WHEN ACCELERATING, EXHAUST/GAS FUMES EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENT SYSTEM. FUMES ARE MORE PROFOUND IN THE REAR, INSIDE VEHICLE. WHEN VENT/CLIMATE SYSTEM IS OFF, NO FUMES. SEEMS TO BE MORE PROFOUND WHEN AC IS OPERATING, NEVERTHELESS THE FUMES ACCUMULATE TO THE REAR. STARTED NOTICING ON 11/8/2014 AND HAS WORSENED EACH DAY SINCE. DEALER APPOINTMENT MADE FOR 11/12/2014.
PAINT CORROSION/BUBBLING ON EDGE OF ALUMINUM HOOD. FORD WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY. COST TO FIX ISSUE IS APPROXIMATELY $500-$750. CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING ISSUE DURING PAINT PROCESS WITH THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS.
AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT- I HAD JUST LEFT THE DEALERSHIP FROM HAVING AN INSPECTION, OIL CHANGE, AND TIRE ROTATION WHEN THE BRAKES ON THE EXPLORER LOCKED UP. I PULLED OVER TO FIND THE RIM AND TIRE EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH. I HAD PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE AT LEAST TWICE IN PRIOR, BUT SEPARATE INCIDENTS. EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE ISSUE BY CLEANING OUT CORROSION AND LUBRICATING THE CALIPER. I THINK THAT ITS ABOUT TIME THEY REPLACED THE CALIPER- AFTER ALL ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
UPON ACCELERATION, THE 2013 FORD EXPLORER RELEASES EXHAUST INTO THE CABIN. *TR
UNDER STRAIN WITH AIR CONDITIONING IN RECYCLE MODE THE EXHAUST FUMES FILL THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IN MAY 2016 THE DEALER PREFORMED TSB 14.0130 REPROGRAMMING OF THE HVAC MODULE. REPLACED AIR EXTRACTORS AND REAR FENDER MOULDINGS. RETESTED IT AND SAID IT WAS OK. AFTER DOING THEIR REPAIR IT DID HELP SOME BUT IT HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM.
DOOR SENSOR KEEPS BEEPING INFORMING ME THE DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED,, WHEN THEY ARE. ANNOYING BEEPING CONTINUES WHEN DRIVING EVERY TIME I STEP ON THE BRAKES. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR OVER A MONTH NOW. *TR
ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, I HAVE SMELLED EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE MY VEHICLE UPON ACCELERATION. IT HAS GAVE ME A HEADACHE AND HAS MADE ME FEEL NAUSEOUS. MY CHILDREN HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS I HAVE. *TR
THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ONCE IN THE PAST, I WOULD GUESS ABOUT A YEAR AGO, AND IT HAPPENED TWICE ON THE 25TH OF SEPTEMBER. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR, THE BRAKES WORK BUT THE CAR ENGINE DOESN'T RESPOND - THAT IS THE RPM OF THE ENGINE REMAINS CONSTANT AND DOESN'T SLOW DOWN. IT FORCES THE DRIVER TO USE EMERGENCY MEASURES SUCH AS APPLYING GREAT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, USING THE HAND BRAKE AND PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. I RESUMED DRIVING AND THE PROBLEM DID NOT MANIFEST ITSELF. I AM WEARY OF BRINGING THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SAME PROBLEM (WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED TODAY). HAVE OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINED IN THE PAST ABOUT THIS ISSUE? *TR
THE INCIDENT OCCURRED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON 09/25/2014. WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE CAR ACCELERATES SUDDENLY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AT IRREGULAR INTERVALS IN THE PAST (APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES) AND AGAIN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WHEN I WAS PARKING THE CAR. I NEARLY RAN OVER A PARKING ATTENDANT. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO KEMP FORD IN THOUSAND OAKS, CA. WHERE THE SERVICE MANAGER ([XXX]) RAN A DIAGNOSTIC ON ONE OF THE MODULE THAT REGULATES THE CAR SPEED - WITHOUT SUCCESS. HE WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM WHICH IS UNPREDICTABLE. WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AND WONDER WHAT RECOURSE WE MAY HAVE AT THIS POINT IN TIME. HERE'S MAINTENANCE JULY 7,2104 FRONT WHEEL BEARING AUGUST 6,2014 THE MOLDING CAME OFF WINDSHIELD PASSENGER SIDE WHILE DRIVING & THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS LOOSE. SEPTEMBER 23,2014 ROLLING BACKWARDS WHILE IN PARK. WE ALSO HAVE A PICTURE OF THE WARNING SHIFT TO PARK. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER TWO YEARS AGO. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000 MILES. ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2014 I COULDN'T START MY CAR. I HAD THE AUTO CLUB JUMP THE BATTERY AND THEN TOOK IT IN IMMEDIATELY TO MY MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. UPON EXAMINATION, HE DETERMINED THAT THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL HAD EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND THE CORROSION WAS SO BAD THAT THE BATTERY CLAMP HAD TOTALLY ERODED. THIS REQUIRED NOT ONLY REPLACEMENT OF THE BATTERY BUT THE BATTERY CABLES. THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THE ENTIRE CABLING MECHANISM WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $400 AND THAT THE LABOR WOULD BE EXTENSIVE BECAUSE OF THE WAY FORD ENGINEERED THE CONNECTION. (THE MECHANIC HAD TO DISASSEMBLE VARIOUS COMPONENTS IN THE ENGINE AREA TO MAKE THE CONNECTION). THE ENTIRE COST OF REPLACING THE BATTERY WAS OVER $1,000. ALSO, I WAS INFORMED THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE MECHANIC ALSO TOLD ME HE BECAME AWARE OF OTHERS WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IN ONE CASE THE BATTERY EXPLODED. THANKFULLY THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN MY CASE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL EXPLORERS OVER THE YEARS AS WELL AS OTHER MAKES AND MODELS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A BATTERY THAT CORRODED TO THIS EXTENT AND CERTAINLY NOT IN A VEHICLE JUST 2 YEARS OLD. I MAINTAIN MY VEHICLE REGULARLY AND WAS SHOCKED THAT THIS HAD OCCURRED. I WONDER IF FORD HAS DESIGNED THIS ENTIRE BATTERY FAILURE AND CONFIGURATION SO AS TO CREATE MORE REPAIR BUSINESS. WHILE NO INJURY OCCURRED WITH ME, IT IS PERHAPS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE DOES ENCOUNTER A DANGEROUS SITUATION. . *TR
HEAR A THUNK WHEN CHASSIS UNDER CERTAIN STRESS. DEALERSHIP REPORTS IT IS LIKELY BODY SUPPORTS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT (DRIVERS DOOR) INDICATES ON DASH AND BEEPS EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON MAKING IT HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER LEAVING VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES THINKING THE DOOR IS OPEN, RUNNING DOWN BATTERY. VEHICLE'S ALARM SYSTEM ACTIVATES CONTINUOUSLY AS IT THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN. VEHICLE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND FORD DEALER REPLACED LEFT FRONT DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY PART # DG1Z-5421813-A. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHETHER ON HIGHWAY OR CITY STREETS MY REAR BRAKES KEEP DRAGGING CAUSING SMOKING HOT BURNING METAL SMELL . THIS STARTED BACK ON 09/09/2014 AND HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES SINCE. ACTUALLY IT HAPPENED MORE THAN 7 BUT I ONLY HAVE DOCUMENTATION FOR 7. IT WAS HAPPENING SO MUCH BUT INTERMITTENTLY SO I BOUGHT A INFRARED GUN TO MEASURE THE HOT BRAKES. THE HIGHEST TEMPS RECORDED WAS 505 DEGREES. TWICE THE SQUEALING AND SCREECHING AND CRACKING SOUNDS OF METAL TO METAL WAS SO LOUD THAT I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE AND HAD TO TAKE IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. TWICE THE BRAKES WENT DOWN TO BARE METAL WHERE EVERYTHING HAD TO BE REPLACE. THE OTHER TIMES I WAS ABLE TO CATCH IT BEFORE THAT BUT STILL HOW MUCH BRAKE WAS WORN OFF I COULDN'T KNOW. TWICE THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED CALIPERS , TWICE THEY REPAIRED RESTRICTIONS IN BRAKE HOSES TWICE THEY CLAIMED THE SLIDES WERE RUSTING UP AND HAD TO BE CLEANED ( NOT UNDER WARRANTY ) AND THE BRAKES WERE ONLY ABOUT A YEAR OLD WHEN THEY SAID THE SLIDES WERE RUSTED.THREE SETS OF BRAKES WERE INSTALLED. I AM NOT HARD ON BRAKES AS I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL BRAKES ON THE FRONT. SOMETHING HAS CHANGED WITH FORDS DESIGN OF THESE BRAKES THAT'S CAUSING THIS . I HAVE OWNED A FORD EXPLORER FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS AND NEVER ENCOUNTER THIS PROBLEM NOR HAVE I HAD TO CLEAN THE SLIDES BETWEEN BRAKE JOBS. HOPE YOU CAN HELP AS I FEEL THE NEXT TIME THE BRAKES MAY FAIL COMPLETELY ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING ALL THE TRAUMA MY BRAKE SYSTEM AS GONE THROUGH SO FAR.
