THIS VEHICLE HAD ONLY 50,216 MILES ON IT WHEN THE STEERING STARTED TO FAIL. ON THE HIGHWAY. FIRST THERE WAS A GRADUAL LOSS OF CONTROL WHICH ULTIMATELY GOT WORSE. MANAGED TO GET IT HOME SINCE I WASN'T FAR AWAY AT WHICH TIME POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. DIAGNOSIS REVEALED A FAILED STEERING RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. REPLACEMENT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AND IN FACT APPEARS TO BE QUITE COMMON. I CONSIDER THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THIS ASSEMBLY A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. IT APPEARS THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS FOR THIS APPLYING TO OTHER YEARS/VIN/MANUFACTURING LOCATIONS. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION IT TOOK A MONTH TO GET REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY WHICH TELLS ME FORD CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND. THANKYOU.

THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER BILL FICK FORD (737 I-45, HUNTSVILLE, TX 77340, (800) 559-4295) WHO WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD A-PILLAR MOLDING FLEW OFF, I BELIEVE WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT NO TRUE WAY TO KNOW WHEN. THE INNER PILLAR MOLDING APPEARS TO BE CRACKED ON A FEW PLACES AS WELL.
My suspension was damaged and my car froze and stalled during winter storm and caused my car to go to several shops and I spent lots money on repairs
FORD HAS A RECALL CASE 14S06 FOR THE POWER STEERING ON 2011-2013 FORD EXPLORERS. IN THIS RECALL IT NOTES THAT INDIVIDUALS WILL EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. MY 2013 EXPLORER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL BUT, IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. AT SLOW SPEEDS YOU CAN HARDLY TURN THE WHEELS...MAKING IT A HAZARD ON THE ROAD. MY WIFE CAME GOT OUT OF WORK AND WENT TO MAKE THE 5 MILE DRIVE HOME WHEN SHE NOTICED SHE COULD HARDLY STEER THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT WORK. A MESSAGE CAME ON NOTING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. MY WIFE IS A VERY SMALL AND STRUGGLED TO TURN THE WHEEL BUT, MANAGED TO GET IT HOME. IN TALKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER CARE, THEY NOTE THE RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE HER VEHICLE AS IT WAS MADE AT A DIFFERENT TIME OR IN A DIFFERENT BATCH AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ISSUES EXPERIENCED BY THOSE THAT HAD LOSS OF STEERING IN THE RECALL. FRUSTRATED THAT FORD IS ALLOWING VEHICLES THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS TO BE ON THE ROAD. AT THE TIME OF FILING THIS COMPLAINT, THERE WERE 1339 COMPLAINTS ON THE 2013 EXPLORER AND 481 OF THE COMPLAINTS WERE ON THE STEERING, THE MOST OF ANY CATEGORY, AND YET FORD IS NOT STANDING BEHIND WHAT SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE IN THAT YEAR AND MODEL. MY VEHICLE HAS 86,000 MILES ON IT. MANY OTHER VEHICLES HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SIMILAR ISSUE AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER.
I FEEL VERY NAUSEOUS, DIZZY AND HAVE A HEADACHE AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE A SHORT DISTANCE. VEHICLE ALSO SMELLS LIKE FUEL STRONGLY INSIDE THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND TURNING A CORNER, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING. I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO ENGAGE THE POWER STEERING. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE BUT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. THIS ISSUE WAS SUBJECT TO NHTA RECALL 14V-286 REGARDING 2013 EXPLORERS (RECALL NUMBER 14S06), BUT MY EXPLORER WAS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE ONES THAT WERE RECALLED. MY LOCAL FORD DEALER IS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR APPOINTMENT FOR ANOTHER MONTH SO I WILL TRY TO LOCATE AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP THAT CAN FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED AN UNKNOWN DEALER AND WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
2013 explorery EPS system randamly will go out causing very hard steering to the point you almost crash. It don't matter if it's dry or wet hot cold it'll randomly come on and it'll pull you to the side. There's been a recall for this couple times but I'm told my vehicle isn't in the recall well I don't understand why it's not because I've had the Ford dealership come out and reflash my PSCM and still it comes on and I lose power steering almost killing myself and my family multiple times now I don't know what to do it cost way too much for me to buy new parts all the time they say the recall won't apply to it but I don't understand why it won't it's been recalled that's confirmed recalled why can't I get my vehicle fixed on my family is safe
I STARTED MY CAR AFTER WORK (THIS IS AFTER A 12 HR SIT TIME) AND SEEN I HAD A FAULT ON MY DASHBOARD, POWER STEERING ASSIST AND SERVICE ADVANCE FAULTS. SO IN SHORT, I DO NOT HAVE POWER STEERING, NOR DO I HAVE MY 4WD, AND FOR SOME REASON MY TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK FOR STEADY ON. THE TURN SIGNAL WORKS FOR LANE CHANGES BUT NOT FOR STEADY ON TURNING.
