ENGINE LIGHT INDICATES CANISTER PURGE VALVE IS FAULTY. AFTER RESEARCH I FOUND THESE NEW VALVES CONSTANTLY GO OUT. IN 2009 THE VALVES WERE REDESIGNED. THIS NEW DESIGN IS FAULTY. NEW/NEWER CARS ARE AFFECTED WITH THIS POORLY DESIGNED VALVE.
I HAVE NOTICED THAT AFTER APPLYING NORMAL PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, THE ABS INDICATOR AND THE HILL ASSIST NOTICE APPEAR. ALSO ANOTHER WARNING LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH BOARD. ALSO, THE SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED 10 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS. EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE WILL TORN ITSELF OFF AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MINUTES. I NOTICED THAT THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AFTER STOPPING AT A LIGHT. IT MAY COME ON AT OTHER TIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE, BUT I NOTICE THE LIGHT WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE.
THE TAILGATE IS NOT CLOSING OR OPENING PROPERLY. IT TOOK ME OVER 1.5 HRS TO GET THE DOOR COMPLETELY SHUT. I HAS HAPPENED A FEW OTHER TIMES AND I KNOW AM SCARED TO USE IT. I DON'T WANT TO BE STUCK WITH THE DOOR UNABLE TO SHUT, RESULTING IN MY BATTERY BEING DRAINED & GETTING STUCK SOMEWHERE BECAUSE THE TAILGATE WON'T SHUT. I LOOKED ONLINE AND IT SEEMS I AM NOT AT ALL THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS HAD THIS ISSUE!
AUG 2019 HAD TO REPLACE LUG NUTS ON 3 WHEELS AND JAN 2020 HAD TO REPLACE 4TH WHEEL I WAS TOLD THAT ROUND TIPS ON NUTS WERE LOUSE AND THEY WERE BULDGED WHEELS COULD COME OFF THESE WERE ORIGINAL I ASKED ABOUT RECALL NONE WEST HERR DEALER ITOOK TO MY MECHAINIC AND HE CHANGED 3 WHEEL NUT AUG THEN JAN HE FIX THE RR LUGS I V HEARD OTHERS COMPLAIN GRAND AUTO TECK GRAND IS NY DID MY REPAIRS WHEELS NEVER CAME OFF
SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DESIGN OF THE WINDSHIELD. I JUST REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD ON JULY 19, 2019, AND HAVE A CRACKED WINDSHIELD AGAIN TODAY, AUGUST 12, 2019. IN MY 30 YEARS OF DRIVING, I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD FOR CRACKING AND NOW I'VE DONE IT TWICE IN LESS THAN A MONTH.
I BELIEVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH PREVIOUS MODELS OF FORD ESCAPES AND OTHER MODELS WITH THE RECALL BASED ON THE COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSING BURNING AND FIRES IS STILL A RELEVANT ISSUE IN MODELS FURTHER. I BOUGHT MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE A YEAR AGO FROM CARMAX WITH 61K MILES. WITHIN ONE MONTH AND CONSTANT SERVICE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP BURNING COOLANT. NO LEAKS OR ANYTHING I PAID TO HAVE IT CHECKED BY THREE DIFFERENT MECHANICS BECAUSE ALL OF THEM TOLD ME THERE HAD TO BE A LEAK. CARMAX STATES THAT THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THEY CAN NOT COVER. BUT IT SEEMS TO NOT BE ANY PERSON AT FAULT. THERE ARE NO LEAKS I'VE HAD THE CAR INSPECTED. IT'S STILL RUNS A YEAR LATER, BUT CATCHES ON FIRE IF LEFT RUNNING IN PARK OR IDLE FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES. SMOKES A TON FIRST THEN SOMETHING IGNITES. EVERY TIME YOU START IT THOUGH THERE'S A CLOUD OF THICK WHITE SMOKE WHICH EVENTUALLY CLEARS WHILE I'M DRIVING. DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR THIS SO I HAVE TO KEEP DRIVING IT LIKE THIS. FORD HAS HAD THIS ISSUE ALREADY IN THE PREVIOUS MODELS. I'VE ATTACHED THE CUTOUT FROM THE PRIOR RECALL ON PREVIOUS MODELS. I APPRECIATE AND THANKYOU FOR YOUR TIME. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE APART OF HELPING THE BIGGER PICTURE.
