TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY FELL INSIDE THE DOOR AND HE WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE IT . THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY THE DEALER NOR HAD IT BEEN REPAIRED. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW ONE YEAR PRIOR AND WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATOR AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F150 WITH A DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATOR. I ALREADY KNOW FORD HAS PUT IN A DEFECTIVE PART CAUSING THE WINDOWS TO COLLAPSE AND HAVE SEEN MANY CASES WHERE THIS HAPPENS TO PEOPLE WITH FORDS. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS THAT I READ FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DON'T PUSH FORD FOR A RECALL? ITS NOT RIGHT FOR CUSTOMERS TO PAY FOR REPAIRS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *LN
JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE WINDOW CAME DOWN BY ITSELF. THIS IS THE SECOND POWER WINDOW TO GO OUT ON OUR TRUCK. HAD FORD REPLACE IT ONCE AND NEED IT DONE ON THE OTHER DOOR NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE PROGRESSED AND ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,700.
2004 FORD F15, UNIT 1 WAS EASTBOUND IN FAR RIGHT LANE OF THE OHIO TURNPIKE. THE BALL OF TRAILER HITCH BECAME DISENGAGED FROM POWER UNIT. UNIT 1 TRAILER SEPARATED FROM THE POWER UNIT AND TRAVELED ONTO INSIDE BERM, STRIKING BARRIER WALL, CAUSING CAR A TOP TRAILER TO SLIDE FORWARD OFF OF TRAILER. *BF (OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT # 10-0072-90)*JB UPDATED 04/22/11 *BF
2004 FORD F150 WITH 5.4 LITER V-8. ENGINE PROBLEMS, STALLING WHEN SLOWING DOWN, HESTITATION, SPARK PLUGS RATCHETED DOWN THAT THEY BREAK WHEN REMOVING. ENGINES THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF DESIGN. FORD AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT TECHS AT FORD TELL PEOPLE ITS BAD GAS UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. CHECK F150FORUM.COM AND YOU WILL SEE HOW BIG THE PROBLEM REALLY IS. I BELIEVE FORD KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AND IS TRYING TO BURY IT. MY ENGINE FAILED IN A SNOWSTORM GOING UP HILL. I WAS ALMOST IN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT WITH SNOW COVERED ROADS. MECHANICS KNOW ITS A FLAWED ENGINE, AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY THE NHTSA DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. YOU ARE TOLD IT IS BAD GAS AND TO KEEP CHANGING YOUR FUEL FILTER. MY TRUCK WOULD NOT GO OVER 85 MILES AN HOUR SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW. I WAS TOLD IT WAS BAD GAS. I KEPT CHANGING THE FILTER EVERY SIX MONTHS AS I WAS TOLD. I THINK THEY KNEW THIS ENGINE HAD A BAD DESIGN AND KEPT PEOPLE IN THE DARK HOPING THE ENGINE WOULD LAST UNTIL IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150 EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DISCOVERER ATR TIRES, TIRE SIZE 265-70-17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES EXHIBITED EXCESSIVE CRACKS AND WERE DRY ROTTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE CENTER WHERE THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE A REFUND FOR THE DEFECTIVE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBERS WERE UNAVAILABLE.
