TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE DISINTEGRATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
IN LOW SPEED AND HIGH SPEED TURNS, POWER RACK AND PINION, THE STEERING BECOMES VERY STIFF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TURN HARD, FEELS LIKE THE TRUCK HAS MANUAL STEERING. THIS ISSUE IS MOST COMMON ON SLOW SPEED HOWEVER I HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE ISSUE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. RESEARCH I HAVE DONE INDICATES THIS IS AN ISSUE, BACKED BY A MEMBER OF A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT, OF A FAILURE OF THE UNIVERSAL ON THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT. THE PART # FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART IS AS FOLLOWS... #8L32-3B676-B. FORD DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS YET, I'M A DEPUTY SHERIFF WHO HAS KNOWLEDGE OF FORD RECALLING THE SAME TYPE PART ON THE FORD POLICE INTERCEPTORS WHICH WE CURRENTLY USE IN OUR FLEET. THIS LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL IS VERY SEVERE. *TR
ON PREPARING TO CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS, I NOTICED THE FRONT LEFT COIL SPRING HAS SNAPPED. AFTER CHECKING ON LINE AND MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, IT SEEMS THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON ON 2004 FORD F150 VEHICLES, AND IT INDICATES THAT FORD IS NOT PREPARED TO ASSIST CUSTOMERS, EVEN THOUGH THEY REALIZE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. PHOTOGRAPH AVAILABLE IF NEEDED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP ADVISES THEY NEED TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT ROAD SPRINGS AT A COST OF $575.00, BUT THE SHOCK ABSORBERS MIGHT NEED REPLACING ALSO WHICH WOULD BE ADDITIONAL MONIES. A BROKEN ROAD SPRING ON THE FRONT CAN SEVERELY EFFECT THE HANDLING AND SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD, AND I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. *TR
THE ENGINE BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT MY GRANDFATHER BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW IT NEVER HAD THEM REMOVED BEFORE IT DID NOT COME LOSE IT BLEW THREADS AND ALL OUT DO YOUR GOD DAM JOB MAKE FORD FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED FROM A FIRE OVER THIS WHEN THE PLUG POPS OUT IT BLOWS FUEL OUT ON THE COIL PACK WITH IT WITH IT SHOOTING LIGHTING BOLTS IF I HAD BEEN A PERSON WITH NO MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE IT WOULD HAVE GOT BAD I POPPED THE HOOD AND FLAMES WERE POPPING OUT AROUND THE COIL PACK THAT IS BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF THE FUEL RAIL IF I HAD DROVE THE TRUCK OR HAD BEEN ON THE FREEWAY THAT FUEL RAIL WOULD HAVE BEEN BUSTED THEN A FIRE BALL I CAN SEND U PICKS OR MAKE A VIDEO OF THE COIL PACK SMACKING THE FUEL RAIL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WAS ALSO SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE COILS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL TANK WAS FOUND TO BE CORRODED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAPS WERE ALSO CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HAVING AN OIL CHANGE, THE ENGINE FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,207.