WE BOUGHT THE 2016 FORD ESCAPE BRAND NEW. WE'VE OWNED IT ALL 3 YEARS AND IT HAS 80,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION BROKE. I KNOW THERE ARE ISSUES WITH OTHER FORD TRANSMISSIONS SO I'M WONDERING IF THE ISSUE EXTENDS INTO MY VEHICLE.
BLANK MULTIPLE FUNCTIONAL DISPLAY (MFD) AND VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND JUST STARTED UP WHEN NOTICED; CANNOT DETERMINE MILEAGE AT THE TIME. AND VEHICLE LOCKED WHEN IF THERE WAS A FOB INSIDE AND MOTOR NOT RUNNING; HAPPENED AUGUST 1, 2019
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. ON JULY 25, I STARTED MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO MANUEVER OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. I TURNED OFF IGNITION, PLACED IN PARK TO EXIT VEHICLE TO INSPECT TIRES, AS I THOUGHT I PERHAPS HAD A FLAT TIRE, AFFECTING THE STEERING. I THEN RESTARTED THE CAR AND ON THE DASH INFORMATION RECEIVED A MESSAGE TO THE EFFECT OF "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". I CHECKED THE OWNER MANUAL AND IT SAID THIS WAS A FAULT OF THE STEERING AND TO TAKE CAR FOR SERVICE. SINCE THE CAR WAS UNMANEUVERABLE AND UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN, I CALLED FOR TOW SERVICE TO TAKE CAR TO DEALER. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE AND INFORMED ME IT WOULD BE A $2200 REPAIR, BUT THAT THEY WOULD CALL FORD TO SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE. THEY THEN CAME BACK WITH A $1200 QUOTE FOR REPAIR. SINCE I NEEDED VEHICLE, I AGREED AND THE FINAL INVOICE WAS $1000. I ASKED SERVICE MANAGER IF THIS WAS INVOLVING A SAFETY RECALL WITH FORD AND SHE SAID AT THIS TIME IT WAS NOT, BUT TO HOLD ON TO MY RECEIPTS IN CASE FORD MADE ONE. FORD/LINCOLN HAS HAD RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES IN THEIR FLEET FROM OTHER YEARS, SO THEY SHOULD BE AWARE THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES.
MY ESCAPE HAS EXACTLY 88,000 MILES IN IT . I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING. I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH AND THEN IT DROPPED TO 10MPH JERKING ME HARD. THEN IT REVED UP ON ITS OWN AND STARTED GOING LIKE 60 MPH. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND IT WAS GOING IN REVERSE THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG I CANNOT BELIEVE I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAUSED ONE. THE JERKING OF THE CAR WAS SO HARD I WAS AFRAID THE AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY. MY THREE YEAR OLD FORD IS RECEIVING A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT IS NOT COVERED.
DRIVING AT 55MPH ON A HIGHWAY, CAR SPUTTERED A FEW TIMES THEN SLOWED TO ZERO, WOULD NOT RESPOND TO GAS PEDAL. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD CAR TOWED TO GARAGE AND JUST GOT WORD THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED... IN MY 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 70000 MILES. FORD SAYS TOO BAD OUT OF WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, IT CONTINUED TO MOVE EITHER BACKWARDS OR FORWARDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HOMER SKELTON FORD (6950 HANNA COVE, OLIVE BRANCH, MS 38654, (800) 490-7699) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER CABLE BUSH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH IN MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE. SUDDENLY THE CAR FLASHED "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER STEERING. THE STEERIMG WHEEL FELT LIKE IT LOCKED, AND BECAME SUPER DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. WE CAME VERY CLOSE TO HAVING A MAJOR ACCIDENT, AS THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RESPONDING NORMALLY. THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING COMPLETELY WELL BEFORE THIS. IT HAS JUST 60,000 MILES ON IT. WE ARE WAITING ON THE MECHANIC'S CALL, BUT HE INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR AS THE VISUAL INSPECTION DIDN'T TURN UP ANY PROBLEMS. WHAT A DANGEROUS THING TO HAPPEN WITH NO WARNING IN A 2 AND A HALF YEAR OLD CAR.
