TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HIS ARM AND CHEST FROM THE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS CALLED AND THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO SEEK ADVISEMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE USED A POCKET KNIFE TO REMOVE THE REMAINDER OF THE AIR BAG FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

1. I WAS DRIVING 35 MPH HOME FROM THE DOG PARK AND THE WINDOW POPPED WHEN I WAS CLOSING IT. 2. THIS WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE HAS HAPPENED TO MY FORD 150 SIX TIMES. I HAVE TO TAKE APART THE PANELING AND PLACE A PIECE OF WOOD TO HOLD UP THE WINDOW BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD 400 DOLLARS EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS. DRIVE WINDOW ONCE, REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER TWO TIMES, RIGHT PASSENGER REAR WINDOW ONCE AND THE BACK WINDOW MIDDLE SLIDER TWO TIMES. 3. THE CORRECTIONS TAKEN FOR PAST REGULATOR FAILURES IS TO GET THE PIECE REPLACED FROM THE MANUFACTURER FORD. YES I HAVE THE BAD PARTS. *TR

I OWN A 2005 FORD F-150 WHICH I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD STATING THAT MY FUEL INJECTORS WERE GIVEN A DEFECT ONLY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 150,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD A FEW INJECTORS REPLACED SINCE THE LETTER BECAUSE OF DEFECT..I.E WHITE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST AND STUTTER OF ENGINE WHILE DRIVING. RIGHT AFTER MY LAST REPLACEMENT OF A FUEL INJECTOR MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS GIVING A BAD ODOR..AFTERWARDS I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC CHECKED AND THE OUTCOME WAS A BAD CONVERTER. AFTER SEVERAL FORUMS I HAVE READ I HAVE NOTICED THAT SEVERAL....SEVERAL.. PEOPLE HAVE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PROBLEMS AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF FUEL INJECTORS..SOME EVEN HAVING TWO OR THREE REPLACED WITHIN JUST A FEW THOUSAND MILES AND AFTER HAVING ANOTHER FUEL INJECTOR REPLACED. IS THE FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM A PROBLEM FOR THE CONVERTER..ITS A BIG COINCIDENCE THAT SO MANY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AFTER REPLACING DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTORS.. *TR
AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR IN A DRIVEWAY, THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE WINDOW COULD NOT BE RAISED TO THE CLOSED POSITION. THE WINDOW REGULATOR WITH PART NUMBER 4L3Z-1823201-CA HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A TOTAL COST OF $553. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION HAD IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS OR WHILE DRIVING IN AN AREA WHERE THERE IS A CONCERN FOR PERSONAL SAFETY. *TR

AFTER ONLY RESEARCHING FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES, I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS MATTER. MANY COMPLAINTS POSTED ON YOUR SITE HAVE OCCURRED WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE THROTTLE BODY CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL GEAR, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T HAVE ANY RELATED RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WASN'T REPAIRED. MY 2005 FORD F150 PICK-UP DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW MADE A LOUD BANG WHEN I WENT TO ROLL IT UP. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND WAS VERY STARTLED, ALMOST HITTING THE CAR NEXT TO ME. I LOOKED FOR A WEBSITE TO FIX IT AND FOUND THEY HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THEIR ELECTRIC WINDOWS. ADD ONE MORE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW IS HAVING ISSUES ROLLING UP. WILL ROLL DOWN FINE, BUT WHEN I GO TO ROLL IT UP, GETS STUCK HALFWAY THROUGH. I HAVE TO GRAB TOP OF THE WINDOW TO FORCE IT BACK ALL THE WAY UP. I HAD THIS PROBLEM 2 YEARS AGO WHEN TRUCK WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND DEALER REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. NOW I'M ALREADY HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ONLY 2 YEARS LATER- I READ A TON OF POSTS ON THE WEB AND IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH FORDS AND SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA, I FELT LIKE MY TRANSMISSION MIGHT BE SLIPPING IN MY 2005 FORD F-150. I TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO A LOCAL AND REPUTABLE MECHANIC WHO TESTED THE TRANSMISSION AND SUBSEQUENTLY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE ENGINE, SPECIFICALLY THE SPARK PLUGS. IN THEIR INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT 4 OF MY 8 SPARK PLUGS WERE BROKEN. THEY HAD TO USE A SPECIAL TOOL, DEVELOPED BY FORD JUST FOR THIS "PROBLEM", IN ORDER TO EXTRACT THE BROKEN PLUGS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE TO RECALL THESE OR FORCED TO REIMBURSE CONSUMERS FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS DUE TO A DESIGN ERROR. UPON RESEARCHING ON-LINE, I WAS TOTALLY AMAZED AT HOW MANY AND HOW MUCH A PROBLEM PEOPLE HAVE HAD WITH THESE PLUGS AND THE CONSUMER IS PAYING FOR THEIR DEFECT. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. THE TOTAL COST FOR THIS REPAIR FOR ME WAS $358.55. TELL ME HOW MANY OTHER CARS OR TRUCKS REQUIRE THIS TYPE OF REPAIR TO REPLACE SPARK PLUGS? WHILE DRIVING 35-40 MPH THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WAS SKIPPING AND JUMPING AND IT WAS LATER TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO HAD TO REMOVE THE ENGINE HEAD IN ORDER TO REACH THE SPARK PLUGS. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT GET ALL OF THE SPARK PLUGS OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND REFERRED HIM BACK TO THE DEALER. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPAIRED THE VEHICLE FOR $900 SINCE THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE $2800 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE THE SPARK PLUGS WERE DIFFICULT TO REACH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RAISE THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WINDOW HAD SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH CODE P0442 INDICATING EVAP EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM SMALL LEAK. MECHANIC PERFORMED SMOKE TEST AND FOUND SEVERED FUEL LINE ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. IT APPEARS THE LINE WAS FAULTY IN THAT IT WAS RELATIVELY PROTECTED ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. ALSO, THIS LINE IS DIRECTLY ADJACENT TO THE MUFFLER WHICH IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. *TR
WHEN OPERATING THE POWER WINDOW OF MY 2005 FORD F-150 THERE WAS A SUDDEN BANG AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR CAVITY. RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME FAILURE. FORD HAS SO FAR REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO THE CONSUMER FOR REPAIRS TO THESE FAILED POWER WINDOWS. IN MANY, MANY CASES AS SOON AS ONE WINDOW FAILS THE OTHERS BEGIN TO FAIL WITHIN WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87000.
PASSENGER WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME AND IT CAUSED A BIG DISTRACTION. THIS IS THE 2ND FAILURE OF THE WINDOW REGULATOR ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE FRONT CHASSIS IN FRONT OF THE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AND CORRODING THE SOLENOIDS. THE DEALER ORDERED THE NECESSARY PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 83,000. UPDATED 11/10/10
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 -10 MPH WHEN HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED OFF THE ROADWAY AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT AN UNUSUALLY HIGH INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. SUDDENLY, A FIRE IGNITED FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY EXTINGUISHED THE HEAVY FLAMES UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO ASSIST. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
LOST OF POWER, THEN CRANK BUT NOT START THEN START A DEALER AFTER BEING TOWED TO THEM, EXCESSIVE SMOKING TO BLAME ON ERG VALVE AND COOLER, AND TURBO AIR CHARGER LEAK. REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF ERG VALVE AND COOLER, AND REPLACEMENT OF AIR TURBO CHARGER (COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASE). *TR

LUCKILY THE CONSEQUENCES WERE LIMITED BUT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE, SUCH AS THEFT, INTERIOR DAMAGE DUE TO WEATHER, OR A PASSENGER SAFETY HAZARD. 3) FAILURE WAS CORRECTED BY REPLACING ENTIRE WINDOW REGULATOR MECHANISM. *TR
DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW FELL DOWN ON MY 2005 F150 FORD TRUCK. WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL UP. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. AFTER RESEARCH I WAS ABLE TO GET THE NEW FORD WINDOW REGULATOR AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SAD PART IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED WITH MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK OR ON A TRIP OR IN THE RAIN OR DESERT WITH SOARING HEAT. *TR

SEAT WILL NOT RECLINE ENOUGH. BABY'S HEAD WAS JUST HANGING OVER HELD UP WITH THE CHEST STRAP. HIS FACE WAS RED AND I'M AFRAID THAT HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFOCATED HAD I NOT TAKEN HIM OUT WHEN I DID. I TOOK THE SEAT TO HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO VERIFY IT WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY, AND IT WAS. THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO PUT A ROLLED TOWEL UNDER THE FRONT OF THE SEAT TO HELP WITH RECLINING, BUT IT WAS VERY UNSTEADY WHEN I DID THAT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A SMOOTH ROAD IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA I HEARD A HUGE CRACK, THEN THE WINDOW LITERALLY FELL IN THE DOOR AND WOULD NOT COME UP. THE CRACK SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURIES. REPAIRS FROM THE FORD DEALER ARE ESTIMATED AT 400 OR MORE DOLLARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150 . WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE VEHICLE'S TIRES BOUNCED ON GRAVEL AND HIT A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED FACE AND WRIST INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JUNK YARD. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 63482.
