THE TORQUE CONVERTER IN THIS VEHICLE LOCKS UP WITHOUT WARNING. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. THE PROBLEM MANIFESTS WHILE CRUISING AND WHILE AT STOP. WHEN PROBLEM HAPPENS AT STOP, THE CAR WILL LURCH FORWARD AND KILL ENGINE. STOPPING DISTANCE IN INCREASED WHEN EVENT OCCURES DURING CRUISE. INCIDENT OCCURRED AT NEAR PEDESTRIANS AND NEARLY CAUSED COLLISION. INCIDENT OCCURED IN PARKING LOT AND CAUSED SLIGHT BUMBER IMPACT WITH STOP POST. FORD WILL NOT FIX PROBLEM BECAUSE NO ERROR CODES ARE GENERATED BY THE EVENT, AND CANNOT BE DUPLICATED BY DEALER. I AM FORMALLY SEEKING APPROPRIATE REMEDY TO HAVE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. I AM BAFFLED BY FORD'S LACK OF CONCERN AND UNWILLINGNESS TO FIX A LOW COST WARRANTIED COMPONENT. I WILL HAVE UNIT REPARIED BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC IF FORD CONTINUES TO REFUSE. I WILL GLADLY SUBMIT FAILED UNIT TO NHTSA FOR YOUR ANALYSIS. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
THE SMALL SIDE DOOR GLASS (SUPERCAB DOOR) OF PASSENGER SIDE - JUST POPPED AND SHATTERED IN A MILLION PIECES. THE SAFETY GLASS FELL IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE AS IT CRUMBLED. THERE WERE CRYSTALIZED PIECES IN THE SMALL PIECES. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE HOW IT JUST SHATTERED. IT DID NOT APPEAR AS SAFETY GLASS SHOULD. ALSO I CHECKED THE OTHER WINDOW AND THE METAL INSERT THAT IS SUBSET TO THE RUBBERIZED SEAL IS WITHIN 1/8TH AN INCH OF THE GLASS. MY QUESTION/COMMENT/CONCERN/COMPLAINT IS THAT IT APPEARS THAT IN THE NATURAL GIVE AND TAKE OF A VEHICLES TWISTS, ETC. THAT THE GLASS WOULD COME TO REST AS TIMES ON THIS METAL INSERT AND THEREFORE COULD CAUSE A REDUCTION IN THE INTEGRITY OF THE GLASS. I AM IRRITATED BECAUSE OF THE COST AND WILL ARGUE LIKE HELL WITH FORD TO PAY FOR IT, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF OTHER QUERIES HAVE BEEN MADE BY OTHER FORD OWNERS CONCERNING THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM, AND IF SO, HAS FORD ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ITEM. VIBRATION IN STEERING @ 45-55 MPH. NEW TIRES, BALANCE & ALIGNMENT DIDN'T CORRECT. INNER SIDE OF L. FRONT TIRE CUPPED. DEALER CLAIMS VIBRATION NORMAL FOR A TRUCK BUT PROBLEM NOT PRESENT IN 3 IDENTICAL TRUCKS. DEALER GIVEN 4 CHANCES TO FIX.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED. AS A RESULT DRIVER'S SEAT COLLAPSED, CAUSING SEATBACK TO FALL BACKWARDS. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER CONSTANTLY GETS AN ELECTRIC SHOCK, THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY THE SEAT MATERIAL IN THE VEHICLE. NLM
DRIVER DOOR FRAME HAS A CRACK APPROXIAMATELY 1/2 INCH LONG, RIGHT SIDE OF WINDOW FRAME. CONTINUES TO EXPAND , REPAIRED ONCE, BUT REAPPEARED THE VERY NEXT DAY. DOOR MUST BE REPLACED COMPLETELY. THE INTEGRITY OF THE STRUCTURE HAS BEEN COMPROMISED, IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, DOOR WILL BUCKLE CAUSING SEVERE HARM TO DRIVER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH AND PULLING A TRAILOR, WENT TO APPLY BRAKES, AND LOST POWER ASSIT BRAKES AND POWER STEERING WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
IN MY 2000 F-150 SUPERCAB PICK-UP, WHICH HAS FOUR DOORS AND SEATING FOR SIX (THREE IN THE BACK SEAT), LACK OF REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS, COUPLED WITH A VERY LOW REAR SEAT BACK HEIGHT AND THE VERY CLOSE PROXIMITY OF THE REAR WINDOW (GLASS) TO OCCUPANTS' HEADS MEANS THAT SERIOUS INJURY MAY OCCUR SHOULD THE VEHICLE BE HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. OCCUPANTS' HEADS SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY HEAD RESTRAINTS FROM CONTACTING THE GLASS. THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE COMPELLED TO RETRO-FIT HEAD RESTRAINTS THAT IT HAS CHOSEN TO SUPPLY ON 2001 SUPERCREW MODELS OF THIS SAME PICK-UP, OR SHOULD SUPPLY OWNER RETRO-FITTABLE HEAD RESTRAINTS FOR THE REAR SEAT.

