DASH AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS PROBLEM HAS REMAINED INTERMITTENT UNTIL TODAY, ON THREE OCCASIONS THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG HAS BEEN CHANGED, THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND THE MODULE HAVE ALSO BEEN CHANGED. TODAY THE TRUCK IS WITH THE FORD DEALER, AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION.
SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTING IT HESITATES AND OTHER TIMES IT SHIFTS HARD LIKE IT FEELS LIKE IT'S GONNA BREAK I GUESS YOU CAN SAY IT CLUNKS OR JERK'S YOU IN YOUR SEAT A BIT I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON 2/20/17 TODAY IS 2/26/17 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN THE VEHICLE KINDA THREW HER BACK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING THREW THE GEARS THIS VEHICLE IS A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED THIS HAPPENS IN TOWN OR ON THE INTERSTATE I WILL BE CONTACTING MY DEALERSHIP ON 2/27/17 TO LET THEM NO WHAT IS GOING ON
LOSING ENGINE COOLANT.
WE ONLY HAVE 16000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND TWO TIRES ARE AT 5/32 TREAD DEPTH. FORD SAYS THE WILL NOT WARRANTY THEM UNTIL 3/32. THIS CREATES A HAZARD FOR US AS WE LIVE IN A SNOW BELT OF THE U.P. MICHIGAN. THIS TREAD DEPTH IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR TRACTION ON SNOW AND ICE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK, WHICH CAUSED HIM TO BE EJECTED FROM HIS SEAT. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE DASHBOARD. ALL THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A RIGHT SHOULDER INJURY AND THE LEFT ULNAR NERVE WAS SPLIT IN TWO AND WAS SMASHED. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MUFFLER, THE RIGHT QUARTER PANEL, THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE TRUNK, THE REAR BUMPER, AND THE STRUCTURAL FRAME BEHIND THE BUMPER'S REINFORCEMENT BAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED UPWARDS AND MADE A VERY LOUD NOISE WITHOUT WARNING. THE GLASS SHATTERED AND THE PIECES FELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DID NOT DO ANYTHING, BUT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS UNUSUAL. THE DEALER SPECULATED THAT SOMETHING MAY HAVE HIT THE ROOF TO CAUSE THE EXPLOSION; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DISAGREED. THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THE CONTACT A CASE NUMBER AND PROMISED TO CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER'S, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,592. GOT A CERTIFIED PREOWNED 2016 AWD FORD ESCAPE WITH ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER JACK AND LUG WRENCH. GOT A FLAT ON DRIVING ON A WELL MAINTAINED GRAVEL ROAD GOING 20 MPH. THERE WAS LESS THEN 2000 MILES ON THE NEW KELLY AS 235/55 R17 WHEELS (NO ROAD HAZARD! JUST GRAVEL). TMPS SYSTEM WORKED, PULLED OVER RIGHT AWAY AND WATCHED THE TIRE DEFLATE IN FRONT OF MY EYES! GOT JACK AND DONUT OUT. LUG WRENCH DOES NOT FIT LUG NUTS. COULDN'T CHANGE THE TIRE W/O ASSISTANCE. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED ON 2014 VEHICLES SO FORD IS AWARE. BE CAREFUL AND CHECK BEFORE YOU ALSO GET TRAPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I AM NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM IS THE WRENCH OR THE NUTS...BUT PLAN ON WORKING THE PROBLEM OUT WITH THE DEALER!
THE BACK HATCH CAN BE FOOT ACTIVATED, BUT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, SUCH AS SITTING ON THE BACK BUMPER AND PUTTING ON GOLF SHOES, I'VE ACCIDENTALLY SLIPPED A FOOT BACKWARDS WHILE BENDING OVER, WHICH HAS ACTIVATED THE HATCH TO CLOSE, AND IT'S CLOSED ON MY HEAD SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO, WITH THE BACK SEATS FOLDED DOWN, AND TRYING TO PUSH SOMETHING AS FAR FORWARD AS POSSIBLE, MY FOOT WOULD SLIP UNDER THE CAR ENOUGH TO ACTIVATE THE DOOR, CLOSING ON ME. IT'S ALSO HAPPENED WHILE UNLOADING GROCERIES IF MY FOOT GETS TOO CLOSE TO THE BUMPER. I'VE HAD THE BACK HATCH HIT MY HEAD WELL OVER A DOZEN TIMES SINCE I LEASED THIS VEHICLE. AT ALL TIMES THE CAR WAS PARKED, AND NOT TURNED ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THIS FEATURE (FOOT ACTIVATION ONLY) COULD BE DEACTIVATED, BUT THEY TELL ME IT CANNOT BE. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT BY THE HATCH CLOSING ON THEIR HEAD.
