BOTH SIDE MIRRORS WERE "BUBBLED UP" INSIDE THE GLASS (MIRROR WITH TURN SIGNAL INSIDE) TO THE POINT THAT YOU COULD NOT SEE OUT OF THEM TO SAFELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE. DEALER DID AGREE TO REPLACE AT "DEALER COST" (OVER $200). THE PERSON IN THE BODY SHOP WHO REPLACED THE MIRRORS SAID THAT IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT AND SHOULD BE REPLACED FREE. MANAGER WOULD NOT AGREE TO DO THIS. THE NEW MIRRORS WERE OF A TOTALLY DIFFERENT DESIGN TO "CORRECT PREVIOUS FLAWS". WE ALSO OWN ANOTHER 1999 FORD F-150 THAT IS DEVELOPING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE MIRRORS. WHEN CONTACTED FORD REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY UNLESS "THE GOVERNMENT ISSUES A RECALL"*AK
I AM CURIOUS IF ANYONE ELSE HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT IS NORMAL TO REPLACE BALL JOINTS, AND CONTROL ARMS FOR BOTH SIDES AT 57000 MILES.*AK
OUTSIDE SIDEWALL COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM TREAD CAP JUST ABOVE WHITE LETTERS AROUND ENTIRE TIRE. LOOKS LIKE THE RIM AND SIDEWALL COMPLETELY DETACHED .*AK (DOT NUMBER: AP08L95114 TIRESIZE: P23570R16)
WHILE SHIFTING VEHICLE INTO GEAR ALL GEARS WILL BECOME STUCK, AND WILL NOT RELEASE. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
HAD A SPARK PLUG STRIP ITSELF FROM THE HEAD AND DAMAGED THE THREADS ON THE HEAD WHERE THE SPARK PLUG IS SCREWED INTO THE HEAD.
I HAVE A 1999 FORD F-150 PICK-UP WITH 5.4L V-8 ENGINE. IT HAS HAD A OIL LEAK ON THE RIGHTHAND HEADGASKET. FORD REPAIRED THIS PROBLEM, AND IT DOSEN'T SEEM TO BE LEAKING ANY MORE. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS PLAGUED MANY OF THESE TRUCKS.
VEHICLE MAKES A HOWLING NOISE, IT JERKED/ ACCELERATED AND A CLUNK NOISE WHEN LETTING OFF GAS. DEALER ADMITTED THEY HEARD A NOISE. CONSUMER ASKED FOR A NEW REAR END, AND DEALER DENIED THE PART. *AK CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE 2001 MODELS, CONSUMER IS AKSING THAT THE PART BE FIXED OR THE DEALER TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK. *SLC
VEHICLE WAS GOING 65MPH IN MIDDLE LANE OF HIGHWAY WITH VEHICLES ON BOTH SIDES. CONSUMER HAD RADIO ON AND TURNED IT OFF AFTER NOTICING SMOKE COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER HEARD A RATTLING NOISE ,AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED GETTING OVER. CONSUMER OPENED THE DOOR, AND SAW REAR LEFT SIDE RESTING DOWN, AND LEFT REAR TIRE BLOWNOUT. CONSUMER STATED IT HAPPENED SO FAST, DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY SIGN OF A BLOWOUT, CONSUMER OWNS A 19,99 FORD, F150 WITH ORIGINAL TIRES, APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES. TIRE SIZE P23570R16, AND DOT# VN00081RC.*AK *SLC
GLAZING MATERIAL ON BOTH REAR VIEW MIRRORS FAILED. DEALER REPLACED BOTH REAR VIEW MIRRORS. TWO YEARS LATER, BOTH REAR VIEW MIRRORS FAILED AGAIN. *AK
WHILE DECELERATING IN AND APPLYING BRAKES, REAR WHEELS LOST TRACTION AND SKIDED. DRIVER RELEASED BRAKE PEDAL AND REAPPLIED IN AN ATTEMPT TO SLOW DOWN ON EXIT RAMP AND ENTERING CURVE AT APPROX. 40 MPH REAR WHEELS LOST TRACTION AND STARTED TO SKID TO LEFT. DRIVER REGAINED CONTROL. SEVERAL MILES LATER IN HEAVY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND DRIVING AT APPROX. 35-40 MPH DRIVER APPLIED BRAKES TO STOP BEHIND A GROUP OF CARS MAKING PANIC STOP. DRIVER WAS APPROX. 4 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND VEHICLE ON WET PAVEMENT AFTER DRIVING APPROX. 1.5 HOURS ON RAINY ROADS. BRAKES LOCKED TWICE, AND WOULD NOT ALLOW DRIVER TO TURN OUT CAUSING DRIVER TO SKID INTO OTHER VEHICLE.*AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION. WIPERS SOMETIMES COME ON/ GO OFF, AND STOP WHILE IN PROCESS. MOTOR SEEMS TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL SHORT. CONSUMER HAS TO TAKE IT TO DEALER.*AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED, CONSUMER THEN NOTICED THAT BOTH FRONT TIRE TREAD SEPARATED DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF TIRES, TIRES WERE REPLACED. GENERAL, P23585R16.*AK CONSUMER STATED THE SIDEWALLS WERE CRACKED.*SLC
