DEFECTIVE SPARK PLUGS IN 2007 FORD F150 5.4 L 3VALVE V8. I WAS INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC AT FORD THAT THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT ONE OR ALL OF MY SPARK PLUGS MIGHT BREAK DURING REMOVAL, AND THAT IT WILL COST AN ADDITIONAL 90.00 TO EXTRACT EACH BROKEN PLUG. IN FACT THERE IS A TSB BULLETIN WITH PROCEDURES TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. TSB 08-1-9 . I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT IN THE MODERN AGE WE HAVE SUCH A DEFECTIVE SITUATION. AND NO REMEDY. FORD HAS STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THERE ARE SUFFICIENT COMPLAINTS AND INSTRUCTED BY YOUR AGENCY. LEAVING THOSE OWNERS OF THE 5.4L ENGINE TO FOOT THE REPAIR BILL ON AN OTHERWISE SIMPLE PROCESS FOR OTHER VEHICLES. IN ADDITIONTHE FORD MANUAL STATES THE SPARK PLUGS ARE GOOD FOR 100,000 MI. BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HIGHLY RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS AT 60,000 MI TO PREVENT SEIZED SPARK PLUGS. QUITE A CONTRADICTION. IF THIS IS POOR ENGINEERING ON FORDS PART, THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEAR THE BURDEN. *TR
BACK UP SENSORS ON MY F150 TRUCK FAILED TO WORK. I BACKING OUT OF A DARK, UNLIT, WINDING DRIVEWAY AND BACKED INTO A TREE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F150. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE CABLE IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT CONNECTED TO THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL BUT THE PRIOR YEAR ONLY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO REMAIN WITH THE DEALER UNTIL THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS DID NOT RESTRAIN THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT STRUCK HIS HEAD ON THE WINDSHIELD. AS A RESULT, HE SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND DEVELOPED POST CONCUSSION SYNDROME. THE CONTACT ALSO SUFFERED INJURIES TO HIS BACK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE SCENE OF THE CRASH AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER WHERE THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT MODULES WERE FAULTY. THE DEALER DID NOT INFORM THE CONTACT IF THERE WAS A FAILURE WITHIN THE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT WITH THE DEALER AND WAS UNDERGOING FURTHER INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE COST OF REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,500.
MY TRUCK WAS GIVING HESITATION GOING UP HILLS AND I CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FORD (MIND YOU THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON) BUT BEFORE I COULD GET IT LOOKED AT THE SPARKPLUG BLEW OUT OF IT AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE A WARRANTY FORD IS TELLING ME IT IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE I DROVE IT THAT WAY LIKE I WAS SUPPOSE TO KNOW THE PLUG WAS LOOSE AS HE SAYS. THE GARAGE HAS THE OPTION OF HOW THEY WORD IT TO DETERMINE IF IT IS COVERED AND THEY WOULD NOT LISTEN TO ME WHEN I TOLD THEM THERE WAS NO WARNING. ALL THEY SAID IS I DROVE IT THAT WAY FOR SO LONG THAT IT WAS MY PROBLEM. *TR
OUR 2007 F150 INTERMITTENTLY LOSSES POWER UNDERLOAD, STUMBLES, BUG DOWN AND STALLS. WE HAD A VERY HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WE ALMOST GOT WIPED OUT BY AN 18-WHEELER TRACTOR BECAUSE OF EXTREME DIFFICULTY MANEUVERING BACKWARDS DOWNHILL WITH STALLED ENGINE, NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER BRAKES. OTHER DRIVERS WERE SO IRATE BECAUSE WE BECAME ROAD HAZARD AT THAT MOMENT IN TIME. MY HUSBAND KEEP ONTRYING TO START THE ENGINE AND LOTS OF SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE DASH. HE IMMEDIATELY OPENED THE HOOD AND ISOLATED THE BATTERY. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THAT WE SHOULD ADDRESS THE IGNITION SPARK PLUG PROBLEM DUE TO THE SYMPTOM AND MILEAGE OF THE TRUCK. WE THEN FOUND OUT THAT #4 FIREWALL-PASSENGER SIDE SPARK PLUG WAS BROKEN (SPECIALTY TOOLING ROTUNDA AND CAL CANNOT REMOVE IT). GOT LUCKY ON THE OTHER 3 SEPARATED ONCE THE TOOLS MANAGED TO REMOVE THEM. IT NEEDS $1000-$3300 TO RECTIFY THE DAMAGE DONE BY THE BAD PRODUCT DESIGNED MOTORCRAFT SPARK PLUGS. FORD DENIED HELP ON POTENTIAL REPAIR BILL DUE TO WARRANTY LAPSE. