The contact's son owned a 2009 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while approximately 10 MPH, he observed smoke emanating from the glove box and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact steered the vehicle to the side of the road, and he observed a small fire by the accelerator pedal. The contact exited the vehicle and opened the hood. The contact stated that flames erupted from the engine compartment when the hood was opened, and he called 911. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. A police report was taken, but the info was not available at this time. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was deemed totaled. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 201,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. Additionally, the ABS and TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle slowed down; however, the brake pedal needed to be depressed to the floorboard to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone and O’Reilly’s where it was diagnosed with a failed ABS module. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that it was a known failure for similar vehicles. In addition, the contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included in a recall related to the failure. The contact stated that it was difficult to locate the part needed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.
My pickup truck at only 23 thousand miles in the engine, it's module went bad and brake and ABS lights came on on the dashboard. I took the car to the dealer and they said that I have to replace it and they are charging me 5,400 dollars. They said that some 2009 F150 module were bad from factory, but there's not recalls for it to be fixed by them.
My airbag warning light came on. The dealer found 2 codes and replaced the parts. When they were done another code came up for weight sensor which is the seat frame. I was told that the part has been discontinued. I have searched for an aftermarket part with no luck. I purchased a used seat but it was not compatible I have a16 year old truck. The service life is as I understand it is 14-20 years. I don’t understand how the manufacturer can stop making safety parts while the vehicle is still in its service life

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his son was driving at approximately 25 MPH, the steering wheel detached. The driver was able to reattach the steering wheel and safely pull over. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, who referred him to an independent mechanic for assistance. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who replaced the standard clockspring in the steering wheel, part number CSP200. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was too old, and no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
There's been recalls on the 2009 Ford f150 and my car is having hydraulic pump issues and a couple other issues that were recalled and I was just trying to get some assistance?
Random downshift to first gear while traveling down the highway at 70mph resulting in wheel lock-up and engine redline.
AC electric wiring becomes hot and only blows at 1 speed, also with time has become corroded diplaying a live open wire under passanger area, seems it is the following Block Heater Cable Splice Connector May Corrode Prolonged corrosion of the connector may cause a resistive short, overheating or melting the wiring and increasing the risk of a fire. safety recall 19V048 below Also I can not find an open recall for the following issue my vehicle still has now that I researched it, it is a recall and my ford has not been fixed inregards to the following, Block Heater Cable Splice Connector May Corrode THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HOUSING EMBOSSMENT RETAINING THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SPRING MAY FRACTURE DURING NORMAL USAGE RESULTING IN INSUFFICIENT SPRING FORCE TO RETURN THE HANDLE TO THE FULLY STOWED POSITION.
Frame of the body is completely rusted through to the point that it is almost unsafe to drive. It was identified when attempting to replace the rocker panel on the passenger side and the list put a hole in the frame. The vehicle has been well maintained but the amount of rust seems unusual for the age of the vehicle. I know the previous owner and he took painstakingly good care of the vehicle and it has been driven very little since I purchased it a couple of years back. The fix is to repair the frame at the cost of $3k plus or let it rust away completely. The amount of rust does not add up and I see similar issues with thousands of comments online.

The contact pulled over to the side of the road and waited for towing assistance to tow the vehicle to the residence. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic and was diagnosed with an ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to the Customer Satisfaction Program: 09C07 (Brake Stop lamp Switch Adjustment); however, the VIN was not included in the Customer Satisfaction Program. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact stated that the failure persisted since November 2022. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 183,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford F-150. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, it would not start. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle fuel pump had failed and determined that it needed to be replaced. The repair was made, however, the failure persisted. The independent mechanic checked the vehicle fuses and replaced a 20 AMP fuse and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure re-occurred and he drove the vehicle to a dealer. The contact had researched that the failure was related to Manufacturer TSB Number: TSB-15-0137 and NHTSA Campaign Number: 10074713 (Engine). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 218,000.
Door Striker Plate, latching Hook on Rocker Plate, lower side of driver side door frame, between front and rear doors is rusted. This does not allow the doors, front or rear driver side, to close securely. Attempted to contact Ford dealerships with no response. Took to independent Body Shop who said it is definitely a safety issue.
My vehicle occasionally gets stuck in a low gear. It has also stalled in a busy intersection. I have taken it to be diagnosed at an independent service center that specializes in transmissions and was told that the problem was the lead frame which has been recalled on later models of my vehicle.
