MY DAUGHTER GOT TANGLED IN THE SEATBELT. NORMALLY THAT WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM BUT SHE HAD PULLED THE SEAT BELT ALL THE WAY OUT AND ACTIVATED THE LOCKING MECHANISM. IT WAS VERY TIGHT AROUND HER WAIST AND I COULD NOT GET HER FREE FROM THE SEAT BELT. I HAD TO CUT IT IN ORDER TO FREE HER. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE HER TO THE DOCTOR BECAUSE OF SOME INJURY TO HER. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF RELEASE ON THE SEATBELT LOCK. I AM SO THANKFUL SHE WAS NOT HURT ANY WORSE THAN SHE WAS. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS GOING TO COST ME SO MUCH TO REPLACE A SEAT BELT THAT I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CUT. I HOPE TO SEE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT SEATBELTS SO NO ONE HAS TO GO THROUGH THIS. *TR
2006 FORD EXPLORER XLT #RD RADIATOR GOING IN TODAY. FORD KNOWS ABOUT PROBLEM AND STILL LETS CUSTOMERS PAY FOR ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE HAD A SLOW LEAK IN MY EXPLORER FOR A WEEK, WE CHANGED THE OVER FLOW TANK AND THEN THE LEAK BECAME A MORE SERIOUS ONE. MY DAD LOOKED AT IT AND MY RADIATOR IS LEAKING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT PLACES. IT IS GOING COST ME ABOUT $300.00 TO GET A NEW OR IF IT CAN BE REPAIRED THE PRICE OF IT. A OWNER OF A SHOP HAS INFORMED ME THAT HE HAS HAD TO REPAIR SEVERAL RADIATORS WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE AS MINE. IF THIS IS SUCH A BIG PROBLEM FOR EVERYONE WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL YET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND DROVE OVER A BUMP. IMMEDIATELY, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE THEN BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO OCCUR WHEN DRIVING ON UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE FOR THE SAME FAILURE AND THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED EACH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,551. UPDATED 05/08/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE.
I HAVE MY THIRD RADIATOR IN MY 2006 FORD EXPLORER WITH THE V6 ENGINE. *TR
I BEGAN TO NOTICE LEAKAGE UNDER MY CAR. IT APPEARED TO BE ANTIFREEZE SO I KEPT A CHECK ON IT. AFTER TWO WEEKS, THERE WAS A GUSH OF LIQUID. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE RADIATOR WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I BOUGHT MY FORD EXPLORER NEW JUST 2 YEARS AGO. SHOULDN'T A RADIATOR LAST MORE THAN 2 YEARS? IT COST ME $80 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND $545 TO REPLACE IT. I HAVE THE OLD RADIATOR. IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER THERE IS CORROSION WHICH INDICATES THAT THERE HAD BEEN A MALFUNCTION OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. *TR
DEFECTIVE RADIATORS IN 2006-2007 FORD EXPLORERS. HOLE IN RADIATOR FROM WEAR FROM LACK OF RADIATOR SUPPORT. ALSO GASKET SEAL BETWEEN PLASTIC IN RADIATOR AND ALUMINUM. I CAN'T GET A REPLACEMENT RADIATOR BECAUSE THERE ARE NONE AVAILABLE-3/17/08. SO IT'S OBVIOUS THERE IS A PROBLEM. *TR
RADIATOR LEAK IN 2006 FORD EXPLORER. V6 ENGINE. HAPPENED AT 42,000 MILES. HAPPENED A SECOND TIME ON 4/11/10. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2006 FORD XLT EXPLORER WITH APX. 17,000 MILES. I HAD IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS IT HAD ABOUT 19,000 MILES. I DRIVE IT ABOUT 100 MILES TO A CONVENTION AND BY THE TIME I GOT THERE AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE STARTED SHIFTING HARD, JERKING AND LUNGING. IT WAS MAKING A LOUD BANGING SOUND AND FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO FALL OUT. I TOOK IT TO FORD, THEY DID SOME WORK ON THE TRANSFER CASE AND REPLACED A MODULE. ABOUT A MONTH AND A THOUSAND MILES LATER, IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD AND THEY DID SOME MORE WORK. THE SHIFTER LEVER WAS REPLACED. LATER IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. IT DOESN'T DO IT EVERY DAY BUT DOES DO IT SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK, SOME DAYS ARE WORSE THAN OTHERS. AS