STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND ONCE IT TURNED GREEN AND PRESSES ACCELERATOR IT WOULD JUST REV UP, NOT MOVING; AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS, IT JERKED A FEW TIMES AND STARTED TO MOVE, BUT STILL JERKY, AND THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWING 0, NOT MOVING; I KEPT GOING ABOUT 30 YARDS AND IT CAME BACK TO NORMAL.
MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING ALL OF THE ISSUES AS STATED IN SAFETY RECALL 16S19 (UNINTENDED DOWNSHIFT RESULTING IN LOCKING UP OF REAR TIRES AS WELL AS INTERMITTENT LIMP MODE AND TACHOMETER SPIKES AND DROPS WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET). I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE 'BUILD DATE' BY A TOTAL OF 9 DAYS AND THEY REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE PER THE SAFETY RECALL.
VEHICLE STALLED, IF ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED IT WOULD JUST REV UP AS IF IN NEUTRAL, SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 0 AND WOULD NOT MOVE; HAD TO PARK ON SIDE OF ROAD AND TURN OFF/ON VEHICLE.
TRUCK LOST POWER WHILE STARTING FROM A STOP LIGHT; ENGINE HESITATED AND REGAINED/LOST POWER ABOUT 3 TIMES BEFORE GETTING BACK TO NORMAL. THIS WAS INSIDE THE CITY ON A STREET, NOT THE HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 25-30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SHATTERING NOISE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW INADVERTENTLY SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD APPROX 30 MPH WENT TO MAKE A TURN AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING LUCKILY NO OTHER CARS AROUMD. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 34786 MILES ON IT. CONTACTED FORD AND GOT NO WHERE COULD NOT EVEN TALK TO SOMEONE HIGHER UP THAN THE COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT. WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT REPAIR WOULD BE $ 1418.59 TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK. I HAVE SEEN WHERE NUMEROUS FORD VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PARTICULAR POWER STEERING.
ON 12/5/17, I WAS GETTING ON TO I-10 TO HEAD WEST TO LAKE CHARLES. ON THE RAMP, MY TRUCK WOULD NOT GET OUT OF FIRST GEAR SO I HAD TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, TURN, MY TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON. IT STARTED WORKING UNTIL I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 MPH, THEN MY RPM'S WENT UP, AND MY SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO. THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK AS WELL, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO COAST ON THE INTERSTATE HOPING THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO 1ST GEAR AGAIN. I CONTACTED TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS, AS WELL AS FORD MOTOR COMPANY, BUT THEY STATED THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY TRUCK. MY TRUCK WAS MADE AT THE KANSAS CITY PLANT AND WAS CREATED JANUARY 2102 WHICH FITS THE PLACE AND DATE OF THE RECALL. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AND FORD IS NOT HELPING AT ALL. IT WILL COST OVER $500 TO FIX A DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BY FORD. IT IS A 2012 F-150 TRUCK.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT CONNECTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN). TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED DUE TO POOR DESIGN. MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND DURING COLD START. CAM SENSOR IS TRIGGERING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
RIGHT REAR WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERS WITH A SOUND LIKE A RIFLE SHOT 10 MINUTES AFTER REAR DEFROST ELEMENTS WERE TURNED ON. NOTHING STRUCK GLASS. NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT. VEHICLE MOVING ONLY TEN MILES AN HOUR IN A PARKING LOT.

OCCASIONALLY WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP, TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY SHIFTS AND LOCKS INTO 5TH GEAR. 6 TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY (TRAVELING 55-70MPH), MY SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND TRUCK SHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR, LOCKING REAR TIRES AND ENGINE WOULD REACH MAX RPM. THERE WERE NO INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. STEVENS JERSEY CITY (740 NJ-440 JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY 07305) WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT SOMEONE ASSUMING RESPONSIBILITY FOR PAYMENT. THE FORD MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO EITHER IF THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,118.

