TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAPS WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 214,000.
I HAVE A 1999 FORD EXPEDITION XLT WITH A 5.4 L V8 WITH 130K MILES ON IT. I STARTED MY VEHICLE THIS MORNING AND IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE HAD EXPLODED FOLLOWED BY GREY SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE I DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE , SECOND FROM THE REAR SPARK PLUG WAS BLOWN OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD.AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ALL TO COMMON PROBLEM FOR CERTAIN YEAR MODEL FORDS. THIS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT AND NOT ONLY COULD SOMEONE GET INJURED OR STRANDED BUT COULD ALSO BE LETHAL IF THE GAS FROM THE CYLINDER WERE TO IGNITE UNDER THE HOOD CAUSING AN EXPLOSION OR ENGINE FIRE. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO PREVENT THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THE STRAPS THAT SUPPORTED THE FUEL TANK WERE CORRODED AND FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED BOTH FUEL TANK STRAPS AT A COST OF $278 TO THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL COVER WAS LEAKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 06/27/11

WHILE DRIVING COULD SMELL ENGINE BURNING OIL WHICH CAME THROUGH THE VENTS. THERE WAS NO OIL LEAKING. COIL BROKE IN THE ENGINE/ WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD COME ON BY THEMSELF, WHILE THE REAR WIPER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL/ PASSENGER DOOR PANEL WAS LOOSE & CAME OFF/ ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD CAUSE LIGHTS TO FLICKER ON & OFF, AND FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO REGISTER THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL WHEN FILLED.*AK
