AFTER DRIVING THE SUV FOR A WHILE, AND WHEN ALTERNATING BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND THE GAS, THE SUV WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE SUV WILL GIVE THE WARNING OF AN ENGINE FAULT, SERVICE NOW. THE SUV WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD DUE TO THE LACK OF A GAS PEDAL. THE SUV WILL START TO SHAKE AND RATTLE. THE ONLY OPTION A DRIVER THEN HAS IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, TURN THE ENGINE OFF, AND TURN THE SUV BACK ON. ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS OF THE CARE, THE BRAKES, THE ELECTRICAL, THE POWER STEERING, ARE STILL FUNCTIONING. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS AS THIS FAULT HAS OCCURRED ON HIGHWAYS, RESIDENTIAL ROADS, AND CITY STREETS, AS WELL AS WHEN THE SUV IS BRAKING AT STOP SIGNS AND RED LIGHTS.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I TURNED ON CAR TO TAKE TO MECHANIC AND THE CAR SHOOK BAD AND CHOKED ITSELF OUT. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. I LEFT SITTING FOR A DAY, DRIVE TO MECHANIC NEXT DAY, CAR STARTED NO PROBLEMS DRIVING. MECHANIC DIAGNOSIS FOLLOWS: - FOUND MISFIRE DTC, REMOVED SPARK PLUGS AND FOUND COOLANT INTRUSION IN CYLINDER 3 ITEM DESCRIPTION THIS IS THE ENTIRE PROCESS NEEDED TO EITHER REBUILD OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE. THIS IS A PROCESS NEEDED WHEN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS IN NEED OF SERIOUS REPAIR. REASON WITHOUT REPLACING OR REBUILDING A DAMAGED ENGINE, THE CAR WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FUNCTION AND WILL BE LEFT USELES
IN 2014, I BOUGHT A NEW FORD ESCAPE FROM RHINEBECK FORD IN RHINEBECK NY. IT REMAINED IN PRISTINE CONDITION UNTIL ITS UNTIMELY 'DEATH' ON AUGUST 10, 2020. PRIOR TO AUGUST 10, IT WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 15 TIMES TO ADDRESS SAFETY RECALLS. ON AUGUST 10 MY WIFE, SON AND NIECE BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO RHINEBECK FORD. AFTER EXAMINING THE CAR, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ENGINE AND CYLINDERS HAVE COOLANT IN THEM, AND THE TRANSMISSION IS FULL OF METAL FILINGS. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES COMBINED MEAN THAT THE CAR IS DISEASED; HOWEVER RHINEBECK FORD IS STILL IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF THE CAUSE OF DEATH. FORTUNATELY THESE DANGEROUS DEFECTS DID NOT RESULT IN INJURY TO MY FAMILY BUT THEY CERTAINLY DO REPRESENT A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK. ON AUGUST 10, THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 108,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS SOLD A DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE VEHICLE AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT WILLING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I MADE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS TO FORD CORPORATE OFFICES AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THERE ARE NO ACTIVE RECALLS PERTAINING TO DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS OR ENGINES THAT THEY WOULD NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT.

The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine, the transmission, the manifold, and the computer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK AND VIBRATE WHILE THE SPEED REDUCED INDEPENDENTLY. AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER PLANTATION FORD LOCATED AT 707 N. STATE RD 7, PLANTATION, FL 33317, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,800.
ON 8/6/20, I BACKED UP TO THE WAA GARAGE DOOR, STOPPED, AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. THE SHIFT LEVEL INDICATED THAT IT WAS IN PARK, BUT THE ONBOARD COMPUTER INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE/NEUTRAL, THE LAST GEAR USED. THE BATTERY WAS DETACHED IN AN EFFORT TO RESENT ANY ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. THIS ACTION WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL, AND THE CAR REMAIN "IN GEAR". THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, AS IT WAS NOT ACTUALLY IN PARK. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN AN ELECTRICALLY "ON" MODE, FURTHER CAUSING THE BATTERY TO FULLY DISCHARGE AND DIE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR 8/12/20. DEALERSHIP REPAIR NOTES INDICATE "REPLACED TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE DUE TO BUSHING ON TRANSMISSION LINKAGE BEING WORN OUT. THIS DESCRIPTION MATCHES FORD RECALL NOTICE 18S20, FOR A 2014 FORD ESCAPE, 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND NHTSA RECALL NOTICE 18V471000. THIS REPAIR WAS COMPLETED 8//17/20 AND PAID OUT OF POCKET. REQUESTING RECALL EXPANSION TO INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE, AND COMPENSATION FOR OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES.
