DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS THE 10TH 4 -WHEEL DRIVE TO HAVE THIS BREAK. *AK
I WAS DRIVING ON HWY 64 NORTH FROM HAMPTON VA. TO ANNANDALE VA. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE WHEN SUDDENLY I HEARD TWO EXPLOSIVE SOUNDS AND IMMEDIATELY REALIZED THERE HAD BEEN A BLOWOUT. I IMMEDIATELY HAD TO LOCK MY ARMS TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND SLOWLY EASED THE CAR TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. UPON GETTING OUT OF THE TRUCK AND VIEWING THE DAMAGE I REALIZED THAT I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I WAS UNINJURED. THE BLOWOUT LEFT TWO HOLES FOUR INCHES IN DIAMETER. THE BLOWOUT WAS AT THE POINT ON THE TIRE WHERE THE TREAD AND THE MAIN BODY OF THE TIRE MEET.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P23575R15 )
UNDER MODERATE ACCELERATION ON I-29 ON-RAMP FROM GATEWAY DRIVE, SWEDGE HOLDING TIRE CRADLE PIECE TO CABLE LET GO RELEASING TIRE CRADLE PIECE AND SPARE TIRE FROM VEHICLE. SPARE TIRE BOUNCED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ON-RAMP INTO THE GRASS. TIRE CRADLE PIECE FELL TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRAFFIC LANE. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO OTHER VEHICLES FOLLOWING AT THE TIME AND NO PERSONAL INJURIES, THE POTENTIAL EXISTED FOR A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH MAY HAVE RESULTED FROM IMPACT WITH THE TIRE. *AK
1997 F-150 REAR WINDOW LEAKING - TOOK IN TWICE DURING WARRANTY AND TOLD THEM ABOUT HEARING WATER IN TRUCK THEM CHECKED DRAIN IN DOOR AND SAID NOTHING WRONG - ONLY HAVE 62000 ON TRUCK SO I DID NOT DRIVE IT MUCH BUT NOW I FOUND WERE WATER WAS COMING IN THROUGH GASKET AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM AND DEALER SHIP ARE HAVING OUTSIDE VENDORS DOING WORK I THINK THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THEY KNEW THIS PROBLEM AND CHANGED DESIGN
CONSUMER NOTICED CRACKS IN LOWER REAR CORNER OF WINDOW FRAME. DEALER/MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND REFUSED TO REPAIR UNLESS COST GOES TO CONSUMER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 30MPH HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT I THEN HEARD A LOUD BANG, WHEN I LOOKED OUT REARVIEW MIRROR I SEEN A ENGINE PART ROLLING DOWN ROAD. VEH LOST POWER STEERING ABILITY. VEH TOWED TO DEALERSHIP (ROY O'BRIEN FORD) DEALER STATED CRANKSHAFT PULLEY &DAMPNER SNAPPED OFF ENGINE DAMAGING BELT TENSION BAR AND FAN. DEALER AND FORD MOTOR REFUSING TO ASSIST!!! TOTAL BILL APPROX 600.00.
FRONT BRAKES BOLT BROKE OFF FROM THE BRAKE CAUSING THE RT. FRT. WHEEL TO LOCK UP UPON BRAKING.
ENGINE BLEW IN 3 YEAR OLD, 60,000 MILE WELL KEPT FORD F150 TRUCK - OUT OF WARRANTY. *AK
I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE FAILURES. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD THEY TOLD ME TO BAD. DT
CONSUMER RECEIVED FORD RECALL #99B29 (REPLACEMENT OF THE PITTED TIMING GEAR COVER WHICH CAUSED COOLANT LEAKAGE), HOWEVER AFTER REPAIR THE ENGINE REQUIRED REPAIR DUE TO SPUN BEARINGS WHICH WAS DIRECTLY CAUSED BY THE COOLANT LEAKAGE. *MJS
FAILURE WAS SUDDEN AND CATASTROPHIC. BY THE TIME I REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THERE WASNT ANY TIRE LEFT. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING VISIBLE ON THE ROAD AND I WAS PAYING ATTENTION AS I WAS PASSING A SEMI. *AK( DOT NUMBER: NOT KNOWN TIRE SIZE: P235/70R16 )

TIE-ROD SNAPPED IN TWO AFTER DRIVER ENGAGED "REVERSE" TO BACK OUT OF A SPACE. DRIVER LOST ALL STEERING CONTROL. VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD DEALER. EMPLOYEE, AND, OR OTHERS COULD HAVE SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY IF PART HAD FAILED WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED AT NORMAL DRIVING SPEED. *AK
A 3/8" LONG CRACK HAS APPEARED IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SKIN NEAR THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER OF THE DOOR'S WINDOW.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE FRAME. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY NOTICED LOSS OF STEERING. DEALER STATED THAT INNER TIE ROD BROKE. A SECOND TIE ROD END WAS FOUND TO BE WORN AND WAS REPLACED ALSO. *AK *ML
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH VEHICLE STRUCK A TELEPHONE POLE, BUT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
GAS PEDAL DROPPED FROM UNDER DRIVERS FOOT TO THE FLOOR AND TRUCK ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL, DOWN SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL BEFORE GAS PEDAL CAME BACK UP. CRUISE CONTROL NOT ON, DEALERS SAID CRUISE CONTROL WAS THE ONLY THING THAT COULD CAUSE THAT KIND OF INCIDENT AND THEY DISCONNECTED IT.
