WHILE MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS THE STEERING GETS HARD TO STEER THEN IT LOOSENS UP MAKING IT OVER STEER. I BELIEVE IT IS IN THE STEERING SHAFT U-JOINT BECAUSE IT IS ALL RUSTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A TSB FOR THE FAILURE (14-0114). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.

TIRE TREAD SEPARATION ON FRONT DRIVE SIDE TIRE. I WAS ABLE TO CATCH IN TIME AND HAD TIRE REPLACED BUT WOULD LIKE COMPANY TO REIMBURSE ME BECAUSE THIS BRAND OF TIRE WAS RECALLED LAST YEAR FOR THE SAME REASON BUT DID NOT INCLUDE THE P265/70R17. THE BRAND OF TIRE IS CAPITAL PRECISION TRAC II, THE TIRE SHOP THAT REPLACE THE TIRE TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT BLOW ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON REMOVING THE KEY AND RE-ENTERING THE KEY TO START THE VEHICLE, THE IGNITION SWITCH CYLINDER FRACTURED. THE CONTACT MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE SWITCH BACK INTO PLACE, BUT IT WAS NOT SECURELY CONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. 2008 FORD F150 TIRES, WITHIN THREE MONTHS AND 283 MILES ALL FOUR OF THE TIRES HAD TREAD SEPARATION AND WERE REPLACED. ..UPDATED 02/12/15*BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE TREAD SEPARATED ON THE REPLACEMENT TIRES, AS WELL. *JB
I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 FORD F150 WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STARTED SEVERE JERKING/MISSING AND LOSS OF POWER. IT CONTINUED TO GET WORSE WHILE VEHICLE WAS UNDER LOAD THEN EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD NOT START. I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE WAS A LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP DRIVER LOCATED ABOVE THE SPARE TIRE ON A STEEL CROSS MEMBER. THIS PART WAS SEVERELY CORRODED DUE TO AN ENGINEERING FLAW REPORTED BY HUNDREDS OF F150 OWNERS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY NHTSA WITH FORD AND A RECALL INITIATED TO REPLACE THIS COMPONENT WITH THE IMPROVED PART DESIGN NOW AVAILABLE. *TR

THE ENGINE 5.4 TRITON MAKES A SOUND THAT RESEMBLES A DIESEL AND SOUNDS LIKE THE PISTON IS ABOUT READY TO COME THROUGH THE BLOCK. I FIRST EXPERIENCED THIS APPROX. 3 YEARS AGO WHILE AT A DRIVE THROUGH FAST FOOD RESTAURANT. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I THEN RESTARTED AND THE NOISE HAD STOPPED. THE MOTOR NOW STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUE, AND AFTER READING MANY FORUMS STATING THE SAME CONDITIONS, DECIDED TO CALL FORD DIRECTLY. THE RESPONSE FROM FORD WAS THEY KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE ON THESE TYPES OF MOTORS, BUT ARE NOT ISSUING A RECALL FOR THE FIX. THE ISSUE IS APPARENTLY RELATED TO A KNOW CAM, TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT HAS TO HAVE THE GEARS AND TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE OF APPROX. 800-1200M DOLLARS PER SIDE ON THIS TYPE OF V8 MOTOR. I RECOMMEND THAT FORD NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THESE, AND FIX THE KNOWN ISSUE, THUS CREATING FURTHER PURCHASES FROM CONSUMERS FOR FUTURE PURCHASES OF THEIR PRODUCT. ON SUNDAY 12/14/14 AT 7PM MY 2008 FORD F-150 SHUT OFF WHEN I WAS GOING 65 MPH DOWN THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY. I WAS STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR HOURS WAITING FOR IT TO BE TOWED. TURNS OUT THE FUEL PRESSURE MODULE (FPM) THAT IS MOUNTED IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK ON A CROSSMEBER OF THE FRAME UP ABOVE THE SPARE TIRE WAS THE CAUSE. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE 2004-2008 FORD F-150 THAT USE THIS FPM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! *TR
REAR END DOES A SKIDDING WHEN COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP TO MOVING. LOOKS AS THOUGH THE BRAKES ARE NOT RELEASING LIKE THEY SHOULD, BUT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS GRINDING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. WHEN CALLING AUTO PART STORES ABOUT GETTING A REPLACEMENT, THEY HAVE ALL ADVISED THAT THIS YEARS (2008) FORD F-150S ALL HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. ALL STORES SAY IT IS THE DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCH PACKS IN THESE 2008 FORD F-150S BUT FORD WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MALFUNCTION OF THIS PART. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK HOME ON THANKSGIVING AND IT BLEW OUT A SPARK PLUG (SECOND INCIDENT, DIFFERENT CYLINDER). I WAS LATER TOLD THAT AN ENGINE FIRE COULD OCCUR FROM THE FUEL/FUMES COMING FROM THE OPEN CYLINDER HEAD. *JS

