I WAS SITTING I THE TRUCK LETTING IT WARM UP BEFORE I STARTED MY DAY I WAS SCROLLING THREW MY PHONE I LOOKED UP I SAW HUDGE FLAMES I REACHED TO UNLOCK THE DOOR WHEN I REALIZED THE LOCKS STOPPED WORKING I WAS LOCKED IN THE CAR LUCKILY I HAD MY WINDOWS CRACKED ENOUGH TO REACH OUT AND OPEN THE DOOR THE RADIO BLEW UP ON MY WAY OUT THE CAR IT WAS SO HOT I DIDN'T EXPECT ANYTHING I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SCARED ME TO DEATH WORST CAR EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE I WAS SCARED TO DEATH I CAN'T EXPLAIN HOW BAD I FEEL MY TRUCK WAS MY NEW BEST FRIEND I KEPT THE TRUCK CLEAN PRETTY I'M HURT IT'S BURNED ALL UP ALMOST TOOK MY LIFE IF I WOULD HAVE LOOK UP ANY LATER I WOULD HAVE DIED
SHIFTER CABLE BUSHINGS PROBLEM! I PARKED IN A PARKING SPACE AT THE GROCERY STORE, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS ALMOST HITTING A CUSTOMER BEHIND ME. MY SHIFTER WAS IN PARK, BUT THE DASHBOARD SAID I WAS IN REVERSE. I WAS STUCK AND COULD NOT TURN THE CAR OFF AND HAD TO WAIT HOURS FOR A TOW. NOW I'M WITHOUT A CAR TO GET TO WORK. WHAT IF I HIT THE LADY THAT WAS WALKING BEHIND ME? THIS IS A VERY CONCERNING SAFETY ISSUE AND I TRUST THAT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, AND GET MY CAR BACK SO THAT I CAN GET TO WORK. VERY SCARY AND SO THANKFUL THIS DIDNT RESULT IN DAMAGE OR INJURY. THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION DETACHED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION ALLOWED THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A GEAR STATE DIFFERENT THAN THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION SELECTED DRIVER. THE CONDITION ALLOWED DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO 'PARK' AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN 'PARK,' WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT APPLIED, A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION COULD RESULT IN UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR CRASH.
I PARKED IN A PARKING SPACE AT THE GROCERY STORE AND STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS ALMOST HITTING A CUSTOMER WALKING! I WAS IN PARK, BUT THE DASHBOARD SAID I WAS IN REVERSE! WHAT THE HECK? HOW DANGEROUS IS THIS! I COULD NOT MOVE THE SHIFTER OR TURN THE CAR OFF. I HAD TO WAIT HOURS FOR A TOW TRUCK. I'M SO GLAD THAT I DID NOT ROLL BACK AND HIT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. THIS IS A VERY CONCERNING SAFETY ISSUE AND I TRUST THAT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER WILL TAKE CARE OF IT, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, SO THAT I CAN GET MY CAR BACK AND GET TO WORK.
MOVED SHIFT LEVER TO DRIVE AND APPLIED GAS. VEHICLE STARTED TO GO IN REVERSE. THIS OCCURRED IN SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT AND THERE WAS NO PROPERTY DAMAGE. SHOP IDENTIFIED BROKEN SHIFT CABLE. REPAIRS PENDING.
DRIVING ALONG AND THE DASHBOARD WENT OFF AND ON. WINDOWS WON'T GO UP OR DOWN. NO LIGHTS. EVERYTHING WAS FLASHING. CAR ONLY HAS 22,000 MILES ON IT. IT IS ALSO ALWAYS KEPT IN THE GARAGE. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEMS. IT'S AN SEL AND 6 CYLINDERS. I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND JUST DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO BILL KNIGHT FORD. THEY GAVE ME NO CAR AND I'M SINGLE SO IT'S MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I AM ALSO A RETIRED TEACHER AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO BUY A CAR. I EXPECT MORE OUT OF A FAIRLY NEW CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAKELARIS FORD OF VERSAILLES (573-378-4653, LOCATED AT 1001 W NEWTON ST, VERSAILLES, MO 65084) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000. *TT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KLABEN FORD LINCOLN OF WARREN, INC. (888-428-3823, LOCATED AT 3853 YOUNGSTOWN RD SE, WARREN, OH 44484) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000.