WHILE LOWERING PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE AFTER CHANGING....TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD OFF JACK WHILE PARKING BRAKE ON, IN PARK, 98% OF TRUCK WAS IN GARAGE ON LEVEL CONCRETE, FRONT TIRES ON ONLY SLIGHTLY SLOPED ASPHALT. TRUCK ROLLED 10-12 INCHES BEFORE STOPPING. DANGER OF TOO EASY ROLLOFF AND INADEQUATE PARKING BRAKE.*AK
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT ANY WARNING, CAUSING A COLLISION WITH A PARKED VEHICLE. INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER TO MAKE THIS REPORT WITH NHTSA. *AK CONSUMER STATES STEERING WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING AND ALSO STATES THAT INSURANCE DID NOT INVESTIGATE ACCIDENT CORRECTLY. *SLC
CONSUMER NOTICED A CRACK ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, THIS HAPPENED LAST YEAR, AND ANOTHER DOOR WAS PUT ON. CURRENTLY, IT WAS HAPPENING TO NEW DOOR.*AK
APPROXIMATELY 6:45 P.M. EST ON JUNE 14, 2001 I WAS TRAVELING AT 58 MPH WHEN I DEPLOYED THE CRUISE CONTROL. I PROCEEDED FOR ABOUT 4 MILES WHEN I WENT TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT IT WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I SHUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND IT STILL WOULD NOT COME OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL. AFTER RIDING THE BRAKES FOR A COUPLE OF MILES I MANAGED TO GET OFF AN EXIT OFF OF ROUTE 1 IN CHESTER COUNTY, PA., PULLED THE TRUCK OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND, PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND QUICKLY TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. MUCH SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE OVERHEATED. I PULLED THE FUSE AND RESTARED THE VEHICLE. IT REV'D TO "RED" LINE". I QUICKLY TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO FAULKNER FORD IN CHADDS FORD, PA. THEY FOUND THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE PRESSED AGAINST THE THROTTLE. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS. THE RESPONSE WAS "NO, IT WAS A FLUKE. IT HAPPENED TO BE YOU." I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AFTER THIS HARROWING EXPERIENCE. I AM NOT PLEASED WITH HOW THIS DEALERSHIP HANDLED THIS INCIDENT. *AK
I HAVE A 1999 FORD F-150 THAT LEAKS AROUND THE WINDSHIELD WHEN IT RAINS IT CAUSES THE WIPERS NOT TO WORK THE POWER ACC STAY ON AND THE DOOR CHIME RINGS ONCE THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM THE SWITCH. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VECHILE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR

DISPLAY PANEL ON THE AM/FM CD PLAYER FAILED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH ALL FORD FACTORY RADIOS. CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO PURCHASE A DISPLAY CIRCUIT BOARD, UNFORTUNATELY IT COULD NOT. REPAIR WAS MIN 250.00 AND A TOTAL REPLACEMENT 500.00. *JB
CATALYIC CONVERTER HAD BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. FUEL WAS GOING INTO ENGINE /BURNED THROUGH AND CAUSED A HOLE IN CATAYLIC CONVERTER. NO REMEDY.*AK
VALVE SPRINGS BROKE CAUSING THE LOSS OF PRESSURE AND FUNCTION IN/OF CYLINDER 3 . VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP BEFORE WARRANTY EXP. REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND WAS NOT REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE SPRING (S) WERE FAULTY.*AK
