PURCHASED VEHICLE ON 2/17/2018 WITH 73,600 MILES ON THE VEHICLE ON 2/20/2018 DROVE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 HOURS (PITTSBURGH TO CLEVELAND AND BACK) NEAR THE END OF THE RETURN TRIP, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFT AND UP SHIFT ON RELATIVELY LEVEL GROUND WHILE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON AT ABOUT 67 MPH. WITHIN A MINUTE OF THIS BEHAVIOR, THE INFORMATION DISPLAY INDICATED A TRANSMISSION FAULT: SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN. THE FAULT CLEARED. CALLED DEALER AND STATED MY ISSUE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER (SMAIL HONDA GREENSBURG, PA) ON 2/21. ON THE TRIP TO THE DEALER, THE FAULT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES. ONE OF THOSE TIMES I HEARD A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE.WHILE I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES. DEALER FOUND A WRONG GEAR RATIO FAULT ON THE TRANSMISSION AND IS REPLACING THE UNIT WITH ONE THAT HAS 46000 MILE ON IT. ALL OCCURRENCES OF THE FAULT WERE ON THE HIGHWAY ABOVE 50MPH VEHICLE HAD 74400 MILES WHEN DEALER TOOK POSSESSION TO REPAIR
CAR SUDDENLY DEVELOPED A HIGH-PITCHED HUM. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, CAR ENGINE REVVED AS IF IN NEUTRAL. MANAGED TO MOVE CAR OFF ROAD AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. REPAIR ORDER SAYS 'CONVERTER CAME APART INTERNALLY.' VEHICLE HAD 64,270 MILES.
I WAS LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE. I BACKED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND WITHIN SECONDS THE CAR STARTED CHUGGING LIKE IT WANTED TO QUIT. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE RPMS WOULD NOT BUDGE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE, SHUT THE CAR OFF, AND RESTARTED. IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT WOULD START. I PULLED INTO THE LANE AND IT DID THE SAME THING. IT DID THIS 6 MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD ACTUALLY GET IT TO GO WITHOUT STALLING. I NOTICED THE VEHICLES PRODUCED A FEW MONTHS BEFORE MINE HAD A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP. THIS SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER OTHER VEHICLES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (AL WHITE FORD LINCOLN, 2002 HILLSBORO BLVD, MANCHESTER, TN 37355, (931) 728-2402) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE TRANSMISSION BLEW ON THIS CAR AFTER 3 1/2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, 87,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING (I.E., LOSS OF POWER UPON SHIFTING TO ACCELERATE) AFTER ABOUT 1 YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. I ASKED OUR LOCAL DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR TO CHECK AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE. THE SLIPPAGE KEPT HAPPENING PERIODICALLY, BUT NOT OFTEN ENOUGH THAT I COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. IT WAS AFTER THE TRANSMISSION BLEW AND I RESEARCHED "BLOWN TRANSMISSION" ONLINE THAT I REALIZED WHAT HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS IN A NEW CAR. WHEN IT DID BLOW, I WAS DRIVING, RUNNING ERRANDS AROUND TOWN, AND WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT. AS I TRIED TO PUT IT BACK INTO GEAR AND DRIVE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO A GEAR TO MOVE THE CAR. LEFT ME STRANDED. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS RUNNING, INCLUDING THE SYNC OPERATED "ENGINE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM" WHICH RAN AN ASSESSMENT AND SAID EVERYTHING IN THE CARE WAS OPERATING FINE, INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION! I HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR, TOWING FOR THE VEHICLE, AND IT WOULD COST ME $6700 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS SO DAMAGED THE SERVICE GUY SAID IT COULD NOT EVEN BE REPAIRED. WE ULTIMATELY DONATED THE CAR BUT GOT NOTHING FOR A CAR THAT WAS 3 1/2 YEARS OLD IN GREAT CONDITION. VERY DISAPPOINTING. AND THE DEALER NEVER OFFERED ME ANYTHING...TO PAY FOR RENTAL CAR OR THE DIAGNOSTIC TO TELL ME THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, OR EVEN FOR PARTS FOR THE CAR. I'LL NEVER BUY A FORD CAR AGAIN.