[XXX] FORD MOTOR COMPANY 2014 FORD ESCAPE, EQUIPPED WITH SIX-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILED OVER TIME AND CAUSE THE BUSHING TO DETACH FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO PARK AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN PARK, WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that there was a defect with the TCM module connector. The vehicle was then taken to several other independent mechanics however, the mechanics were unable to repair the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V495000 (Electrical System) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 20S30 TOLD TO REPORT DOOR LATCH DATE CODES ON DOORS -HOWEVER THE WEB SITE GIVEN IN NOTICE PROVIDES NO WAY TO INPUT RESULTS
I PURCHASED A 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE 2L ECOBOOST. THE CAR STARTED TO OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING AND IS LOSING COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS PRESSURE TESTED AND THERE ARE NO LEAKS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN 2020 WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON THE ENGINE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A REBUILT ENGINE FOR MORE THAN $9,000.00. AN ENTIRE ENGINE SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED ON A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES. THIS IS CLEARLY A FAULTY/DEFECTIVE ENGINE.

POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE SERVICE REQUIRED. HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN STEADY FOR HOURS. ISSUE SHOWED WHEN STARTING THE CAR AFTER VERY SHORT STOP FOR WATER.VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. WAS ABLE TO RESET BY TURNING OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTING. INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS MANY OWNERS WITH EXACT SAME ISSUE
DRIVING 65 MPH, SLIGHT CURVE TO THE RIGHT. HEARD A BIG BANG AND THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE POPPED CAUSING THE CAR TO VEER TO THE RIGHT. THE TIRED NEVER SHREDDED OR ANYTHING. UPON INSPECTION, THE LINK KITS HAD EXPLODED AND THE STABILITY ARM HAD BEEN BENT.
HEY MY ENGINE COOLANT IS RUNNING I JUST BROUGHT THE CAR 3 WEEKS AGO AND CONSTANTLY HAVE TO FILL IT WITH COOLANT I THINK THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THE CAR HAS 95000 MILES ON IT THIS SHOULDNT BE A PROBLEM ALREADY
WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER, ALMOST LIKE RUNNING OUT OF GAS, THEN A SENSOR WENT OFF SAYING 'ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW', THEN I COULD REALLY FEEL THE CAR DRAGGING. I PULLED OVER AND COULD HEAR THE COOLANT BUBBLING, SO I WAITED TIL IT COOLED DOWN AND SAY THERE WASN'T MUCH THERE, I NOTICED A LEAK UNDER THE COOLANT AREA. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED AN ENGINE FLUSH, I GOT THE FLUSH BUT SOON AFTER THE SAME ISSUE WAS REOCCURRING. RANDOMLY NOW IT WILL JUST LOSE POWER AND SENSOR WILL READ THE SAME THING, IT'S SCARY WITH YOUR FAMILY I'M THE CAR AND YOUR LOSING POWER. SO HERE I AM AGAIN BEING TOLD I NEED AN ENGINE FLUSH AGAIN WITHIN THE SAME YEAR. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE RESERVOIR BEING THAT IT WASN'T HOLDING COOLANT. WHEN I POUR COOLANT IN IT SEEMS LIKE THE ENGINE IS PULLING IT RIGHT OUT, I'M NOT SURE WHERE IT'S GOING BECAUSE IT'S NOT LEAKING OUT BUT IT'S GOING SOMEWHERE. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT A RECALL ON MY VIN, HOWEVER I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I'M HOPING TO CLEAR THIS UP SOME I CAN GET MY VEHICLE IN SAFE CONDITIONS FOR MY FAMILY, AND SO NO ONE GETS HURT.
I TURNED ONTO A HIGHWAY AND MY TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, LEAVING MY VEHICLE INOPERABLE.
THE TRANSMISSION WENT ON A STREET DRIVING TO WORK, VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE
WHEN PUTTING THE CAR FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLAMMING INTO GEAR CAUSING STRESS ON THE 'SNAP RING' WHICH CAUSES A CATASTROPHE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. MY VEHICLE HAS 26,120 MILES ON IT AND I READ THAT THIS ISSUE HAPPENS ON A REGULAR BASIS WITH THE 6F35 TRANSMISSION, AND GENERALLY AT 70K, AND IF REBUILT IT MAY STILL RE-OCCUR.
STARTED TO HEAR A HUMMING NOISE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AFTER TURNING LEFT FROM A LIGHT THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE. THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY ENERGY SO I PULLED OVER TO STOP AND CUT THE CAR OFF. ONCE RESTARTED THE CAR STARTED TO DRIVE LIKE NORMAL SHORTLY THEN BEGAN TO DECREASE SPEED AGAIN. AT THAT MOMENT I MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO A DRIVEWAY AND THE TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW LIGHT CAME ON. CAR ONLY HAD 96,000 MILES ON IT AND SERVICE MANUAL SAYS CHECK AT 115,000. CAR WAS TOWED TO TOMBALL FORD WHERE I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. I'M UNSURE WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET DUE TO THE HIGH AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME COOKIE CUTTER ISSUES. IT'S VERY UNFORTUNATE THAT WE ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO BE PUT IN DANGER AND ENDURE FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS FOR A CAR WITH PREVALENT ISSUES.
2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH 85,000 MILES BEGAN TO ISSUE COOLANT LOW WARNING DESPITE HAVING JUST RECENTLY BEING FILLED RECENTLY. IT SHORTLY AFTER BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND MISFIRE ON THE FREEWAY ON RAMP. I HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REGISTERED ABOUT 500 PPM OF EXHAUST GOING INTO THE COOLANT. HE DIAGNOSED IT AS A BROKEN HEAD GASKET AND THAT I POSSIBLE NEEDED AN ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. HE ALSO NOTED THERE WAS NO LEAK IN OUR COOLANT.
