FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BROKE AWAY FROM TRUCK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK BEGAN VIBRATING, PULLED OVER TO SEE IF THE TIRES WERE THE ISSUE. NOTHING APPEARED TO BE WRONG, TIRE PRESSURE WAS FINE AND NO WEIGHTS HAD FALLEN OFF. AT TIMES THE VIBRATION WAS VIOLENT, SHAKING THE WHOLE TRUCK. DROVE ANOTHER 10 MILES WITHOUT ANY ISSUES AND THE VIBRATION WOULD START AGAIN, LOOKED ON LINE AND THERE WERE SEVERAL POSTS IDENTIFYING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER FORD TRUCKS. *TR
I OWN A 2004 F150. THE TRUCK CAME WITH FACTORY STEEL WHEELS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 60,000 MILES. THE STEEL WHEELS RUSTED TO THE POINT I NO LONGER FELT SAFE DRIVING ON THE WHEELS. THE DEALER SAID NOT THEIR PROBLEM, I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. IF YOU HAVE A FORD WITH STEEL WHEELS BE SURE TO CHECK FOR RUST. CALL FORD AND ASK FOR A RECALL.
ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2013 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY, I FELT SEVERAL "THUMPS" PRIOR TO THE REAR LEFT TIRE ON MY F-150 BLOW. THERE WAS NO LOAD IN THE TRUCK NOR WAS I TOWING. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET ONTO THE SHOULDER. AAA RESPONDED AND ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE. HE WAS UNABLE, AS SOME OF THE TIRE TREAD WAS WRAPPED AROUND THE AXLE. WE ALSO OBSERVED THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE BROKEN. A TOW TRUCK WAS THEN DISPATCHED TO MOVE MY F-150 TO A GARAGE. DAMAGE NOTED TO THE TRUCK WAS A SNAPPED PARKING BRAKE CABLE AND A KINKED HYDRAULIC LINE. I AUTHORIZED THE GARAGE TO REPAIR THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND GET MY TRUCK BACK ON THE ROAD. BY THE TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO GATHER THE REPAIR PARTS, IT WAS THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY (DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING) WHEN I ABLE TO GET IT BACK. FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS THE BROKEN TRAILER ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ON THE BUMPER. DISCUSSIONS WITH THE TOW COMPANY AND THE GARAGE DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY FLYING RUBBER. THAT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON I TOOK THE TRUCK TO DISCOUNT TIRE TO HAVE THE DAMAGED TIRE REPLACED UNDER THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY I HAD PURCHASED FROM THEM. EXAMINATION OF THE REMAINING THREE LTX M/S TIRES REVEALED ANOTHER TIRE WITH A DELAMINATION BULGE. DISCOUNT REPLACED TWO OF THE TIRES UNDER THE WARRANTY WITH LTX M/S2?S, AND I PURCHASED TWO MORE. I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY MORE RISKS WITH THE REMAINING LTX M/S'S. *TR
I AM SO MAD. I THOUGHT I WAS DEALING WITH A GREAT STORE. NOT. FIRST I FIND OUT THAT THE TIRES THAT THEY SOLD BE ARE RATED FOR CARS, NOT FULL SIZE TRUCKS. IM DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT RAINING. IM HYDROPLANING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND HE TELLS ME THAT WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE WERE NOT KILLED. I HAD A DEFECTIVE TIRES. AND I NEED TO GOT ASAP AND HAVE THEM REPLACED. IM ON MY WAY NOW TO GO AND DEAL WITH THEM. I COUNTED ON THEM TO KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE. JUST BECAUSE I AM A WOMEN THEY SOLD ME SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150 EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DISCOVERER ATR TIRES, TIRE SIZE 265-70-17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES EXHIBITED EXCESSIVE CRACKS AND WERE DRY ROTTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE CENTER WHERE THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE A REFUND FOR THE DEFECTIVE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBERS WERE UNAVAILABLE.
