I WENT TO PASS A CAR AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO CUT OUT AND LOSE POWER. I DID FINALLY PASS THE CAR AND THE ENGINE WAS ERRATIC FOR AT LEAST 2 MORE MILES. ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING THE ENTIRE TIME BUT THEN STOPPED AND EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. IT HAD JUST STOPPED RAINING AT THE TIME AND WAS HUMID, TEMP 75. IT HAPPENED DURING FULL THROTTLE. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE LOOKING INTO IT. *TR
THE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL LEVER ON THIS VEHICLE REQUIRES THE DRIVER TO ENGAGE THE LEVER MULTIPLE TIMES TO INDICATE A CHANGE FROM A RIGHT TURN TO A LEFT TURN AND VICE VERSA. FOR EXAMPLE, MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM ONE ROADWAY ONTO ANOTHER ROADWAY, AND THEN NEEDING TO MAKE A QUICK RIGHT TURN OFF OF THE 2ND ROADWAY REQUIRES THE DRIVER TO FIRST DISENGAGE THE LEFT DIRECTIONAL, AND THEN IN A 2ND MOTION, ENGAGE THE RIGHT DIRECTIONAL. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO MERELY MOVE THE DIRECTIONAL LEVER UP (TO INDICATE A RIGHT TURN) AFTER TURNING LEFT IN ONE FLUID MOTION. IT REQUIRES A) HOLDING THE LEVER DOWN TO INDICATE A LEFT TURN B) IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT TURN, HITTING THE LEVER RIGHT TWO TIMES TO INDICATE A RIGHT TURN. THIS IS CONTRARY TO HOW TYPICAL DIRECTIONAL LEVERS WORK. OFTEN IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SIGNAL YOUR INTENTIONS TO OTHER DRIVERS IN A TIMELY FASHION - OR, THE DRIVER MAY HOLD THE LEVER UP, THINKING HE HAS ENGAGED THE RIGHT DIRECTIONAL, BUT HAS MERELY DISENGAGED THE LEFT. *TR
2013 F150 ECO BOOST PROBLEM WITH APPROXIMATELY 2781 MILES DROVE THRU THE TOWN ALBERT LEA, MN AT ABOUT 1100 HOURS ON 5/28/13 (CST) AT ABOUT 30 MPH. ENTERED THE ON RAMP (CLOVERLEAF STYLE RAMP) TO I-35 SOUTHBOUND. ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO 60 MPH DUE TO SHORT ON RAMP/MERGE LANE. ENGINE LOST POWER (APPROX. 80%???) THEN WENT INTO A SHAKING/SHUTTERING MODE. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT FLASHED INTERMITTENTLY. ATTEMPTED TO MERGE WITH SEVERAL SEMI'S ON I-35 (THE REASON FOR QUICK ACCELERATION PLUS THE SORT MERGE LANE). BACKED OFF ON THE GAS PEDAL WHEN ENGINE POWER DECREASED AND IN APPROXIMATELY 20 SECONDS THE ENGINE RECOVERED AND NEVER HESITATED AGAIN. THE WEATHER TEMPERATURE WAS APPROX. 60 DEGREES F WITH A HEAVY MIST AND MODERATE FOG. THE BOTTOM LINE: IF ANY ONE OF THE TRUCKERS HAD HICUPPED OR HAD BEEN DISTRACTED DURING OUR TERRIFYING MERGE WE WOULD BE WRITING THIS INFO FROM A HOSPITAL BED (OR NOT WRITING FROM A MORGUE). DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTIC WITH NO INDICATIONS OF ANY FAILURE IN SPITE OF ENGINE WARNING FLASHING DURING POWER LOSS OR SHAKING (DEATH RATTLE???). DATE OF MANUFACTURE APPEARS TO BE DECEMBER 2012. *TR
VEHICLE IS GETTING WAY BELOW ESTIMATED MPG. TRUCK IS BARELY GETTING 16 MPG WHILE THE FALSE ADVERTISEMENT SAYS THE TRUCK WILL GET 17-21 MPG. THIS IS A BRAND NEW TRUCK AND HAS THOSE FAR SHOWN FALSE ADVERTISEMENT IN GAS MILEAGE. ALONG WITH THE MPG, WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 2ND GEAR WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPG LEAVING THE RPMS AT A HIGH RATE WHEN IT DOWN SHIFT. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WAY THIS TRUCK DOWN SHIFTS IN CRUISE CONTROL. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS THIS IS NOT THE WAY A 50K PLUS TRUCK SHOULD BE DRIVING OR THE FALSE REPRESENTATION OF THE MPG THAT FORD HAS CLAIMED. IF I HAD KNEW THE MPG WOULD HAVE BEEN THIS BAD I WOULD HAVE CONSIDERED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE A NEW FORD F-150 WITH ONLY 1,500 MILES ON IT. I WAS LEAVING A RESTAURANT GETTING ON THE ROAD WITH CARS RUSHING BEHIND ME GOING ABOUT 45MPH WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE TRUCKS ENGINE STARTED SHAKING REALLY BAD. THE ENGINE LIGHT COME, TRUCK STARTED BEEPING AND THE TOOL WRENCH STARTED TO FLICKER ON THE DASH BOARD SAYING "SERVICE". THE TRUCK STOPPED ACCELERATING ALL OF THE SUDDEN AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PUSHED THE PETAL TO ACCELERATE, TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. LOST ALL POWER TO ACCELERATE. CARS FROM BEHIND HAD TO QUICKLY MANEUVER OUT OF MY LANE TO AVOID HITTING ME. COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN GOING FASTER. CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TAKE TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT??S GOING ON. I HAVE READ OTHER SIMILAR PROBLEMS TO MINE STATING THE WEATHER AND/OR CONDITION OF ROAD WAS WET BUT AS FOR MY ISSUE THE WEATHER OUTSIDE WAS COOL AND SUNNY NO RAIN OR WET ROAD AT THE TIME THE ISSUE HAPPENED. *TR
2013 F150 XLT W/ ECOBOOST 42K COST , HAD TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT AND THE ENGINE STALLED STARTED MISSING BARELY MISSED TOTALING THE TRUCK HAD TO PLOW IN TO A GRASS MEDIAN TO KEEP FROM BEING HIT. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE TRUCK AND GET IT HOME AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED. IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE I DON'T KNOW WOULD BE, THIS IS SCARY STUFF. *TR
WHILE ON I95 IN VIRGINIA, AFTER TRAVELING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON IN AN INTERMITTENT RAIN, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE AND BUCK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. ANY ATTEMPT TO DO SO CAUSED THE TRUCK TO JERK AND SHAKE. AS I MOVED TO THE RIGHT LANE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER, THE LIGHT STOPPED FLASHING AND THE TRUCK BEHAVED NORMALLY. I COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT SINCE I DID NOT DRIVE AT A CONSTANT SPEED AGAIN FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME REMAINING IN THE TRIP. THIS OCCURRED IN A 2013 FORD F150 XLT SUPERCREW WITH A 3.5L ECO BOOST ENGINE. *TR
MAY 22, 2013- WHILE DRIVING SOUTH ON I-55 AND MERGING ONTO I-12, I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN I GAVE THE TRUCK GAS TO ACCELERATE INTO ONCOMING INTERSTATE TRAFFIC OF 70+ MPH. MY TRUCK COMPLETELY WENT LIMP AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. I WAS IN REAL TROUBLE AT THIS POINT SO I PULLED OFF WITH ONE TIRE IN THE GRASS TO AVOID A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND POTENTIALLY BEING KILLED. APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE LATER THE TRUCK REGAINED POWER AND I CONTINUED TO MY DESTINATION WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOING BACK OFF. MAY 23, 2013- I CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG IF THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF. STATING THE SYSTEM DOES THIS AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTION? MAY 28, 2013- I WAS TRAVELING IN GALVESTON, TX AT 25 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I DID ATTEMPT TO GIVE IT GAS TO SEE IF THE SAME PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING AND IT ONCE AGAIN WOULD NOT RESPOND WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYING ON PERMANENTLY THIS TIME. I PARKED MY TRUCK FOR WORK UNTIL JUNE 11, 2013. I TOOK A PICTURE OF MY DASH TO DOCUMENT THE WARNING LIGHT. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP @ 7:20 A.M. ON 6/10/13 EXPLAINING MY SITUATION. HE STATED THAT OVER THE PHONE IT SOUNDS LIKE THE INNER COOLER. HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IT IS NOT DANGEROUS AND NOT TO WORRY. HE SAID THE PART WAS AN UPDATED PART AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS TO KNOW THE PROBLEM FOR SURE. DROPPED TRUCK OFF AT FORD DEALERSHIP @ 11:10 A.M. ON 6/12/13. RECEIVED PHONE CALL FROM FORD @ 3:20 ON 6/13/2012. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT MY INNER COOLER BECAUSE MY TRUCK HAS THIS SO CALLED UPDATED INNER COOLER AND THEY REPLACED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THEY ASSURED ME THIS WAS FIXED AND WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN SINCE THE SYSTEM WAS UPDATED. THE POWER LOSS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES SINCE AND HAS ME REALLY WORRIED TO DRIVE IT. *TR
ON 5/22/13, WHILE TRAVELING ON I-81 VEHICLE HWY MILEAGE DROPPED FROM 20.3 TO APPROX 16 MPG. ON 5/23 WHILE DRIVING TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN HOULTON, MAINE I WAS PASSING A VEHICLE AT 30MPH INA 45 ZONE AND THE ENGINE ALMOST SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO PULL BACK BECAUSE OF APPROACHING TRAFFIC. AT THE FORD DEALER, THEIR COMPUTER CHECK SHOWED THE ENGINE DROPPED THE #6 CYLINDER (THAT'S WHAT THEY TOLD ME). THEY SAID IT WAS A ECOBOOST PROBLEM AND WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE FACTORY ENGINEERS. TWO WEEKS LATER, I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM FORD OR THE FORD DEALER. I ORDERED & THEY BUILT THE TRUCK IN APRIL 2013. IT WAS DELIVERED 4/26 AT CHEROKEE FORD, WOODSTOCK, GA. I BOUGHT THE ECOBOOST ENGINE BECAUSE OF THE EPA HWY MILEAGE RATING OF 21 MPG AND PAID $1050.00 EXTRA TO GET IT. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET APPROXIMATELY AT 70MPH, I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE PAST A VEHICLE. THE TRUCK DID NOT RESPOND BUT DECELERATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND WITH ONLY SLIGHT PRESSURE TO THE GAS TO MAINTAIN SPEED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5-10 SECONDS THE VEHICLE REGAINED POWER. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME, SAME CONDITIONS SAME RESULTS. THE FORD DEALER SAYS ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH PARTS BACK ORDERED. THIS SEEMS UNACCEPTABLE IF ITS A KNOW PROBLEM. SOMEONE CAN GET IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF THEY PULLED OUT IN FAST MOVING TRAFFIC EXPECTING ACCELERATION TO BE THERE. *TR
WHEN ACCELERATING THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER THE DEALER PROVIDED SERVICE FOR THIS ISSUE, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DECELERATING TO A STOP AND AGAIN WHILE ACCELERATING FROM THIS STOP. MOST RECENTLY THE ENGINE HAS BEEN VERY SLUGGISH AT TIMES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. *TR
UPON HARD ACCELERATION TO PASS ON HIGHWAY THE TRUCK LOST POWER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUALLY FLASHED AND SHUTTERED WHEN ATTEMPTED TO GIVE TRUCK ANY ACCELERATION. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING ON SHOULDER TO GET TO SAFE EXIT VEHICLE SEEMED TO RESET AND REGAIN ALL FUNCTIONS AND POWER. *TR
VEHICLE LOST POWER WHEN TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. NOTE I WAS IN A 75 MPH AREA TRYING TO PASS A VEHICLE THAT HAD TRASH FLYING OFF TRUCK. IN ANY CASE WHEN I PUNCHED THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE DID A NOSE DIVE AS IT LOST POWER. IT TOOK ABOUT 2 SECONDS FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESTORE TO NORMAL OPERATION. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,300. *TR