TIME GOES BY IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE AND HAPPEN MORE OFTEN. SOMETIME WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THERE IS A DELAY TO ENGAGE AND ONE MORNING IT CAUSE ME TO BACK INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT ALSO HAS A CRACKED RUNNING BOARD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. AFTERWARDS, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS FLASHED ONE TIME. THE CONTACT ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COAST TO A STOP AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DROVE TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO FAILURES. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIND AN ERROR CODE FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,700. UPDATED 4/16/08 *CN UPDATED
WHILE IN PARK VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN INCLINE ALMOST STRIKING PERSON AT BOTTOM OF DRIVEWAY LUCKILY HE JUMPED OUT OF THE WAY AND IT STRUCK SIDE OF HIS TRUCK CAUSING DAMAGE, DRIVEWAY HAD BEEN SNOW COVERED BUT CLEARED DOWN TO ASPHALT, HAD BEEN PARKED APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING . THIS HAS SINCE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES IN VARYING WEATHER CONDITIONS, INCLUDING RAINY, SNOWY, AND SUNNY WITH DRY PAVEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS ROLLED FORWARD AND BACK, WITH AND WITHOUT THE PARKING BRAKE SET, WHICH THE PARKING BRAKE IT TAKES LONGER AND ROLLS SLOWER; EACH TIME THERE AFTER STRIKING VEHICLE PARKED CLOSELY AS A PRECAUTION, WHEELS GET CHOCKED NOW WHEN PARKED ON INCLINE TO PREVENT SUV FROM ROLLING. FORD HAS CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AND NOT FOUND ANY ISSUES AND FIXED OR REPLACED NOTHING SAYING IT IS BECAUSE OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NOT A CONTAINING LIMITED SLIP GEARING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT ACCIDENTALLY STRUCK THE SAFETY VALVE SWITCH WITH HIS FOOT. THE SWITCH IS LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE FIREWALL NEAR THE GLOVE BOX. MINUTES LATER, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE COMPONENT. THE SWITCH IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE TO HIS FOOT, WHICH MAY CAUSE HIM TO ACCIDENTALLY STRIKE IT WITHOUT KNOWING. THE CONTACT FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 48,000. UPDATED 03-04-08 *BF
I OWN A 2006 FORD EXPLORER EDDIE BAUER MODEL. SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, THE REAR WIPER BLADE STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALER WHICH I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY TOLD ME IT IS NOT COVERED AND A NEW MOTOR WOULD COST $300 PLUS LABOR. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WITH THE HEAVY SNOWS AND RAIN IN MY AREA, A MALFUNCTIONING REAR WIPER COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I KNOW OF 4 OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM AND I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON COMPLAINING OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE TRANSMISSION WILL BANG INTO GEAR AND IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND. ALSO HAVE HAD BUCKING AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS UP AND DOWN AND SLIPS. WAS TOLD THE BUCKING AND SLIPPING IS DUE TO A LEAN READING IN THE COMPUTER. TOLD TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THREE OF THE EIGHT PLUGS BROKE OFF AS THEY WERE TRYING TO TAKE THEM OUT. THE SPARK PUG ARE MADE BY MOTORCRAFT WHICH IS FORD. THEY HAD TO BUY A KIT TO EXTRACT THEM AND IT COST AN ADDITIONAL $300.00 TO CHANGE EIGHT PLUGS WHICH I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED AT A COST OF $68.00. IT DIDN'T FIX THE ERRATIC SHIFTING AT FIRST. STILL SHIFTS VERY HARD FROM 1ST TO SECOND AND ACTED UP SHORTLY AFTER GETTING IT BACK. *TR