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 40MPH, VEHICLE CUT OFF AND DISPLAYED A MESSAGE: TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK. AFTER PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING VEHICLE, THE VOLUME ON RADIO MOVED UP AND DOWN ON ITS OWN WHILE TRANSMISSION IN THE PARKED POSITION. LATER THAT DAY VEHICLE CUT OFF WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF USING REMOTE STARTER. DEALER UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM OR FIND ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES. *TR
CARBON MONOXIDE: THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST FREQUENTLY IN THE VEHICLE. I TURNED ON A MULTI-GAS MONITOR TO FIND CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS AS HIGH AS 100 PPM AND OXYGEN CONCENTRATIONS BELOW 19%. THIS OCCURS AT IDLE AS WELL AS WHILE DRIVING. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WINDOWS ROLLED UP OR DOWN, AIR ON OR OFF, OR RECIRCULATION ON OR OFF. I DO NOT GET ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND SAW THAT THERE WAS A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH 2011-2014 EXPLORERS BUT NOT MUCH INFORMATION ON THE ESCAPE. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THERE WERE NOT AWARE OF AN ISSUE EITHER. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN AND SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE ONLY MECHANICAL PROBLEM THAT THE VEHICLE HAS IS A WARNING LIGHT AND REDUCTION OF POWER WHEN THE TURBO CHARGER GETS OVERHEATED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND THE AWD AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND I GET A MESSAGE THAT THEY ARE DISABLED AND/OR INACTIVE. I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY GET A CODE. THEY RESET IT AND IT FITS NOT GO BACK ON. OK. A WEEK LATER I'M BACK IN WITH THE SAME WARNING, PLUS I LOST HILL ASSISTANCE. THEY GET THE SAME CODE AND WANT MY VEHICLE TO TRY AND MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN, WHY!? THEY PUT 800+MILES ON MY CAT AND SAID NOTHING HAPPEN. YET NOT EVEN TWO DAYS AND I GOT THE AWD AND HILL ASSISTANCE WARNING AGAIN!!! AT THE TIME THESE SENSORS WENT, I WAS ONLY DOING AROUND 5-10 MPH. *TR
CONSTANT SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE BRAKES. THIS PROBLEM WAS ADDRESS TO THE FORD MOTOR PEOPLE. THE CAR TAKEN IN SEVERAL TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DEER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED RIB AND BREAST INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER COLLISION CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH ON INTERSTATE 95 WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION AND I RAN INTO THE BACK OF A 18 WHEELER TRUCK. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT HURT. FORD INSISTS THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. *TR
THE 2016 FORD ESCAPE DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT, I CHECKED FOR IT. IT NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES HAS DEVELOPED WHAT I WOULD CALL TORQUE STEER. IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT UPON FAIRLY HARD OR SUDDEN ACCELERATION FROM A STOPPED POSITION. MY AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER SAYS IT IS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE TO DO THIS AND CLAIM THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND NO REPAIRS NEEDED.
WHEN PURCHASE 2016 FORD ESCAPE WITHIN A MONTH SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON YOU CAN SMELL COOLANT SOMETINES SMOKE SMELL TOOK VEHICLE IN THEY TOLD IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, FROM 2016 TO 2021 I HAD TO PURCHASE COOLANT OVER TEN TIMES IT WAS ALWAYS LOW THE SMELL CONTINUE TOO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMES ON STAYS ON HOWEVER TOOK IT IN THREE TIMES WITH THE SAME ANSWER NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IS FINE. I WROTE LETTERS TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS REPORTING ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL CONCERNS THAT NEEDS REPAIRING.-REPORTING MY EYES AND BREATHING WAS AFFECTED WHEN INSIDE THE FORD ESCAPE-SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WOULD TURN OFF THERE WAS ALSO AN ODOR OF SMOKE AND COOLANT THESE ISSUES CONTINUE DAILY. EVIDENTLY FORD DIDN'T CARE BUT IT WAS REPORTED TO THEM. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY - THE CAR STALLED OUT ON THE FREEWAY. PRIOR TO STALLING, THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND THEN STALLED.
ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND THE SERVICE ENGINE NOW LIGHT COME ON. I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE DOING 65MPH THIS MORNING WHEN IT CUT OUT. I WAS LUCKY TO MAKE IT INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE WITHOUT GETTING HIT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE ENGINE SPUTTERS LIKE IT IS ONLY RUNNING ON ONE CYLINDER. IF I SHUT IT OFF AND RESTART IT, THE SERVICE ENGINE NOW LIGHT GO OUT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT UNLESS THE SERVICE ENGINE NOW LIGHT WAS ON, THEY CANT FIX IT. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF TWO WEEKS. I AM AFRAID I WILL GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
JUST TURNED OVER 9,000 MILES ON MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE "STALLS" AND STARTS TO SHUDDER WITH THE ENGINE FAULT LIGHT COMING ON. NO CONTROL OVER ACCELERATOR. OR STEERING. THANK GOODNESS I WAS NOT TURNING ON A BUSY STREET OR TRYING TO GET ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE STREET SINCE THE CAR WOULD HARDLY GO. I SHUT OFF THE CAR, STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT SEEMED FINE. I PULLED BACK ON THE STREET AND IT DID IT AGAIN. PULLED OVER AND DID THE SAME THING, GOT BACK ON THE STREET AND IT STALLED FOR THE 3RD TIME. I PULLED OVER AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER, IT WAS UNSAFE AND UNABLE TO DRIVE. I WAS TOLD TOLD TODAY IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDED REPLACED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE SITTING DEAD IN THE WATER LIKE THAT ON A BUSY STREET, I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED OR EVEN KILLED IF I HAD BEEN ON AN INTERSTATE OR BUSY 4 LANE. MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WAS WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH AND IMMEDIATELY CAME TO RESCUE ME!
WHILE DRIVING THE FORD ESCAPE ON A MAIN ROAD TODAY THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED TO IDLE VERY ROUGH, THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CAR DECELERATED RAPIDLY AS I WAS GOING UP A SLIGHT HILL. I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT, WHERE I SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND PROCEEDED HOME. I HAVE CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. *TR
DRIVING IN DETROIT TRAFFIC AND IT STARTED TO SPUTTER AND SHUDDER AND WOULD NOT MAINTAIN SPEED. DID GET IT OFF ROAD. TURNED OFF. RESTART WITH SAME SYMPTOMS. TURNED OFF AND LET SIT FOR FIVE MINUTES. RESTARTED AND RAN OK. STRAIGHT TO DEALERSHIP. DIAG CODE: P2111. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY. RUNS FINE NOW. ACCELERATOR PEDAL MUCH LESS TWITCHY THAN BEFORE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK AT 2 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH MY VEHICLE DIED. NO POWER STEERING. VERY DANGEROUS. THE SCREEN SAID 'ENGINE FAULT'. MANAGED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND IT RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY. DROVE A LITTLE FURTHER, SAME THING. MANAGED TO GET IT HOME BUT IT DID THIS 4 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THE WEEKEND. IT IS AT THE SHOP TODAY BUT THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON NOW SO I DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM.
WAS DRIVING AND VEHICLE BEGAN SHUDDERING VIOLENTLY AND SERVICE ENGINE NOW CAME ON AND VEHICLE ENGINE DIED. THANK GOODNESS I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY YET AND FOUR PEOPLE HELPED TO PUSH ME OUT OF THE WAY.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (ROUGHLY 70 MPH) MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF WITH NO WARNING AND SAID "ENGINE FAULT. SERVICE NOW". BY THE GRACE OF GOD I DID NOT GET REAR ENDED. I SUCCESSFULLY RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND MADE IT HOME. THE SAME THING HAPPENED THE NEXT MORNING, THIS TIME ON CITY STREETS GOING ROUGHLY 20 MPH DURING RUSH HOUR. AGAINST, I WAS BEYOND LUCKY TO HAVE NOT GOTTEN INJURED OR WORSE AND THERE WAS NO WARNING AGAIN.