Exhaust gas is leaking into cab from manifold, because several studs broke
Same old fuse issue, with only 56,000 miles. Ford is aware, they have a kit to by pass the problem, how ever they will not pay for repair (no recall). Cost almost $500.00 to fix their poor design issue. Buyers beware.

The vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to a faulty cam phaser. Additionally, the contact was informed that the timing chain and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.
Fuel pump fuse failed. Known issue under TSB-15-0137. Failure of the fuel pump at speed can result in a dangerous situation. I feel this should be covered under recall as the attached picture clearly shows an electrical overload condition.
WHILE IN DRIVE AT IDLE SPEED THE TRUCKS RPM JUMPED TO APPROXIMATELY 4000 RPM INSTANTLY . I HAD TO PUSH MY FOOT BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD AND PUT SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL THEN IT WAS OK FOR A WHILE THEN THIS HAPPENED AGAIN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER TOOK TO DEALER NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
HARD TO STEER
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON SIDE IMPACT FROM DRIVER GOING 40-50MPH AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY FOR FRONT IMPACT INTO POLE. I WAS CROSSING INTERSECTION HAS THE LIGHT TURN GREEN AND WAS HIT BY A DRIVER WHO RAN RED LIGHT. THE CAR PUSH THE TRUCK INTO A LIGHT POLE AND THE ENGINE BAY WRAP AROUND IT.
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG BEING OFF EVEN WHEN THERE IS SOMEONE SITTING IN THE SEAT.
TWO SEPARATE TIMES DRIVING IN MOTION WHILE PRESSING DOWN THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR JUMPS TO 6000+ RPM AND WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN OR RESPOND TO BRAKES. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP WAS TO FORCE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN OFF ENGINE COASTING TO A STOP.
VEHICLE DIED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT FIRE. HAD TO BE TOWED TO FORD DEALER AT COST OF $90. WAS ADVISED BY DEALER SERVICE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FUSE 27 MELTED AND DAMAGED THE FUSE BOX. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR F-150 VEHICLES FOR YEARS 2009 - 2014. TSB 15-0137 WAS ISSUED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015 BUT NO RECALL WAS ISSUED. COST TO REPAIR WAS $466 OUT OF MY POCKET. FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SIX MODEL YEARS THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. JUST GLAD I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
The gas pedal got stuck while I was driving. I couldn't stop it and lost control. It caused a horrific car accident. 10 people were involved and I'm currently fighting the case in court to prove I was not reckless. It has been inspected by my insurance but unfortunately it was only for damages and not for mechanical issues regarding the gas pedal.
WHILE IN MOTION, LIGHT CAME ON BRAKE FLUID LOW. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, AND WE LOOKED, BUT DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY SEE ANY PUDDLE, OR SIGN OF RAPID LOSS OF FLUID, FILLED MASTER CYLINDER BACK UP, AND DROVE 15 MILES HOME. ON THE WAY, I NOTICED THE PEDAL WAS SPONGY, WHEN I GOT HOME, I LOOKED, AND HAD LOST 1/4 OF THE FLUID IN THE MASTER CYLINDER.I GOT IN THE TRUCK, PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, FELT IT GOING DOWN, GOT OUT, AND SAW IT WAS LEAKING RAPIDLY FROM A JUNCTION OF THE BRAKE HOSE GOING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE (ABS BOX?) WHERE IT GOES FROM RUBBER TO METAL. I GOT A NEW ONE FROM THE DEALER TODAY DUBLIN FORD, DUBLIN GA. [$33.00] AND NOTICED THAT IS HAS BEEN MUCH IMPROVED OVER THE ORIGINAL. THIS TELLS ME THAT FORD KNEW IT HAD A PROBLEM, WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ITEM, AND DIDN'T RECALL FOR IT. IT ALSO TELLS ME THAT THERE ARE PROBABLY A BUNCH OF F150'S OUT THERE THAT ARE AT RISK OF BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF A $33 PART. *TR
