FAULTY SPARK PLUG COIL, STRIPS OUT OF MOTOR HEAD AND POPS OUT SPARK PLUG AND COILS. LEAVING FUMES AND GAS TO IGNITE IF DRIVEN, OR OWNER STRANDED. HAS HAPPENED 2X TO OUR FAMILY AND AFTER READING MANY FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS AND TALKING TO OTHER FORD TRUCK OWNERS IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THESE TRUCKS. FORD SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. MY HUSBANDS' FORD F150 TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WAS TOTALED. THE TRUCK HAD BEEN IDLE FOR 2 DAYS AND NOT DRIVEN MORE THEN 500 FEET OVER THE LAST 2 MONTHS. I WAS AWAKED FROM SLEEP WHEN MY HUSBAND HAPPENED TO GLANCE OUT THE WINDOW AND SEE THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE STREET. WE CALLED 911 BUT BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED THE ENTIRE KING CAB PORTION OF THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED. *TR
TRUCK WITH 56,000 ORIGINAL MILES. AFTER STOPPING TRUCK TO DISPOSE OF TRASH, SPARK PLUG #8 BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE HEAD WHILE IDLING. TRUCK IMMEDIATELY TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. DEALER STATED THIS IS VERY UNCOMMON PROBLEM. HELICOILED HEAD. INSTALLED NEW PLUG. $700.00. WHEN VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM DEALERSHIP THERE WAS A LOUD KNOCK IN ENGINE, BUT WE WERE TOLD IT WAS WITHIN SPECS AND SAFE TO DRIVE. MECHANIC NOW SAYS THERE IS A SEVERE ROD PROBLEM, MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY PARTS OF DEBRIS IMPACTING PISTON AND CYLINDER HEAD. ESTIMATED COST $4,500. FOR REBUILT ENGINE. *TR
VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO STORE WHERE IT SAT FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING. UPON STARTING, THE ENGINE NOISE WAS VERY LOUD, SOUNDED LIKE BACKFIRING. ENGINE WAS IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MECHANIC. PROBLEM WAS BLOWN NUMBER 8 SPARK PLUG, THE WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WHERE THE PLUG WAS BLOWN OUT TAKING THE THREADS FROM THE HEAD WITH IT. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO TAP THE RESULTANT HOLE, ADD A REPAIR INSERT, AND A NEW SPARK PLUG. *TR
PROBLEM WAS INSTANT WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON RT. 18. FORD F150 V8 STARTED MISSING, SMELLING OF GAS, MAKING LOUD NOISE WHICH APPEARED TO BE EVERY TIME THE BELT WENT AROUND, UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, HAD TO KEEP ONE FOOT ON GAS AND ONE FOOT ON BRAKE AT RED LIGHT. PROBLEM WAS THAT THE SPARK PLUG OVERHEATED AND EJECTED. SAFETY ISSUE WITH FUEL VAPORS COMING OUT OF SPARK PLUG HOLE AND COULD IGNITE FROM LOOSE SPARK PLUG. FORD DENIES THIS IS A PROBLEM AND CLAIM THERE HAS ONLY BEEN THREE REPORTED CASES WHEN I HAD THE DEALER CALL THEM. AFTER TALKING ABOUT IT AT WORK, I FOUND ANOTHER EMPLOYEE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SO THERE ARE TWO CASES RIGHT THERE THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT. HOW MANY CASES DO THEY REALLY KNOW ABOUT OR DENY KNOWING ABOUT? *TR
I HAVE A 2001 FORD F150 5.4 SUPER CREW WHITE THE SPARK PLUG NUMBER FIVE BLEW OUT ON THE HIGHWAY ON OUR WAY HOME! I WAS WITH MY WIFE AND THREE CHILDREN WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT SCARED US IT WAS A VERY LOUD NOISE IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT THEN THE MOTOR STARTED TO SHAKE AND MIS FIRE WE SMELT GAS AND AS THE TRUCK WAS LOOSING POWER I HAD MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING PULL OFF THE ROAD ON TO THE SIDE THEN WE CALLED THE TOW TRUCK THEN WE HAD IT TOWED HOME! THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HE HAS SEEN ALOT AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS IT CAN START ON FIRE AND WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR IN A CRASH BECAUSE OF IT THANK GOD WE NOT! HE ALSO STATED THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BUT FORD IS TOO CHEAP AND DON'T CARE ABOUT PEOPLE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY! I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IF NOT RECALLED AND I WANT TO HAVE IT FIXED! I'M IN THE LARGE GROWING NUMBER OF OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD A SPARKPLUG BLOW OUT. FORD KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM AND HAVE COME UP WITH A SPECIAL TOOL TO HELP IN THE REPAIR OF THIS. IT RETHREADS THE HOLE THEN THEY HAVE AN INSERT THAT GOES IN IT. THE PROBLEM IS THERE'S NOT ENOUGH THREADS TO HOLD THE PLUG. THE