MY STEP DAUGHTER WAS PARALLEL PARKING WITH HER UNCLE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN SO HER UNCLE GO IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT A MINUTE AND IT WOULD NOT TURN FOR HIM. SO THEY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR 20 MINUTES AND THEN IT WAS FINE. I AM GLAD THEY WERE DRIVING SLOW IN A PRACTICE AREA FOR PARALLEL PARKING. MAYBE FORD WILL DO A RECALL ON THIS AND FIX THE PROBLEM.
I START THE CAR AND LET IT WARM UP FOR 5 - 6 MINUTES BEFOR PUTTING IT IN DRIVE . AS I PULL AWAY ITS SHUTS OFF. I LET IT RUN AGAIN SOTTING IN A PARKED POSITION. I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND START TO PULL AWSY, IT SHUTS DOWN AGAIN. IT TAKES THREE TO FOUR TRIES BEFORE IT WILL RUN SMOOTHLY.IT ALWAYS HAPPENS AS I PULL AWAY FROM A PARKED POSITION IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHUT OFF AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT TOOK THE CONTACT NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
IN THE EVENING ON 9/4/18 I HAD BEEN SITTING IN MY CAR, WHICH WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF, WAITING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO PICK UP MY SON. I HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CARE AS A USED VEHICLE ON 8/13/18. I HAD THE CAR KEY FOB IN MY LEFT JEANS POCKET. I SUDDENLY FELT AN INTENSE PAIN SENSATION RIGHT WHERE THE KEY FOB WAS LOCATED. THINKING I HAD POKED MYSELF WITH ONE OF THE ATTACHED KEYS (FOR HOME AND WORK), I IMMEDIATELY REMOVED THE KEY FOB FROM MY POCKET AND TOSSED IT INTO A CUP HOLDER. THE INTENSITY OF THE PAIN, HOWEVER, CONTINUED TO PROGRESS. ABOUT 4 HOURS LATER, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE AREA. IT WAS IN THE SHAPE OF THE KEY FOB WITH AN ULCERATED AREA IN THE MIDDLE. IT WAS EXTREMELY RED AND SWOLLEN. I CLEANED THE AREA GENTLY, AS IT WAS INTENSELY PAINFUL LIKE A BURN. THE NEXT DAY, THE AREA WAS MUCH MORE SWOLLEN AND HOT TO THE TOUCH. AS THE DAY PROGRESSED, THE AREA BEGAN OOZING AND BLISTERING. THE PAIN CONTINUED TO BE VERY INTENSE. IN THE LATE AFTERNOON ON 9/5/18, I VISITED A DOCTOR AT MY PRIMARY CARE FACILITY. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A SECOND DEGREE BURN WITH A SECONDARY INFECTION. A PRESCRIPTION OF ANTIBIOTICS WERE PRESCRIBED, WHICH I BEGAN IMMEDIATELY. ON THE MORNING OF 9/6/18, THE OOZING HAD RESOLVED FOR THE MOST PART. THOUGH THE AREA WAS STILL SWOLLEN AND PAINFUL, IT HAD SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED AFTER 2 DOSES OF ANTIBIOTICS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE SHIFTER CABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,564.
OCCASIONALLY, WHEN OPERATING MULTIPLE WINDOWS FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR PANEL, THE LOCKS ENGAGE OR DISENGAGE. THUS FAR, THIS SYMPTOM ONLY HAPPENS IN PARK. ALSO, UPON PLACING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURNING TO ACC, THE VISTA ROOF OCCASIONALLY BEGINS TO RETRACT WITHOUT THE OPERATOR TOUCHING ANY OF THE VISTA ROOF CONTROLS.
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED GREATER THAN 15 MPH REMOVING PRESSURE FROM GAS PEDAL CAUSES RPM TO DROP FROM 4000 TO 1000 AND CAR JERKS SUDDENLY. PRESSING GAS WHEN THAT OCCURS CAUSES CAR RPM TO INCREASE WHILE MPH DOES NOT THEN CAR JERKS HARD AGAIN. CAN OCCUR WHILE DRIVING IN CITY OR HIGHWAY
ENGINE STALLES AND HP DROPS. CANT GO PASS 7MPH UNTILL YOU FLOOR IT FOR AWHILE OR STOP AND TURN IT OFF AND RESTART THE SUV.IT HAPPENED AS DRIVEN DOWN THE STREET THREE TIMES.
