VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH BOTH DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OPEN. I WAS GETTING SOMETHING OUT OF THE REAR COMPARTMENT WHEN A GUST OF WIND BLEW THE DRIVERS DOOR SUDDENLY CAUSING THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DOOR TO STRIKE ME ON THE CALF OF MY LEFT LEG. I WAS VIRTUALLY DISABLED WITH PAIN AND STIFFNESS FOR TWO DAYS AND GRADUALLY IMPROVED WITH REST. THE WHOLE LEFT CALF WAS YELLOWISH PURPLE. I AM BACK TO ABOUT 80% NOW AND HE CALF STILL SHOWS THE BRUISING BUT I HOPE TO MAKE A FULL RECOVERY. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT IT IS THE WORST. THE DOORS ALMOST SEEM LIKE SAILS IN THE WIND, EVEN AS LOW AS ABOUT 15 MPH. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO DAMPING ON DOOR ACTION AS I HAVE SEEN ON SOME OTHER CARS. I CAN IMAGINE IF A CHILD HAD BEEN STANDING WHERE I WAS, INJURY COULD HAVE BEEN INTERNAL OR TO THE HEAD. I HAD INTENDED TO COPY FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON THIS MATTER BUT THEY DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY WAY TO SEND THEM EMAIL, AND I WANTED TO HAVE A COPY OF WHATEVER I SENT.
I PRE-STARTED MY TRUCK THIS MORNING 10/19 W/ AUTOSTART ON FOB. THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY. I LOADED BOTH MY 1 YR OLD AND MY 3 YEAR OLD INTO THEIR CAR SEAT AND WENT BACK INTO HOUSE TO GRAB MY RAINCOAT. WHEN I RETURNED THE EXTERIOR NEAR BOTTOM LEFT REAR GLASS WAS SIGNIFICANTLY SMOKING/SMOLDERING. 2 SECONDS LATER A SMALL 2-3' FLAME STARTED IN THE SAME AREA ON THE WEATHERSTRIP. I TURNED MY TRUCK OFF. I HAPPENED TO HAVE MY PHONE IN HAND AND VIDEO TAPED THE MOMENTS FOLLOWING. THE FLAME SELF-EXTINGUISHED AND SHORTLY AFTER CAKE A LOUD BANG. IN LINE WITH THE SOUND OF A SMALL CALIBER HANDGUN. THE SOUND WAS THE BACK GLASS EXPLODING. LUCKILY THE TINT KEPT THE GLASS SHEET INTACT. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. 1ST WITH NO KIDS IN THE CAR ON 12/15. FIRE WAS NO LESS THAN 12' FROM MY SONS HEAD, HAD THE POWER NOT BEEN SECURED THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A SIGNIFICANT CHANCE OF RUNNING UP THE COMBUSTIBLE WEATHER-STRIP AND POTENTIALLY IGNITING THE VEHICLE CABIN. I FEEL I AM ABLE TO MAKE THIS CLAIM BASED ON THE FACT I AM EMPLOYED AS A CAREER MUNICIPAL FIREFIGHTER. THIS IS UNNACEPTABLE FOR ANY TRUCK ESPECIALLY ONE WITH 44,500 MILES. THE ONLY WAY FORD WILL INVESTIGATE IS FOR ME TO PAY FOR THE COST OF DIAGNOSTIC. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
WIFE MADE SHARP LEFT HAND TURN AND POWER STEERING LOCKED UP! CLEARED AND WAS FINE ,FOR FEW DAYS I WAS DRIVING MAKE LEFT HAND TURN GOT, COMPLETE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE! PLUS MANY OTHER FAULTS. GOT TO LOCAL SHOP WAS TOLD WAS ABLE TO CLEAR MOST FAULTS, BUT NOT THE ASSIST FAULT! HAS TO GO TO DEALER BEING TOLD IT WILL COST OVER 2 THOUSAND DOLLARS .CALLED FORD WAS TOLD OUT OF WARRANTY! WIFE COULD OF BEEN KILLED! FORD WONT DO ANYTHING!!
WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF STARTING THE VEHICLE I SMELT A BURNING PLASTIC ODOR WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED MY A.C. WAS NOT WORKING, I ROLLED DOWN MY WINDOW AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN UP THE BLOWER SPEED. SHORTLY AFTER SMOKE STARTING BLOWING OUT FROM THE VENTS, THE DEFROST AREA, AND AROUND THE TOUCH SCREEN. WITHIN MINUTES THE SMOKE WAS THICK AND GREEN WITH AN ELECTRICAL FIRE ODOR. (I COULD IDENTIFY THIS AS I AM CERTIFIED THROUGH THE STATE OF MISSOURI, FIREFIGHTER 1 AND 2). I USED MY LEFT BLINKER TO PASS A VEHICLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY, THE SMOKE INTENSIFIED TO WHERE I COULDN'T SEE OR BREATHE. I EXITED THE HWY. I PARKED IN A PRIVATE LOT AND EXITED THE VEHICLE AS MELTING FLAMING PLASTIC WAS DRIPPING AT MY FEET, AND OPENED THE HOOD. NO FLAMES PRESENT UNDER THE HOOD. I LOOKED THROUGH THE PASS. WINDOW AND FLAMES WERE POURING FROM UNDER THE DASH WITH A STARTING POINT OF THE CENTER OF THE DASH AREA. WITHIN MINUTES THE VEHICLE WAS FULLY INVOLVED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE IDLED ROUGHLY AND STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. HERTRICH FORD LINCOLN (1427 BAY RD, MILFORD, DE 19963, (302) 725-3216) WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND POWER TRAIN (WRENCH) WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER, SHUT OFF, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FAILURE MORE WHEN HE FIRST STARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE THE FIRST FEW MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (FORD OF ESCONDIDO, 1717 AUTO PARK WAY, ESCONDIDO, CA, 92029) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAD FRAME FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS13257072. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN) AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER. TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY SHIFTS INTO 3RD GEAR AND STAYS STUCK IN 3RD. NO POWER AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPEN BOTH AT A STOP LIGHT AND ON THE HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE OF THE ECO BOOST FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE SHOP TO BE REPAIRED. 2013 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS A RECALL IN APRIL OF 2013 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN JUNE OF 2013 THEREFORE MISSING THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED THE CONSUMER 250.00 TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND A CLICKING SOUND WAS HEARD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAZARD LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ELECTRONIC BREAKS DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT WAS RAINING SLIGHTLY AND THE ROADS WERE WET. FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS HAPPENING, THE SYNC SYSTEM/ TOUCH SCREEN HAS FROZE AND NOT WORKED BOTH IN MOTION, AND STATIONARY 3 TIMES. CONCERNED THAT ALL ELECTRICAL ISSUES MAY BE RELATED. HAVE OWNED USED VEHICLE FOR 50 DAYS, JUST WENT OVER 60,000 MILES.
COMPLETE POWER ASSIST STEERING FAILURE: WHILE DRIVING ALONG A CITY STREET, I EXPERIENCED COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING, CAUSING THE DRIVER (MYSELF) TO VIRTUALLY LOSE ALL DIRECTIONAL CONTROL.. I COULD ONLY CONTROL THE VEHICLE STEERING AND BRING IT TO A STOP BY USING EXTREME PHYSICAL STRENGTH TO MANUALLY STEER THE VEHICLE.. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE SHE "WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MANUALLY STEER THE VEHICLE" AND, WOULD HAVE ALMOST CERTAINLY LOST STEERING CONTROL... I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.... UPON RESEARCHING THIS FAULT, I HAVE FOUND CLEAR EVIDENCE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 FORD F150 AND SUBSEQUENT YEARS... FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON THE 2014 F150 FOR THIS FAULT, BUT NOT FOR 2013 VEHICLES... LOSS OF POWER ASSIST STEERING WHILE DRIVING THIS SIZE OF VEHICLE IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION TO FIND YOURSELF IN AND, MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN THE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS!! MY OPINION IS THAT FORD ARE VERY MUCH AWARE OF THIS STEERING FAULT, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY ISSUED A PARTIAL RECALL AND, THEY WANT ALL OLD STEERING RACKS THAT ARE REPLACED, SENT BACK TO THEM! I REQUESTED THE OLD STEERING RACK THAT WAS BEING REPLACED, BE RETURNED TO ME... HOWEVER, FORD INDICATED A $400 CORE CHARGE WOULD BE BILLED TO ME TO FOR KEEPING THE OLD PART! FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A BROADER RECALL REGARDING THIS FAULT ON F150'S BEFORE MORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED OR KILLED! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEN STOLER FORD (11275 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117 (410) 356-7000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY. JORDAN FORD (609 E JEFFERSON BLVD, MISHAWAKA, IN 46545, (574) 259-1981) STATED THAT THE RECALL REMEDY WOULD NOT BE READY UNTIL APPROXIMATELY JUNE OF 2019. ANOTHER DEALER (ZEIGLER FORD LINCOLN ELKHART, 2525 BYPASS RD, ELKHART, IN 46514, (574) 294-1563) STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE SOFTWARE UPDATE TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION AND THE REMEDY WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL APPROXIMATELY JUNE OF 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MULTIPLE SEVERE TRANSMISSION ISSUES: 1. SUDDENLY DROPPING FROM 4TH TO 1ST GEAR, CAUSING SUDDEN DECREASE IN SPEED, SCREECHING OF TIRES, AND PASSENGERS IN VEHICLE TO BE THROWN FORWARD. 2. ERRATIC SPEEDOMETER. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, SPEEDOMETER WILL DROP AND START TO JUMP BETWEEN APPROX 15 MPH AND 65 MPH; THIS IS FOLLOWED BY A VERY LARGE CLUNKING SOUND. 3. VEHICLE STAYS IN TOO HIGH GEAR. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION RUN IN HIGHER GEAR THAN SHOULD BE; NOISE AND VIBRATIONS CAN BE HEARD/FELT IN VEHICLE. 4. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE AND SHIFT INTO PROPER GEAR FROM A STOPPED POSITION. ENGINE REVS HIGH, BUT TRUCK BARELY MOVES. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE (1ST ISSUE NOTED). IT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED BY MULTIPLE OTHER OWNERS THROUGH INTERNET SEARCHES. FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THEIR STANDARD DIAGNOSTICS DO NOT PICK UP THE ISSUE, BUT WHEN THEY CONTACT ESCALATED SERVICE ENGINEERS FROM CORPORATE THEY TELL THE DEALER TO TRY A FEW OTHER TRICKS TO SEE IF IT IS WHAT THEY SUSPECT. THERE IS A KNOWN FLAW THAT THEY WILL NOT PUBLISH. THIS REPAIR IS SUPPOSEDLY THE WIRING HARNESS AND LEAD FRAME THAT NEEDS REPLACEMENT. HAVE HAD THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALER 7 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION REPAIRS AND FINALLY AFTER THEM KEEPING THE TRUCK FOR 3 WEEKS THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE. CUSTOMERS SERVICES SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME BUT THEY WILL MAKE NOTE OF THE CONCERN. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS AND I'D BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE ANY MORE INFO YOU NEED. I HAVE SERVICE RECORDS SHOWING THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MANY TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. HARD JUMPY BRAKING. IT WILL SOMETIMES NOT STOP AT ALL OR IT WILL STOP REALLY HARD. THE MECHANIC SAYS THERE WAS A LEAK AND THE VACUUM MOTOR HAS STOPPED WORKING. THIS WOULD HAPPEN ANY TIME MOVING SLOWLY AT HOME OR IN TOWN OR DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE PAST MONTH.
25000 MILES. HAVE TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKES, RIGHT FRONT CALIPER STICKING. ROTORS, PADS, CALIPER, AND HOSE ALL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. NORMAL DRIVING NO TOWING OR HEAVY LOADS. A KNOWN PROBLEM TO FORD AND DEALERS. FORD THINKS IT'S NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM. SINCE WHEN ARE LOW MILEAGE BRAKE FAILURES NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM? HUGE EXPENSE. FORD NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE. FORTUNATELY THIS WAS CAUGHT WHEN TIRES WERE ROTATED. NO ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE.
