I HAD TO REPLACE MY FIRESTONE TIRES WITH GOODYEAR TIRES IN OCT 98 FOR A COST OF $380.00 BECUASE MY TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE. IN JAN 97 MY EXPLORER ROLLED OFF THE INTERSTATE 35 DURING A SNOW STORM. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT IS UNKNOWN, BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE CAR LOST CONTACT WITH THE SURFACE. THE TOTAL PROPERTY DAMAGES WAS $6000.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )
DRIVING VEHICLE AND STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL VEHICLE STALLS, CHECK ENGINE SENSOR CAME OFF AND ON, VEHICLE WENT INTO OPEN THROTTLE POSITION , LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE ON WET ROAD SURFACE, WENT INTO A DITCH AND VEHICLE ROLLED OVER. *AK
PARKING BRAKES ARE INADEQUATE, PARKING ON A HILL AND APPLYING BRAKES, THE VEHICLE STARTS SLOWLY ROLLING BACKWARDS. THERE WAS A RECALL ON PARKING BRAKES, BUT THE DEALER SAY THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL. *AK
SUN ROOF SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAILED. ALSO REPLACED MUFFLER AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *AK
5-SPEED TRANSMISSION IS MANUFACTURED WITH RUBBER PLUGS WHICH IN TIME DRY OUT AND ALLOW FLUID TO ESCAPE. THE FLUIT GETS BLOWN OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN ON HIGHWAY SPEEDS, CAUSING THE FIFTH GEAR TO OVERHEAT AND SEIZE. *AK
THE FITTING THAT HOLDS THE LIFTGATE OF THE VEHICLE HAD FELL IN ON BOTH SIDES LEFT AND RIGHT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHOP. THE CONSUMER HAD THE SAME VEHICLE 1992, AND THE DEALER IS FIXING IT *AK
THE RADIUS ARM BUSINGS DO NOT LAST DUE TO THEIR COMPOSITION AND THE POSITIONING NEAR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM.
BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE GAS CYLINDER BROKE OFF TWICE, CAUSING THE LIFTGATE TO FALL DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY, AND MAY RESULT IN INJURIES. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER TO THE LEFT PARTIALLY INTO THE INSIDE LANE, THE DRIVER STEERED TO THE RIGHT LOOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE SLID SIDEWAYS FOR ABOUT 125 FEET AND OVERTURNED 3.5 TIMES BEFORE COMING TO REST, ONE PERSON WAS KILLED, TWO PEOPLE SUSTAINED NON INCAPACITATING INJURIES AND ONE PERSON HAD INCAPACITATING INJURIES (BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE P235/75R15, RADIAL ATX M/S VDHL1M0254 LEFT REAR). DURING SNOWING CONDITIONS, VEHICLE WAS ENGAGED INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE USING THE DASH MECHANISM. IT DID NOT ENGAGE PROPERLY AND ONLY WORKED IN TWO WHEEL DRIVE; THE LIGHT INDICATED THAT IT WAS IN FOUR WHEEL. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED WITHIN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO PREVENT INCIDENTS LIKE THIS.
FIRE IGNITED AROUND DOOR/DASHBOARD/LEFT SIDE OF STEERING WHEEL, VEHICLE PARKED/UNOCCUPIED, ACCORDING TO FIRE DEPT/INSURANCE CO, ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, VEHICLE TOTALED,VEHICLE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION, NO REPAIRS AS OF YET. *AK
ANTILOCK BRAKES LOCK UP.
LEAVES ACCUMULATED IN HEATER BLOWER ASSEMBLY. APRIL 1994 WE PAID $92 TO HAVE LEAVES REMOVED FROM SYSTEM AFTER WE SMELLED BURNING LEAVES AND BLOWER MOTOR WAS NOISY. IN NOVEMBER 1996 WE PAID $52 TO HAVE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR REPLACED AFTER IT BURNED UP, FILLING CAR WITH SMOKE BUT NO FLAMES OBSERVED. WE CURRENTLY SMELL LEAVES BURNING EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE CAR WITH HEATER ON SO EXPECT MORE PROBLEMS SOON.

DESIGN DEFECT CAUSES REAR AXLE VENT HOSE TO RUB ON RUBBER BRAKE LINE, ALSO CONTINUOUS UP AND DOWN MOTION OF AXLE CAUSES VENT HOSE TO RUB THROUGH BRAKE HOSE, RESULTING IN BRAKE FAILURE. *AK
REAR BRAKE LINE HOSE IN CONTACT WITH VENT HOSE FOR REAR AXLE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED BY MANUFACTURER, CUT THROUGH THE BRAKE LINE, CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE. *AK
AIRBAG DIDNOT DEPLOY DURING FRONT COLLISION, VEHICLE HIT RETAINING WALL ON EXPRESSWAY HEAD ON. *AK
