THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE VEHICLE STICK IN THE LOCKED POSITION. I CANNOT GET IN OR OUT THE VEHICLE WHEN THE DOOR LOCKS STICK. THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE. I HAVE TO GET PLIERS TO PULL THE TAB UP TO GET IT UNLOCKED. IT HAPPENS IN BOTH STATIONARY AND WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED INDEPENDENT DECELERATION AND JERKED. IN ADDITION, THE LIMP HOME WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO J.C. LEWIS FORD (9505 ABERCORN ST, SAVANNAH, GA), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPEED SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND THE LEAD FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND DID NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,200.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE TRUCK LURCHES FORWARD, REAR TIRES MAKE A SQUEALING SOUND FROM SKIDDING. IT WAS HARD TO KEEP TRUCK IN CENTER LANE OF INTERSTATE AND IMMEDIATELY HAD TO MAKE MY WAY TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. ONCE I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES IT ACTED LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. I HAVE READ THE REPORTS OF THE INTERCOOLER BEING MESSED UP AND SEVERAL YEARS AGO I HAD TO REPLACE THAT PART DUE TO OIL AND WATER ENTERING IT BUT FORD SAYS IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO A PART NOT BEING COVERED. I HAVE HAD COILS REPLACED, SPARK PLUGS REPLACED, AND NOW I'M HAVING TO GO THRU THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN. ITS DANGEROUS AND FRUSTRATING. I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN A COUPLE MORE TIMES BUT NOT TO THAT EXTENT. THE GAUGES WILL PEG ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT THEN GO TO ZERO AND AIRBAG LIGHT WILL COME ON. TRUCK RESETS TO NORMAL WHEN TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN MOST OF THE SUMMER. BUT THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED A FEW WEEKS AGO. REPAIR SHOP CAN'T REPLICATE IT AND THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC TEST DOESN'T FIND IT EITHER.
RECALL ON 2011-2012 F150 LEAD FRAM HARNESS FAILURE MY TRUCK FALLS INTO THE REQUIRED DATE BUT FORD SAYS MY VIN # ISN'T IN THERE DATA BASE UNDER THE RECALL
2012 F150 DOWN SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR GOING 55 ON THE FREEWAY TOWING A TRAILER. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2011 & 2012 F150. FORD SAYS MINE DOESN'T? ACCORDING TO A REPORT I HAVE MY TRUCK WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE MONTHS OF THE RECALL? SAFETY ISSUE!!!!! SCARY FORD NEEDS TO RECALL ALL 2011 & 2012 NOT PICK & CHOOSE SOME TRUCKS I PAYED $1,100 TO FIX LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS PROBLEM!!!! I WOULD LIKE TO GET REIMBURSED
THE POWER STEERING STOPPED PROVIDING POWER ASSIST CONSISTENTLY AND IT IS INTERMITTENT. THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS STICKY AND HARD TO TURN. THERE IS NO HYDRAULIC SYSTEM TO CHECK FLUIDS ON AND I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO SERVICEABLE COMPONENTS OF THIS STEERING SYSTEM. THIS VEHICLE HAS RELATIVITY LOW MILEAGE (>50K) AND DRIVEN ON PAVED ROADS. THIS WAS NOTICED WHILE DRIVING TAKING A TURN AND IS PRESENT ON HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING.
