ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING (EPAS) FAILURE. AT LOW SPEEDS STEERING WOULD LOCK UP WHILE TURNING.
DRIVING ALONG AT 50MPH ON FLAT ROAD AND SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST GEAR CAUSING REAR WHEELS TO SQUEAL LASTING .5 TO 1 SECOND. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR FIND ANY CODE.
THE CAR ALWAYS WHEN STARTING IT THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES OUT AND I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF MANUALLY FROM THE DASHBOARD, ALSO THE TRANSMISSION IS HITTING WHEN STARTING UP THE CAR ONLY HAS 120 THOUSAND MILES WHEN I START THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME IT HAS 140 THOUSAND MILES AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES PROBLEM
IT WAS A COLD MORNING AND I SWITCHED ON THE REAR WINDOW HEAT TO CLEAR THE WINDOW. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN HAD BEEN DISCHARGED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. ALL DASHBOARD INDICATORS WERE IN THE NORMAL RANGE. AS I LEFT WORK LATER THAT DAY, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE REAR WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. ALL OF THE GLASS FRAGMENTS HAD REMAINED IN THE WINDOW FRAME. I BELIEVE THAT THE WINDOW HEAT MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE REAR WINDOW TO SHATTER. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS.
SUDDENLY STEERING WHEEL LOCK, ADVANCE TRACK SENSOR LIT , EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN , VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE NO RECALL AVAILABLE, BUT TOO MANY ISSUES APPARENTLY WAITING FOR A FATALITY TO HAPPEN BEFORE A RECALL VEHICLE STATIONARY/IN CITY/ HAPPENED 2 TIMES ALREADY I'M AFRAID THIS HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION. DIAGNOSED RACK AND PINION EPAS
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE STORE WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I CONNECTED A CODE READER AND PULLED A P0016. CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT CORRELATION SENSOR. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A MECHANIC TO FIND OUT WHAT CAN CAUSE THIS CODE. AFTER CHECKING OUT THE ENGINE THEY FOUND THAT THE PRIMARY TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED CAUSING THE PLAY IN THE ENGINE. THIS PLAY CAUSES THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT TIMING TO BE OFF ENOUGH TO CAUSE THIS ENGINE CODE. THIS TRUCK HAS 55000 MILES ON IT AND IN NO WAY SHOULD BE HAVING TIMING CHAIN ISSUES THIS SOON. CLEARLY FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS TIMING CHAIN AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPEND $3,500.00 TO HAVE THIS FIXED. THIS IS A GROWING PROBLEM FOR FOLKS WHO HAVE THESE TRUCKS AND NEEDS TO OFFER A SOLUTION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING ON A CONGESTED INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE LOST SPEED RAPIDLY CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE TRYING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. THE SYSTEM WENT INTO "SAFE MODE, ALSO KNOWN AS LIMP HOME." THIS MALFUNCTION (FORD CODE P2112) HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE LIFE OF THE TRUCK.
F-150 TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT INTO GEAR AT SOME POINTS, WILL UP SHIFT INTO 3RD OR 5TH GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING RANDOMLY AND WILL DROP INTO 2ND/1ST GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE TO THE POINT THAT IT IS ALMOST DAILY. VEHICLE IS NOW UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE.
COLD START HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR, THAT I'VE DETERMINED IS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN AND COMMONLY REPORTED AND COMPLAINED ABOUT BY ECOBOOST OWNERS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY FORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR WHILE BRAKING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SALEM FORD (60 S BROADWAY, SALEM, NH 03079, (603) 898-9766) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V075000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. REAR DEFROST DOES NOT OPERATE. REPAIR IS REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE REAR WINDOW "WINDSHIELD" OVER $1000.00. SIDE MIRROR HEATER DOES NOT OPERATE.
TRANSMISSION UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFTS INTO LOWER GEAR. WAS INFORMED BY FORD DEALER IN WRITING THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE LEAD FRAME ASSEMBLY. BRAKES FAIL ON COLD START. VACUUM PUMP REPLACED BY DEALER. BRAKES STILL EXPERIENCE ISSUE (AS DESCRIBED IN FORD'S CAMPAIGN) WAS INFORMED BY FORD THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER.
STEERING STICKS WHEN MAKING A TURN, MUST BE PULLED BACK TO STRAIGHTEN OUT. WHILE DRIVING
MY 2011 FORD F-150 PICK-UP IS SHIFTING VERY HARD FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR. THE HARD SHIFT CAUSES MY PICK-UP TO LURCH FORWARD ABRUPTLY. IT ALSO SHIFTS HARD SOME OF THE TIME WHEN IT SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. I TOOK MY PICK-UP TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER, AND THEY RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION UPDATE FOR $100.00 NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.