ON MY 2004 FORD F150 XLT LARIAT SUPERCAB, THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW REGULATOR HAS NOW FAILED. THE DRIVER'S ONE WENT FIRST (WITHIN THREE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP), THEN THE FRONT PASSENGER ONE (A FEW MONTHS LATER) THEN THE REAR PASSENGER ONE ( ABOUT A YEAR AFTER THE FIRST) AND NOW THIS. ALL FOUR REGULATORS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED FROM THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED ONES. THIS LATEST ONE OCCURRED WHILE THE TRUCK SAT PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY UNOCCUPIED; ALL THE OTHERS HAPPENED ON THE ROADWAY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. *TR
THIS IS MY SECOND WINDOW REGULATOR TO BREAK. THE FIRST WAS THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY AT 60 MPH I HEARD A POP AND THEN AIR NOISE. (I SELDOM USE THE REAR WINDOWS.) THE MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE REGULATOR AND MOTOR BECAUSE THAT WAS ALL THE DEALER HAD IN STOCK. TODAY I HAD WINDOW DOWN ABOUT AN INCH WHILE PARKED. GOT IN TRUCK AND RAISED FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW AND HEARD POP. I KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM FROM LAST TIME AND WITH TALKING TO OTHER FORD TRUCK OWNERS. A FRIEND HAS THE SAME MODEL TRUCK AND HAS REPLACE THREE OF THE FOUR REGULATORS IN HIS FORD TRUCK. WHEN I BEGAN DRIVING THE WINDOW DROPPED. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN HARD OR OFF ROAD. THERE HAS TO BE SOME FLAW IN THESE REGULATORS. I AM 66 YEARS OLD AND HAVE OWNED MANY DIFFERENT MAKES AND MODEL OF VEHICLES AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON THREAD FOR THESE FORD TRUCKS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE BRAKE LINES FRACTURED MORE THAN TWICE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD EXTENSIVE RUST AND CORROSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LINE FRACTURED ON THE FIRST OCCASION. ON THE SECOND OCCASION, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINE FRACTURED. THE PARTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH BOTH REAR BRAKE LINES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
STEERING BECOMES STIFF, WILL NOT TURN WITHOUT EXCESSIVE FORCE AND IF IN TURN REQUIRES EXCESSIVE FORCE TO RETURN TO NEUTRAL POSITION. WHEN TURN IT WILL HANG AND FORCING CAUSES OVER STEER. ACCORDING TO INTER CHAT THE FIX WAS TO LUBRICATE THE STEERING COLUMN UNIVERSAL JOINT ABOVE STEERING PUMP IN ENGINE ROOM. DID THIS, WAS GOOD UNTIL MAY 2014 AND SUDDENLY RETURN, LUBRICATION NOT WORKING SO WELL THIS TIME. THIS WOULD CAUSE MY WIFE TO WRECK, IT COULD CAUSE AND MAY HAVE CAUSED ACCIDENTS. APPEARS TO BE COMMON ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BECAUSE MANY COMPLAINTS ON LOGGED ON WEB SITES. *TR
BROUGHT TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO HIT PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND SEEMED TO BE SITTING LOW. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP REMOVED FRONT WHEELS IT WAS DISCOVERED THE BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS HAD BEEN BROKEN. BOTH SPRINGS WERE BROKEN DIAGONAL AT THE BASE WHERE IT SITS IN THE STRUT. WAS TOLD THAT THE SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER FOR A PROPER ALIGNMENT TO BE COMPLETED. FURTHER RESEARCH ONLINE SHOWS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE IN THE FORD F-150. TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN TAKEN OFF ROAD OR DRIVEN HARD. TRUCK IS TAKEN WELL CARE OF. *TR
I AM SO MAD. I THOUGHT I WAS DEALING WITH A GREAT STORE. NOT. FIRST I FIND OUT THAT THE TIRES THAT THEY SOLD BE ARE RATED FOR CARS, NOT FULL SIZE TRUCKS. IM DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT RAINING. IM HYDROPLANING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND HE TELLS ME THAT WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE WERE NOT KILLED. I HAD A DEFECTIVE TIRES. AND I NEED TO GOT ASAP AND HAVE THEM REPLACED. DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR WENT OUT. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD APPX 45 MPH AND THE WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN. STARTLED ME SOME BUT WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THIS WILL BE SECOND ONE REPLACED SINCE I HAD THE VEHICLE WHICH I PURCHASED BRAND NEW. NOT ONE TO USUALLY COMPLAIN BUT APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM FROM EARLY ON IN IT'S YEARS. THANK YOU! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I WAS DOING A DAY TRIP HAULING HORSES BY MYSELF WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO HEAD HOME WHEN I HEARD THIS TERRIBLE NOISE AND SOON WATCHED THE REAR RIGHT WINDOW DISAPPEAR AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. I TOOK IT INTO FORD TODAY AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $300 TO FIX BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE IN STOCK AND THAT IT WAS THE REGULATOR THAT WENT OUT. I HAD THEM CHECK THE RIGHT FRONT WINDOW AS WELL AS IT WOULD GO DOWN BUT WOULD NOT GO UP USING THAT DOOR WINDOW SWITCH AND THAT THE SWITCH NEEDS REPLACED AND THAT WOULD BE $130 DOLLARS AND AGAIN PART WAS NOT IN STOCK SO COULD NOT REPLACE. SO WHEN I WENT IN TO GET MY TRUCK ALL OF A SUDDEN I FIND OUT THAT OTHER THAN THE OIL CHANGE WHICH I EXPECTED MY BILL JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AND OIL CHANGE WAS OVER $190.00 AND MY WINDOWS WERE NOT FIXED YET AND NOT TOLD AHEAD OF TIME WHAT THE CHARGE MIGHT BE SO THE EXTRA $150 WAS TOTALLY NOT BUDGETS. BUT HAD TO PAY AS I NEEDED MY TRUCK TO GET HOME. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT MY BROTHER IN LAWS TRUCK ALSO A 2004 HAD A VIN NUMBER SET THAT FORD DID REPLACE THE REGULATOR BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER. NOW THAT REALLY UPSET US A LOT ESPECIALLY FINDING OUT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT WE COULD HAVE ISSUES WITH THE OTHER THREE WINDOWS. FORD REALLY NEEDS TO RECALLED ALL 2004 F150 DOOR REGULATORS BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS HURT AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF GLASS WAS TO BREAK IF IT HAD HAPPENED WHILE IN ROUTE. PLUS WAS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY SO EVIDENTLY THE WARRANTY COMPANIES ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IF THEY EXCLUDE IT. *TR
WE HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN OUR TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER FOR REGULAR SERVICE. TOOK IT TO A 3RD PARTY MECHANIC TO HAVE BRAKES DONE AND THEY SHOWED US THAT BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE BROKEN, COMPLETELY SEVERED AND HAD BEEN THAT WAY FOR QUITE A WHILE EVIDENT BY RUST AND CORROSION AT BREAKING POINT. AFTER READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR. I AM DOING SEPARATE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SPARK PLUGS AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD ISSUES. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD LOUD NOISE AND TRUCK CAME TO A STOP, PULLED OFF SAFELY TO SIDE OF THE ROAD FOUND OUT IT WAS MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. ONLY HAVE HAD TRUCK FOR 5 MONTHS NOW NEEDS A BRAND NEW ENGINE. *TR
I STARTED UP MY TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY AND BEGAN TO LOWER THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS WHEN THE DRIVERSIDE WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN. *TR
MY TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. THIS MORNING WHEN I CRANKED UP THE TRUCK, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITH NO WARNING. THERE WAS NO CRASH OR PREVIOUS INCIDENT SUCH AS HITTING SOMETHING WEEKS AND MONTHS BEFORE THIS. SOME RECALLS FOR THE DRIVER SIDE SUGGEST THAT A DASH LIGHT WILL INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG, HOWEVER, THIS WAS NOT THE CASE FOR MY TRUCK. THE AIRBAG SHATTERED THE WINDSHIELD SENDING SMALL PIECES OF GLASS FLYING ON THE INSIDE AND EXTERIOR OF THE TRUCK. BESIDES THE SHOCK, HOURS LATER MY HEARING IS STILL NOT THE SAME ON MY RIGHT SIDE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE WINDOW MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,835. *TR UPDATED 7/15/13 *CN
REPLACED TWO WINDOW REGULATORS IN VEHICLE. DRIVER'S WINDOWN AND PASSENGER WINDOW.