I WAS TRAVELING 60 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY, I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH AN ERROR MESSAGE OF "ENGINE FAULT". ONCE I MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE ENGINE IDLED DOWN TO 400 AND SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO CRANK IT UP AGAIN AND THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STARTED JUMPING VIOLENTLY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS RECALL 16B32.

LSUDDEN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER UNEXPECTEDLY DRIVING AT LOW OR HIGH SPEED. RUFF RUNNING WITHOUT ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. WARING MESSAGE OF "HILL ASSIT" NOT ACTIVATED. VERY DANGEROUS SENARIO WHILE ON INTERSTATE. OCCURRED 3 (THREE) TIMES IN 2 DAYS. CAR WAS A HERTZ RENTAL CAR AND I WAS TOLD, AFTER COMPAINING THAT REQUESTED CAR WAS NOT AVAILABLE, THAT THIS CAR IS BETTER AND MORE RELIABLE THAN MY REQUESTED TOYOTA RAV 4. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AT 35 MPH THEN ENGINE DIED, SERVICE ENGINE NOW LIGHT CAME ON, MESSAGE CENTER SAID CONTACT DEALER. RESTARTED AFTER PUT IN PARK. WAS TOLD NO CODES, BUT BATTERY HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED, CLOCK WAS RESET AND ALL RADIO PRESETS ERASED AND BLUETOOTH ERASED.
I WAS CRUISING AT ABOUT 35-40MPH ON CITY STREET. SUDDENLY THE MOTOR PRACTICALLY QUIT. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 5 MPH. THE "STABILITY CONTROL" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY, THERE WERE NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME ON THAT 9:20 PM SUNDAY 7/24. THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED AFTER DOING WHAT THE MANUAL ADVISED: TURN OFF THE MOTOR, RESTART (AFTER A FEW MINUTE AT LEAST, I FOUND OUT). THE NEXT MORNING AND AFTER STARTING THE MOTOR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD FORD DEALERSHIP CHECK THE VEHICLE THAT MORNING.
STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. NO WARNING SIGNS OR ANYTHING. COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING WITH ONLY 1186 MILES ON THE CAR. OWNED IT LESS THAN 2 MONTHS.
WE WENT ON VACATION IN OUR NEW ESCAPE AND THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP SURGE AND OTHER THINGS THAT CAME CLOSE TO CAUSING 2 ACCIDENTS. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT FORD BEING ALLOWED TO PUT OUT FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS FOR YEARS. MY TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILD WITH ONLY BEING A FEW MONTHS OLD. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
I WANT TO REPORT A LIFE/HEALTH SAFETY ISSUE FOR A VEHICLE THAT I RENTED AT REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT ON 17 JULY 2016 AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON 20 JULY 2016. THE VEHICLE THAT WE RENTED IS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE RED, PLATE NUMBER NC EAL2306 AND BUDGET CAR NUMBER 45880623. WE ONLY DROVE THE CAR ON SUNDAY THE 17TH THREE OF THE FOUR OCCUPANTS HAD THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS: HEADACHE, DIZZINESS, AND NAUSEA AFTER ONLY A FEW MINUTES IN THE CAR WITH THE A/C ON IN RE-CIRCULATION MODE. THE REASON I REMEMBER THIS DETAIL IS THAT THE TEMPERATURES WERE VERY HOT AND WE WERE TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR COOL INSIDE AS THE VEHCILE HAS BLACK LEATHER SEATS. WE STOPPED BY A RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH AND MY WIFE THOUGHT SHE HAD SOME BAD FOOD. SHE HAD SEVERE NAUSEA, HEADACHE, AND OTHER UPPER RESPIRATORY SYMPTOMS. OUR DAUGHTER HAD SIMILAR SYMPTOMS. I HAD SINUS DRAINAGE, A HEADACHE AND DIZZINESS. WE WENT OUT LATER IN THE DAY TO CHECK THE ROUTE FOR OUR DAUGHTER'S VOLLEYBALL CAMP AND WE'RE IN THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR AND A HALF. SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED WITH THREE OF FOUR OCCUPANTS.