THING IS, IF THEY DON'T WANT TO DO A TOTAL RECALL THEN THEY SHOULD AT LEAST COVER THE EXPENSE WHEN IT HAPPENS. I GUESS LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE, IT'S GOING TO TAKE A DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY BEFORE THEY WILL STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO THE RIGHT THING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANG. TWO DAYS LATER, HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING LOWER THAN USUAL. WHEN HE INSPECTED, HE NOTICED THAT THE LEAF SPRING FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION BROKE AND PIERCED THE FLOORBOARD. HE ALSO SAW THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME AND SUSPENSION SYSTEM WERE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND PARKED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED BY A MECHANIC. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 182,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL DRAGGING COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS SEMI-FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. BOTH STRAPS WERE FRACTURED AND THE FUEL TANK WAS HANGING FROM THE VEHICLE BY THE FUEL LINE. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS PLACE OF RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 191,000.
GAS TANK IS LEAKING AND STRAPS ARE ROTTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAPS HAD BEGUN TO RUST. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V385000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING) BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, I HEARD A LOUD POP FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGHLY AND ACCOMPANIED BY POPPING SOUNDS. WITHIN 10 SECONDS, THE SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS NOTICED. I PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT, APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER, AND CAME TO A STOP. AS I CAME TO A STOP, FLAMES ERUPTED FROM THE HOOD AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. A FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED WITHIN A FEW MINUTES AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, BUT NOT BEFORE THE FIRE HAD BURNED THROUGH THE FIREWALL INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE #8 CYLINDER SPARK PLUG HAD EJECTED FROM THE CYLINDER (THE INITIAL POP SOUND) WITH SUCH FORCE THAT IT RUPTURED THE RUBBER FUEL LINE IMMEDIATELY ABOVE IT AND AFT OF THE STAINLESS FUEL INJECTOR BAR. WITH FUEL SPRAYING FROM THE HOSE, IT WAS THEN IGNITED BY THE COIL WHICH WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE ENGINE AND EMITTING SPARKS. IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD DESIGN IN THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A HISTORY OF PROBLEMS WITH EJECTING SPARK PLUGS DUE TO A LACK OF ADEQUATE THREADS IN THE SPARK PLUG HOLES. I BELIEVE THIS DEFECT CONTRIBUTED DIRECTLY TO THIS FIRE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AFTER FUELING WITH KEY OFF AND REMOVED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE, THIS OCCURRED 45 MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF. THE FIRE WAS CAUGHT IN TIME TO NOT CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE, THE MASTER CYLINDER WITH ATTACHED PLUGS/HARNESSES AND CLOSE PROXIMITY PARTS WERE MELTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND CLAIMED THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL PLUG ON THE MASTER CYLINDER, THAT WAS UNDER RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER, 03V280000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL CABLES IN 2008 AND AN IDENTICAL NOTICE THAT WAS ISSUED IN 2009. SHE HAS ATTEMPTED TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME SHE WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. AFTER THE REPAIR ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AFTER IT HAD BEEN PARKED. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE POLICE RESPONDED TO THE SCENE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF HIS RESIDENCE AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 158,000.
I HAD JUST ARRIVED AT A CAMPSITE WITH MY FAMILY AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF IN MY 2001 FORD F150 TRUCK. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I PULLED AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN AND HEARD A STRANGE SOUND. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND SAW THE GAS TANK ON THE GROUND.