I PURCHASED A USED 2013 FORD EXPLORER ONE WEEK AGO. WHEN PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE REALLY BAD AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO COAST INTO MY NEIGHBORS DRIVEWAY AND THROUGH MY YARD. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. MIND YOU, MY HUSBAND EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING WHEN HE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP BUT WHEN HE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK. THINKING IT WAS RELATED TO MY HUSBAND'S EXPERIENCE, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE OK UNTIL I TRIED LEAVING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE SHOOK REALLY BAD AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I AGAIN COASTED INTO MY NEIGHBORS DRIVEWAY AND THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO TOW IT IN TO SERVICE. IT IS GOING ON DAY 3 OF THE WORK WEEK AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT LOOKED AT IT. REALLY NOT A GOOD SIGN SEEING AS THOUGH WE LITERALLY JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I'M GLAD IT HAPPENED LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THERE WAS SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT TWO PASSENGERS BECAME SICK DUE TO THE SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE SEAMS IN THE FRAME THAT NEEDED TO BE CLOSED. IN ADDITION, THE VENTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE AIR CONDITIONING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT MORE SEAMS NEEDED TO BE CLOSED AND VENTS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SENSOR FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY, AND THE INTERNAL LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE CHIME SOUNDED EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE DOOR MAY BE OPEN WHEN IT WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ONE DEALER TWICE AND THE SENSORS WERE CLEANED. WITHIN A YEAR OF THE FIRST REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE DEALER CLEANED OR REPLACED THE SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE FIRST DEALER AGAIN AND THEN A SECOND DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
MY AIR CONDITIONER JUST STOPS WORKING WILL DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP OVER 5 TIMES. THEY SAY IT WORKS FINE EACH TIME I GO. FINALLY ONE DAY WHEN IT WAS OUT I DROVE UP TO FORD AND MADE THE SERVICE MANAGER GO FOR A RIDE WITH ME. HE AGREED THE AC WAS NOT WORKING. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND BEING FIXED, HOPEFULLY! *TR
VEHICLE IS SHOWING 75 TO 100 PPM OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CABIN. FIRE DEPT CO2 METER SHOWED THIS IN THE VEHICLE. WAS TOLD NOT TO OPERATE VEHICLE DUE TO HIGH LEVELS OF CO2. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (4/13) WE NOTICED A BURNING ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN DURING HARD ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURS WHEN PASSING, TOWING AND DRIVING UP STEEPER GRADES. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL DEALER AND WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. TODAY THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALER FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND I AM BEING TOLD AGAIN THAT THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE, THIS AFTER I TOOK A TECHNICIAN FOR A RIDE AND SHOWED HIM HOW TO REPRODUCE IT. A DIFFERENT TECHNICIAN CALLED AND ASKED A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT I RUN THE A/C AND WHAT THE SMELL WAS. AFTER READING ABOUT MANY SIMILAR ISSUE MY NEXT STEP WILL BE TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR VENTS WERE SUCKING THE EXCESS EXHAUST FUMES THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
DURING HEAVY ACCELERATION ... FOR EXAMPLE WHEN I'M ENTERING A HIGHWAY... REALLY STRONG SMELL OF ENGINE FUMES ENTER THE CABIN... EVERY TIME. I HAVE A 2013 FORD EXPLORER XLT - VERY HAPPY WITH MY FORD OTHERWISE.