DRIVING AT 45-50 MPH ON A CITY ROAD, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED FROM 6TH GEAR TO 1ST GEAR ABRUPTLY. TRANSMISSION WAS APPROXIMATELY 135-145 DEGREES AS DISPLAYED BY DASHBOARD DIGITAL DISPLAY.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP OR SHIFT TO FIRST ALMOST GOT HIT TWICE THEY FIXED IT BUT MY ENGINES RPMS GO HIGH WHEN TURNING IN TO A STREET AND FORD DEALERSHIP WON'T FIX IT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADDED AN AIR DEFLECTOR PER TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 13-08-01. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,251.
STARTED MY VEHICLE ON A COLD MORNING TURNED ON THE WINDOW DEFROST AND REAR DEFROST. CAME BACK TO IT A FEW MINUTES LATER AND THE BACK WINDOW WAS SMOKING AND THE GASKET HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT SHATTERED THE WINDOW AND BURNT AND MELTED THE GASKET. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE F150 WITH REAR DEFROST AND POWER SLIDING WINDOW IT EITHER BREAKS THE WINDOW OR CATCHES FIRE MINE DID NOT EVEN BLOW THE FUSE. HAVE SEEN MANY CASES OF THIS THRU F150 FORUMS AND FORD HAS NOT COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. IT IS ALSO A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX . MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY HAD I NOT CAUGHT IT IN TIME THIS WOULD HAVE DESTROYED MY TRUCK AND CAUGHT MY HOUSE ON FIRE TOO
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WHILE ACCELERATING THE TRUCK DIED. I HAD JUST ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NOT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED I GOT MY TRUCK TOWED HOME. AFTER RESEARCHING ALL NIGH, THE NEXT MORNING I PULLED FUSE #27 LOW AND BEHOLD IT WAS MELTED. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, I FELT VERY FORTUNATE THAT IT DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. YESTERDAY WAS OUR FIRST COLD MORNING OF THE SEASON. I HAD A DENTIST APPOINTMENT IN THE MORNING. DROVE TO THE APPOINTMENT. CAME OUT AND THE PASSENGER SIDE SECTION OF THE SLIDING, HEATED REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED AT THE TIME. IN LOOKING ONLINE IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON, UNADDRESSED ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL.

CHECK VIIN FOR RECALLS. "MY VIIN DOES NOT FALL INTO RECALL" PER FORD. LOCATED RECALL 16S19 WHICH DESCRIBES THE EXACT PROBLEM BUT MY VIIN DOES NOT FALL? DEALER STATES REPAIR COST BUT THEIR ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX. P/N AL32 7G276 D NO ASSETS AVAILABLE WITH NO ETA FOR DELIVERY. SUBMITTED CAS13486115 AWAITING RESOLUTION. 62K MILES OUTSIDE POWER TRAIN. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE CONDUCTED IN SEPT 17 10 POINT INSPECTION CONDUCT. AFTER DISCUSSIONS WITH SERVICE PROVIDER NO PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CAN DONE TO PREVENT A FUTURE FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (WALKER FORD, 17556 US HWY 19N, CLEARWATER, FL, 33764) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAD FRAME WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER. THERE WAS NO TIME FRAME FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS13485195. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALER AND AWAITED A RETURN PHONE CALL. THERE WAS NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,500.
P0720 TROUBLE CODE. SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK. AT HIGHWAY CRUISING SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION OCCASIONALLY DOWNSHIFTS TO 1ST GEAR.
SOMEONE STOPPED SHORT IN FRONT OF ME. I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT COULD NOT AVOID HITTING CAR. THE BRAKE INDICATOR ON FRONT CONTROL DISPLAY SAID MY BRAKES ARE OK. ONCE I CRASHED THE SEAT BELT ENGAGED BUT I STILL HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY! THERE WAS SOME HEAVY SMOKE THOUGH AROUND THE SEAT BELT AREA OR FROM PERHAPS THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS UNDER THE SEAT?
WHILE DRIVING AND ACCELERATING MY FORD F150 VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, TRANSMISSION DROPPED TO FIRST GEAR, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO REDUCE SPEED QUICKLY AND WHEELS TO LOCK UP. PULLED OFF THE ROAD. ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE ONE MORE TIME AND VEHICLE DID THE SAME ACTION, WHILE ACCELERATING AROUND 30-35 MPH VEHICLE DROPPED TO FIRST GEAR AND WHEELS LOCKED UP. PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF VEHICLE, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. PLACED VEHICLE IN MANUAL MODE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK F-150 TO ADVANTAGE FORD OF STUART. ADVANTAGE FORD SAID IT IS LEAD FRAME THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 2012 FORD F-150'S AND FOUND A RECALL FOR FORD F-150'S RECALL NUMBER 16S19. I SEARCHED MY VIN ON FORD'S WEBSITE AND CALLED CUSTOMER CARE, AND MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW ON THIS RECALL. THEN I CAME ACCROSS NHTSA NUMBER 16V248 WHICH COVERS FORD F150'S BUILT IN DEARBORN MICHIGAN BETWEEN FEBRUARY 11. 2011 AND SEPTEMBER 8, 2012. MY FORD F 150 WAS BUILT IN AUGUST OF 2012 ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER. MY VIN WAS OBVIOUSLY MISSED IN THIS SAFETY RECALL, AND I WOULD LIKE A RESOLUTION TO ADD MY VIN NUMBER TO THIS SATETY RECALL. I TALKED WITH FORD, AND THEY STARTED A CASE NUMBER CAS-13394098.

