WINDSHIELD WIPER LIGHT GOES ON AND CHIMES WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT. ALL PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. THE DEALER KNOW STATES THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS YET ; THEY WILL CONTACT ME WHEN THERE IS A FIX. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM DRIVING A CAR THAT DISTRACTS EVERY DAY WITH THIS SENSOR LIGHT AND CHIMING. THE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LEAVE MY CAR A FOURTH TIME FOR REPAIR. I THINK THIS IS DUE TO THE CA LEMON LAW. HELP!!!!! WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS-WHAT CAN I DO?
WHILE DRIVING THE AIR BAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON. DEALER HAS TREID TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. *AK
I JUST PURCHASED THE 1999 EXPEDITION 4.6L XLT ON MARCH 4, 2003. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000 MILES ON IT, AND I HAVE ONLY PUT ABOUT 500 ON IT SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN VIRGINIA AND NEEDED A MARYLAND INSPECTION. UPON THE INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC NOTICED A LEAK AROUND THE ENGINE. HE DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE, SINCE IT IS NOT AN INSPECTION ITEM. I AM AFRAID THAT WITH ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE RIGHT SIDE HEAD GASKET, THAT THIS IS IN FACT THE PROBLEM. WILL MY LIMITED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY THAT THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME COVER THIS COST. I THINK IT IS A COMPLETE SHAME THAT FORD HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THIS RECURRING PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT OFFER A SOLUTION. IF THERE ARE ANY PROGRAMS THAT FORD IS OFFERING, I WOULD LIKE TO HERE ABOUT THEM. *JB
WHILE PULLING A TRAILOR THE TRUCK GOT OUT OF CONTROL BECOMING UNCONTROLLABLE AS A 18- WHEELER PASSED BY, CAUSING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO CRASH, DUE TO SUSPENSION FAILURE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON MY 99 EXPEDITION COME ON AT WILL. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PIN POINT EXACTLY WHEN IT HAPPENS, BECAUSE IT JUST HAPPENS OUT OF THE BLUE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED AND TAKEN TO THE DEALER FROM WHICH I PURCHASED THE CAR. I WAS TOLD A PART WAS ORDERED ON 9/7/99 BUT TO DATE I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THE PART HAS BEEN DELIVERED. I SAW A NEWS REPORT ON ABC AND AM REPORTING THE PROBLEM AS INSTRUCTED.
THREE ENGINE REPLACEMENTS WITHIN 35,000 MILES. *MJS
I AM SUBMITTING THIS BECAUSE OF THE RECENT CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING THE 15 INCH VERSION OF THIS TIRE. MY 17 TIRE EXPERIENCED AN ENXPLAINED COMPLETE SEPARATION OF THE EXTERIOR SIDEWALL FROM THE TREAD PORTION OF THE TIRE AT 2000 MILES, BUT THE VEHICLE ( A FORD EXPEDITION) HANDLED IT SMOOTHLY. I NEVER THOUGHT TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE THERE WAS NO DAMAGE OTHER THAN THE TIRE, AND WHEN THE LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER SAW IT, HE REPLACED IT FOR FREE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE REASON THAT THERE IS SO MUCH FOCUS ON THE 15 INCH VERSION OF THIS TIRE IS THAT THE VEHICLES ON WHICH IT IS INSTALLED (THE FORD EXPLORER) ARE LESS STABLE AND MORE LIKELY TO RESULT IN A CRASH IN THIS TYPE OF FAILURE.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 17 INCH )
TIRE SHREDDED SO BAD IN A SPLIT SECOND WITH NO WARNING AND NO PUNCTURE WAS APPARENT. FIRESTONE DEALER REPLACED AT NO CHARGE..( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 25570R16 )
ENGINE ROUGH IDLE. VEHICLE "RUMBLES" AT IDLE. DEALERSHIP CONTACTED; NO SATISFACTION. *AK
CONSUMER DRIVING ON WET ROADS 26 MILES AT 35MPH AND VEHICLE HYDROPLANED. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DIFFERENT TIMES OF HYDROPLANING, IT WOULD HAPPEN ANYTIME. DEALER SAYS THEY WOULD WAIT FOR A RAINY DAY TO TRY DUPLICATING THE PROBLEM. *AK
EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS GOING OUT ON TWO OCCASIONS. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE ACCELERATING AT HIGH SPEED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER, AND CONSUMER WAS INFORMED OF A PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT BROKE OFF, WHICH CAUSED THROTTLE TO REMAIN WIDE OPEN. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE BEGAN TO MOVE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. WHEN STOPPING ONE CAN FEEL THE TRANSMISSION JERKING. DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE SPARK PLUG AND THE HOSE CLAMP, (2) TEST DROVE VEHICLE, AND RECOGNIZED THE SLIPPING, BUT COULD NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. (3) ENGINEER CHECKED TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS OKAY. SECOND ENGINEER TESTED AND SAID IT WAS NORMAL. MANUFACTURER SAID IF BRAKES FAIL THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO FIX THEM. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS / REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL COME ON. CONSUMER CANNOT TURN OFF THE WIPERS IF THE WIPERS COME ON UNEXPECEDTLY, NEED TO WAIT UNTIL THEY TURN OFF BY THEMSELVES. FORD SAYS THEY ARE WORKING ON THE PROBLEM. *ML
INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNING ON WHILE SWITCH IS IN OFF MODE. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND AT THIS TIME. *AK
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAIL TO WORK WHEN NEEDED. ON DRY DAYS WOULD COME ON, ON WET DAYS DO NOT COME ON. REAR WIPER WAS REPAIRED. NOW NEITHER WORKS, FRONT OR REAR. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. HAD IT CHECKED & METAL PIECES HAD BROKEN OFF. TRANSMISSION BURNT OUT. HAD THE PISTON REPLACED. THE POWER WINDDOWS WOULD GO UP & DOWN WITHOUT KEY INSERTION.