I STARTED MY VEHICLE YESTERDAY TO WARM UP AND ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES LATER HEARD A BIG BOOM, LOOKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE FRONT END OF MY ESCAPE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I HAD SCHEDULED IT TO GET REPAIRED YESTERDAY MORNING, BUT WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT AS WE RECEIVED A LOT OF SNOW AND SCHOOLS WERE CANCELLED AND SUCH. I HAD KNOWN OF THE RECALL SINCE LAST YEAR SINCE I ALREADY WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER RECALL WITH THE LATCH. I TRIED TO GET THEM TAKEN CARE OF AT THE SAME TIME, BUT THE REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND WOULDN'T BE FOR SOME TIME. I RECEIVED A NOTICE DIRECTLY FROM FORD BETWEEN ONE AND TWO WEEKS AGO AND CALLED ZIEGLER IN ELKHART TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, BUT THEY WEREN'T AVAILABLE FOR ALMOST A WEEK. IT IS OBVIOUS THE DAMAGE WAS ALREADY DONE WITH MY CAR ANYWAY, CONSIDERING THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL, WHICH A WHOLE PROCESS OF THE CYLINDER HEAD CRACKING, COOLANT LEAKING OUT AND THAT POTENTIALLY CAUSING A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I AM THANKFUL THAT THE CAR WAS JUST WARMING UP IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND NEITHER MY KIDS NOR MYSELF WERE INSIDE. I AM ALSO GRATEFUL THAT OUR HOUSE DIDN'T CATCH FIRE AND JUST SUSTAINED SOME COSMETIC DAMAGE DUE TO THE HEAT. I DO NOT HAVE THE REPORT FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT YET, BUT THEY SAID IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE SOON. ON 02/06/208 TOOK VEHICLE TO HERITAGE FORD VT FOR COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR RECALL . RECALL WAS PERFORMED . ON 03/20/2018 VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO HERITAGE FORD VT DUE TO RECALL PERFORMED INCORRECTLY REPAIR WAS COMPLETE. 04/19/2018 VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO HERITAGE FORD VT RECALL DONE INCORRECTLY RESULTING IN REMANUFACTURED ENGINE REPLACE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO HERITAGE FORD 05/16/2018,06/19/2018,07/09/2018,09/07/2018 DUE TO VEHICLE OVERHEATING CAUSING POSSIBLE COOLANT TO LEAK INTO ENGINE . ON 10/30/2018 VEHICLE OVERHEATED HERITAGE FORD VT SUPERVISOR AND MECHANIC VIDEO RECORDED POURING COOLANT INTO VEHICLE AND DRIVING AWAY POSSIBLY CAUSING MORE DAMAGE TO OIL AND ENGINE .11/30/2018 VEHICLE RETURNED TO HERITAGE FORD VT DUE TO OVERHEAT COOLANT POSSIBILITY CAUSING A BREAKDOWN OF OIL AND DAMAGE TO ENGINE . HERITAGE FORD VT REPLACED COOLANT SENSOR IMPROPERLY. HERITAGE FORD VT IS NOW CLAIMING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ACTION, STATING, IN ORDER FOR THIS VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED I THE CUSTOMER WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE DUE TO HERITAGE FORD VT NEGLIGENCE OF REPLACING A COOLANT SENSOR CORRECTLY.I FEEL AS THE CUSTOMER THIS VEHICLE IS,WAS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF HERITAGE FORD VT .