AUGUST 2018- WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST LIGHT ALERT APPEARED AND WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED, SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO STEER. DURING THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, THIS OCCURRED AGAIN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. AT TIMES, THE POWER STEERING WOULD WORK AND THE LIGHT WOULD DISAPPEAR. HOWEVER, I DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP - DIAGNOSIS CODE U2011 AND U3000. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED MOTOR INSIDE STEERING GEAR. TOTAL COST FOR PARTS AND LABOR WAS $2333.29. OCTOBER 2018 - WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH AND EXITING I LOST POWER STEERING - ASSIST ALERT LIGHT APPEARED. WAS ABLE TO HARD BREAK AT STOP SIGN, TURN OFF VEHICLE AND TURN BACK ON - POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN, NOVEMBER 2018 - THE POWER STEERING ALERT LIGHT APPEARED ON 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. ALL GOING DIFFERENT RATES OF SPEED. THE MOST DANGEROUS WAS HIGHWAY SPEEDS, EXITING HIGHWAY TO TURN RIGHT AT A STOP LIGHT AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE AND PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP - THEY HAD THE TRUCK FOR 10 DAYS; COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE. ADVISED TO REPLACE TIRE. PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES COST OVER $1000. TODAY, 11/20/2018 LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING LOCKED UP DURING A TURN. THE SYSTEM LOCKED FOR LESS THAN A SECOND, AND THEN FREED UP SO THAT I COULD FINISH THE TURN. LUCKILY THE STEERING DID NOT LOCK UP BEFORE OR AFTER THE TURN, SO THAT I COULD COMPLETE THE TURN AND GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY, I STAYED ON COUNTY ROADS TO REDUCE SPEED TO 30MPH AND SEE IF THE REDUCED SPEED HELPED. AFTER 30 MORE MINUTES OF DRIVING THE STEERING WAS COMPLETELY LOCKING UP WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT OR TURNING, AND SCREECHING VERY LOUDLY. THE "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" MESSAGE SHOWED UP, FOLLOWED BY "ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAULT" MESSAGE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC, WHERE THEY SAID THE WHOLE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, COSTING AROUND $2000. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE WORK DONE YET AND HOPE THAT THERE IS A RECALL WITH THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. IF THE STEERING WERE TO LOCK UP ANY SOONER THAN IT HAD, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN MAJOR INJURY OR DEATH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE WITH A TRAILER HITCHED TO THE REAR OF IT, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000. **TR CONSUMER STATED: I STARTED VEHICLE BACK UP LIGHT ON DASH CAME ON POWER STEERING WAS LOOSE. I PARKED THE TRUCK, THIS WAS SATURDAY MORNING, NO SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS OPEN. SUNDAY EVENING, I STARTED VEHICLE UP, POWER STEERING WAS WORKING. UPDATED 10/19/18*JB
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY TRANSMISSION SLAMMED INTO FIRST GEAR WITH BOTH CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHT STARTED FLASHING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. AFTER THIS, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT ABOVE 3RD GEAR. THE TRUCK WAS BROUGHT INTO IMLAY CITY FORD DEALERSHIP IN MICHIGAN WHERE THEY ASSESSED THE ISSUE TO BE THE LEAD FRAME WHICH UPON FURTHER RESEARCH SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION BULLETIN 16N02. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE INFORMED ME THAT MY BIN WAS NOT EFFECTED BY THIS RECALL AND FORCED ME TO PAY 200 DOLLARS TO ASSIST IN THE REPAIR OF THEIR KNOWN ISSUE. I HAVE RECEIVED WHIPLASH FROM THE SUDDEN STOP OF MY VEHICLE. MY WORRY IS THERE ARE OTHER VEHICLES OUT THERE NOT NOTIFIED BY THIS RECALL THAT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL TO COVER ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES AND HONOR THE FULL COST OF REPAIRS.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ERRATICALLY. FROM A STOP THE TRUCK WILL SOMETIMES SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 5TH AND THEN BACK TO 1ST AND GET STUCK IN 1ST. SOMETIMES WHILE IN 5TH OR 6TH GEAR THE TRUCK WILL JUST SHIFT INTO 1ST, CAUSING THE RPM'S TO SPIKE AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF AND RESTART THE TRUCK. THIS MORNING IT DID THE SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 5TH AND THEN BACK TO 1ST.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE TRUCK WILL RANDOMLY SHIFT GEARS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO JERK AND SLOW DOWN. MY TRUCK WILL SHIFT SPORADICALLY BETWEEN 1ST, 3RD, AND 5TH AND THEN GET STUCK IN 1ST GEAR AND REQUIRES ME TO RESET THE KEY TO GET IT TO SHIFT PROPERLY.
2012 F150: REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP IN OCT 2016 BASED ON RECALL AND ISSUES WITH PRESSING THE BRAKE DOWN WHEN STARTING UP. SAME ISSUE STARTED AGAIN IN JUNE 2018. BROUGHT IT BACK TO LICCARDI FORD AND THEY STATE THE ISSUE IS "BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM PUMP SENSOR AND PUMP RELAY" . THEY CHARGE ME $140 FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WHEN I PICK UP THE TRUCK FOR A SECOND OPINION, THE "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" WARNING LIGHT IS ON. I DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF.
