WHILE THE REAR DEFROSTER IS ACTIVATED THE GLASS SHATTERED DUE TO WHAT SEEMED TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL FOR THE DEFROSTER. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND RUNNING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
REAR GLASS CRACKED. NO PREVIOUS IMPACT.
POWERED SLIDE REAR WINDOW. SLIDING REAR WIDOW BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING TRUCK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A CITY STREET THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY DOWN SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR. BASED ON MY RESEARCH SINCE THE INCIDENT ON SATURDAY JANUARY 26TH, 2019, IT IS THE SAME AS DESCRIBED BY OTHERS AND I FEEL IT SHOULD BE PART OF THIS NHTSA INVESTIGATION. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO 360 AUTOMOTIVE LOCATED IN KENNEWICK, WA ON MONDAY THE 28TH AND UPON INSPECTION THEY DOCUMENTED THAT NO CODE SHOWED UP PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE AND NOTHING WAS DONE AT THIS TIME IN REGARDS TO THE INSPECTION. THERE WAS A DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE THAT I FEEL IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY.
FORD HAS A RECALL, WHICH IS 16N02, FOR MOLDED LEAD FRAME. I AM BEING TOLD MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THE VIN DOESN'T PULL UP, BUT I AM HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT IS COVERED BY THAT RECALL. I HAVE CONFIRMED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT AT THE FACTORY AND DURING THE TIME PERIOD COVERED BY THE RECALL. HOW DO I GET MY VEHICLE COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL? I HAVE CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT NHTSA.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND AS I WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE LOW FLUID INDICATOR CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I OPENED THE HOOD AND FOUND MY RESERVOIR WAS NEARLY EMPTY BUT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF LEAKAGE AROUND THE RESERVOIR. I GOT UNDER THE VEHICLE AND COULD NIGHT SEE SIGNS OF LEAKAGE ON BRAKE LINE OR ANY OF THE CALIPERS.
NO AIR COOL/HEAT BLOWS OUT ....3RD F-150 HAS DONE THIS SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG
I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY DURING THE DAY WHEN PAVEMENT WAS DRY. SUN WAS SHINING BUT OUTDOOR TEMPS WERE ABOUT 30 DEGREES. WHILE GOING 70 MPH, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DROPPED INTO 1ST GEAR. THE TRUCK JERKED FOR A SECOND THEN SEEMED TO GO INTO NEUTRAL. I HAD NO POWER TO THE WHEELS SO I COASTED OFF THE FREEWAY TO A SAFE LOCATION. MY TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED. I PROCEEDED TO CALL FOR A TOW TO MY USUAL SERVICE STATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TESTING THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, HE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT ENGAGING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
01/18/2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:45 PM EST, MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING ON NB ROUTE 301 IN THE CROFTON, MARYLAND AREA. DUE TO THE RECENT SNOW AND COLD TEMPERATURES WE ARE EXPERIENCING HERE IN THE EASTERN PORTION OF THE UNITED STATES, WE HAD THE REAR DEFROSTER ACTIVATED IN OUR 2012 FORD F-150 XLT PICK UP TRUCK. WHILE ACTIVELY DRIVING THE VEHICLE, BOTH MY WIFE AND I HEARD AN EXTREMELY LOUD "POP" SOUND WHILE RIDING INSIDE OF THE CABIN OF THE TRUCK. I PROCEEDED TO LOOK IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEE IF I COULD DETERMINE WHERE THE NOISE ORIGINATED FROM AND THAT'S WHEN I OBSERVED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE GLASS WAS SHATTERED. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, I DID NOT OBSERVE ANY OTHER OBVIOUS DAMAGE AND WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE WINDOW SUDDENLY CRACKED WITHOUT AN OBVIOUS CAUSE. AT THIS POINT I WAS QUITE PERPLEXED. I SUBSEQUENTLY TURNED TO GOOGLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIND A SOLUTION AND THAT'S WHEN I FIGURED OUT WHAT HAD OCCURRED. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THROUGH VARIOUS FORUMS AND ONLINE SITES THAT MULTIPLE OTHER FORD F-150 OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE WITH THE SAME EXACT CIRCUMSTANCES IN PLACE (REAR DEFROSTER ACTIVATED, LOUD "POP" SOUND, OBSERVED A BROKEN REAR WINDOW). THE ARTICLES GO ON TO PROVIDE NIGHTMARISH EXCHANGES BETWEEN FORD F-150 OWNERS AND FORD DEALERSHIPS WHERE THEY ARE FORCED TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE REPAIRS DUE TO WARRANTIES BEING EXPIRED. BASED ON THE AGE OF THE TRUCK AS WELL AS IT'S MILEAGE, I TOO AM OUT OF WARRANTY. I DO NOT BELIEVE FORD IS RECOGNIZING OR HANDLING THESE ISSUES PROPERLY. THIS APPEARS TO STRICTLY BE A DESIGN DEFECT AND NO FAULT OR NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE OWNER/OPERATOR. MY SAFETY CONCERNS ARE DECREASED VISIBILITY AND SHARP TEMPERED GLASS SHARDS INSIDE OF THE CABIN. I HAVE SUBMITTED AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY DEDUCTIBLE. I AM LOOKING TO THE NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE IN LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HEARD AN UNFAMILIAR NOISE AS I STARTED TO SLOW DOWN I HEARD A LOUD POP AND IT FELT AS IF THE WHEELS LOCKED UP. AFTER ALMOST WRECKING I GOT OUT TO FIND THAT THE RING AND PINION WAS DAMAGED. *TR
THESE TRUCKS HAVE NOW HAD 3 DIFFERENT TSB'S ON THEM FOR CAM PHASERS AND THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHING. WHEN IS THERE GOING TO BE A RECALL? TSB'S I AM REFERRING TO ARE: TSB 16-0027, TSB 15-0131, AND TSB 14-0194. THIS IS COMPLETELY OUT OF HAND. THE FIX DOES ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE IMPROVED PARTS, BUT THESE VEHICLES HAVE FAILED AND FORD IS EITHER REPLACING THE ENGINE OR ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK IN THE TSB. IF A CUSTOMER IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY MUST PAY FOR THE WORK. THIS IS NOT WHAT FORD IS SUPPOSE TO BE ABOUT AND IS A DISSERVICE TO THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMER BASE. I HAVE A 2012 F-150 3.5L ECOBOOST AND I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN UNLESS THEY ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. IT IS A SIMILAR ISSUE TO THE 3V 5.4L WITH PHASERS AND THE TIMING CHAIN, WHICH KILLED MY 2004 F-150, SO I HAVE BEEN EFFECTED BY THESE ISSUES TWICE NOW, DIRECTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED, THE RPMS SEIZED, AND THE REAR WHEELS SLID. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND WAITED. UPON BEING RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE PERFORMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO L.B. SMITH FORD LINCOLN (1100 MARKET ST, LEMOYNE, PA 17043, (717) 761-6700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A VALVE AND SOLENOID BODY NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,995. *TT
INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH DRIVING DOWNSHIFTS AND HARD UPSHIFTS. SOMETIMES THE F150 SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO THIRD UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION AND WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 3RD GEAR. WRENCH LIGHT ERROR COMES ON, AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO ZERO AND MILEAGE COUNTER ALL SHOW DASHES. PULLING OVER AND SHUTTING OFF THE TRUCK WORKS TO CLEAR THE WRENCH ICON AND REGAIN SPEED AND MILEAGE READING BUT THE SHIFTING ISSUES MAY OR MAY NOT COMR BACK IMMEDIATELY. DOWNSHIFT TO 5TH WHILE IN MOTION AND HAD IT DOWNSHIFT FROM 6TH HEAR TO 1ST ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHICH WAS SCARY. WITH THIS ISSUE IT SCARES ME TO DRIVE DUE TO THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON AT THE TIME IT DOWNSHIFTED TO 1SR GEAR. IF I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT, WOULD I HAVE HAD NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENTS FOR ME AND MY KIDS?