ENGINE STARTED TO IDLE ROUGH AND LOOSE ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING UP HILL. STALLED A COUPLE TIMES WHILE STOPPED AND IDLING. THE ENGINE WOULD LAG WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND FOR THE FIRST 3 TIMES, THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. UPON THE FOURTH TIME AT THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS THE CAM PHASER AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED, AT 72,000 MILES. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THIS BEING FORD'S PROBLEM, THEY STATED THAT "IT HASN'T AFFECTED 1 MILLION VEHICLES, SO NO, NOT THEIR PROBLEM". THIS WAS A VERY CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE, AS I WOULD LOOSE ACCELERATING POWER WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN AFTER I TRIED TO ROLL IT UP, A FEW WEEKS LATER THE BACK PASSENGER WINDOW FELL DOWN BY ITSELF. *TR
MY GIRLFRIEND & I WERE DRIVING OUR 2004 FORD F-150 ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN WE HEARD A REALLY STARTLING, LOUD BANG & SAW MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SLAM DOWN INTO THE DOOR. I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS SHOOTING AT THE TRUCK OR SOMETHING & SWERVED INTO OTHER LANES IN A PANIC. WE WERE ALMOST IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT. AFTER TAKING THE DOOR PANEL OFF & SEEING ALL THE WIRE CABLES HANGING THERE & BROKEN PLASTIC PIECES I DID SOME RESEARCH & FOUND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR US & OTHERS. WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT BE INJURED OR INJURE ANYBODY ELSE. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, WE SHOULD EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN WHICH REALLY BOTHERS ME. WE HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN & IF THIS HAD HAPPENED OR HAPPENS AGAIN WHEN THEY ARE IN THE CAR & WE GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, WE ALL COULD GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE & NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR PUTTING OUT FAULTY PARTS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. WE KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, WHY HASN'T ANYBODY DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT IS BEYOND ME THOUGH. AND TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THEY ARE ASKING OVER $400 PER WINDOW TO REPLACE WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART. I'M NOT POSITIVE, BUT I BELIEVE IT WILL HAPPEN TO MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SOON TOO BECAUSE IT HAS NOT WORKED RIGHT SINCE THE FIRST COUPLE WEEKS I BOUGHT MY TRUCK, NOT EVEN A FULL YEAR AGO & ITS BEEN MAKING NOISES. DATE OF INCIDENT: 1/20/2011 VEHICLE: 2004 FORD F-150 COMPLAINT: PASSENGER WINDOW SUDDENLY DESCENDED INTO DOOR AND SHATTERED. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAD THIS ISSUE IN AUGUST OF 2010. REPLACED BY DEALER AT MY COST (APPROX $400). INTERNET SEARCH SHOWED OVER 1000 COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE AND NO RECALL FROM FORD. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD!! *TR
WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE, THIRD OCCURRENCE WITHIN A YEAR. FIRST INCIDENT WAS LEFT REAR WINDOW, THEN RIGHT REAR WINDOW NOW RIGHT FRONT. ALL THREE INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING A HAZARDOUS DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. TWO INCIDENTS HAPPENED IN FOUL WEATHER FURTHER DISRUPTING THE DRIVER.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO RECOMMENDED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE SPARK PLUGS MAY POSSIBLY FRACTURE WHEN BEING REMOVED FROM THE ENGINE WHICH WOULD RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL REPAIR COST FOR THE REMOVAL PROCESS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
2 WINDOW REGULATORS IN MY 2004 FORD F150 CREW CAB WERE DEFECTIVE. *LN