AS I WAS BACKING UPWARD INTO MY GARAGE, I SLOWED DOWN AND THE TRUCK ROLLED FORWARD AND I QUICKLY PRESSED THE GAS TO RESUME BACKWARDS. THIS CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON ALONG WITH MY OD/OFF INDICATORS ON THE DASHBOARD. MY REVERSE GEAR STOPPED PULLING. I'M AFRAID HAD THIS BEEN IN ROUTE IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE SERIOUS OF AN ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL ASSEMBLERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000. *TR
WHILE STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP NOTICED A RUMBLING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR END. I HAD THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID REPLACED, U-JOINTS CHECKED, AND BRAKES INSPECTED. (HAVE HAD THIS DONE 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS AT A COST OF SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS)I MENTIONED THIS PROBLEM DURING A CASUAL CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND WHO HAPPENED TO BE A RETIRED FORD MECHANIC. HE TOLD ME THAT WHILE HE WAS WITH FORD AS A MECHANIC HE REPLACED OR REBUILT NUMEROUS REAR SLIP DIFFERENTIALS, AND THAT IT WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WITH THE 2004 F-150, AND THAT I SHOULD INVESTIGATE IT FURTHER. I WENT ON-LINE AND FOUND MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2004 F-150 REGARDING REAR SLIP DIFFERENTIAL \WITH VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR PROBLEMS. OBVIOUSLY FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR A VERY LONG TIME, AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT EXCEPT TO OFFER LAME EXCUSES AND CHARGE EXORBITANT PRICES FOR REPAIRS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE REAR END LOCKING UP AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND CAUSING A FATAL ACCIDENT. WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN REQUIRED? *TR

I OWN A 2004 FORD F150 4-DOOR P/U. OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOW IN MY FORD F150 HAVE FALLIN AT DIFFERENT TIMES ( WINDOW REGULATOR ). FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND I WAS TOLD THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, WERE NOT GOING TO ISSUE A RECALL. THIS WEEK MY 4TH WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL AGAIN WHILE IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT. I ADVISED FORD THIS WAS UNSAFE AND HOW CAN ANYONE SECURE A VEHICLE WITH FAULTY WINDOW REGULATORS. SOMEONE COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE IF THIS OCCURS DURING DRIVING AND THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR
THE 3RD OUT OF 4 DOOR WINDOWS FELL INTO THE DRIVER'S FRONT DOOR - REGULATOR ASSEMBLY. LOUD BANG BEFORE THEY FELL. SCARED ME - THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD THROWN A LARGE ROCK AT MY VEHICLE. THIS IS THE 3RD TO FAIL WITHIN 8 MONTHS (LAST 2 ON THE SAME DAY IN JULY 2012). REPAIR COST WAS $245.00. THERE IS STILL NO RECALL ON THESE REGULATOR ASSEMBLIES, ALTHOUGH HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD FOR REIMBURSEMENT, AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. *TR
DRIVING UP A HILL AT ABOUT 35MPH , AND NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING . IT KEEP GOING IN AND OUT OF GEAR . FINALLY THE OD SHUT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK TO MY HOUSE . LUCKILY I WAS ONLY 4 BLOCKS AWAY .AFTER DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DEALERSHIP , IT TURNS OUT THAT THE OD RETAINER CLIP WENT OUT ,TOOK OUT MY 2ND GEAR AND CRACKED THE HOUSING . FROM LOOKING ONLINE THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD IS NOT AKNOWLEDGING . *TR