61,000 MILES POWER STEERING FAILED IN MOTION FAULT ON STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NOT SOLD HAD TO REPLACE WHOLE STEERING RACK $2000.00 NOW IN MOTION TRANSMISSION FAULT CODE P7031 FIRST GEAR SYNC WILL NOT SHIFT FROM SECOND TO FIRST WITHOUT BUCKING. DEALER SAYS TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN APART THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND 1500 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY
ON A TRIP, SEPTEMBER 20TH GOING TO THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS, OUR 2013 FORD F-150 PICKUP TRUCK SUDDENLY LOST POWER. WE WERE ON MILE MARKER 295 EASTBOUND ON INTERSTATE 40, IN THE LEFT SIDE PASSING LANE GOING ABOUT 55 MPH UP A HILL. THE ENGINE STOPPED WITH NO WARNING. THE DASH SCREEN FLASHED A PICTURE OF A WRENCH AND THEN SAID "LOW OIL PRESSURE." THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE SHOWED NO PRESSURE. I THOUGHT THE ENGINE HAD BLOWN. AS I TRIED TO NAVIGATE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHILE ON A HILL, MANY SEMI-TRUCKS SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES TRYING TO AVOID MY TRUCK PULLING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER. WE MIRACULOUSLY AVOIDED A POSSIBLE MAJOR ACCIDENT. ULTIMATELY WE LEARNED IT WAS A SMALL $0.50, NUMBER 27, 20 AMP FUSE TO THE FUEL PUMP THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STOP. WE WERE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR 2 HOURS UNTIL WE COULD GET A TOW TRUCK FOR BOTH OUR TRUCK AND 5TH WHEEL. FORD IS AWARE OF FUSE 27 (FOR FUEL PUMP) FREQUENTLY MELTING. THEY EVEN HAVE A RELOCATION KIT TO MOVE THE FUSE WHEN IT MELTS DUE TO OVERHEATING BECAUSE OF ITS LOCATION. IN OUR CASE THIS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING SEMI TRUCKS.
THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR IS LOSING BRAKE FLUID THAT IS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKES. WE WERE INFORMED, BY OUR GOODYEAR SERVICE PROVIDER IN OUR COMMUNITY AS WE DO NOT HAVE A FORD DEALERSHIP, THAT THERE IS A RECALL# 16S24 FOR FORD F-150 2013-2014 TRUCKS WITH THIS SPECIFIC AND EXACT ISSUE OF BRAKE FLUID LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, HOWEVER OUR TRUCK WAS MADE ON JULY 18 AND THE RECALL DATE IS FOR VEHICLES MADE BETWEEN AUG 1-AUG 31. I FEEL THIS IS A CASE OF COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE ON FORD'S PART, AS OUR VEHICLE IS THE SAME MAKE, YEAR, MODEL AND DISPLAYING THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL IS FOR, YET THEY SAY IT DOES NOT FALL IN THEIR RECALL DETAILS, SO IT IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. THEY ARE FULLY AWARE OF THIS EXTREMELY UNSAFE ISSUE WITH OUR VEHICLE, HAVE A RECALL OUT, BUT BECAUSE OURS WAS TECHNICALLY MADE TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE AUG 1ST CUTOFF DATE, THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND IT IS NOW OUR OUT OF POCKET RESPONSIBILITY. I AM COMPLETELY BESIDE MYSELF ON THE NEGLIGENCE AND IRRESPONSIBILITY WE ARE EXPERIENCING AND RECEIVING FROM FORD/THE FORD RECALL DEPARTMENT.

IT WENT AWAY UNTIL 3 INTERSECTIONS AND TURNS WHEN I PULLED INTO TRAFFIC ON 66TH ST N ST. PETERSBURG FL AND QUICKLY LOST POWER. A MESSAGE APPEARED ON PANEL TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A LEFT TURN LANE AND HAD IT TOWED TO CLOSEST FORD DEALER THAT WAS OPEN, WALKER FORD. SEE REPAIR INVOICE ATTACHED. I WAS FORTUNATE IN THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN HIGH SPEED MERGE ATTEMPT BETWEEN HEAVY TRUCKS! AS THE REPAIR SEEMINGLY ONLY RELOCATES THE FUSE AND DOES NOT ADDRESS REOCCURRENCE, I BELIEVE THIS WAS A LIFE THREATENING SAFETY ISSUE AND CONTINUES TO BE A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE!

