Gas filler neck is loose, making it difficult to fill the gas tank without spillage. I don't recall how long this has been an issue, but it has been a problem for multiple years. There have been no incidents that preceded this problem.
On June 14, we drove our 2016 Ford Explorer from Tallahassee, FL to Boone, NC without issue. However, on [XXX], upon starting the vehicle, we noticed a gasoline smell. Concerned for our safety, we checked the car before leaving the neighborhood and discovered fuel pouring from the front. We parked the vehicle in a safe location and coordinated a tow to the local Ford dealership and were informed our fuel line had ruptured. The vehicle had 41,000 miles at the time of the incident. We were not given a clear explanation for the fuel line rupture, leaving us apprehensive about the safety and reliability of Ford vehicles. The ordeal cost $4,000 in repairs, and the service experience made us feel taken advantage of after we were routinely asked if we were local. Our Ford mechanic in Tallahassee later mentioned that labor charged by the Boone dealership seemed excessive. Additionally, they refused to replace the gasoline-covered cabin air filter and engine cover, raising further concerns about the service provided. The rupture of the fuel line posed a severe safety risk as it could have led to a fire or explosion, endangering the lives of the occupants and others nearby. The problem has not been reproduced but was confirmed by the local Ford dealership. No inspections have been conducted by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives to our knowledge. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Our gas tank was nearly full the morning of June 17, and it was empty when we picked it up from the Ford dealership after repairs were completed. Given the serious nature of the fuel line failure, the potential risks involved, and the financial burden of the repairs, we believe this issue warrants a recall investigation to prevent future incidents and to ensure the safety of Ford customers, especially given the multiple recalls already issued and the shared “significant safety concern” shared by the NHTSA on this. My purge valve was stuck open and had strong fuel vapors leaking inside of the car cabin. I became lightheaded and went to the ER. This was before the check engine light came on. It was very concerning.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the vehicle constantly smelled of gasoline. The contact stated that the odor occurred when the vehicle was in motion but was stronger when the vehicle was idle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was not able to properly diagnose the vehicle. The mechanic sealed several locations where the odor might have been coming from. The vehicle was taken to the dealer because the gasoline odor was stronger on the outside of the vehicle. The dealer was not able to determine the cause of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The contact stated that the failure had gotten progressively worse. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000

THE ODOR WAS STRONG THE CONTACT HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
Exhaust leaks into cab under moderate to heavy acceleration with windows closed it is even worse when accelerating with the windows open
PERSISTENT EMISSIONS SMELL IN CABIN CAUSING HEADACHES FOR THE DRIVER. ROESCHE FORD IN ELMHURST ILLINOIS CONDUCTED WARRANTY WORK WHICH CONSISTED OF "REPROGRAMMING" THE CAR. THE FIX DID NOT WORK AND ROESCH FILED AN APPEL TO FORD - WHO IS DENYING LIABILITY AND CLAIMING THE "REPROGRAMMING" IS THE FIX. I HAVE ALSO FILED A CLAIM WITH FORD CAS24714279. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THE POLICE INTERCEPTOR EXPLORERS IS HAVING AND IS WELL DOCUMENTED - FORD HAS EVEN SET UP A HOTLINE FOR THE POLICE - BUT IGNORE THE INDIVIDUAL OWNER.
GAS SMELL OCCUR IN THE CABIN. MAKES ME HEADACHE AND SHICK
FUME SMELL COMING FROM VEHICLE WHILE MOVING, CAN SMELL BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF CAR! SEEMS LIKE SMELL IS MORE IN FRONT OF CAR THEN IN BACK ONCE CAR IS PARKED AND I GET OUT OF CAR. I AM FEELING VERY UNWELL WHILE DRIVING; NAUSEA, DIZZINESS, STINGY EYES AND BLURRY VISION. IT IS HAPPENING REGARDLESS OF THE HEATING/AIR BEING ON/OFF. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON IN THE 2 MONTHS THAT I HAVE HAD THE NEW SUV. I SUSPECTED AFTER I WAS TOLD BY A FRIEND THAT THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY SHERIFFS. I PLUGGED IN MY HOME DETECTOR TO CHECK IF THAT WERE THE CASE. I AM NO LONGER IDLING WITHOUT WINDOWS OPEN IF POSSIBLE DUE TO WEATHER.
MOVING DOWN A HIGHWAY WHEN WITH A SUDDEN SHUTTER AND THEN A LOUD BANG THE CAR IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER WITH BLINDING SMOKE IN AND AROUND THE CAR. MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD FIRE LAPPING UP THE DRIVERS SIDE ROCKER PANEL FROM UNDER THE CAR. TRANSFER CASE EXPLODED WITH SUCH FORCE IT DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION. OCCURRED AT 41,000 MILES ON A THREE YEAR OLD VECHICLE.
I BEGAN TO NOTICE A STRONG GAS FUME SMELL IN THE CAB WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE 'RECALL' REPAIR FOR CO CONCERNS DID NOTHING. I CURRENTLY STILL HAVE THE STRONG SMELL INSIDE CAB.