DRIVER WAS DRIVING ON DIRT ROAD ON A HOT DAY. THE TEMPERATURE WAS 102 DEGREES OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO LOSE POWER AND SUDDENLY IT JUST STALLED. THE DRIVER THEN WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN UNTIL IT FINALLY WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. THIS TIME THE DRIVER WAITED AN ADDITIONAL 20 MINUTES AND FINALLY IT WORKED AGAIN UNTIL THEY MADE IT BACK TO A GAS STATION. THE FUEL LEVEL WAS BARELY UNDER A HALF A TANK. THE VEHICLE TENDS TO SHUT DOWN ON A HOT DAY WHEN FUEL GOES BELOW A HALF A TANK. IT IS CONSISTENT WITH OTHER 2016 FORD ESCAPES.
THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING DOWN RURAL HIGHWAY ON A HOT DAY. IT SHUT DOWN ALMOST IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS 99 DEGREES. THE FUEL LEVEL WAS AT A QUARTER TANK. THE DRIVER THEN LEFT THE VEHICLE OFF ON THE SIDE OFF THE ROAD FOR 10 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO TRAVEL ANOTHER 20 MILES BEFORE BREAKING DOWN AGAIN.
"TAKATA RECALL". WHEN DRIVING A LOUD SOUND IS HEARD AT THE REAR OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SOUND GOES ON AND OFF AND THEN THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE, THE BRAKE GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THEN THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN . THIS HAPPENS WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. THIS WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE. THIS SAME SOUND HAPPEN THREE TIMES BEFORE BUT THE CAR DID NOT SHUT DOWN, THE VEHICLE SHAKE AFTER THE SOUNDS BUT I CONTINUE DRIVING. MY LAST EXPERIENCE WAS FRIGHTENING AND I DON'T THINK THAT THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE WITH THAT SUDDEN STOP I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR END. MY LIFE WAS IN DANGER WITH MY PASSENGER AND ALSO THE TRUCK DRIVER WHO CAME UP BEHIND ME BLOWING BECAUSE HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. TO BE IN THAT SITUATION BY SEEING A VEHICLE COMING TOWARDS YOU AND YOUR VEHICLE IS STATIONERY IN THE ROAD AND IN THE END THE PERSON WHO REAR END YOU WOULD BE AT FAULT. THIS KEEP ON HAPPENING AND I THINK THIS IS A DANGER TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS, THE PUBLIC BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE CANNOT BE CONTROLLED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AFTER THAT INCIDENT
POWER STEERING FAULT MESSAGE POPPED UP WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE AND WE LOST POWER STEERING. WE WERE FORCED TO TAKE THE CAR TO A SHOP 10 HOURS AWAY FROM OUR HOME TO BE REPLACED. WE WILL BE MAKING THE 20 HOUR ROUND TRIP TO GET THE VEHICLE NEXT WEEK AS WE HAS TO RENT A VEHICLE TO GET HOME.
WHEN SHIFTING MY CAR INTO DRIVE THE DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS IN DRIVE. WHEN I SHIFTED THE GEAR SELECTOR INTO PARK THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY CONTINUED TO SAY THAT IT WAS IN REVERSE EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS IN PARK. WITH THE GEAR SELECTOR IN PARK I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKES BUT THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD AND THE ONLY WAY THAT I COULD STOP IT WAS TO STEP ON THE BRAKES AND THEN PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON TO KEEP THE CAR FROM CONTINUING TO ROLL FORWARD. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK DRIVER TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HE SHOWED THAT THE BUSHINGS THAT CONNECTS THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE WAS BROKEN. MY RESEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS IS SAME SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD HAD WITH PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS OF THE FORD ESCAPE RESULTING IN A VEHICLE RECALLED. IT SEEMS THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THE 2016 MODEL YEAR AS WELL, AS I AM EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE FORD ESCAPE 2016 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE THAT OTHER CONSUMERS EXPERIENCED WITH EARLIER MODEL YEAR FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THIS CAR FROM ROLLING FORWARD AT ANYTIME EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF IS TO KEEP ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE RECALL INFORMATION FOR THE EARLIER MODEL YEAR FORD ESCAPES IS RECALL NUMBER 18V471000. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SAFETY ISSUE NOTED IN THIS RECALL IS IDENTICAL TO THE SAFETY ISSUE CONCERNING MY VEHICLE.