FACTORY CHROME PLATED WHEELS ON 2004 FORD F150 RUST PREMATURELY CAUSING LOSS OF AIR AND/OR BLOWOUT. THE DESIGN CAUSES POOLING OF WATER THAT CAN NOT ESCAPE, CAUSING THE WHEEL TO RUST OUT PREMATURELY. *TR
DRIVING 70MPH WHEN REAR WHEEL CAME OFF. THOUGHT LUG BOLTS CAME LOSE (USE TO WORKING ON EURO CARS) SO WENT TO GET TIRE ABOUT 300 YARDS DOWN OTHER SIDE OR ROAD. JACK UP TRUCK, PUT TIRE BACK ON, WENT AROUND TRUCK TO BORROW OTHER WHEELS LUG BOLTS, REALIZED F-150 TAKES STUDS AND NUTS NOT BOLTS WHEN I REMOVED A NUT NOT A BOLT. WENT BACK TO LOOK AT THE HOLES IN THE ROTOR THAT LOOKED LIKE THEY TOOK BOLTS AND NOW I REALIZE THAT ALL SIX BOLTS ARE COMPLETELY SHEARED OFF PAST THE ROTORS! THERE ARE LITTLE NUBS POKING OUT OF THE HUB. NOT A FUN DAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 F-150. HE STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRES BECAME FLAT DUE TO A VALVE STEM FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED PREVIOUS REPAIRS UNDER AN UNKNOWN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. THE DEALER ADVISED THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLACE THE TIRE BECAUSE IT WAS INCLUDED IN AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER'S RECALL YET WHEN THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 35,200.
GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRE FAILURE. I HAVE 235/17/70 TIRES ON MY F150. THE SIDEWALLS ARE PEELING, REVEALING WHITE... I HAVE HAD TWO SIDEWALL FAILURES RESULTING IN HIGHWAY BLOWOUTS. THE REMAINING TWO TIRES APPEAR TO BE DESTINED FOR THE SAME FATE. ADDITIONALLY, THE TREAD IS SHOWING PREMATURE WEAR. I WILL BE REPLACING THE TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND. *TR

WHILE WASHING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE ROTTING AN INCH DOWN FROM THE TREAD. HE EMAILED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE TIRES TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER DID NOT STATE WHY THE TIRES WERE ROTTING. ANOTHER DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS BF GOODRICH TIRES. THE TIRES HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED AT THIS TIME. DRIVING ON 115TH ST AND I -57 OVERPASS IN CHICAGO & LEFT FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY CAME OFF WHEN THE A-FRAME BROKE AND WENT ACROSS 2 LANES OF TAFFIC . THIS IS A 2004 FORD F-150 WITH 59,354 MILES. NO WARNING WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE SLID TO THE RAILROAD TRACK AND FLIPPED SIDEWAYS PARALLEL TO THE TRACKS AND RT. FRONT SIDE A-FRAME BROKE. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE AND BACK OF CAB HIT BED AND CREASED ABOUT AN INCH DEEP, BUCKLED THE BED ABOVE THE WHEEL 3 INCHES. BENT THE FRAME & INS. CO. SAID IT WAS NOT TOTALED BUT HAS BEEN 10 WEEKS PLUS AND THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON IT. NO OTHER VEHICLE INVOLVED. FORD REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT. THE DEALER WOULD NOT TURN IN A CLAIM ON THE COMPRHENSIVE WARRANTY FOR 72 MO OR 100,00 MILES. SO WE ARE STUCK AGAIN-NO VEHICLE FOR OVER 10 WEEKS AND STILL NOT REPAIRED. BODY SHOP IS STILL PUTTING PARTS ON IT. HOW MANY OTHERS HAS HAD THIS HAPPEN? *JB
FIRST - TIRE NOT LISTED ON THIS COMPLAINT FORM - CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC OWL P255/65R17. DRIVING 60MPH ON 2-LANE HWY - SAW SMOKE & THEN FRONT RIGHT TIRE POPPED. TRUCK PULLED HARD TO RIGHT. LUCKILY THERE WASN'T A DITCH OR BARRIER BECAUSE TRUCK PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ROLLED WITH POSSIBLE INJURIES. CONTACTED FORD DEALER BECAUSE I HAD PURCHASED TIRE WARRANTY WHEN TRUCK (F150) WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOV 2004. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY YEAR TRUCK/TIRE P255/65R17 CONTITRAC. THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CALL INSURER OF WARRANTY TO SEE IF COVERED. 3/4 OF SIDEWALL BLEW OUT! I WILL BE GOING TO FORD DEALER 3/28/07. *JB
