Unknown: On 1/2/2021 at approximately 11:30pm, we were awakened by neighbors to warn us that our home was on fire. Neighbors witnesses an explosion from our truck, that blew up most of the Ford F-150 and cause major damage to my van next to it. The fire department has investigated the explosion and listed cause of fire to Be electrical issues from the Ford F-150. Thankfully no lives were lost, but would like to see that This be investigated to avoid loss of life as a preventative measure.
Door Latches freeze in cold temps and prevent my doors from latching closed. I held an extended warranty on my vehicle and reported to my local dealership, but they would not repair since I could not replicate the issue after the fact. The newer models of my vehicle have this listed as a recall item, but they fail to recognize that the same thing is happening to my vehicle.
While driving on the freeway with defroster on in rainy weather conditions, the rear window spontaneously shattered and made a very loud popping sound as though it exploded. There was no impact that caused the spontaneous shattering. Three children under the age of 9 were seated in the back in car seats / booster seats. The windows behind them broke. They were in danger of the entire window falling through until we could safely exit the freeway and pull over. Upon parking, The window fell through and tiny pieces glass fell into the the truck bed and onto the back seats. No one was injured, though the children in the back were distressed by the incident. The entire back window was completely shattered and the edges of the window were cracked in a jagged pattern. And insurance claim was filed. No police report or other inspections have been completed by insurance or the dealer. There was no warning signal that we in danger of the window spontaneously shattering. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
Door locks freeze and door won’t latch closed.
Coolant line to turbo is leaking
Despite several recalls dealing the the doors freezing open due to water intrusion in the door latch cables, my left rear door froze open (again) last year the right rear door froze open. At both times the door had to be secured with a ratchet strap to take for repairs. Ford is unwilling this time to repair this defect at no cost. I can't be the only person with this safety issue. It gets cold in Montana, I shudder to think what would happen if a passenger fell out because the door won't latch or suddenly opened in the winter.
Significant leak in vacuum pump for brakes causing difficulty breaking.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the parking brake intermittently failed to engage. The service now warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted who referred him to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
UNKNOWN During shifting the truck lurches and loud clunking sounds happen under the truck.
LUG NUTS are distorted. They won't allow the lug wrench that comes with the vehicle to remove or tighten them. I was unable to remove a wheel after tire went flat due to 2 of the nuts warping and not able to find ANY wrench that would work. I had to grind those 2 lug nut "caps" down with an angle grinder (scuffing the alloy wheel) and then chisel the caps sides down far enough to get a 20mm socket on the nut beneath the "cap". I cannot use this F-150 until I find replacement one piece lug nuts to fit. I will not put the crappy capped nuts back on this vehicle. Ford may have saved nickles, but going cheap on something so vital will cost them many future customers, including me.
The headers are warped accoding to the Ford service garage which is a common ecoboost problem. Could cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
My turbo lines and vacuum pump are leaking coolant
While taking my vehicle to the Fred Beans Ford Dealer in Langhorne, PA for an oil service I was advised all my lug nuts must be replaced. The advisor reported they were all swollen and some are stripped in the rear. I see now that many other consumers report the same failures from the lug nuts with two metal components installed at the factory on newly issued Ford and other car manufacturers. Ford offered to replace mine for $337.55. I purchased replacements for 61.43 and with a tip at my tire store the costs were totaling 71.43. The lug nuts heat up and fail and those remaining are impossible to get off with the wrenches provided by Ford or Star designed wrenches. It's not the cost, it’s the hazard I didn't know existed! They pose a safety hazard due to the metal failure. Since I generally change my own oil, I would not have known about this safety issue except by luck taking it to the dealer. I had it in a tire store the same day, they didn't mention the issue. I was unable to remove the lugs, the wrench wouldn’t even fit over the lugs. The tire store's power tools were able to power them off. Consumers need to be notified of this hazard.