MISFIRE AT HIGH SPEEDS. CAUSING ENGINE SHAKE AND UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. DUE TO THIS PROBLEM IT IS A HUGE RISK OF BEING REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF SPEED DROP. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN . SPARK PLUG AND COIL CHANGE ONLY HELPS FOR A MONTH AT A TIME. THIS IS IN THE ECOBOOST MODEL
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING MAKING IT EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER VEHICLE. OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO STEERING WHEEL AT ANY SPEED TO KEEP VEHICLE ON THE ROAD OR WITHIN LANE OF TRAVEL. I NOTICED THIS ISSUE DRIVING ON CITY STREET WHEN I WENT TO TURN AT A CORNER. THIS ISSUE WOULD MAKE RECOVERY FOR SKID IN WINTER WEATHER EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.
VEHICLE, LOSING POWER GOING UP HILLS RPM CLIMES SLOWLY. ALMOST FULL LOSS OF POWER AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THAN OFF AFTER STOPPING
TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFTED FROM 6TH GEAR TO FIRST AND LOCKED UP THE REAR TIRES.
WHILE DRIVING IN NORMAL CONDITIONS AT A CONSTANT SPEED THE SPEEDOMETER WILL START JUMPING AROUND AND THE TRUCK WILL DOWNSHIFT TO MATCH THE LOWER SPEEDS. I WAS TRAVELING AT 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED GREATLY REDUCING MY SPEED CAUSING THE VEHICLE FOLLOWING ME TO SWERVE TO AVOID A COLLISION. OCCASIONALLY WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A START THE TRUCK WILL IMMEDIATELY SHIFT TO 5TH GEAR LOSING ALL ACCELERATION. IF I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT IMMEDIATELY THE PROBLEM WILL USUALLY GO AWAY.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70-75 MPH, TRANSMISSION SELF-SHIFTED FROM 6TH GEAR TO 3RD GEAR. DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL, BOTH REQUIRING REPAIR. VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHE DOWNSHIFT OCCURRED. COULD HAVE CAUSED COLLISION.
MOLDED LEAD-FRAME RECALL (16N02). THE OUTPUT FROM THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR (OSS) IS INTERMITTENT. HOWEVER, IT IS RARELY OUT LONG ENOUGH FOR THE COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE A PROBLEM.THE COMPUTER REQUIRES A LOSS OF THIS SIGNAL FOR A FULL 15SEC BEFORE IT WILL THROW A CODE. OTHERWISE IT WILL JUST CONTINUE TO REGISTER THE LAST REGISTERED SPEED. THE RESULT OF THE LOSS OF THE OSS IS VERY HARD SHIFTING WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND SOMETIMES TOTAL LOSS OF ANY GEARS. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS SEVERAL TIME IN A DAY WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. THIS HAS MADE IN-TOWN DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS. THE LOSS OF THE OSS IN STRAIGHT STRETCHES IS USUALLY NOT NOTICEABLE UNLESS DRIVING WITH THE CRUSE CONTROL ON. WHILE ON CRUSE, THERE WILL BE A MOMENTARY LOSS OF SPEED REGULATION WHICH WILL RESUME IN A FEW SECONDS WHEN THE OSS RESUMES OPPERATION. THE FORD DEALER WILL NOT FIX THIS UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND ANY CODES IN THE COMPUTER. WE JUST PICKED UP THE TRUCK FROM THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 12/27/2017 WITH NO PROBLEMS FOUND OR REPAIRS DONE. THE TRUCK ACTED UP FOUR TIMES ON THE WAY BACK HOME THAT DAY. BUT AGAIN, NO CODES WERE GENERATED. FINDING A CODE SHOULD NOT BE THE ONLY PROVISION TO FIXING THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND APPEARS TO MISFIRE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE AND BLACK SMOKE APPEARS FROM THE EXHAUST. THIS OCCURS MOSTLY WHILE TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED IN THE BEGINNING AND THE CODE REFERENCED A PROBLEM WITH ONE OF THE IGNITION COILS WHICH WAS SUBSEQUENTLY CHANGED BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED WITHOUT ANY CODES APPEARING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE GEAR SHIFTER MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS WHEN PROMPTED AND THAT THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR DID NOT ILLUMINATE. METRO FORD AUTO SALES IN TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FINNIN FORD (3600 DUBUQUE ST, DUBUQUE, IA 52003, 563-556-1010) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. *TT *JS THE CONSUMER STATED 7 WIRES WERE BURNT THROUGH IN THE WIRING HARNESS. *JS *TR

I OFTEN CAN NOT TURN ON THE CAR DUE TO THE "P" PARKING LIGHT NOT TURN ON. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS SOME SENSOR THAT HAS AN INTERMITTENT FAULT. I ALREADY WENT TO FORD AUTONATION - MARGATE, FL AND THEY DID NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, BUT I'VE BEEN SUFFERING FROM THIS SAME DEFECT FOR A LONG TIME.