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN CAUSING THE TIRE TO LOCK UP PUTTING ME INTO A SKID ON THE HIGHWAY PULLED OVER RESTARTED VEHICLE THEN WAS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RETURNED TO NORMAL THEN HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY!
THERE IS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16N02 WITH SAFETY RECALL 16S-19 ON 2012 FORD F-150 FOR A INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHERE A WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER QUIT WORKING AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE GOES INTO A LIMP MODE, THERE IS ALSO INSTANCES WHERE THE VEHICLE WILL SHIFT BACK INTO 1ST GEAR ON ITS OWN WHICH IS WHAT MY 2012 F-150 IS DOING AND FORD IS DENYING THAT MY VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT STATES EXACTLY WHAT MY TRUCK IS DOING.
TURBOS. WHILE IN MOTION WITH ACCELERATION THE TURBO CHIRPS LIKE A BIRD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST USING AN OBD DIAGNOSTIC TOOL; HOWEVER, NO FAULT CODES WERE LOCATED. IMPERIAL FORD (LOCATED AT 8 UXBRIDGE RD, MENDON, MA 01756, (888) 814-8373) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
FRAME LEAD RECALL WHICH ALREADY HAS A RECALL BUT FORD IS SAYING MINE IS NOT COVERED. TRUCK SLAMMED INTO 1ST FROM FIFTH WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD. RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN FIRST. IT THEN SLAMMED INTO 3RD AND IS NOW STUCK IN 3RD. THE RECALL STATES THAT MY TRUCK IS COVERED BUT WHEN I RUN MY VIN IT DOES NOT SHOW UP. FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THE SAFETY RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH HEADING TO TOWN ON A MAIN ACCESS ROAD. I LOST ALL POWER, ACCLERATION, BUT COULD STILL STEER TO A STOP. NOT THE BATTERY IT READS 12.3 AND HAVE POWER TO MY MAIN FUSE BOXES, DOME LIGHTS, BUT NOTHING ON THE DASH AND WILL NOT START. I HOOKED UP AN OBDM AND IT ONLY SHOWS CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE WHICH I HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE PLUGS COIL PACKS AND ALSO STILL HAS NOT YET FIXED THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO FIFTH GEAR. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN TIMES WITHIN TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT NO FAILURE CODE WAS LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOE MACHENS FORD (1911 W WORLEY STREET, COLUMBIA, MO 65203), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THIS TRUCK IS SPONTANEOUSLY SHIFTING DOWN TO 1ST GEAR. IT IS ALSO GETTING STUCK IN DIFFERENT GEARS AND NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY, FORD SUPPOSEDLY HAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 150,000 MILES FOR THE LEAD FRAME, HOWEVER I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO HONOR THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE AND THE SAME THING. NOT ONLY WHEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS DOES THE TRANSMISSION MESS UP BUT SO DOES THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, TO THE POINT WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON.
REAR PASSAGER DOOR AJAR COME ON WHEN OFF CAUSING INTRERAL LIGHT TO STAY ON .THE TIMER CAN BE TURNED OFF AND STILL STAY ON PASS 30 SEC LONGEST TIME STORTEST 10 SEC.
I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR AND A BLUE WRENCH COME ON THE DASHBOARD WHILE GOING 65 DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THIS OF COURSE WAS NOT SAFE AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE AND STOP IT. SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND ABLE TO FINISH MY DRIVE. AFTER THIS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES, I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY KNOWN ISSUES. LOOKING AT MY VIN THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT. SO I TOOK TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY REPALCED THE OSS AND LEAD WIRES TO THE TRANSMISSION.