2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHEN PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE THERE IS A LOUD THUD THEN WHEN PUTTING IT IN DRIVE ANOTHER LOUD THUD THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE I HIT SOMETHING. THEN WHEN TRYING TO GIVE IT GAS IT WILL ACT AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL. THE GAS IS PRESSED BUT WON'T GO AND ENGINE WILL JUST REV. THEN IT WILL START CUTTING OUT AS IF IT IS GOING TO DIE. I CAN ONLY GET UP TO ABOUT 30 MPH DURING THIS TIME. AFTER DRIVING FOR A SHORT TIME IT'S LIKE IT WARMS UP AND WILL QUIT. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND I CAN GO A WEEK OR TWO WITHOUT IT HAPPENING AT ALL. AND WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN IT WILL ONLY HAPPEN IN THE MORNING AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING ALL NIGHT. I STARTED PRESSING ON THE GAS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING (PUSH BUTTON) AND THEN BEFORE PUTTING IN GEAR WILL PRESS ON THE GAS SEVERAL TIMES AND REV THE ENGINE AND THE CUTTING OUT SYMPTOMS WILL NOT HAPPEN HOWEVER THE THUD NOISE HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY STILL.

REMEDYOWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL AND INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO A FORD OR LINCOLN DEALER TO MEASURE THE TORQUE OF THE POWER SEAT TRACK UPPER PIVOT LINK BOLT. IF THE BOLT PASSES THE TORQUE INSPECTION, DEALERS WILL REMOVE AND CLEAN THE BOLT, APPLY NEW THREADLOCK, AND REINSTALL THE BOLT TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE. THIS REPAIR WILL COMPLETE THE FSA. IF THE BOLT FAILS THE TORQUE INSPECTION, THREADLOCK WILL BE ADDED AND THE BOLT WILL BE REINSTALLED AS AN INTERIM REPAIR FOR SOLD UNITS UNTIL THE FINAL REPAIR IS AVAILABLE. UNSOLD UNITS WILL BE HELD UNTIL THE FINAL REPAIR IS COMPLETE. THE FINAL REPAIR WILL INCLUDE REPLACEMENT OF THE LIFT LINK WITH NEW BUSHINGS

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2017 USED WITH 12,000 MILES. ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER I NOTICED AN EXHAUST FUME SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THIS VEHICLE ON A 3.5 HOUR TRIP IN MARCH WITH 3 FRIENDS AND THEY ALL NOTICED IT AS WELL. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS CARS AHEAD OF US WITH BAD EXHAUST SYSTEMS, BUT ON THEY WAY HOME REALIZED AS THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND, IT WAS COMING FROM MY OWN VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE FROM 17,000 MILES TO MY CURRENT 22,000 MILES. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN UNDER HARDER THROTTLE CONDITIONS SUCH AS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. A FEW SECONDS AFTER THIS HARDER THROTTLE APPLICATION, THERE IS A VERY STRONG ODOR OF "SULFUR" SMELLING EXHAUST WHICH FILLS THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP YET AS IT IS NOT ONLY AN INCONVENIENCE, BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, FORD DOES NOT HAVE RESOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS NOW ALMOST CONTINUOUS AND HAPPENS USUALLY SEVERAL TIMES DURING MY 45 MINUTE COMMUTE TO WORK. THE SMELL IS HORRIBLE AND HAS OF LATE STARTED TO MAKE ME FEEL NAUSEOUS AND LIGHT HEADED.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000.
