FUSE RELAYS KEEP BURNING OUT! I HAVE BROUGHT OVER 10 RELAYS IN 2 WEEEKS. I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL 2003 FORDS AND IS VERY EXSPENSIVE TO FIX. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED! THERE ARE VIDEOS ON YOU TUBE TO PROVE THAT ALL OF THESE TRUCKS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX BUT EVENTUALLY I WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM OUT OF THAT FUSE BOX BECAUSE THUS IS A DEFECT IN ALL 2003 FORD EXPEDITIONS. THE CAR CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN 2 VERY DANGEROUS CAR ACCIDENTS! IT HAS STOPPED ON ME ON THE HIGHWAY AND STREET! WHEN I SAW THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL EMMISION RELAYS AND THE FUSE BOX I DECIDED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT IN ORDER TO GET THIS RECALLED!
SIDE AIRBAGS SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE SAFELY AND NO APPARENT INJURY TO MYSELF OR PASSENGER EXCEPT FOR POSSIBLE HEARING LOSS DUE TO THE LOUD BANG ON DEPLOYMENT. I USED A KNIFE TO CUT THE BAGS AWAY FROM THE FRONT SIDE WINDOWS THEN CONTINUED DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING 56 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
MY FORD EXPEDITION IS EQUIPPED WITH A 5.4L TRITON ENGINE AND LIKE MANY OTHER ENGINES OF THE SAME FAMILY, IT BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE HEAD WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THIS ALLOWED FUEL TO ESCAPE AND ALMOST CREATED A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO CONTAIN IT WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE. HOWEVER, I AM MECHANICALLY SAVVY, SO OTHERS MAY NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO IN SUCH AN EVENT. HOWEVER, THE REASON IS BECAUSE THE SPARK PLUG CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE WITHOUT ASSISTANCE AND BEING THAT I HAVE NEVER INSTALLED SPARK PLUGS IN IT, THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO MY NEGLIGENCE. BEING THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE AND THE NATURE OF IT BEING POTENTIALLY FATAL, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AND CONSIDERED FOR A RECALL TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE.
2003 FORD EXPEDITION, WITH FACTORY ORIGINAL TIRES BY CONTINENTAL, HAD A TIRE TREAD SEPARATION ON JUNE 11 WHICH RESULTED IN ONE DEATH AND FOUR SERIOUS INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, DRIVER LOST CONTROL AND HIT A TREE...UPDATED 02/02/17 *BF *TR
OWNER HAS REPLACED BRAKES AND ROTORS SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN DRIVING, THE DRIVER FEELS AS IF THEY ARE PUSHING AGAINST RESISTANCE, LIKE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ENGAGED. VEHICLE IS ABLE TO MOVE WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE FULLY ENGAGED. WHEN BRAKING, A PULSE IS FELT, BUT ROTORS ARE NEW.
CREDIT ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION 25505 W TWELVE MILE ROAD P.O. BOX 513 SOUTHFIELD,MI 48037 1-800-634-1506 INSTALLED A GPS DEVICE WHEN I PURCHSED THIS VEHICLE USED. I HAD IT REPLACED ONCE BY THE DEALER BECAUSE IT NOT ONLY DISABLED THE VEHICLE WHEN NOT MOVING,BUT IT CREATED A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHEN I WAS DRIVING CUTTING THE VEHICLES POWER OFF. CREDIT ACCEPTANCE DENIES THEY HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT . THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN WHEN I FELL BEHIND ON PAYMENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 186,000.
THE BRAKE LINE THAT IS ROUTED TO THE REAR BRAKES RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH, CAUSING ME TO LOSE ALL BRAKING FUNCTION HENCE, CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I HAD TO RUN OFF INTO A DITCH TO MISS A SLOWING VEHICLE. AFTER I HAD COME TO REST IN THE DITCH THERE WAS AN ENGINE FIRE CAUSED BY BRAKE FLUID SPRAYING ONTO THE HOT ENGINE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. FORTUNATELY, I HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON BOARD, SO I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BEFORE THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE. THE INTERESTING THING ABOUT THIS INCIDENT IS THAT THERE IS ANOTHER LINE THAT RUNS PARALLEL WITH THE DEFECTIVE LINE THAT SHOWS ZERO EVIDENCE OF CORROSION.
