BRAKE FLUID LEAK FROM THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER
I EXCELERATED FROM A STOP, SUDDENLY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH AND I STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND ACCELERATION. MY VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO SHUDDER, I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ITSELF OFF AND THE FULL POWER CAME BACK TO THE TRUCK.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 60 AND 65MPH AND MY 2013 F150 WITH A 6R80 TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO WHAT I BELIEVE WAS 1ST GEAR. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO CRASHING AND COMPLETELY LOSING CONTROL BECAUSE THE REAR WHEELS BREIFLY SKIDDED ON THE FREEWAY SURFACE AND BECAUSE OF THE QUICK REDUCTION OF SPEED. IT WAS VIOLENT BECAUSE I WASNT EXPECTING IT. I AM GOING TO SLOWLY LIMP IT TO A FORD DEALER IN MESA ARIZONA TOMORROW MORNING. THEY SHOULD NOT CHARGE ME FOR THIS COMPONANT FLAW. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY TRUCK.
DROVE THE TRUCK 270 MILES AT INTERSTATE SPEED ON I-95 TO A GRAND DAUGHTERS GRADUATION IN PROVIDENCE RI. AT THAT LOCATION WHILE DRIVING AT CITY SPEEDS(35 MPH) WARNING CAME ON "BRAKE FLUID LOW" I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND IT WAS LOW BUT THERE WAS STILL AN INCH OF FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR, ON THE 2 MILE TRIP BACK TO THE LOCATION WE WERE STAYING, DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I LOST ALL BREAK POWER. THE RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY BREAK FLUID OIL UNDER THE TRUCK OR ON THE UNDER CARRIAGE. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE MECHANICS DIAGNOSIS WAS A FAILED MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER WHERE ALL THE BRAKE FLUID WAS SUCKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HAD TO BOOK AN EXTRA NIGHT IN PROVIDENCE WHILE WAITING FOR THE NEW MASTER CYLINDER TO ARRIVE. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER THE DRIVE, 270 MILES HOME WAS WITHOUT INCIDENT.
JUMPS FROM FIRST GEAR TO FIFTH WHILE NOT DOING 5 MPH. TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY SHIFTS FROM 6 GEAR TO THIRD AND SPEED ODOMOTOR GOES TO 0, WRENCH SIGH APPEARS ON CLUSTER AND DRIVER SEAT BELT SHOW NOT INGAGED
LOST ALL ABILITY TO BRAKE WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON STATE HIGHWAY. DUE TO FORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES AND FAVORABLE TRAFFIC CONDITIONS, NO INJURIES WERE SUFFERED. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A MASTER CYLINDER LEAK THAT IS SIMILAR TO A CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. DESPITE HAVING AN IDENTICAL MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE OF AN ACTIVE RECALL, MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT LISTED ON THE FORD RECALLS LIST FOR THIS ISSUE.
While in traffic on the highway in St. Louis at 65 mph the transmission shifted from 6th gear to 2nd gear causing the vehicle to slow very suddenly. I came close to getting rear ended. Horns honking getting flipped off etcetera. I was not expecting the shift as I was neither accelerating nor decelerating until the transmission down shifted. Engine rpm went from 1200 or so to at least 6500 rpm as the rear tires broke loose and skidded. My own research showed cracking of the wiring and/or loose connections can cause this. Wiring harness replaced inside of the transmission and computervreflashes were required to fix it.