FACTORY REMOTE START STOPPED WORKING DUE TO LOW BATTERY. NOW THAT BATTERY IS REPLACED, REMOTE START ONLY LASTS 10 SECONDS BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. ALSO, WHEN CAR IS STARTED MANUALLY, WINDSHIELD WIPES HOP FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING ON JUNE 20, 2019. CONFIRMED IT WAS NOT A FUSE. IT WAS SUMMER WHILE I WAS AWAY ON VACATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED WHICH IS AN 8 HR DRIVE FROM HOME. WIPERS SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED WORKING LIKE NORMAL AFTER TWO DAYS NOT WORKING. THAT SAME DAY ON JUNE 22, 2019 DURING DRIVE IN 95 DEGREE HEAT ON HIGHWAY IN STAND STILL TRAFFIC ON 8 HOUR DRIVE HOME, WIPERS STARTED TURNING ON AT VARIABLE SPEEDS ON THEIR OWN AND COULD NOT BE SHUT OFF, CHANGED SPEEDS, OR AFFECTED BY ANYTHING WITH THE WIPER SWITCH. THE WIPERS ARE NOT AUTOMATIC OR RAIN SENSING AND IT WAS A CLEAR DAY. WIPERS DID NOT TURN OFF UNTIL TRAFFIC CLEARED, THE CAR WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND PRESUMABLY COULD BE COOLED BY THE CAR MOVING. A SLIGHT MELTING SMELL WAS NOTED DURING SPONTANEOUS TURNING ON OF WIPERS. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY CONTROL MODULE AS THE CONNECTION WAS BAD AND AFFECTING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. COST ME $433.47 IN PARTS AND LABOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MALFUNCTION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MARK LEROSE FORD (LOCATED AT 2764 STATE ST, GASSAWAY, WV 26624, (304) 364-5132) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
MY VEHICLE LEAKS IN WATER AT MULTIPLE SPOTS BUT ONE THAT IS EXTREMELY VISIBLE. THIS HAPPENS DURING HEAVY RAIN AS WELL AS DURING A CAR WASH. THIS HAPPENING IS RUINING MY HEAD LINER AND ALSMOST CERTAIN RUSTING MY VEHICLE.THER ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE THAT IS NOT GETTING ADDRESSED FROM FORD I FILL I HAVE GOTTEN A LEMON OF A VEHICLE WITH IN TURN WOULD ALLOW (LEMON LAW TO TAKE AFFECT).
THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED FROM PARK INTO GEAR WHILE IN A PARKING LOT. THE BUSHING WAS GONE FROM THE SHIFTER CABLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN REVERSE. THE SHIFTER LEVER COULD NOT BE PLACED IN PARK.
PURCHASED THIS CAR ON MAY 22, 2018..USED CAR WITH MILEAGE OF 48784 AND WE ARE SENIORS AND DO NOT TRAVEL FAR EACH YEAR. WE WENT TO GET A MAINE STICKER ON OUR VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD NEW BACK BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE NEEDED ASAP. NOW HAS A MILEAGE OF 50284. WE THINK IT IS TOO SOON FOR REAR BRAKES.