NOW LOOKING BACK THE WARNING SIGNS WERE WHEN PUT IN REVERSE WOULD ROUGHLY KICK BACK . THEN ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING ABOUT 50MPH, THERE WAS A JOLT AND AN "ENGINE FAULT,SERVICE NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I NOTICED THAT I WAS SLOWING DOWN AND COULD NOT GO OVER 30MPH. I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH THIS BEFORE AFFECTING YEARS 2008-2013, BUT NO RECALL WAS EVER MADE. VERY SURPRISED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED YET AND STILL OCCURRING IN 2016 VEHICLES.
IN JULY,, 2016 THE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN WHEEL. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED WHERE THEY FOUND A "FAULTY STEERING RACK" THAT, I ASSUME WAS REPAIRED. TODAY, MARCH 8, 2017 I WAS PARKING THE VEHICLE IN TOWN AND THE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. IT WAS, AGAIN, TOWED TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP. LUCKILY, BOTH TIMES I WAS NOT IN TRAFFIC BUT ON A SIDE STREET. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE ON A HIGHWAY OR A MAJOR ROAD THINGS MAY HAVE TURNED OUT DIFFERENTLY AND COULD HAVE BEEN LIFE-THREATENING.
DRIVING MY FAMILY HOME FROM A VACATION, I LOST MY POWER STEERING ON THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE. THE VEHICLE HAS 2557 MILES ON IT. THE DASHBOARD INDICATED, "STEERING ASSIST OFF - SERVICE REQUIRED - I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND FEARED FOR MY SAFETY, THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS ON THE TURNPIKE. I CALLED MY DEALER WHO REFERRED ME TO FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS FLAT BEDDED IN TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP. I CHECKED THE NHTSA WEBSITE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY KNOWN ISSUES RELATED TO STEERING WITH MY YEAR AND MODEL FORD. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NONE FOR THE 2016 AT THIS TIME, THERE WAS A HUGE RECALL WITH THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE FOR THIS SAME STEERING ASSIST ISSUE. HOPEFULLY, NOBODY WILL GO THROUGH WHAT I DID. THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE EASILY CALLED A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
I BOUGHT MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE BACK IN JANUARY BRAND NEW AND AT 12,000 WHILE DRIVING IT ON A BUSY STREET, THE ENGILE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT STARTS SHOWING A MESSAGE THAT SAYS "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW". IT IS VERY SCARY WHEN THAT HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING IT SINCE IT JUST STARTS SHAKING AND IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE. WE HAVE HAD A 2011 FORD ESCAPE THAT HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND IT GOT RECALLED FOR IT. YOU WOULD THINK THAT FORD WOULD BUILD THEIR NEWER VEHICLES SAFER AFTER KNOWING THAT THEIR OLDER VERSIONS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THANKFULLY WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD SERVICE CENTER AND THEY ARE GOING TO FIX IT HOHOPEFULLY. BUT IT SUCKS BECAUSE IT'S OUR ONLY VEHICLE WE USE TO GET TO WORK AND THEY HAD NO LOANERS AVAILABLE. HOPEFULLY FORD DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
IN FOLLOW UP TO MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT NUMBER 10885168, STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION WHILE OPERATING ON THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE, WHICH RESULTED IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING, THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW STEERING RACK AT 2500 MILES.
AFTER DRIVING 3200 MILE. WE NOTICED WATER DROPS FROM 1/8 TO3/16 OF AN INCH IN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TAIL LIGHTS.. IN THE MORNING I TOOK THE AUTO TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY TOOK PICTURES OF THE FINE WATER DROPLETS AND SENT THE PICTURES AND OTHER INFO TO MAIN FORD OFFICES. I WAS CALLED BACK A FEW HOURS LATER. NOTIFIED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL AND WATER WILL GO OUT THE LENS'S VALVE. WHEN I SAID I WOULD BRING IT BACK DAILY IF NEEDED TO SOLVE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD NOT TO DO SO UNLESS A DIFFERENT PICTURE COULD BE TAKEN BECAUSE IT TOOK ALL OF 3 HOURS OF HIS TIME TO REVIEW AND DECIDE WHAT TO DO, WHICH WAS NOTHING.