TAKATA RECALL MY TRUCK KEEPS DOWNSHIFTING AND LOCKING UP MY BACK WHEELS ON THE HIGHWAY. I JUST ALMOST HAD A WRECK AND THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
AROUND THE BEGINNING OF JULY THIS YEAR AS I WAS DRIVING AROUND MY SPEEDOMETER AND DIGITAL GAUGES ON MY 2012 FORD F-150 QUIT WORKING AND THE TRUCK BEGAN SHIFTING VERY HARD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE, AND UPON DOING SO IT BEGAN NORMAL OPERATION. OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS IT DID THIS SAME THING APPROXIMATELY FOUR (4) MORE TIMES. THE LAST TIME WAS THE MOST SERIOUS AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 65MPH WHEN MY TRUCK SUDDENLY DROPPED INTO FIRST GEAR AND ALMOST FORCED ME OFF THE ROAD ALONG WITH MY TWO (2) YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS RIDING WITH ME. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND GUIDE THE TRUCK OFF THE ROADWAY. HOWEVER, THIS TIME UPON RESTART THE TRUCK, WHILE PARKED, WAS CONTINUOUSLY REVVING AT ABOUT 6,000RPM'S. UPON A SECOND RESTART IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, CAVALIER FORD CHESAPEAKE SQUARE, AND SPOKE WITH LINDSAY GIVENS WHO TOLD ME IT WOULD BE A "HOT MINUTE" BEFORE SOMEONE COULD LOOK AT MY TRUCK. I DROPPED IT OFF AFTER HOURS THAT NIGHT (07/20/18) WITH A WRITTEN DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEMS. I WAS LATER CONTACTED ON 07/24/18, BY PHIL CAUSEY, SAYING THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY TRUCK THE FOLLOWING DAY. I NEVER HEARD ANYMORE AND UPON CALLING THE DEALERSHIP ON 07/27/18, AND SPEAKING TO TANYA HOWARD, I WAS ADVISED MY TRUCK STILL HADN'T BEEN LOOKED AT AND PHIL WAS OFF UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEEK. ON 07/31/18 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM PHIL AND HE STATED THAT WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING MY TRUCK AROUND IT GOT STUCK IN FIRST GEAR ON THEM AS WELL, AND THEY LOCATED THE PROBLEM IN THE LEADFRAME OF MY TRANSMISSION. THE DIAGNOSTICS SHOWS MY TRUCK READ CODES P0722 AND P072. MY TIMING CHAIN ON MY F1 50 WAS STRETCHED AND I PAID OVER $8000 TO HAVE IT FIXED AND HERE IT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER AND IT IS STRETCHED AGAIN. WITH ALL OF THE SUPPOSEDLY NEW AND UPDATED PARTS FORD OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WHAT VEHICLES WE BUY BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY DON'T WANT US TO BUY THEIRS SINCE I DON'T WANT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM THE RIGHT WAY!
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 40 MPH ON CITY STREET THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR. HAD TO STOP ,TURN TRUCK COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTART TO GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY.
TRANSMISSION FRAME RAIL TROUBLE CODES INDICATE A FRAME RAIL PROBLEM THAT HAD A RECALL BUT THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TRANSMISSION SLIPS INTERMITTENTLY AND ALSO HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE ON OCCASION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S GEAR SHIFTED WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSED THE REAR TIRES TO SEIZE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (METRO FORD AUTO SALES, 1000 BARNES CROSSING RD, TUPELO, MS 38804, (662)-841-1000) WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000. *TT THE CONSUMER THE TRANSMISSION HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUTWITHOUT ANY WARNING. LIGHT CAME ON SAYING SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. I LIVE ON A COUNTRY ROAD SPEED LIMIT IS 55 MPH. I WAS LUCKY TO GET MY TRUCK BACK INTO MY LANE BEFORE A CAR COMING HEADED ON WAS UPON ME. I AM LUCKY I DID NOT HAVE A HEAD CRASH. HAD YRUCK SERVICED A COST OF $2034.64 TO FIX THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 40,614 MILES ON THE IT. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY SO MUCH. PLUS THE DEALERSHIP HAS DOES OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ONLY WARRANTY THIS FIX FOR TWO YEARS. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL WITH SO MANY VEHICLES WITH THIS ADVANCE TRAC.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLE'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DROPPED INTO A MUCH LOWER GEAR CAUSING A TIRE SKID AND LARGE INCREASE OF RPM. A "WRENCH" ICON APPEARED ON THE DASH. WHEN I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE I FOUND THAT AN RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
RADIO, CLOCK AND HEATER-AIR WOULD SHUT OFF. NEXT DAY, THE ENGINE WOULD START. ALL FUSES WERE CHECKED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. WHEN TURNING KEY ONTO "ON" POSITION THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD LIGHT UP WAS THE ODOMETER.