IT APPEARS THERE ARE MAJOR ISSUES AND RECALLS ON THE EXPLORER WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST THAT IT COMPLETELY GOES OUT. I HAVE CALLED BOTH THE DEALERSHIPS AND FORD BOTH AGREE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT REFUSE TO HONOR THE RECALL BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. THERE HAVE BEEN MILLIONS OF RECALLS ON THIS BUT THEY WANT ME TO PAY $2500 TO FIX THE ISSUE. VEHICLE UNABLE TO MAKE TURNS AT LOW SPEEDS AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. NOW I AM STUCK IN GA WITH NO MONEY AND A BROKE CAR 4 HRS FROM HOME.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while reversing out of the driveway at 20 MPH, she heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from underneath the driver's side floorboard. The vehicle was repaired with remanufactured parts; however, while driving and turning all the way to the right, the steering rack was making abnormal grinding sounds. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who advised the contact to take the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealer since the parts to repair the vehicle were no longer available. The contact stated that the parts were on national back order. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving approximately 2 MPH in a parking lot, the vehicle rolled forward and power steering assist fault warning light illuminated. The contact was able to safely pull over and had to have the vehicle towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the power steering control module replaced. CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AT 137,000 MILES
HYDRAULIC FAILURE MY STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK AND VERY HARD I CANT MOVE THE VEHICLE I NEED TO TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON THEN IS DRIVABLE BUT IT HAS DONE THIS TO ME ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS I'M SCARE WHEN THIS HAPPENS I NEED TO STOP AND IN THE HIGHWAY EVERYONE IS DRIVING HIGH SPEED I DONT HAVE TIME BECAUSE I CANT EVEN TURN THE WHEEL BECAUSE IT GETS VERY HARD AND IT HAS HAPPEND TO ME COUPLE OF TIMES
WATER LEAKING FROM HEADLINER ONTO THE RADIO/CD PLAYER CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT. SEATS & FLOOR RUG GETS FLOODED EVERY TIME IT RAINS. IS THERE A RECALL FOR WATER LEAKING INTO THE CAR EVERY TIME IT RAINS. THIS 2013 EXPLORER DOESN'T HAVE A SUNROOF BY THE WAY. IT'S PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY ON FLAT SURFACE WHEN LEAKING WHEN RAINING.I CAN'T DRIVE WHEN RAINING BECAUSE OF WATER DRIPPING ON TO THE DASH BOARD RIGHT OVER THE RADIO/CD PLAYER.

THE CONTACT WAS LATER INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V675000 (SUSPENSION). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I RECEIVED NOTICE ABOUT A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY BALL JOINT SUSPENSIONS FOR MY VEHICLE. ACTUALLY TWO NOTICES FROM FORD. I SCHEDULED MY VEHICLE FOR RECALL SERVICE AND APPARENTLY MY VEHICLE VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. YOU CAN LITERALLY HEAR MY BALL JOINTS KNOCKING EVERY TIME I MAKE A TURN. EVEN THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT MY BALL JOINTS WERE HORRIBLE BUT HIS HANDS WERE TIED BECAUSE MY VIN DID NOT POP UP IN HIS SYSTEM WITH THE RECALL. HOW IS IT I GET NOT ONE BUT TWO NOTICES FOR THE SAFETY RECALL AND NOW MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE COMPANY RECALL? WHEN AGAIN YOU CAN LITERALLY HEAR THE JOINTS KNOCKING EVERY SINGLE TIME I MAKE A TURN. IS IT REALLY GOING TO TAKE FOR ME TO GET INTO AN ACTUAL ACCIDENT TO HAVE THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED?
