WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING VEHICLE STALLED AND CUT OFF.ALSO, BRAKES KEPT WEARING OUT. *AK
CAR STALLS CONTINUOUSLY. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER, DEALER CANNOT DETECT PROBLEM. *AK
ODOMETER FAILED TO PROVIDE ACCURATE READING AND JUMPED BACK AND FORTH WITH A 15 MILE DIFFERENCE.
TIRES ON THE FRONT END CANNOT STAY BALANCED, THE VEHICLE HAS HAD NEW TIRES AND FRONT BALANCING. AS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A TSB ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM (TSB 96-4-15, TSB 96-4-16, TSB 96-4-17). FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE LOWER BALL JOINTS FAILED SOME WHAT PREMATURELY ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAD THEM REPLACED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE ALARMING PART OF THE LOWER BALL JOINT LOOSENESS WAS THE RAPID WEAR THAT IT CAUSED TO THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE TIRES. THIS VEHILCE WENT THROUGH THE STATE SAFETY INSPECTION AT SPENCE FORD 5/12/97 WITH 38817 MILES. I CHANGED MY OWN OIL TWICE AT 42,039 AND 45,175 MILES AND YOU CAN'T HELP BUT TO OBSERVE THE TIRES. THE POINT IS THAT BY 47,050 THE VERY INSIDE EDGE OF THE FRONT TIRES HAD WORN RIGHT DOWN TO THE STEEL CORD. FORTUNATELY FOR ME THE TIRE WENT FLAT WHILE SITTING IN THE PARKIND LOT AT WORK. THE TIRES WERE FIRESTONE ATXS P235/75R -15 THE TYPE AND SIZE JUST RECALLED AND I REPLACED THEM WITH THE SAME. THE PUBLICITY OF THIS RECALLED HAS MADE ME WONDER IF THE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON THIS VEHICLE MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO SOME OF THE TIRE FAILURES. WHILE THE LOOSENES THAT DEVELOPED IN THE LOWER BALL JOINTS SEEMED SOMEWHAT PREMATURE, IT IS HOW QUICKLY THIS CAUSED THE TIRES TO WEAR ON THE INSIDE EDGE RIGHT DOWN TO THE STEEL CORDS THAT SCARES ME AND SEEMED EXTREME IN MY EXPERIENCE. I WAS DRIVING ON TIRE THAT WERE READY TO BLOW OUT AT ANYTIME BEFORE I REALIZED ANYTHING WAS WRONG. *AK
FIRESTONE: VEH1 WAS ON 15TH FWY THEY HEARD A NOISE THEN THEY SAW A LARGE PIECE OF PLASTIC OR MATERIAL, THAT PIECE WENT AROUND THE TIRE SHREDING IT, THE PIECE OF PLASTIC HIT THE WHEEL WELL THE PART THAT HIT THE TIRE AND CAUSE THE DAMAGE CAME OF THEIR OWN VEH I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO CALL THE PART THAT CAME OF THEIR VEH SORRY. ORIGINAL TIRES-WOULD THIS YEAR QULIFY-PLEASE ADVISE. (CLAIM# 75-C311-816) *MW
BRAKES LOCKED UP.
RECALL 95I007; THE REAR LIFTGATE CYLINDERS BROKE OFF AND FELL ON THE OCCUPANT, CAUSING INJURIES TO OCCUPANT. DEALER STATED THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE RECALL. *AK
DP98001, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES HEAVY LATERAL VIBRATION WHICH MAY CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. DEALER REPLACED ALIGNMENT, TIRES, ETC. PROBLEM IS REOCCURRING. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE. HE HAD PULLED OVER ONTO THE SIDE. LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED RIGHT REAR FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRE HAD LOST ALL THE TREAD, TOTALLY RECAPPED.*AK
A BUBBLE WAS FOUND ON THE INSIDE OF THE FIRESTONE TIRE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE WHILE DRIVING, 0NE TIRE WENT FLAT AND LATER A SMALL STICK GOT STUCK IN THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES. NLM
THE PLASTIC PORTION OF THE SEAT BELT CONNECTION IS CRACKED AND WAS REPORTED TO FORD FOR REPLACEMENT. NO ACTION --EXCEPT REPLACEMENT WOULD COST $800 ON OUR PART. FORD HAS NOT RESPONDED AFTER FIRST CONTACT.
THROTTLE STICKS IN UP POSITION, REQUIRING A HARD PRESS( STOMP) TO ACTIVATE. THIS LEAD TO A ACCIDENT IN WET WEATHER WHERE THE STOMP LED TO THE VEHICLE SPINNING OUT DURING A TURN. WAS TOLD BY REPAIR SHOP THAT THE BUTTERFLY WAS STICKING AND CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEED CONTROLL STAYING ON DESPITE PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. (TIRESIZE: 235/175R15)
REAR LAP AND SHOULDER BELTS DO NOT TIGHTEN TO KEEP THE ADULT OR CHILD FROM MOVING FORWARD IN AN ACCIDENT OR DURING AN EMERGENCY SLAMMING ON OF BREAKS. ADDIDIONALLY THE REAR SEATBELT LOCKS DO NOT RELEASE AFTER BEING BUCKLED WITHOUT A LOT OF TUGGING AND JIGGLING.
LEFT REAR WHEEL CAME OFF OF VEHICLE.
LIFT GATE BRACKET BROKE OFF.
WHILE DRIVING WITH THE HEATER ON, BLACK, ACRID, CHOKING SMOKE FILLED THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT SO BADLY THE DRIVER COULD NOT SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD ON A 1994 FORD, EXPLORER SEPARATED, CAUSING ONE PERSON TO BECOME PARALYZED AND ONE KILLED. TIRE SIZE WAS P23575R15. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK FIRESTONE ATX P235/75/R15 *MW
PE00.020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 80MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A POPPY NOISE. VEHICLE SPINNED OUT OF CONTROL AND WENT OFF THE SIDE OF A ROAD INTO THE DESERT. CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS THROWN OUT OF THE CAR. THIS WAS CAUSED BY RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATING FROM WHEEL. *AK FIRESTONE ATX 235/75/R15 *MW