AS I AM DRIVING THE 2013 FORD F-150 RAPTOR 6.2L THE GEARS SEEM TO BE OFF, IF I AM DRIVING ONLY 30MPH THE GEAR IS AT 6. ALSO THE MORE DANGEROUS AND SCARY THING IS THAT IT SHIFTS DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35MPH AND THE GEAR SEEM TO SHIFT DOWN TO 1 LOCKING MY REAR TIRES AND MAKING ME SKID ALMOST CAUSING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME TO RUN INTO ME. THE TIRES LOCKED ALMOST AS IF I PUT THE BRAKES ON. I'M GLAD I WAS ONLY GOING 35MPH BUT WHAT IF I'M GOING 80, THIS WOULD BE A MORE DANGEROUS AND SCARY SCENARIO. IT ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I TURNED ON TO A STREET AND AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE IT DROPPED MY GEAR TO 1, LOCKED MY WHEELS AND ACTED LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO SHIFT OR ACCELERATE , I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF ROAD, I SAT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED AND WENT ON MY WAY NERVOUS IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, WHICH IT DIDN'T AND MADE IT HOME. NEXT DAY I TOOK TO FORD AND THEY SAID THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE SO THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. THIS IS SCARY , I DON'T FELL SAFE WITH ME AND MY SON IN THIS VEHICLE. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION? WHAT IS MY NEXT OPPOSITION TO GET THIS FIXED. THANK YOU
I EXPERIENCED THIS SEVERAL TIME BUT TO A LESSER DEGREE AND AT SLOWER SPEEDS THAN THIS INSTANCE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN SUDDENLY MY F-150 SHIFTED FROM 6TH GEAR INTO 2ND. IT FELT AS IF SOMEONE HAD SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS. I WAS JOLTED FORWARD AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON ITS BREAKS AND SWERVE TO AVOID ME. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COULD NOT GET MY TRUCK TO CHANGE OUT OF 2ND GEAR. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT SEEMED NORMAL FOR A SECOND THEN WENT INTO "LIMP HOME MODE." I THEN DROVE IN "LIMP HOME MODE" FROM WHERE I WAS TO THE CLOSEST TRANSMISSION SHOP BECAUSE MY TRUCK WAS 4,000 MILES OVER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE SHOP TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO REPLACE SEVERAL GEARS WITHIN MY TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS CAUSE BY A FAULTY LEAD FRAME. THIS HAPPENS TO BE THE SAME PART THAT WAS RECALLED ON THE 2011 AND 2012 MODELS. THIS SEEMS EXTREMELY CARELESS AND DANGEROUS OF FORD TO KNOWINGLY NOT RECALL A PART DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.
I HAD A HEAVY FROST IN MY AREA, SO WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, I TURNED ON THE REAR VIEW WINDOW DEFROST AND AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. I WAS ON AN INTERSTATE SO I WASN'T SURE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. AFTER LOOKING AROUND, I REALIZED MY REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. I INSPECTED THE WINDOW, THINKING THAT MAYBE IT WAS HIT BUT THE GLASS WAS INTACT AND THERE WAS NO MARKS OR APPEARANCE OF DAMAGE FROM OUTSIDE. I WENT ONLINE AND SEARCHED FOR THIS AND FOUND IT TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. I SPOKE TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER AND HE STATED THAT THEY HAD THREE BREAK THE SAME DAY IN THE SAME MANNER. THIS IS DANGEROUS. MY KIDS CAR SEATS ARE RIGHT BY THIS WINDOW. IF THEY WERE IN THEM, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD SMALL GLASS SPECKS ALL OVER THEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF FORD. I HAD TWO GLASS COMPANIES BOTH TELL ME THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. THEY WOULD HAVE EASILY TAKEN MY MONEY BUT THEY KNEW IT WASN'T RIGHT. IF NOT A RECALL, FORD SHOULD PUT OUT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS AND REPLACE THEM AS THEY BREAK.
MOTOR WARNING LIGHT LIT UP AND STAYED ON. WENT TO AN AUTO ZONE AND THEIR COMPUTER SHOWED FUEL VAPOR LEAK. I WAS FIRST TOLD THE GAS CAP MAY BE LETTING OUT FUMES BUT I HAVE THE CAPLESS GAS INPUT. THE TRUCK DOESN'T ACT ANY DIFFERENT BUT THE WARNING LIGHT WAS A CONCERN TO ME.
DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL WORE OUT ALONG WITH THE ROTOR. LOST BRAKE PEDAL WITH NO LOST OF FLUIDS. HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES AND ROTORS BUT STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH THAT WHEEL AND ROTOR ALONG WITH HARDLY AND BRAKE PEDAL. IT STARTED A LONG TIME AGO. JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE.
MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING ME $2000 FOR A STEERING GEAR THAT THE INTERNAL MODULE WENT BAD. FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2013 MODEL AND IS A RECALL ON THE 2014 MODEL. ITS AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IT HAPPENS. YOU COMPLETELY LOOSE POWER STEERING AND GET 3 SEPARATE WARNINGS ON THE DASH. I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT YESTERDAY. PROBLEM IS, ITS SPORADIC, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. I CALLED FORD AND THEY, BASICALLY, TOLD ME ITS NOT A RECALL BECAUSE THERE WASN'T SIGNIFICANT "INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE" FROM THIS ISSUE....BUT, I GUESS THERE WAS ON THE 2014 AND UP MODELS... THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!! THIS NEEDS TO BECOME A RECALL IMMEDIATELY! HOPE YOU GUYS CAN LOOK INTO THIS AND, HOPEFULLY, SAVE THE LIVES THAT FORD IS NEEDING IN ORDER TO FIX THIS ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NORMAL SPEEDS & OPERATING THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER MOTOR ON LOW SPEED, THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE BELOW THE DASH BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AS THE SMOKE PROGRESSED, THE DRIVER SOON OBSERVED FLAMES AND MELTING PLASTIC DRIPPING OFF OF THE HVAC BOX. THE DRIVER IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, OPENED THE [PASSENGER DOOR AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES WITH A 10 BAC FIRE EXTINGUISHER. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO THE MESA COUNTY FLEET REPAIR FACILITY, WE NOTICED THE HEAT SOURCE ORIGINATED FROM THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR AREA OF THE HVAC BOX. THE ELECTRICAL WIRING HAS MELTED INSULATION AND NO FUSES APPEAR TO HAVE BURNED.
STARTER SYSTEM FAULT WAS WORKING VERY NICE AND STOP AFTER, CON YOU HELP ME FIX IT PLEASE, THANK YOU

"FUEL FILL INLET" MY TRUCK RECENTLY DISPLAYED A WARNING THAT SAYS "CHECK FUEL FILL INLET". I'VE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE ACROSS SEVERAL MODELS. I'VE CHECKED THE INLET AND IT IS CLOSED AS IT SHOULD BE, I'VE CLEANED THE AREA IN AND AROUND WHERE THE FUEL NOZEL GOES AND THERE IS NO DEBRIS. THIS WARNING CAUSES THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT TO COME ON AND THUS GENERATES AN "EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS" CODE. THE " CHECK FUEL FILL INLET" WARNING INTERMITTENTLY DOESN'T COME ON AND THUS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND I'M ABLE TO USE MY REMOTE START. WHEN IT COMES ON I AM NOT ABLE T REMOTE START MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. I GOT IN TO START IT AND THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON. IT IS NOT AN ISSUE THAT FORD IS UNAWARE OF AND FORD OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE FOR NEARLY 10 YEARS.
COMPLETE FAILURE OF POWER STEERING. MULTIPLE FAULT LIGHTS. HILL DECENT FAULT, ADVANCED TRACK SERVICE FAULT, STEERING ASSIST FAULT, AND A COUPLE MORE. WHOLE DRIVING, I WENT YOU MAKE A LEFT TURN. TURNED THE WHEEL ABOUT 3/4 AROUND AND IT "POPPED" BACK TO THE RIGHT AND THEN RELEASED ALLOWING ME TO MAKE THE TURN. ONCE I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND TURNED IT OFF, I STARTED THE TRUCK AGAIN AND WENT TO TURN THE WHEEL BUT IT WOULD ONLY SQUEAL WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL. WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN AT ALL. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AGAIN AND RESTARTED IT. NO POWER STEERING AT ALL NOW. DEALER SAYS PROBABLY AROUND $2000 TO FIX. VERY DANGEROUS.
