SEATS ARE MANUFACTURED WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF BACK SUPPORT, AFTER DRIVING A BIT CIRCULATION IN LEGS IS CUT OFF, VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE. ALSO SEAT IS ALREADY COMING APART. *AK
SINCE PURCHASE OF VEHICLE CONSUMER NOTICED VIBRATION. FOUND OUT THAT DRIVELINE WAS TOO LONG, SHOULD BE IN 2 PIECES, ALSO, WAS TOO CLOSE TO FUEL TANK. DESIGN FLAW, DEALER COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F150 LIGHTNING SBT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS ARE BLOWN FROM THE ENGINE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE SPARKS PLUG BLEW OUT WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND INFORMED HIM TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TRUCK INVOLVED IN A FRONT END CRASH AND THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAGS, THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLED. *CJ
RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT REAR PASSENGERS HAVE NO PROTECTION TO STOP THEIR HEADS FROM HITTING THE REAR WINDOW OF THE TRUCK IN THE EVENT OF A SUDDEN STOP OR COLLISION. HAD A NEED FOR A SUDDEN STOP WITH A PASSENGER IN THE REAR WITH THIS OCCURRING. NO INJURY OCCURRED THIS TIME. HAVE NOTICED FORD IS NOW EQUIPPING NEW VEHICLE WITH HEAD RESTS. IS THIS A KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS ADDRESSING? I BELIEVE SO BEFORE SOMEONE IS UNNECESSARILY INJURED DUE TO AN INHERENT DESIGN FLAW THAT FORD APPARENTLY ACKNOWLEDGES BY A NEW SEAT REDESIGN. *AK
THE NEWER MODELS HAVE THE REAR HEAD RESTS. OBVIOUSLY, FORD RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL A FATALITY DUE TO THIS UNBELIEVABLE SAFETY OVERSIGHT. NO HEAD RESTS? STEERING COLUMN WILL NOT TURN, USUALLY HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS AND TURNING LEFT. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED AFTER 2 VISITS, DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SHAFT AND STEERING BOX. *JB
THE EARLY 2001 MODEL F150 SUPERCREW PICKUPS CAME WITH A LACK OF HEADREST FOR THE REAR SEATS. I HAVE CARRIED PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEATS AND THEY ALL HAVE EXPRESSED THE CONCERN THAT THEIR HEADS REST AGAINST THE REAR WINDOW. IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, THEIR HEADS WOULD HIT THE REAR WINDOW AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. THE NEWER MODEL 2001 SUPERCREW PICKUPS HAVE THE REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS IN PLACE. *AK
WINDSHIELD HAS FILM ON OUTSIDE OF GLASS WHEN WIPER BLADES ARE TURNED ON WHEN IT IS RAINING. WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN CLEANED , REPLACED, CLEANED AGAIN. WIPER BLADES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES . PROBLEM STILL IS NOT SOLVED. FORD REP LOOKED AT THIS TRUCK AND 5 MORE ON THE DEALER LOT . ALL TRUCKS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. VEHICLE LOST COMPLETE STEERING WHILE TURNING ONTO THE INTERSTATE INFORMED THAT PITMAN ARM DISCONNECTED FROM THE SECTION SHAFT DUE TO THE LOSS OF THE NUT AND WASHER NUT. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK DRIVER DOES NOT FEEL SAFE AND SECURE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THE DASH LIGHT FAILED AT 3000 MILES. *YH
I JUST WANTED TO INFORM YOU OF A PROBLEM THAT I HAD WITH MY 2001 FL50 SUPERCREW. MY TRUCK WAS EQUIPPED WITH A 4X4, 5.4 LITER, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, TOWING PACKAGE, AND IT WAS AN XLT LARIAT. ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES! MY REPORTED CONCERN IS THAT THE SUSPENSION IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE RATED TOWING CAPACITY. