the door pops when opening and closing. sometimes gets stuck while opening or closing. looks like the door panel is coming undone from the door. arm break check.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the driver's side door partially opened, and upon attempting to secure the door, the contact heard an abnormal popping sound emanating from the door hinge. The following day, the contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, he found that the driver's side door was unable to latch closed and required an excessive amount of force to securely close the door. As a result, the door hinge detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE23013 (Structure). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The left-hand side on the door all automatically just stopped working properly. It makes a popping cracking noise when you open the door all the way. The car is a 2020 it is under 40,000 miles. The window does not roll down all the way due this malfunction. It’s been going on for a while and the car dealership says that i am responsible for paying for it even though it’s a defect. It should be under warranty from Ford. It’s a mechanical issue. The door should open and close properly if I have never been in an accident. I have had many problems with this car since i bought it brand new such as getting new brakes at 1000 miles (they claim because the car was sitting there), a new reservoir because of the windshield wiper fluid was leaking, my headlamp needed to be fixed amongst other things. I feel like this car was a lemon that was sold to me.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while opening the front driver's side door, it made an abnormal popping sound. Additionally, the rearview camera failed to display an image or displayed a distorted image while in operation. The front driver's and passenger's side windows inadvertently rolled down after being rolled up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the front driver's side door hinge was welded to the door and the rearview camera and windows were calibrated. The failure recurred and the front driver's side door hinge detached from the door, preventing the window from rolling up and down. The dealer was made aware of the failure, but the vehicle had not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
The piece that keeps my driver side door from opening to the point of breaking has broken from the door, and in turn is preventing my driver side window from opening/closing. The cause of this problem is that the solder came loose from the inside of the door. If the wind catches my door, I risk the chance of it buckling at the hinge of the driver door. I have taken it to the dealership in my area and they have reported it to Ford, who states that they are aware of the problem and are trying to find a solution. I am being told that it is going to be a recall, but it is not ready yet? It has been this way for almost 2 months. I took it to the dealership the first time on 3/5/24. Still nothing. This is unacceptable. If anything they can put on a new door. Something needs to be done. They tried to get me to trade it in...I cannot afford that! The date below is approximate, it was around then that I noticed, but it started making a noise when I opened/closed the door for about a week before I called dealership about the problem.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while in the front driver's seat, the key fob was used to open the trunk. The contact stated that there was suddenly the mechanical sound of the trunk closing and the contact observed that the trunk had fallen approximately 5 inches. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred while walking to grab items from the trunk, the contact opened the trunk with the key fob. While the contact was in the trunk the contact suddenly heard the mechanical sound of the trunk closing and jumped back and observed that the trunk had fallen halfway. The contact stated that there was an unknown part that appeared to be disconnecting from the ride area of the trunk. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Weld came undone. Driver door does not work properly. Window does not roll down
Getting AWD OFF, Hill Assist off, advance traction control off, no collision assist. This happened when put spare tire on and stayed after putting original wheel & tire back on. Checked online and it has been happening to a lot of people, please there is a need for a recall My car is only 20000 miles Ford Escape 2020 SE AWD
The driver side door arm is broken
The driver front door check arm spot welds are breaking, making the door hard to open and close. The vehicle only has 56,000 miles.
On February 23,2024 the driver door started making very loud scraping and popping noises with physical resistance to opening or closing. The drivers power window started working very slowly like it was being dragged on, and then wouldn't go back up. Pushing on exposed window edge got it finally to go up and close. Over the next several days the noise and resistance has gotten worse. Found out NTSB has opened an investigation into this issue, and Ford has a service memo SSM 50150 as the cause is faulty spot welds on interior door anchors which can lead to door failure and unexpected opening. SO far Ford has not offered any help to repair this issue. I have filed a claim without result yet.
Replaced AWD Module at 49,134 miles - four months after purchasing from a Ford Dealer. It is obviously a faulty module with all the complaints online. Individuals shouldn't have to spend a fortune when Ford knows there is/was a problem with the part, and failed to recall it and perform its due diligence. Ford makes the money and individuals keep going into debt. They need to be held accountable. Multiple repairs shops are aware of the problem! The safety of drivers/passengers is at risk.
Opening/closing driver door is very difficult must do slowly. Window does not go down. I can see three holes where the spot weld holding the hinge is gone.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that when the driver’s side door was opened, there was a loud popping sound coming from the hinges. Additionally, when the driver’s door was ajar, the window would roll up and down as designed; however, when the door was closed, the window failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the door, door hinge, and window regulator needed to be replaced. The contact stated that only the window regulator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,125.