TRANSMISSION HAS A HARD SHIFT FROM TIME TO TIME MAKING IT FEEL LIKE THE ENGINE IS JUST GOING TO FALL OUT. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN DURING A SPECIFIC OCCURRENCE BUT IT SEEMS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS DELAYED GOING GEAR TO GEAR WETHER IT BE FROM PARK TO REVERSE TO DRIVE, OR FROM GEARS 1-5
WE TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR RECALL REPAIRS AT FORD DEALER. WHEN WE DROVE IT HOME ON CITY STREET AT 35 MPH THE REAR OF THE CAR STARTED SHAKING AND TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A BAD REAR DRIVE SHAFT BEARING. IT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN DRIVING. THE COST OF REPAIR WAS $500. AFTER THE REPAIR WE DROVE IT HOME ON CITY STREET AT 40 MPH THE TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT CAME BACK ON. FORD DEALER SAID IT COULD BE A SHIFT SOLENOID REPAIR FOR $500 IF THAT DOES NOT WORK IT WOULD BE A TORQUE CONVERTER REPAIR AT A COST OF $3500. IT NEEDS TO BE DONE AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN DRIVING. THE CAR HAS 40000 MILES AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER (JONES WEST FORD IN RENO NV) FOR RECALL 17V-209 WHICH IS RELATED TO OVERHEATING THAT CAN CAUSE THE CYLINDER HEAD TO CRACK AND MAY RESULT IN FIRE. THE SERVICE ADVISER INFORMED ME THAT IT HAD A CRACKED HEAD BASED ON THEIR EXPERTISE, LOW COOLANT AND AMOUNT OF HYDROCARBONS WHEN TESTED. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS A NEW MOTOR. WHEN ASKED ABOUT IT BEING COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, HE QUICKLY SAID IT WAS NOT AND THE REPAIR WOULD BE $8,000.00. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR FURTHER REVIEW. DURING THE SAME SERVICE VISIT, THE TECH PERFORMED RECALL 16S30 ON ALL DOOR LATCHES. THE NEXT DAY I FOUND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WINDOW TO NOT BE OPERATING PROPERLY. KNOWING THAT THE TECH HAD TO ACCESS THE REPAIR FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR PANEL, I ASKED THE DEALER TO TAKE CARE OF THE WINDOW. WHILE IN THE SERVICE SHOP FOR THE WINDOW, THE SERVICE ADVISER TOOK THE LIBERTY OF CHECKING THE MOTOR AGAIN. THIS TIME HE CLAIMS THE "MASTER MECHANIC" DIAGNOSED IT AND EVERYTHING IS FINE. THEY INSTALLED THE PART AFFECTED BY THE RECALL AND THIS TIME THEY TOPPED OFF THE COOLANT. I SUSPECT THE REASON FOR TAKING ANOTHER LOOK IS BASED ON MY COMPLAINT TO THE MOTOR COMPANY. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THE HEAD IS CRACKED OR NOT. THEY DIDN'T REMOVE IT FOR PROPER TESTING. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, I WOULD SAY THEY HAVE NO INTENTION ON GETTING INVOLVED IN SUCH AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR. THE DEALER EVEN FAILED AT THE DOOR LATCH. THEY SAID THE WINDOW FAILURE IS A COINCIDENCE AND TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY. THE WINDOW IS STILL NOT WORKING. I WOULD HAVE DECLINED THE DOOR LATCH RECALL IF I KNEW I WOULD END UP WITH A WINDOW THAT DOESN'T WORK. IT WAS FINE BEFORE THEY OPENED THE DOOR PANEL TO INSTALL A NEW LATCH. I HOPE THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO TO HOLD THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ACCOUNTABLE TO DO THE RIGHT THING PER THE INTENTION OF THE SAFETY RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (RANDALL FORD, 5500 ROGERS AVE, FORT SMITH, AR 72903), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PROVIDED A COOLANT PRESSURE CHECK AND FOUND COOLANT IN THE RESERVOIR. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS CRACKED AND THE COMPRESSION SENSOR MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE DEALER (NORTH BAY FORD, 1999 SOQUEL AVE, SANTA CRUZ, CA 95062, (831) 457-5858) REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THE NEXT DAY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE THERMOSTAT WAS NOT REGULATING THE HEAT AND THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS FLUCTUATING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. CAR JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITHOUY WARNING. ALMOST HIT. COULD NOT RESTART. HAD TO BE PUSHED ACROSS BUSY ROAD BY POLICE TO SAFETY THEN TOWED. THEY TELL ME IT'S FUEL PUMP AT 86,000 MILES. MY VIN SHOWS NOT PART RECALL.
RECENTLY WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WHILE THERE I WAS INFORMED OF A COOLANT FLUSH THAT WAS NEEDED HOWEVER I WAS NOT INFORMED OF A TECHNICIAN NOTE THAT STATES "PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL HAS SWOLLEN LUG NUTS. HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS. WHENRESEARCHING SWOLLEN LUGS NUTS FOUND MANY PEOPLE HAVE ONLINE COMPLAINTS. WHY WOULD THEY NOT INFORM ME? I DO HAVE RECEIPT WITH STATEMENT.