SPARK PLUGS BLOW OUT OF CYLINDER HEAD AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
I WAS HAVING PROBLEM MY CAR OF IT LOSING POWER UNTIL ONE DAY IT JUST LOST POWER COMPLETELY AT A STOP LIGHT I WAS LUCKY I WAS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN SO I QUICKLY PUT ON MY EMERGENCY BLINKERS AND I WAS LUCKILY NO ONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND THIS WAS AROUND 8:30 P.M. MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WELL IT WAS AT THE MECHANIC I WENT AHEAD AND GOOGLE WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY CAR AND I CAME ACROSS A WHOLE BUNCH OF COMPLAINTS FROM THE CARS DOING THE SAME THING MY CAR WAS DOING BUT I FOUND OUT A LOT OF PEOPLE ENDED UP WASTING A LOT OF MONEY TO FIGURE OUT AT THE END WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS IF YOU'RE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AND THIS HAPPENS YOU CAN BE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND INVESTIGATE ON THIS PART
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BLAST FOLLOWED BY SMOKE FROM THE HOOD. THE CONTACT ALSO PERCEIVED A FUEL ODOR AND THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED A WIRE HANGING AT THE BACK OF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL ON THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS POPPED OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE TECHNICIAN REMEDIED THE ENGINE HEAD AND REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FULLY REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE AS I APPROACHED A FOUR-WAY STOP INTERSECTION ON A RURAL COUNTY HIGHWAY. INSPECTION BY AUTO REPAIR TECHNICIANS REVEALED MY BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND HAD EXPERIENCED SEVERAL RUPTURES. THE TECHNICIANS SAID THE RUST WAS THE RESULT OF FORD'S DECISION TO INSTALL STEEL BRAKE LINES IN THE VEHICLE, RATHER THAN ALUMINUM. WHEN EXPOSED TO THE SALT PREVALENT ON LOCAL ROADWAYS IN THE WINTER, THEY EASILY RUST OUT LONG BEFORE THE VEHICLE EVEN APPROACHES THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF ITS LIFE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE JUST SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND SHUT DOWN. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT STARTED AND I CONTINUED ON, AFTER A FEW MILES THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I GOT IT STARTED AGAIN AND WAS TRYING TO MAKE A REST STOP A FEW MILES AWAY. WHILE PULLING INTO THE REST STOP THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN AND RESULTED IN A COLLISION BECAUSE OF NO STEERING OR BRAKES. THE LOSS OF POWER HAPPENED 8 TIMES THAT DAY. WHILE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, I FOUND ON THE NHTSB WEBSITE THAT OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM THAT TURNED OUT TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUSE BLOCK. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEY SAID IT WAS A FUEL PUMP ISSUE. THAT WOULD NOT CAUSE A LOSS OF POWER. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO DID FIND THAT IT WAS INDEED A FAULTY FUSE BLOCK. THE SAME MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD COME ACROSS THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. THE LOSS OF POWER OCCURS WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR CODES.
SPARK PLUG EJECTION! I JUST EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH MY FORD TRITON MOTOR WHERE THE SPARK PLUG WILL EJECT FROM THE ALUMINUM CYLINDER HEAD. I HAVE A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION THAT EXPERIENCED THIS ON SATURDAY. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WAL-MART WITH MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK, WE TURNED A CORNER AND MY HEART STOPPED! IT SOUNDED LIKE I WAS INVOLVED IN MACHINE GUN FIRE. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND MY LOOKED. COULDN'T INITIALLY SEE ANYTHING. MY HUSBAND CHECKED UNDER THE TRUCK THINKING IT WAS EXHAUST RELATED. WE WERE LUCKILY 2 BLOCKS FROM HOME, SO WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT HOME AND INTO THE DRIVEWAY. MY HUSBAND BEGAN TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND I TOOK TO THE INTERNET. HE TOOK THE ENGINE COVER OFF AND DISCOVERED THE SPARK PLUG MISSING AND THE COIL WIRE BROKEN OFF AND SPARKING. LONG STORY SHORT IT SEEMS THAT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SITUATION WHERE THE CYLINDER HEAD HAS STRIPPED ON THE ONE SPARK PLUG. WE HAVE BEGUN LOOKING INTO WAYS TO FIX THE SITUATION, BUT IT SEEMS FORD HAS NOT DEEMED THIS TO BE AN ISSUE. TRULY DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SO MANY PEOPLE CAN REPORT THE EXACT SAME HAPPENINGS AND NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT..... MERRY STINKIN CHRISTMAS!!! WE ARE REACHING OUT TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER BUT AM PRETTY SURE THEY ARE GOING TO TELL US WE ARE CRAP OUT OF LUCK AND WILL FALL ON US TO REPAIR IF WE CHOOSE.