HAD A FRONT END COLLISION AND NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER SUSTAINED SOME INJURIES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IS PULLING TO THE RIGHT. ALSO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE COMING ON WHILE THE SWITCH IS IN OFF POSITION. *AK
1999 FORD EXPEDITION GEM MODULE PROBLEM. ***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE GEM MODULE HAS BEEN REPLACED. *NM
1999 FORD EXPEDITION STABILIZER BAR WAS SHEERED OFF AT THE TOP.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR CONSUMER ALSO NOTICED A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF RUBBING AND GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. *TT *NM
I TOOK MY EXPEDITION TO THE POLICE DEPT. TO HAVE MY CHILDS CAR SEAT CHECKED FOR PROPER INSTALLATION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CARSEAT COULD COULD NOT BE USED SAFELY. IT WAS THEIR OPINION THAT THE PLACE WHERE THE SEATBELT PULLS FROM AND WHERE THE SEATBELT FASTENS TO ARE ON DIFFERENT PLANES. WE WENT TO BABIES R US AND TRIED SEVERAL DIFFERENT CARSEATS AND NONE WOULD WORK. ADDITIONALLY, THE SEATBELTS TO NOT LOCK IMEDIATELY, THEREFORE, ADDING ADDITIONAL MOVEMENT OF THE CARSEAT. PLEASE EXCUSE ANY ERRORS IN THIS MESSAGE. IT IS DIFFICULT TYPE IN THIS SPACE AND CHECK FOR ERRORS.
I HADCAR SEAT PROBLEM WITH THE ON MY WAY CAR SEAT BY EVENFLO. I REPORTED IT BY PHONE AND ALSO WROTE A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF EVENFLO. MY CAR SEAT IS 3 1/2 YEARS OLD. MY 7 MONTH OLD SON GRABBED THE FIBERFILL FROM THE UNDER PART OF THE PADDING. WE WERE ON OUR WAY HOME FROM A LONG TRIP AND THANKFULLY REALIZED HE WAS PUDDLED IN VOMIT AND CHOKING SILENTLY. I LOOKED BACK TO SEE WHAT IT WAS THAT I WAS HEARING AND REALIZED HE WAS CHOKING. EVENFLO APOLOGIZED AND MENTIONED THAT THE NEW CAR SEAT COVER HAD A SPECIAL DESIGN SO THAT IT COULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I MENTIONED THAT THEY SHOULD PUT OUT A WARNING OR RECALL BECAUSE IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANOTHER PARENT AND THEY MIGHT NOT BE SO FORTUNATE. CHILDREN OF THIS YOUNG AGE ARE VERY ORAL. IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN. IN FACT I HAD WARNED ONE OF MY FRIENDS OF THE PROBLEM BECAUSE SHE HAD THE SAME COVER AND IT WAS NOT ON SECURELY(LIKE MINE) ANYMORE. TWO DAYS LATER SHE FOUND A WAD OF THE FIBERFILL IN HER YOUNG DAUGHTERS MOUTH. SHE IMMEDIATELY PULLED IT OUT AND I MIGHT ADD, WAS AS SHOCKED AS I WAS. EVENFLO'S RESPONSE WAS TO SAY THANK YOU FOR LETTING US KNOW, WE'LL BRING IT UP AT THE NEXT MEETING. THEY ALSO SAID THEY TAKE THEIR JOB SERIOUSLY BUT COULDN'T LET ME KNOW IF A RECALL WOULD HAPPEN. THEY SAID THERE ARE SO MANY OF THE OLD CAR SEATS OUT THERE AND THAT THEY WOULD SEE IF ANYONE ELSE COMPLAINED AS I DID. I COMMENTED THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS CRAZY TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER INCIDENT TO HAPPEN. A CHILD COULD DIE. THEY SAID THEY'D DO WHAT THEY COULD. SOUNDS LIKE A POOR EXCUSE TO ME. THEY NEED TO MAKE SURE ALL THE CHILDREN BEING PUT IN THIS CAR SEAT ARE SAFE FROM CHOKING TO DEATH ON THE BACKING OF THE OLD COVER. THANK YOU

BRACKET BENT CAUSING AIR SUSPENSION TO MALFUNCTION WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL. *YC
ALL THE POWER WINDOWS INTERMITTENTLY FUNCTION, CAUSING THE WINDOWS TO GET STUCK IN THE UP OR DOWN POSITIONS. DEALER CAN'T FIND CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES BAD VIBRATIONS WHEN EITHER REAR WINDOW ROLLED DOWN WHILE DRIVING DUE TO DESIGN. NLM