OIL PAN IS LEAKING AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE REASON IS THE OIL PAN MATERIAL IS SUBJECT TO WARPING AND CREATING A SEAL LEAK THE COST IS $1500.00. MY SAFETY HAS NOT BEEN PUT AT RISK . THE REPAIR IS UNDER WAY TODAY. DEAL HAS CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM. DEAL INSPECTED THE PROBLEM. NO WARNING LIGHT ARE ON THE VEHICLE FOR LOW OIL. AT THIS TIME THE MANURFACTURE IS NOT REPLACING WITH A ORIGINAL PART BUT NEED TO USE A PART ( OIL PAN THAT IS MEAL VS THE COMPOSITE ONE THAT IS ORIGINAL TO THE MOTOR. CONERN IS IF THE LEAK HAD GOTTIN WORSE WOULD IT CREATE A FIRE CONDITION AND LOSE OF POWER /CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. KIA HAD A OIL PAN RECALLS. WHY NOT FORD? THEI IS EFFECTING THE 2015 TO 2019 F150 WITH THE 2.7 ECOBOOST ENGINES. MY SAFTY HAS NOT BEEN
Unable to remove lug nuts with lug nut wrench provided with vehicle. Lug nut wrench does not fit over lug nut head.
I don’t know if this question qualifies in this section but I’m just trying to find out why my 12v outlets in my truck are not working and also the plug-in for my trailer hitch, neither of them are working. To the best of my knowledge I’ve checked fuses and couldn’t see anything blown. Thank you
The Engine locked, up the check engine light came on and the truck was running a little rough. I stopped turned off the engine, restarted the truck the light went off light. I drove another 40 or so miles light flashed and engine stopped got towed to dealer and was informed engine was locked up. Truck has a little less than 90000 miles and has been maintained.
Happened several times only at highway speeds. Truck goes into limp mode after accelerating to highway speed (~65). Also happened once under normal conditions, just keeping at approximately 65mph. Lose throttle pedal control, slows down rapidly, shakes excessively. No warning to when it’s going to happen, so it put me into a hazardous situation.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for servicing, he was informed that all 24-wheel lug nuts had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
While driving at 70 mph in heavy traffic the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power narrowly avoiding an accident. Suspect failed throttle body was the cause for loss of power.
After the dealer performed the 100k major service the engine began, periodically, to stall. The stall could occur while stopped (at a light or to make turn), while in park and only idling, or when the vehicle was in motion at less than 25 mph. If it stalled while starting a turn, then there was a serious risk of major collision from oncoming traffic. In said turn, more than a reasonable amount of time or distance was allowed to make the turn safely. However, if the oncoming vehicle did not recognized the vehicle was stalling, or had otherwise failed to properly evaluate the situation early enough then a collision would be likely. A scan of multiple Internet web sites found thousands of people, with model years before and after my vehicle, having the same or similar issue.
While driving, both around town and on the highway, all of the gears disappear from the gear cluster and when this happens my vehicle will not shift out of the gear that it is in. When pressing the gas pedal, I have had nothing happen and the vehicle shift unexpectedly or not shift at all. Instead of accelerating, it caused the rpm's to redline and I nearly went into the wall while on the highway. If the truck is turned off while the numbered gears on the cluster have disappeared then I have had problems trying to restart the truck. The truck will also have a warning pop up to "see manual" and warn you that the blind spot detection is offline. This problem has nearly caused me to be in several severe accidents and serious enough for me to spend the time typing this complaint. After diagnosis at Ford, they relayed that it is the molded lead frame for the transmission and that there are a few years models of f150 with this recall but not the 2015 year model.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle was slowly idling and stalling while the hill assists were not available, see manual and transmission warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was repaired, replaced the throttle body and motor assembly, . The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,400.