REAR WINDOW FELL CAUSING AIR TO RUSH IN COULD NOT RAISE REAR WINDOW, 1 YEAR OLD CHILD IN BABY SEAT IN BACKSEAT. COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. NO WARNING NO WAY TO RAISE WINDOW. READ NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS SAME EVENT HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WITH SAME MODEL YEAR AND MANUFACTURER. *TR
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF ENGINE. HAPPENED ONCE IN 2009 RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE. HAD HEAD REPAIRED WITH HELI-COIL KIT. REPLACED PLUGS, PLUG WIRES, COIL. REPAIRS COST IN EXCESS OF $700. HAPPENED AGAIN IN JANUARY OF 2011. SAME SIDE OF ENGINE, SAME PLUG. NOT REPAIRED YET. THIS IS A TREMENDOUS FIRE/SAFETY HAZARD. GAS VAPORS TRAPPED IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH THE FIRING PLUG DANGLING FREE. COULD START AN ENGINE FIRE. VERY DANGEROUS! *TR
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F -150 WITH A SOUND IN THE TOP END . IT SOUNDS LIKE A ROD KNOCKING BUT SINCE IT IS A OVER HEAD CAM THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE. I HAVE LOOKED ON LINE AND ASKED AROUND ABOUT THIS FOR SOME TIME NOW WITH NO GOOD ANSWERS! *TR
SHAFT ASSEMBLY PART #8L32-3B676-B ON 2004 FORD F-150 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC TOLD ME THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) . STEERING WHEEL WOULD STICK BADLY ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEED TURNS AND INTERMITTENTLY AT HIGH SPEED TURNS, AS WELL, CAUSING TWO NEAR ACCIDENTS. STILL HAVING PROBLEMS...ONE MECHANIC TELLS ME IT THE TIE RODS THAT REQUIRE REPLACING AND ANOTHER TELLS ME LOWER STEERING SHAFT NEEDS REPLACEMENT. *TR
VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
THE FRONT COLLISION SENSOR ON THE 2004-2005 FORD F150'S ARE NOT WORKING. I WAS AT A DEALERSHIP IN VERMILION OHIO AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL TRUCKS COME IN WHERE THE FRONT COLLISION SENSORS HAVE GONE BAD, PROBABLY FROM WATER GETTING INTO THE SENSORS AND FREEZING WHICH IN TURN HAS CRACKED THE SENSOR. NOW MY AIRBAG SWITCH STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 40MPH, ENGINE MISFIRED, AND STOPPED RUNNING. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. WAS TOLD SPARK PLUG WAS BLOWN OUT OF ENGINE, DAMAGING IGNITION COIL. WAS QUOTED $620 TO REPAIR. WENT BACK TO DEALER 2 DAYS LATER TO PICK UP VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIR DID NOT WORK. WAS QUOTED "AT LEAST $2000" TO REPLACE HEAD. AFTER RESEARCHING PROBLEM, THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS OF FORD VEHICLES HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS THIS NOT BEING RECALLED? FORD HAS NOT REMEDIED THIS PROBLEM AND IS STILL GUILTY OF FRAUD BY SELLING VEHICLES WITH A KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A FORD F150 SINCE NEW AND CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY WINDOWS - THIS IS A 2004 FX4 MODEL CREW CAB / WITH P/W . MY 16YR OLD SON WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 60MPH WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR ALMOST CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
IN APPROXIMATELY NOVEMBER 2009, AS WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2004 FORD F150 SUPER CREW PICKUP TRUCK DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE WINDOW IN THE PASSENGER DOOR FELL INTO THE DOOR WITH A SIGNIFICANT CRASH. WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO ROLL THE POWER WINDOW BACK UP IT WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. WHEN WE RETURNED HOME WE HAD TO WRAP PLASTIC WRAP AROUND THE DOOR BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY VEHICLE THAT WE HAD AT THE TIME. I WORK 40 MILES AWAY FROM HOME AND HAD TO DRIVE IT WITH THE WINDOW DOWN TO AND FROM WORK IN WINTER FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE FORD COULD GET IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE WORKED ON. THE FORD DEALERSHIP CHARGED US OVER $400 DOLLARS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. LATER I FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY FAULTY EQUIPMENT INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. HERE IT IS, WINTER TIME, AND IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. TODAY AS MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING TO THE GROCERY STORE THE DRIVER WINDOW CRASHED DOWN INTO THE DOOR. HE DIDN'T TRY TO OPEN IT OR ANYTHING, IT JUST CAME LOOSE ON ITS OWN. THIS TIME HE BELIEVES THAT THE WINDOW HAS BROKEN INSIDE THE DOOR. I COULD NOT IMAGINE WHAT KIND OF HARM THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED HIM OR OTHER DRIVERS IF IT HAD SHATTERED BEFORE THE WINDOW MADE IT COMPLETELY INTO THE DOOR. THIS IS THE 2ND WINDOW ON THIS TRUCK. THERE ARE 4 DOORS ALL TOGETHER. WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT MAY HAPPEN WHEN THE NEXT WINDOW ASSEMBLY FAILS. *LN
RECALL 2004 FORD F-150 POWER WINDOW REGULATORS. REAR DRIVERS PASSENGER WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE PARKED. THE THIRD WINDOW DOWN IN THE LAST 15 MONTHS. *TR
WINDOW REGULATORS FAILING REPEATEDLY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE MY F150 STARTED TO POWER DOWN, VIBRATE AND SHAKE. DURING THIS TIME, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME ALBEIT RUNNING VERY ROUGHLY. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BRING MY TRUCK, THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT MORNING. ON DEC 11 I WAS ABLE TO GET MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FINALLY HAVING THE SOLID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON THAT MORNING. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAYING I HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM, I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I WAS ABLE TO SPEAK WITH THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID AFTER PULLING THE 1ST SPARK PLUG IT SHATTERED UPON REMOVAL. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE PARTS OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD, BUT DID NOTICE THE BOTTOM OF THE SPARK PLUG WAS BENT BACKWARDS. THEY USED AN ENGINE SCOPE TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE DAMAGE TO THE PISTON HEAD ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. WHEN I ASKED HIM WHAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN, HE COULDN'T GIVE ME AN ANSWER, SAYING IN ALL HIS YEARS, HE'S NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. I PROCEEDED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC TO SEE IF HE SAW THE SAME THING. HE CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION AS THE FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN NEVER HAVING SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE AND COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP A NEW ENGINE WOULD COST AROUND 7500 FOR MY TRUCK. IN THE YEARS THAT I'VE OWNED THE TRUCK, I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON ONE TIME. AFTER CHECKING THE OWNERS MANUAL, IT STATED IT COULD BE NUMEROUS THINGS INCLUDING A LOOSE GAS CAP OR POSSIBLE WATER IN THE GAS LINE. IF THE LIGHT GOES OUT AFTER A COUPLE OF CYCLES OF GAS, WHICH IT DID, NO NEED TO FOLLOW THROUGH. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE FORD MECHANIC AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BOTH SAID I SHOULD'VE HEARD SOMETHING. I NEVER HEARD ANY SOUNDS IN THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD'VE PROMPTED CONCERNS FOR A COMPLETE ENGINE OVERHAUL. NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER INDICATED A SEVERE ENGINE PROBLEM AND THUS PUTTING MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AT GREAT RISK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 55 MPH, FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR WITH A LOUD SLAM. UNABLE TO USE THE WINDOW CONTROLS TO RAISE THE WINDOW. THIS IS THE 4TH DIFFERENT WINDOW IN THIS VEHICLE AND FINAL WINDOW TO GO WITHIN A YEAR AND A HALF. THIS IS A 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCREW AND THE DEALER STATES IT IS THE WINDOW REGULATOR AS WAS THE CASE IN THE OTHER WINDOW FAILURES. THEY SAY THE REGULATOR PART (SMALL PLASTIC PIECE) THAT FAILS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, HOWEVER THEY NO LONGER MAKE THAT PART, THEY HAVE CHANGED MANUFACTURES AND THE NEW PART SHOULD NOT DO THIS. THE MOTOR AND THE REGULATOR ARE STILL GOOD, HOWEVER YOU MUST PURCHASE BOTH OF THESE IN ORDER TO GET THE NEW PLASTIC PIECE, WHICH IS NOW AN ALL INCLUSIVE PART AROUND 200.00 AT DEALER. *TRF