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FULLY LOADED(MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PASSENGERS), THE BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO PASS THE STOPPING POINT. DEALER CAN'T FIND THE CAUSE. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS CONTINUALLY SELF ACTIVATE, MODULE REPLACEMENT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO FORD AT TIME OF FAILURE. CONSTANT DRY WIPING HAS SCRATCHED WINDSHIELD. MJS
I AM EXPERIENCING THESE SO CALLED "PHANTOM WIPERS"
WHILE TRAVELING AT 25MPH LUGS: NUTS AND BOLTS BEGAN LOOSENING. THIS WAS NOTICED AS THE WHEEL BEGAN TO WOBBLE AND SHAKE VERY HARD. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER ONLY TO NOTICE THAT THE LUGS WERE COMING OFF. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING FRONT AND REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL ACTIVATE WITHOUT CONSUMER TOUCHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH. THIS OBSTRUCTS CONSUMER'S VISIBILITY. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON AND OFF AT WILL WITHOUT APPLICATION. DEALER CAN'T FIND THE CAUSE AFTER SEVERAL VISITS. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY IT CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

THE DESIGN FLAW OF THE HORN IS DIFFICULT TO FIND IN AN EMERCENCY WHICH POSSIBLY COULD PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. *YC

ONLY A VERY SMALL AREA ON STEERING WHEEL IS DESIGNATED FOR HORN. HAVE BEEN IN SEVERAL SITUATOINS WHERE I NEEDED TO HONK THE HORN QUICKLY AND HIT THE STEERING WHEEL HARD WITH PALM OF HAND AND THE HORN DID NOT SOUND. YOU MUST LOOK DOWN AND FIND THE TINY HORN SYMBOLS THAT ARE THE SAME COLOR AS THE STEERING WHEEL AND PRESS HARD WITH ONE OR TWO FINGERS. NOT A VERY USER-FRIENDLY DESIGN TO SAY THE LEAST. THE FORD DEALER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY ISSUE WITH THE HORN DESIGN. *AK
VEHICLE SMELLS OF OIL BUT NONE VISUALIZED ON INSPECTION OF ENGINE. SEEMS TO BE WORSE WITH COLDER TEMPERATURES. OIL GAUGE IN VEHICLE RUNS HIGHER END OF NORMAL ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS NORMAL. *AK
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE DUE TO CHILD SAFETY ACTIVATION. YH
4.6 LITER,V8 ENGINE. ENGINE CAME WITH DEFECTIVE DESIGN WHICH HAS A PISTON SLAP, CAUSING VEHICLE TO RUN AND IDLE ROUGH.TSB HAS BEEN ISSUED. *AK
THE PAINT ON MY 1999 WHITE FORD EXPEDITION HAS ORANGE, BROWN DOTS THAT BECOME BUMPY. I CANNOT REMOVE THEM WITH COMPOUND POLISH. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED WITHIN SUMMARY. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 10-20 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES VEHICLE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL. THEN THE ABS KICKED IN AND VEHICLE STOPPED. DEALER HAS REPAIRED PROBLEM, BUT IT HAS RETURNED. . PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE VEHICLE OIL CONSUMPTION IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, AT FIRST A QUART IN 6,000, THEN 3,000 MILES AND NOW 1,800 MILES. NLM

STOPPED TO 30 MPH NOISE THAT IS SAID TO BE NORMAL. SOUNDS AS IF SOMETHING IS SLIPPING IN TRASMISSION OR IN THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM
VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL BECAUSE STEERING IS SOFT AND MUSHY. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRUCK IS BEING DRIVEN OVER EGGS/ICE. THIS IS MORE OF A PROBLEM WHEN TOWING. A NEW GEAR WAS PUT IN THE POWER STEERING, WHICH DID NOT STOP THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY. *AK *ML