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED NOT TO NEED ANY TUNE UP EXCEPT FILTER/OIL CHANGES PRIOR TO 100,000 MILES. AT THE PRESENT WE GOT ROB OF OUR ONLY "RELIABLE?" MOBILITY.HOWEVER FORD CREDIT KEEPS COLLECTING FROM ME TO PAY FOR A DEAD HORSE. FORD HAD FULL AWARENESS OF THE CANCER IN THESE SAID ENGINES BUT FAILED TO NOTIFY THE F150 OWNERS. FOR THE SAFETY OF BOTH MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS ALIKE, DOES THIS VERY SERIOUS DRIVEABILITY PROBLEM WARRANTS AN IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION AND RECALL. THE PROBLEM STARTED OCT 2010, NOV 2010 WE THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS SO WE KEEP CHANGING FUEL FILTERS, THEN DEC 22, 2010 IT DIED ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE WHEN THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED IN REVERSE UNTIL HEAVY PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. APPROXIMATELY FOUR DAYS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DECELERATING FROM APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY APPLYING THE BRAKES AND WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE BODY DAMAGES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2007 F150 CREW CAB WITH 33,000 MILES. SHE WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND THE ENGINE REVVED VARY HIGH AND SHE COULD NOT STOP FOR THE INTERSECTION. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS SHE SHOT STRAIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BEFORE SHE GOT THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL. SHE WAS SCARED TO DEATH. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM! I TOLD THEM TO DO AN INTERNET SEARCH AND THEY WILL SEE THOUSANDS OF DOCUMENTED CASES BUT I'VE YET TO SEE A SOLUTION POSTED. *TR
DRIVING ALONG, HEARD A BANG, SMELLED VERY STRONG SMELL OF FUEL, TRUCK STARTED BACKFIRING AND VIBRATING SO MUCH IT WAS HARD TO CONTROL, FORWARD MOTION SLOWED RAPIDLY, VIBRATION, ATTEMPTED TO PULL THE TRUCK OVER ACROSS 4 LANE OF TRAFFIC, OPENED WINDOWS AS THE SMELL OF FUEL WAS CHOKING EVERYONE IN THE CAB. STOPPED TRUCK, ENGINE RUNNING VERY ROUGH AND HAD STRANGE NOISE, UNABLE TO LOCATE. EVENTUALLY FOUND RIGHT REAR MOST SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF HEAD (LEAVING METAL THREADED PART AND BASE IN HEAD), CONTACTED DEALER "BIG FORD, VANCOUVER, WA" AND "COURTESY FORD, PORTLAND, OREGON" BOTH CLAIM THE "FLEX FUEL ENGINES HAVE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SPARK PLUGS SEPARATING, STICKING IN THE HEAD, AND/OR EXPLODING OUT OF THE HEAD" THE ALSO STATED THE FORD WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL WAS TAKING PLACE AS THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS AS OF YET (THE TRUCK ENGINE IS DAMAGED, STILL SMELLS LIKE FUEL INSIDE THE CAB, PLUGS, COIL, AND INJECTOR HAVE BEEN CHANGED, DEALER WOULD NOT HONER "BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY" THIS ISSUE WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A GREAT NUMBER OF DEATHS AND OR INJURIES AND THE FUEL ISSUE COULD LIKELY CAUSE AN EXPLOSION (EVEN IN MY VEHICLE AFTER THE REPAIRS)(DEALERS WANTED BETWEEN $2,000.00 AND $6,000.00 TO EXTRACT THE SPARK PLUG BASES AND STATED REPEATEDLY IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE AND IT WAS "NOT COVERED UNDER WARRENTLY"
2007 FORD F150 4X4 MY WIFE CANE HOME FROM WORK AND SAID THE REAR END WAS MAKING A SOUND I WENT OUT TO LOOK AND FOUND THE REAR HOUSING HAD BROKE OFF AT THE HOUSING BELL AND WAS RESTING ON THE AXLE. IN ALL MY LIFE I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS. ALL PEOPLE I TALK TOHAVE NEVER SEEN THIS. I DO THINK THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE HOUSING. JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF THIS HAS EVER BEEN REPORTED BEFORE. IF SO CAN ANY THING BE DONE ABOUT IT. CAN FORD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. THANK GOD SHE WAS NOT IN A WRECK. PICKUP WILL ONLY BE FOUR YEARS OLD IN DEC. *TR