MY 2012 FORD F-150 IS HAVING SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES THAT ARE ADDRESSED IN FOR TSB'S AND SAFETY RECALLS. UPON CONTACTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER THAT MATCHED WITH THEIR CASES. MY VEHICLE FITS THE RECALL DESCRIPTIONS WITH MAKE, MODEL, YEAR, AND EVEN MANUFACTURING LOCATION AND HAS THE EXACT ISSUES THAT THESE RECALLS ARE ABOUT. THE FIRST RECALL IS FORD RECALL 16S19 : UNEXPECTED TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT THIS WILL CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFT MULTIPLE GEARS. WHEN IT SHIFTS DOWN IT ALSO CAUSES THE REAR TIRES ARE LOCK UP AND I HAVE LOST CONTROL MOMENTARILY TRYING TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS ALSO CAUSES WEAR AND TEAR ON THE DRIVETRAIN. SHIFTING THE MOTOR FROM 5TH GEAR TO 1ST IMMEDIATELY SENDS THE MOTOR INTO A DANGEROUS RPM RANGE CAUSING DAMAGE. THE SECOND RECALL IS FORD TSB 13-6-8: THIS CAUSES ME TO LOSE ALL INDICATION ON MY GAUGES EXCEPT FOR RPM' S. I LOSE INDICATION ON MY CURRENT SPEED RANDOMLY AND ALSO ON ALL OF MY CRITICAL ENGINE TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES. THIS ALSO LOCKS THE TRANSMISSION INTO 5TH GEAR, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SLOW DOWN PROPERLY AND ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR SLOW SPEED. THESE TWO ISSUES COMBINE MAKES THE VEHICLE A DANGER TO DRIVE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE ANYMORE TAKING THIS VEHICLE ANYWHERE AND CANNOT TRUST IT. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY BOTH LOCALLY AND AT ITS HEADQUARTERS. THEIR REPLY IS THAT THEY HAVE TO FIX IT. I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT THE NHTSA FOR FURTHER HELP FROM A FRIEND WHO ENCOUNTERED SIMILAR ISSUES WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS MY TRUCK WOULD SHIFT ERRATICALLY( GO FROM 1ST TO 5TH, 6TH TO 3RD ETC.). WHEN IT DOWN SHIFTS AT SPEEDS OF 55 AND ABOVE, THE BACK TIRES LOCK UP, THE SPEEDOMETER ZEROS OUT AND THE RPM GAUGE MOVES SPORADICALLY. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, (POWER TRAIN #16S19) BUT AFTER SPEAKING WITH FORD MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED ON THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE TO RUN AN ERRAND. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SWITCHED INTO REVERSE AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE MANUFACTURER INITIALLY PROMISED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A FORD DEALER TO GET AN ESTIMATE. MY 2012 FORD F150 XLT SUPERCREW ECOBOOST HAS ABOUT 85000 MILES AND ABRUPTLY WENT FROM ABOUT 30-40MPH TO ABOUT 0MPH A FEW TIMES NOW WHILE DRIVING. ONCE TIME WAS VERY SCARY ON A CONGESTED ROAD. AFTER THIS HAPPENED, ITS LIKE MY TRANSMISSION MISFIRES AND MISSES GEARS ALL OF THE TIME. THERE IS NOW A VACUUM NOISE ALSO COMING OUT IF THE ENGINE AND IT DOESN'T RUN RIGHT. I BROUGHT IT TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I PROBABLY WASN'T CHANGING THE OIL PROPERLY (I HAD CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 3000-5000 MILES REGULARLY.), BUT NOW THEY SAID I MESSED UP THE TIMING CHAIN AND PHASERS AND THEY HAD TO BE CHANGED FOR A PRICE OF ABOUT 4000 DOLLARS. I HAVE OWNED OTHER FORDS NOT ECOBOOSTS AND THEY ALL RAN FINE. I STARTED DOING SOME RESEARCH AND I AM