WHEN DRIVING IN MOTION, MY VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING UP THE BRAKES. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND THE AIRBAG BEGAN TO READ INOPERABLE VIA THE DISPLAY. IN ANOTHER SITUATION (WHICH OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES) WHEN STARTING FROM A STATIONARY POSITION MY VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED BY FORD, THEY ADVISED THE LEAD FRAME ON THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND THEY REPLACED IT. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT 10-12 FORD F-150'S FROM THE KANSAS CITY PLANT HAD THIS ITEM RECALLED.
THE 'CHECK FUEL INLET' WARNING RANDOMLY COMES ON ALTHOUGH NO DEBRIS IS IN THE INLET AND THE FUEL DOOR SPRING AND GASKET ARE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. THE HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE ON BUT IS OCCURRING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT ROUGHLY 70 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, TRUCK LOST POWER AND STARTED TO COAST. SPEEDOMETER SWEPT TO 0 INDICATED SPEED, TACHOMETER INDICATED ENGINE AT IDLE SPEED, AROUND 1000 RPM, WHILE COASTING FROM 70 MPH SLOWING TO ROUGHLY 40 MPH. VEHICLE REGAINED POWERED DRIVE BRIEFLY THEN AGAIN LOST POWER AND COASTED. AFTER RESUMING COASTING, THE BACK TIRES THEN BREIFLY LOCKED UP, VEHICLE SHUDDERED, THEN RESUMED COASTING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN IN TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE AND BECAME NEARLY UNCONTROLLABLE. EXPLANATION FROM DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FROM TRANSMISSION TO ECU PASSES THROUGH FIREWALL THROUGH A GROMMET THAT IS KNOWN TO FAIL. THE WIRING CHAFES AND CAUSES A SHORT AND THE TRANSMISSION TO MALFUNCTION. APPARENTLY A TSB IS ISSUED FOR REPAIR AT CUSTOMER'S EXPENSE PER DEALER BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND IT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROVERBIAL TICKING TIMEBOMB FOR F150 OWNERS AND SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL.
I HAD MY REAR DEFROST ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES ON MY WAY TO WORK. I HEARD A LOUD POP AND STOPPED TO SEE WHAT HAPPEN. I NOTICED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY WHERE NO HELP. I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO GET IT FIXED AS I HAVE THREE SMALL KIDS WHO RIDE IN THE BACK. THE GLASS PLACE THAT FIXED IT TOLD BE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF. MY TRUCK IS A 2013 WITH 56,000 MILES ON IT.
FUEL PUMP FUSE MELTED WHILE ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH, CAUSING SUDDEN DECELERATION AND LOSS OF POWER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO BARELY GET OFF THE FREEWAY TO THE SHOULDER. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN DEFECT AND THE INCIDENT COULD EASILY HAVE RESULTED IN A BAD ACCIDENT.
BRAKES FAILED. WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN I NEED TO STOP FOR RED LIGHT AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I ALMOST WENT THRU THE INTERSECTION ON HIGHWAY ROUTE 100. THIS WAS DO TO THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER FRAILER. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS BUT MY MODEL AND VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED. IT HAS SINCE BEEN REPAIRED BY THE DEALER AT A COST TO ME AND NOT UNDER ANY RECALL LIKE THE OTHER MODELS
STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND TURNED ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. THE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON THEN FLICKERED ON AND OFF. LESS THAN ONE MINUTE LATER THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60 DEGREES.
THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT TO THE APPROPRIATE GEAR AND ACTED ERRATICALLY. THE RPMS MIGHT SPIKE BUT THE TRUCK DID NOT ACCELERATE. OTHER TIMES THE RPMS DROPPED TO ZERO EVEN WHEN I DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER FIRST REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE LEAD FRAME FOR A TOTAL OUT OF POCKET COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1,100. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE PROBLEM MANIFESTED ITSELF AT LOWER SPEEDS IN TOWN. THIS COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM UNDER OTHER CONDITIONS SUCH AS TOWING A CAMPER/TRAILER OR AT HIGH SPEEDS. I SEE THERE WAS A LEAD FRAME RECALL ON THE 2012 F150S. IT SEEMS APPROPRIATE THAT THIS RECALL WOULD ALSO BE APPLICABLE TO THE 2013S. TAKATA RECALL 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE SHUDDERS AT VARIOUS TIMES, STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS DURING ACCELERATION (EXTREME HAZARD), IN TRAFFIC (HAZARD), STALLED WHEN STOPPED QUICKLY WHILE BACKING, THEN CRANK NO START AFTER STALL.
THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65 MPH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SHIFTS INTO FIRST GEAR ALL LIGHTS ON REAR END SQUELLING, COMPLETELY NO CONTROL OVER VEHICLE, DANGEROUS, DANGEROUS
AT 36,100 MILE I REPORTED THAT THE 1) REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE PROBLEMS HAVE GROWN NOW TO INCLUDE 2) THE DIGITAL TEMPERATURE DISPLAY IS STUCK AT A CONSTANT 55'. 3) THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER DOES NOT OPERATE - AT ALL. 4) THE HEATER DOES NOT WORK - AT ALL. ITEMS 2-4 ALL OCCURRED WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS AND REMAIN DEFECTIVE AS OF 4/11/17
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 9 MONTHS THE THROTTLE BODY ON MY FORD TRUCK FAILED. THIS TIME IT PRESENTED A REAL HAZARD AS WE WERE TOWING OUR TRAVEL TRAILER AND IT'S FAILURE PUT US IN A PRECARIOUS SITUATION AS WE'RE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE. THE FORD DEALER FIXED IT THE FIRST TIME UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THEN THE SECOND REPAIR THEY TRIED TO EVADE PAYMENT. THE HEADLINER IS COMING DOWN RIGHT IN FRONT OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER. IT WILL EVENTUALLY DROP ENOUGH TO BLOCK THE DRIVERS VIEW. IT WAS A SMALL AMOUNT AS 1ST AND KNOW IT'S ABOUT 2 1/2" DOWN ON BOTH SIDES. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 34K ON IT AND IS GARAGE KEEP MOST OF THE TIME. DEALER WILL ONLY ASSIST MAKING ME PAY 1/3 OF THE COST TO REPLACE IT. THIS IN MY OPTION IT A DEFECT IN MATERIALS AND WORKMEN SHIP. I THINK IS SHOULD BE A FIX BY FORD AND DEALER NOT THE CUSTOMER.
I HAVE HAD REAR WINDOW ISSUES SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. FIRST WAS WHEN THE REAR DEFROST/MIRROR DEFROST WASN'T WORKING. THEY REPLACED THE WINDOW IN 2014. SECOND TIME WAS IN APRIL OF 2017. WE HAD A HEAVY FROST AND I COULDN'T SEE OUT THE BACK WINDOW OR THE SIDE MIRRORS, SO I TURNED ON THE DEFROST. ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED LOOKING AROUND THINKING SOMEONE SHOT AT ME. I DIDN'T REALIZE RIGHT AWAY DUE TO THE REAR HEADREST COVERING A LARGE PORTION OF THE WINDOW, THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE STATIONARY SECTION OF THE BACK WINDOW HAD EXPLODED. THE GLASS STAYED INTACT, HOWEVER TINY SLIVERS OF GLASS FELL ONTO MY DAUGHTERS CAR SEAT WHICH WAS IN FRONT OF THIS WINDOW. FORD DID REPLACE THE WINDOW, RELUCTANTLY AND I PAID AN INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE, EVEN THOUGH THE INTERNET IS FULL OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I RECENTLY WENT TO TURN ON MY REAR DEFROST AGAIN, AND FOUND THE SAME ISSUE AS THE FIRST PROBLEM, WHERE THE DEFROST WONT WORK AND THE LIKELY FIX IS REPLACING THE REAR WINDOW. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH WINDOW IN FOUR YEARS. IS THIS SOMETHING I SHOULD EXPECT TO DO LIKE OIL CHANGES AND TIRES? THIS IS RIDICULOUS. THE EXPLODING WINDOW CAN REALLY BE AN ISSUE. SOMEONE MAY PANIC AND THINK ITS A GUNSHOT, AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR IF SOMEONE WAS SITTING THERE, THEY COULD GET GLASS SLIVERS ON THEM. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR YEARS WITH THESE WINDOWS. WHY HAVEN'T THEY BEEN FORCED TO REDESIGN IT?