2011 F-150 FORD TRUCK 3.7 V6 REPLACE BATTERY 10/2017 12/12/17,12/13/17,12/14/17 TRUCK STALLS, WHEN IN MOVEMENT, (WRENCH APPEARS) ON SCREEN SLOW DOWNS LOCKS UP. PARK TRUCK SIDE OF ROAD-UNABLE TO USE. SHUT DOWN RESTART 10 MINS TRUCK RESPONDS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED? LOCAL MECHANIC COMPUTER UNABLE TO SAY WHAT IS WRONG UNLESS TRUCK STALLS INFRONT OF MECHANIC TO GET CODE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY NEEDS TO RESPONSE TO THIS IMMEDIATELY. ON THE INTERNET PEOPLE ARE GOING CRAZY.
GOING AROUND 70MPH ON ROUTE 95, TRUCK SUDDENLY SHIFTS FROM 6TH GEAR DOWN TO 1ST ON IT'S OWN, REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP AND I SKIDDED NEARLY OFF THE ROAD. LUCKILY I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN INTO THE WINDSHIELD IT WAS SO JOLTING. CAME TO A STOP, NO DASH LIGHTS OR ENGINE INDICATORS CAME ON. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF, WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES, TURNED THE TRUCK BACK ON, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK, SLOWLY DROVE THE NEXT 2 MILES TO MY OFFICE. CHECKING FORD'S WEBSITE, THERE APPEARS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME IS THE ISSUE, CAUSING RANDOM DOWNSHIFTS.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRANSMISSION CHANGED GEARS SPERATICLY FROM 1 TO 2 TO 5TH BACK TO FIRST CAUSING MY REAR END TO LOCK UP TEMPORARILY THEN SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. THE METERS SHOWED THAT IT WAS THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED CONTROL SENSOR. I WAS IN WAYNESBORO, MS ON JOHN PERRY MCMICHAEL RD.THIS PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED IN MANY OF THE 6R80 TRANSMISSIONS OF THIS SAME YEAR.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY BOX FAILED AND CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO BURN. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED CAVALIER FORD LINCOLN GREENBRIER (1515 S MILITARY HWY, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320, PHONE: 757) 424-1111) AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT THE FAILURE AND, IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED, THERE WOULD BE A FEE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN #16V248000 .... WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTS. THE RPMS WILL THEN BEGIN FLUCTUATING UP AND DOWN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER AND LURCH. THE TRANSMISSION THEN BEGINS TO SLIP AROUND. THE INDICATOR SHOWS IT BOUNCING FROM 2 TO 6 TO 1. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY HOOKED IT UP TO CHECK THE SENSORS AND IT CAME BACK THAT THE SOLENOIDS WERE STUCK. THEY RESET THE SENSORS, BUT THE SYMPTOMS BEGAN AGAIN NOT MORE THAN 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD.
DOOR LATCH SYMBOL COMES ON AND DINGS. AND THEN INTERIOR LOVE GOT STAYS ON.
OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENCER GOES BAD IT DROPE TRANSMISSION TO FIRST GEAR WITH NO WARMING CAUSING THE TIRES TO SLIE AND ENGINE TO REACH EXCESSIVE RPM. FELLS LIKE STOMPING ON THE BREAKS
ON 11/25/17 I WAS TRAVELLING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THE TRUCK STARTED BUCKING AND DOWNSHIFTING. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND PARK THE TRUCK AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A TRUSTED REPAIR SHOP. THE TRUCK WAS STILL BUCKING FAIRLY VIOLENTLY EVEN AT SLOW SPEEDS WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PARK IT. THE TRUCK WOULD ALSO NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED AND A TRANSMISSION SHIFT SOLENOID AND HARNESS WAS FOUND TO BE FAULTY.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT WHICH RESULTED IN ME ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. WHILE MOVING, THE STEERING WOULD LOCK UP FOR A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE ALLOWING ME TO ADJUST THE WHEEL. AFTER TAKING A TURN, THE STEERING LOCKS OUT IN THE DIRECTION OF THE TURN AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THE TRUCK BACK DRIVING STRAIGHT. APPARENTLY THIS IS GOING TO COST ME OVER 1,500$ TO GET FIXED. FORD HAS DONE RECALLS OF THOUSANDS OF OTHER VEHICLES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, SO WHY NOT INCLUDE THE F-150 IN THE RECALLS? PEOPLE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ALMOST 2 GRAND OUT OF POCKET FOR FAULTY PARTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT IS GOING TO LEAD TO SOMEONE BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.