A REAR FLAT TIRE, INCONVENIENT BUT NOT A DISASTER, UNLESS THE MANUFACTURER TOOLS YOU ARE SUPPLIED WITH CANT POSSIBLE UNDO THE LUG NUTS, NOW THE SITUATION COULD TURN DANGEROUS.. FORD PUTS A COVER OVER THE LUG NUTS, THAT THE SUPPLIED LUG WRENCH WONT FIT, OR ANY STANDARD TOOL KIT, ' OF COURSE THE DEALERSHIP HAS ONE,,,, WHY ON EARTH SHOULD I HAVE TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALER TO GET THE TIRE CHANGED .FORTUNATELY, MY ROADSIDE ASSISTANT WAS ABLE TO FIX THE TIRE WITHOUT TAKING IT OFF, NOT EVERYONE IS THAT LUCKY...'.
THE APIM IN THE TOUCH SCREEN THAT CONTROLS GPS, RADIO, BLU TOOTH, IS FAULTY SO NAVIGATION WILL STOP WORKING, CALLS ON BLU TOOTH WILL DROP, AND YOU CAN'T CHANGE RADIO STATIONS. MY BACKUP CAMERA WILL ALSO GET STUCK ON THE SCREEN EVEN WHEN I'M IN DRIVE. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ALL TIMES, BUT USUALLY WILL START OUT WORKING THEN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE'S WHEELS WERE TURNED, A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE STEERING ABILITY BECAME DIFFICULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KOONS FORD/LINCOLN (2540 RIVA RD, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,109.
CAR SHUTTERED TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR AT ALL. TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS JUST 100,000K MILES ON THE CAR. TOTAL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT PERFORMED. THE CAR LEFT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY.
I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO PICK CHILD UP FROM DAYCARE AND CAR WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN WHEN GIVING GAS. IT FELT AS IF IT WOULDN'T SHIFT. I TOOK IT TO CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND AS ONLY 60,000 MILES IF THAT AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME MY TRANSMISSION IS OUT AND IT WILL COST ME $9,500 TO $6,000 I FIND IT FUNNY THAT THEY CALLED A RECALL ON FOCUS FROM THAT YEAR ON ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION AND NOW MINE IS OUT AND SOME HOW IT IS MY FAULT. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOW THERE WAS ONGING PROBLEM I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY THAT WHY I BOUGHT NEW THOUGHT I WOULD BE GETTING DEPENDABLE CARE FOR ME DRIVE MY CHILD AROUND IN. THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. IT HAS DONE THIS AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND SLOWER. CANNOT PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC FOR FEAR OF THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING.
STEERING ASSIST FAULT - SERVICE REQUIRED MESSAGE SHOWED UP DURING A ROAD TRIP APPROX 325 MILES AWAY FROM HOME ON STARTUP AFTER A REST STOP. STEERING WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. FAULT CLEARED AFTER RESTARTING CAR SEVERAL TIMES, AND STEERING PERFORMANCE WAS BACK TO NORMAL. CONTINUED HOME, WHILE STOPPING THE CAR FOR FUEL ONCE AND TURNING OFF AND BACK ON THE ENGINE, WITH NO FAULT. UPON ARRIVING HOME, FAULT APPEARED NEXT TIME ON VEHICLE STARTUP. FAULT DOES NOT CLEAR ANYMORE. STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL OVER GEAR SELECTION. REGARDLESS OF SHIFT LEVEL POSITION, "D" OR "S", GEARS WILL NOT SHIFT ABOVE 1ST GEAR, FORCING SPEED TO DECELERATE TO ONLY ABOUT 10 MPH. PARKING POSITION BECAME INOPERATIVE AS WELL, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD WHILE IN "P". NO ALARMS OR WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED. THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO CLIMB AN INCLINE, MEANING THAT EVEN 1ST GEAR IS NOT REALLY ENGAGED. THE PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO A RECALL ISSUED FOR 2013 AND 2014 ESCAPE MODEL YEARS, WHEN THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION DETACHES. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DEALER.
AFTER THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL IN CYLINDER 2 LAST WEEK, THEY NOTED COOLANT IN THE CYLINDER. NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER, THE ENGINE IS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE CYLINDER. THIS SITUATION HAS BEEN KNOWN TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CYLINDER AND CAUSE AN OIL LEAK WHICH CAN CAUSE FIRE. THE MECHANICS SAY THEY CAN DO NOTHING ELSE TO FIX IT AND FORD REFUSES TO FIX THE ISSUE. I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE IN EARLIER MODELS OF FORD ESCAPES AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS THE SAME ISSUE.