'09 F150 FX4 W/ 40,900MI. AFTER DRIVING HOME AND GETTING TO MY DRIVEWAY, I HAD TO DRAG MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE INTO THE PARKING SPOT - IT WAS TOTALLY LOCKED AND EXTREMELY HOT/SMOKING. UPON INVESTIGATING, I COULD NOT GET THE BRAKE CALIPER PISTONS TO RETRACT UNLESS I CRACKED THE BLEEDER OPEN. LAST NIGHT I REPLACED EVERYTHING BRAKE RELATED ON THE WHEEL INCLUDING THE RUBBER FLEX LINE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CALIPER WAS FINE. WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS/IS THAT THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE RUBBER FLEX BRAKE LINE WAS OVER CRIMPED AND PARTIALLY RESTRICTING THE BRAKE FLUID. SECONDLY, CORROSION/RUST HAD BUILT UP BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE OF THE RUBBER BRAKE LINE AND THE INSIDE OF THE BRACKET. AS THE RUST CONTINUED TO BUILD, IT COMPRESSED THE BRAKE LINE UNTIL IT WAS COMPLETELY PINCHED. BY ESTIMATE, I'D SAY THE RIGHT ONE WAS 100% RESTRICTED, AND THE LEFT WAS 90% RESTRICTED. UPON SPEAKING WITH A NEIGHBOR WITH AN '08 F150, HE HAD A VERY SIMILAR OCCURRENCE WHERE THE TIRE WAS ROLLED OFF THE RIM WHEN THE TIRE LOCKED. HE HAD HAVE IT TOWED FOR REPAIRS. MY CONCERN IS THIS IS A FLORIDA TRUCK WITH LIMITED EXPOSURE TO THE MIDWEST. THE RESTRICTED BRAKE LINE OVER TIME HAD TO HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED MY BRAKING CAPACITY OF THE FRONT WHEELS. OBVIOUSLY, AT THE END, IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE BRAKE HAD LOCKED AT SPEED, SIGNIFICANT CONTROLLABILITY ISSUES WOULD HAVE RESULTED. IN THE PICTURES, YOU CAN SEE THE RUST ON THE VICE THAT CAME OUT WHEN WE PRIED THE BRACKET OPEN AND SLIDE THE LINE OUT. THE OTHER PICTURE HAS WHERE THE PAD BURNED INTO THE ROTOR DUE TO EXCESS HEAT AFTER I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RETRACT THE CALIPER AND FREE THE ROTOR. *TR
PROBLEM 1: MY TRUCKS TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES ON SNOW AND THROWS THE WHEELS INTO A SLIDE RATHER THAN STABILIZES THE VEHICLE. I TURN SWAY AND/OR TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND IT TURNS ITSELF BACK ON WHENEVER I STOP AND THEN GET BACK IN AND RESTART THE TRUCK. PROBLEM 2: THIS TRUCK WILL NOT GIVE AN ACCURATE READ ON GAS IN THE TANK AS THE NEEDLE IS ALWAYS GETTING STUCK. I GAUGE BY MILES GONE AS TO WHEN I NEED GAS. (JUST STOPPED TO GET GAS THOUGHT I WAS OUT BUT NEEDLE WENT OVER 1/2 WHICH IS WHAT I PUT IN.) BUT THERE ARE MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUES SUCH AS THE DOORS THAT UNLOCK DURING THE NIGHT WHEN I HAVE LOCKED ALL DOORS, BY MORNING ONE OR MORE DOORS OFTEN ON PASSENGER SIDE UNLOCK THEMSELVES. AND SYNC ALWAYS DOES IT'S OWN THING WITH MY IPHONE X, NEVER KNOW IF IT WILL CONNECT OR BE DISCONNECTED WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT GOES FROM HANDS FREE ANSWER IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONVERSATION TO SUDDENLY IN PRIVACY MODE. THESE PROBLEMS ARE WHILE IN MOTION AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. PROBLEM 3: TRUCK SPEEDOMETER IS VERY DIFFICULT TO READ DUE TO HASH MARKS FOR SPEED INSTEAD OF NUMBERS AT 20, 40, 60, ETC SPEEDS. NEARLY GOT A TICKET FOR LOOKING DOWN TOO LONG TO READ MY DISPLAY. STARTING TO HATE THIS TRUCK AS I NEVER KNOW WHAT IT WILL DO OR NOT DO. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS IT IS A CONSISTENT DISTRACTION. SO MUCH FOR SAFETY DUE TO TECHNOLOGY. IF OTHERS HAVE THESE ISSUES WELL IT'S NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE DRIVING SO BADLY NOW.