The fuel economy for my truck is not working at the best I’ve have gone from medium gas mileage to poor (at its best) 18-20 mpg - 10 or less
Warped exhaust manifold. The design of the exhaust manifold where it connects to the turbo is not engineered correctly and only has 2 mounting studs. The heat generated from both the exhaust and the turbo is more than the 2 manifold studs can handle and the exhaust manifold warps causing a broken manifold stud and exhaust leak. This is clearly an engineering design fault and this part should be recalled. Loss of performance, and fuel economy. No warning signals in the vehicle. This is the second time that the exhaust manifolds have warped. The first time was covered under the powertrain warranty and replaced by the dealer at +/-60,000 miles. This problem has now occurred again and is no longer covered under warranty at 86,000 miles
Told 02/01/ 2018 at a Ford Dealership that all my lug nuts were swollen due to the alloy that Ford Motor Company used on the 2015 model. They recommended I replace all lug nuts due to not being able to remove them in case of a flat tire. I replaced all lug nuts thinking this problem was corrected and that the parts used were better or improved parts. On Feb 11, 2021, I was told again my lug nuts were swollen. I informed them I had them replaced and the tech said, "Ok." On October 12, 2021, I was told again that the lug nuts were swollen and needed to be replaced. When I stated I had them replaced in 2018, I was told that I needed to replace them with after-market parts. I was never told this back in 2018. The dealership put the same defective OEM lug nuts on my vehicle costing 311.04. I went to a tire business and got them all replaced with after market parts for a cost of 59.54. I was guaranteed that this would never happen on these lug nuts. The tire business was well aware of Ford's defective lug nut problem and stated they have replaced lug nuts on many models. I confronted the dealership about my concerns and they are looking into it. I feel no one is taking responsibility for this problem.. I called Ford directly and filed two cases regarding this situation in Feb 2021 and Oct 2021. I have the case file numbers. They stated the first case was closed already. Why, I do not know and the representative couldn't tell me either. I feel like I am just being blown off about this issue. The OEM lug nuts are defective and should never be put on vehicle.
Sliding back window top trim fell off and window is hanging out this is a safety reason in my opinion because my grandchildren were in the backseat imagine what would happen if it was an impact with something who knows where that back window would’ve went. I had conversation on messenger with Ford. ladies name was Amelia and there is no recall on this item my truck is out of warranty so I will be responsible to have it fixed. Luckily this happened while sitting at a stoplight.
I have 2015 f150 and when I tow my camper on the highway at 60mph the front steering starts to pull from left to right and is very unsafe to drive
My adaptive cruise control system still malfunctions and slams on the brakes automatically because it thinks it sees a vehicle in front that I am about to collide with. This only happens when I am passing large vehicles (semis, fuel semis, etc.) to my right when driving on highways. And it does not happen all the time (maybe 10-20% of the time I pass a semi on my right). But, when it does brake it scares me and then I have to press the gas hard so the person behind me doesn't rear end me. This is part of an issue I reported previously in 2015, where my truck would slam on brakes when passing large semis and also when passing under bridges at certain times. A recall was issues for this, which took care of the braking when passing under bridges, but did not completely fix the issue when passing large vehicles. I followed up with NHTSA again in late 2015 and 2016 that the problem is still happening. I will upload the emails below as attachments.
Vehicle stops from going forward when driving or it will not move forward when starting. Vehicle idles rough but it does not move it goes into a dead mode. The issue has been diagnosed as having a faulty throttle body. The throttle body has been replaced once already but the problem persists. This is unsafe as the vehicle ceases to move forward when driving down the road.
Vehicle would stall while driving, had to stop, park, turn off and turn engine back on. Engine would shake, and would put vehicle in limp mode, with no acceleration. Happened on major Roadways and on a highway. Looked to see if others were having this problem, seems to be common for F150 owners as a throttle body issue. Had looked at and it is indeed a throttle body issue. Extremely dangerous.
In the 15 F150 the rear sliding window bracket becomes loose and falls down. If you do not notice it beforehand the sliding window will become a flying projectile in the event of a car accident or hard braking. This is extremely unsafe with car seats in the back seat. I've owned 2 15 F150s and they both did the same thing. It's just a matter of time before this becomes a serious incident.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop, the vehicle failed to respond upon depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where the engine was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to another mechanic, where the same assessment was made. The mechanic notified the manufacturer of the failure, and the manufacturer covered the engine replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
All four of the tires on my vehicle are Cooper Adventurer Tires that I purchased at Pep Boys. I have two tires that are DOT UTUJ1HL1519 and two tires that are DOT UTUJ1HL0419. I received a notice that these tires were recalled under NHTSA Recall Notice 21T-002 and Cooper Tire recall notice 178. We have brought the vehicle to the Pep Boys located at 7465 N Mesa Street, El Paso, TX 79912 on at least 5 separate occasions. Rather than verify the tires and order the replacement tires, the desk clerk and then the Service Manager have given us the run around. The tires have now been recalled since March 2021 and we started to go into this store in May 2021 to get the issue resolved. The desk clerk has told us that the service manager, Robert Lozoya, turns away everyone who comes to the store with a tire recall notice. We provided them with a copy of the recall notice repeatedly and had the vehicle there to verify the DOT number. Mr. Lozoya is running this business in a manner that fails to comply with federal law and puts customers at danger for failing to order replacement tires, failing to comply with the federally-mandated recall, and intentionally delay the replacement process on unsafe tires that the NHTSA has determined "may lead to a crash".