ABRUPT, NO WARNING(ON DIGITAL DASH) LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY. ON STOPPING WHILE PULLING IN A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING GARAGE, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. VEHICLE DID STOP WITHOUT HITTING CONCRETE WALL. VERY SCARY GETTING THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE FROM THE 5TH FLOOR TO BE PLACED ON A ROLL BACK. DEALER STATES BRAKE LINES HAVE RUSTED AND DRAINED BRAKE FLUID CAUSING CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE. STATED THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE
ALL 3 HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS AND IN COLD WEATHER PUTTING OCCUPANTS AT RISK. #1, #3 AND #7 SPARK PLUGS HAVE BLOWN OUT OVER A PERIOD OF 15 MONTHS, DESTROYING THE COIL IN THE PROCESS. ALL WERE THE ORIGINALLY INSTALLED SPARK PLUGS FROM THE FORD ASSEMBLY PLANT. READING AND TALKING WITH OTHER FORMER AND CURRENT MECHANICS, IT IS DEFINITELY A FORD DESIGN FLAW AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT, REIMBURSEMENT AND LIFETIME WARRANTY OR UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS JUNKED. *TR
MY PASSENGER WINDOW AND BOTH BACK WINDOWS HAVE DROPPED SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THIS FIXED MORE THAN ONCE ON THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW, WHAT HAPPENS IS ILL TRY TO PUT THE WINDOW UP AND THE WINDOW MOTOR MAKES A STRUGGLING NOISE AND I AM UNABLE TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW. AT THIS POINT I'M SURE IT MUST BE A DEFECT BECAUSE OF HOW IT HAS HAPPENED TO EACH WINDOW MORE THAN ONCE. ALSO THE BUMPER THAT GOES AROUND THE ENTIRE CAR IS EXTREMELY FADED AND I AM UNABLE TO GET FIXED I HAVE GONE TO GET ESTIMATES FOR A PAIN JOB BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD DUE TO THE MATERIAL IT IS JUST GOING TO FADE I WOULD NEED TO GET IT SANDED AND HAVE THEM DO SOME SPECIAL TREATMENT I CANT AFFORD AND THEY WILL NOT JUST PAINT OVER IT FOR ME BECAUSE THEY GUARANTEE THERE WORK AND WOULD HAVE TO REDO IT TOO OFTEN. ALL THE EXPEDITIONS I SEE HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
CARS STALLED WHILE TURNING LEFT AGAINST TRAFFIC. WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY. HAD TO WAIT A FEW MINUTES TRYING TO START IT AND FINALLY IT STARTED AND I COULD CLEAR THE INTERSECTION. VERY DANGEROUS AND FORTUNATE THAT ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS ABLE TO STOP. HAVE CLEANED THROTTLE BODY, AIC BUT FUSE ON FUSE BOX IS MELTED CAUSING INTERMITTENT OPERATION. STARTED OUT ONCE A MONTH AND NOW FREQUENTLY TO INCLUDE THIS LAST ONE IN TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND SMOKE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE WERE FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD IN A SCHOOL ZONE WHEN AT APPROXIMATELY 5 PM, WHEN SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE BAGS DEPLOYED DEFLATED. I WAS NEAR A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. I WAS NOT HIT NOR DID I HIT ANYONE TO CAUSE THE BAGS TO DEPLOY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE FUSE RELAYS WAS MELTING INTO THE FUSE BOX. AS A RESULT, THE FUSE BOX AND THE POWER CONTROL MODULE RELAY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