WHEN ACCELERATING AT HIGHER FREEWAY SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR STICKS AND DOES NOT DISENGAGE. ONLY AFTER KICKING OR PERFECTLY KNOCKING IT WITH YOUR FOOT WILL IT DISENGAGE. THIS OCCURS BOTH WITH AND WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. *TR

SPARK PLUG #3 HAS BLOWN OUT OF CYLINDER HEAD ON TWO OCCASIONS. THIS SECOND OCCURRENCE DAMAGED THE THREADS REQUIRING REPAIR WITH A HELICOIL KIT. THIS DEFECTIVE HEAD CAN CAUSE FIRE HAZARD. *TR
I HAVE A 2001 FORD 150 PICKUP AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE BELTWAY MY GAS TANK STRAPS BROKE AND MY GAS TANK WAS DRAGGING ON THE ROAD. I DIDN'T KNOW THIS UNTIL I PULLED OVER BECAUSE I HEARD A WEIRD NOISE UNDER THE TRUCK. AFTER INSPECTING ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD I NOTICED THE GAS TANK WAS LAYING ON THE GROUND, BOTH STRAPS HAD BROKE DUE TO RUST. I HAD TO STRAP UP THE TANK WITH TWO TIE DOWNS AND THEN ORDER NEW STRAPS FROM THE DEALER AND REPLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, THE FUEL TANK FRACTURED FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TWO STRAPS HOLDING THE FUEL TANK HAD BROKEN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 162,852. 2001 FORD F150 WAS PARKED FOR 4-5 DAYS IN DRIVEWAY. WOKE UP EARLY A.M. TO LOUD THUMB NOISE. LOOKED OUT, TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. FIRE DEPTS SAYS IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS ELECTRICAL AND FROM UNDER HOOD. TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOSS. INSURANCE CO. HAS YET TO LOOK AT TRUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND LIGHT GREY SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE EXHAUST. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND ENGINE HEAT CONTROL SENSOR WERE REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,042.
I HAVE A 2001 FOCUS ZX3 - 5SP THAT TENDS TO STALL WHEN THE AC IS ON. BUT IT MAY NOT STALL DURING THE "INITIAL" USE PERIOD. WITHOUT WARNING, IT WILL STALL AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED. MY SERVICE SHOP CHECKED THE COMPUTER CODES FOR A PROBLEM AND NOTHING CAME UP. YESTERDAY, IT WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 30MINS WITH THE AC ON (OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AROUND 80+ DEGREES). THE VEHICLE RAN FINE WITH THE RPMS NORMAL WHEN STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF FOR ABOUT 90 MINS. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART IT WOULD STALL. TO GET STARTED I NEEDED TO KEEP FOOT ON GAS PEDAL (TO MAINTAIN A HIGH ENOUGH RPM TO PREVENT THE STALL). IF I DID NOT KEEP THE RPMS UP, VEHICLE WOULD STALL. WHILE DRIVING AND STOPPING, I NEEDED TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MAINTAIN THE RPMS. (THIS CAN BE CHALLENGING WITH A 5-SPD.) THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PARKED FOR OVER FOUR HOURS. IT THEN STARTED WITHOUT PROBLEM AND RAN NORMALLY. DURING THIS PERIOD I DID NOT HAVE THE AC ON. I SEE THAT THIS MAY BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FOCUS. HOWEVER, NEITHER FORD MOTOR'S CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE NOR THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP (ECHELON FORD) ON 6/8/10 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY COULD NOT RECREATE IT. I WAS CHARGED $108 FOR THE SHOP TIME AND STILL HAVE NO TECHNICAL ANSWER TO THIS CRITICAL AND POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEM... *TR
ON TWO OCCASIONS, MY 2001 FORD F150 (5.4 ENGINE, AUTO, 4WD) HAS HAD THE THROTTLE ACCELERATOR "STICK" DURING ACCELERATION. THE FIRST OCCASION OCCURRED IN FEBRUARY 2010, AND THE SECOND OCCURRED MAY 28, 2010 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:45 AM CST. ON BOTH OCCASIONS, I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND ALSO THE ACCELERATOR, WHEN THESE ACTIONS DID NOT RESPOND TO THE PROBLEM, I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNED OF THE IGNITION, AND PULLED OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, THE SAME ATTEMPT WAS MADE, PUMPING THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL; AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS AND MANY DEPRESSIONS OF THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR, I MADE ONE FINAL, VERY FAST DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE, WHICH RESULTED IN A NOTICEABLE "CLUNK" SOUND AND ACCOMPANYING JARRING SENSATION, SIMILAR TO SOMETHING DISENGAGING. AFTER THIS, THE TRUCK RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. NO "CHECK ENGINE" INDICATION WAS NOTED BEFORE OR AFTER EITHER OF THESE OCCASIONS OF "STUCK" ACCELERATOR. FORTUNATELY, ON BOTH OCCASIONS, TRAFFIC WAS VERY LIGHT. IF TRAFFIC HAD BEEN HEAVIER, A COLLISION WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKELY TO OCCUR. *TR

THE CONTACT FURTHER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE HOOD SPRINGS HAD FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 158,000.