MULTIPLE LOSS OF POWER OCCURANCES. DOES NOT THROW A CODE WHEN DIAGNOSTICS ARE RAN. TONIGHT, WHEN MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE, WHILE ACCELERATING, TRUCK LOST ALL ACCELERATION, ALL GAUGES STOPPED WORKING AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. RESTARTED THE TRUCK, GAGES DID NOT START WORKING UNITL TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF A SECOND TIME BUT THE TRUCK WAS DRIVEABLE. ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT CLEAR.

ON SEPT. 1ST 2017 I STARTED MY 2013 F150 XLT 4X4 WITH APPROX. 93,000 MILES AND RECEIVED A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, IT HAS SINCE BEEN INTERMITTENT. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN FOR REPAIR AND THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT IT WOULD BE AROUND 1300.00 FOR THE REPAIR.
I STARTED THE TRUCK AND THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE TO THE NEAREST REPAIR FACILITY (ABOUT 4.7 MILES) UPON ARRIVAL THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR, AFTER PUMPING THE H$LL OUT OF THEM I BARELY STOPPED BEFORE CRASHING INTO A GROUP OF CARS. COME TO FIND OUT THE MASTER CYLINDER IS BLOWING FLUID INTO THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER ON EACH PRESS OF THE BRAKES. THIS HAPPENED ALL OF THE SUDDEN AND COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DEADLY IF NOT FOR THE FACT THAT I WAS GOING VERY SLOW TO BEGIN WITH DUE TO TRAFFIC. NOW WHY, AFTER NOT EVEN 30K MILES WOULD THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE HAPPEN?
TWO DAYS IN A ROW MY VEHICLE STALLED AFTER VIOLENTLY SHAKING THE STEERING WHEEL, I HAD A COMPLETE POWER LOSS. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART MY VEHICLE. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ONE THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME BACK TO INFORM ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR 26 MILES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY ISSUES. BACK IN 2013 AN INVESTIGATION WAS STARTED FOR THIS ISSUE. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE CARS COMPUTERS DID NOT THROW A CODE. NOT ONLY DID NOTHING HAPPEN FORD DID NOT MENTION ANY TSB THAT WOULD HELP OR FIX THIS ISSUE, AFTER I ASKED ABOUT ANY TSB THAT WOULD HELP OR FIX. STILL I GOT NOTHING FROM THE DEALERSHIP.

BATTERY VOLTAGE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON, TRUCK ENGINE DIED WHILE SLOWING DOWN ON HIGHWAY TO EXIT. RESTARTED AFTER SITTING BRIEFLY.. WHEN TRYING TO START ON ANOTHER DAY, STARTER WOULD SPIN BUT WOULDN'T START. AFTER DEALER CHANGED BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR, PROBLEM CONTINUED. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER. NOTED MELTED FUSE FOR FUEL PUMP RELAY. INSTALLED KIT TO REPOSITION FUSE AND WIRE FOR FUEL RELAY PUMP.

THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AND THOUGHT RESETTING THE COMPUTER WOULD SOLVE IT. JULY 2017 - BROUGHT BACK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER. THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE ISSUE BUT FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL WAS LOW THEREFORE FILLED IT UP. JULY 2017 - STILL HAVING THE ISSUE, LEAVING THE TRUCK AT THE FORD DEALER FOR ONE WEEK... THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM... TOOK THE TRUCK BACK AUGUST 2017 - DROVE ONE MONTH WITHOUT MAJOR CHOCKING. WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 100KM/H AND THE VEHICLE WENT CRAZY DOWNSHIFTING AND LOCKED THE REAR WHEELS, CARS BEHIND ALMOST HIT ME... ALMOST LOST CONTROL BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL AT THE NEXT EXIT AND CALL THE TOWING. IT COULD'VE BEEN WORST... TRUCK IS NOW AT MY LOCAL DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THERE'S NO WAY I'M TAKING BACK THE CAR BEFORE THEY FIX IT AUGUST 15, 2017 - LOCAL FORD HAS BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING RANDOMLY INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. THE CULPRIT WAS THE LEAD FRAME PART #AL3Z7G276B. UPON INVESTIGATION THERE WAS A RECALL ON THAT FOR 2010-2012 FORDS.. WELL WELL... I WAS STILL ALL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HOPEFULLY, NO ISSUE WILL EVER COME BACK!