The contact stated that the vehicle would also roll forward when in reverse. The contact stated that warning lights were illuminated. The failure cause was not diagnosed by a dealer or an independent mechanic. The contact stated that the instrument panels fails to be illuminated due to a rear-end collision that she was previously involved in. The contact stated that she received NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) and called the dealer who stated that the failure was not related to the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT SYSTEM WAS VERY LOW AND, AFTER BEING REFILLED, THE COOLANT WAS BACK LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNDETERMINED. THE CONTACT CALLED JOHN KENNEDY FORD-POTTSTOWN AT 1-888-696-4917 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MANUFACTURED AT THE RIGHT TIME TO BE INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREET BEING PARKED. I HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE. I LOOKED AROUND TO SEE WHERE IT CAME FROM. INSIDE THE TRUCK THE INTERIOR BUST OPEN SHOWING METAL SCREW PART OF THE STRUT OR SHOCKS THAT'S POPPING OUT OF THE INTERIOR THIS PART COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURIES OR CAUSED A ACCIDENT IF THE PART COME ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE INTERIOR
WHILE DRIVING LAST WEEK ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER SOMEWHAT LIKE IT WAS DOWNSHIFTING AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF LEAVING OUR HOUSE. WE PULLED OVER AND THEN THE CARE STARTED ON FIRE
MY VEHICLE RAN LOW ON COOLANT ON 2 INSTANCES IN NOVEMBER 2017, WITH THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE RISING INTO THE RED ZONE WHILE DRIVING. BOTH TIMES I PULLED OVER, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTATED, AND THE VEHICLE RAN FINE. I FILLED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR TOOK TO A LOCAL GARAGE, THEY COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE FOR THE LOW COOLANT (NO SIGN OF LEAK & IT PASSED A PRESSURE TEST). THEIR ADVICE WAS TO MONITOR THE COOLANT LEVEL AND IT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP. I EXPERIENCED NO FURTHER ISSUES UNTIL THE EVENING OF JAN. 7, 2018, WHEN MY ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION AFTER DRIVING FOR ONLY 2 MILES. THE MAIN DASH DISPLAY SHOWED AN "ENGINE FAILURE" MESSAGE. I BRAKED TO A STOP AND LIGHT SMOKE BEGAN VENTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, TOOK A PEEK IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND DISCOVERED A WORKING FIRE UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE BLOCK AND A SMELL OF OIL. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT & SHERIFF PATROL RESPONDED, THE FIRE BURNED FOR APPROX. 1 & 1/2 MINUTES AND SELF EXTINGUISHED ONCE THE ENGINE COOLED DOWN. THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS SPRAYED IN OIL, OIL DRIPPING ONTO THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE, WOULD NOT RE-START AND WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE. NUMEROUS ERROR CODES REPORTED, THE MECHANIC SAID I WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP. THEN ON JAN. 11 2018 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD FOR 17S09 - FIRE HAZARD FOR THE MAKE & MODEL OF VEHICLE. 2014 FORD ESCAPE, I PURCHASED IT USED IN 2015 AND CURRENTLY HAVE 75,000 MILES ON IT. MY VEHICLE IS NOW AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND I AM WAITING FOR A REPORT OF WHAT DAMAGE OCCURRED AND CORRECTIVE ACTION. RECALL NOTICE, FIRE REPORT & POLICE REPORT ARE ATTACHED.

I MANAGED TO REACH THE CENTRAL SEPARATOR UNTIL IT STOPPED COMPLETELY. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR OVER, I FELT A BURNT SMELL, DUE TO THAT FACT I DECIDED TO LEAVE MY FORD SCAPE 2014 AND REALIZED THAT IT GOT SUDDENLY ON FIRE. AS A PROOF, THE INCIDENT WAS RECORDED BY THE LOCAL NEWSCAST. IT'S IMPERATIVE FOR ME A SOLUTION FROM FORD CONSIDERING THAT I STILL OWE 19.000.00 TO THE BANK.