I have been driving since 1964 and have never experienced a total loss of all braking power in any .vehicle in my life until last Sunday. I exited from the church parking lot and pulled out onto the main drive headed home. As I approached a signal light at a "T" intersection traveling across the top of the "T" right to left, the light turned yellow so I applied my brakes to slow down, only to find that the brake pedal traveled all the way to the floor without any hesitation and the car continued on its path without slowing at all. I immediately released my foot and permitted the pedal to rise to its normal position and I pressed on it again, only to get the exact same result. I immediately down shifted to first gear and pushed down on the emergency brake pedal which slowed the car to a stop before I entered the intersection. I shifted into park and tried pressing on the brake pedal to "pump up the braking system" and got some relief, however as soon as the light change and I put the car back in drive, all resistance from the brake pedal system quit and I was back in free fall. I managed to get home using manual shifting and emergency brake assistance. The braking system never returned to any form of even trying to control the forward momentum of the vehicle. I checked the internet to find that there were pages of people entering reports of similar issues with their F150's and yet there was no report of any recall or safety issues reported. Now I may be wrong but I thought I was told back in drivers ed back 1965 the the braking system in cars had an X configuration so if something happened to the brake lines that feed the front right to rear left, that the front left and rear right wheels would still be there to get to you stopped. Well I can assure you that when the little 18" rubber hose that connects the metal hydraulic line to the front right disk caliber on my car split open, NOTHING worked not even a warning light came on until no brake fluid existed.
I get all these errors and wrench sign and see the manual sign while driving and engine turns off and we have to pull over to safety even on freeways while traffic is behind u coming at 65 or 75 mph. It has happened more than 8 times , we took it to Ford dealer in September and they gave us 11/8/21 appointment that was 2 months far and we keep having the same problem and we think it is a BIG safety recall issue as lots of people are complaining about it in different Ford Forums since 2014. We are wondering how come Ford has not recalled this issue yet ? After u turn off the engine on a busy freeway for 5 mins engine turns on and pulling it back on the freeway is a challenge and safety issue too and it gets worse when AC is ON and temperature is above 78 .... it does it randomly and very frequently when AC is ON. They are complaining for 6 years ! WOW !!
The power sliding glass window in the rear the top rail that holds the glass that slides has come loose allowing the glass to sag. It’s never even been opened. Why is it coming apart? How do I fix it.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the passenger’s side door failed to lock as intended. The contact stated that the door occasionally opened without driver input. The driver's side front door failed to lock. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to TSB: 15-0052. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the latches and locks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.
- I'm not sure what components have failed. However the issue relates to Tires halting while driving and they screech across the road. RPM's will switch from 1,500 to 4,500, down to 2,500 and at times nearly redlines. While driving it will also kick into neutral and will not operate to move in reverse or forward, even though initially the vehicle was put in "Drive". The engine sounds like it's overworking when going through this issue. The "gear" and "prndl" lights on the dash will flicker and/or disappear when this issue arises. The truck can be available upon request for inspection. - When driving and the issue arises. The truck will jolt while improperly shifting gears. It will skip several gears and even go into neutral. I lose all control of the truck when this issue occurs. Recently, I was traveling while my truck jolted. I lost all control of the truck. I could not engage with the transmission. The speed of the truck significantly decreased and I lurched forward in my seat. The gears went from "6th" and shifted automatically to "1st". The vehicle behind me nearly collided with my truck. This issues poses a threat to all drivers and passengers within range. Especially considering this happens unexpectedly. - This issue is common with Ford F-150's. Their has been a major recall, however my truck is not on that list. The recall seems to be issues on 2011's-2013's. Ford needs to investigate on their 2015 year models as well. I'm not the only one with this issue. -It has not been inspected by anyone, on this vehicle. However the fact remains, this is a prominent issue within F-150's. - The wrench light will appear right as the issue occurs. I have also received the codes listed: P0707, and P0706. This has been an ongoing issue recently. I've tried to diagnose the issue and have come upon the same issue that many others face. Ford Motor Co. is responsible for this issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that he parked the vehicle in the garage and as he exited the vehicle, the vehicle inadvertently started reversing on its own. The contact stated he attempted to jump back in the vehicle to depress the brake pedal but he was unable to do so as the vehicle was moving fast. The contact stated he jumped out of the way. The vehicle reversed down the driveway and crashed into a transformer across the street. The contact stated he got into the vehicle and switched gears to neutral, however, the indicator light would still indicate that the vehicle was in park. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact sustained bruised ribs, lacerations on the arms and legs. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The dealer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was awaiting to hear back from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed and needed a software update. The software was updated by the dealer but the contact stated that the issues have occurred again.