GOT INTO VEHICLE, STARTED, AND IMMEDIATELY LOUD POPPING SOUNDS CAME FROM UNDER THE ENGINE, AND WORSE WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE. LUCKILY HAD 2 HOBBY MECHANICS, THAT I WORK WITH, COME TAKE A LOOK. THEY IMMEDIATELY DETERMINED THAT ONE OF MY SPARK PLUGS HAD BACKED-OUT. THEY TOOK THE COVER OFF AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE 1ST SPARK PLUG, AND LUCKILY THE THREADS WERE IN GOOD SHAPE. PUT SPARK PLUG BACK IN, AND VEHICLE STARTED FINE AFTER THAT. I TRAVEL 45 MILES ONE WAY TO/FROM WORK. IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, COULD LEAVE ME STRANDED. 2ND LUCK, NO REPAIR COST. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT THE DEALER WOULD HAVE CHARGED. IN ADDITION, 2 WEEKS LATER, I HAD THE 3RD (2 PREVIOUS WERE IN FRONT RIGHT & REAR DRIVER WINDOW) OUT OF 4 DOOR WINDOWS FALL INTO THE DOOR. THIS TIME IT WAS THE DRIVER'S FRONT DOOR - REGULATOR ASSEMBLY. LOUD BANG BEFORE THEY FELL. SCARED ME - THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD THROWN A LARGE ROCK AT MY VEHICLE. THIS IS THE 3RD TO FAIL WITHIN 8 MONTHS (LAST 2 ON THE SAME DAY IN JULY 2012). TOTAL REPAIR COST ON WINDOWS WAS $900.00. THERE IS STILL NO RECALL ON THE SPARK PLUG PROBLEM, AND THE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY PROBLEMS, ALTHOUGH HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD FOR COMPLAINT & REIMBURSEMENT, AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. IT'S VERY OBVIOUS, IT'S TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DOING 65 WHEN MY TRUCK LOST POWER... I BARLEY COASTED OUR OF TRAFFIC AND PULLED OVER. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, OIL WAS NOT LOW AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMED FINE. HAD TO TOW IT TO A MECHANIC TO FIND OUT THE ENGINE IS LOCKED UP. APPARENTLY THE CAM PHASERS IN THIS ENGINE ARE JUNK AND GO OUT VERY FREQUENTLY CAUSING MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEMS. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED! THESE ENGINE ARE VERY EXPENSIVE TO REBUILD OR REPLACE. *TR
BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 150000 AND 160000 MILES ON MY FORD F150 THERE HAVE BEEN THREE INCIDIENTS OF SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT STARTING WITH THE 3RD, THE 1ST, THEN THE 2ND CYLINDER ON THE RIGHT SIDE/PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEED, THE HOOD LIFTED VIOLENTLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK SAFELY. THE PORTION OF THE HOOD WHICH SECURES THE HOOD STRIKER GAVE WAY, ALLOWING THE HOOD TO OPEN SO VIOLENTLY THAT THE GRILLE FLEW OFF. THE HOOD WAS PROPERLY CLOSED/LATCHED BEFORE THE INCIDENT, AND THE STRIKER WAS STILL IN THE LATCH (COMPLETE WITH PIECES OF ALUMINUM TORN OFF OF THE HOOD) AFTER THE INCIDENT. IT APPEARS THAT GALVANIC CORROSION (STEEL STRIKER ON ALUMINUM HOOD) LIKELY CAUSED THE ISSUE. SINCE THIS TRUCK IS IN A FLEET, THE REMAINDER OF THE F-150S OF THE SAME BODY STYLE (MY2008 AND OLDER) WERE CHECKED, 65 OF 580 TRUCKS HAD EITHER CRACKING OR CORROSION AROUND THE STRIKER BAR WHICH MAY LEAD TO THIS ISSUE. NOTE - THIS IS AN ONTARIO, CANADA FLEET BUT THESE ISSUES LIKELY AFFECT US-SOLD VEHICLES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCAB DOWN THE STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD ON MY WAY TO WORK. I ROLLED UP THE POWER WINDOWS AND HEARD A WEIRD SOUND FROM THE PASSENGER DOOR. I DECIDED TO ROLL IT BACK DOWN TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. AS SOON AS I PRESSED THE DOWN BUTTON, THE WINDOW JUST FELL RIGHT INTO THE DOOR. IT WAS A LITTLE FRIGHTENING AND COULD SEE HOW IT COULD CAUSE A WRECK IF IT HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN I GOT TO WORK, I GOT OUT TO CHECK IT OUT. I COULD STILL HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING, BUT I COULD HEAR PIECES OF GLASS AND KNEW THE WINDOW SHATTERED. *TR