HYDRAULIC CYLINDER FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL CAMPAIGN 95I-007, RECALL CAMPAIGN NOT HONORED, LIFT CYLINDER REMOVED AND HATCH BRACKET SPOT-WELDED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. *CJ

WHILE UNLOADING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE THE HATCH FELL ON THE OWNER'S HEAD . THE OWNER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE TO INSPECT THE HATCHBACK FOR DEFECTS. AT THE TIME OF NOTICE THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE CYLINDER WAS WEAK AND OR DEFECTIVE. THE OWNER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THE INCIDENT. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN SHE WENT TO SIT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT THE SEATBACK SEPARATED FROM THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. *AK
BOLTS THAT CONNECT THE STEERNG BOX TO THE FRAME BROKE CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.
DRIVING VEHICLE WITH WINDOWS & SUN ROOF CLOSED. HEARD A LOUD BOOM GLASS SHATTERED FROM ABOVE & INTO VEHICLE & TOWARDS THE REAR. NOTHING HIT SUN ROOF TO BREAK IT. HAVE NOT TAKEN TO DEALER YET. *AK
FIRESTONE TIRES WERE SEPARATING FROM THE STEEL BELTS PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE, CONSUMER REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT. NLM
WHEN I BOUGHT MY FORD EXPLORER USED IN 1997 WITH 39,000 MILES ON IT THE TIRES WERE BLOATED OUT OF SHAPE AND THE VEHICAL SHOOK VIOLENTLY AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 35 MPH. I REPLACED THE TIRES BECAUSE THEY WERE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THEN THE TIRES WERE RE-CALLED. I CONTACTED FIRESTONE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE TIRES BECAUSE I DID NOT SAVE THEM AFTER THEY WERE REMOVED AND I COULD NOT PROVE I EVER HAD THEM. NOW I HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SPARE TIRE (WHICH IS THE ORIGIONAL FIRESTONE ATX DEFECTIVE TIRE. I CONTACTED FIRESTONE BY EMAIL WITH THIS FACT AND FIRESTONE IS IGNORING ME. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO NOW THAT I HAVE THE PROOF THAT FIRESTONE DEMANDED THAT THEY SOLD ME DEFECTIVE TIRES. THANKS, JOHN ULRICH. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 50-55MPH THE HOOD FLEW UP ON THE TRUCK. WHEN THE HOOD FLEW UP , THE HOOD CAME BACK AND HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND IT CRACKED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER. DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS DUE TO POOR DESIGN OF THE HOOD LATCH. *AK
HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE (95I007000). HAD CALLED THE DEALER TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. WAS INFORMED BY DEALERSHIP THAT THEY REFUSED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *AK

WHILE DRIVING, A FIRESTONE ATX TIRE EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, $3500 WORTH OF DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BECAUSE OF THE TREAD SEPARATION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONSUMER MUST HAVE RUN OVER A NAIL, HOWEVER NO NAIL WAS FOUND. *SLC
RECALL 95I007000, DEALER REFUSES TO FIX RECALL BECAUSE VEHICLE HAS TOO MUCH MILEAGE. *AK
CONSUMER WENT TO START VEHICLE. NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING ROUGH, MAKING LOUD NOISE, KEPT CUTTING OFF ABOUT 5 TIMES. NOTICED GAS WAS ALL OVER ENGINE AND MUFFLER. MECHANIC SAID VAVLES STAYED OPEN WHICH CAUSED THE GAS TO FLOW IN ENGINE AND POWER BRAKES WHICH BECAME DEFECTIVE DUE TO GAS LEAK. THIS DEFECT CAN CAUSE A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE. *AK
HATCHBACK HYDRAULIC CYLINDER FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL (95I-007.000). *AK
THE BRAKES SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED AT 48MILES, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. DEALER REPLACED CALIPERS/PADS/ROTORS AND SEALS. *AK
GAS GAUGE FAILURE. *AK
A/C COMPRESSOR FAILED.
THE FIRESTONE ATX TIRE ON THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND VEHICLE ROLLOVER, INJURY TO CONSUMER. *MJS
CONSUMER TOOK CAR IN FOR RECAL 97 V 083 000 REPAIRS. 3 YEARS LATER, CONSUMER'S CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE THE SAME WAY AS MENTIONED IN RECALL. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER THAT A FUSE WAS PUT IN TO STOP WHOLE CAR FROM CATCHING FIRE. CONSUMER STATED DOOR CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED.*AK THE DEALER DECLINED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILED FUSE. THE CONSUMER ALSO HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE MIRROR WIRES AND THE MIRROR SWITCH FAILED. *YH

R/R TREAD ON TIRE CAME OFF CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOOSE CONTROL AND SWERVE TO THE LEFT STRIKING A GUARDRAIL WITH THE LEFT TOP, THE VEHICLE BOUNCED OFF THE GUARDRAIL SLIDING LEFT ON LEFT SIDE AND CAME TO REST ON ITS TOP (TEXAS PEACE OFFICERS ACCIDENT REPORT, BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE, P235/75R15, RADIAL ATX M/S, VDHL1M0054, RIGHT REAR).
