SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF HEAD. CALLED FORD NO RECALL. CAN SEE WHY SO MANY SUV, TRUCKS,ECT. HAVE THIS PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD HAVE PAID. WENT TRUCK SHOPPING GOT A NEW DODGE. *TR
WOULD NOT START BROKE DOWN HAD TO TOW RUSTED FUEL PUMP MODULE. *TR
BOUGHT THIS FORD F150 USED WITH 95,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THE PLUGS AND FUEL FILTER NEEDED REPLACED BY THE 100,000 RANGE. MY LOCAL GARAGE SPENT HOURS REPLACING ONE PLUG AND WHEN THEY CHECKED WITH THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY WERE TOLD IT WAS A LONG ON GOING PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID, THEY COULD REMOVE THE PLUGS BUT IT WOULD BE $500.00 DOLLARS TO START AND IF THE PLUGS BROKE OFF IN THE HEADS THE COST COULD BE AS MUCH AS $3,000.00 IF THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE HEADS. RESEARCH SHOWS ME THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR EVER AND FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR OR RECALL THE F150 5.4 3V SPARK PLUG PROBLEM. BUILD UP AROUND THE BASE OF THE PLUGS FROM POOR HEAD DESIGN IS COSTING US CONSUMERS THOUSANDS. PEOPLE ARE GETTING HURT JUST TRYING TO REMOVE THESE PLUGS. I FEEL FORD SHOULD RECALL THE F150 WITH THIS ENGINE AND REPAIR OR REPLACE THE ENGINE HEADS WITH A PLUG THAT CAN BE REPLACED AT A FAIR PRICE NOT THIS STUPID THOUSANDS PEOPLE ARE SPENDING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, IT BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT JUMPED BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING SLOWLY FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. APPARENTLY THE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE, AN ISSUE WHICH IS DOCUMENTED ON NUMEROUS INTERNET SITES. THE WINDOW DROPPING INTO THE DOOR CREATED A VERY DISTRACTING DRIVING SITUATION, NOT TO MENTION VISUAL SAFETY HAZARDS AS IN TODAY DURING RAINY, FOGGY, HUMID CONDITIONS AFFECTING THE VISIBILITY THROUGH THE REMAINING GLASS IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
MICHELIN LTX AT2 TIRES. EXCESSIVE CRACKING. TIRES WITH 30,000 MILES ON THEM AND WELL OVER ONE-HALF TREAD REMAINING HAVE DEVELOPED WIDESPREAD SIDEWALL CRACKS. CRACKS ARE MORE THAN COSMETIC, YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL RAISED BUMPS IF YOU RUN YOUR HAND OVER THEM. THE CRACKS SEEM SEVERE ENOUGH THAT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT TIRE FAILURES, PARTICULARLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND EVIDENCE THAT MICHELIN HAS BEEN QUIETLY OFFERING DISCOUNTED REPLACEMENTS TO THOSE WHO COMPLAIN DIRECTLY TO THEM. I RECENTLY FILED A COMPLAINT ON THEIR WEBSITE BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD ENOUGH THAT A MORE FORMAL PROGRAM ON MICHELIN'S PART SEEMS WARRANTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150 EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC BSW TIRES, SIZE: LT245 75 R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE CRACKED ON THE SIDEWALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHANGED AND WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARD TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05T022000 (TIRES: TREAD/BELT), BUT WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRE SIZE WAS NOT INCLUDED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG ERRONEOUSLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FIRST DEGREE BURNS TO THE RIGHT WRIST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THEY WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT TO AUTHORIZE ANY REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 219,671.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSORS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AS THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED WHEN THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD ABNORMALLY. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW FELL TO BOTTOM OF DOOR. *TRW
MY FUEL CONTROL MODULE SHORTED OUT WHICH CAUSED MY PCM TO BE ERASED. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER RESEARCHING IT, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK AND LOST ALL POWER. THIS RESULTED IN A NEAR ACCIDENT DUE TO HAVING NO POWER STEERING AND LESS BRAKE CONTROL. IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PLACEMENT OF THE CONTROL MODULE WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED. $1000 LATER I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
AFTER THE TRUCK PASSED 76000 I STARTED TO NOTICE A TICK/KNOCK IN THE ENGINE. I BROUGHT IT TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS NORMAL NOISE FOR THESE ENGINES, TO ME THIS WAS NO NORMAL. NOW THE TICK/KNOCK/RATTLE HAS BECOME WORSE AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY FORD I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS A VERY VERY COMMON SITUATION WITH THE 2004-2008 5.4L 3V ENGINES. WHAT US FORD OWNERS WOULD LIKE IS A RECALL ON THE CAM PHASERS AND VCT SOLENOIDS. FORD HAS REDESIGNED BOTH OF THESE PARTS SO THEY KNOW THIS WAS CAUSING BIG ISSUES WITH OWNERS OF THE MENTIONED MAKE/MODEL/YEAR FORDS. I DO NOT KNOW HOW A COMPANY, AN AMERICAN COMPANY, CAN GET AWAY WITH SELLING VEHICLES WHERE THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE ENGINE, AND AMERICAN MADE ENGINE, GO FAULTY BEFORE THE ODOMETER HIT'S 100,000 MILES. THERE ARE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR REPLACEABLE PARTS ON EVERY CAR, BUT WHEN INTERNAL ENGINE COMPONENTS FAIL WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS JUST 7 YEARS OLD THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPILL FUEL INTO THE STREET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE JOINT ON THE TANK HAD BECOME DELAMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID CRASHING INTO A DEER, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DITCH AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A BROKEN LEG AND WRIST. