AFTER STOPPING AT STOP LIGHT AND PROCEEDING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN , THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT STRAIGHTEN UP, IT BEGAN TO TURN VERY FREE, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.*AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE BURNED TOTALLY WHILE PARKED IN GARAGE, ALSO BURNING THE GARAGE, CAUSING $6,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO GARAGE ALONE. *AK
PE00 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 60MPH ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A NOISE, THEN LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. SHE WAS BOUNCING ACROSS HIGHWAY. REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. SHE PULLED OVER AND CHANGED TIRE. DURING VEHICLE OPERATION THE CLIMATE CONTROL SHUTDOWN AND THE TURN SIGNAL, AND BACK UP LIGHTS WENT OUT, RESULTING IN THE MELTING DOWN OF THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS. *AK *JB
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE (#97V083000). CALLED FOR APPOINTMENT, DEALER SAID WILL ORDER PARTS & TO CALL BACK IN 2 WEEKS. RETURNED CALL IN 2 WEEKS & INFORMED STILL NO PARTS. ON BACK ORDER. *AK CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS VEHICLE. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD A TREAD SEPARATION, AND CONSUMER HAD TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD. FIRESTONE WILDERNESS, SIZE P235/75R15. *AK
ANTILOCK BRAKES RELEASE WHENEVER DRIVER HITS A BUMP OR POTHOLE.
ANTILOCK BRAKES LOCK UP WHEN STOPPING SUDDENLY, ALSO MAKES NOISE WHEN CROSSING BUMPS.
WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED I HAD THE ORIGINAL FIRESTONE TIRES PUT ON THE EXPLORER BY FORD, ALTHOUGH I DON'T HAVE THE MODEL NUMBER AVAILABLE ANYMORE. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65-70 MPH ON A WARM SUMMER EVENING, GOING FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO MY THEN-HOME IN WOODLAND, CA (A HIGH TEMPERATURE AREA) WHEN I EXPERIENCED A TIRE BLOW-OUT. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ANY OTHER CARS, AND THUS THERE WERE NO INJURIES. I SPECIFICALLY REMEMBER BEING TOLD BY THE PERSON WHO HELPED ME CHANGE THE TIRE THAT THE TREAD HAD SHREDDED OFF THE TIRE, AND THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANY SIGN OF A NAIL PUNCTURE, ETC. I IMMEDIATELY HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED WITH BRIDGESTONE TIRES, AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $400. I HAVE THE RECEIPT FROM TEH REPLACEMENT TIRES, BUT HAVE NO RECORD OF THE ACCIDENT, ALTHOUGH FRIENDS REMEMBER ME DESCRIBING THE BLOW-OUT AND WOULD SIGN A DECLARATION ABOUT IT. I HAVE ASKED FORD TO CHECK THEIR RECORDS FOR WHAT SPECIFIC TYPE OF TIRE WAS ON MY VEHICLE.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 15 )
DRIVERS INSIDE SEAT TRACK BRACKET BROKE, ALLOWING BOLT TO LOOSEN.

ANTILOCK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED STAYS ILLUMINATED 90 PERCENT OF THE TIME WHILE DRIVING, WHEN IT'S OFF AND BRAKES APPLIED, VEHICLE SWERVES FROM SIDE TO SIDE.
VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE IT WAS PARKED, AND IN THE OFF POSITION PRIOR TO RECALL. POLICE REPORT INDICATED THAT IT WAS IGNITION-RELATED. (96V-071). *AK *SLC
SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE WERE SEPARATING AND HAD BULGES ON THE TREAD WITH UNEVEN WEAR. I STILL HAVE ONE OF THE TIRES AS A SPARE. (DOT NUMBER: W2HL1MO TIRESIZE: P235/75R15)
HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM REPLACED, VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE ANIT-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. BRAKES ONLY 16, 000 MILES AT TIME OF REPLACEMENT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING MOSTLY WHEN ROAD IS WET, FRONT RIGHT ABS BRAKE LOCKS UP, WORKS FINE AFTER RELEASING BRAKES; ALSO, BETWEEN 65 TO 75 MPH VEHICLE SHAKES SEVERLY.*AK
THE BRAKE DRUM HAS RUSTED, CAUSING THE ABS TO LOCK UP ON THE REAR WHEELS.*AK
FRONT BRAKES MAKE NOISE/VIBRATE WHEN APPLIED ON SLICK ROADS. *AW
THROTTLE RETURN SPRING STUCK, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. *SD

WHEN APPLYING ANTILOCK BRAKES ON WET ROADS, WHEELS LOCK UP.
OWNER STATES THAT THE UPPER DOOR HINGE IS WEAK AND SOMETIMES DOOR MUST BE SLAMMED TO CLOSE; ALSO THE LOWER HINGE HAS STARTED TO WEAKEN DUE TO THE LACK OF SUPPORT FROM TOP HINGE. *AK RECEIVED FROM CONSUMER WHO STATED THIS IS NOT HIS VEHICLE OR PROBLEMS. *SLC
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN THIRD GEAR. *AK

THE LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOOSE CONTROL AN WENT INTO A SKID, THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER AND EJECTED THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER, PASSENGER WAS KILLED, DRIVER SUSTAINED NON-INCAPACITATING INJURIES(TEXAS PEACE OFFICERS ACCIDENT REPORT, BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE, P235/75R15, RADIAL ATX M/S, VDHL10M0184, LEFT REAR). PLASTIC PLUG ON TRANSMISSION CASE FAILED PREMATURELY, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION OIL TO LEAK/OVERHEATING OF THE GEAR COMPONENTS. *SD