THIS EVENT HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 FORD F150 STX MODEL WITH THE 4.6L V8. IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS TWICE THE #3 CYLINDER HAS BLOWN A COIL PACK. THE FIRST TIME ALL I HAD TO DO WAS REPLACE THE COIL PACK. THIS MOST RECENT TIME IT ACTUALLY BLEW THE SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. I AGAIN HAD TO REPLACE THE COIL PACK BUT THIS TIME I HAD TO BUY A KIT TO REPAIR THE STRIPPED HEAD. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH OUT INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING ON A MAIN HIGH WAY BUT LUCKILY I WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT HAND LANE. HAD I NOT BEEN I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GUIDE THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY AS IT HAD NO POWER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF THE ENGINE SPARK PLUGS WERE DEFECTIVE. I BOUGHT A NEW 2007 FORD F150 IN 2007. IT IS NOW 2010 WITH 44K MILES. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED IT WITH THE EMER. BRAKE, TIRES AND FRONT END POPPING, BUT TODAY WAS THE WORST! I WAS DRIVING APPROX 50 MPH TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND MY TRUCK BEGAN ACCELERATING! I STARTED BRAKING AND IT FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AS IT APPROACHED 60MPH. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PRACTICALLY STANDING ON IT USING THE STEERING WHEEL FOR LEVERAGE AND IT DID FINALLY SLOW TO ALMOST A STOP BUT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING VERY LOUD AND YOU COULD FEEL THE TRUCK PULLING FORWARD AS I HAD THE BRAKE TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO START CUTTING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO KEEP FROM HITTING A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE STOP LIGHT. I FINALLY IN PANIC MODE KEPT MY FEET ON THE BRAKE, ENGINE REVVING THE WHOLE TIME AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. IT FINALLY STOPPED AND THE ENGINE SLOWED. I WAS SCARED TO PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE. I DID HOWEVER PUT IT IN DRIVE AND SLOWLY STARTED MOVING FORWARD AS A POLICEMAN BEHIND ME BLUE LIGHTED ME TO PULL OVER. I WAS RELIEVED TO SEE HIM THINKING HE HAD WITNESSED THE EVENT AND WAS GOING TO HELP. I WAS PHYSICALLY SHAKING AND MY 7 YEAR OLD WAS CRYING VERY SCARED ASKING ME, "MOMMY WHY DID OUR TRUCK NOT STOP AND SOUND LIKE A RACE CAR?" I ASKED THE POLICEMAN DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED? HE SAID, "YES MAM I SAW YOU TRYING TO STOP BUT THAT ISN'T WHY I PULLED YOU, I CLOCKED YOU GOING 60 IN A 45 APPROACHING THE LIGHT." I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE DID SEE HOW THE TRUCK DIDN'T WANT TO STOP BUT HAD TO TICKET ME NEVER THE LESS BECAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION. I JUST GOT HOME AND STARTED LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE 148 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH NO RECALL OR EXPLANATION FROM FORD! I AM TAKING MY TRUCK TOMORROW TO THE SHOP TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND THE COMPUTER SCANNED FOR ANY ERROR CODES! WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE! PLEASE DON'T WAIT LIKE TOYOTA UNTIL SOMEONE DIES TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! PLEASE HELP! *TR
ON 10/22/2010 I WAS THE 2. TIME IN A VEHICLE CRASH, WITH A 2007 FORD F 150 AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOYED. 1. IN 2008 FRONT RIGHT DAMAGE BROKEN FRONT AXEL FENDER TIRE RIM DAMAGE, SPEED 55MPH .. CUTS AND BRUISES REPAIR $6,000.00 2. FRONT DAMAGE SIDE DAMAGE BROKEN AXEL FENDER DOOR TIRE RIM DAMAGE .. TRUCK MIGHT BE TOTALED. CUTS AND BRUISES TO FACE AND LEG BOTH TIMES AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOYED EVEN WITH SEVERE FRONT DAMAGE, PICS ARE AVAILABLE. *TR
I RETURNED MY FORD F-150 TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD TIME TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELING PAST THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DURING NORMAL BRAKING. FORD IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP SALES MANAGER ACKNOWLEDGES HE HAS REPLICATED THE PROBLEM INTERMITTENTLY; HOWEVER, BECAUSE FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM REPORTED IN OTHER CASES ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, AND I BELIEVE IT IS TIME FOR NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE BEFORE DEATHS ARE REPORTED FROM BRAKING/ACCELERATING THROUGH STOP SIGNS/LIGHTS AND HITTING OR BEING HIT BY SOMEONE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS SOMEHOW ALSO RELATED TO THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARPING WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME (20K - 30K MILES). *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS BROKEN FROM THE TRACK ASSEMBLY. I BELIEVE THIS COULD POSE DANGEROUSLY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, WINDOW COULD BE BECOME AN PROJECTILE AND DISLODGE WHERE NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO EXIT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT ON MY 2007 F150 WITH THE 5.4L MODULAR ENGINE. SPARK PLUGS WERE THE FACTORY PLUGS AND AS I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW THEIR IS NO WAY THAT THEY HAVE EVER BEEN CHANGED AND IMPROPERLY TORQUED AS THE FORD DEALER TOLD ME AFTER IT HAPPENED. I EXPLAINED THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB ON THE PROBLEM AS IT IS SO RAMPANT IN EVERY FORD V8 ENGINE FROM 1993 TO CURRENT. THIS IS THE 3RD FORD VEHICLE THAT I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD F150 4WD PICKUP TRUCK. I HAVE 22,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND JUST HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT UPPER BALL JOINTS. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE FORD GARAGE THEY INDICATED THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE FAILURE MECHANISM IF THE UPPER BALL JOINT FAILS IS FOR THE WHEEL TO FOLD UNDER THE VEHICLE AND POTENTIALLY RUPTURE THE BRAKE LINES IN THE PROCESS. THEY INDICATED THIS FAILURE WOULD BE WORSE WHILE PULLING A TRAILER. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY OFFERED NO EXPLANATION OR ASSISTANCE AS THE TRUCK IS OFF WARRANTY. *TR
AFTER REPLACING THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS DURING 8/07/10 - 8/10/10 TO TRY AND ALLEVIATE A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELING PAST THE ACCELERATOR WHEN BRAKING (NORMAL BRAKING), I HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I CANNOT ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK WHO IS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FROM 8/11/10 THROUGH 8/25/10 WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER DRIVING IT EVERY DAY TO AND FROM WORK TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM COULD BE REPLICATED. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE NOTICED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING PAST THE ACCELERATOR WITH NORMAL BRAKING; HOWEVER, DID NOT HAPPEN EVERYTIME. I AGREED WITH THAT. AFTER THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM, THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE SAID THERE IS NOT A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALERSHIP THAT FORD DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM AND THEY COULD NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE FOR ME. IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM, AS I DROVE SEVERAL 2007 AND 2008 F-150'S THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD ON THE LOT. EACH ONE OF THEM HAD THE PROBLEM I NOTED ABOVE. THE 2009 F-150 DOES NOT HAVE THE BRAKING PROBLEM I FOUND OUT WHEN I TEST DROVE ONE. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE, THE PEDAL TRAVELS BELOW THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING THE FOOT TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, I HAVE RUN THROUGH STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS TRYING TO COME TO A STOP, AND ON OCCASION HAVE ALMOST HIT OTHER VEHICLES. ANOTHER TIME, I WAS BEHIND THE TRUCK GUIDING SOMEONE IN THE TRUCK WHILE BACKING UP. NOT BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE TRUCK, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELLED PASE THE ACCELERATOR, HIS FOOT CAUSED BOTH TO BE DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME ALMOST RUNNING OVER ME BEFORE JUMPING OUT OF THE WAY JUST IN TIME. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND RELATED TO THE PROBLEM I BELIEVE IS THE FRONT ROTORS KEEP WARPING. THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT THIS INCIDENT TIME BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERSHIP THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE THE ISSUE. IT DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE AND THEY ONLY CHARGED MY HALF-PRICE. *TR

THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