WHEN I SHIFT INTO PARK, THE COMPUTER STARTS PEEPING AND TELLING ME TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE DASH SAYS ITS IN PARK, AND IT WONT GO ANY FURTHER, BUT IT WON'T STOP BEEPING TILL I MESS WITH PUTTING IT IN AND OUT OF PARK SEVERAL TIMES. I USE MY PARKING BRAKE "ALL" THE TIME BECAUSE I CAN'T TRUST THAT IT IS REALLY IN PARK OR NOT. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER THEY SAID THEY HAD A COUPLE IN THE SHOP THAT WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WERE REPLACING SOMETHING ON IT AND IF IT SOLVED THE PROBLEM, THEY'D LET ME KNOW. I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING AND AM STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE AUTHORIZED DEALER REPLACED THE AIR EXTRACTOR BY THE REAR BUMPER. HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND THE MOLDING AROUND MY WINDSHIELD JUST FLEW OFF. *TR
ON 16 JULY 2014, I WAS DRIVING AND MY VEHICLE JUST STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT, FORD CLAIMS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY DEVICE TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE FOR PEOPLE AND THEIR LIVES. I COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN HURT OR CAUSED A SERIOUS TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IF I WAS ON A DIFFERENT ROAD OR ON THE INTERSTATE. FORD CLAIMS THAT BECAUSE OF THE GRILLE DESIGN THAT THEY HAVE ONT HE VEHICLE IT CAUSES MAJOR ISSUES TO THE AIR CONDENSOR AND TRANSMISSION COOLER, BECAUSE ANY AND EVERYTHING...DEBRIS, ROCKS, INSECTS, BIRDS... CAN CAUSE THE CONDENSOR/COOLER TO BE DAMAGED WHICH WILL CAUSE THE CUSTOMER TO HAVE TO CONSTANTLY PAY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND MAKING A SHARP LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
I'VE NOTICED THIS SMELL EVERY TIME I TURNED MY CAR ON/OFF OR WOULD GET FINISHED DRIVING. IT WOULD BE IN THE DRIVERS CABIN DOWN AT THE FLOOR WHERE IT CAME FROM. I FIRST NOTICED IT THERE AND HAD MENTIONED IT TO FORD WHEN THERE FOR SERVICE. IT SMELLS LIKE A NATURAL GAS ( LIKE AT HOME ) LEAK. I'D SMELL IT IF HE AIR OR HEAT WAS ON BRINGING IT INTO THE CABIN. THE SAME SMELL WOULD BE PRESENT WHEN I STOPPED DRIVING AND WOULD OP N THE DOOR. SMELLED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL AREA. IT PERSISTED FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS. I'VE TOLD FORD MANY TIMES BUT THEY SAY THERE'S NO RECALL. OR THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF ITS MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. AT THE TIME IN 2014, WHEN I REALLY TOOK NOTICE, MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I BOUGHT MY CAR OUT OF ITS LEASE IN 6 OR7/2016 AND THERE WERE REPORTS OF EXHAUST ISSUES WITH PEOPLE HAVING A SMELL ON THE CABIN. AND THAT THE EXHAUST WASN'T A PROBLEM. I THOUGHT I HAD ROADKILL ROTTING UNDER MY CAR, BUT AFTER NUMEROUS UNDER CARRIAGE CAR WASHES AND THEEE YEARS LATER, THE CAR STILL HAS THAT NATURAL GAS SMELL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THIS HAPPENS VIRTUALLY EVERY TIME I ENTER A HIGHWAY. EXHAUST SMELL LEAKS INTO THE CABIN FROM WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE REAR EXHAUST. THERE IS A FOUL SMELL IN THE VEHICLE, MAYBE BURNING PLASTIC ON THE VEHICLE OR EXHAUST. THE FUMES GETS INSIDE THE VEHICLE THAT CAN MAKE IT UNBEARABLE WHEN YOU HAVE THE AC ON. UPON HEAVY ACCELERATION I SMELL A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL. IT IS SO BAD I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN ALL WINDOWS AND AIR OUT CABIN. I HAVE A 2013 FORD EXPLORER ECOBOOST. TODAY (APRIL 19, 2014), I WAS ON HIGHWAY 280 SOUTH HEADING TOWARDS SAN JOSE AND MY CAR DECELERATED TWICE. 1. MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER (LIMITED) SPONTANEOUSLY LOCKED WHILE MY 9 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR WITH THE KEYS. MY WIFE HAD JUST PUT MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH HER PURSE, WHICH HAD THE VEHICLE KEYS INSIDE. AFTER SHE CLOSED THE DOOR TO WALK TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE, THE VEHICLE LOCKED, AND WOULD NOT OPEN. ALL PUBLISHED VEHICLE OWNER'S MANUALS/DOCUMENTATION CLEARLY STATE THAT THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. FURTHER, THE VEHICLE HAS BUILT IN MECHANISMS TO SAFEGUARD AGAINST THIS SCENARIO WHICH ALSO FAILED. WITH THE KEYS IN THE VICINITY OF THE CAR, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. NOTHING WE TRIED WOULD UNLOCK THE CAR. WE LIVE IN A HOT CLIMATE, SO THE CAR WAS WELL OVER 120 DEGREES. WE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO BREAK IN (BROKEN WINDOW, AND DOOR). AFTER BRINGING THIS UP WITH FORD, THEY'VE DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT, OR RESPONSIBILITY TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER, AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I WAS LUCKY HELP WAS CLOSE BY, HOWEVER, UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FAR MORE TRAGIC. *JS
