THE NOT IN OVERDRIVE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE I RESTARTED AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. SHORTLY THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING. AND NOW THE ENGINE RACES AND THE CAR WONT MOVE THERE IS ONLY 33000 MILES ON THE CAR I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I OWN A 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. FRIDAY, OCT. 24TH, 2008 WE HAD TRAVELED OUT OF TOWN ABOUT 2 HOURS AWAY FROM OUR HOME. WE WERE ON OUR WAY HOME AND WE WERE COMPLETELY STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HEARD A HUGE BOOM AND THE REAR LIFTGATE GLASS SHATTERED. WE DID HAVE THE POLICE COME OUT AND INSPECT THE VEHICLE FOR ANY INDICATIONS AS TO WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE GLASS TO SHATTER. THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I GOT HOME WE DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. WE DID FIND THAT IN 2001 FORD RECALLED THOUSANDS OF FORD EXPLORERS FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE. WE CONTACTED FORD AND WERE TOLD THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. THEY DIRECTED US TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT DUE TO OUR ISSUE BEING ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THIS RECALL. WE FEEL THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THAT OUR VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. WE HAVE THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP RIGHT NOW AND AT THIS TIME WE BELIEVE THAT THE GLASS, HINGES, REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER MECHANISM, STRUTS AND ANY OTHER PARTS AFFECTED ARE BEING REPLACED. WE HAVE A $500 DEDUCTIBLE AND OUR INSURANCE IS COVERING THE BALANCE OF THE COST AT THIS TIME, WHICH IS OVER $1000. WE WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AT THIS TIME BECAUSE WE DO FEEL THAT OUR VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME MALFUNCTIONS AS THE 2001 RECALL. *TR
I HAVE A FORD EXPLORER SPORT 2 DR. .. I HAVE NOTICED THAT IT LIKES TO SLIDE ALOT ESP. AROUND CORNERS. I ACTUALLY WENT AROUND A CORNER ABOUT NOT EVEN 10 MILES PER HOUR AND LOST CONTROL LUCKILY CARS ON OTHER SIDE STOPPED AHEAD WHEN THEY SAW THIS. MY 2002 FORD EXPLORERS TRANSMISSION JUST COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING AT 94,000 MILES. READING FORUMS ONLINE LED ME TO THIS SITE, AFTER READING MANY, MANY OTHERS' EXACT SAME EXPERIENCES WITH THIS CAR. FORD WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT AND MY FAMILY DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION! FORD NEEDS A RECALL ON TRANSMISSIONS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL! *TR
O/D OFF LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS AN INDICATION OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. CHECKED ON LINE FOR WARRANTY INFORMATION, AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD'S 2002 TRANSMISSIONS. FORD WILL NOT ASSIST IN THE COST OF REPAIRS BECAUSE THE PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER THE 36,000 MILES OR 3 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. EVERY THING POINTS TO A $ 2,000 / 3,000 REPAIR JOB. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK IN 10/08 AND NOW I HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO A MAJOR REPAIR BEFORE OWNING IT FOR A YEAR. I REALLY THINK THAT FORD SHOULD IN SOME WAY COMPENSATE ITS VEHICLE OWNERS FOR A DEFECT THAT THEY ARE APPARENTLY WELL AWARE OF. *TR