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150 EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LTX/MS 2 TIRES, SIZE: P275/65/R18. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SIDE WALL WAS SEPARATED FROM THE TREAD. THE TIRE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE TIRE WERE DEFECTIVE. THE TIRE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A MICHELIN DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE BLOWOUT WAS CAUSED BY A SCREW. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,863. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,581. ..UPDATED 11/14/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED A SECOND TIRE HAD TO REPLACED BECAUSE THE TREAD DEPTH CANNOT BE MORE THAN 4/32 ON SAME AXLE ON A 4 WHEEL DRIVE. THE STEERING WHEEL ON THIS 2005 IS EXTREMELY LOOSE AT THE TOP OF THE WHEEL AND FEELS VERY UNSECURED AS FAR AS IT BEING CONNECTED OR SECURED UNDERNEATH. IT IS ALSO DETERIORATING GREATLY IN THAT SAME AREA AT THE TOP OF THE WHEEL AND NEVER HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE. THE REASON I AM SO CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ME AND ESPECIALLY MY FAMILY WHERE WE HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISION AND WERE VERY LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. MY WIFE HAS NEVER FULLY RECUPERATED FROM THAT HORRIBLE NIGHT. FOR HER TO DRIVE MY PICKUP AND FEEL UNSAFE BECAUSE OF A DEFECT THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY OBVIOUSLY OVERLOOKED OR IS NEGLECTING IS UNTHINKABLE. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH DUE TO A FRIEND OF MINE WHICH WAS KILLED IN ONE OF YOUR FORD EXPLORERS MANY YEARS AGO DUE TO DEFECTIVE TIRES FROM FIRESTONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS DRIVING WITH THE LOW BEAMS ACTIVATED WHEN THEY FAILED AND NEVER RE-ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THAT WITHER THE MULTI-SWITCH OR THE MODULE UNDER THE DASHBOARD WOULD NEED REPLACING. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN RESUMED DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED UPON ARRIVING TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT DETECTED THE NUMBER SEVEN SPARK PLUG DISLODGED FROM THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD. THE DEALER WAS CONTACT WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WAS NO RECALLS PERTAINING TO THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW COLLAPSED INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED WITH ANOTHER WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,000. ..UPDATED 09-28-12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED TWO OF THE WINDOWS FAILED WITHIN TWO DAYS OF EACH OTHER. THE FIRST FAILURE HAPPENED AT 30 MPH AND THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED AT 65 MPH, WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE CONSUMER'S WIFE ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT IT WAS A GUN SHOT. THE WINDOW DROPPED INSIDE THE DOOR, LEAVING THE INABILITY TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW. UPDATED 10/01/12
I HAVE POWERED WINDOWS ON MY TRUCK. TODAY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AND GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING SOUTH ON I-35 IN OKC, OK. I HAD THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW PARTIALLY ROLLED DOWN AND ONCE I WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I DECIDED TO ROLL THE WINDOW UP, AS I USUALLY HAVE ALWAYS DONE BEFORE. AFTER THE WINDOW REACHED THE CLOSED POSITION, I HEARD A LOUD POP AS IF A ROCK HIT THE WINDOW AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT, THE WINDOW FELL DOWN AND SLAMMED INTO THE BOTTOM WELL OF THE DOOR PANEL. TO MY AMAZEMENT AND NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT JUST OCCURRED, I TRIED TO RE-RAISE THE WINDOW BACK UP UNSUCCESSFULLY. SO FAR ITS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT, TAPED UP WITH PLASTIC OVER IT SINCE ITS ABOUT TO RAIN UNTIL I CAN GET IT TAKEN CARE OF. ON ANOTHER NOTE THE OTHER REAR BACK PASSENGERS WINDOWS SQUEAK WHEN THEY ARE RAISED OR LOWERED. WHAT NEXT!! PROBABLY MORE OF THE SAME. SWEET!! *TR
WHILE APPROACHING A STOP DURING A HEAVY RAIN SHOWER I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP ABOUT 10 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD. I PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE JERKED AND SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT I WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS ISSUED A VIOLATION FROM LOUISIANA STATE POLICE FOR FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY. MY BELIEF IS THAT THE SHUDDERING WAS THE EFFECT OF THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATING. THE DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES WAS RELATIVELY MINOR. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED FOR A DEFECT BUT NONE COULD BE FOUND.