THE SPARK PLUGS ON THE 5.4L 3 VALVE TRITON V8 ARE HIGHLY COMMON TO BREAK WHILE TRYING TO BACK THEM OUT AND REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT IS IT COSTING CUSTOMERS OVER $1,000.00 JUST TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS BECAUSE IF THEY BREAK OFF, THE HEAD HAS TO COME OFF SOME TIMES TO EXTRACT THE REMAINDER OF THE BROKEN PLUG. FORD HAS REFUSED TO FIX THEIR SCREW UP AND HAS STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THE NHTSA MANDATES THAT THEY FIX THE PROBLEM. I SPOKE WITH A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND HE STATED THAT AT A BARE MINIMUM FOR A SPARK PLUG CHANGE ON MY TRUCK IS $700.00 DUE TO THE ISSUE AND THAT MOST SHOPS WONT EVEN TOUCH THEM. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAW AND SAVE THEIR CUSTOMERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIR BILLS FOR A NORMAL $150.00 JOB. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER ALSO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST BEEN PROVIDED A FREE SAFETY INSPECTION OF THE FUEL TANK TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO FAILURE PRESENT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW, THIS IS THE FORTH TIME I HAVE TO HAVE WINDOW REPAIR ON MY TRUCK, PREVIOUS TIME BEFORE LAST ONE, WAS IN JULY ONLY 4 MONTHS AGO I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $300 TO REPAIR WINDOW, AND NOW LAST TIME PAID $425 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THAT VERY SAME WINDOW AND THIS TIME IS THE WINDOW REGULATOR. WINDOW WILL MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND DROP, UNABLE TO BRING IT UP OR CLOSED AGAIN. *TR

ALSO, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CIRCUIT BOARD WAS FAULTY AND WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FORD F150 WINDOW REGULATORS. FORD IS CHARGING BETWEEN $250 - $500 TO FIX THE REGULATORS PER WINDOW. SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO FIX THE SAME WINDOW MORE THAN ONCE. *TR

THIS COULD OF RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE WINDOW JUST FALLING! TWO DAYS AGO, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE WINDOWS GOING DOWN WHEN YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING IT IS SCARY. THESE WINDOWS UNEXPECTEDLY GOING DOWN CAN RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. I FEEL THAT THERE IS AN ENGINEERING DEFECT IN THESE WINDOW SYSTEMS. I HAVE BOTH ORIGINAL FORD PARTS THAT CAME OUT OF THE DOOR PANELS. I CALLED FORD, BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. *TR

STEERING BECAME QUITE STIFF AND WHEEL DID NOT RETURN AFTER CORNERING. FORD SERVICE MANAGE DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS UNIVERSAL JOINT ON STEERING SHAFT SEIZING DUE TO CORROSION.THERE ARE NO GREASE FITTINGS TO LUBRICATE THE JOINTS AND THEY ARE HAD TO REACH. FORD DEALERS DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE PARTS ON HAND FOR THIS REPAIR. I HAVE MANAGED TO LOOSEN THE JOINT WITH PENETRATING OIL IN A PUMP OILER. FOR HAS OFFERED NO SOLUTION AND THE JOINTS HAD NO PROTECTIVE RUBBER BOOT OVER THEM TO PROTECT THEM FROM CORROSION. IN ADDITION, THE COOLING LINES TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP RUSTED THROUGH POSING A DANGER OF SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSISTANT. THE COOLING LINE WAS MADE OF BARE METAL THAT WAS NOT RUST OR CORROSION RESISTANT SUCH AS GALVANIZING AND DESIGNED AS TO BE IN A VULNERABLE LOCATION UNDER THE RADIATOR BEHIND THE FRONT BUMPER. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOW COLLAPSED INTO THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING. BRIEFLY HEARD A POP/BANG IN THE DOOR THINKING SOMETHING HIT THE DOOR, THEN THE WINDOW WENT STRAIGHT DOWN WITHOUT CONTROL. NOW I HAVE NO WAY OF RETRIEVING THE WINDOW BACK UP AND SECURING IT. PLUS UNABLE TO SECURE MY VEHICLE OR KEEP THE ELEMENTS OF WEATHER OUT OF MY TRUCK. I WILL NOT USE THE TRUCK TO PICK UP MY YOU CHILDREN IN THIS CONDITION. I PRESUME THAT THIS COULD BE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITH A DISTRACTED DRIVER LOOSING ATTENTION TO DRIVING OR IN A SEVERE WEATHER CONDITION. I WILL TAKE IT TO A FORD SERVICE DEALER AND SHARE MY DISPLEASURE WITH THIS INCIDENT. FOR MY SAFETY AND EVERYONE ELSE SAFETY, I WILL GET THIS REPAIR. THIS INCIDENT IS SEVERE ENOUGH TO HURT OR KILL SOMEONE IF IT IS NOT ADDRESSED. I AM STILL SHAKING WITH FEAR WHILE TYPING THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