I HAVE A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED FORD F150 2012 LARIAT 4WD SUPER CREW 3.5L ECOBOOST, AND I AM HAVING METAL TAPPING NOISE IN THE TOP FRONT OF THE ENGINE ON COLD START UP !!! I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY STATED THERE WAS NO TROUBLE CODE SET ! AND SAID NO ISSUE PRESENT, MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 70,000 MILES AND I CANT GET FORD TO VERIFY ENGINE PROBLEM !

WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT PERFORMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TOWNE FORD, 1601 EL CAMINO REAL, REDWOOD CITY, CA 94063) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL, AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. CASE NUMBER: CAS-13431428 WAS PROVIDED. MY TRUCK WOULD LOSE POWER AT TIMES THEN WOULD NOT START. DEALER ADVISED THE FUSE TO THE FUEL RELAY PUMP WAS BURNED AND NEEDED TO BE BYPASSED TO A LARGER FUSE BECAUSE THE FUSE INSTALLED BY THE MANUFACTURE IS TOO SMALL. THIS REPAIR COST ME $411. DEALER ADVISED THIS WAS A DEFECT FROM MANUFACTURE AND WAS COMMON IN THE 2012 YEAR MODEL. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND LOCATED MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT VEHICLES LOSING POWER ON THE HIGHWAYS AND ALMOST INVOLVED IN COLLISIONS DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. I'M SURE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS AND ACCIDENTS THAT CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE DEFECT WHICH CAUSES FUEL DISRUPTION.
MY 6 MONTH PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK WHEN THE DASH READ "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SHE LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND WAS UN ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. TALKED TO FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID RACK IS FAULTY. THANKFULLY MY WIFE, NIECE AND UNBORN CHILD WHERE UN HARMED WHEN THE DEFECTIVE PIECE FAILED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. IF THEY WERE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS, SHE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE ON A CORNER.

AFTER STOPPING AT INTERSECTION TRANSMISSION REMAINS IN 5TH GEAR. WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT AND HAS NO ACCELERATION. PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD, TURN IGNITION KEY OFF. RESTART TRUCK AND TRANSMISSION WORKS AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND ASKED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. CASE NUMBER: CAS-13299658 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS. DESIGN FLAW OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ON THE F-150 ECOBOOST CAUSING MANIFOLD BOLTS TO SNAP/SHEER, WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE MANIFOLDS TO WARP. THIS IS CAUSING NOISE, AND POSSIBLY EXHAUST GASES TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. FORD IS OFFERING A FIX UNDER PROGRAM CODE: 17M05 FOR THE F450/F550, BUT IS EXCLUDING THE OTHER "F SERIES" TRUCKS WHICH SUFFER FROM THE SAME/SIMILAR ISSUE. THE ISSUE WAS NOTICED IMMEDIATELY AFTER AN ENGINE MISFIRE BEGAN OCCURRING (WHICH IS ALSO A KNOWN ISSUE). THE DEALERSHIP HAS QUOTED $1,400 TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLDS AND STUDS.
VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHIFTS UP AND DOWN. IT WILL SOMETIMES SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 6TH AND THEN THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GO SINCE IT IS IN HIGH GEAR. OTHER TIMES, IT WILL SHIFT FROM 6TH TO 3RD. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON EXPRESSWAY, IT SHIFTED TO 3RD AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO JERK. I RESEARCHED AND OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. TOOK TO FORD AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW LEAD RELAY WHICH WILL COST $600.
STEERING COLUMN SENSOR FAILED LEADING TO COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM. POWER STEERING FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE IN MOTION WHILE TURNING. A SEARCH OF INTERNET FORUMS CONFIRMS THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL.
ON 9/24/17 TRAVELING AT APPROX. 40 MPH ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF A RURAL STATE ROAD THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR WITH NO ACTION FROM THE DRIVER. THE REAR WHEELS SKIDDED UNTIL THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. IT WAS A SUNNY WARM DRY DAY. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT I HAVE NOTICED ON ABOUT 4 OCCASIONS RECENTLY THAT PROCEEDING FROM A STOP THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR DIRECTLY TO 5TH WHICH MADE IT SEEM LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING, THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE LITTLE TO NO ACCELERATION, IT WOULD NEED TO BE STOPPED, THEN WOULD PROCEED NORMALLY. FORD HAS 2 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SAFETY RECALL PROGRAMS: 16N02 AND 16S19 THAT WERE CREATED TO CORRECT THE EXACT ISSUE THAT I DESCRIBE AND APPLY TO 2011 AND 2012 F-150'S THAT WERE BUILT IN DEARBORN BETWEEN 2/11/11 AND 9/8/12. MY F-150 BUILT IN DEARBORN ON 8/19/12 WHICH IS BETWEEN THE DATE RANGE. BOTH THE FORD DEALER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE TRUCK IS NOT PART OF THE PROGRAM WHEN THEY SEARCH THE VIN #. IT APPEARS THAT ONE OR MORE VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THIS VETTED PROBLEM ARE STILL OUT THERE WITH UNSAFE DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. AT THIS TIME FORD IS UNWILLING TO MAKE THE REPAIRS.