2004 FORD F-150 POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILS ON BOTH WINDOWS. ONE FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THE OTHER FAILED WHILE THE TRUCK WAS PARKED. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE ALLOT OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING BUT,YET YOU HAVE NOT FORCED FORD TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I OWN A 2004 F 150 4 DOOR SUPERCREW AND ALL 4 WINDOWS REGULATORS HAVE FAILED ON THEIR OWN. I HAD THREE FAIL WITHIN DAYS OF EACH OTHER ABOUT A YEAR AGO. NOW, TODAY THE FOURTH ONE FAILED. EACH TIME ONE FAILED I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND THE WINDOW SLAMS DOWN SCARING THE HECK OUT OF ME. LUCKILY I'VE BEEN ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY TRUCK. THE PROBLEM IS ALWAYS THE STEEL CABLE GETS KINKED UP ON ITS OWN AND SNAPS OR KINKS UP SO BAD IT CAN NOT BE REUSED. EACH TIME ITS A 300 DOLLAR FIX SO WHEN I REPLACE THIS LAST ONE I'LL BE ABOUT 1200 DOLLARS OUT. I FINALLY LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON AND FORD WILL NOT OWN UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. I DON'T KNOW IT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW BY FORD OR THE SUPPLIER TO FORD THAT MAKES THE WINDOW REGULATOR BUT I DO KNOW THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL AND THAT YOU CANNOT BUY THE PARTS YOU NEED EXCEPT AT FORD PARTS DEALERS ONLY. SINCE FORD DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM I AM NEVER BUYING ANOTHER FORD. *TR
IN 2009 I HAD A WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED IN THE REAR OF MY 2004 F150 FX4 BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT THIS YEAR IN JUNE THE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR BEHIND THE DRIVER HAD TO BE REPLACED, AND NOW IN NOVEMBER THE REAR PASSENGER REGULATOR HAS AGAIN FAILED IN LESS THAT 18 MONTHS. IN BOTH INSTANCES THEY WERE REPLACED UNDER A WARRANTY I BOUGHT AT HALL FORD IN NEWPORT NEWS AND PAID EACH TIME A $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I FIND IT UNREASONABLE THAT A PART WOULD FAIL THREE TIME IN 17 MONTHS AND SINCE FORD IS THE ONLY COMPANY THAT MAKES THE PART I CAN FIND I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO GET ANOTHER FORD BRANDED PART THAT I FEEL WILL JUST ONCE AGAIN FAIL ON ME. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS ON NOT ONLY FORUMS, BUT THE NHTSA HAS RECEIVED MANY REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE. AFTER CONTACTING FORD DIRECTLY AND GETTING CANNED RESPONSES THAT THERE IS "NO RECALL" "NO PROGRAMS" AND "NO WARRANTY". I FEEL AS IF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH EITHER THE DESIGN OF THE PART OR THE MATERIALS USED IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE PART THAT IS CAUSING SOME KIND OF FAULT RESULTING IN THE FAILURE AND ULTIMATELY THE REPLACEMENT OF THE WINDOW REGULATOR WITH A FORD PART ONLY OF THE SAME DESIGN. *TR

ACCELERATING THROUGH 60MPH, HEARD LOUD ENGINE NOISE, WITH SUBSEQUENT ROUGH RUNNING AND HEAVY VIBRATIONS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO FOUND THREE BROKEN/BLOWN OUT SPARK PLUGS/COILS, WHICH WERE REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS PRECEDING THIS INCIDENT, TWO SPARK PLUGS DISINTEGRATED UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. ALL SPARK PLUGS HAD BEEN INSTALLED ABOUT 30,000 MILES BEFORE THE FIRST INCIDENT. *TR
IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THREE WINDOWS IN MY 2004 F-150. THE WINDOWS WOULD JUST FALL INSIDE THE DOOR AND THE MECHANISM NO LONGER WORKED. AS I RESEARCHED ONLINE, I NOTICED THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. THE DRIVERS WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED WHILE DRIVING, AND THE WINDOW CAME CRASHING DOWN. I WAS NOT USING OR ADJUSTING THE WINDOW IN ANY WAY PRIOR TO FAILURE. THE WEATHER WAS COLD AND WET LEAVING WATER DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR AND CAUSING DIFFICULTY DRIVING IN THE ADVERSE CONDITIONS. I WAS NOT DRESSED TO BE IN 60 MPH COLD BLASTING AIR AND MY HANDS WERE HAVING PROBLEMS STEERING. THE DEALER DID NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. FORD CONTACTED ME AND ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY BUT ONLY WANTED TO PAY FOR 50% OF THE REPAIR COST. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. MY VEHICLE HAS VERY LOW MILES AND IS IN LIKE NEW CONDITION. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE WITH THE REGULATOR, I WAS AMAZED THAT THERE ARE MANY THOUSANDS OF FORD OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. AND '04-08 F150'S HAVE THE VAST MAJORITY OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. MANY HAVE HAD MULTIPLE WINDOWS FAIL. I HAD TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR MYSELF AS THE COSTS TO GET THIS DONE IS OVER $500 AT THE DEALER, AND OVER $400 AT A REPAIR SHOP. WHEN I REMOVED THE REGULATOR I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW POORLY THE PARTS WERE MADE. THE DESIGN LOOKS TO BE FLAWED AS WELL. CLIPS THAT CAN FALL OFF. CABLES THAT CAN FALL OFF SMALL PLASTIC WHEELS. AND THE POWER MOTOR REELS TWO CABLES UP TOGETHER. THIS IS GOING TO BIND UP AND FAIL IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE MOTOR REEL HAD BOTH CABLES TANGLED WHEN I PULLED IT OUT. IT APPEARS TO BE DESIGNED TO FAIL. THIS IS A VERY HEAVY PIECE OF GLASS, AND THE MECHANISM SUPPORTING THIS ASSEMBLY IS COMPLETELY INSUFFICIENT. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT IT WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR EXTENDED USE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH IN MY 2004 FORD 150 WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. FOUND A SPARK PLUG HAD BEEN COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE. I HAVE DONE SOME READING AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD'S TRITON ENGINES. COIL PACK WAS SPARKING WHICH COULD HAVE LED TO A SERIOUS ENGINE FIRE. PLEASE HAVE FORD FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO NORTHEAST ALABAMA, MY 2004 F-150 4X4 WITH A 4.6 LITER ENGINE, BLOW THE # 2 SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE ENGINE. I GOT THE TRUCK BACK TO MY GIRLFRIENDS HOME IN NORTHEAST GA. AND THIS IS WHERE I'M STILL AT. THE DEALER I CALLED TOLD ME THAT THE PLUG WAS AT FAULT BEFORE I COULD EVEN FINISH TELLING HIM WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT $2,800.00 TO REPLACE THE HEAD ON THAT SIDE... I ASKED HIM "IF IT WAS THE PLUG AT FAULT AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE TRUCK YET, HOW DO YOU KNOW IT'S GOING TO TAKE A REPLACEMENT HEAD AND THE COST OF IT"? HE PUT ME ON HOLD AND AFTER 20 MINUTES I HUNG UP AND CALLED BACK AND NO ONE WOULD TALK TO ME ABOUT IT..!! SINCE THEN, I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND THAT NOT ONLY HAS IT HAPPENED TO OTHERS, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED TO ALOT OF OTHERS...!! I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO YOUR AGENCY MANY TIMES AND TO DATE, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. WHEN THIS PLUG BLOW OUT OF THE HEAD, FUEL WAS BEING PUSHED OUT OF THE HEAD AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. AT SPEEDS ON INTERSTATES AS HIGH AS THEY ARE, MY GIRLFRIEND, MYSELF AND OUT 2 DOGS COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED..!!!! SO WHY IS YOUR AGENCY NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM...!!!?????!!!!