THEN I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT GOING TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY, THE TRUCK HAS 65000 MILES, THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AWHILE NOW, AND FROM WHAT I'M READING ONLINE IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE.. WAS WONDERING WHY FORD WILL NOT HONOR THIS ISSUE AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM?
WHEEL LUG NUTS ARE TWO PIECE DESIGN AND SWELL OVER TIME DUE TO CORROSION MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO REMOVE WITH THE FACTORY SUPPLIED LUG WRENCH IN THE EVENT OF ROAD SIDE FLAT TIRE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAD 45K MILES AND WHEEL COULD NOT BE TAKEN OFF AT ROAD SIDE WITH LUG WRENCH. DESIGN IS PROBLEMATIC AND WE REQUEST THE MANUFACTURE TO RECALL LUG NUTS OR ISSUE A FIELD CAMPAIGN TO REIMBURSE OWNERS WHO HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THEM. TRUCK WAS PARKED WHEN ATTEMPTING REPAIR.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET (SPEED LIMIT 45MPH), AND WHILE IN A TURN, MY POWER STEERING ABRUPTLY FAILED CAUSING ME TO ALMOST CRASH. I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER AND CONTINUE STEERING USING MY BODY WEIGHT TO ASSIST IN STEERING WHICH WAS VERY DIFFICULT. THE POWER STEERING WOULD THEN BEGIN TO WORK AGAIN, HOWEVER IT WOULD CONTINUE TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY, SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY POWER STEERING UNIT ITSELF WAS FINE, HOWEVER IT HAD A FAULTY SENSOR THAT WAS CAUSING THE UNIT TO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSOR WAS UNREACHABLE AND THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLACE IT, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE AND HAVE THEM INSTALL A BRAND NEW POWER STEERING UNIT. THIS COST ME AROUND $2000 TO REPLACE A POWER STEERING UNIT THAT WAS DESIGNED WITH AN IRREPLACEABLE SENSOR.

ALSO, ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER, THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND "BRAKE FLUID LOW" APPEARED ON THE MESSAGE CENTER. THE CONTACT ADDED 3/4 OF A QUARTER OF BRAKE FLUID, BUT BY THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE PARKING LOT, THE BRAKE FLUID WAS GONE. THERE WERE NO NOTICEABLE LEAKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,871.
WHILE DRIVING AT BOTH HIGH SPEEDS AND LOW SPEEDS, WE HAVE LOST ACCELERATION ABILITY. A LARGE YELLOW WRENCH APPEARS ON THE SCREEN. WE HAVE TO PULL THE TRUCK OVER BY COASTING TO THE SIDE, PUT THE ROUGH RUNNING TRUCK IN PARK, TURN THE TRUCK OFF, WAIT, AND THEN RESTART THE TRUCK FOR THE ACCELERATION TO WORK AGAIN. WE HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED 2 X'S IN THE LAST YEAR AND IT CONTINUES TO DO IT INTERMITTENTLY. UNFORTUNATELY THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN NOT RECREATE IT AND IT DOES NOT COME UP WITH A DIAGNOSTIC CODE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO HELP US WITH THE ISSUE. I CALLED FORD AFTER LOOKING IT UP ONLINE AND SAW THAT THERE ARE MANY OF THE SAME OCCURRENCES HAPPENING WITH OTHERS OUT THERE. THEY STATED THERE IS NOT A RECALL AND BASICALLY I NEEDED TO JUST KEEP TRYING AT THE DEALERSHIP LEVEL. THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF!