Approximately a week ago we noticed a popping sound in our driver side door. You can see where the rivets have popped free from the sheet metal. This car is over its 3 year warranty by about one week. Yet, the dealer and Ford motor company do not want to do anything to replace our door. This is an issue that ford acknowledged as a problem on this specific car. But, no TSB or recall has been issued yet. Hopefully by leaving this message, the NHTSA will look into this concern. I don't need my wife driving this car with a door that is not safe. Thank you!
Drivers door spot welds that hold the reinforcing angle for the door check have broken loose allowing the door check angle to move inside of door, this makes it difficult to close the door all the way because the angle is hitting something inside of the door. Looking online this appears to be a common problem, Ford issued a service bulletin for this issue, (SSM 50150), we called the local Ford dealership and was told that since the vehicle is out of warranty there is nothing they can do. Vehicle has about 14,000 miles on it but is about 8 months out of warranty, it was used very little for the first 2 years due to Covid 19 pandemic shutting down the University that is the owner. The passenger door spot welds are also beginning to break loose.
My driver door began clicking and popping and I was unable to open my door to exit the vehicle . My driver window would not roll down. The following day the metal door arm had popped loose. And where the hinge was welded to the door. 3 holes were found and the metal hinge in the door started moving freely. I am a home care nurse and depend on my vehicle. It feels like the door is going to fall off. This scares me, because I am not sure if I will be unable to open my door or window to exit in case of an emergency. I am also fearful the door will fall off. I called ford and was told no recalls were reregistering for my vin number. I was told my warranty ran out and any repair will have to be paid fully by me. Ford refuses to put customer safety first in this situation. Please advise. Thank you.
Driver's side door weld broke. Took to Ford dealership (Future Ford of Concord). Was told on first appointment it was a known issue and that Ford would not cover repair, but a door replacement was needed. Door was unable to be ordered per service tech and car was returned to me. Rescheduled second appointment so they could order the door. Car was with dealer for a week, door was not shipped to parts department because of memo stating door issue is known, but no recall has been issued. Called Ford's customer service line and was told this is a known issue and they are awaiting a recall in May or June, but don't know how to resolve the issue so can't issue the recall yet. Meanwhile, my door is in operable (window cannot go up and down) the hinge weld is broken and makes a severe popping sound. Additionally, when Future Ford looked at door they broke the aesthetic cover on the interior of the door and there is a huge bulge near the window where you can now see the interior of the door. Ford stated I need to wait for the recall and no parts will be sent to the dealer to fix.

My driver’s door started making a loud noise. Then it popped real loud and now it has no spring. It will not stay open for me to get out of the car. You have to hold it open. The window will only go down about an inch.
Drivers side door was creaking and now the window will not go down. Reading other complaints seems like a weld issue on the door catch. I do not want this to open while I am driving. I have 41k miles so my basic warranty is not in play. Please let me know if there are other warranties that will cover this.
Welds that hold the driver door have broken lose causing the door to make a popping sound when opening and closing. You can see where the weld has broken and the inner brackets are no longer attached. Cant open door all the way as it causes it to bind up and not close. Tried to upload pictures but keep getting an error message.

The driver door welds have broken. The door has been investigated by Courtesy Ford, Hattiesburg, MS. They stated the door would have to be replaced at a cost of $2600. No warning lamps were indicated. Also, the breaks squeal when in reverse.
The door check bracket is broke to where my door makes a terrible noise and I hear this is affecting over 300,000 Ford escapes
* Spot Weld Joints failed on driver side door. The welds have failed. * Cannot open drivers side door due to to spot weld failure. * Dealer has seen the issue and said the only option is a new door. *Dealer has notified Ford Motor Company. I have a 5 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty that I purchased from Ford Motor Company. Ford told the dealer it is not a part failure so not covered under my warranty and the cost should fall back to the customer. *No. I was getting into my car to leave work on 2/15/2024 and when I opened the door I heard the loud popping/cracking sound.
Drivers door popping won’t close all the way window hitting something when you try to roll it down spot welds broken in door
Door hinge on driver side making cracking noise when opening and closing door. Unable to roll down window. Took to Ford Dealership to look at issue and they referred me to a body shop to fix the door hinge before they can complete work on the window issue.
The drivers door is becoming harder to open and close. Was told it is a faulty weld on the door arm. This is a safety concern due to not being able to get out of the vehicle.