SURE THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FLAW ON THE PART OF FORD. I ACTUALLY READ THAT THE NHTSA DID RESEARCH ON THIS TOPIC. THERE ARE TONS OF FORUMS THAT HAVE THE INFORMATION ON THEM AND BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND DO A RECALL OR FIX THE PROBLEM. I KNOW ITS A BIG PROBLEM. I DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR TO THE AMERICAN CONSUMER TO HAVE TO SHELL OUT THAT KIND OF MONEY ON A BAD DESIGN FLAW ON APART OF FORD THAT ALMOST GOT ME INTO AN ACCIDENT BAD ONE TIME AND WHEN MY KIDS AND I HAVE TO GO TO AN ERUPT STOP. I DON'T TOW ANYTHING AND DRIVE THE TRUCK LIKE A CAR. THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING.
MY TRUCK LOST POWER STEERING WHILE TURNING WITH TRAILER ON FARM ROAD. THE STEERING WAS VERY HARD, SO THAT, I ALMOST COLLIDED WITH BEE HIVES. AT FIRST, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SCREECHED, THE THEN I GOT A SERVICE MESSAGE " SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" . FINALLY, I GOT A MESSAGE OF " POWER STEERING FAULT". I SUSPECT THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY (EPAS).
AS WE DROVE 55 MPH ON STRAIGHT DRY HIGHWAY OUR VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR CAUSING REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE TRAFFIC BEHIND US. WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT INTO PARK FO COLLECT OURSELVES AND THEN PROCEEDED STRAIGHT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO DROP VEHICLE OFF. WITH RESEARCH ON THIS DEFECT WE FOUND FORD HAD A RECALL OUT FOR THIS SAME ISSUE (RECALL 16S19 WHICH WE NEVER RECEIVED) WE WERE ADVISED OUR VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL THEREFORE WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. WE WERE NOT GIVEN A REASON WHY EVEN THOUGH OUR F150 IS A 2012 AND WAS MANUFACTURED IN DEARBORN MI JULY 2012. (WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO GET $100 REFUND FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER IT WAS AFTER A LOT OF PHONE CALLS. NOT SURE IF IT CAME DIRECTLY FROM THEM OR MANUFACTURER AND STILL DOES NOT COVER OUT OF POCKET COST OR MONTHS OF TIME SPENT). AFTER WE PICKED UP OUR "REPAIRED"/PAID FOR VEHICLE A FEW WEEKS LATER WE EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECT. WE WERE TAKING TRASH TO THE LOCAL DUMP A MILE DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 30 MPH AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, MILEAGE METER ON DASHBOARD BLANKED OUT AND WRENCH APPEARED ON SCREEN. ON THE WAY INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DRIVING 55 MPH ON DRY PAVEMENT VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, MILEAGE METER ON DASHBOARD BLANKED OUT AND WRENCH APPEARED ON SCREEN. LOCAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE ON THEIR OWN, WE HAD TO WAIT OVER 9 DAYS FOR FORD MANUFACTURER TO GET BACK WITH THEM ON HOW TO FIX IT AND SEND PARTS. THEY REPLACED MAIN CONTROL/VALVE BODY IN TRANSMISSION, REPROGRAMMED TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) AND CLEARED SHIFT TABLES. AGAIN THEY DID NOT COVER ANY COSTS AND WE HAD TO PAY HEFTY BILL OUT OF POCKET WHEN THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE VEHICLE IS A 2012 F150 4X4 SUPER CREW LARIAT ECO BOOST WITH ONLY 41,000 MILES ON IT.