REDUCED ENGINE POWER DURING HARD ACCELERATIONS. EXPERIENCING MISFIRES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WHEN PULLING OUT INTO INTERSECTION. WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING VEHICLE IN INTERSECTION BECAUSE TRUCK LOST POWER AND SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, TRUCK WAS CALLED ON FAST TO MAKE A LEFTHAND TURN AT THE GAP IN TRAFFIC AND LOST POWER. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON APRIL 13, 2013. FORD DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND DETERMINED PROBLEM WAS DUE TO OASIS SPECIAL MESSAGE NUMBER 32227, "INTERMITTENT STUMBLE/MISFIRE ON ACCELERATION". FORD SAID THERE IS NO FIX YET "ENGINEERING IS INVESTIGATING, CONTINUE MONITORING FOR UPDATES". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
AFTER LEAVING I-20 AND ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP UNTO I-95 NORTH, I WAS ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR, THE ENGINE RPM WENT UP, BUT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T ACCELERATE. I HAD TO BRAKE AND PULL OF TO THE SHOULDER TO ALLOW TRAFFIC TO PASS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHAKING, AFTER A MILE EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. WE WERE EXPERIENCING HEAVY RAINS ON I-20 WEST OF CHARLESTON SC. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONSTANTLY DRIVE ROUGHLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON I-95 IN GEORGIA AT 65 MPH, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE. THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, LOSE POWER, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE WEATHER AT THE TIME WAS 70 DEGREES WITH MODERATE RAIN. I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT OFF THE MOTOR. THE ENGINE RESTARTED OK. I DID NOT ATTEMPT ANY MORE HARD ACCELERATIONS. I HAD NO MORE STALL PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND A MISFIRE CODE, BUT HAD NO EXPLANATION OR FIX TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS AN ECOBOOST VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE WRENCH ICON DISPLAYED "MAJOR MALFUNCTION" AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST COMPLETE THROTTLE CONTROL. KEN GARFF FORD IN SAINT GEORGE, UTAH 84770 WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE ECM BOARD IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED NO PLACE IN THE CARFAX EVEN SHOW'S WHEN CONSUMER BROUGHT IT IN TO SERVICE. NO MENTION THEY REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK WHEN A PISTON SHRANK IN CYL NO#3 THEY REPLACE THE LONG BLOCK IN MARCH 2017 THREE WEEKS BACK IN APRIL NOW TO REPLACE HEAD'S ENGINE STILL HAD A MISS TWO WEEKS AFTER THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THROTTLEBODY THE LIGHT STILL COMES ON THEY CAN NOT FIX PROBLEM. VEHICLE PURCHASE DATED SHOULD BE ON OR BEFORE INCIDENT DATE UPDATED 9/12/18*JB
MY FORD F150 XLT, 4X4 STALLS AND ALMOST SHUTS DOWN AT TIMES. THE TRUCK IS BRAND NEW. THIS TRUCK HAS THE ECOBOOST V6 ENGINE. THE CONDITIONS WERE THAT THE ROAD WAS WET. UNHAPPY BECAUSE I PAID A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS RATED AT A TOWING CAPACITY OF 10,000 POUNDS OR LESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED BECAUSE THE V6 ENGINE DID NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH COMPRESSION FOR THE VEHICLE TO CARRY THE LOAD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,400.