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS TIRES WENT DOWN AND THE SIDEWALLS SEEM TO BE COMING APART. ONE TIRE WAS TURNED IN TO FIRESTONE FOR AN ADJUSTMENT AND THE OTHER IS AT BOB SIGHT FORD AS THE REPORT STATED. I HAVE LEFT THAT TIRE AT THAT DEALERSHIP FOR FUTURE INSPECTION. THE FACTORY-SUPPLIED FLOOR MATS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE AN APPROX. 2 WIDE STRIP ALONG THE SIDE OF THE MAT. ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, THIS STRIP IS ALONG THE REAR PORTION OF THE RH SIDE OF THE MAT AND MAKES AN APPROX. 2 WIDE SQUARE CORNER SEVERAL INCHES BACK FROM THE FRONT EDGE OF THE MAT AND JUST BEHIND THE GAS PEDAL. THE MAT HAS A TENDENCY TO SLIDE FORWARD OVER TIME. IVE NOW HAD 2 INSTANCES OF THIS SQUARE CORNER SLIDING FORWARD AND ENGAGING THE GAS PEDAL, HOLDING IT FULLY DEPRESSED (ACCELERATOR STUCK WIDE OPENENGINE RPM PEGGED WHEN CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED). BOTH OCCURRED IN DENSE, HIGH-SPEED INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. THE FIRST HAD TO BE CLEARED BY REACHING UNDER THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY TOE AND PULLING BACK ON THE PEDAL TO FREE IT. IN THE SECOND, I HAD TO SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND COAST TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE I COULD CLEAR THE PROBLEM, AND WAS FORTUNATELY IN A POSITION IN TRAFFIC TO DO SO. I BELIEVE THIS FLOOR MAT SHAPE IS HAZARDOUS AND THE SHAPE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE MAT SHOULD EITHER BE ALTERED TO PRECLUDE THIS CONDITION, OR THE DRIVERS SIDE MAT SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS CRACKING ON OUTSIDE THROUGH METAL. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER STATED NOTHING COULD BE DONE. DOOR WAS UNDER SHEET METAL. *AK *YH
STEERING GEAR BOX HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
I AM CONCERNED THAT THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY HAS BEEN COMPROMISED BY THIS FACTORY DESIGN DEFECT. I AM CONCERNED THAT IN A CRASH THIS DOOR WILL FAIL TO PROTECT ME, SINCE IT HAS ALREADY CRACKED. I AM STILL AWAITING THE PASS. SIDE TO CRACK AS WELL. ALMOST ALL OF THIS MODEL YEAR AS WELL AS 1997, 1998, AND 2000 ARE CRACKED IN SAME AREA.*AK

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH SWITCHED LANE TO LEFT AND TRIED TO AVOID A VEHICLE IN FRONT, HIT A WALL VERY HARD ON SIDE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, BUT AIR BAG LIGHT HAD BEEN ON FOR LONG TIME.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH AND SWITCHING LANE TO LEFT TRIED TO AVOID A VEHICLE IN FRONT, HIT HARD WALL ON SIDE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED ON.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH BRAKES WENT OUT WHEN TRYING TO STOP. CONSUMER STATED PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR.*AK THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT TWICE. *YH
WHILE PULLING INTO PARKING LOT VEHICLE WAS HARD TO STEER, MECHANIC DETERMINED THE INNER TIE ROD HAD BROKEN. NLM
WE COULD HEAR AND FEEL A "CLUNKING" THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. FOUND THAT THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT WAS BROKEN AND WAS ADVISED TO STOP DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT COULD BE REPAIRED. WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS FAIRLY COMMON WITH THE F150 AND IN FACT THEY HAD THE REQUIRED PART TO FIX IT IN STOCK. THIS TRUCK IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN OFF-ROAD OR INVOLVED IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS TYPE OF FAILURE COULD OCCUR, AND APPARANTLY IS NOT UNCOMMON. THE BREAK WAS APPARANTLY IN A "KNUCKLE" IN THE STEERING SHAFT, WHICH IS WHY WE COULD STILL STEER THE VEHICLE AT ALL.*AK
ALL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT WHILE ON FREEWAY BURNED UP OVERDRIVE AND DRIVE THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY KIND WHEN I SLOWED DOWN IN TRAFFIC AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK WENT NOWHERE. IN ANOTHER SITUATION THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 35MPH VEHICLE WAS HIT ON SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND SPUN AROUND, HITTING A TREE HEAD-ON BY PASSENGER'S SIDE. NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. HAD 1 INJURY AND EMERGENCY ROOM TREATMENT.*AK