2011 FORD F-150 LARIAT APPROXIMATELY 77,000 MILES. POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING COMES ON AND OFF ALONG WITH THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT. SO FAR IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHILE STATIONARY SO OTHER THAN BEING DIFFICULT TO STEER THERE HASN'T BEEN AN ISSUE BUT IF IT HAPPENS WHEN TURNING IT COULD DEFINITELY CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH. AFTER A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH I FOUND THIS IS A TREMENDOUS ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR MODEL TRUCK. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF FORD RECALLING THOUSANDS OF OTHER MODELS FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING ASSIST.
BACKED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. SCREEN WENT BLANK TO INDICATE GEAR. VERY LOUD NOISE WHEN IT FINALLY SHIFTED INTO GEAR AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. DEALER REPAIRED AND SAID IT WOULD BE UNDER RECALL. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF MONTHS TO GET PARTS AND DEALER SAID NOT TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY.
RACK AND PINION IS SHOT. THE STEERING WOULD STICK WHILE YOU WERE DRIVING IT OVER THE LAST 2 YRS. WENT TO MOVE THE TRUCK INTO OUR SHOP AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP ON IT.
I HAVE A 2011 F150 WITH 65K MILES. I NOTICED EXTRA PLAY IN THE STEERING AT JUST UNDER 60K MILES. I HAD POWER STEERING MODULE RECALIBRATED. I THOUGHT THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. APPROX 3MOS LATER I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. LOSS OF CONTROL AT HIGH SPEEDS AND CORNERS. I HAD ALIGNMENT DONE TODAY WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED A $1600 STEERING GEAR REPLACED. THEY COULDNT TELL ME WHY THIS WOULD FAIL WITH LOW MILES UNLESS IT WAS A FAULTY PART. AFTER RESEARCHING CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT ACCIDENTS ON LOW MILE F150S OF THIS YEAR DUE TO STEERING FAILURE. WHEN I ASKED IF THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE IF I COULD NOT GET THIS PART RIGHT AWAY, ($1600) THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT UNHEARD OF FOR THE STEERING TO FAIL. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHY A RECALL FOR SAFETY HAS NOT BEEN DONE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND 45 TO 50 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED SKIDDING. THE BRAKES WERE NOT APPLIED WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE JUST STARTED SKIDDING ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMING APART. I CONTACTED FORD AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. I TOLD THEM THE THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT MY WIFE HAS BACK PROBLEMS AND THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SKIDDING IT JERKED US FORWARD. IF THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN VEHICLES BEHIND US OR IF WE WERE GOING THRU AN INTERSECTION THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THEY TOLD ME FORD WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE IN AND HAVE IT SERVICED. WE WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAPLES FORD (900 MAIN ST, WARSAW, MO) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEARBOX WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOT SURE OF NAME BUT SEND INFO FROM TRANSMISSION SO IT WILL START. LETS IGNITION KNOW VEHICLE IS IN PARK SO IT WILL START. MY DEALER TELLS ME FORD HAS OVER 4,000 ON BACK ORDER SO IT MAY BE A WHILE BEFORE MY TRUCK GETS FIXED. THEY HAVE ALREADY HAD IT FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH. I AM PAYING $500 A MONTH FOR SOMETHING I CAN NOT DRIVE DUE TO MANUFACTURER PART DEFECTIVE OR ON BACK ORDER.
I AM HAVING A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. WHEN I PLACE THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GO. THERE IS A DELAY UNTIL IT ENGAGES INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL. WHEN YOU DRIVE THERE IS A HARD SHIFT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. I DID CHECK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODES AND THE ISSUE IS THE " TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR". I AM AFRAID THAT WHILE I AM DRIVING IT WILL DISENGAGE FROM DRIVE AND PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER.

QUOTED APPROX $2000.00 TO REPLACE ELECTRIC STEERING.