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 60 MPH. A CAR CUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I MOVED TO THE LEFT LANE TO AVOID RUNNING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY TRAILER'S EMPTY WEIGHT WAS 5000 LBS AND I ESTIMATE THAT I HAD ANOTHER 1000-1500 LBS INSIDE. THE TRUCK WAS EQUIPPED WITH WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION BARS AND AN ANTI-SWAY BAR(REESE MFG.). WHEN I CHANGED LANES THE TRUCK SWAYED/LEANED HARD TO THE LEFT, THEN SWAYED HARD TO THE RIGHT. THE TRUCK THEN ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES AND LANDED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SLIDING DOWN THE EDGE OF THE INTERSTATE. THE TRUCK AND OUR 29 FOOT CAMPER WERE TOTALED. THERE WERE FOUR PASSENGERS IN THE TRUCK: MYSELF, WIFE, AND TWO CHILDREN. EVERYONE SURVIVED WITH MINOR CUTS A
BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHILE VEHICLE WAS SITTING STILL, WITH NO IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE.*AK
THERE ARE NO HEADRESTS FOR THE BACK SEATS. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, THE REAR PASSANGERS COULD SUFFER MAJOR HEAD INJURIES. *AK
2 TRANSMISSION FAILURES; REPLACED WITH NEW TRANSMISSION & DRIVE SHAFT; PER SECOND TECH NOTES: FOUND DAMAGED EXTENSION HOUSING BUSHING SPUN AND WAS ON DRIVE SHAFT, CLUTCHS BURNED, BAND BURNED, SOLENOID WAS STUCK IN BORECONVERTER HUB WORN, DRIVE SHAFT WORN, BACK FLUSHED COOLER INST FOR REPAIR WAS OVER 1400 FLOW TEST. *AK
TIRES ROTATING ON RIM. TIRES MOVED 90 DEGREES ON RIM CAUSING TIRES TO BECOME UNBALANCED( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 15 )
THERE IS A PART IN BITE OF SEAT THAT IS NOT COVERED. WHEN CONSUMER HAD HIS HAND IN THE BITE, AND HIS WIFE PUT SEAT DOWN, NON COVERED PARTS ALMOST CUT OFF CONSUMER'S FINGER. *AK THE SPLIT BENCH SEAT WOULD FOLD FORWARD QUICKLY IF THE RELEASE IS PUSHED DOWN. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE INJURIES. *YH
THIS IS A NEW FOUR DOOR MODEL FORD PICKUP TRUCK WITH A FULL SIZE REAR SEAT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE REAR SEAT DOES NOT HAVE ANY HEAD RESTS/RESTRAINTS ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT. DURING A FAST STOP OR ACCIDENT PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT WILL STRIKE THERE HEAD ON THE BACK WINDOW CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY. FORD HAS JUST CHANGED THE TRUCK DESIGN TO INCLUDE HEAD RESTS/RESTRAINTS ON ITS F150 SUPERCREW BUT WILL NOT RECALL/REPLACE ALL THE REAR SEATS MADE PRIOR TO THE CHANGE. ALL F150 SUPERCREWS MADE UP TO APPROX. OCT. 2000 NEED THIS CORRECTION. CALLING FORD HAS NOT HELPED IN THE MATTER. *AK
CHILD 2 1/2 YR OLD IN TRUCK. HAD HEAD OUT WINDOW & STEPPED ON BUTTON & WINDOW WAS RAISED. DRIVER TRIED TO LOWER WINDOW AS CHILD KEPT STEPPING ON BUTTON. CHILD WAS CHOKING. HAD TO BREAK WINDOW TO GET CHILD'S HEAD OUT OF WINDOW.*AK
CONSUMER'S HUSBAND WAS WASHING VEHICLE. DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE DOORS HAVE RAW MATERIAL UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS. HER HUSBAND WAS CUT BY THE RAW MATERIAL COMING FROM THE DOOR. ALSO, BED LINER DOESN'T FIT. THERE ARE HOLES AND SPACES ON THE TOP OF THE LINER, AND A WHOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LINER. IF HAULING ANYTHING INSIDE OF THE LINER IT WOULD RUN UNDERNEATH THE BED. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC INSTALLED A BLACK JELLY UNDERNEATH THE DOORS. *AK
REAR PASSENGER SEAT HEADRESTS ARE INADEQUATE. REAR PASSENGER HEADS COME IN CONTACT WITH REAR GLASS. DEFECT CORRECTED IN LATE MODEL YEAR OF VEHICLE. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH 2001 FORD F150 TIRE EQUIPMENT.*MR THE NEW SPARE TIRE WAS REMOVED FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE TO USED AS A REPLACEMENT FOR A FRONT TIRE. WHEN THE TIRE WAS EXAMINED THE CONSUMER NOTICED SEVERAL GROOVES ABOUT 3/8 OF AN INCH DEEP HAD BEEN RUBBED INTO THE SIDEWALL OF THE SPARE. THE TIRE AGENCY DID NOT RECOMMEND USING THE TIRE THEREFORE THE CONSUMER KEPT THE OLD FRONT TIRE. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT THE GROOVES IN THE TIRE WERE COSMETIC AND THAT THE TIRE WAS SAFE TO USE. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE SPARE TIRE HOLDER UNDER THE VEHICLE. *NM