TRUCK UNEXPECTEDLY STALLS. ERROR CODE IS P2112. THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. I HAVE INSTALLED 3 THROTTLE BODIES DURING OWNERSHIP. COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER DURING DRIVING. ENGINE STUTTERS, CONTINUES TO RUN VERY ROUGHLY, WITH COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE TOWING A RV TRAILER AS WELL AS NORMAL DRIVING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO EXPERIENCE.
WHILE ACCELERATING TO PASS ENGINE LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO SHUTTER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED SEVERAL TIMES AND FINALLY CLEARED ALL POWER WAS RESTORED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED. THIS CAUSES SAFETY CONCERNS. IT HAD 98,000 MILES ON IT THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE WHEN BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. TRIED BRAKES BUT THEY DID NOT WORK. VERY HARD PEDAL THAT COULD NOT BE PRESSED ON WITHOUT NOISES COMING THE BRAKES. STOPPED VEHICLE WITH EBRAKE AND TOOK TO LOCALE FORD DEALER. DISCOVERED THAT VACUUM PUMP LOCKED UP CAUSING THE EXAUST CAM TO BREAK INTO PCS INSIDE THE MOTOR. HAD TO REPLACE MOTOR DUE TO THE VACUUM PUMP ISSUE.
FUSE MELTED TO JUNCTION BOX CAUSING TRUCK TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND POWER STEERING TO GO OUT. TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART AND WOULD TURN OVER BUT WOULD NOT STOP EVEN WHEN KEY WAS NOT BEING TURNED. TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME POWER STEERING WENT OUT GOING AROUND A CORNER POSING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK. TOOK TRUCK IN TO GET SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM AND THAT THEY HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES.
RECEIVED MESSAGE "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" AND "HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT" WHEN TURNING LEFT ON CITY STREET AND LOST POWER STEERING ABILITY MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN AND CONTROL VEHICLE CAUSING ME TO RUN UP ON SIDEWALK. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD EPAS FAILED AND WOULD REQUIRE $2K TO FIX STEERING COLUMN.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH THE BRAKE WARNING NOTICE CHIMED AND LOW FLUID WARNING DISPLAYED IN THE DASH INFORMATION PANEL. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF MAIN ROAD ONTO A SMALLER ROAD AND THEN INTO A PARKING SPOT (TOOK ABOUT 1 MINUTE). JUST AS I PULLED INTO THE PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK BARELY CAME TO A STOP. FOR THE RECORD, IT IS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2013 F-150 FX4 ECO-BOOST WITH JUST UNDER 50,000 MILES ON IT. PUZZLED, I POPPED THE HOOD TO CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID AND FOUND ONLY 1/2 INCH LEFT IN THE RESERVOIR. THIS MADE NO SENSE SINCE I HAD JUST FILLED THE WINDSHIELD FLUID A FEW HOURS EARLIER IN THE MORNING AND NOTICED THAT THE FLUID LEVEL FOR THE BRAKES WAS ABOUT 1/4 INCH BELOW THE MAX FILL LINE. I HAD TO CALL MY WIFE FOR A RIDE TO THE NEAREST AUTO PARTS STORE TO GET BRAKE FLUID. WHILE I WAITED I CHECKED THE ENTIRE TRUCK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKS BUT DID NOT FIND ANY. AFTER RETURNING WITH THE FLUID, I FILLED THE RESERVOIR TO THE MAX FILL LINE HOPING THE BRAKES WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL BUT THINKING THERE MIGHT BE A LEAK SOMEWHERE. AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK AND TRYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, I FOUND THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL STILL ONLY GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THERE IS NO PRESSURE. I HAVE CONCLUDED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER MUST NOT BE WORKING. LUCKY FOR FORD MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND 10 MONTH OLD SON WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND ALSO LUCKY THAT I DID NOT HIT ANYONE OR ANYTHING. I AM VERY ANGRY AND ALSO CONCERNED. THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE, WORKING BRAKES ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE.