TRUCK SHUT OFF AT 60MPH TOWING A CAMPER BECAUSE MY FUEL PUMP RELAY BLEW BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE FUSE BOX!! ALMOST KILLED US........ NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I'VE SPOKEN TO MANY MECHANICS AND BEEN ON MANY FORUMS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD AND DANGEROUS ISSUE FORD SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. SPOKE WITH THE LOCAL FORD PARTS DEPARTMENT AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP PART BY ANY MEANS, BUT ON TOP OF THAT IT ALMOST KILLED MY WIFE AND FAMILY! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DEFECT. I CAN SEND YOU PICTURES OF THE FUSE BOX BOARD SO YOU CAN SEE THE BURNS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RECEIVER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I WAS DRIVING AT 45MPH AND A SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT ON MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION XLT WITH THE 5.4L V8. *TR
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING @ 30-50 MPH. *TR
THIS SPECIFIC MAKE AND MODEL YEAR HAS A DEFECTIVE FUSE BOX WHICH CASE A FUSE CALLED A PCM RELAY TO MELT AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND NOT START. THE FUSE BOX WILL BUZZ CONTINUOUSLY BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT START. YOU CAN REPLACE THE RELAY WHICH IS ABOUT $15 BUT THIS IS MORE THAN LIKELY TEMPORARY AND IT WILL MELT AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE FUSE PANEL ENTIRELY WHICH BRINGS ME HERE, THE PANEL ALONE IS $500 AND THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE LABOR AND TAXES. FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF FORUMS ONLINE THAT REFER TO THIS SPECIFIC MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I'VE SPENT THOUSANDS REPLACING PARTS THAT DID NOT NEED REPAIR. FORD NEEDS TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THIS DEFECT BECAUSE IT'S A MANUFACTURE'S DEFECT NOT A CONSUMER (WEAR AND TEAR) ISSUE.
THE TRUCK JUST QUITS LIKE RUNNING OUT OF GAS STALL NO STEERING NOW BRAKING VERY UNSAFE IT IS BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS BUILT INTO THE FUSE JUNCTION BOX NOT SERVICEABLE AND IF YOU HAVE A MOON ROOF THE DRAIN RUNS DOWN THAT SIDE THE WATER DRIPS ON FUSE BOX SHORTS OUT THE RELAY AND OFF YOUR TRUCK GOES THEY ONLY DID IT 2 YEARS AND THEY OBVIOUSLY NOW ABOUT IT AND CHANGED IT AND THE NEW PART DIFFERENT NUMBER
2003 FORD EXPEDITION XLT 4.6 FUSE BOX FAIL FUSE PUMP RELAY BURN, ON 01/14/2015 WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION ON THE 5FWY GOING 70 MILES THE TRUCK SHOT OFF LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE EMERGENCY LANE WITH OUT HITTING ANY OTHER CAR ON THE FWY. THE FRAME OF MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRAME IS ABOUT TO SELF DESTRUCT. ONE OF THE STRAPS THAT HOLDS THE GAS TANK TO THE FRAME HAS RUSTED. REPLACEMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THE STEEL BRAKE LINES ALONG THE FRAME ARE ALSO RUSTED. I HAVE HAD ONE REPLACED ALREADY. THE AREA BELOW ALL 4 DOORS IS MISSING DUE TO RUST. YOU CAN SEE THE FRAME THROUGH THE MISSING STEEL. IT APPEARS THAT FORD USES NOTHING TO KEEP THEIR VEHICLES FROM RUSTING! THIS IS A DISGRACE. FORD HAS BEEN MANUFACTURING VEHICLES FOR MORE THAN 100 YEARS AND STILL CANT MAKE ONE THAT DOES NOT RUST. THEIR PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE PROGRAM IS COSTING ITS CUSTOMERS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN REPLACEMENT COSTS. I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE CONSIDERING THE COST TO REPLACE THESE VEHICLES. THERE SHOULD BE NO TIME LIMIT ON RUST. IN THIS DAY AND AGE, THEY SHOULD HAVE FIGURED OUT HOW TO RUST PROOF A VEHICLE PROPERLY. I WANT A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE FROM THEM AT THEIR COST!