TRANSMISSION REVS HIGH EVEN AFTER ACCELERATION HAS STOPPED. BUCKLING, ROUGH DOWNSHIFTING. OCCURS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. EVEN WHEN NOT ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE (EVEN WHEN GOING AT A STEADY PACE). PROBLEM SEEMS ANALOGOUS TO 16S19 RECALL, BUT THAT SUPPOSEDLY DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. 6R80 TRANSMISSION.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ERRATICALLY, JUMPING FROM LOWER TO HIGHER GEARS. WHILE UP TO SPEED, IMMEDIATELY SHIFTS TO 1ST CAUSING REDLINING OF RPMS. SPEEDOMETER JUMPS ERRATICALLY. HAPPENED INITIALLY WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. CAUSED LOSS OF POWER AND FEELING OF MISFIRING, THEN SUDDEN SURGE FORWARD. AFTER GETTING UP TO APPROX. 40 MPH, TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TO 1ST AND STAYS THERE. COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A CRASH IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I GOT IN MY TRUCK ABOUT 7:40PM TO LEAVE FOR AN APPOINTMENT LAST NIGHT. I WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND STARTED IT TO WARM IT UP (OUTSIDE TEMP WAS 29 DEGREES F). I TUNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER AND 2 MINUTES LATER I HEARD A LOUD POP (SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT) FROM THE BACK OF MY TRUCK. I LOOKED IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND SAW THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF MY REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. THERE WAS NOTHING BEHIND MY VEHICLE EXCEPT MY CLOSED GARAGE AND NOTHING STRUCK THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE REAR DEFROSTER HEATING THE COLD GLASS TOO RAPIDLY CAUSING IT TO EXPAND AND SHATTER. THIS GLASS SHOULD BE TEMPERED AND NOT SHATTER LIKE THIS. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVELED THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER FORD F150 OWNERS OVER THE LAST 8 YEARS. I'M GRATEFUL I WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT FAR FROM HOME OR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ALSO GRATEFUL MY KIDS WEREN'T IN THE BACK SEAT AND THE GLASS DID NOT GO FLYING AS IN OTHER REPORTS I'VE SEEN AND READ. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS FAULTY REAR GLASS/WINDOW DEFROSTER SYSTEM. THIS COST ME $500 OUT OF POCKET TO COVER MY INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING AT THE TIME. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS NEED TO BE FILED BEFORE FORD CAN BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM?
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at slow speeds, the brake pedal was applied but, was slow to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed about the extended warranty. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
TIMING CHAIR RATTLE AND ENGINE MISFIRES DUE TO STRETCH IN TIMING CHAIN. ENGINE GOES IN LUMP MODE AND LOOSES POWER.
I BOUGHT IT WITH @ 10,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT [XXX] WITH IT FROM DAY ONE. FIRST OFF I PUT TWO NEW FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS ALL THE WAY AROUND AND BOTH IDLER PULLEYS WERE SQUEALING SO I REPLACED THEM . THEN AT @ 19,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH CVJ HALF SHAFTS . NOW AT 45,000 MILES THEY ARE BOTH SHOT AGAIN THE CVJ HALF SHAFTS ARE . ON THE FIRST OF JANUARY THIS YEAR I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING GOOD SUDDENLY IT BEGAN TO CUT OUT AND THE POWER FELL OFF ON ITS FACE. I PURCHASED AN OBD11 CODE READER TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. IT TELLS ME THAT RANDOM MISFIRE DETECTED AND THAT CYLINDERS 5 6 7 8 ARE MISFIRING . LET ME JUST SAY THAT 4 MONTHS LATER AFTER GOING THRU EVERYTHING FROM THE PLUGS WIRES INJECTORS AND REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLY IT IS STILL NOT RUNNING AND I'M AT MY END OF TRYING TO GET THE PEICE OF $*** RUNNING. THERE IS NO WAY IN [XXX] AT 45,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THAT I SHOULD BE HAVING ALL THE [XXX] WITH THE VEHICLE. I LIVE IN NEW MEXICO AND WE DO HAVE A LEMON LAW HERE. I AM BEYOND THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT SURE THAT THIS TRUCK IS A [XXX] LEMON. ALSO HAPPENS TO 3RD AND 5TH. OTHER 2012'S HAVE LEAD FRAME ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT WHICH TAKES CARE OF FAULTY OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR, MY RECALL OF RE-PROGRAMMING HAS ALL THE SYMPTOMS OF THE LEAD FRAME RECALL BUT IS JUST OUTSIDE THE MANUFACTURE DATE AND NOT INCLUDED

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD ABNORMAL BANGING NOISE AND THE GEAR SHIFTED FROM FIFTH TO FIRST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR TIRES SEIZED AND THE SPEED DECREASED TO ALMOST 0 MPH. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE GEAR BECAME STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. FIELDHOUSE FORD (1400 S HALLOCK ST, DE MOTTE, IN 46310) STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR THEM TO MAKE A DIAGNOSIS; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
MY VEHICLE HAS CODE P0722 FOR THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR. THE PROBLEM DESCRIPTION MATCHES SAFETY RECALL 16S19 BUT MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW UP FOR THIS RECALL. IT APPEARS THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED.