2015 FORD ESCAPE STALLING IN TRAFFIC. MY CAR THAT HAS LESS THEN 60K MILES ON IT STALLED IN TRAFFIC 2X IN THE PAST 14 DAYS. I WAS TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS THE FIRST TIME THROUGH DOWNTOWN DENVER AND THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY HAD IT 5 DAYS AND FIXED THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND IT HAD NEW ISSUES, AS WELL AS THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING IT LESS THEN 24 HOURS LATER MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH PASSENGERS IN MY CAR AND IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING. THE CAR HAS BEEN BROKEN DOWN FOR 12 DAYS NOW.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND THE STEERING WENT OUT AND I COULDN'T STEER THE VEHICLE. I WAS ON A SECONDARY TWO WAY RURAL ROAD, IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR I WOULD BE DEAD AS I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER, WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY, FOR SERVICE. I REVIEWED INFORMATION ON-LINE AND THIS APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED TO OTHER FORD VEHICLES AND THERE WAS A RECALL. I'M BEING TOLD I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE CAR FIXED SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE 2015 ESCAPE AND THERE WAS NO LOANER SO I HAVE TO ALSO PAY FOR A RENTAL. I CONTACTED FORD AND HAVE A CASE NUMBER CAS-15434220. I'M FILLING OUT THIS FORM IN HOPES THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS HAPPEN RESULTING IN SOMEONE BEING KILLED BECAUSE OF A CONTINUED KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
THE LIFTGATE LATCH FAILED CAUSING THE LIFTGATE TO NOT PROPERLY CLOSE AND BE SECURED. WE HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE GATE OPEN AS IT WOULD NOT LATCH. THE VEHICLE HAS A RECALL FOR THE DOOR LATCHES WHICH ARE SIMILAR. THE LIFT GATE LATCH SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL HOWEVER ACCORDING TO OLATHE FORD 913-325-4360, THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND IS A COST TO ME OF OVER $350.00 REFER TO RECALL NOTICE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 WHICH DOES NOT SPECIFY JUST THE 4 DOORS, JUST "DOORS" HOWEVER THE REAR LIFT DOOR PER THE DEALER IS NOT INCLUDED
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON TWO OCCASIONS AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK WHICH LEFT ME WITH NO INSTRUMENTS OR HEADLIGHTS. IT IS CURRENTLY AT BEYER FORD DEALERSHIP IN MORRISTOWN NJ AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE HAS FAILED. I SEE A RECALL FOR 2015 FORD ESCAPES MANUFACTURED IN LOUISVILLE KY DURING THE TIME MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THE RECALL # IS 15V406000 ON YOUR WEBSITE.
THE MESSAGE CENTER ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLANK NOTHING ON THE SCREEN IT'S ALL WHITE
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SCREEN MULTIPLE FUNCTION DISPLAY FAILED TO DISPLAY INFORMATION. THE MULTI FUNCTION DISPLAY WOULD SHOW EITHER A BLACK OR GRAY SCREEN, PERIODICALLY WITH WHITE LINES, WITH NO READOUTS SHOWING AT ALL. APPARENTLY A RECALL (15CO3) WAS ANNOUNCED AND THE DEALER PERFORMED THE RECOMMENDED SOFTWARE UPDATE AT 32,837 MILES WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM PERMANENTLY. THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED AT APPROXIMATELY 39K MILES. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO MAKE REPAIRS USING A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FAILED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT MY EXPENSE. I AM ASKING YOU IF THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL OR IF AN ADDITIONAL RECALL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED OR SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED.