GAS FILLING PROBLEM: WHEN FILLING GAS TANK WITH GAS, THE GAS SHUTS OFF REPEATEDLY. THIS HAPPENS AT "EVERY" GAS STATION I GO TO. IT TAKES 15 MINUTES TO FILL A 12 GALLON TANK. INFURIATING. The contact added coolant to the reservoir. While driving 25 MPH, the vehicle was driving rough. The contact was concerned about the vehicle catching on fire. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that a pressure test was needed to check for leaks. The mechanic informed the contact about potential codes and referred the contact to Ford and the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. 2014 Ford Escape. Shortly after the warrant period ended the back-up camera stopped working properly. The picture is Intermittent, upside down, and stops working completely. No accident yet but very unsafe. Ford is aware of problem and conducting a recall, but my vehicle is not part of the recall. The dealer is aware of this problem and tried to fix it. Please require ford to expand the back-up camera recall to ALL vehicles with malfunctioning cameras.

I TRIED HARD TO MOVE MY STEERING AND TRY TO PULL MY CAR UPTO DEALERSHIP. I FOUND FORD DID SO MANY RECALLS IN PREVIOUS YEAR. ONE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT MY FORD HAS ONLY 36500 KMS ON IT. I PRESENTED THIS CASE TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAND IT OVER $2450 BILL. THIS IS SERIOUS ISSUE REGARDING SAFETY ON ROAD. IT NEEDS TO BE OPEN RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND FORD HAS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY IN MODERATE TRAFFIC AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS COLD (<32 DEGREES F). VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A ROUTE THAT IS OFTEN DRIVEN WITH THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 40K MILES WITH NO KNOWN MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. DRIVER ROUTINELY USES CRUISE CONTROL ALMOST EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. IN THIS INSTANCE, DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE CONTROL ENGAGED FOR ONLY 1 SEC BEFORE AUTOMATICALLY DISENGAGING. DRIVER ATTEMPTED THIS THREE MORE TIMES TO THE SAME EFFECT. AT THE SAME TIME AS THIS CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTION, THE DRIVER WAS RECEIVING A CELLULAR CALL ON AN IPHONE 6, SERVICE WITH US CELLULAR. DRIVER DID NOT PICK UP THE PHONE BUT CONTINUED TO LET IT RING. THE IPHONE WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVERS LEFT FRONT PANTS POCKET. ON THE FOURTH ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, IT FAILED AGAIN BUT AFTER ANOTHER 2 SECONDS, IMMEDIATELY ENGAGED WITHOUT INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, IT ENGAGED AT 72 MPH, CAUSING SUDDEN, UNINTENDED ACCELERATION FROM APPROXIMATELY 67 MPH TO 72 MPH. DRIVER DISENGAGED CRUISE CONTROL AND THEN CONTINUED TO DRIVE NORMALLY. AT THIS TIME, THE IPHONE ALSO STOPPED RINGING. CONTINUED DRIVING SINCE THAT TIME - WITH NO ADDITIONAL CALLS RECEIVED ON THE IPHONE - HAVE NO HAD ANY FURTHER EFFECTS ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. UNKNOWN CAUSE FOR CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTION, BUT GIVEN THAT IT IS USED FREQUENTLY EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN FOR COMMUTING WITHOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS INSTANCE, DRIVER SUSPECTS EMI/INTERFERENCE.
WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR JUST STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING AS IF IT HAD RUN OUT OF GAS. THIS HAPPEN THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY ON A CITY STREET AND ONCE LEAVING A PARKING SPACE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SENSOR THAT REGULATED THE FUEL INJECTOR PRESSURE. THEY REPLACED THE FLP SENSOR. INVOICE 829177 AT CAPITAL FORD IN RALEIGH, NC. ADDITIONALLY I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO WARNING GIVEN FOR THIS PROBLEM; WHEN IT GOES IT GOES. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE AND WEAKNESS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM AND COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF A SERIOUS REAR END COLLISION.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE STATIONARY AT MY SON'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. I WAS WAITING IN THE DROP OFF LANE AT MY SON'S SCHOOL WHEN MY SUV STARTED TO SMOKE FROM UNDERNEATH THE DASH, I TRIED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE LANE SO I WOULD NOT BLOCK OTHER PARENTS FROM COMING INTO THE SCHOOL, AND IT WOULD NOT DRIVE, MORE SMOKE CAME INTO THE CAB AND I QUICKLY GOT MY SON OUT OF THE CAR AND AWAY. I PURCHASED MY 2014 ESCAPE ECO BOOST USED IN MID 2015. IT WAS 1.5 YEARS OLD WITH 74K MILES. IN DECEMBER OF 2017 THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY STOPPED SHIFTING WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATION PREVIOUSLY. I STOPPED TO GET GAS ONE NIGHT AND TOOK BACK OFF AND IT SLIPPED IN SECOND GEAR AND NEVER REENGAGED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR CODE INDICATORS SHOWING ON THE DASH AND THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE WAY IT WAS DRIVING AND SHIFTING PREVIOUSLY TO MAKE ME THINK THERE WAS AN ISSUE. IT LITERALLY JUST HAPPENED ALL AT ONCE. THE REPAIR CONSISTED OF A COMPLETE REBUILD. THE PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID, TCC SOLENOID, BUSHING AND BEARINGS WERE REPLACED TOTALING AN OUT OF POCKET $2900.00 ON A VEHICLE THAT WAS LESS THANK 4 YEARS OLD. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE ECO BOOST AND THERE IS EVEN A RECALL ON THE 2008 ESCAPES. AS WELL AS SOME OF THE 2017 MODELS.