71,000 POWER STEERING ASSIST IS FAILING. POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. FIRST HAPPENED WHILE PARKING, BUT IT GOES OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!
The coolant replacement valve need to be replaced every 6 months and there are other year of this vehicle that has been recalled but, I do not see it recalled on the 2014. I have replaced this part almost 5 times since I bought this car from my dealership.
THE STEERING GOES OUT RANDOMLY. WHEEL STIFFENS UP AND WILL NOT MOVE. MOST TIMES I HAVE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF 4 OR 5 TIMES AND THEN IT WILL WORK.. SO FAR. BUT I'M WORRIED IT MAY NOT WORK ONE DAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FAIRWAY FORD (2761 E STONE DR, KINGSPORT, TN 37660) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,333. *JS
2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH 88K MILES EXPERIENCED AMBER AND THEN RED SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT IN LESS THAN 12 HOUR PERIOD. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TRANSMISSION WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT GEARS, CAUSING A HAZARDOUS SITUATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ENGINE RPM WOULD RACE CLOSE TO MAXIMUM AND CAR WOULD NOT MAINTAIN SPEED. DRIVER SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. FORD OBVIOUSLY KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON CARS WITH SIMILAR TRANSMISSION, BUT NOT ON THE ESCAPE. TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP LOT AND OVERFLOW LOT WAS FULL OF FORD ESCAPES THAT NEEDED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. MANY ESCAPES HAD BEEN WAITING FOR WEEKS AS THE OWNERS DON'T HAVE THE $3200-3400 NEEDED TO REPAIR.
IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH 2014 FORD ESCAPES THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILS AND ENGINE CYLINDER DEFECTS FROM THE LOUISVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED AT THIS PLANT DURING THE DATES OF THE DEFECTS IN 2013. THE DEFECTS EFFECTED THE 2014 ESCAPES. THE RECALL IS ON CARS FROM FEB 2013 THROUGH SEPT 2013. MY VECHILE WAS MANUFACTURED JUNE 2103 WHICH IS IN THE "RECALL DATES". I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AT THE COST OF $3,800 BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID THAT "IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL". THE CAR NOW HAS A P304 CODE WHICH IS CYLINDER 4 DEFECT THAT IS A KNOW DEFECT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY "MAY LOOK AT IT" AND IF THERE ARE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THEY "MAY DO A RECALL" ON MY VIN NUMBER. FORD "MAY REIMBURSE ME FOR THE TRANSMISSION THAT I PUT IN" THESE ARE KNOW DEFECTS FROM THIS MANUFACTURING PLANT WITH OTHER VINS GETTING REPAIRS. THE CAR WAS DRIVING ROUGH PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION BEING REPLACED WHICH WAS THE HEAD GEAR STARTING TO GO. I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME.

UNKNOWN. Often back up camera when using reverse in automatic transmission display goes blank or says camera not found Doesn’t work often dealer twice or more nothing found. Darn.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the infotainment screen would go blank causing the rear backup camera to become inoperative. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where they replaced the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V406000 (Electrical System) however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer where a diagnostic test was performed; it was determined that the air control module (ACM) needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 87K MILES, FIRST RECOMMENDED SERVICE IS AT 120K MILES. THERE IS NO DIP STICK FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND NO WAY TO VERIFY LEVELS OF ATF. GUARANTEED FAILURE IF THE FLUIDS ARE LOW. I STARTED TO DRIVE MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE AND THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER STEERING. I NOTICED THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT WAS ON. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED WHILE PARKED AND NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD. VERY UNSAFE. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE ROAD SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN DEATH. THIS HAS TO BE FIXED SOON. AS I WAS TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET AT 30MPH EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHILE STOPPED I SUDDENLY HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I STARTED TO GO. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. PRIOR, THERE HAD BEEN NO CHECK ENGINE OR WARNING LIGHTS ON. THE VEHICLE WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE SERVICES. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. VEHICLES BEHIND ME SOUNDED THEIR HORNS IMMEDIATELY. I PUT MY 4WAY EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON. CALLED A TOW TRUCK. TOW ARRIVED 30 MINUTES LATER. THE EASIEST AND MOST COST EFFECTIVE PLAN WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 4164. THERE WAS 72649 MILES ON THE FAILED ENGINE.

I STARTED TO DRIVE MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE AND THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER STEERING. I NOTICED THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT WAS ON. HE ALSO STATED THE RACK & PINION IS A SEAL COMPONENT, SO THAT IS WHY THE ENTIRE THING HAS TO BE REPLACED. HAD THE COOLANT RESERVOIR CRACK TWICE, VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND THEN THE PART WAS REPLACED RIGHT AWAY. AFTER THE SECOND TIME I ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES I WAS TOLD IT WAS AND THAT THEY ARE CONSTANTLY REORDERING THESE PARTS.