ON JAN 6 2009, I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF ANTIFREEZE ON THE GROUND UNDERNEATH MY 2006 FORD EXPLORER. THE EXPLORER IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 4.0L V6 ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AS IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY SAID THAT THE RADIATOR HAD CRACKED. I HAD IT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, AND AFTERWARDS I DID SOME SEARCHING THROUGH THE WARRANTY HISTORY THAT WAS PROVIDED TO ME WHEN I HAD BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, AND FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR HAD BEEN REPLACED ON FEB 18 2008 ALSO. THIS MEANS THAT TWO NEW RADIATORS HAVE GONE INTO THIS VEHICLE IN THE LAST YEAR. I SPOKE TO THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THIS IS THE FIRST THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, WITH NO PLANS FOR A RECALL IN THE FUTURE. THIS SEEMED STRANGE TO ME AS I KNOW OF AT LEAST 10 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD RADIATORS REPLACED, SOMETIMES THREE TIMES, IN THEIR 2006 EXPLORERS. I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES TO HAVE THE RADIATORS REPLACED WITH A BETTER DESIGNED PART. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE REPAIR HAD THE VEHICLE NOT BEEN UNDER WARRANTY. I APPRECIATE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO. *TR
THIS APPLIES TO ALL OF THE NEWER CARS, TRUCKS ETC. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE NEW HEADLIGHTS ARE CALLED, BUT THEY ARE BRIGHT WHITE OR BLUISH IN TINT. I HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY TIMES WHERE THE ONCOMING CARS WITH THESE LIGHT BLIND ME TO THE POINT I CAN'T SEE THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME. I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE SINCE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE HAVE THESE LIGHTS AND US THEM IN CONJUNCTION WITH FOG LIGHTS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER, I CAN'T BE THE ONLY PERSON WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN THE SPEED CONTROL IS ENGAGED AND I AM RUNNING BETWEEN 40 AND 45 MPH AND DRIVING ON GENTLY ROLLING HILLS THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF LEAVING ME NO POWER FOR BRAKES OR STEERING - NO CONTROL!
HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS STARTING WITH A LIFTER STUCK IN MOTOR AT 296 MILES, TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 15,700 MILES. BRAKES HAVE SQUEAKED SINCE IT WAS NEW, OVERHEAD CONSOLE HAS FALLEN OFF TWICE, SATELLITE RADIO WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. DOOR RUBBED ON RUNNING BOARD, NOW GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED UNDER 10 MILES PER GALLON. 14 TRIPS TO DEALERSHIP SO FAR AND STILL NOT ALL IS FIXED. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 06 EXPLORER WITH 12K MILES. SOON AFTER PURCHASE, I NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SOFT AND SEEMED TO REQUIRE A LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE THAN MY OLD EXPLORER. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE BRAKE PEDAL THEN FELT SLIGHTLY BETTER, BUT ONLY FOR A SHORT TIME. SINCE THAT TIME, THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I WAS ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE FOR A TURN BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO TURN, DESPITE HAVING THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. MOST RECENTLY, WHEN DRIVING IN SNOWY CONDITIONS, WHEN THE ABS KICKS IN, IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKE PEDAL CANNOT BE PUSHED DOWN AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP, CAUSING ME TO SLIDE THROUGH A RED LIGHT, DESPITE GOING SLOW AND BRAKING A LONG DISTANCE BEFORE THE LIGHT. THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE EXPLORER DOES NOT FEEL SAFE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! *TR
VEHICLE ACCIDENT TWO OCCUPANTS BOTH HAD SEATBELTS ON, BOTH HAD AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND BOTH STILL STRUCK WINDSHIELD. ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN NOVEMBER AND AS OF MAY ONE OCCUPANT IS STILL REMOVING GLASS FROM ARMS AND LEGS. FORD WILL NOT RESPOND TO E-MAILS REQUESTING WHY SEATBELT AND AIRBAGS DID NOT PREVENT OCCUPANTS FROM STRIKING WINDSHIELD. *TR