SHIFTER CABLE BROKEN
THE BATTERY IS MOUNTED WITH A TOP STRAP THAT KEEPS THE BATTERY IN THE BOX, BUT IT DOES NOT PREVENT THE BATTERY FROM MOVING AROUND IN THE BOX. THE POSITIVE CABLE THAT ATTACHES TO THE BATTERY IS VERY RIGID - IT DOES NOT ALLOW THE FREE MOVEMENT OF THE BATTERY. RESULT: THE POSITIVE BATTERY POST IS BEING STRESSED SEVERELY, CAUSING BATTERY FAILURE, INCLUDING INTERMITTENT OPERATION DUE TO THE POSITIVE BATTERY POST MOVEMENT (NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN) MAKING OPEN AND THEN CLOSED CIRCUIT CONNECTIONS. IT IS POSSIBLE/PROBABLE THAT THIS CONDITION WILL RESULT IN AN EXPLOSION. POOR DESIGN. IF THE ENGINEERS WANT TO ALLOW THE BATTERY TO MOVE WITHIN THE BOX, THEY MUST PROVIDE A FREE-FLOATING POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE, OR MODIFICATIONS MUST BE MADE TO SECURE THE BATTERY SO IT DOES NOT MOVE. THERE ARE MANY FORD ESCAPE OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME TYPE OF BATTERY PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD, ON THE FORDESCAPE.ORG FORUM. THERE ARE SEVERAL PHOTOS OF FORD ESCAPE BATTERY EXPLOSIONS ON THE INTERNET. HOPING YOU CAN ACT FAST BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED!
AS I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES. WITH MINUTES, I HAVE NOW POWER TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE CAR BATTERY IS DEAD COMPLETELY. THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECKS OUT FINE. ONCE THE BATTERY HAS BEEN FULLY CHARGED, THE BATTERY LIGHT GOES OFF. THE NEXT DAY, SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED. I AM STRANDED BOTH TIMES. I CALL THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT, ASHEVILLE FORD, TO HAVE THEM TOW IN TO LOOK AT IT. THEY ARE TOO BUSY AND LOOK AT IT FOR 2+ WEEKS. I HAVE TO CALL A DEALER 40 MILES AWAY FROM ME AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THEM. WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT. THAT IT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AND THEY NEED TO 'FLASH' OR RE- SET THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AT A 200$ COST TO ME. THIS IS INFURIATING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURES AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. *TT
VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FORD ESCAPES FROM 2015. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS GONE ON WITH THE CODE TO "REPLACE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE"
WIPERS CAME IN SUDDENLY WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN MOTION. THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 DAYS. HAD TO TURN OFF ENGINE TO GET THEM TO STOP.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE SE WITH 95,000 MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 55MPH WHEN I HEARD A FAINT WHISTLING NOISE. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AT FIRST BECAUSE IT WAS SO FAINT, BUT THEN I REALIZED I WAS PUSHING THE GAS AND THE RPMS WOULD SHOOT UP VERY HIGH BUT THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED PULLING OFF THE ROAD RAPIDLY SLOWING DOWN. I GOT OFF AND I KEPT PUSHING THE GAS TRYING TO GET MYSELF OFF UNTIL I WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY STOPPED. AT ONE LAST ATTEMPT TO GET MYSELF TO A SAFE SPOT TO BE STOPPED I PRESSED THE GAS THE CAR LUNCHED FORWARD AND MADE A VERY LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. AT THIS POINT I DIDN'T THINK THE CAR WOULD GO AGAIN SO I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. AFTER EVERYTHING COOLED DOWN IT DROVE FINE FOR THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER BUT I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE CENTER OF THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE MAN THERE EXPLAINED TO ME THE REASON IT STOPPED ACCELERATING IS BECAUSE OF A 'SAFTEY' FEATURE CALLED LIMP MODE WHERE YOUR CAR SHIFTS INTO A LOWER GEAR TO AVOID FURTHER DAMAGE. AFTER A FEW DAYS THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TWO NEW SENSORS THAT DETECT WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS OVER HEATING. I PAID $350 FOR THAT AND WENT ON MY WAY. NOT EVEN 20 BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE SERVICE CENTER THE CAR STARTED MAKING THE EXACT SAME NOISE AND BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET. WE HAD IT TOWED BACK THE SERVICE CENTER. THEY HAD IT BROUGHT TO FORD AND FORD SAID THAT IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I DON'T THINK A CAR WITH NOT EVEN 100,000 MILES ON IT SHOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I REALLY HOPE FORD CAN DO SOMETHING FOR ME. I AM A YOUNG FEMALE AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR THAT HAS NOW LEFT ME STRANDED MORE THAN ONCE.
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED GREATER THAN 15 MPH REMOVING PRESSURE FROM GAS PEDAL CAUSES RPM TO DROP FROM 4000 TO 1000 AND CAR JERKS SUDDENLY. WHEN SWITCHING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEARS THE CAR JERKS. WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR IS SLOW TO TAKE OFF, OR WON'T PICK UP SPEED CAUSING NEAR COLLISIONS.
