DT: THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START, THE CYLINDER WILL NOT ENGAGE, HAD TO ROLL THE VEHICLE BACKIN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND THEY COULDN'T FIX IF THEY DIDN'T SEE A PROBLEM. CURRENTLY, IT IT HAPPENED 15 TIMES. THIS STARTED TWO WEEKS AFTER CONSUMER BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AROUND APRIL 15, 2005. *AK
VEHICLE PARKED APPROX 4.5 HOURS, WHEN NOTICED VEHICLE HOOD WAS ENGULFED WITH FLAMES, DAMAGE PRIMARILY ON DRIVER'S SIDE TOWARD WINDSHIELD, TOTAL LOSS --- ONE MONTH PRIOR TO VEHICLE FIRE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GET OUT OF PARK AND BLEW 5 AMP FUSE
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED AND THE LIGHTS BLINKED ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL FUSES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LATCH. TOOK TOOLONG LEWIS FORD IN HOOVER, ALABAMA, AND THEY REPLACED THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE UNIT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ENGINE MADE A PING NOISE. IT SOUNDED AS IF SOMETHING BROKE. OWNER CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, AND OWNER WAS INFORMED THAT THE SPARK PLUG EJECTED FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD THAT BECAUSE IT WAS MADE OF ALUMINUM, AND IF THE SPARK PLUGS WERE TIGHTENED TOO MUCH, OR THE SPARK PLUGS WERE CROSS THREADED WHEN INSTALLED THEY WOULD BE EJECTED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 7 HOURS AND IT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. OWNER WAS NOTIFIED BY A COWORKER. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT ON RECALL, AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. *AK *BF *NM
OWNER WENT ON AN ERRAND AND PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR 5 OR 6 MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS NOTICED BY A PASSER BY WHO CONTACTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH RECALL DUE TO VIN, AND THERE WASNOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO.*AK
DT: WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE ENGINE DEPARTMENT WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED WITH FLAMES. THE ENGINE BLEW UP THE TIRES, AND BLEW OUT THE FRONT AND BACK WINDOWS. THE DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DID DAMAGE TO THE YARD, CONSUMER HAD TO RE-SOD, RESEED, AND RECONST THE YARD. THE TOTAL AMOUNT FOR DAMAGE AND LOSS IS $1,000. CONSUMER CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO STORAGE GARAGE.*AK *BF *NM *SB
CONSUMER OF A 2001 FORD F150 WANTS RECALL NOTICES SENT TO THEM INSTEAD OF THEIR NEIGHBOR ( THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE VEHICLE). *MR THE CONSUMER WAS NOT RECIEVING RECALL LETTERS; RECALL CAMPAIGN# 01V082000, 00V396000, 01V227001, 00V348000, 01V095000 AND 01V258000. *SC
WHILE BACKING OUT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COLLAPSED. DRIVER CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER LOWER BALL JOINT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
RECALL CAMPAIGN 01V227001 CONCERNING TRW SEAT BELT BUCKLE. WHEN THE BUCKLE IS LATCHED IT WILL INADVERTENTLY UNLATCH. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2 MILES. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT DUE TO THE VIN THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED. OWNER CHECKED THE VIN IN THE VEHICLE, AND HAS THE CORRECT PLACE AND DATE OF MANUFACTURING, YET THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT HONOR IT. *AK
MID-FEBRUARY 2001 SUPER CREW CRUISE WENT OUT AND I TOOK IT TO KINSEL FORD, AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL.ON MARCH 27 SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE SWICH THAT WAS UNDER THE RECALL( I WAS TOLD THIS BY THE KINSEL REP RESENTATIVE HAD BURNED COMPLETELY IN TWO.I AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER, AND AGAIN WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.*AK
RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V017000 CONCERNING CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH FIRES: VEHICLE WAS PARKED 6-7 HOURS BEFORE IT CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE FIRE MARSHALL INVESTIGATOR INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE FIRE WAS STARTED BY AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH.*AK
CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT FLASHING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE IT ON MY 2001 F150 TRITON 4.6L "3DR". TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS(SPRING BROKE ON 2ND TO 3RD GEAR SHIFTER)INQUIRED ABOUT THE CC LITE. SERVICE TECH POPPED THE HOOD,PULLED THE PLUG ON THE POWER BOOSTERAND WE BOTH SAW FLUID BUILD UP ON THE SURFACE AREA. SAME ST'D THAT THERE WAS A RECALL INPROGRESS BUT THAT HE HAD TO SEE IF THIS MODEL WAS INVOLVED...NOT. 89000PLUS MILES. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR FOUR HOURS WHEN CONSUMER DECIDED TO SWEEP THE GARAGE. UPON ENTERING THE GARAGE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CRUISE CONTROL NHTSA RECALL 05V017000. *AK
AFTER BEING STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION I SLOWLY PULLED AWAY WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. IT SOUNDED AS IF I RAN OVER SOMETHING ,AND THE TRUCK STARTED MAKING LOUD NOISES AND JERKING. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, PARKED IT, AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IN COLUMBUS, OH. THEY SAID IT HAD BLOWN A SPARK PLUG AND STRIPPED THE THREADS IN THE HEAD - IT ONLY HAD 41,000 MILES ON IT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS AND COULD BE DANGEROUS IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. I PAID THE CHARGE TO PUT A HELICOIL IN AS A TEMPORARY FIX UNTIL I CAN BUY A NEW HEAD BECAUSE FORD WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THIS WIDESPREAD PROBLEM.*AK
DRIVER HEARD A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR. PULLED OVER , AND, NOTICED THAT THE SPARE TIRE AND THE CABLE SHEARED OFF ONTO THE GROUND OF THE HIGHWAY. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE TIRE, AND PLACED THE CABLE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO THE DEALER. *AK
ON OR ABOUT MARCH 15, 2005 I GOT INTO MY F150, 2001, FORD PICKUP AND STARTED THE VEHICLE, WHEN IMMEDIATELY SMOKE BEGAN POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THIS WAS IN THE MORNING AT THE START OF MY DAY, AND THE TRUCK HAD BEEN SITTING ALL NIGHT AND THE ENGINE WAS COLD. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD I OBSERVED A RED HOT GLOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AROUND SOME WIRING. AFTER CERTIFIED FORD TECHNICIANS EXAMINED THE TRUCK I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A RESULT OF A DEFECT IN THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WHICH I UNDERSTAND YOUR AGENCY IS INVESTIGATING. THESE REPAIRS COST ME $728.00. AM I ABLE TO RECOUP MY REPAIR COST? *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE VEERED INTO CONSUMER'S LANE. DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL ON HIS OWN. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. *AK
I LEFT MY 2001 F-150 IN A PARKING LOT UNATTENDED WHEN I RETURNED A FEW HOURS LATER IT HAD BEEN ALMOST TOTALLY CONSUMED BY FIRE. WITNESSES SAID THAT IT STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. I HAVE NOT YET RECIEVED THE FIRE COMPANIES REPORT.*AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED. *AK
2001 F-150 SUPERCREW INSTRUMENT AND ACCESSROY FAILURE DUE TO WATER FROM LEAKY SEAL AROUND DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INSTANCE AND IS REFLECTED IN YOUR # 10002639. COST OF REPAIR WAS OVER $800.00 AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND NOT ACKNOWLEDGED BY FORD DEALERSHIP AS DEFECT. VEHICE GEM FAILURE CAUSES LOSS OF WIPER CONTROLS, AND POWER LOCKS CAUSING SAFETY CONCERNS.*AK