MY POWER STEERING HAS COMPLETELY FAILED, THERE ARE NOT ANY WARNING INDICATORS ON ITS JUST OUT. IT STARTED AROUD 12/25/18 IT WOULD STICK DURING A TURN I WOULD HAVE TO USE FORCE TO STRAIGHTED THE WHEEL. SOMEDAYS IT WOULD WORK JUST FINE. TRANSMISSION WAS ERRATIC IN GEAR SELECTION WITH CORRESPONDING TACHOMETER AND SPEDOMETER OSCILLATIONS.HAD SIX OCCURENCES WITH VARIOUS DEGREES OF SEVERITY .CALLED FORD HELP LINE .ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS " UNSAFE " TO DRIVE . GOT THE TRUCK INTO THE FORD DEALER AND HADF IT CODED. TRUCK WAS SHOWING CODES FOR DEFECTIVE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR. THE " LEAD FRAME " HAD TO BE REPLACED AT " MY EXPENSE ". NO REPROGRAMMING WAS DONE BECAUSE THERE WAS " NO RECALL " AT THAT TIME . THE ROOT CAUSE WAS REPAIRED BUT THERE WAS STILL THE POSSIBILITY OF A VIOLENT DOWN SHIFT EVENT . I HAVE SINCE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A EXPANDED RECALL TO REPROGRAM AND PREVENT THE DRAMATIC AND VIOLENT DOWNSHIFT ISSUE. I AM GOING TO GET THE TRUCK IN ASAP TO GET THIS DONE . THE ORIGINAL RECALL LANGUAGE STATED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE DOWNSHIFT ISSUES AND TESTED POSITIVE FOR DEFECTIVE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR THAT FORD WOULD " REPLACE THE LEAD FRAME AND REPROGRAM " FREE OF CHARGE AND ALSO WARRANTEE THE COMPONENTS FOR I THINK 150,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN APRIL OR MAY. WHEN MY TRUCK IS STATIONARY AND TURNED OFF WITH THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION, MY DASH LIGHTS DO NOT SHUT OFF. I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE, AT NIGHT, MY LIGHTS STAY ON FOR ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS AND THEN SHUT OFF. THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THIS, I GOT HOME FOR THE NIGHT, PUT MY TRUCK IN PARK, SHUT IT OFF, AND TOOK OUT THE KEYS. I USED MY REMOTE TO LOCK THE TRUCK. GOT IN IT THE NEXT DAY AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. I HAD TO PUT IT ON THE BATTERY CHARGER FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND FINALLY GOT IT STARTED BUT I NOTICED WHILE CHARGING IT (WITH THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION) THAT MY DASH LIGHTS WERE STILL ON. ITS ALMOST LIKE MY TRUCK DOES NOT KNOW THAT IT IS IN PARK AND IT THINKS IT IS STILL IN GEAR WHICH KEEPS MY DASH LIGHTS ON. A FEW DAYS BEFORE I STARTED EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE, MY REMOTE STARTER WOULD NOT WORK ALL OF THE TIME. IT WAS VERY HIT OR MISS. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS.