THE FORD F150 ECOBOOST WOULD HAVE THE TACHOMETER AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS GO DEAD, AND THE DASH WOULD DISPLAY A "WRENCH" SYMBOL. A TIMES THE TRUCK WOULD DOWNSHIFT ON ITS OWN TO FIRST GEAR. THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED FROM 6TH TO 1ST GEAR WHEN I WAS TRAVELING OVER 60 MPH, ENDANGERING MY SAFETY AND THAT OF OTHER DRIVERS.
THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE SPEED SENSING AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GEARS OR IS ERRATIC AND JUMPS BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN GEARS. WORST CASE I WAS APPROXIMATELY DOING 40 MPH, SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 0 THE TRUCK SHIFTED FROM 4TH GEAR TO 1ST GEAR. USUALLY THE ERRATIC BEHAVIOR IS AT LOWER SPEED AND LOWER GEARS, BUT IS GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE.
MY TRUCK WAS 10,000 MILES OUT OF ITS EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN ON COLD START UP THE ENGINE WOULD RATTLE ON STARTUP. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER IN MY AREA AND WAS TOLD THE TIMING CHAIN AND CAM PHASERS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER HAD MY TRUCK FOR 2 MONTHS. WITH PARTS ON BACK ORDER. WITH THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE I HAD DONE THE TOTAL BILL WAS 3,085.51. THE TRUCK WAS REGULARLY SERVICED EVERY 5,000 MILES BY A FORD DEALER. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT LACK OF MAINTENANCE IT WAS AN ENGINEERING FLAW FROM THE MANUFACTURER. DUE TO THIS I FEEL LIKE I SHOULDN'T BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE.
YESTERDAY AS I WAS MAKING A TURN THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION, MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND THE ALERT "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" POPPED UP ON MY DASH. I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN, AND A CAR GOING NEARLY 55 MPH SWERVED AROUND ME AND MISSED T-BONING ME BY A FEW FEET. INITIALLY, I WAS JUST CONCERNED. BUT AFTER GOING TO THE MECHANIC AND FINDING THAT MY STEERING CONTROL MODULE IS FAULTY (THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 62,000 MILES ON IT), AND THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE IN OTHER FORD VEHICLES AND IN THE F150 AS WELL, I BECAME FURIOUS THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL WHEN I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED YESTERDAY. IF FORD DOES NOT MAKE THIS RIGHT, I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE, WILL ENCOURAGE ALL MY FRIENDS/FAMILY TO NEVER PURCHASE A FORD VEHICLE, AND WILL USE MY CONSIDERABLE BUSINESS AND PERSONAL NETWORK TO ENSURE THAT THEY ALL KNOW THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT A VERY SIGNIFICANT ISSUE AND IS REFUSING TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR AN ISSUE THAT COULD LEAD TO THE DEATH OF ITS CUSTOMERS. I CALLED THE MINIONS AT THE 1-800 NUMBER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HELP ME AND THAT FORD HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND I WAS ON MY OWN. I'LL PAY THE $1500 + LABOR NOW. BUT I'LL BE BACK WITH MY ATTORNEY IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT ADDRESSED TO MY SATISFACTION.

THE MOST SERIOUS PROBLEM WOULD BE A WATEEEMERSION LIKE THE RECENT AMPHIBIOUS WW2 'DUCK' WHERE 17 SOULS WERE LOST. PLEASE STEP UP AND REQUIRE FORD TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST THING THAT CAME OUT OF FORDS MOUTH WAS ' OH YEAH WE'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SLIDING GLASS ROOFS. FORD HAS SERVICED MY VEHICLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2012 AND NEVER MENTIONED THIS PROBLEM.

WE HAVE A FORD F-150 AND IT IS LOSING POWER AS YOU TRAVEL DOWN THE ROAD. WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT. THE TECHNICIAN CALLED WOODHOUSE FORD AT 402-574-2759 (LOCATED AT 3633 N 72ND ST, OMAHA, NE 68134), BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.