Coolant hoses defect. I have had non stop issues with coolant hoses blowing out on the highway due to the couplings they use. Plastic is not designed to withstand heat from the coolant and the constant temperature changes. I have to replace the couplings every 6month plus the heater core hoses because of the failure of the plastic couplings they use there isn’t an aftermarket option that is not plastic either this is a real issue due to being stranded on the road and not to mention the issues of environmental damage due to the coolant leaking all over the ground!!!
Went into 'limp mode'. Advance track, hill descent warnings. Wouldn't throttle. stopped going downhill. Known Throttle Block problem.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that he was unable to lock or unlock the front driver’s or front passenger’s side door using the key fob, or the power master door lock switch. The contact stated that he noticed that water was leaking through the front driver’s and passenger’s side door and the bottom of the doors and floorboard would be wet. The contact also stated that the hood latch warning light would frequently indicate that the hood latch was opened while it was closed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
In September 2019 my brakes failed on me while driving my truck. The red brake light on the dash came on while I was driving to work and the dealership diagnosed the issue as "master cylinder leaking into the brake booster" on my Ford paperwork. They replaced the brake booster and master cylinder for $858. Then on November 2020 they performed a recall to install a new master cylinder under the open recall and after much arguing they refunded my prior $858 charge. On August 8, 2021 in less than 9 months and just under 9000 miles later the newly installed master cylinder failed while I was driving down a mountain road. I had my family of 4 in the truck and we lost all brakes. This time there were NO WARNING LIGHTS, we just lost the ability to stop the truck while going down the mountain. The vehicle was towed to the dealership but the brake fluid reservoir was 100% empty and the dealership will diagnose the issue in the next 24-48 hours. This is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and I do NOT feel comfortable driving the truck.
Exhaust manifolds have warped on both sides of the engine. The bolt holding the exhaust manifold has broken and caused an exhaust leak.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start while turning the ignition switch. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission range sensor was faulty, and the lead frame assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 124,950.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, unattended the vehicle caught fire without warning. The contact was able to extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. The contact called the local dealer but, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 119,925.
Manifold leak.
On 7/30/2021, I was driving and the truck shut off. If another vehicle would have been behind me, it would have hit the rear end of my vehicle. This occurred twice within minutes apart. I have not taken it to a dealer but plan to tomorrow or Monday. The warning lamps that said service advancetrack, see manual with a wrench symbol, with an oil symbol and a temperature symbol under it in red, hill assist mode. The same thing occurred on 7/29/2021 twice as I was leaving work. I was going less than 15 mph. The engine coolant and over temperature also displayed.
Automatic transmission would suddenly downshift from a high gear, slamming into first gear abruptly slowing the vehicle down without warning. It felt like I was in an accident. I was so startled , I didn't know if I had hit something or if I had been hit in the rear end. On another occasion the rear end locked up and caused the tires to chirp. The vehicle only had 38,374 miles on it. I found a Ford training bulletin (TSB 15-0142 & TSB 16-0015) on 2015-2016 F150's with transmission issues. On 07/28/21 I took the vehicle to Jarrett Ford and they performed a transmission update 16-0015 on the vehicle, R/O Number 623834/1, but the problem was not resolved. On 08/23/21 I took the vehicle back to Jarrett Ford and they had to completely rebuild the transmission R/O Number 624682/2.