BOUGHT NEW TIRES AT 44,500 MILES (MUSH SOONER THAN EXPECTED ) AND INSTALLER COULD NOT REMOVE LUGS AS THEY WERE "SWOLLEN". WENT TO SAM PACK FORD, LEWISVILLE, TX WHERE I BOUGHT VEHICLE. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISORS "SWOLLEN" LUG NUTS WERE A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE DEALERS USED SPECIAL 19 1/2 METRIC SOCKETS TO REMOVE THEM. THEY TOLD ME IT COST $10.00 PER LUG TO REPLACE WITH FORD ORIGINAL LUGS OR THEY WOULD SELL ME AN AFTER MARKET SET FOR $50 AND I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE "SWOLLEN" LUGS REMOVED AND NEW ONES RESTORED. THEY REITERATED FORD AND ALL DEALERS WERE WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT FORD CONTINUES TO INSTALL THE PROBLEM LUGS ON NEW VEHICLES. THE LUG WRENCH SUPPLIED WITH THE AUTOS NO LONGER WILL FIT THE "SWOLLEN" LUGS SO YOU WOULD BE STRANDED IF A FLAT OCCURS.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD ESCAPE 4WD. IT IS CONSISTENTLY STALLING WHEN DRIVING. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I PAID $22,000 FOR THE CAR AND IT IS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD. THE INTERNET HAS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS REPORTING THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2016 FORD ESCAPE. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR AS IT STALLS IN INTERSECTIONS WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. FORD COMPANY IS STATING IF IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THEIR IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ACCEPT AN ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AT MY COST WHICH IS UPWARDS OF $6000. I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH THE CAR AND IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE TO DO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING IS THE REPAIR. THEY KNOW THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON AND A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I GUESS THEY HAVE WEIGHED THE COST OF THE RECALL AND DECIDED PEOPLE SHOULD DIE FIRST BEFORE THEY WILL BE FORCED TO DO THE RIGHT THING BY ACKNOWLEDGING AND FIXING THE PROBLEM.
MY CAR HAD A PROBLEM IDLING LAST WEEK. GOT IT TO THE MECHANIC. MECHANIC TRIED TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG DUE TO A PROBLEM IN THE CYLINDER BUT SPARK PLUG WAS FROZEN. FOUND COOLANT UNDERNEATH. MECHANIC HAD WORKED AS A MECHANIC AT A FORD DEALERSHIP, SAID THIS PROBLEM WAS PREVALENT WITH FORDS. I CONTACTED FORD. THE FORD REPRESENTATIVE SAID I HAD NO EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE PRODUCT SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE ONLY LONG-TERM FIX IS AN ENTIRELY NEW ENGINE BECAUSE COOLANT IS LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CAR IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD.

ALL 20 LUG NUTS WERE CORRODING FROM ROAD SALT AND COULD NOT BE REUSED OR BE REMOVED IF PLACED ON THE RIM AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER AND PROMISED A CALL BACK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET RECEIVED A RESOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,962.*BF CONSUMER WAS TOLD IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN FROM THE DEALER.*JB

This has been an intermittent problem that Ford dealership cannot rectify unless it happens to them. Because I can't make it happen, and it has not happened close to a dealership, they cannot see it. The brakes seize up and won't stop the vehicle. I have no idea when it will happen - it happens with no warning. It has happened in the mountains in NC and on the highway, in a gas station, in parking lots and in my garage among other places. It is very frightening. Last night when it happened it lasted for about 45 minutes - the longest ever, and the brakes made a terrible blaring noise. When the brakes seize up, I have to drive very slowly and practically stand up on the brakes to bring the car to a halt. Thankfully it has not happened at high speed. This puts me, any passengers and other vehicles and their passengers and drivers at risk. The problem has occurred several times, but has not been confirmed by a dealer. By the way, the brakes have been squeaky since the first few months of ownership. At one point the dealership resurfaced the brake pads and rotors. It seems like the same issue the 2016 Expedition was recalled for. I am scared that this will result in a terrible wreck. The first occurrence was on April 1, 2019. The most recent was last night, 10/18/2022. Today, Ford Customer Service gave me a case number of CAS39180084
I PULLED OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION TO TURN LEFT GOING BETWEEN 5-10 MPH WHEN MY FORD ESCAPE STALLED. THE ELECTRONICS REMAINED ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND IT DISPLAYED A MESSAGE THAT READ "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK". THE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY ROLL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY RESTART THE CAR FIRST TRY.
ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON AND OFF FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. FIRST GARAGE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE O2 SENSORS, SO I REPLACED THEM. THAT NIGHT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN SO I BRING OUT BACK IN, THIS TIME IT'S THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HOLD OFF AND GET A DIAGNOSIS FROM ANOTHER SHOP, 3 HITS WITH THE 2.0 TURBO. I BRING IT INTO FORD TODAY AND THEY'RE SAYING IT'S BOTH.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS 2016 FORD ESCAPE IN OCTOBER, 2018. IT MADE IT UNTIL MAR. 2019. NO WARNING LIGHT, NOTHING. IT HAS 78,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION BLEW. THEY ARE TELLING ME AT THE JENSEN FORD DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL COST 6,508.00 DUE TO ALL THAT IS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN IT GETS HOT IT LEAKS TRANSMISSION FLUID BADLY. IT TOOK ONLY 2 DAYS AND NO WARNING AND IT BLEW. NOW I CAN'T PAY FOR IT, FORD WILL NOT PAY FOR IT AND I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD.
THIS COMPLAINT IS A FOLLOW-UP TO ONE FILED EARLIER (11181564). THE PROBLEM IS NOW SOLVED THIS WIRE ISSUE IS NOT THE ONE IN THE TSB AND NOT CURRENTLY IN A RECALL. THIS VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 43,000 MILES PRODUCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE TSB 13-12-12. MOTOR SUDDENLY STALLING, BACKFIRE SOMETIMES, ROUGH RUNNING, LOSS OF POWER, ETC. THE WIRE HARNESS HAD WORN THROUGH THE WRAP AND EVENTUALLY ONE OF THE WIRES IN THE BUNDLE ATOP THE MOTOR MADE INTERMITTENT CONTACT WITH A PART OF THE MOTOR. THIS CAUSED THE PCM TO THROW NUMEROUS CODES AND DISABLE CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEMS. RANDOM, ERRATIC AND UNPREDICTABLE. WIRE BUNDLE ALIGNED WITH THE FUEL RAIL BEGINS AT THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE MOTOR. AT THE POINT WHERE IT BEGINS UP COME TO THE MOTOR THERE IS A POST (ALUMINUM, TOP, FRONT, DRIVERS' SIDE OF MOTOR). THIS WIRE BUNDLE WAS NOT SUFFICIENTLY PROTECTED FROM CHAFFING. THE REMAINDER OF THE WIRE IS WELL SECURED AND INSULATED BUT THIS POINT IS LITERALLY AND ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND AS THE PROBLEM AS IT WAS SO INTERMITTENT. NOT COVERED UNDER 5/60 WARRANTY AND MY DEALER CHARGED ME $318.00. IN TOTAL I'VE SPENT OVER $600 THE GETTING THIS FIGURED OUT AND RESOLVED. THIS LAST BREAKDOWN PLACED MY FAMILY IN GREAT DANGER AS THERE WAS NO SAFE PLACE TO GET OFF THE ROAD (70 MPH INTERSTATE WITH LITTLE SHOULDER AND MERGING STATE HIGHWAY). THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME HAVING TO TOW THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS. I AM CERTAIN OTHERS WILL EXPERIENCE THIS FAILURE AND I HOPE NO ONE GETS HURT. IN MY CASE IT ALSO DISABLED THE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS AND AIRBAGS WHEN IT OCCURRED.