THE CLEAR COAT PAINT IS PEALING OFF THE FRONT TRUCKER AROUND THE HEADLIGHT AND FRONT BUMPER. *TR
STARTED VEHICLE WITH NO ISSUES, DROVE FROM HOME TO LOCATION APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES AWAY. DURING THE DRIVE, I COULD FEEL A "HESITATION" DURING THE AUTOMATIC SHIFTING OF GEARS. HESITATION SEEMED TO PROGRESS DURING DRIVE TO LOCATION. ARRIVED AT LOCATION WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. 3 HOURS LATER I LEFT LOCATION, IN ROUTE BACK TO MY HOME, AND NOTICED SAME HESITATION. ON THE WAY HOME THE "TRANS FAULT" CODE CAME ON AND THE "O/D OFF" INDICATOR LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING ON AND OFF. I ARRIVED AT MY HOME WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. WHILE AT HOME, I ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND IT DID NOT SHIFT FOR ALMOST 3-5 SECONDS, THEN THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO ABRUPTLY SHIFT INTO REVERSE. AT THIS POINT MY VEHICLE IS NOT OPERABLE FOR FEAR OF CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT SLOW SPEED AND SEVERE RATTLING AND LOSS OF POWER TO VEHICLE WHICH COULD EASILY RESULT IN ACCIDENT. FORD SERVICE INDICATED THAT IT WAS CAM PHASING OR OTHERWISE KNOWN AS INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING OVER RETARDED PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHICH SHOULD BE ADDRESSED VIA RECALL. *TR