PE00 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65MPH ON HIGHWAYAND HEARD A NOISE.RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. FIRESTONE WILDERNESS #HT P23570R16 . HE HAS CONTACTED FIRESTONE. *AK
BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED JAN 2000. DEVELOPED VIBRATION CHARACTERISTIC OF OUT-OF-BALANCE TIRES. WHEN I HAD THEM BALANCED AND FRONT END CHECKED, ONE TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. VEHICLE STILL HAS SLIGHT VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AND I SUSPECT ANOTHER TIRE MAY BE BECOMINHG SEPARATED. FIRESTONE CLAIMS THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTS OF FAILURES OF THE 16-INCH WILDERNESS HT. CAN THIS BE THE FIRST?( DOT NUMBER: UNKN TIRE SIZE: P235/70R16 )
TREAD CAME OFF TIRE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE WITHOUT DAMAGE. I HAVE SENT THREE E-MAILS TO FORD, THREE E-MAILS TO FIRESTONE AND TWO E-MAILS TO THE DEALER WITH ONLY ONE FORM LETTER REPLY FROM FORD. I STILL HAVE TWO OF THESE TIRES ON MY TRUCK. WHILE DRIVING HEARED A CLICKING NOISE THAT GRADUALLY GOT LOUDER AND LOUDER. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER , AND THEY SAID IT MAY BE THE MOTOR. CONSUMER HAD JUST TAKEN CAR IN A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE FOR RECALL REPAIRS. 2 DAYS LATER, THIS CLICKING NOISE STARTED. *AK
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. CONSUMER STATES THAT BRAKES WILL STOP ONCE THEY ARE PUMPED A FEW TIMES. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. *AK
THE FRONT COVER SEALS AND INTAKE GASKETS FAILED CAUSING ANTI FREEZE TO LEAK INTO THE OIL. *MJS
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD NOTICED THAT BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OUT. ALSO, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, CRUISE CONTROL DIDN'T DISENGAGE. CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *AK

VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FLUID & OVERHEATING. CONSUMER HAD TO PAY $600 FOR REPAIRS. CONSUMER FOUND OUT VEHICLE WAS NOT RECALLED DUE TO VIN. MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT MAKE AN EXCEPTION ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. *AK WATER PUMP FAILED. THE CUSTOMER REQUESTS THE MANUFACTURER TO PAY THE COST OF TIMING COVER GASKET REPLACEMENT AND THE COST OF NEW WATER PUMP INSTALLED. *YH
TIE ROD END SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AT 60MPH. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED MANUFACTURER'S RECALL NOTICE R98S18/REAR SPRING ASSEMBLY: LEAF. RECALL REPAIRS WERE SUPPOSE TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM OCCURRING AGAIN. INSTEAD, REAR SPRING LEAF BROKE. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT CONSUMER HAD DONE IT, AND THAT THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY FOR 12 MONTHS. *AK *ML
RECALL WAS REMEDIED FOR THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, STUDS STILL BROKE IN REAR AXLE WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM EVEN AFTER REMDY OF RECALL. FORD IS NOT WILLING TO ASSIST CONSUMER. *AK THE CONSUMER REPLACED ALL STUDS ON BOTH AXLES. DEALER WAS UNWILLING TO REPLACE THEM, AS THIER DOCMENTATION SHOWED THAT THE LUG NUT RECALL WAS PERFORMED. *YH
DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S DOOR WILL NOT ALIGN CORRECTLY WHEN CLOSING IT. THIS RESULTS IN DOOR REMAINING OPEN, WHICH KEEPS DOME LIGHT ON, DRAINING BATTERY. *AK THE DOOR SWITCHES FOR BOTH DOORS WERE REPLACED. *YH
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 5 MPH TORSION BAR BROKE, THE LEFT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED DOWN ON THE TIRES OF THE TRUCK. IF DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED, IT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *AK *ML
THE TRUCK WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY AT 5:10 A. M. AND WAS NOT RUNNING .IT HAD NOT BEEN USED FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS . SOMEHOW AN ELECTRICAL ARCH OCCURRED AROUND THE STARTER WHICH CAUSED THE TRUCK TO START( NOTE: THE TRUCK IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND WAS IN 1ST GEAR SO IT WOULDN'T MOVE.) WHEN THE ARCH OCURRED , IT AFFECTED THE STARTER WHICH CAUSED THE TRUCK TO CRASH THROUGH THE GARAGE . IT ALSO TOASTED THE STARTER .
DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND REAR CARGO LIGHT WOULD MOMENTARILY STAY ON AFTER CLOSING THE VEHICLE DOORS FROM 1/2 HOURS UP 2 HOURS BEFORE TURNING ITSELF OFF. DEALER NOTIFIED. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
CRACKS HAD DEVELOPED IN THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S & PASSENGER'S SIDE DOORS. THE CRACKS ARE SLOWLY GETTING WORSE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP & WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC NOTHING COULD BE DONE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 10 MILES AND STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, HE HEARD A LOUD BANING.. GOT OUT OF THE CAR, AND FRONT LEFT SIDE DROPPED OUT. *AK.ET.
THERE WAS ONE FAILURE ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND ONE FAILURE ON THE LEFT AFTER COLD WEATHER. THE FAILURES WERE WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. *AK
I HAD COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION ON ONE FRONT TIRE AND THE BEGINNINGS OF TREAD SEPARATION ON THE OTHER FRONT TIRE ON 02/15/00 WHILE TRAAVELING WEST ON I-30 TO DALLAS, TEXAS. THE FOLLOWING DAY BOTH TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AT MY EXPENSE. JOE CAMBELL THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOOK ME BACK WHEN THE TRUCK WAS UP ON THE RACK AND SHOWED ME THE TIRES. HE SAID, "BOY, YOU WERE DRIVING ON AIR THE LAST 20 MILES! I AM SURPRISED YOU DIDN'T DIE IN A CRASH FROM A BLOW-OUT." *AK( DOT NUMBER: 027471 TIRE SIZE: P235/70R16 )

WHEN IN NEUTRAL AND COASTING DOWN A HILL, DRIVELINE RATTLES OVER BUMPS. DRIVELINE CLUNKS ON ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION. CONTACTED DEALER. SERVICE MANAGER CHECKED THE BULLETINS, FORD CLAIMS THAT IT WILL NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO ANYTHING IN THE DRIVELINE. PRIVATE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT WILL OVER TIME. *AK *ML
OUTER DOOR PANEL ON DRIVERS SIDE IS CRACKED NEXT TO WINDOW TRIM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY SMELLED A BURNING WIRE ODOR. WENT TO START UP VEHICLE IN THE MORNING, AND NO HEADLIGHTS. CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS NEVER THROWN. CONTACTED DEALER, AND HE REPAIRED AND REPLACED HEADLIGHT SWITCH. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SMELLED A BURNING WIRE ODOR. WENT TO START UP IN THE MORNING AND VEHICLE HAD NO HEADLIGHTS. *AK
WHILE PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY TORSION BAR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE BROKE. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. TORSION BAR HAS BEEN REPLACED. *AK *ML
THE VEHICLE IS THREE YEARS OLD, AND HAS APROBLEM IS WITH ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. WHEN CONSUMER DRIVES VEHICLE SHAKES. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM GRABS, AND THE ROTORS ARE WARPED. *AK
DOME LIGHTS AND THE CARGO LIGHTS REMAINED ON AT ALL TIMES. DOOR AJAR LIGHT ALSO REMAINED ON. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP.RELAY SWITCH OVERHEATED, AND WAS REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE & PASSENGER SIDE DOORS ON MY PICK-UP TRUCK ARE CRACKED, CAUSING IT TO BE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. *AK