PREMATURE WEAR OF BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. DEALER HAS REPLACED ROTORS TWICE, AND BRAKES STILL SQUEAK WHEN APPLIED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
TIRE IS ACTUALLY WEARING OUT WHILE LAYING AGAINST SUPPORT BRACKET. ALSO, CONSUMER CAN'T CHECK TIRE PRESSURE BECAUSE TIRE IS LAYING AGAINST BRACKET. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER WORE OUT THE SIDE WALL OF THE SPARE TIRE. *YH
THE OF THE VEHICLES FOUR GOODYEAR TIRES HAVE EXPERIENCED SIDEWALL BLOWOUTS, A FEW DAYS AFTER PURCHASED THE FIRST BLOWOUT OCCURED AND WAS REPLACED BY GOODYEAR, AT LEAST ONE OF THE TIRES SPLIT DOWN THE SIDEWALL WHERE THE OVERLAP OF TH PLIES MAKES AN INDENTATION IN THE SIDEWALL, GOODYEAR TOLD THE CUSTOMER THAT THE TIRES ARE FOR STREET USE ONLY, THE CONSUMER LIVES ON A GRAVEL ROAD (GOODYEAR WRANGLER AP 255/70R16),
THE F-150 PICKUP TRUCK IS A DUAL FUEL VEHICLE WHICH WHEN COLD ON NATURAL GAS STALLS ON COOL MORNINGS. *AK
SINCE THE EARLY 1960'S , I HAVE BEEN VERY AWARE OF MANY FORD PRODUCTS THAT THE BRAKE/SYOP LIGHTS FAIL TO ACTIVATE WHEN THE VEHICLE S BRAKES ARE APPLIED TO STOP OR SLOW THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR A LIVING SINCE THE EARLY 60'S AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS TODAY ON MANY FORD PRODUCTS THE SAME AS IT ALWAYS HAS. I HAVE PERSONALLY STOPPED AND TOLD MANY OF THOSE DRIVERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO PREVENT THEM FROM BEING REAR-ENDED DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEHIND THEM NOT BEING ALERTED TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE SLOWING/STOPPING. AT ONE TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH LOCATET UNDER THE DASH THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED. I DO NOT KNOW IF ANY CORRECTIONS WERE EVER MADE TO THAT PROBLEM BUT AS RECENTLY AS THIS WEEK I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING A FORD THAT DID NOT HAVE WORKING BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN IT STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I AM RETIRED FROM THE BELL SYSTEM AND AS A REQUREMENT TO OPERATE A COMPANY MOTOR VEHICLE WE WERE GIVEN TRAINING ANNUALLY CALLED SMITH SYSTEM DEFENSIVE DRIVER TRAINING AND ALONG WITH ALL THE EXCELLENT SKILLS WE WERE TAUGHT WE WERE ALSO TOLD TO NOT FOLLOW A FORD WHENEVER POSSIBLE FOR THE OBVIOUS REASONS JUST STATED. ENTIRE TRUCK STARTS TO SHAKE AT 70 MPH. TIRES HAVE BEEN CHECKED THREE TIMES. FORD SAYS "ALL PICKUPS SHAKE AT SPEED WITH NO LOAD". CHEVROLET AND DODGE BOTH SAY THEIR TRUCKS DON'T SHAKE UNLESS THERE IS A DEFECTIVE TIRE OR SUSPENSION PART.*AK