FAILURE OF THE LEAD FRAME IN THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. FORD RECALLED A NUMBER OF 2011 AND 2012 F150'S FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE LEAD FRAME FAILURE, WHICH HOUSES THE SPEED SENSOR, CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO ATTEMPT TO DOWNSHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MINE IS A 2013 F150 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST TWO TIMES OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ~50MPH, AND CAUSED A SUDDEN/TEMPORARY BOG AND DECELERATION. THE THIRD TIME THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR FROM APPROXIMATELY 50MPH, CAUSING THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK UP AND CREATE A SHORT SKID, BEFORE SHIFTING BACK INTO A HIGHER GEAR. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME NEARLY CRASHED INTO ME BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN DECELERATION WITHOUT WARNING. THIS WAS ON A STRAIGHT, LEVEL HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING AT A CONSTANT SPEED. THE THREE INCIDENTS OCCURRED SEVERAL WEEKS APART IN SIMILAR CONDITIONS, AND THE FIRST TWO WERE NOT SEVERE ENOUGH FOR ME TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE IT FOR SERVICE. I HAD THE PART REPLACED AT $727 COST TO ME. THE VEHICLE HAS 66,000 MILES AND WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. I ASKED FORD ABOUT COVERING THE COST, SINCE THE RECALLED '11 AND '12 MODELS WERE COVERED FOR ALL REPAIR COSTS BEYOND 100,000 MILES. I WAS INFORMED SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND TRANSMISSION, FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION KNOWN TO FORD. MANY OWNERS MAY FOREGO REPAIRS DUE TO THE COST, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE INITIAL SIGNS OF A PROBLEM ARE NOT SEVERE, UNTIL THEY HAVE A FULL ON LOCKUP OF THE REAR WHEELS AS I EXPERIENCED. I HAVE THE RECEIPT AND ORIGINAL LEAD FRAME THAT WAS REPLACED IF NECESSARY FOR INSPECTION.

THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY FOUR MILES LATER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE D'ORAZIO FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SWITCH ASSOCIATED WITH THE IGNITION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY FOUR TIMES WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

ALL ELECTONICS IN VEHICLE WENT BLANK, INCLUDING ALL CONTROLS/GAUGES. BEFORE DOING SO, LAST CODE READ, SHIFT TO PARK. ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT, BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND NEARLY PULLED ME INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ACCELERATION IS BAD TOO, FEELS LIKE IT IS NOT FIRING ALL CYLINDERS AGAIN. HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IN FOR A NUMBER OF ISSUES, INCLUDING CRANKSHAFT SENSOR ISSUES(WAS LOSING POWER TO DRIVELINE); BRAKES LOCKING UP (HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS SIX TIMES AND LAST TIME I REPLACED BOTH CALIBERS AS WELL; POWER STEERING HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE, FRONT AXLES AND BEARINGS REPLACED. AS WELL AS, AC PROBLEMS. WHEN THE FIRST ISSUES AROSE, I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE TECH AT DEALERSHIP I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, (LATER HE COMPLETELY DENIED TELLING ME THIS) INSTEAD THEY FIXED SOME THINGS AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. PROBLEMS HAVE CONTINUED SINCE, LIKE I SAID HAVE TAKEN IT IN AT LEAST 6 TIMES TO A DEALER AND ONCE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. AT FIRST THE PROBLEMS WERE COVERED BY WARRENTY, NOW THEY ARE NOT, THERE IS ONLY 78,000MILES ON THE TRUCK AND HAS BEEN IN SHOP AT LEAST 6 TIMES AND IS ONLY 4 YRS OLD. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO, AS THE PROBLEMS RESEMBLE RECALL ISSUES, BUT DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY AREN'T PART OF ANY RECALLS. CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY ON THE ROAD.