THIS LASTED FOR ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES AND THEN MIRACULOUSLY CLEARED UP. I FEAR THE DAMAGE IT HAS DONE TO THE ENGINE AND COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A HIGHWAY. I WENT TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE AND ONLY HAD A SHORT DISTANCE TO PASS. I PRESSED DOWN HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN, TRUCK WAS COASTING, AND THE ORANGE TRACTION SLIP LIGHT CAME ON. THEN THE ENGINE CAME BACK ON AND I WAS ABLE TO FINISH PASSING. THIS WAS IN CARLSBAD, NM. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER THEY SAID THERE NOTHING SHOWED ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER, BUT THEY DID TRY TO CHARGE ME $150 LABOR. I REFUSED TO PAY, BECAUSE THIS IS A NEW TRUCK AND THE INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE DRIVING INTO CARLSBAD. I HAVE TRIED TO DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT ONCE SINCE, BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUTDOWN. *TR
ONE OF THE CURRENT RECALL ISSUES. AT ANY SPEED TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM WHATEVER GEAR IT'S IN TO 1ST GEAR. HAPPENED TO ME AT 70MPH. FORD IS AWARE ISSUE. WILL NOT HAVE A FIX FOR 2 TO 3 MONTHS. THEY STILL RECOMMEND DRIVING VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH AT ANY TIME THIS COULD HAPPEN. THEY OFFER NO RENTAL OR LOANER SUPPORT. IF YOU KEEP DRIVING VEHICLE THIS WAY IT WILL ALSO RUIN TRANSMISSION BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX IT.

WELL AFTER READING VARIOUS POSTS ABOUT HOW THEY SEEM TO NOT WANT TO FIX THE PRODUCT THEY SELL I WAS UPSET. SO WHEN I WENT UP THERE I HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER GO WITH ME OUTSIDE TO START IT LATER THAT DAY AFTER THEY ALREADY STARTED IT AND IT DID THE SAME THING I TOOK IT IN THERE FOR. IT'S LIKE THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO THEIR JOB PROPERLY. HE HEMMED AND HAWED AND STATED TO BRING IT BACK UP FOR ANOTHER SERVICE APT LATER IN THE WEEK. I HAVE YET TO DO SO B/C MY TIME IS TOO VALUABLE FOR THEM TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND BUT IT STILL ALWAYS SHUTTERS AND SHAKES SOMETIMES VIOLENTLY UPON START UP. I WAS ENTERING A SHARED MERGE LANE AND ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE INTO THE TRAVEL LANE ON MY LEFT. IT WAS RAINY AND I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BRISKLY. THE TRUCK SHUDDERED SHARPLY, LOST POWER AND WENT INTO "LIMP HOME" MODE. SEVERAL VEHICLES HAD TO MOVE SHARPLY TO AVOID ME AS I RETURNED TO THE MERGE LANE. THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL WITHIN MINUTES. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SINCE. ALWAYS RAIN AND BRISK ACCELERATION. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT SEE A DIAGNOSIS FROM THE COMPUTER. THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, SAID I WAS CURRENT WITH THE SERVICE BULLETINS, AND SENT ME ON MY WAY.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH MY 2013 FORD F-150 DOWNSHIFTED FROM SIXTH GEAR TO FORTH CAUSING THE TRUCK TO QUICKLY DECELERAT DOWN TO 47 MPH. THANK GOD THE SEATBELT WORKED AND THAT NOBODY WAS BEHIND ME. TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND LEFT IT FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED. FORD CALLED AND SAID IT WAS MY TIMING CHAIN AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3,200 + TAX. DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM I'VE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A MULTIPLE TSB'S ON THE PROBLEM YET MY FORD DEALER WHERE I GET MY MAINTAINED NEVER MENTIONED IT. I PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST IN DECEMBER 2012. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN APPROXIMATELY MARCH 2013. IT WAS RAINING. I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT WHERE I HAD MADE A COMPLETE STOP. I COULD NOT GAIN SPEED VERY WELL. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. THE ENGINE WAS SPUTTERING/POPPING AND THE WHOLE TRUCK WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE SAME HAS OCCURRED EVER SINCE ON MORE THAN A DOZEN OCCASIONS AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. HOWEVER, EACH TIME WAS WHILE IT WAS RAINING. NEVER HAS HAD A PROBLEM IN FAIR WEATHER. I EXPERIENCE A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER, MANY TIMES WHEN ON THE INTERSTATE OR WHILE TRYING TO OVERCOME A VEHICLE. THE FRONT-END LURCHES, I LOSE SPEED DRAMATICALLY, THE ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN I ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE SPUTTERS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT DOESN'T KNOW WHETHER TO CHOKE OUT OR BLOW UP. THE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE EACH TIME. ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE A MISFIRE. HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES DURING ONE TRIP OFTEN, BUT ALWAYS WHEN IT RAINS. CONTINUOUS OCCURRENCES AND BEGINNING TO BECOME MORE FREQUENT. HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO 2 DEALERSHIPS, NEITHER OF WHICH CAN DETECT ANY DTCS OR ANY OTHER PROBLEM. OFFER NO ADVICE OTHER THAN TO KEEP DRIVING IT UNTIL THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON PERMANENTLY. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. I AM REALLY AFRAID THAT THE PROBLEM MAY RESULT IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. HAVE NOT HAD ONE YET, BUT HAVE A HAD A COUPLE OF INCIDENTS WHERE I HAD TO PULL OVER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ALSO TOLD I WILL RECEIVE A SURVEY ONLINE - I NEVER RECEIVED THE EMAIL TO COMMUNICATE MY DISSATISFACTION WITH THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP. THE INTER COOLER WAS "REPLACED" SEVERAL MONTHS LATER AND THE VEHICLE STILL STALLS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES WITHOUT WARNING. WE WERE TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT NO CODES ARE SHOWING UP ON THE TRUCK. FIRST TIME ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF. SECOND TIME ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON SOLID UNTIL I GOT IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED THE INTERCOOLER AND CAC SHIELD. HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE WITH 6 MONTHS DRIVING INCLUDING SEVERAL TESTS OF ACCELERATION. HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT TRIED IT IN THE RAIN, AND I'M SEEING REPORTS OF MOISTURE ACCUMULATION AS THE ISSUE. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT EXACTLY 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 40 DEGREES IN MY BRAND NEW 2013 F-150 ECOBOOST. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A LINE OF SLOWER SEMI-TRUCKS, I PUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE ENGINE REV'D AND THE STARTED VIOLENTLY SHUTTERING TO THE POINT I THOUGHT THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE SURELY BREAKING. THE VEHICLE LOST MOST OF ITS POWER AND WITH ANOTHER TRUCKER BEHIND ME IN THE PASSING LANE, IT IMMEDIATELY BECAME AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL AND FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO LET THE LOWER TRAFFIC PASS ME SO I COULD FALL INTO THE SLOW LANE -- IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS TO PUT IT MILDLY. THE TRUCK FIXED ITSELF AFTER ABOUT 5 MILES OF SLOWER DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY KEPT IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS. I TRIED TO DUPLICATE THE EVENT AND COULDN'T. THE SCENE REPEATED ITSELF THREE TIMES UNDER EXACTLY THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES WITH TWO OR THREE WEEKS SEPARATING THE OCCURRENCES. THE LAST TIME THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID FORD CORPORATE ENGINEERING DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND TO TRY RE-INSTALLING THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT MY GAS MILEAGE HAS GONE DOWN TO AN AVERAGE 18.5 MPG AND PREVIOUSLY I WAS GETTING UP TO 25 MPG AVERAGE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING TO VIRGINIA BEACH, VA FROM BEAUFORT SC ON INTERSTATE 95. I WAS POURING RAIN, NIGHT, AND LOTS VEHICLES (AROUND). I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 200 MILES IN THE RAIN WHEN IT OCCURRED. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO PASS A TRUCK IN THE PASSING LANE WHEN THE TRUCK JUST STARTED SHAKING AND FELT LIKE IT WAS SLOWING DOWN. I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND THE SHAKING STOPPED. THEN PROCEEDED TO TRY IT AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN STARTED SHAKING AND LOSING POWER AGAIN. I THEN FOUND A REST STOP TO REST AND THINK ABOUT WHAT JUST HAPPENED. WHILE LEAVING THE REST STOP ACCELERATING UP TO SPEED IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I FINISHED MY TRIP TO VIRGINIA BEACH, VA DRIVING BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. NOTE: WAS USING REGULAR AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT.