I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY RAMP AND MY BRAKES WERE ROCK SOLID. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE FOUND THAT MY BRAKE BOOSTER AND VACUUM PUMP WERE AFFECTED DUE TO SOMETHING HAD BROKEN OFF OF THE CAMSHAFT. I WAS INFORMED BY FORD IT REQUIRES THE ENGINE TO BE BROKEN DOWN TO SERVICE THE CAMSHAFT.

POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO NAVIGATE MY CAR. STEERING FAULT MESSAGE CAME ON DASHBOARD. TOOK TO DEALER HAS LACK OF POWER STEERING,CODE U003000 STEERING GEAR INTERNAL FAULT NEEDS PSCM GEAR. HAS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES BUT NOT UNDER WARRANTY. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE ESCAPES TO FIND OUT WHY THEY ARE COMMONLY HAVING THIS PROBLEM. CAR IN MOTION IN A PARKING LOT.
I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A PROBLEM WITH MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE. I HAD PARKED MY ESCAPE AND IN A BUSY INTERSTATE REST AREA. WHEN I RETURNED I GOT IN AND STARTED THE CAR. I PLACED THE SHIFT LEVER IN THE DRIVE POSITION. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK AND STEPPED ON THE GAS. THE CAR THEN WENT BACKWARDS ALMOST HITTING THE CAR THAT WAS BEHIND MY CAR. I PUT THE SHIFT LEVER INTO PARK AND THE CAR AGAIN WENT BACKWARDS. I THEN TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I CALLED FORD AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. THERE THEY SAID THE SHIFT CABLE WAS DEFECTIVE AND IT HAD COME LOOSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION LEAVING THE CAR IN REVERSE. SO I COULD NO LONGER CONTROL WHAT GEAR THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN. I REPORT THIS BECAUSE IF ANY ONE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME THEY COULD HAVE HURT BY BEING PINNED BETWEEN TWO CARS.
ABS BRAKE FAILURE. GOING DOWN A HILL, BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR (ABS LIGHT CAME ON), THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LIGHT SHUT OFF, BRAKES CAME BACK, BUT NOT BEFORE HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US.
THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING PARKED UNDER A CARPORT FOR ALMOST 24 HRS. WHEN IT INEXPLICABLY CAUGHT FIRE. THE ENSUING FIRE BURNED THE CARPORT AND SPREAD TO THE STRUCTURE CAUSING EXTENSIVE PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF THE RESIDENCE. A PASSERBY MADE THE ELDERLY OCCUPANTS OF HOME AWARE OF THE FIRE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET OUT. THE AREA OF FIRE ORIGIN WAS IDENTIFIED AS BEING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE APPEARS TO BE SOME OTHER EVIDENCE AND/OR INSTANCES OF FIRES IN THESE VEHICLES OCCURRING THE SAME WAY.
TRANSMISSION CABLE BUSHING IS DEFECTIVE, CABLE POPS OFF SHIFTING LEVEL. THIS CAUSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE THE DRIVER PLACES THE VEHICLE IN PARK, BUT TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL.
WHILE DRIVING OVER A PATCHED ROADWAY,THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER CAME THROUGH THE FLOOR.UPON MY INSPECTION,THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK TOWER AND WHEEL WELL WERE SERIOUSLY RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR.THE RUSTED STEEL HAD BEEN UNDERCOATED AND HAD NOT APPEARED TO BE UNSAFE WHEN VIEWED AT AN EARLIER TIME.THIS VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN AND HAS CAUSED ME A SERIOUS FINANCIAL LOSS.
WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED WITH ENGINE OFF AND REAR HATCH OPEN, THE REAR HATCH SOMETIMES AUTOMATICALLY CLOSES. WHILE LOADING THE CAR WITH GROCERIES, FOR EXAMPLE, THE HATCH CAME DOWN AND HIT ME OR SOMEONE ELSE IN THE HEAD OR SHOULDER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. THE LIFT GATE WAS NOT ACTIVATED BY MY FOOT OR KEY. IN FACT, THE FEATURE WHERE THE HATCH CAN BE OPENED BY YOUR FOOT UNDERNEATH HAS NOT BEEN WORKING FOR A WHILE. I HAVE HAD MY 2015 FORD ESCAPE AT THE DEALER'S TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM ON TWO OCCASIONS IN 2016. THE PROBLEMS WERE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.