THE SEALS FOR THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR FAIL CAUSING WATER TO LEAK INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND DOWN THE BACK SEAT BELTS AND POOLING IN THE SPARE TIRE AREA OF THE TRUNK. THIS ALSO CAUSES MILDEW AND MOLD IN THE CARPETING.
REAR CAMERA KEEPS SHUTTING OFF INTERMITTENTLY DURING REVERSING AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON UNTIL YOU TAKE IT OUT OF REVERSE AND BACK THIS HAPPENS BOTH AT A STAND STILL AND IN REVERSE MOTION.
MY EXPLORER HAS BEEN PARKED FOR A FEW DAYS, AFTER OPENING THE PASSENGER SIDE, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE PUDDLE OF WATER SITTING THERE ON THE FLOOR LINEAR AND ON THE FLOORING ITSELF. I CHECKED THE MOON ROOF, IT WAS CLOSED, NO VISIBLE WATER SO THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE. I CHECKED THE SIDE DOOR AND SEALS, NO ISSUES. I NOTICED THAT WATER WAS FROM THE TOP PART OF THE PASSENGER SIDE INNER FOOTING AREA COMING DOWN SO I CHECKED THE WINDSHIELD AREA. AND AS ASSUMED, WATER WAS CREEPING IN FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA DUE TO BAD CAULKING JOB/DEFECTIVE ENGINEERING CAUSING WATER (RAIN/SNOW, ETC) TO CREEP IN AND SOIL THE ELECTRICAL AREA AND THE FLOORING.
MY ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST KEEPS LOCKING MY STEERING WHEEL, AND MY STEERING WHEEL IS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS MADE AFTER THERE RECALL DATES IT WILL NOT BE COVERED TO FIX. YET IT IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALLED VEHICLES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL WAS SENT IN ERROR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,488.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE STATED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE LOCAL DEALER ED KOEHN FORD OF WAYLAND (1159 W SUPERIOR ST, WAYLAND, MI 49348, (269) 792-2205) AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED HOWEVER, THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED A LETTER WHICH STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTIFICATION LETTER WAS SENT IN ERROR AND THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR HAD TO BE PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I AM A 100% DISABLED VETERAN AND I NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE. PLEASE ADVISE ME OF MY OPTIONS RELATED TO MY SAFETY RECALL. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 19S17/NHTSA RECALL 19V-435 IN JUNE 2019 FOR THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINKS. THE WORK WAS COMPLETED ON JULY 2, 2019. I RECEIVED ANOTHER SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 20S62/NHTSA RECALL 20V-675 FOR THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINKS (SAME ISSUE) IN DEC, RECALL DATED NOV 2020. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR DEC 7, 2020. MY ADVISOR STATED TO ME THAT MY CAR HAD FAILED INSPECTION AND MY VEHICLE WOULD BE KEPT OVERNIGHT. SHE ALSO STATED THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. I WAS TAKEN TO ENTERPRISE TO OBTAIN A RENTAL VEHICLE. I CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS TO EXPLAIN TO THE AGENT MY VEHICLE HAD FAILED INSPECTION AND WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE AGENT STATED THAT FORD HAD CANCELLED THE RECALL AND ONLY CERTAIN MODELS WERE AFFECTED. I WAS STILL PERPLEXED BECAUSE MY VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION. MY ADVISOR SENT ME A TEXT ON DEC 9, 2020 STATING THE ETA IS DEC 11 WHEN THE PART WOULD BE SENT, AND SHE WOULD PROVIDE ME WITH AN UPDATE ON DEC 11, 2020. SHE CALLED ME ON DEC 10 OR DEC 11, 2020 AND STATED THAT FORD HAD CANCELLED THE RECALL AND THAT I COULD PICK UP MY VEHICLE. I TOLD HER I WAS CONFUSED BECAUSE MY VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION. SHE STATED THAT FORD HEADQUARTERS WAS CALLED, AND SHE WAS ALSO CONFUSED AS TO WHY FORD HAD CANCELLED THE RECALL. THE INVOICE NEVER STATED THAT THE PART(S) FAILED ONLY THE RECALL WAS LISTED. IF I HAD NOT PROMPTLY CALLED WHEN I RECEIVED THE SAFETY RECALL I WOULD NEVER HAVE MADE THE APPOINTMENT, NEVER HAD KNOWN THE PART(S) FAILED AND NEVER CONTACTED FORD HEADQUARTERS. IF THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE PART DID NOT FAIL, THEN WHY WAS I PROVIDED A RENTAL FOR A WEEK? ALSO, WHEN I TYPED IN MY VIN ON OWNER.FORD.COM AND NHTSA.GOV ZERO RECALLS CAME UP. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION FOR MY CONCERNS.
VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY HARD TO TURN. WHEN I TRY TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, IT FEELS LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES STUCK IN THAT TURNED POSITION ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HIT THINGS. VEHICLE DRIVES LIKE IT HAS MANUAL STEERING AND NOT POWER STEERING. NO WARNING LIGHTS SO FAR ON DASH. ISSUES HAPPEN DURING DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS.
WATER LEAKING IN THROUGH 3RD ROW DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT, LEAKS DOWN TO POWERFOLD ELECTRICAL WIRING, AND ACCUMULATES UNDER SEAT/CARPET AND INTO SPARE TIRE WELL. THE WATER COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE ELECTRICAL WIRING CAN CAUSE GREAT HARM TO NY CHILDREN WHO SIT BACK THERE. THE WATER ON CARPET CAUSES MOLD AND MILDEW WHICH IS A HAZARD TO OUT HEALTH. THE WATER IN SPARE TIRE WELL CAN CAUSE RUST AND SUBSEQUENT EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER INTO CABIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING COOLANT AND WATER CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO AN UNKNOWN FORD RECALL REGARDING THE WATER PUMP HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, an abnormal grinding sound was coming from the steering wheel while turning in either direction, without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the steering gearbox was defective and that if not replaced, the power steering would fail to operate. Months later, while driving 55 mph, the "service power steering" message appeared on the instrument panel. Upon leaving a bank, the contact started her vehicle, and the "service power steering now" and "lane-keeping system, services required" messages appeared on the instrument panel. Due to the complete loss of power steering, the vehicle was towed to her home. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V286000 (steering) and referred her to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.
MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER EXPERIENCE AND WAS DIAGNOSED BY A FORD DEALER AS HAVING THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AS LIKE VEHICLES COVERED BY NHTSA CAMPAIGN NHTSA 14V286000. THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING AND A STEERING ASSIST FAILURE WARNING OCCURS WHILE MOVING. MY VEHICLE IS NOT WITHIN THE SAME MFG DATE RANGE AS THE VEHICLES COVER IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER IS THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL, AND THE SAME PART IS DEFECTIVE.
THERE'S A POPPING SOUND WHEN I HIT A BUMP AND MAKE TURNS. IN ADDITION TO THAT IT STARTED SOUNDING LIKE METAL GRINDING AND WHILE DRIVING MY EXPLORER HAD A BOUNCE AND WOULD SWAY WHEN HITTING BUMPS AND TAKING CURVES. A VERY UNSAFE AND SCARY FEELING. IT'S MAINLY IN THE FRONT BUT THE REAR END MAKES CRACKING SOUNDS ALSO. IT'S WORRISOME.THE POPPING OCCURRES AS SOON AS I TURN THE WHEEL AFTER I START IT. THE SWAYING AND BOUNCING HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY.I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NOVEMBER 2020, AND NOTICED IT A DAY OR TWO AFTER WHEN IT WAS TO LATE TO RETURN TO CAR LOT.