MY WIFE AND I WERE VISTING MY PARENTS WHEN WE WERE HEADING HOME. WE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND WHILE PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE SEAT BEATS LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER THIS AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT REPAIR COVER THIS. *AK
(1) THERE WERE NO EVENTS TO LEAD TO FAILURE; (2) THE ENGINE CAM SHAFT SENSOR CONTINUES TO FAIL. THIS WILL BE OUR 5TH TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME SENSOR. EACH TIME, WITHIN 24 HOURS OF IT BEING FIXED THE ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN. WE HAVE SPENT OVER $350 ON THE SAME SENSOR. WE HAVE RECEIVED NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE SENSOR CONTINUES TO FAIL. *AK
TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT MOVE IN REVERSE HAD TO BE TOWED TO TRANSMISSION SHOP TOTAL REBUILD COST OF $2000 SHOP SAID HE SEES 2 A WEEK WITH THIS PROBLEM 2001 FORD F150 46000 MILES AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *JB
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE AND THE GARAGE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE DRIVER CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THEN, VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
THE VEHICLE IS NOT BRAKING PROPERLY. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY.*AK
WHILE PARKED FOR 24 HOURS VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE WAS LOCATED. OWNER WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. *AK
BOTH STEERING BEARINGS (LOCATED IN STEERING COLUMN INSIDE TRUCK CAB) COMPLETELY WORE OUT, STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE. 2001 F150 FORD LARIAT SUPERCREW. MY FRIEND IS A MECHANIC WITH THE WV DEPT OF HIGHWAYS AND HE HAD TO HAVE BOTH THE STEERING BEARINGS IN ALL THE 2000 F150 PICKUPS IN HIS ORGANIZATION REPLACED. THIS IS HOW I KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MINE, IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING THE STATES TRUCKS DONE. LOOSE STEERING WHEEL AND HARD TO STEER. SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED AROUND A TURN AN ACCIDENT MAY HAVE OCCURED. I BOUGHT THE TWO BEARINGS AND HAD THEM INSTALLED. NOT SURE IF MECHANIC KEPT THE OLD BEARINGS. *AK
FORD MOTOR CO. ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL ON THOUSANDS OF F-150 SERIES PU'S IN EARLY 2005, CONCERNING THE CRUISE CONTOL SWITCH. MY CRUISE CONTROL QUIT OPERATING SO I CHECKED WHAT FORD ASKED. SURE ENOUGH THE SWITCH WAS FULL OF FLUID. I WAS TOLD BY MY FORD DEALER THAT THIS WAS A RECALL PROBLEM AND WOULD BE FIXED WHEN PARTS CAME AVAILABLE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN JULY 2005 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE IN,I WAS TOLD, EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD THE RECALL PROBLEM, IT WOULD NOT BE FIXED AT THIS TIME, AS SOME MODELS WERE STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION. I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN VEHICLE RECALL INVESTIGATION, HOWEVER I DO HAVE A FAIR KNOWLEDGE OF AUTOMOBILES, AND IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK,QUACKS LIKE A DUCK, IT'S A DUCK!
ALIGNMENT FACILITY INDICATED LOWER RIGHT AND LEFT BALL JOINTS WORN AT ONLY 56K MILES. TOOK TO FORD DEALER AND VERIFIED CONDITION. MOST DISAPPOINTING AND DANGEROUS. WE WOULD EXPECT BETTER QUALITY AND FORD TO RECTIFY THIS AT NO CHARGE TO CONSUMER. *AK
I HAVE A 2001 FORD ESCAPE. BOTH RADIO AND TELEVISION REPORTED ABOUT THE GAS PEDAL STICKING FOR A RECALL. WHEN I CALLED FORD TO REPORT IT, THEY SAID MY VIN # WAS NOT A RECALL. WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO SAY WHAT VIN # HAS A WORKING OR DEFECTIVE ITEM. THE DEFECTIVE PART COULD HAVE BEEN SHIPPED ANYWHERE. MY GAS PEDAL DOES STICK AND I AM UPSET TO THINK THAT NOONE CARES. I HAVE A 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVING. SHE ALSO NOTICES THE PROBLEM. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE IN A SCHOOL ZONE BECAUSE WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL IT WON'T MOVE...IT STICKS, SO YOU HAVE TO PRESS IT WITH MORE FORCE WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO GO FASTER. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. I WOULD APPRECIATE HEARING FROM SOMEONE ON THIS SUBJECT. THANK-YOU. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE OF THE GARAGE AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE DRIVER CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. NO INJURIES REPORTED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED, AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