PART# 2L2Z-98420A68-AA HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS FOR LIFTGATE BROKE 08/04-2008. RECALL CAMPAIGN#PE04045-PURCHASED ANOTHER HINGE FROM FORD PARTS DEPT. INVOICE# 216039 ON 08/04/2008-THEY DID NOT TELL ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART ITEM- BOUGHT PART AND REPLACED IT MYSELF. 08/26-2012 THE OTHER HINGE BROKE AND CALLED 1-888-327-4226 AND WAS TOLD RECALL WAS OVER- THE FORD STORE NEVER TOLD ME THIS PART WAS RECALLED AND CHARGED ME $43.95. NOW THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HATCHBACK HINGE HAS BROKEN AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT REPAIRED MYSELF AGAIN. NEVER RECEIVED ANY POSTCARD FOR RECALL NOTICE. THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE-BOTH HINGES HAVE BROKEN- I HAVE PAID FOR ONE HINGE AND REPLACED IT MYSELF AND DO NOT THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE OTHER ONE ALSO AND SHOULD BE PAID THE $43.95 I PAID NOT EVEN COUNTING MY TIME AND LABOR AND FORD SHOULD PAY FOR THE OTHER SIDE SINCE THIS HINGE IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. THE CONTACT LIFTED THE REAR HATCH AND OPENED THE GLASS DOOR. THE HINGE ON THE GLASS DOOR LOOSENED AND CAUSED IT TO FALL AND INJURE THE CONTACT'S THUMB. THE HINGE SHOULD BE SECURED IN PLACE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AFTER HE WAS INJURED. THE RECALL APPLIED TO THE FORD EXPLORER AND FORD EXPLORER SPORTS. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 93,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DETACHED FROM THE BASE, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO FALL BACK AGAINST THE REAR SEATS. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, HE NOTICED THAT THE SEAT WOULD ONLY RECLINE IN ONE VERTICAL POSITION. THERE WAS NO CRASH INVOLVED AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 85,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HINGES IN THE LIFTGATE WERE UNSCREWING. HE LOCKED THE WINDOW TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE WINDOW FELL DOWN AND SHATTERED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V442000 (STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS). HE ALSO EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE ARMREST. IT WOULD NOT OPEN UNLESS HE FORCED IT, WHICH EVENTUALLY CAUSED IT TO FAIL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,015 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000. UPDATED 11/17/08 *BF UPDATED 11/18/08. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2002 EXPLORER SPORT 4X4, AND DROVE IT CONSERVATIVELY UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS; NO OFF-ROAD, NEVER TOWED, GARAGED, ETC. WITH THE ORIGINAL TIRES AND SUSPENSION SYSTEM, AT 27,000 MILES, THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING (REFERRED TO AS A JOINT IN THE FORD SHOP MANUAL) AND HUB ASSEMBLY (A SINGLE, SEALED UNIT) FAILED SO BADLY THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THIS WAS REPLACED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP, BUT AS I WAS OVER THREE YEARS SINCE PURCHASE, THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, AND COST $500.00. AFTER THE REPAIR, AT 65 MPH, A FAIRLY BAD VIBRATION WAS PRESENT IN THE FRONT-END. AT 36,000 MILES, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING AND HUB ASSEMBLY ALSO COMPLETELY FAILED, AND REQUIRED A TOW TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPLACEMENT. THE VIBRATION IS GONE, SO WAS CAUSED BY THE RIGHT BEARING, BUT NOT CAUGHT BY THE TECHNICIAN WHEN THE LEFT SIDE WAS REPLACED. AS FORD WILL ADMIT, THEIR PARTS ARE NOW MANUFACTURED IN CHINA AND MEXICO. PREMATURE PART FAILURE IS RAMPANT, SO OBVIOUSLY THERE IS LITTLE QUALITY CONTROL. ADDITIONALLY, CHINA HAS A HUGE COUNTERFEIT AUTO PARTS PROBLEM, AND IT SEEMS REASONABLE THESE PARTS ARE BEING USED IN NEW AMERICAN VEHICLES. I DO HAVE THE LEFT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY, WHICH FAILED AT 27,000 MILES. THIS PART FAILURE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 FORD EXPLORER IN WHICH IT ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT AN THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINS ON THIS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR

WAS USING THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED SMOKING AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE, THEN THE CAB STARTED BURNING AND THEN THE WHOLE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND EXPLODED.