2001 FORD F150 5.4L CRACKED INTAKE MANIFOLD. CRANKED TRUCK AND SAW ANTIFREEZE LEAKING FROM PASSENGER SIDE OF INTAKE. GETTING MOTOR FIXED AND HAVE VERIFIED IT TO BE CRACKED MANIFOLD. *TR
THE GAS TANK STRAP ON MY 2001 F-150 RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH. THE TANK HAS 2 STRAPS HOLDING THE TANK UP INSIDE THE FRAME. THE FRONT ONE WAS INTACT AND THE REAR STRAP RUSTED COMPLETELY IN TWO. MY FRIEND NOTICED MY GAS TANK WAS HANGING DOWN SLIGHTLY AND I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THE CONDITION OF THE REAR STRAP. I DROVE HOME SLOW AVOIDING POTHOLES,ETC. AND CALLED AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO ORDER A NEW STRAP. I WANTED TO GO WITH A FORD PART BUT THEY ONLY CAME AS A SET AND COST MUCH MORE THAN THE AUTO PARTS STORE. I'M CONCERNED SOMEONE MAY NOT NOTICE THIS CONDITION UNTIL THEIR GAS TANK GOES ROLLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. *TR

THERE WAS A LARGE QUANTITY OF GASOLINE SPRAYING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE WHERE THE CONTACT MADE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL TANK STRAPS HAD FRACTURED CAUSING THE FUEL TANK TO FALL FROM PLACE. RE: 2001 FORD F150 2WD, BOTTOM BOLT HOLDING LEFT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER TO SPINDLE ASSEMBLY FELL OUT. SCRUBBING SOUND AT BRAKING INITIATED AN INVESTIGATION OF PROBLEM AND FOUND LOWER FASTENER MISSING AND UPPER FASTENER LOOSE. THE CALIPER HAD ROTATED AND CAST IRON PISTON ASSEMBLY WAS RUBBING INTERIOR OF ALUMINUM WHEEL. FORTUNATELY I WAS WITHIN THREE MILES OF HOME. CONTINUING TRAVEL HAD THE POTENTIAL TO DESTROY THE WHEEL AND CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT. THE RIGHT SIDE WAS INVESTIGATED AND BOTH FASTENERS WERE IN PLACE. THE FORD SUPPLIED CAPSCREWS (BOLTS) DID NOT HAVE SERRATED FLANGED HEAD, DID NOT HAVE LOCKWASHERS, DID NOT HAVE THREAD LOCKING LIQUID COMPOUND APPLIED TO THREADS. LOCAL FORD DEALER WAS CLOSED ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON. ALL FOUR FASTENERS WERE REPLACED BY OWNER USING FLANGED STAINLESS STEEL CAPSCREWS OF THE CORRECT THREAD AND LENGTH USING THREAD LOCKING LIQUID COMPOUND. OWNER HAS POSSESSION OF THE THREE FASTENERS REMOVED. HELLO, I WAS DRIVING MY 2001, FORD F-150 TRUCK WITH MY SON IN THE REAR CAB ON A RAINY SATURDAY AFTERNOON IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR WHEN THE GAS TANK FELL OUT OF IT AND WAS DRAGGING ON THE GROUND FOR APPROXIMATELY A TENTH OF A MILE BEFORE I PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. MY 2001 F150 THROTTLE SPEEDS UP INTERMITTENTLY. NEVER SURE WHEN IT WILL DO IT OR HOW HIGH IT WILL GO. THE HIGHEST RECORD SO FAR IS ABOUT 2600 RPM. I NORMALLY PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, PULL TO THE SIDE, TURN OFF AND RESTART THE TRUCK AND ALL WORKS WELL AGAIN. FORD GARAGE HAS LOOKED AT IT AND STATED (NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNTIL IT CODES OR DOES IT IN THEIR PRESENCE) . I STILL HAVE TO DRIVE IT BUT I DO NOT LEND IT OUT TO ANYONE.