WHEN ROLLING UP WINDOW IT PUSHES ON DOOR FRAME AND PRODUCES CRACK ON DOOR HANDLE, BELOW RIGHT WINDOW LOWER PORTION OF VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK *JB
FRONT GAS TANK LEAKS SOME FUEL, THERE IS A RECALL ALREADY FOR THIS PROBLE , BUT THIS VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED. *AK
PROTECTIVE COATING OF SIGNAL MIRRORS LOCATED ON DOORS HAVE DETERIORATED AND CAUSED MIRRORS TO BLACKEN. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED BOTH SIGNAL MIRRORS ONCE ALREADY AND THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING AGAIN. *AIK *SLC
OUR GOOD YEAR TIRES THAT WERE PUT ON THE TRUCK ARE SHOWING TREAD SEPERATION.THE GOOD YEAR MANUFACTURE TOLD US THEY WOULD HAVE US GO TO THE NEAREST GOOD YEAR DEALER AND THEY WOULD PRO RATE THE TIRES...WHY? IT IS THEIR DEFECT NOT OURS. THEY WOULD REPLACE WITH GOOD YEARS...WHY? WE DON'T WANT THEM. WHY SHOULD WE RISK GOING TO ANOTHER TOWN 20-25 MILES FROM HERE TO REPLACE THESE TIRES WITH POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE ONES AGAIN! FOR FOUR YEARS THEY HAVE BEEN COVERING UP LAWSUITS AND HAVING SILENT RECALLS...TO ME...THEY NEED TO REPLACE THEM WITH WHAT WE WANT AND WHERE WE WANT! IT IS OUR LIVES THAT OUR ON THE LINE! NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, NO ONE HAS BEEN HURT THANK GOD. ALL FOUR TIRES SHOW SEPERATION AROUND THE RIMS. WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH UNDER WET/RAINY CONDITIONS CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN WHEN VEHICLE FAILED TO FOLLOW PATH OF ROAD, AND WENT STRAIGHT AHEAD. *AK AS CONDSUMER WAS DRIVING ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH, AND THEN VEHICLE STALLED, NO POWER STEERING AS WELL AS BRAKES FAILED VEHIICLE WENT STRAIGHT INTO A DITCH, CONSUMER SUFFERED INJURIES, CONTACTED DEALER BUT NOT WILLING TO EVEN INSPECT VEHICLE.*JB
LUG NUT PROVIDED FOR ALUMINUM WHEELS DO NOT FIT FLUSH ON THE STEEL RIM, RESULTING IN COMING LOOSE AND VEHICLE WOBBLES AND CONTROL LOST, THIS HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE LUG ARE RETIGHTED.
ENGINE HAS SEVERE KNOCK AT START UP ,AND USES OIL , DEALERSHIP HAS REPEATED TOLD ME THAT THIS IS NOT A ISSUE. OTHER FORD TRUCK OWNERS HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THEIR ENGINES WHERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY , WHILE I HAVE BEEN PUT OFF AND NOW VECHICLE IS OFF WARRANTY.*AK

OIL WAS LEAKING FROM GASKETS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER REPLACED HEAD GASKET. 2500 MILES LATER LEAKING STARTED AGAIN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHEEL RIM BROKE WHILE DRIVING 50MPH. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING OF A PROBLEM. HAD MAINTAINED CONTROL OF VEHICLE, AND PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD.*AK
VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY, RESULTING IN A COLLISION.*AK CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING POORLY DURING WET WEATHER. *SLC
ENGINE CYLINDER IN BACK OF VEHICLE IS LEAKING OIL. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK THE OIL LEAKS ONTO MANIFOLD AND STARTER, STRONG ODOR OF BURNING OIL WAS PRESENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE OIL LEAKS FROM THE RIGHT HAND HEAD GASKET AT THE REAR OF THE BLOCK OR HEAD JOINT WHICH WAS CAUSED BY A METAL CHIP IN WHICH DEBRIS LODGED BETWEEN THE HEAD GASKET AND THE BLOCK. *YH
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A 45 MPH FRONTAL COLLISION IN WHICH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK *SLC
PASSENGER SIDE ENGINE HEAD GASKET OIL LEAKS ARE VERY COMMON ON THESE TRUCKS ACCORDING TO MANY OWNERS ACCOUNTS. THE COST TO REPAIR IS $1200-$1600 DOLLARS! FORD IS NOT WILLING TO HELP AFTER WARRANTY. *AK