A PERSON PULLED OUT ON ME FROM MY RIGHT. I HIT THEIR FRONT DRIVERS SIDE. MORE THAN A FOOT OF MY FRAME WAS STICKING OUT FROM THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK. HOOD FOLDED. DRIVERS DOOR JAMMED SHUT, DASH PUSHED TOWARDS ME.MY AIRBAGS NEVER CAME OUT. MY TRUCK WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS. THE STATE TROOPERRS, COUNTY CONSTABLE,EMS PERSONEL AND WRECKER DRIVERS ALL TOLD ME I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE NOT BEEN MORE SEVERELY INJURED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THAY SAID WITH THE LOCATION OF IMPACT, SPEED (55) AND TYPE OF IMPACT THEY DEFINATELY SHOULD HAVE WENT OFF. I HIT MY RIGHT SHOULDER AND BREAST ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IT HAS BEEN THREE WEEKS AND I STILL CANNOT RISE MY RIGHT ARM. I HAVE MUTIPLE CONTUSIONS ON MY RIGHT BREAST WHICH RESUTED IN A LARGE BLOOD CLOT FORMING THAT WILL HAVE TO BE SUGICALLY REMOVED. THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY NECK HURTS VERY BAD AND SHOOTS PAIN UP BEHIND MY EAR. I STAY WITH A HEADACHE. I AM UNDER A PHYSICIANS CARE AT THIS TIME AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RETURN TO WORK. *AK
VEHICLE IS 2001 F150 SUPERCREW 4X4 PURCHASED NEW IN 2001. VEHICLE HAS 81,500 MILES AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED FOR TOWING OR HAULING HEAVY LOADS. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE RIGHT AWAY IN FORWARD GEARS. THERE IS A DELAY OF SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE ENGAGEMENT. WORKS ALRIGHT IN REVERSE AND ONCE VEHICLE STARTS MOVING. SEEMS TO BE SIMILAR TO PROBLEM NOTED IN TSB 01-11-7. BROUGHT TO STATELINE FORD IN PHILLIPSBURG, NJ TO INVESTIGATE. WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS INTERNAL PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION AND THAT REPLACEMENT IS RECOMMENDED. ASKED IF THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THIS TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AT 81,000 MILES AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER TO EXPLAIN PROBLEM AND SEE IF FORD WOULD PARTICIPATE IN PART OF COST FOR REPLACEMENT. WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT. CALLED DEALER TO SEE IF THIS COULD BE DISCUSSED WITH FIELD REP AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T. *NM
1) 90,000 MILES ON MY 2001 FORD F150 SUPERCREW 5.4L V8. ) TWO BLOWN SPARK PLUGS IN ABOUT EIGHT WEEKS TIME. THE SECOND ONE LEFT ME AND MY FAMILY (WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN AGE 5 & UNDER) STRANDED IN THE DESERT BETWEEN SAN DIEGO AND EL CENTRO ON INTERSTATE 8.*AK 3) THE PLUGS STRIPPED OUT THE THREADS ON THE HEAD AND AFTERMARKET INSERTS WERE INSTALLED IN ORDER TO INSTALL NEW PLUGS. AFTER DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM WITH A COUPLE OF GARAGES AND DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT BY FORD DESIGN THEIR ARE ONLY 6 OF THE 12 THREADS ON THE SPARK PLUG THAT ARE ENGAGED IN THE HEAD. AFTER SOME TIME ENGINE VIBRATION AND EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF THE HEAD DUE TO HEAT ALLOW THE SPARK PLUG TO LOOSEN UP. AT THAT POINT, THE PLUGS INCREASED MOVEMENT HAS ENOUGH FORCE TO DESTROY THE REMAINING THREADS. FROM THE NUMBER OF REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM, I BELIEVE THAT THIS WILL EITHER RESULT IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR A FACTORY RECALL. HOWEVER, I LIKE FORD AS A COMPANY AND HOPE THAT THEY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE POOR DESIGN BEFORE A SUIT IS FILED.