NEW 235/45R19 FIRESTONE DESTINATION LE2 WERE BOUGHT FOR MY CAR ON 7/27/2017. THE MILAGE ON MY CAR AT THAT TIME WAS 42,982, AND MY CURRENT MILAGE IS 56,875. AT THE SAME TIME THAT THE TIRES WERE PUT ON AN ALIGNMENT WAS DONE ON MY CAR. SINCE THEN THEY ARE ROTATED AND BALANCED ON A REGULAR BASIS. ON 5/24/2018 I BEGAN HEARING A LOUD NOISE AND SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND BELIEVED IT TO BE A WHEEL BEARING. WE STOPPED DRIVING THE CAR AND AFTER THE WEEKEND IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THAT ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WASN'T THE WHEEL BEARING, BUT THERE WAS A BROKEN BELT IN ONE OF THE TIRES, AND THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CURRENT TREADS ON MY TIRES ARE 7/32 ON 3 TIRES AND 2/32 ON THE BROKEN TIRE. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE PLACE WERE THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER THAT AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT ON MY OWN. I CONTACTED THE FIRESTONE/BRIDGESTONE COMPANY AND HAVE FOR THE PAST WEEK AND A HALF BEEN TRYING TO GET MY TIRE REPAIRED, AND BEEN WITHOUT A CAR. THERE ARE NO TIRES AVAILABLE IN MY SIZE WITHIN THEIR COMPANY TO REPLACE MY TIRE, SO I NOW HAVE TO BUY 4 NEW TIRES FOR MY CAR SO I AM ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE IT AGAIN. THEY HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH AND I HAVE CONTINUALLY HAD TO MAKE PHONE CALLS, AND NOW HAVE TO SPEND MONEY OUT OF POCKET TO BUY TIRES BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO FULFILL THEIR WARRANTY.
THE ESCAPE HESITATES WHEN YOU GIVE IT THE GAS IT ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE IT IS SLOWING DOWN. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE.
UPON UTILIZING THE REMOTE KEY FOG TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLES DRIVERS DOOR, THE DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DOOR IN THE PARKING LOT OF A BUSINESS AFTER RETURNING RETURNING TO MY VEHICLE FROM SHOPPING.
I HAVE OWNED MY 2015 ESCAPE SINCE MARCH 2016. BEGINNING 6 WEEKS AGO THE CAR FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THE FORD KEY. HAD CAR TOWED. TOLD BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED BOTH CAR AND KEY FOB BATTERIES. WITHIN 7 DAYS THE CAR REFUSED TO START AFTER SITTING IN THE GARAGE FOR 3 DAYS. HAD TO GET IT TOWED AND THE BATTERY RECHARGED. THIRD TIME THE CAR REFUSED TO START IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN AND THEN LEFT SITTING FOR 5 DAYS. ONCE AGAIN HAD TO HAVE A JUMP START. TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP AND TOLD DIAGNOSTIC INFO STATES NO ISSUES. TECHNICIAN IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CAR REFUSING TO RECOGNIZE KEY FOB OR NOT STARTING. EXPLAINED THAT CAR ONCE JUMPED STARTED RUNS FINE AS LONG AS I DRIVE IT DAY TO DAY. ONCE IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 2 OR MORE DAYS DOES IT AGAIN REFUSE TO START. APPEARS THAT SOMETHING SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS PULLING ALL THE JUICE OUT OF THE BATTERY REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SAYS. SECOND ISSUE WITH THIS CAR HAS BEEN THE REAR HATCH. TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE REAR HINGES AND SAID THEY ARE BENT SO WHEN YOU CLOSE THE HATCH USING THE BUTTON ON THE HATCH OR KEY FOB, HATCH COMES DOWN BUT WON'T LATCH TIGHT AND GOES BACK OPEN. IF YOU MANUALLY SLAM THE HATCH SHUT, THE LATCH SEEMED TO BE TIGHT HOWEVER MY HATCH IS NOT SQUARE ANYMORE. IT IS TIGHT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT HAS A 1/4 GAP ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHICH LETS IN AIR AND WATER INTO THE CAR. TOLD THAT I'D NEED TO HAVE A BODY SHOP TAKE THE HATCH OFF AND REPLACE BOTH HINGES. THIS CAR HAS NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT NOR HAS IT BEEN TREATED ROUGHLY SO EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THE HATCH GOT OUT OF ALIGNMENT TO THE POINT IT IS CAUSING ISSUES WITH SHUTTING TIGHTLY? THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW WHERE THE HINGES INSTALLED ARE TOO LIGHT WEIGHT TO STAND UP TO NORMAL WEAR AND USAGE. LIVING IN THE UPPER MIDWEST THIS CAR IS EXPOSED TO WINTER WEATHER INCLUDING SALT AND ROAD SAND WHICH IN TURN CAN GET INTO OPEN SPACES AND RUST.