CONSUMER PURCHASED VEHICLE WITH RECALL TIRES, DEALER REPLACED TIRES WITH UNIROYAL BRAND WHICH DEVELOPED KNOT-LIKE BULGES, FIRESTONE REPLACED ONE WHICH BLEW OUT. *JG ( FIRESTONE TIRES)
WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN CONSUMER'S VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. IT HIT A ROCK. AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BURNING A HOLE ON TOP OF AIR BAGS. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
A LIGHT WAS COMING FROM AIR CONDITIONER VENT. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED FIRE UNDER HOOD. TRIED TO PUT FIRE OUT, BUT FIRE WAS OUT OF CONTROL, AND BURNED VEHICLE TO THE GROUND. INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CALLED. TECHNICIAN STATED FUSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. AK
ENGINE FAILURE
CONSUMER STATED THAT ON TWO OCCASIONS, BRAKES HAVE FAILED THAT RESULTED IN ACCIDENTS, THEY HAVE FAILED ON OTHER OCCASIONS BUT DID NOT RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT, THE DEALER SAID NOTHING IS WRONG BUT NATURE OF ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM AND HE BLAMED IT ON WARPED ROTORS. THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT VIBRATE WHEN PROBLEM OCCURS, WHICH IS CUSTOMARY WITH WARPED ROTORS,. EACH TIME THEY WERE TESTING ABS AT HIGH SPEEDS BUT CONSUMERS PROBLEM OCCURS AT SLOW SPEED. *YD
WHILE DRIVING HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTIONED AND COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. THERE WAS NO WARNING, AND CAUSE WAS UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATON.*AK
WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN VEHICLE HYDROPLANED, HITTING A FENCE AND WENT INTO A DITCH. SEAT BELTS DID NOT TIGHTEN UP. VEHICLE TOTALED,AND PASSENGER WAS INJURED. *AK

A FLAT TIRE WHILE DRIVING, PROCEEDED TO CHANGE FLAT TIRE, AND WITHOUT WARNING RIM WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED. MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO REMOVE RIM. HOWEVER, ADVISED CONSUMER THAT RIM BOLTED TO FRAME OF VEHICLE.*AK
WHAT IS FORD GOING TO DO ABOUT DOOR CRACKS. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING IN OVERDRIVE TO PASS ENGINE WENT INTO NEUTRAL, LOSING 3RD GEAR / OVERDRIVE. FAILURE WAS INTERNAL DUE TO 2 GEARS STRIPPED OUT OF TRANSMISSION WITH ONE NOT GETTING PROPER HEAT TREATMENT. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
FIRST START TO MOVE TRUCK AND TUCH BRAKES WILL ALMOST SEND U THROUGH WINDSHIELD, MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN COLD OUT. HAVE TAKEN OFF AND WENT ABOUT 2 BLOCKS AND WENT TO APPLY BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR.THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICED. FORD COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. TALKED TO OTHER OWNERS THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK
THERE IS CRACK AT DOOR. DEALER STATES THAT CRACK IS THERE BECAUSE OF OPENING AND CLOSING WINDOW. THEY CALL IT A STRESS FRACTURE. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND WANTED CONSUMER TO PAY 10 % TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DOOR CRACK WAS HALF WAY UP THE DOOR FROM BOTTOM OF WINDOW. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A STRESS FRACTURE FROM ROLLING THE WINDOW UP AND DOWN. THE WINDOW MAKES NOISE DUE TO CRACK. THE DOOR CRACK WAS FIXED BUT CRACKED AGAIN. *YH
GROUND WIRE LEADING TO ABS PUMP IS "ROTTEN". PUMP BECAME NONFUNCTIONAL. BRAKES WOULD OPERATE WITH STANDARD PERFORMACE. PLEASE DESCRIIBE DETAILS. *AK

GENERAL P255/70R16--AFTER INSPECTING THE TIRES NOTICED TREAD SEPARATION WHEN TO FIRESTONE AND THEY CONFIRMED THE TREAD SEPARATION---FORD DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ONE TIRE UNDER WARRANTY
DOOR CRACK DEVELOPED IN DOOR ABOUT THREE INCHES UP POST ON BACK SIDE OF GLASS AREA. MOST F-150'S 1997 - 2000 I HAVE LOOKED AT HAVE THE SAME CRACK. FORD CLAIMS NORMAL WEAR BUT HAVE A REPAIR KIT. I CAN'T SEE HOW THIS IS NORMAL SINCE THEY HAVE A REPAIR KIT AND REPLACEMENT DOOR. THIS SHOULD REQUIRE A RECALL, PLEASE INVESTIGATE. DT

THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE SERVICE LIGHT IN THE VEHICLE SINCE THE CONSUMERS FIRST PURCHASED, BUT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND THAT IT WAS FIXED. THERE WERE ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. MR SCC
THE ENGINE RATTLED ON A COLD START, WHICH WAS COMMONLY CALLED A SLAPPED PISTON, A GROUND WIRE WAS REPLACED UNDER THE HOOD, AND A FUSE WAS REPLACED FOR THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER. *PH *JB