THE WINDOW REGULATOR LINKAGE CONTINUALLY BREAK. FIRST INCIDENT WAS THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, AND ON 7/14/14, THE RIGHT REAR DOOR. BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB, IT IS OBVIOUS THESE REGULATORS HAVE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT THAT CAUSES PREMATURE FAILURE. THE ONLY WINDOW FALL INTO THE DOOR WHEN THE DEVICE IS OPERATED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO THE WINDOW REGULATORS OF MY 2005 FORD F150 SUPERCREW 4X4. I HAVE NOW HAD THE FRONT DRIVER AND REAR RIGHT REGULATORS FAIL DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN. THE REAR RIGHT FAILURE OCCURRED LAST FALL (AUGUST 2009) WHILE GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH WITH MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, MY DAUGHTER STARTED SCREAMING AS HER WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. THANKFULLY, THERE WERE NO INJURIES, BUT I DID HAVE WET CHILDREN AND WET INTERIOR. OF COURSE, THE CARWASH DENIED ANY WRONGDOING AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT FORD. IN DOING SO, FORD STATED THAT NHTSA DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL, SO THEY WERE NOT REQUIRED TO FIX/REPAIR AT THEIR OWN COST. NOT HAVING THE FUNDS AVAILABLE, I TORE THE DOOR PANEL OPEN, SLID THE WINDOW BACK UP IN THE TRACK, AND WEDGED A PIECE OF PVC PIPE TO KEEP THE GLASS IN PLACE. NOT A GREAT SOLUTION...BUT MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT FORD OFFERED TO DO. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED SATURDAY, JULY 11, 2010, MID-AFTERNOON. MY FAMILY AND I WERE TRAVELING TO A COMMUNITY FUNCTION. WHILE DRIVING, I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN GO OFF NEXT TO MY EAR. OUR INITIAL THOUGHT WAS WE HIT SOMETHING ON THE ROAD OR AN ANIMAL RAN INTO US. I STOPPED AND GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK, BUT DID NOT SEE ANY DAMAGE. AT THAT POINT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK. WE CONTINUED ON TO OUR FUNCTION WITHOUT ANY FURTHER ISSUES. WHEN WE ARRIVED BACK AT THE VEHICLE LATER IN THE AFTERNOON, I STARTED TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS WHILE THE A/C COILED OFF AND THUD...THE FRONT DRIVER WINDOW FELL DOWN. I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. TORE INTO THE DOOR WHEN WE GOT HOME AND FOUND THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR PULLEY FAILED IN THIS WINDOW ALSO. SO, I PUSHED THE GLASS BACK UP AND WEDGED ANOTHER PIECE OF PVC PIPE. ASIDE FROM THE RINGING IN MY EAR THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON FROM THE "GUNSHOT", THERE WERE NO INJURIES. FROM MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD REFUSES TO ADDRESS. I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP AND RESEARCH IN THIS MATTER. *TR
TRUCK SHAKES VIGOROUSLY AT SPEEDS OVER 55MPH, CANNOT EXCEL IN FAST ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH CHILDREN IN VEHICLE! ENGINE CUTS OUT AND JERKS THE WHOLE VEHICLE. MISFIRING. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 FORD F150 SUPERCAB TRUCK. I RECENTLY HAD ANOTHER POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAIL ON MY VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 35MPH. THIS IS THE SECOND REGULATOR THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE (THE FIRST ONE OCCURRED THREE YEARS AGO). WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS THE WINDOW JUST DROPS COMPLETELY DOWN INTO THE DOOR WITH NO WARNING. WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING IT CAUSES A VERY BIG DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS OF THE VEHICLE. THREE YEARS AGO, WHEN THE FIRST REGULATOR FAILED, I HAD MY VEHICLE PARKED (LUCKILY AT HOME) AND I NOTICED THAT THE WINDOW WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION. I RECALLED ROLLING THE WINDOW UP WHEN I PARKED MY VEHICLE, SO I GOT IN IT TO PUT THE WINDOW IN THE UP POSITION. AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION ON AND PRESSING THE UP BUTTON, NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS TIME IT WAS THE DRIVERS WINDOW. I AM VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE NOT PARKED MY VEHICLE IN A PUBLIC PLACE WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURRED BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE GIVEN ANYONE ACCESS TO THE INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES DID NOT RESULT IN ANY INJURY OR LOSSES, THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE CONCERNING VEHICLE SAFETY. I CONDUCTED SOME INTERNET RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THAT OTHER 2004-2005 F150 OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THESE WINDOW REGULATORS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE REMAINING 2 WINDOWS WILL FAIL OVER TIME. ON BOTH OCCASIONS, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE A REPLACEMENT WINDOW REGULATOR INSTALLED. ONE OF THE REGULATOR REPLACEMENTS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE MOST RECENT ONE WAS NOT. THIS REPAIR COST WAS $220. I FEEL THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT REGULAR MAINTENANCE NOR NORMAL VEHICLE CARE COULD PREVENT. THIS IS A DEFINITE EQUIPMENT FLAW THAT THE OWNER HAS NO WARNING OF WHEN IT WILL OCCUR. THEREFORE I FEEL THAT THESE REGULATORS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE IT POSES A SAFETY ISSUE TO THE VEHICLE OWNER AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROADWAY. *TR

HE STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE WHEN THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND HIS CLOTHES WERE STAINED FROM THE MATERIAL IN THE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AND WAS CURRENTLY AT AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER. IN THE 2005 FORD F-150 WITH THE 5.4 LITER 3 VALVE THERE IS A DEFECT PERTAINING TO THE SPARK PLUGS. IN THE EVENT THAT YOU TRY TO REMOVE THE SPARK PLUGS THEY TEND TO BREAK OFF IN THE HEAD POSSIBLY DAMAGING THE THREADS OF THE SPARK PLUG HOLE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, FORD IS CHARGING AN OUTSTANDING AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPAIR IT. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND DOESN'T JUST AFFECT THE 2005 MODEL. IT IS A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT COSTING PEOPLE A LOT OF MONEY THAT I THINK SHOULD BE PLACED ON THE MANUFACTURES PLATE. IT IS ALMOST AS IF THEY DESIGNED THIS PROBLEM ON PURPOSE TO MAKE PEOPLE HAVE TO BRING IT TO THEIR REPAIR SHOP AND HAVE IT FIXED REGARDLESS OF THE PRICE. I HAVE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS AND I THINK IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE CUSTOMERS ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY FORD HAS HANDLED THE ISSUE. SPARK PLUGS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE PART OF PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE BUT THIS IS SICKENING HOW THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH CHARGING THAT MUCH FOR A SMALL PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL FORD HAD SOLD SO MANY OF THEM THAT IT WOULD PROBABLY TAKE THEM YEARS TO CORRECT EVERY ONE. IT IS PRETTY MUCH GUARANTEED THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BREAK OFF AT LEAST ONE OF YOUR PLUGS WHILE TRYING TO DO THIS SMALL TASK. AS FAR AS I KNOW THE ONLY THING DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WAS THEY INVENTED A TOOL THAT WILL REMOVED THE BROKEN PART OF THE SPARK PLUG IN THE HEAD, BUT IF THE THREADS GET MESSED UP IN THE PROCESS THAT'S WHEN IT BEGINS TO START COSTING BIG BUCKS AND IT IS TOTALLY THE MANUFACTURES FAULT TO BEGIN WITH. PLEASE TAKE THIS REQUEST FOR A RECALL SERIOUSLY AS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS THIS WAY, JUST LOOK ONLINE. *TR
NOTIFIED TODAY THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH REMOVING AND REPLACING SPARK PLUGS FOR THE FORD 5.3 TRITON V8 3 VALVE ENGINE. FORD HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB 08-7-6 AND IT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON YOUR WEBSITE. WHY? IF THIS IS INDEED A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT SHOULD IT NOT BE COVERED BY THEIR ORIGINAL WARRANTY OR THE MAGNUSEN-MOSS WARRANTY ACT AND OR THE UCC, ARTICLE 2. THIS PROCEDURE CAN BE BOTH TIMELY AND COSTLY FOR A CONSUMER. I HAVE RECEIVED QUOTES RANGING FROM 250 TO 1600 DOLLARS. SHOULD THE CONSUMER BE EXPECTED TO SHOULDER THE BURDEN OF THIS ISSUE? *TR