I PURCHASED A 2012 FORD ECOBOOST IN JULY 2012. AND PURCHASED AN EXTENDED 5YR 100K MILE WARRANTY., WHICH WAS VALID THROUGH JULY 20, 2017. IN AUGUST OF 2017, AFTER THE TRUCK SAT FOR A COUPLE DAYS, I WOULD START THE CAR AND HEAR A LOUD RATTLE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR. I STARTED TO RESEARCH THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT ECOBOOST MODELS FROM 2011-2015 HAD FAULTY TIMING CHAINS THAT STRETCHED / MALFUNCTIONED AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I FOUND SEVERAL TESTIMONIALS AND VIDEOS OF ECOBOOST OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED FORD AND BASICALLY GOT A "SORRY" RESPONSE SINCE I WAS 60 DAYS OVER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THE REPAIR COST $~ 4000 AND FORD IS TURNING A BLIND EYE. I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS AND TAKE IMPECCABLE CARE OF MY VEHICLE. AND I'M NOW FACED WITH A $4000 REPAIR BILL WITH A TRUCK WITH 77K MILES ON IT. WE NEED NHTSA TO HELP FORD STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND MAKE THIS RIGHT TO THE CUSTOMER. AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS CURRENT TSB. IF NOT REPAIRED, THE TIME CHAIN CAN JUMP AND DESTROY THE MOTOR. THIS ISN'T A SMALL ISSUE. NO CONSUMER SHOULD BE FACED WITH A $4000 REPAIR BILL AFTER 77K MILES AND TAKING CARE OF THEIR VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING, I NOTICED THAT I WAS HAVING TO PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR HARDER TO GET POWER. I CAME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND WAITED FOR AN OPENING TO TURN LEFT AT THE INTERSECTION. WHEN I STARTED TO TURN LEFT, THE TRUCK STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND THEN THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT REVVED UP BUT THERE WAS NO POWER OR SPEED INCREASE AND A SIMPLY COASTED OUT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE TRAFFIC COMING FROM THE LEFT WAS COMING UP OVER A HILL AND I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO STOP BEFORE HITTING ME. THE TRUCK WAS ABLE TO PICK UP SPEED DOWN HILL, BUT LOST SPEED QUICKLY GOING UP HILL. I COULD SEE THIS BEING A DANGEROUS ISSUE WHEN CROSSING A BUSY INTERSECTION OR TRYING TO PASS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED. THE TRUCK HAD ONLY 74000 MILES.
MY 2012 FORD F150 HAS ABOUT 60K MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS - SHIFTING INTO HIGHER OR LOWER GEARS THAN IT SHOULD, NOT SHIFTING INTO GEAR, REVVING HIGH WITH LOW POWER, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL SHOW 0 MPH A LOT OF TIMES, AND AT ONE POINT IT DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING 65-70MPH ON THE FREEWAY. FORTUNATELY, THAT TIME NOBODY WAS BEHIND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SHOULDER. THAT ONLY HAPPENED ONCE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, AND TURN IT ON AGAIN TO GET IT GOING. THE OTHER ISSUES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING A FEW TIMES A DAY AND I CAN GET IT TO WORK AND BACK BUT IT'S A LITTLE DICEY WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK, TURN IT OFF AND SOMETIMES IN REVERSE TO GET IT GOING. I GOT A DTC P0720 A FEW DAYS AGO AND THEN TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP ON SEPT 18TH. JONES WEST FORD, THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN RENO TOLD ME IT WAS THE LEAD FRAME AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT FOR OVER $700. I STARTED LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYBODY HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR, WITH MY TRANSMISSION, FOR TRUCKS BUILT AT THE PLANT WHERE MY TRUCK WAS BUILT AT THE TIME MY TRUCK WAS BUILT. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT THEY AND THE DEALERSHIP SAY MY TRUCK IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. IT IS HOWEVER SHOWING ALL THE SIGNS OF AN UNSAFE VEHICLE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS THAT I AM SEEING IN THE RECALL (I GUESS FORD NOW CALLS IT A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" 16N02). THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME, THEY DIDN'T FIX MY TRUCK, SAID THE PART IS BACK-ORDERED AND I SHOULD COME AND GET MY TRUCK AND TAKE THE CHANCE OF DRIVING IT. I ASKED FOR A LOANER VEHICLE AND THEY SAID NO. AFTER I PICKED IT UP, DRIVING HOME IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE HOOD STARTED TO RISE UP. AFTER THEY DIDN'T FIX MY TRUCK, THEY FORGOT TO LATCH THE HOOD. VERY SCARY. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE BUSY FREEWAY, LATCHED THE HOOD.