RIGHT REAR SLIDER WINDOW EXPLODED AND SHATTERED. DEFROSTER MAY HAVE BEEN ON. VEHICLE RUNNING ABOUT 5 TO TEN MINUTES. THIS HAS BEEN A ISSUE WITH F 150'S SINCE 2010. ALSO THE WATER PUMP WENT OUT WITH 29003 MILES. NOW THE TRUCK HAS ABOUT 30100 MILES ACCUMULATED. DRIVING SLOWLY ON A COUNTRY PAVED ROAD. FORDS CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE REFUSED TO REPAIR AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A ON GOING FACTORY FAULT. MY SONS F150 HAD THE SAME ISSUE.
THE CAR STARTED WITH A HARD SHIFT FROM 3-4 GEAR. NOW (IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE) ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN ACCELERATING, IT WILL DROP FROM 4/5 GEAR TO 1 RANDOMLY.
THIS IS AN UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REPORT: 11129849. FOLLOWING THE INITIAL SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST GEAR THE TRUCK WAS EVALUATED BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND, HOWEVER OVER THE NEXT 2 MONTHS THE TRUCK BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE FREQUENT SHIFTING ERRORS. THE DASH GAUGES WOULD QUIT OR BLANK OUT AND THE TRUCK WOULD BECOME STUCK IN A SINGLE GEAR, MOST OFTEN 3RD GEAR. THE FREQUENCY CONTINUED TO INCREASE UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, OBD-II CODES WERE P0720, P0722. A PREVIOUS FORD BULLETIN DESCRIBED THE EXACT SYMPTOMS IN DETAIL HOWEVER FORD REPORTED MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE REPAIR BULLETIN. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH MY LOCAL TECHNICIAN WE ELECTED TO PROCEED WITH THE REPAIR BULLETIN EVEN THOUGH I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS BULLETIN REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME. THIS HAS COMPLETELY RESOLVED THE ISSUE.
WHILE IN MOTION MY TRUCK HAS SLAMMED INTO FIRST GEAR WHILE AT DANGEROUS SPEEDS. IN ADDITION, I HAVE HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE TRUCK HAS STARTED IN A HIGH GEAR AND WOULD NOT EXIT 5TH GEAR. AT THE SAME TIME THE SPEEDOMETER DIDN'T WORK AND THE ODOMETER DISPLAYED ALL DASHES (I HAVE PICTURES OF THIS). MY RESEARCH INDICATES THAT BOTH ISSUES ARE DUE TO A DOCUMENTED FAILURE IN THE MOLDED LEADFRAME (PART OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE FIRST ISSUE APPEARS TO EXACTLY MATCH RECALL "16N02". THE SECOND ISSUE EXACTLY MATCHES TSB 13-6-8. THE FIX FOR BOTH IS A REPLACEMENT OF THE MOLDED LEADFRAME. FORD IS SAYING THAT MY TRUCK IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL (WITH NO EXPLANATION) EVEN THOUGH MY TRUCK IS EXHIBITING THE EXACT SYMPTOM SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL AND MATCHES BOTH THE DATE AND LOCATION OF MANUFACTURE AS WELL AS THE MODEL OF TRANSMISSION. I HAD THE DOWNSHIFTING ISSUE HAPPEN YEARS AGO AS WELL AND THAT WAS SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THE DEALER ONLY REPLACED THE OUTPUT SENSOR AND NOT THE ENTIRE MOLDED LEADFRAME AS SPECIFIED AND THE PROBLEM HAS REOCCURED NOW - THOUGH LUCKILY IT IS NOT HAPPENING OFTEN LIKE IT DID BEFORE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED FOUR INCIDENTS WHERE MY VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED FROM 6TH TO 1ST GEAR. TWICE ON A HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING 60-65, TWICE TRAVELING 50 ON A COUNTY ROAD. THIS CAUSED MY BACK TIRES TO SKID AND ONCE ON AN ICY ROAD WHERE I WENT INTO THE DITCH WITH NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THREE INCIDENTS WHERE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR WHEN LEAVING A TRAFFIC LIGHT.
I TURN ON REAR DEFOGGER HEARD OF LOUD BANG AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF AN IMPACT.