MY 2006 FORD EXPLORER HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT CAUSE IT TO LUNGE FORWARD WHEN STOPPING WHICH FORD SAYS THEY ARE AWARE OF BUT CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THE PROPPER REMEDY FOR. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION THAT COULD CAUSE ME TO RUN INTO OTHER STOPPED VEHICLES. I HAVE BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN THREE TIMES TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED WITH NO IMPROVEMENT WITH THE CONDITION.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE TRUCK STARTED JERKING UNCONTROLLABLY AND HE COULDN'T BACK UP SO HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. ALL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT DUE TO RADIATOR FAILURE. THE TRUCK WAS OFF WARRANTY SO HAD TO BUY A NEW RADIATOR. IN ORDER FOR THE RADIATOR TO HAVE A WARRANTY HAD TO BUY ANOTHER PART FROM THE FORD PLACE FOR 200.00. GOT THE PART AND RADIATOR. WITHIN SIX MONTHS TO A YEAR, SAME THING HAPPENED, HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER RADIATOR. HAVE HAD THREE RADIATORS AND NOW THIS YEAR 2013 LEAKING AGAIN AND THE RADIATOR THAT I PAID $600.00 FOR THE RADIATOR PLACE HAS WENT OUT OF BUSINESS SO I HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER RADIATOR. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS 2006 FORD EXPLORER XLT AND FORD KNOWS ABOUT IT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT HALF THE TIME, NEVER KNOW WHEN I WON'T BE ABLE TO MOVE IT IF ALL OF THE FLUID LEAKS OUT OR MAY STOP IN TRAFFIC SUDDENLY. PLEASE HELP US TO GET FORD TO RECALL THESE TRUCKS. *TR

WE HAVE TAKEN OUR 2006 FORD EXPLORER WITH JUST OVER 20,000 MILES ON IT INTO THE SHOP 3 TIMES DUE TO INTERMITTENT LOSE OF POWER WHEN STARTING OUT. THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE HAS BEEN RELOADED 2 TIMES. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN I TOLD THE DEALER TO KEEP IT UNTIL IT WAS FIXED. AFTER 2 DAYS THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT BELIEVED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. FORD THEN ASKED US TO DRIVE A UNSAFE CAR TO TROUBLE SHOOT IT FOR THEM WITH A FLIGHT RECORDER HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER. FORD CARE AND THE DEALER ARE BOTH NOT WILLING TO CALL BACK AND FIX THE CAR. *TR
WE OWN A 2006 FORD EXPLORER, AND ITS TRANSMISSION SLIPS, GETS CONFUSED DURING DOWNSHIFTS, AND NOW HAS DEVELOPED A LURCH FORWARD WHEN COMING TO A STOP. I HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP, WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER BROKE AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" BUT FORD IS WORKING ON A PROGRAM FOR THE COMPUTER THAT THEY ARE RELEASING IN MID NOVEMBER. FIRST OF ALL, IF THIS IS NORMAL WHY IS THIS THE SECOND ATTEMPT AT CREATING A FIX FOR A "NON-EXISTENT" PROBLEM WITH A "NORMALLY FUNCTIONING TRANSMISSION." FORD INSTRUCTED THE DEALERSHIPS TO LET IT BE UNTIL THE NEW "PROGRAM" COMES OUT IN NOVEMBER. WHERE EXACTLY DOES THAT LEAVE THE CONSUMER, I HAVE A TRANSMISSION THAT HAD HAS BEEN SLIPPING IN GEAR AND MIS-SHIFTING FOR THOUSANDS OF MILES AND A 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. IF THIS DOESN'T BECOME MORE OF A SAFETY CONCERN, WHICH I AM AFRAID IT WILL, I WILL LIKELY HAVE INCREASED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD BECAUSE OF IT. PLUS, NEVERMIND THIS CURRENT MODEL EXPLORER WILL NOW HAVE A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER RESALE VALUE AS THESE TYPES OF COMPLAINTS INCREASE. PLEASE HELP! THIS WAS A LARGE INVESTMENT TO MAKE, AND NOW I WILL HAVE TO PAY THE CONSEQUENCE FOR FORDS FAILURE. *TR
TRANSMISSION IS INCONSISTENT WHEN SHIFTING. SOMETIMES ENGINE ROARS WHEN TRANSMISSION IS IN BETWEEN GEARS. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT ON OCCASION. CURRENTLY I AM INVOLVED IN A LEMON LAW CASE TRYING TO GET FORD TO BUY MY CAR BACK. THEY ARE STATING THAT THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSMISSION AND AT THE SAME TIME SAYING THAT IT IS DUE TO ABUSE OR NEGLECT ON MY PART ????