DESPITE NOT BEING INCLUDED IN THE RECENT RECALL, MY 2012 F-150 SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED WHILE CRUISING AT 45-50MPH, RESULTING IN A DANGEROUS SUDDEN SLOWDOWN AND LURCHING FORWARD ON BUSY CITY THOROUGHFARE. TWO DAYS LATER, A SUDDEN STOP RESULTED IN A TEMPORARY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. DEALER DIAGNOSTICS INDICATED THE LEADFRAME CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS THE SAME REPAIR COVERED UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE PRODUCTION THAT MY TRUCK WAS A PART OF. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH PRIOR, THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ERRATIC SHIFTING AT SLOW SPEEDS, BUT THE ISSUE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED AT THAT TIME. INSTEAD, A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND SLIP-YOKE LUBRICATION WERE RECOMMENDED.
IN TOW MODE WHILE GOING DOWN HILL AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHILE PULLING A 4800 LB CAMPER. I TAPPED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR. THE RPMS JUMPED UP AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR WITHOUT FEATHERING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS OCCURRED ONE OTHER TIME WHILE PULLING MY ALUMINUM BASS BOAT. ADVISED DPATRICK FORD OF THE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL. THE BUILD DATE OF JUNE 2012 FALLS IN THE TIME FRAME OF THE RECALL. THIS VEHICLE HAS 41,100 MILES ON IT.
WHILE TRAVELING THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED RENDERING THE TRUCK NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. DEALER (RODEO FORD) REPLACED ENTIRE STEERING RACK AND WITHIN 500 MILES IT FAILED AGAIN. THIS TIME WHILST TOWING A 5600 POUND TRAILER DOWN A 6% GRADE IN ARIZONA. NEARLY KILLED MY ENTIRE FAMILY.
THE VEHICLES STEERING HAS MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND NOW MY TWO FRONT TIRES ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF ALIGNMENT. BOTH ARE POINTING OUTWARDS. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STEER CORRECTLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL HAS TURNED OFF OF CENTER. I CAN NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT GOING DOWN THE ROAD. I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE A HORRIFIC NOISE AND STARTED ALL THIS WACKY DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 F150 ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH I EXPERIENCED UNEXPECTED DOWNSHIFTING FROM 6TH GEAR TO A LOW GEAR. THE REAR TIRES SKIDDED AND THE REAR STARTED TO COME AROUND. DID ALL I COULD TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. DANGEROUS AND SCARY. SUBSEQUENTLY, I CHECK AND LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL. WENT TO FORD AND THE VIN WAS PUT INTO THE COMPUTER AND I WAS INFORMED MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. HAD VEHICLE REPAIRED COST$1249.00. THE PROBLEM THE DEALER DIAGNOSED WAS IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL NOTICE ISSUE. FIX WAS TO REMOVE AND REPLACE LEAD FRAME. INSTALLING MAIN CONTROL ASSEMBLY AND TRANSMISSION PAN. NEW FLUID AND CODES CLEARED. WHAT IS ALSO FRIGHTENING IS ACCORDING TO NTHSA WEB SITE THIS PROBLEM IS SPECIFIC 2011 -2012 AND 2013 F150'S. I AM UNDER 150K IN MILEAGE AND WELL WITHIN 10 YEARS FROM DATE OF WARRANTY. THERE ARE MANY MORE F150S THAT DID NOT COME UNDER THE RECALL MINE BEING ONE OF THEM. NHTSA NOTES THAT ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM IN RECALLED VEHICLES HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. WHAT CAN I DO? I HAVE COMPLAINED TO FORD AND HAVE AN OPEN CASE PENDING REVIEW. HOW CAN FORD JUSTIFY SOME VEHICLES ARE SUBJECT TO THE RECALL AND OTHERS ARE NOT? ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE THE IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS AND REMEDY.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING, AND THE CONTROL PANEL/GAUGES STOP WORKING. IF I STOP, PUT IT IN PARK, AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE; IT GOES BACK TO "NORMAL" WHEN I START IT BACK UP. THE SECOND ISSUE THAT HAS HAPPENED IS WHEN I'M COMING FROM A STOP AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS, EVEN WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY DOWN. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN TURNING ON TO ANOTHER STREET WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED COLLISIONS BECAUSE I'M SITTING HALFWAY IN THE ONCOMING LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
VERY LITTLE TO NO BRAKES AT ALL. OF COURSE THE SAME ISSUE EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING. VACUUM PUMP/ BRAKE BOOSTER! DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND HOW THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THIS ISSUE YET IS BEYOND ME.