WHEN I BACK THE CAR UP, STOP, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, MOVE FOOT TO ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WANTS TO FLOOD OUT, OR DIE. THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AND WHEN IT DOES MOVE IT SOMETIMES SHUDDERS AGAIN. MY 2.5 L ENGINE SEEMS TO BE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2.0 ENGINES ARE HAVING. A ROLLING REVERSE TO DROVE ENGAGEMENT SHUDDER ON ACCELERATION WHICH CONTINUES AFTER YOU START MOVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN IT RAINED, AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE WATER POURED INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO BECOME DRENCHED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. ON MAY 6, 2016 WE PURCHASED A 2016 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM 2.0 AWD. ON 6/22/16 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO A SHUDDERING WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND GAS IS APPLIED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF SEYMOUR FORD OF JACKSON , MI, WHO HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL, PERFORMED A REPROGRAM OF THE PCM. ON 8/15/16 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN WITH THE SAME SHUDDERING COMPLAINT. SEYMOUR PHONED THE FORD HOT LINE TO ASCERTAIN IF THERE WERE ANY ADDITIONAL RECALLS. SEYMOUR WAS ADVISED BY FORD TO COMPARE LIKE VEHICLES ON THEIR LOT. THEY TESTED A 2015 AND 2017 ESCAPE "BOTH HAD SAME ISSUE" . I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO BE SURE TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND WAIT FOR THE GEAR TO ENGAGE THAN ACCELERATE. I FOUND UNDER COMPLAINTS.COM OTHER OWNERS THROUGHOUT THE US WHO HAVE MADE THE SAME COMPLAINT. ONE HAS EVEN HAD FORD ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE WORKING ON IT. I INFORMED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT I UNDERSTAND THEY DID NOT BUILD THE CAR; HOWEVER, IF THIS CONTINUES TO OCCUR I WOULD BE BACK. THEY INFORMED ME THEY WERE THERE FOR ME. THAT SAID IT APPEARS EITHER FORD IS NOT TELLING THEIR DEALERS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND OR THEY ARE TELLING THEIR DEALERS TO STONEWALL. EITHER WAY FORD SHOULD AT LEAST MAKE IT KNOWN TO THE DEALERS AND THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE WORKING ON A SOLUTION. WE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THE CAR AND WE ARE RETIRED ON A FIXED INCOME, ALTHOUGH WE ARE UNDER WARRANTY, I DO NOT WANT TO BE CONSTANTLY GOING TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT WITH THE SAME RESULTS. JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 5 MONTHS AGO BRAND NEW WITH 14 MILES ON IT AND JUST THE OTHER DAY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRES FOR THE AIRBAG WAS PINCHED. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS DONE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. IF I HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT I WOULD HAVE HAD A 50/50 CHANCE OF THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING.
TAKATA RECALL. DASHBOARD CLUSTER. ALL DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT NOT WORK. SIGNAL FOR DOOR GAS SEATBELT SPEEDOMETER . THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND DASHBOARD WHEN DEAD.
TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING FUNNY AROUND 5 MONTHS AFTER GETTING MY ESCAPE. I WOULD PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT WOULD JERK OR NOT GO INTO GEAR A FEW SECONDS. THEN IT STARTED SHUDDERING WHEN I WOULD DRIVE IT. AT FIRST MAYBE A FEW TIMES A DAY. YESTERDAY IT STARTED SHUDDERING AND JERKING ALL DAY. AT ONE POINT I THOUGHT SOMETHING HAD HIT ME OR I HAD HIT SOMETHING AS MY CAR LITERALLY WENT FORWARD AND A LOUD CLUNK WAS HEARD FROM BEHIND. SCARED BOTH ME AND MY PASSENGER AS IT FELT LIKE I HAD HIT SOMETHING. I AM REALLY SCARED TO DRIVE THIS THING BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL START JERKING, SHUDDER, ETC. I HAD AN SE 2013 AND HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THE TRANS BUT IT WAS NOT A TITANIUM MODEL, WHICH I BELIEVE IS THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT OF OUR DRIVE TODAY WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK AS IT IS VERY BUSY AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS GOING TO STALL, SHUDDER, JERK, WHATEVER. FORD NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THEIR ESCAPES AT LEAST THE TITANIUM MODELS. THEY HAVE ALL THE COMPUTER STUFF ON THOSE AND ALTHOUGH MINE IS NOT A TOP OF THE LINE TITANIUM, IT IS STILL A TITANIUM. I CAN'T GET THIS CAR IN UNTIL NEXT MONDAY A FULL WEEK AWAY. THE DEALERSHIP (TAYLOR FORD) SAID HIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS FULL OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. DOESN'T THAT TELL YOU SOMETHING??