MY 2007 FORD F150 JUST EXPERIENCED ITS 3RD VALVE STEM FAILURE FROM A TOPSEAL AUTO PARTS TR414 VALVE STEM THAT IS SUPPOSEDLY MANUFACTURED BY SHANGAI BAOLONG AUTOMOTIVE CORPORATION. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD TO CHECK MY VALVE STEMS BACK ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, BUT ALL OF THEM APPEARED OKAY AT THE TIME I CHECKED THEM AND AS I RECALL THE BULLETIN DID NOT INSIST THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE INSPECTED BY A DEALER. I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST VALVE STEM FAILURE ON 9/6/09 REQUIRING A NEW TIRE. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TOUGH LUCK, SAYING I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR IT TO BE CHECKED BY THEM. I HAD TO REPLACE THAT TIRE MYSELF FOR ABOUT $185. I THEN REQUESTED THAT THE 3 REMAINING STEMS BE REPLACED BY THE FUGATE MOTORS DEALERSHIP IN EL DORADO SPRINGS, MO. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN WARRANTY IN SEPTEMBER 2009. THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE VALVE STEMS BUT SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT STEMS AND SAID THEY HAD CHECKED THE 3 REMAINING STEMS AND THEY WERE FINE AND DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE RETURNING FROM COLORADO LAST WEEK I EXPERIENCED ANOTHER FAILURE ON 6/24/10 REQUIRING A CHANGED VALVE STEM AT A WALMART AND AND A 3RD FAILURE ON 6/25/10 WHICH WILL REQUIRE ANOTHER NEW TIRE. THE DEALER AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY NOW DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR A SHREDDED TIRE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS WRECK. THEY ALSO POINTED OUT THAT MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MAY BE BAD DUE TO THE EXTENT OF THE TIRE SHREDDING. THEY NOW ALSO REMIND ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. AT SLOW SPEEDS, 5 TO 10 MPH, AND WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO BRAKE FOR A STOP, THE ENGINE CAN REV TO 1750 TO 2000 RPM, PROHIBITING YOUR STOP, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. A HARD BRAKING ACTION IS NECESSARY OR SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL IS REQUIRED. AFTER DISCUSSING THIS COMPLAINT WITH ANOTHER FORD TRUCK OWN, WE'D DECIDED THAT OUR RIGHT FOOT WAS NOT ONLY ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT ALSO THE GAS PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY. AFTER TWO BREAKING I WENT TO THE DEALER AND COMPLAINED. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO REASON OR COMPLAINTS OF THIS OCCURRING.WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF STATE I HAD A THIRD STEM BREAK. EACH TIME I HAD NEW STEMS REPLACED. I BEGAN RESEARCHING FOR MYSELF AND FOUND AN ARTICLE WHICH STATED THAT FORD HAD COMPLAINTS OF DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS ON ALMOST ALL THEIR VEHICLES INCLUDING MERCURY'S. AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS AND COMPLAINTS TO MY DEALER I WENT TO A LOCAL TIRE DISTRIBUTOR AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING ALL RUBBER VALVE STEMS WITH BRASS HIGH PRESSURE VALVE STEMS. AFTER DOING THIS I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM. THE COST FOR RUBBER STEMS ARE AROUND $1.50 EACH AND I PAID $6.00 EACH FOR THE GOOD STEMS. THIS IS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY'S SAFETY. I AM CONTINUALLY HAVING THE COILS ON THE SPARK PLUGS GO OUT. I REPLACED ONE AND IT COST ME $262. NOW, I HAVE ANOTHER GOING OUT. THE TRUCK RUNS ROUGH. I WOULD REPLACE ALL OF THEM, BUT THE FORD DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED NOT TO BECAUSE THEY SAID THESE PLUGS BREAK OFF WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE THEM AND THEN TEND TO BLOW OUT OF THE ENGINE AFTER REMOVING AND REPLACING THEM. THEN, I RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET AND READ ABOUT THE HORROR STORIES ABOUT THESE FORD SPARK PLUGS. 2007 FORD F-150. SEVERE WHEEL SHAKE WAS REPORTED. UPON INSPECTION FOUND OUTER WHEEL RIM WAS SEPARATING FROM WHEEL. DISCOVERED LARGE CRACK IN THE WELD. THIS IS THE THIRD WHEEL FROM DEFERENT TRUCKS OF SAME YEAR VINTAGE WITH THIS PROBLEM. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ARE AWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT DECLINED TO DUE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE HAVE HAD A EQUAL AMOUNT OF BOTH 2006 AND 2007 F-150'S THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON. ALL OF THESE TRUCK PERFORM DIFFERENT DUTIES, SO THE TYPE OF USE IS NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM.