MY TRUCK HAS 81K MILES ON IT AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAS GONE BAD. I HAVE NEVER IN THE PAST HEARD OF A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER FROM NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE TOP OF MY STEERING WHEEL IS SHOWING MAJOR WEAR. MY WIFE'S 2000 MINI VAN HAS NO WEAR ON IT. WHY WOULD THE TOP OF MY STEERING WHEEL BE FALLING APART? *TR
WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, NOTICED STEERING BECAME VERY TIGHT. HAD TO FORCE IT THEN IT "RELEASED" RESULTING IN AN OVER STEER AND ALMOST VEERING TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CENTERING THE WHEEL ALSO BECAME DIFFICULT AND RESULTING IN OVERSTEER THE OPPOSITE WAY. SAME PROBLEM - RIGHT OR LEFT HAND TURN. WAS INTERMITTENT BUT HAS BECOME CHRONIC NOW AND GETTING WORSE. WHEN I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN OFF A HIGHWAY RAMP, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP & THEN SNAPPED BACK & SPRAINED MY WRIST. I DON'T CARE ABOUT MY WRIST,BUT I DO CARE ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE LOWER STEERING SHAFT THAT WAS ENGINEERED WRONG TO START WITH & YOU MADE FORD ISSUE A RECALL (BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT)IN ALL THERE MID SIZED & HIGHEND CARS ALONG WITH LINCOLN & MERCURY MODELS BECAUSE IT'S A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM. I PD $38,000 FOR A TRUCK THAT HAS THE SAME DEFECTED PART YOU MADE THEM ISSUE A RECALL. SOME LINCOLNS & MERCURY CARS RECALLED ARE HEAVIER THAN MY F-150,BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER TO YOU. I ALMOST CRASHED THREW THE GUARD RAIL & IF I DID, I WOULD BE DEAD!! I WANT TO KNOW HOW YOUR AGENCY EXCLUDED THE F-150 IN THE RECALL?? ARE YOU PEOPLE ENGINEERS? DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT TAKES A FEW TRIES TO GET IT TO CLICK AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T ENGAGE ALL THE WAY AND THE LATCH COMES OUT. A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 1 LEAD THE DISCOVERY OF KNOWN ISSUES WITH SPARK PLUGS AND REMOVAL. 3 OF THE PLUGS WERE LOOSE. *TR
STARTED SHAKING AND SPUTTERING IN REVERSE AT LOW RPM. TWO TRANSMISSION SHOPS SAID IT WAS THE REVERSE BAND IN TRANSMISSION AND NEEDED REBUILD. HAD TRANS REBUILT (AT COST OF 2390.00). AFTER REBUILD, MECHANIC WAS DRIVING AND IT STILL HAD PROBLEM. AFTER RESEARCHING, HE THINKS IT IS THE CAM PHASERS CAUSING PROBLEM. HE HAD REPLACED MY PLUGS BEFORE TRANSMISSION WORK TO RULE THAT OUT (ALL 8 OF THE PLUGS BROKE WHILE TAKING THEM OUT, HE HAD NEVER SEEN ALL BREAK ON A F150 BEFORE). THIS ENGINE/TRANSMISSION IS A BAD DESIGN ALL AROUND AND FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP, ADMIT IT AND FIX AND OR REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS FOR REPAIRS. YOU CAN SPEND THOUSANDS CHASING PROBLEMS IN THIS POWER TRAIN! EVEN THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION REBUILD DID NOT FIX THE INITIAL PROBLEM, THE REAR BAND WAS WORN, AND THE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION HAD A SMALL DENT AND HAIR LINE CRACKS, SO IT WAS GOING TO FAIL EVENTUALLY! THE TRANSMISSION SHOP SAID THIS IS COMMON IN THESE. I WANT SOMETHING DONE! *TR
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD RUBBER COVER MOLDING WAS DEFECTIVE. THE RUBBER MOLDING FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE RUBBER TO BECOME TRAPPED IN THE WINDSHIELD DOCK AREA AND CAN BE RELEASED WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSED A CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED WAS DRIVING 35 MPH AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AS SMOKE BILLOWED FROM THE EXHAUST. AFTER THE CONTACT ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN, IT WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEALS WERE LEAKING TO THE BEARINGS AND THE TURBO OF THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM HAD FAILED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

COMPONENT LOCATED UNDERNEATH BOLTED TO THE FRAME.CALLED AND EMAILED SPITZER FORD,LOCAL DEALER, AND THEY'RE UNSURE OR ACTED LIKE THE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM. WHY IS IT THAT FORD NORTH AMERICA IS SHORT HANDED OF THE FPDM?

I HAVE A 2008 FORD F-150 KING RANCH WITH A 5.4 L ENGINE. EXHAUST STUDS HAVE SNAPPED OFF CAUSING A LEAK FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND CARBON MONOXIDE FILLS THE CAB OF THIS VEHICLE SETTING AT IDLE. WE TOOK TO FORD DEALER AND THEY HAD A BULLETIN FROM FORD ABOUT FAULTY ENGINES IN 2008 F 150'S AND SAID FORD WOULD REPLACE THE ENGINE. THEY CALLED BACK NOW AND SAID THEY FOUND SOME SLUDGE IN BOTTOM OF ENGINE WHICH ONLY HAS 41,000 MILES ON IT AND SAID FORD WILL NOT COVER IT. THIS IS A FORD DEFAULT AND THEIR LIABILITY. READY TO JOIN THE CLASS ACTION AGAINST THEM ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