THE TRUCK LOSES ITS POWER STEERING CAPABILITY AFTER ABOUT 10-15MIN OF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IF A TURN NEEDS TO BE MADE,THE STEERING WHEEL FREEZES WITHOUT NOTICE, WHICH CAUSES PANIC; ADDITIONALLY, IT RATTLES AND CLUNKS AS IT IS MANUALLY MANEUVERED. IT BECOMES NECESSARY TO QUICKLY STRONG-ARM THE STEERING WHEEL, IN HOPES OF FORCIBLY COMPLETING THE TURN SO THAT IT DOESN'T GO OFF THE PATH POSSIBLY CRASHING INTO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB #05-9-23 PERTAINING TO THIS ISSUE. WHY IS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM THAT CAN BE SO DANGEROUS TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND OTHERS NOT IDENTIFIED AS A RECALL VS. A TSB? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER STARTED THE VEHICLE AND HEARD A POPPING NOISE. THERE WAS SMOKE SEEN RISING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT APPEARED ON THE SCENE TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE POWER ASSIST FEATURE ON THE BRAKES WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT VARIOUS HOSES FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V208000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUM:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT HONOR THE RECALL A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,173.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE SIMILAR DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V107000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD EMIT A LOUD CLUNKING AND RATTLING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD ALSO LOCK WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN FOR OVER A PERIOD OF TWENTY MINUTES AND EVENTUALLY UNLOCK WHEN THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF. THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN PERTAINING TO THE NHTSA ITEM NUMBER 10014252 (STEERING). THE STEERING WHEEL WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

THIS 5.4 LITER V8 MOTOR REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF SPARK PLUGS (CHECK ENGINE MESSAGE FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD). THE SPARK PLUGS HAD WELDED THEMSELVES TO THE ENGINE HEAD, ULTIMATELY REQUIRING THE REMOVEL OF THE ENGINE HEAD TO EXTRACT SPARK PLUG-COST $2,000 IN ADDITIONAL COST TO CONSUMER. AFTER THE RECALL TO PREVENT A SHORT BETWEEN HORN AND AIR BAG WAS COMPLETED IN 2011 A SHORT TIME THEREAFTER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT THE HORN CAME ON BY ITSELF IN THE LOCKED VEHICLE WITH NO ONE IN IT. AFTER TRYING EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF LIKE STARTING THE ENGINE AND PUSHING THE HORN BUTTON NUMEROUS TIMES. I WAS ABOUT READY TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WHEN IN ANGER I HIT THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD WITH MY HAND AND THE HORN STOPPED BLOWING. FROM THAT DAY ON THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE ENGINE RUNS. AND THE HORN BLOWS HALF AS LOUD AS IT ORIGINALLY DID WHEN ACTIVATED. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO FORD MANY TIMES FOR DRAINING THE BATTERY. IF IT IS PARKED FOR 2 TO 3 DAYS I WOULD HAVE TO JUMP START IT. I WAS DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET (GRAY ST. )APPROACHING A BUSY TWO LANE STREET THAT WAS ONE WAY HEADING SOUTH (ARMENIA AVENUE) IN TAMPA, FLORIDA. AS I WAS APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. PREPARING TO STOP, BUT INSTEAD OF STOPPING THE ENGINE REVVED AND ACCELERATED INTO THE LANES OF TRAFFIC TRAVELING SOUTH. I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE SO HARD THAT MY LEG WAS SHAKING WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE BY DEPRESSING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE RPM'S FINALLY CAME DOWN AND THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL. I WAS SO NERVOUS BECAUSE IF THERE HAD BEEN CARS COMING I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE STREET IS USUALLY VERY HEAVY WITH TRAFFIC. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THERE WAS NO ONE CLOSE OR I MAY NOT BE WRITING THIS TODAY. A FEW DAYS LATER I CAME TO THE SAME CORNER AND A BICYCLIST CROSSED RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON APRIL 12TH, I WOULD HAVE RUN OVER THE BICYCLIST. I DROVE AROUND THE BLOCK VERY SLOWLY CONTINUING TO STOP AND RPM'S WERE NORMAL. MY OBD READINGS AT HOME WERE P2104 AND P2112. IF NOT ALREADY, THIS ISSUE IS A FATALLY WAITING TO HAPPEN. LOTS OF CHATTER ON INTERNET OF SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
ENGINE STARTED TICKING ENDED UP BEING CAM PHASERS AND NEEDED NEW MOTOR FORD KNOWS ITS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL ENGINE WEAR WHICH I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE AT 100,000MILES WITH RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE DONE TO VEHICLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WOULD BE THE BEST FOR ALL INVOLVED WHEN IT COMES TO THIS PRODUCT 7000 DOLLARS TO REPLACE MOTOR.
#3 SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT WHILE TRAVELING AWAY FROM HOME IN ANOTHER STATE. IN DRIVING TWO MILES BACK TO MY SON'S HOUSE, I HAD TWO EXPLOSIONS FROM EXCESS GASOLINE AND SPARK PLUG FIRING. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE ORIGINAL AND BLEW OUT BECAUSE OF THE FINE THREADS AND ALUMINUM CYLINDER HEADS. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT AND SAFETY PROBLEM KNOWN TO FORD.