WE HAD A FLAT TIRE AND ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE IT TO THE SPARE BUT THE LUG WRENCH THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT FIT. SO WE CALLED AAA. WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY COULD NOT FIND A TOOL TO TAKE OFF THE NUTS SO WE COULD NOT PUT ON THE SPARE. HE WAS GOING TO SEND FOR A TOW TRUCK TO GET IT TO A SHOP TO CUT THEM OFF. I DID NOT HAVE THE TIME TO WAIT SO I CAME BACK LATER AND WAS ABLE TO POUND ON A 3/4 SOCKET AND GET THE NUTS OFF. THE AAA A PERSON SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD NUTS. THE DISCOUNT TIRE PEOPLE SAID THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE ALSO. I MENTIONED IT TO A FRIEND AND THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND HAD TO SPEND OVER 120 TO GET THEIR LUG NUTS REPLACED AT A FORD DEALER WHO KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM ALSO. TO RAP THIS UP I WAS STRANDED WITH OUT BEING ABLE TO PUT ON THE SPARE EVEN WITH AAA HELP AND HAD TO RENT A CAR TO MAKE IT TO MY DESTINATION ON TIME. MANY PEOPLE ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A REMOTE LOCATION IT COULD HAVE BEEN LIFE THREATENING. WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE AND PARK IN A PARKING LOT. I DO NOT HAVE PICTURES BUT CAN PROVIDE IF NEEDED.
THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES DUE TO ERRATIC MOVEMENT OF THE WIPER BLADE WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. FORD MOTOR CORP KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. AS IS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION AND IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE HIGHWAY AND/OR CITY OR STATE HIGHWAYS WHEN IT RAINS. *JS *TT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KOONS STERLING FORD (46869 HARRY BYRD HWY, STERLING, VA 20164, (703) 430-7700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,309.
THE TINY PIECE THAT CONNECTS THE SHIFTING CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION BROKE. I HAD THE CABLE REPLACED ($900 REPAIR) AND THE PLASTIC PIECE BROKE AGAIN ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER. THE PLASTIC PIECE IS NOT MADE TO BE REPLACE MEANING THE WHOLE CABLE MUST BE REPLACED SO THE ENGINE MUST BE LIFTED OUT FOR THE REPAIR. THIS CABLE MAKES THE GEAR SHIFTER INSIDE THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY MOVE THE GEAR ARM INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN IT BREAKS THE CARE CAN'T BE SHIFTED INTO PARK, DRIVE, NEUTRAL, ETC. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN IT BROKE THE FIRST TIME I WAS IN A VERY TIGHT PARKING GARAGE BACKING OUT OF THE SPACE I WAS PARKED IN. I THEN TRIED TO SHIFT THE GEAR TO DRIVE SO I COULD PULL OUT AND THE PLASTIC PIECE BROKE. I BLOCKED THE WHOLE PARKING GARAGE EXIT FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR WHILE I WAITED ON A TOW TRUCK. IT WAS A NIGHT MARE BECAUSE WE COULDN'T EVEN GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY. MY CAR IS A 2015 IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN IN THE SAME PLACE 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN A MONTH. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PIECE IS HARD TO ACCESS WHICH MAKES FOR AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR! THIS IS A DANGER!
THE ENGINE CONTINUE TO RUN AFTER THE KEY IS TURNED TO OFF. I HAD THE KEY IN MY HAND AND THE CAR CONTINUE TURNED ON. I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO TURN OFF THE CAR. I TESTED THE CAR IN DRIVE WITHOUT THE KEY AND IT WAS IN MOTION LIKE NORMAL, JUST WITHOUT THE KEY.