STEERING VIBRATES/HUMS NOTICEABLY WHILE DRIVING, ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT CONSTANT. NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEEDS, CAN'T TELL AT HIGH SPEEDS. CONCERN FROM READING OTHER REPORTS THAT IT IS THE EPAS STEERING SYSTEM WHICH IS FAULTY. HAD IT CONFIRMED AT MY FORD DEALER IN DECEMBER BEFORE MY MOVE TO OKLAHOMA.- THEY SAID I COULD DRIVE IT.
MY MOON ROOF DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. WHEN GOOGLED THERE ARE THOUSAND OF HITS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. ALSO PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE GLASS SHATTERING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURES DEFECT.

I HAVE LOST ALL POWER STEERING WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION. THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE HAD THE STEERING GEAR REPLACED TWICE NOW AND THIS IS IN THE LAST18 MONTHS, EACH TIME COSTING OVER $1700. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED WHILE I AM DRIVING. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS FOR THE SAME THING IN OTHER YEARS AND THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF COMPLAINTS TO BE READ.
THE RIGHT FRONT BREAK KEEPS OVER HEATING EVEN AFTER REPEATED REPLACEMENT OF CALIPERS ROTORS AND PADS. THE SYSTEM LOCKED UP AND CAUSED HEAT DAMAGE TO THE FLEXIBLE LINE CONNECTING THE METAL LINE TO CALIPER AND ALL BREAK COMPONENTS. THIS OCURRED LESS THAN 5000 MILES AFTER COMPLETE BREAK REPLACEMENT ON ALL TIRES. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE DRIVER FRONT STILL HAD 99% OF ITS PAD. AFTER REPLACING ALL COMPONENTS IT DID IT AGAIN IN LESS THAN 100 MILES. THE SHOP REPLACED THE CALIPER AND PADS SAYING THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN A BAD CALIPER BUT NEW ONE ALREADY TO HOT TO TOUCH AFTER ONLY 50 MILES. THEIR \MUST BE A PRESSURE PROBLEM AS THE DRIVER SIDE IS COOL TO THE TOUCH AND PASSENGER SIDE YOU CAN FEEL THE HEAT AT HOOD LEVEL. THE TRUCK WAS MADE 2-13 DEARBORN PLANT. I HAVE NOTICED A EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THIS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE SINCE I HAVE OWNER IT. BOUGHT IT NEW. PROBLEM OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY
LOSS OF POWER WHEN I ACCELERATE. I FEARED FOR MY LIFE, WHEN I WAS MERGING ON TO THE HIGHWAY AND A SEMI-TRAILER ALMOST REAR ENDED ME BECAUSE I COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO GET UP TO THE SPEED LIMIT.

WHEN I LOOKED BACK I SAW THE PASSANGER OF THE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. I CAME INSIDE AND RESEARCHED WHAT I NEEDED TO DO TO HAVE THIS FIXED, I SAW HUNDREDS OF POSTS OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHERS. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT THAT FORD IS NOT TAKING CARE OF! THE TRUCK IS A 2013 F150 SUPERCAB WITH 26K MILES IT HAS THE SLIDING GLASS WINDOW WITH DEFROST.