(903 OLD RTE 66 N, LITCHFIELD, IL 62056) WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THE RACK AND PINON NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MANUFACTURER. WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
POWER ASSIST FAILED, FORD REPAIRED BUT CHARGED ME $2,100. TOLD NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL FOR SAME PROBLEM
I MOTHER OF 3 (15, 13 & 11) & WIFE GOT INTO A MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT ON NOVEMBER 17TH, 2020 AT ABOUT 8:10AM DRIVING SOUTH ON THE WHITESTONE EXPRESSWAY SOUTH A HIGHLY TRAFFICKED HIGHWAY WITH 4 DRIVING LANES. POLICE REPORT NO. 2020-109-2709. I EXPLAINED TO ALL INSTANCES INCLUDING POLICE, PARAMEDICS, TOW COMPANY, CAR INSURANCE, FORD AUTO DEALER, REPAIRING SHOP, ETC. THAT MY CAR SIMPLY FAILED ME. I SUDDENLY LOST 100% CONTROL OF THE DIRECTION OF THE CAR AND I WAS FORCED INTO INVADING ALL THE LANES TO MY LEFT AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FAR-RIGHT SIDE. I AM AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER FOR OVER 30 YEARS I WAS TOTALLY AWARE AND FOCUSED ON REGAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WAS SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE, THE CAR SPUN OUT AND I GOT EVENTUALLY HIT ON THE BACK REALLY STRONG. THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS ISSUED SEVERAL RECALLS RELATED TO THE MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE REAR TOE LINKS THAT INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. THIS REPAIR WAS PERFORMED TO MY CAR AN EXPLORER BY THE STAMFORD FORD LINCOLN SFL ON AUGUST 11TH, 2020 BUT THE MOST RECENT RECALL I FOUND OUT JUST YESTERDAY NOV 23RD THAT WAS ISSUED ON OCTOBER 30TH, 2020 (NO COMMUNICATION WAS SENT TO ME BY EITHER THE AGENCY OR THE FORD MOTOR CORPORATION). IT IS MY CIVIL DUTY TO COMMUNICATE THIS TO THE COMMUNITY TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING TO OTHERS, ANYONE THAT OWNS A FORD EXPLORER 2013-2017 COULD DIE AT ANY TIME FOR THIS ONGOING UNRESOLVED ISSUE BY FORD. EVERY FAMILY DESERVES TO DRIVE A SAFE CAR. PRESENTLY, I AM RUNNING THE RISK THAT MY CAR GETS TOTALED BY THE CONCLUSIONS OF THE STAMFORD BODY REPAIR SHOP THAT WORKS ALONG WITH THE SFL IN WHICH CASE I SIMPLY MIGHT NEVER GET THE EXPLANATIONS THAT I DESERVE FOR THE MECHANICAL FAILURE AND I WILL BE ALSO LOSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN THE NEED TO GET A SAFE CAR TO DRIVE FOR MY FAMILY. REQUESTING KINDLY YOUR HELP TO INVESTIGATE THIS FURTHER. DMV CT MENTIONED I SHOULD SEEK YOUR HELP ON THE MATTER.

My vehicle was originally recalled for Recall 20S62. I received the letter in November 2020, I took my vehicle to Wayland Ford. They confirmed my car did need to be repaired but also needed additional six inch bolts as well. I reached out several times to the dealer, they were waiting for parts due to COVID and supplier shortage in materials. In February I called back- Wayland Ford informed me I should have received a letter from Ford Motor which I did in Dec 2020 indicating my car did not need to be repaired. I did file a case with Ford Customer Care CAS30091178 for this very recall. There was nothing she could do, Ford is knowingly letting customers drive defective cars and Ford has chosen to do nothing to cast a wider net to make sure they have contained the defect therefore I am submitting a complaint.
MY FORD EXPLORER STEERING FAULT WARNINGS CAME ON AND HAD TO TOW IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. NOW I HAVE TO PAY 2800.00 TO FIX IT, SAW A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE BUT DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THAT NO RECALLS ARE ON MY VEHICLE. SO MANY FORD EXPLORERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, AFTER PAYING SO MUCH FOR VEHICLE AND NOW HAVING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX IT.
WHEN SHIFTING TO REVERSE FROM PARK WHILE STATIONARY, THE BACK-UP CAMERA DOES NOT ALWAYS ACTIVATE/COME ON SCREEN. WHEN SUCH INSTANCES OCCUR, AFTER REPEATED RE-SHIFTS, A MESSAGE DISPLAYS TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE.
I WAS ON THE STREET TURNING LEFT AND I LEFT MY VEHICLE SLOW THE SPEED AND THE WHEE GOT REALLY HARD. I WAS ABOUT TO BE IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME ANYMORE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO ANYMORE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 180,000. INVALID VIN.