AIR CONDITIONING/FAN CONTROLS KNOBS & FACE OF CD PLAYER ON DASH GETS INCREASINGLY HOTTER AS THE VEHICLE RUNS. THE PANEL WITH THE CONTROL KNOBS IS VERY, VERY HOT TO THE TOUCH AND BEGINS TO SMELL VERY HOT WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING. I AM CONCERNED OF A FIRE AS MY SON IS A PARAPLEGIC AND I HAVE READ THAT THE FORD EXPLORER HAS FIRES. I ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THEY DON'T SEEM CONCERNED. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD DISCONNECT THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL FEATURE BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS DISSATISFIED WITH THE REMEDY. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
FORD RECALL 05S28-SIRS, YOUR WEBSITE RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT THE AFFECTED VEHICLES SHOULD BE RETURNED IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER FOR DISCONNECTION OF THE PROBLEM SPEED CONTROL SWITCH WHILE AWAITING AVAILABILITY OF REPLACEMENT WIRING PARTS, HOWEVER, THE RECALL LETTER I RECEIVED THIS WEEK DOES NOT MENTION THIS, NOR DID THE DEALER WHEN I CALLED HIM. HE CALLED FORD SEVERAL TIMES SINCE RECEIVING THE NOTICE. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISCONNECTED IN OCTOBER OF 2007. AS OF APRIL 18, 2008, THE PART IS STILL UNAVAILABLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER AND PURCHASE DATE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000. UPDATED 05/07/08 *BF
2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT HAS A DEFECT. THE BELT ITSELF BECOMES LOCKED AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED AND EVEN BECOMES TIGHTER ON THE PASSENGER WHEN PULLED. I HAD TO HAVE THE PERSON SLIDE OUT FROM UNDER THE BELT TO BE RELEASED. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES BUT THIS LAST TIME WAS THE WORSE AS TO THE "TIGHTENING" ON THE PASSENGER. IT IS ONLY THE FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. THEY OPENED THE HATCH AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDOW DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. SHE ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDOW BACK INTO THE HINGE. WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALER THE LEFT WINDOW DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HINGES DETACHED FROM THE WINDOW SEAL WHICH HELD THE WINDOW IN PLACE. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER. SHE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, AND WILL SUBMIT THE CASE NUMBER WITH THE HARD COPY OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 44,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,989. *AK

I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY CAR START SMOKING, WHEN I STOPPED IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CAR IS TOTALED. THE FIRE ORIGINATED AT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEAR THE SPARK PLUGS. *JB
AT 55,350 MILES MY 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT'S TRANSMISSION WOULD FLARE WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A SOLENOID MALFUNCTION IN MY TRANSMISSION; THEREFORE, AFFECTING OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT. MILES WISE, I STILL HAD A LITTLE UNDER 5,000 MILES UNTIL THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, YEARS WISE, I WAS AT 5 YEARS 74 DAYS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS PROBLEM COST ME $2168.38. I DON'T THINK VEHICLE AT 55K MILES SHOULD NEED A REBUILDING OF A TRANSMISSION. I THINK I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED IN SOME WAY FOR THE COST.....EVEN THOUGH I WENT OVER THE WARRANTY BY 74 DAYS. *NM
ICE ON ROAD, LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. CRASHED HEAD ON INTO DITCH EMBANKMENT AND AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY (FAILURE 1) THEN VEHICLE ROLLED OVER ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE. UNSTABLE VEHICLE MODEL. *JB
SLIDING PROBLEM EXISTS IN THE 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT, 2 DOOR, EVEN THOUGH I DROVE 30-35 MILES SOMETIMES. WHEN SLIDING THE STEERING WAS OUT OF CONTROL. FORTUNATELY, NO CAR FOLLOWED ME CLOSELY WHEN SLIDING HAPPENED.*AK
THE REAR LIFTGATE GLASS FELL OFF THE HINGES. THE FALLING GLASS DAMAGED THE REAR DEFROSTER WIRES (CAN NO LONGER BE USED) THE HINGE HOLDING THE GLASS BROKE OFF FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE GLASS TO FALL TO THE GROUND. IT COST $130 AT THE FORD DEALER. NHTSE RECALL 04V442 INVESTIGATED THIS EXACT COMPLAINT AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED BUT FORD INFORMED ME THAT MY 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS BUILT IN A FACTORY NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. THE NHTSE SHOULD CONSIDER RE-OPENING THIS CASE AS IT IS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS THE RECALL ON THE SAME EXACT MAKE AND MODEL. ALL INCIDENTS OF THIS FAILURE OF THE REAR LIFTGATE GLASS HINGES SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD. THANK YOU *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. WHEN THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE, THE BACK OF THE SEAT RECLINED AND WOULD NOT REMAIN UPRIGHT. THE DEALER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V281000 (SEATS: FRONT ASSEMBLY: RECLINER). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,477 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE FORD DEALER HAS REPLACED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS TWICE IN 4 YEARS DUE TO RUSTING ROTORS. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE RUST WAS TOO DEEP FOR THE ROTORS TO BE TURNED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS AT 15,857 MILES AND THE SECOND REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AT 29701 MILES. I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, IT IS NOT USED OFF-ROAD OR ANY OTHER WAY TO CAUSE THE RUST. THE FIRST TIME, FORD PAID FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS BUT NOT THE BRAKE PADS. THE SECOND TIME, I HAD TO PAY $401.00 FOR THE ENTIRE ROTOR AND BRAKE REPLACEMENT. FURTHERMORE, AT TIMES, THERE IS A METAL GRINDING SENSATION WHEN APPLY THE BRAKES. IT CREATES THE SOUND OF METAL GRINDING ON METAL. I HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO STOP THE GRINDING SENSATION. THANK YOU *TR
FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT HAS BEEN BROKE WITH RECLINER PROBLEM SINCE THE RECALL ON IT IN 2003, THEY NEVER CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AND TRIED TO CHARGE ME WHEN THE MAILED ME THE RECALL. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A NEW RECALL AS OF APRIL 2006 ON THE SAME EXACT THING THAT THEY WILL NOT HONOR. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE OPENING THE BACK WINDOW, THE LEFT SIDE HINGE FELL OFF. THE WINDOW WAS HANGING BY ONE HINGE. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO SECURE THE WINDOW, BUT WHILE THE WINDOW WAS BEING ADJUSTED, THE RIGHT HINGE FELL OFF. THE WIRING FROM THE BACK WINDSHIELD WIPER HELD THE WINDOW IN PLACE AND KEPT THE WINDOW FROM FALLING TO THE GROUND. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN INFORMED AND DETERMINED THE HINGES WERE STRIPPED. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED A REPLACEMENT HINGE KIT TO REPAIR THE WINDOW.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN STARTED AND IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 35 TO 40 DEGREES OUTSIDE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNALS BEFORE THE WINDSHIELD EXPLODED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HINGE WAS BROKEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW HINGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
GOT STUCK IN SEAT BELT & HAD TO BE CUT OUT. ON PASSENGER SIDE, FELL ASLEEP WITH SEAT BELT AROUND ME AND WHEN WOKE COULDNT GET OUT. NHTSA RECALL 04V442000 ON THE REAR LIFTGATE GLASS. NO PARTS AVAILABLE SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2004. WHILE SHIFTING GEARS THE SHIFTER BROKE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE SHIFTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *NM

REAR WINDOW HINGES FAILED ON ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE REQUIRING BOTH HINGES THAT HOLDS THE REAR WINDOW GLASS IN PLACE TO BE REPLACED. DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPAIR HINGES BUT THE REAR WINDOW IS NOW UNABLE TO BE OPENED DUE TO LATCH BEING DAMAGED BY HINGES AND DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX THE LATCH THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE REAR WINDOW. THEY REFERRED ME TO A GLASS REPAIR SHOP TO DO THE REPAIR.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP FROM ANY SPEED BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER HAS TO STAND ON THEM IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE DEALER STATED THE ROTORS HAD BEEN CUT AND HOT SPOTS DEVELOPED. *AK
THE REAR END WAS LEAKING FLUID ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS, HAD THE REAR DIFFERENTAIL SEAL REPLACED TWO TIMES, WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. EVENTUALLY THE REAR END HAD TO BE REPLACED.*AK REAR END NOW SHUTTERS AND SHAKES LESS THEN 10,000 MILES AFTER IT WAS REPLACED.
WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND COMING INTO A TURN CONSUMER STARTED TO BRAKE. THE BRAKES GRABBED SEVERELY, AND CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHICH COLLIDED WITH A GUARD RAIL ON THE RIGHT SIDE, AND BOUNCED TO THE LEFT, COLLIDING WITH AN EMBANKMENT. CONSUMER STRUCK HER HEAD ON THE LEFT WINDOW, AND THEN DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES FROM THE GLASS, AND BURNS FROM THE AIR BAGS. THE POLICE DID ARRIVED, AND CONSUMER WAS CITED. *AK
IN AUGUST 2003, REPORTED TO DEALER THAT THE TRUCK WAS GROANING WHEN TURNING. SERVICE ADVISED THAT I WAS TURNING THE WHEEL TOO FAR AND RUBBING THE TIRES ON THE WHEEL WELLS. THIS WAS NOT POSSIBLE SINCE THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLS. BY NOVEMBER, THE TRUCK WOULD HARDLY TURN WITHOUT DRAGGING THE BACK TIRES AND THE DEALER FOUND THERE WAS NO FLUID IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL REQUIRING A COMPLETE OVERHAUL. THEN, IN JUNE 2004, THE "NEW" SEALS FAILED ALLOWING THE FLUID TO, AGAIN, DRAIN OUT. DEALER IS CURRENTLY REPAIRING. *AK