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE SITTING IN THE IDLE POSITION, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER WHO SENT HIM A PACKET TO COMPLETE REGARDING THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-70, WESTBOUND THROUGH ILLINOIS, MY FORD F-150 BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND WAS BARELY CONTROLLABLE. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS WARNING OF ANY KIND THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK. I MANAGED TO GET TO AN EXIT AND GOT THE TRUCK TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER, IN THE SMALL TOWN OF GREENVILLE, IL. THE FORD MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. AT LEAST TWO VALVE STEMS HAD BROKEN AND THE VALVES HAD FALLEN INTO THE CYLINDERS. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE BUT SHOWED ME A FEW OF THE PARTS THEY HAD REMOVED (A BROKEN VALVE SPRING, PIECES OF VALVE STEM AND A FROZEN ROCKER ARM). THE ENGINE HAD BEEN SCRUPULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND THE OIL AND FILTER WERE CHANGED AT LEAST EVERY 5000 MILES. THE ENGINE WAS CLEAN AND THERE WAS PLENTY OF OIL. I HAVE SINCE SEEN SEVERAL ON-LINE POSTS ABOUT THIS ENGINE (FORD'S 5.4 LITER V-8 GAS) FAILING DUE TO FAULTY VALVE SPRINGS FAILING. I BELIEVE THIS ENGINE HAS SERIOUS FLAWS THAT MIGHT CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS IF ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENS AT HIGH SPEED IN TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC WHEN THE FAILURE HAPPENED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY DROPPED INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE WINDOW TRACK INSIDE THE DOOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW TRACKS WERE REPLACED. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW TRACKS WERE NOT REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

I HAVE A 2004 FORD F-150 LARIAT SUPERCREW 4 DOOR TRUCK. EACH OF THE PAST 3 YEARS I'VE HAD 3 WINDOW REGULATORS BREAK. TO THE DAY THEY ARE STILL NOT FIXED BECAUSE OF COST ISSUES,ALMOST $200 EACH NOT INCLUDING THE $140 LABOR BILL. WHAT BREAKS IS THE PLASTIC PART THAT THE CABLE IS CONNECTED TO. THE FIRST 2 WINDOW REGULATORS BROKE QUIETLY WHILE THE 3RD ONE MADE 2 LOUD POPS AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN. IT IS NOW WINTER AND I HOPE THE 4TH AND FINAL WINDOW DOESN'T BREAK. THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THEY ARE SOLD AS A WHOLE UNIT,MOTOR,TRACK AND CABLE. THE MOTORS DON'T GO BAD, THE PLASTIC PIECE IN THE TRACK BREAKS. CURRENTLY I HAVE PLASTIC PVC PIPE PROPPING THE WINDOW UP ON THE 3 WINDOWS. VERY MUCH AN INCONVENIENCE WHEN YOU DRIVE UP TO A DRIVE THRU WINDOW AND NEVER KNOW WHEN YOUR WINDOWS GOING TO GIVE OUT. *TR
THE #3 SPARK PLUG WAS EJECTED FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. UPON INSPECTION, THE THREADS WERE STRIPPED AND DAMAGED BEYOND BELIEF. AFTER TAPPING THE WHOLE, THE PLUG WAS ABLE TO BE REPLACED. A MONTH LATER, THE #7 PLUG DID THE SAME THING BEING EJECTED FROM THE ENGINE. ANOTHER ROUND OF FIXING BUT THIS TIME THE REPAIR WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. THE NEW PLUG DID NOT STAY IN. BOTH OF THE OLD PLUGS ARE IN PIECES WITH MOST OF THE PARTS LOST TO THE ROADWAY BELOW. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE A FAULTY PLASTIC PIECE IN THEM CAUSING THE WINDOW TO JUST DROP UNEXPECTANTLY. I HAVE READ IN SOME CASES THE WINDOW BREAKS. I HAVE HAD TWO BAD REGULATORS GO OUT NOW IN AN 8 WEEK PERIOD AND HAVE A FOUR DOOR TRUCK. I'M SURE THE OTHER TWO ARE SOON TO FOLLOW *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE INSIDE OF BOTH FRONT TIRES WAS WEARING UNEVENLY. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRES AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO HAVE AN ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALIGNMENT COULD NOT BE DONE BECAUSE BOTH FRONT BALL JOINTS WERE WORN. THE BALL JOINTS WERE NOT REPLACED BUT THE TIRES WERE BALANCED AND ALIGNED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 64,460.