I OWN A 2009 FORD F150 XLT 4 DOOR. SINCE ENGAGING THE CHILD SAFETY FEATURE TO THE LOCK POSITION, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OPEN EITHER DOOR FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. I HAVE SINCE SWITCHED BACK THE UNLOCK POSITION AND BOTH REAR DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. PASSENGERS CAN NOT EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD.
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM THE SEAT HEATER. KEPT SMELL A BURNING SMELL AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THE SOURCE. PARKED THE TRUCK AND LOOKED OUTS DE ABOUT AN HOUR LATER. SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE CAB. OPENED THE DOOR AND SAW SEAT ON FIRE. YOU ASSENGER USED THE SEAT HEATER PRIOR. NO ONE SMOKES IN MY FAMILY SO THERE WAS NO OTHER HEAT SOURCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE AT A STANDSTILL, THE CONTACT WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT MODERATE SPEEDS. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT HAVE A LOW SENSING MECHANISM CAUSING HIM TO JOLT FORWARD AND THE SEAT BELT TIGHTENED TOO TIGHTLY ON HIM RESULTING IN MICRO TEARS OF HIS INTESTINES. THE CONTACT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION THAT LEAD TO SURGERY AND THE REMOVAL OF PORTIONS OF HIS INTESTINES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE RESIDENCE OF THE CONTACT WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FRAME CRACK WHICH RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.
SPARK PLUG BLOWOUT WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. COMMON PROBLEM WITH 4.6L 2V TRITON ENGINES FROM MY SEARCH RESULTS. FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE ISSUE AS THERE IS ONLY A FEW THREADS HOLDING THE SPARK PLUG IN THE ENGINE HEADS.
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN NOV 2018, LESS THAN ONE YEAR THAN THE DATE OF THIS CLAIM. ON NINE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING: LOSS OF ALL ELECTRICAL POWER, STEERING, ACCELERATION CONTROL, FUEL PUMP/INJECTORS, TIMING OF THE RPM, AND OTHER RELATED ISSUES LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, IMMEDIATELY AND INSTANTANEOUSLY STALLED OUT ON HIGHWAYS AND MAJOR FREEWAYS WITHOUT WARNING, SOME OF WHICH NEARLY LED TO VEHICULAR ACCIDENTS FROM SUDDEN LOSS OF ALL ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT AND POWER OF THE TRUCK, WITH HUNDREDS OF INDIVIDUALS HAVING EXPERIENCED THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL F-150. IN THE MIDST OF ALL OF THIS, I'VE SPENT OVER $3,500+ IN REPAIRS BETWEEN THE DATE OF PURCHASE TO DATE OF THIS CLAIM TO THE ECM, FUEL PUMP MODULE, FUEL INJECTOR HARNESS, BATTERY, IGNITION SWITCH, MASS FLOW AIR SENSOR, CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS, SERPENTINE BELT, AND NORMAL MAINTENANCE, AND HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT I NOW NEED A NEW ENGINE, ANOTHER $5,000 ON TOP OF THE PRESENT $6,784 LIEN CURRENTLY ON THE VEHICLE. THE PHYSICAL SAFETY OF MYSELF AND OTHERS HAS NOT ONLY BEEN PLACED IN JEOPARDY, BUT THIS ISSUE AND VEHICLE HAS PLACED ME IN A SERIOUS, DELINQUENT, AND SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE FINANCIAL POSITION. I CAN'T EVEN GET THE CAR TO RUN NOW, IT WILL NOT DRIVE AFTER THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED OUT 15 DAYS AGO AS I LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ON FREEWAY; ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND HAD NO OIL PRESSURE. TIMING CHAINS, ROD, MAIN BEARING AND CAMSHAFTS ALL NEED REPAIR WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT I WON'T BE PLACED IN THE SAME OR SIMILAR POSITION AGAIN IF I WERE TO CORRECT, POSSIBLE BANKRUPTCY IF LEFT UNCORRECTED. FORD WANTS $400 MORE FOR INSPECTION, MAKES NO GUARANTEE ALL ISSUES WILL HE IDENTIFIED AND REFUSES TO MAKE REPAIRS OR TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR FAULTY 5.4L V8 TRITON ENGINE & ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT ARE 'BUILT FORD TOUGH.' PLEASE HELP.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE MORNING OF OCTOBER 5 2019, I HEARD A LOUD POP ABOVE MY HEAD. I SLOWLY PUSHED BACK THE SUNROOF VISOR TO GET A LOOK, AND THE GLASS HAD EXPLODED OUTWARD. NOTHING APPEARS TO HAVE STRUCK THE GLASS. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS SOON AS I WAS ABLE, PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO INSPECT AND TAKE PHOTOS. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I DROVE IT A FEW BLOCKS TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND GOT A SERVICE PERSON TO INSPECT IT AS WELL, AND HE AGREED WITH MY ASSESSMENT OF THE WAY IT BROKE. I GOT A VERBAL ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE GLASS AND THE TRACK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOE MACHENS FORD (1911 W WORLEY, COLUMBIA, MO 65203) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE THAT CONTROLLED THE FUEL PUMP HAD BURNED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,628.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, A PULSATION OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE BRAKE ROTORS, PADS, AND CALIPERS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 151,000 MILES ON IT. IT RAN GOOD FOR A COUPLE WEEKS THEN IT STALLED WHEN I WAS GOING INTO A LEFT HAND TURN BUT RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE STALLED UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. AT A IDLE, AT 70 MILES AN HOUR ON THE INTERSTATE, IN THE CITY AT 40 MPH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY IN AN ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION ZONE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AUTOMATICALLY DROPPED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT DECELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED INTO A DITCH TO AVOID A CRASH. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FULL PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEFORE IT WOULD DISENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,365
RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, BOTH THE ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OF MY TRUCK. THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED A READING OF CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO HAVE A PULSATION TO THEM AND THE TRUCK JUST DID NOT WANT TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A MECHANICAL SHOP WHERE THEY CHARGED ME TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM CAUSING THESE SYMPTOMS. THEIR FINDINGS WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS REVEALED A FAILED ABS MODULE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY.

THE REAR DRIVE SHAFT BETWEEN TRANSFER CASE AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS HELD BY A DRIVE SHAFT BRACKET/BEARING WHERE THE TOP OF IT IS WELDED TO THE FRAME CROSS MEMBER. DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE POORLY WELDED BRACKET CAME LOOSE. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE THE WELD WAS POORLY DONE AND HAD NO PENETRATION INTO THE METAL. THE METAL WAS NOT TORN AT ALL AND BROKE COMPLETELY CLEAN OFF WHICH DICTATE A VERY POOR JOB ON THE WELD ITSELF. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THIS PART IS BASICALLY A DUAL SHARP BLADES AT THE WELD BREAK, CONNECTED TO THE DRIVE SHAFT AT FAST RPMS WOULD TAKE LITTLE TO NO TIME TO PUNCTURE AND IGNITE THE NEAR BY FUEL TANK. AS I WAS TRAVELING AT SLOW SPEEDS I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE RIGHT AWAY. IF THIS BREAK OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I FEEL THAT IT WOULD HAVE EASILY PUNCTURED THE FUEL TANK AND IGNITED THE FUEL CAUSING CATASTROPHIC FIRE AND PROBABLE EXPLOSION THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN AND QUIT RUNNING. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK AND ONLY AVOIDED A MAJOR ACCIDENT BECAUSE I HAD ROOM TO GO TO THE RIGHT AND THE SEMI HAD ROOM TO SWERVE AROUND ME ON THE LEFT. WHEN I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A MELTED FUSE BUT THAT THEY WERE ALREADY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAD A "FIX" KIT IN STOCK AND THE REPAIR PROCESS ALREADY DOCUMENTED TO REROUTE THAT FUSE. THIS MEANS THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND I PRESUME WAS JUST WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE ISSUING A RECALL.I HAVE THE REPAIR ORDER AVAILABLE IF NEEDED. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THEREFORE I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ENTIRE $650.00 COST AND DID NOT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPS RUNNING.
THE TRUCK IS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AT ALL SPEEDS. MY HUSBAND HAS TO PULL AND RESET FUSE 27 TO ALLOW THE FUEL PUMP TO RECIEVE POWER. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THAT DEVICE DOES FOR THE AIR BAGS ASSEMBLY, BUT I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE REPLACE THIS FREE OF CHARGE; REGARDLESS OF THE YEAR OF THE TRUCK OR THE MILES ON THE TRUCK.