WHILE PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEED ENGINE STARTED SURGING AND WOULD NOT SLOW. SHIFTING TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL ALLOWED VEHICLE TO BE STOPPED. ENGINE CONTINUING SURGING UNTIL TURNED OFF. MECHANIC FOUND CODES P0011 INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING OVER-ADVANCED (BANK 1) AND P0016 CRAFTSHAFT POSITION - CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION - BANK 1 SENSOR A. MECHANIC STATED IT WAS VERY UNUSUAL FOR SUCH PROBLEMS TO EXIST IN AN ENGINE AT ONLY 66,000 MILES.

I MERGED ONTO A MAJOR FREEWAY AND WAS UP TO 75-80MPH AND THE CAR STALLED OUT, ALMOST HIT BY 2 SEMIS TRYING TO AVOID RE ENDING ME ON THE FREEEWAY. *TT CONSUMER STATED NEVER HAD A BRAKE FAILURE. THERMOSTAT QUIT WORKING AT 37900 MILES. NO HEAT HERE IN DECEMBER IN LOUISVILLE, KY
IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU DRIVE THE CAR FOR A WHILE (45+ MINUTES), TURN IT OFF, AND THEN START IT UP 15-45 MINUTES LATER. IT WILL START BUT THEN WITHIN THE FIRST 100 YARDS IT WILL GO SLUGGISH AND STALL. WHEN I TRY TO GIVE IT GAS THAT DOESN'T HELP. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF, PUT IT IN PARK AND START IT BACK UP. A FEW TIMES IT'S STALLED 3 TIMES IN A ROW. ONCE IT GETS GOING GOOD IT'S FINE. IT'S ALWAYS FINE IF IT'S BEEN OFF FOR A WHILE (FIRST THING IN THE MORNING OR STARTING AFTER WORK). EVENTUALLY THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK IT TO A SHOP, A GUY DIAGNOSED IT, CHANGED OUT A SENSOR AND THE FUEL PUMP. IT DIDN'T HELP.

I STARTED TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT MODEL FOR THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE DESCRIPTION MATCHES MY ISSUE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECALL. I DID MORE RESEARCH AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF DEALERSHIPS STATING THIS IS NOT A RECALL AND SOME PEOPLE WERE ALMOST INJURED BECAUSE OF THIS. VEHICLES STOPPING WHILE DRIVING IS VERY DANGEROUS. COOLANT SEEPAGE WAS DUE TO PRESSURE FRACTURES WITHIN COOLANT TANK WALLS AND TANK NOT PART OF RECALL. THE "LOW LEVEL SENSOR" IS A NEEDED ADDITION BUT I FAR AS I CAN TELL, THE REPLACEMENT COOLANT TANK IF NOT AN IMPROVED TANK, WILL ALSO DEVELOP PRESSURE FRACTURES IN THE FUTURE. MAYBE FORD WILL HAVE A TANK FIX LATER.

MY SON WAS DRIVING MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE ON THE STREET TO I-25 WHEN HE THOUGHT HE SMELLED SMOKE, THEN THE ENGINE FAILURE FLASHED ON THE SCREEN AND THE ENGINE TURNED ITSELF OFF. HE WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION THEN HE POPPED THE HOOD AND SAW FLAMES SO HE SHUT THE HOOD AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