The driver door popped open at 70 MPH on the interstate. Pulled over and the door was jammed open about 12 inches. We could not get the door to close or get the window to go down. We had to get out the passenger side. We finally forced the door closed with two of us pushing on it. Now it won't open all the way and the window is stuck about 6 inches from closing. Extremely dangerous situation. The vehicle has 56.000 miles and we purchased it new. Now my wife refuses to ride in it. We are both [XXX] . It's unbelievable that the Ford Motor Company has not addressed this! My dealer is stating the repair could cost us as much as $2000 out of pocket, The NHTSA is our only hope.. Popping noise coming from drivers side door. There is resistance when shutting the door and window will not go down. No incidents occurred that would have caused this to happen.
The vehicle without warning lost power as I was driving in the middle of a road way. The engine stayed running but only revs. No check engine lights or messages. Thankfully I was headed down hill and was able to coast through the intersection that was turning yellow and had just turned red as I coasted through. I coasted and pulled over to a side street and proceeded to put vehicle in park and shut it off. I then tried to start and put it back into drive. Nothing. I shut it off again waited 10 minutes then started and it started driving. Then lost all ability to give power to the wheels. Vehicle was taken to the dealership where they said it had metal in the transmission fluid. The vehicle was scheduled to have a fluid exchange for the transmission the next day. They couldn't get it out of park either then it did slam into drive for them. They said it needed a new transmission. For the cost of $7,500 it now has a new transmission from ford. The only warning I finally got was through the Ford pass app after the vehicle has finally been at the dealership for a couple days. That is when it indicated a power train fault and problem with transmission.
Door chuck broke and door would not fully open had to get repaired I went to my car mechanic as I would have had to pay because I am no longer under warranty

THE HINGES IN MY DRIVERS DOOR HAVE BECOME UNATTACHED AND NEED TO BE FIXED. I WAS BEING QUOTED A 3800.00 TO FIX IT. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A CAR THAT HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. I AM VERY DISPAPPOINTED AS THIS IS MY 5TH FORD ESCAPE AND LOVE THE CAR. BUT THIS CAR IS A PIECE OF CRAP. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE HINGE PIN WELD BROKE INSIDE THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR.
Drivers side front door welding has come off the cross-arm bracket making the door make a scratching sound when opening it closing. Has also caused the window to have issues. Door doesn't always latch correctly not and because of the welding that came undone afraid the door will fall off. This could happen while drive and cause not only my car with myself and my family to get hurt but could potentially danger other people. FORD refuses to fix the issues without making me pay for a whole new door when the welding that came undone is a manufacturing flaw that Ford did, nothing that consumers are doing wrong.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated while opening the front driver's side door, the door made an abnormal popping sound and failed to close securely. The contact inspected the door and noticed that the spot welds had fractured on the side of the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the front driver's side door needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened; however, no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 39,300.
Last week, I heard a popping noise when opening my driver side front door of my 2020 Ford Escape. I had the issue diagnosed by my local Ford dealership as broken spot welds on my door. Since then, the issue has progressed and my door no longer closes properly. It is a safety issue because my door is not closing properly and continuing to get worse. I do not feel comfortable driving until it is fixed. I was referred to a body shop by my local dealership for the issue and will have it repaired this week. The body shop confirmed the broken spot welds on my driver side front door.
I reported my 2020 Ford Escape last year. It went into the shop for inspection at Cook ford in Texas City after the ford recall for the doors. I also had reported it here. Kyle at Cook ford did a thorough inspection but advised me that their dealership did not have a paint and body shop and referred me to other dealerships with the ability to fix my car. After going to two dealerships, I ended up at Maik Haik in Pasadena Texas. They said they had two doors in stock and three months later my car was still in the shop and not fixed. They had put me in a rental and said in early December that the rental was not being covered by Ford and they were having to "eat" the expense. So, they returned my car in December with hopes of getting parts for it in the future. It now has been two months and no call from them Now your website says I do not have an open recall on my vin, but it does! My car is still not fixed! I am [XXX] and the windows don't work and the locks also have been effected by the problem with the doors! My [XXX] brother and I got locked out of and In the car several times and I had to use my app to unlock the door or climb in the back to get in! During the time the dealership had my car they wiped off all the history in my app and I am not able to reconstruct the history of my car! Including the recalls! I am very upset! Failure in the driver side front door control arm. After researching, there appears to be spot weld failures where the arm attaches to do door itself. It seems my vehicle is having the same issue. The arm completely detached from the door and was unable to close it.