WHEN DRIVING ON I-10 WEST AT 65 MPH MY FORD EXPEDITION SHUT DOWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AND DON'T LIKE TO PARK IN THE INTERIOR LANES SO I PLACED MY HAZARDS ON AND DRIFTED TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE. IT WAS HARD TO DO BECAUSE WHEN MY VEHICLE WENT DEAD THE PWR STEERING AND BRAKES BECAME HARD TO USE. ONCE I GOT TO A SAFE AREA, I TRIED TO START MY VEHICLE AGAIN.....WITHOUT SUCCESS. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY PICKED MY VEHICLE UP AND TOWED IT TO MY RESIDENCE. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND WENT TO A DOCTORS APPT. ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE APPOINTMENT I WAS IN THE LEFT TURNING LANE AND THE VEHICLE DIED AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD SOMEONE BEHIND ME THAT ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. AT THIS TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP (SHAMALEY FORD). THEY INDICATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE. I RETRIEVED MY VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. WHEN DRIVING TO ENSURE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OPERATIONAL IT DIED AGAIN ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A ONE LANE STREET WHICH NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. SOMEONE HELPED ME PUSH MY VEHICLE AROUND THE CORNER SO THAT TRAFFIC COULD PROCEED. I WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND TRIED TO START ME VEHICLE AND IT STARTED. I HURRIED AND PLACED IT IN MY PARKING SPACE. AS I HAVE READ, THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH FORD EXPEDITIONS AND LUCKILY THIS HASN'T CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR RESULTED IN DEATH. I DID NOT STATE THIS BUT I CONNECTED MY CODE READER AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING WRONG. AS STATED PREVIOUSLY, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY MISDIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD. WHAT HAD HAPPENED? A SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE ALUMINUM HEAD, TAKING THE THREADS WITH IT. I WAS NOT AWARE THAT FUEL WOULD CONTINUE TO BLOW OUT OF THE SPARK PLUG HOLE WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN IGNITED BY THE IGNITION COIL OR EXHAUST MANIFOLD. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT HAS NOT RECALLED THE DEFECTIVE ALUMINUM HEADS, BUT RATHER OFFERED A REPAIR KIT TO FIX THE STRIPPED THREADS WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DIFFERENT ENDING IF THE FUEL WOULD HAVE IGNITED. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING WITH THE KIDS HEADED HOME, GOING ABOUT 45MPH AND LOUD NOISE AND SMELL OF FUEL, WE PULL OVER LIFTED THE HOOD AND SAW MY COIL PACK BUSTED OFF, WE DROVE THE REST WAY HOME TO ARK IT, AND LOOKED AGAIN. ENGINE WONT TURN OFF WITH KEYS TAKEN OUT, DASHLIGHTS ON AND OFF, AIR CONDITIONER CAME ON WHEN DOOR WAS OPENED, WARNING BELL AND NO KEYS IN IGNITION, HEAD AND TAIL LIGHTS REMAIN ON, SIDE MIRRORS MOVE AND WILL NOT GO BACK, WHEN KEY POD USED ALL THESE PROBLEMS GO OFF AT THE SAME TIME. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR POPPED, SPUTTERED AND DIED. HAS STEADILY GOTTEN MORE AND MORE FREQUENT. ENGINE DIES AT IDLE, DIES AT SLOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS FASTER SPEEDS. VERY DANGEROUS! HAVE REPLACED THE PCM, WIRING HARNESS, AND FUEL PUMP. IS NOT REPAIRED. POWER MIRRORS READJUST THEMSELVES WHEN THE KEYLESS ENTRY IS USED. SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS STAY ON, DOOR AJAR, CHECK FUEL CAP, ADVATRAC WILL NOT TURN ON. REAR WINDOW WILL NOT WORK. BACK UP SENSOR WILL NOT WORK. INTERIOR LIGHTS AS WELL AS EXTERIOR LIGHTING WILL NOT POWER OFF WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF. YOU MUST MANUALLY TURN THEM OFF OR THE BATTERY DRAINS.CD PLAYER WILL NOT EJECT CD'S LOUD POPPING SOUND IN THE FRONT END AND GRINDING SOUND WHEN STOPPING. I HAVE HAD THIS IN THE SHOP SINCE JUNE OF 2014 AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. HAVE ALREADY SPENT $1000 TRYING TO REPAIR. THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND CAN VERY LIKELY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. FORD AUTO SHOP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $100 AN HOUR TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM THEN THEY ARE NOT SURE IF THEY CAN FIND THE PROBLEM, THEY ARE TELLING ME IT COULD COST BETWEEN $500-$1000 JUST TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CHECKED SEVERAL WEB SITES AND SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY, MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE MEDAL STRAP WAS MISSING THAT SECURES THE FUEL TANK. THE ENGINE WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, OTHER TIMES WOULD SHUT OFF AT A STOP LIGHT. THE ISSUE HAPPENED 10 TIMES OVER A 3 DAY PERIOD. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT CRASH AS THE ENGINE DIED ONCE WHILE MAKING A TURN ON A BUSY ROAD. ONCE IT DIED, SO DID THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES - VERY SCARY. THERE WERE NO ENGINE CODES THAT CAME UP AND NO INDICATION ANYTHING WAS WRONG, THE ENGINE WOULD SIMPLY SHUT OFF. WHILE DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE I DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH THAT INDICATED IT COULD BE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY ISSUE. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS A NON-SERVICEABLE RELAY THAT IS SOLDERED TO THE MAIN FUSE BOX CIRCUIT BOARD. I REMOVED THE FUSE BOX AND DISASSEMBLED IT REVEALING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS GETTING HOT AND HAD MELTED THE SOLDER ON THE BOARD. WHEN THE RELAY COOLED, THE SOLDER MADE CONTACT AND THE ENGINE WOULD START RIGHT UP. WHEN DRIVING THE SOLDER WOULD WARM UP AND BREAK CONTACT. THIS WOULD SHUT THE FUEL PUMP OFF AND THE ENGINE WOULD DIE. THERE ARE REPORTS OF THIS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THE ONLY REPAIR FOR THIS ITEM WAS TO REPLACE THE MAIN CIRCUIT BOARD AS THE RELAY CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT SOLDERING TO THE CIRCUIT BOARD. ONCE THE FUSE BOX WAS REPLACED, THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. I BELIEVE THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BE A HUGE PROBLEM AND COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. I HAVE READ THIS PROBLEM AFFECTS NUMEROUS YEARS OF THE FORD EXPEDITION. *TR
Faulty fuse panel. This is a known issue. It is ALL over the internet. There has never been a recall. The vehicle will stall while driving. On attempting restart or crank, there is a buzzing noise from the fuse panel. The pcm #203 I believe, corrodes or melts through the board on the panel causing the fault. Replacing the fuse/relay will correct, but for a time. Panel replacement is required. First incident at 165k. Second incident at about 205k. After the last panel replacement, the vehicle continued to stall. Another faulty fuse, for the day running lamps, caused a fault, which melted the housing between the panel and the wiring harness. The screw attachment is "crunchy" because of the melted elements. The smell is noticeable, and the panel requires replacement again. Third incident about 246k. This is a fire hazard. The wiring harness is hot to the touch. Being a KNOWN issue, having discussed on various socials and with ford dealer techs, this should have been recalled ages ago.
ON SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:00 PM, I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE NORTHBOUND ON CA-57 THROUGH BREA WHEN THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. I DID NOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE OR OBJECT NOR WAS THERE AN EMINENT ROLL OVER. THIS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST LOOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE, BUT I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL AND SAFELY MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE STOPPED, I OPENED ALL THE WINDOWS TO AIR OUT THE SMOKE FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH IN THE FAST LANE WESTBOUND ON HWY 4 IN MY 2003 FORD EXPEDITION A EXTREMELY LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AND SMOKE WAS SEEN FROM INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT SOMETHING HAD HIT THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE. THANKFULLY I KEPT CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO MERGE TO THE RIGHT TO PULL OVER IN THE EMERGENCY LANE. UPON STOPPING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED. KNOWING THAT I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING NOR DID ANYTHING HIT THE VEHICLE I STILL WALKED AROUND THE WHOLE VEHICLE TO INSPECT FOR ANY POSSIBLE CAUSES. AFTER CONTACTING MY INSURANCE COMPANY THEY STATED THAT THIS DAMAGE WOULD NOT BE COVER DUE TO FAULTY CAUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY STATED NO IMPACTED WAS SUSTAINED TO THE VEHICLE. CONCLUSION BEING THAT THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON THEIR OWN WITH NO IMPACT, POSSIBLY A SHORT OR JUST FAULTY EQUIPMENT. I'M GLAD MY FAMILY WASN'T HURT DURING THIS INCIDENT. *TR