DT: HAD FORD 2001 F-150 SUPERCREW CAUGHT ON FIRE IN GARAGE BURNED HOUSE DOWN ON JAN 11,2005. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION AND IT WAS RULED THE VEHICLE CAUSED THE FIRE. INSURANCE GAVE VALUE OF VEHICLE. THERE WAS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT FILED. *NM
CONSUMER WAS AWAKENED BY A HORN GOING OFF, AND WENT TO SEE WHAT IT WAS. THEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BOOM, THEN ANOTHER BOOM. AFTER ARRIVING IN HIS GARAGE HE SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. 1) WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP I NOTICED MY TRUCK ACCELERATING. I NATURALLY PRESSED HARDER AND NEARLY RAN THROUGH MY GARAGE DOOR. ON 5 OTHER OCCASIONS SINCE I HAVE COME VERY CLOSE TO HAVING SEVERE ACCIDENTS EXPERIENCING ACCELERATION. HAD I NOT BEEN CONSCIOUS OF THE CAUSE THE INCIDENTS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY. 2) THE CAUSE DISCOVERED WAS THE PROXIMITY AND HEIGHT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL IN RELATION THE GAS PEDAL. NEARLY 1/3 OF MY FOOT CAN BE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND STILL PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. UNLIKE OTHER VEHICLES, THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT STOP BEFORE REACHING THE PLANE OF THE GAS PEDAL. 3) ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, PARTICULARLY IN HAVING TO MAKE QUICK STOPS MY FOOT HAS INADVERTENTLY PRESSED BOTH THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL. REALIZING THAT THE RESULTING ACCELERATION WAS DUE TO IMPROPER POSITIONING OF THE PEDALS I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECOVER BUT NOT WITHOUT THE LOSS OF PRECIOUS TIME. SOMEDAY I FEAR THAT THIS DEFECT WILL RESULT IN A COSTLY AND SEVERE ACCIDENT.*AK
THE CONSUMER PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE, WENT INTO THE HOUSE. AFTER DINNER, THE CONSUMERS' WIFE HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE DOG WAS BARKING AT THE DOOR. THE CONSUMER WENT TO THE GARAGE DOOR , OPENED IT, AND SAW FLAMES COMING FROM BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CONSUMER WAS GIVEN A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM THE KITCHEN EMPTIED IT ONTO THE VEHICLE, THEN GOT ANOTHER EXTINGUISHER THAT WAS IN THE GARAGE AND EMPTIED IT. HOWEVER THE FIRE WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN AT ALL. THE CONSUMER MOVED THE SECOND VEHICLE FROM THE GARAGE AND HOME BURNED DOWN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, HOWEVER THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL. *NM

ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. FIRST NOTICED THAT THE HEATER FAN STAYED RUNNING AFTER IGNITION WAS SHUT OFF. THEN, DURING A STORMY WINTER, THE WIPERS, LIGHTS, RADIO, WINDOWS, AND KEYPAD ENTRANCE ALL STOPPED WORKING--SOMETIMES TOGETHER, OTHER TIMES SEPARATELY. FORCED TO PULL-OFF THE ROAD ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AND TURN-OFF AND START OR RESTART THE VEHICLE UNTIL PROBLEM STOPPED. MY KEYPAD ENTRANCE AND REAR WIPER STILL AREN'T RIGHT. THESE PROBLEMS ONLY OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY AND DURING BAD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED. *NM THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO BREAK DOWN. THERE WAS NO REVERSE DUE TO THE LOW IN REVERSE CLUTCH BEING INOPERATIVE. THERE WAS SLIPPAGE AS WELL DUE TO THE REVERSE SUN GEAR WELD BEING BROKEN. *SC *JB

I PURCHASED MY 2001 FORD FOCUS IN OCTOBER OF 2002, IT ONLY HAD 113 MILES ON IT FROM BEING TEST DRIVEN SO ESSENTIALLY IT WAS BRAND NEW WHEN PURCHASED THAT DAY. THIS IS MY ***3RD*** TIME OF HAVING TO HAVE IT SERVICED BY FORD BECAUSE THE IGNITION LOCKED UP AND MY KEY WOULD NOT TURN. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT FORD WAS AWARE THAT THERE WERE A COUPLE MAKE/MODELS OF THE FOCUS THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE. IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SENSORS IN THE INGITION AND THE KEYS BEING WORN DOWN SO MUCH THAT IT WON'T RECOGNIZE THE KEY/SENSOR TO START THE CAR. VERY FRUSTRATING. NOW I AM DEALING WITH IT AGAIN, FORD HAS UNFORTUNATLY NOT PUT A RECALL OUT ON THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. I AM GETTING CLOSE TO THE END OF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND STILL I HAVE TO PAY A 50.00 DEDUCTIBLE EVERYTIME TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AND IT'S FAULTY EQUIPMENT THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT IT. I HOPE THERE ARE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THAT FORD ACKNOWLEDGES THIS PROBLEM AND AT THE VERY LEAST, REPLACES THIS CERTAIN IGNITION WITH ANOTHER YEAR SO US CUSTOMERS DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR ENGINEERING MISTAKES.