2001 FORD HAS AN OIL LEAK ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. CONSUMER STATES THAT FORD FEEL THAT THE LEAK IS NORMAL AND THAT THERE IS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEM. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE OIL LEAK WAS CAUSED BY METAL CHIP DEBRIS OR DAMAGE TO THE SEALING SURFACE THAT OCCURRED DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM, THE ENGINE MUST BE PULLED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. *JB UPDATED 03/01/10
2001 FORD F150 TRUCK HAS A RECALL FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL HARNESS. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL HARNESS WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL, BUT AT THE TIME OF REPLACEMENT, THE SWITCH WAS NOT LEAKING, BUT NOW IT IS LEAKING. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS TOLD THE RECALL WAS CLOSED OUT AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BUT CHARGE HIM TO FIX IT. *JB
CONSUMER HAD ONLY OWNED VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN WEEK WHEN THE STEERING ARM WAS ABOUT TO FALL DUE TO A LOOSE BOLT THAT WAS NOT TIGHTENED PROPERLY AT THE FACTORY. *AK
THERE IS NO HEAD RESTRAINT ON BACK SEATS. IN A SUDDEN STOP OR FRONTAL COLLISION, BACK SEAT PASSENGERS HEADS WILL BE MAKING THEIR WAY THROUGH THE BACK GLASS TO GRAPHIC, IF NOT VIOLENT DEATH. *AK

I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY FACTOR OF THE LACK OF REAR SEAT HEADRESTS. AFTER 6 MONTHS OF SALES OF THE NEW SUPERCREW MODEL, FORD ALTERED THE DESIGN AND NOW HAS HEADRESTS. I AM INTERESTED IN A RETROFIT KIT FROM FORD THAT ADDS HEADRESTS. *AK
COMPLAINT ON THE LACK OF HEADRESTS ON THE EARLY 2001 MODELS. LATER MODELS HAVE THEM AND I AM CONCERNED.*AK
FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOW INSTALLING REAR SEATS WITH HEAD RESTRAINTS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE ALACK OF REAR SEAT HEAD RESTRAINTS IS UNSAFE AND WILL LIKELY CAUSE MORE INJURIES AND POSSIBLE DEATH IN A MAJOR CRASH. I FEE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AND REPACE THE REAR SEATS WITH THE NEW MODEL SEATS CONTAINING THE HEAD RESTRAINTS. *AK
LACK OF A HEAD RESTRAINT FOR THE REAR SEAT PASSENGERS. ON OCCASION IT IS POSSIBLE FOR AN OCCUPANT TO HIT THEIR HEAD ON THE REAR WINDOW. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN. FORD HAS COME OUT WITH A NEW SEAT DESIGN WHICH INCLUDES HEAD RESTRAINTS. I FEEL THEY SHOULD RETROFIT EARLIER MODELS BUILT THIS YEAR WITH THE NEWER SEATS. EVEN IF IT WERE FOR THE LABOR CHARGE TO CHANGE THE SEATS. THANK YOU. *AK

FORD HAS UPDATED THE REAR SEATS WITH HEAD RESTS IN LATER 2001 MODLES. THE EARLIER MODELS SHOULD BE RETROFITTED WITH THESE HEAD RESTS TOO. IT'S A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.*AK

IF I'M INVOLVED IN A REAR END TYPE OF CRASH WHERE I'M HIT FROM REAR I'M CONCERNED THAT MY REAR SEATED PASSENGERS HEAD MAY HIT THE REAR WINDOW GLASS BECAUSE OF A FLAW IN DESIGN OF REAR SEATS NOT HAVING A HEAD REST. YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED SINCE I HAVE TWO ELEMENTARY SSCHOOL CHILDREN THAT ARE MY MAIN PASSENGERS AND SINCE THEY CANNOT SIT IN FRONT OF TRUCK BECAUSE OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CONCERNS. I BELIEVE THE NEW CHANGE TO THE MID-MODEL F-150 SUPERCREW'S REAR SEAT, BY ADDING THE HEAD RESTRAINT IS A GREAT IDEA AND SHOULD BE RETROFITTED INTO THE OLDER MODELS WHICH WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH THOSE RESTRAINTS. SITTING AT THE HEIGHT IN WHICH THE SEATS ARE CONSTRUCTED CAN (AND DOES) RESULT IN THE HEAD STRIKING THE REAR WINDOW UPON ACCELERATION AND WHEN WHIPPED BACK IN A SUDDEN BRAKING INCIDENT. TO PREVENT ANY FORM OF LITIGATION FROM AN ACCIDENT FORD MO. CO. SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND AMMEND THE SITUATION. *AK
