MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2015 F150 ON A LOCAL STREET AND WANTED TO TURN OFF THE RADIO SO SHE COULD SPEAK WITH ME. SHE ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE START/STOP BUTTON AND THE ENGINE SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. WE WERE DOING 35 MPH AT THE TIME AND THE TRUCK WAS IN "DRIVE." WE MANAGED TO WRESTLE THE TRUCK TO A STOP, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART WITH NO PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. I TESTED IT LATER IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IN A "PUSH BUTTON START/STOP" YOU SHOULD EVER BE ABLE TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE IN MOTION AND IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP MAINTENANCE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS "NORMAL."
I'VE HAD MY TRUCK FOR JUST UNDER 2 YEARS AND 42,000 AND THE FUEL PUMP, RELAY AND MODULAR WENT OUT. FORD IS NOT COVERING THIS UNDER WARRANTY. ONE OF THESE ITEMS IS ON BACK ORDER. SO I FEEL THAT THIS MAYBE A FAULTY PART. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO LOOK INTO THIS. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR JUST STALLED IN A PARKING LOT. WHAT IF I WAS ON A HIGHWAY I COULD HAVE GOTTEN REAR ENDED AND KILLED. PLEASE HOLD FORD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE. I ALSO DONT WANT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THIS EITHER.
TAIL GATE LATCH FAILS TO LATCH IN WEATHER 20 DEGREES OR LOWER. CAUSING TAIL GATE TO DROP UNEXPENTLY WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE LATCH TO BRAKE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR BECAME AJAR. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO IPSWICH FORD (105 COUNTY RD, IPSWICH, MA 01938, (978) 356-6850) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V652000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TRUCK HAS LED TAIL LIGHTS WHICH PRODUCE POOR ILLUMINATION ESPECIALLY IN REDUCED VISIBILITY DRIVING CONDITIONS. OTHER DRIVERS REPORT THEY CAN BARELY SEE MY TRUCK WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN OR SNOW. BRAKE/TURN LIGHTS ARE FINE, IT IS JUST THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS THAT ARE A SAFETY ISSUE.
DOORS WILL NOT LATCH WHEN IT GETS COLD OUT. 10 DEGREES OR LOWER.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH THE TRUCK SHUTTERED VIOLENTLY AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. IMMEDIATELY IT FLASHED A WARNING THAT THE "HILL CLIMB ASSIST" MALFUNCTIONED FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A WRENCH SYMBOL NOTIFYING THAT SERVICE WAS NEEDED THEN ANOTHER WARNING ABOUT THE ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM THEN BACK TO THE HILL CLIMB ASSIST SYMBOL. ALL OF THIS HAPPENING WHILE THE CAR BEHIND ME IS ALMOST SIDEWAYS TRYING TO AVOID ME. I EVENTUALLY MADE IT TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. AS I READ THE VARIOUS WARNINGS IT SAID TO REFER TO THE OWNERS MANUAL WITH REGARDS TO THE HILL CLIMB ASSIST. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, PULLED OUT THE OWNERS MANUAL ONLY TO FIND A DESCRIPTION OF THE HILL CLIMB ASSIST FEATURE. AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES I DECIDED TO TURN ON THE IGNITION. THE TRUCK STARTED WITHOUT ISSUE AND I CONTINUED HOME CAUTIOUSLY IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE.
AT 80MPH PLUS THE WHOLE CAB SHAKES VIOLENTLY.
AT TEMPERATURES OF 20F-22F WINDSHIELD WIPER PUMP LOSES PRESSURE AND CAN NOT PUMP WIPER FLUID. DEALERSHIP BRINGS TRUCK INSIDE, WARMS TRUCK AND CLAIMS IT WAS FROZEN AND NOW IT WORKS. AFTER DRIVING 15 MINUTES IN 20F-22F PUMP INITIALLY WORKED THEN STARTED TO LOSE PRESSURE AGAIN, RESULTING IN FAILURE TO PUMP WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID. YOU COULD SEE THE PUMP PUMPING LESS AND LESS AS YOU DRIVE. THIS CAUSES A CONDITION WHERE IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT THE WINDOW AND VISION IS IMPAIRED. ALSO USING PREMIUM DEICER WASHER FLUID, NOT STANDARD WIPER FLUID, (RAIN-X DEICER) THAT HAS A TENDENCY TO FREEZE IN THE NORTH EAST DURING WINTER.
WHILE TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT 60 MPH (POSTED HIGHWAY PEED LIMIT) THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWN-SHIFTED TO A MUCH LOWER GEAR (1ST OR 2ND?), CAUSING ENGINE RPMS TO DRAMATICALLY INCREASE. I RESPONDED TO THE UNINTENDED CONDITION BY TAKING SUDDEN DRAMATIC BRAKING ACTION. THIS RESOLVED THIS INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS, 3 MONTHS OLD WITH SLIGHTLY OVER 22,000 MILES, AND IS SCHEDULED FOR THE DEALER TO CONDUCT A "TRANSMISSION CODE REVIEW" ON 01/10/18.
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT OPERATE WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING. DOOR WILL OPEN WHILE DRIVING IF THE TEMP THAWS THE DOOR. BROUGHT TO THE DEALER OVER 3 TIMES. APPARENTLY THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT MY PARTICULAR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IT PROBABLY SHOULD BE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AT LOW SPEEDS AROUND 5 MPH, A METAL TO METAL RUBBING NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRIGHTON FORD (190 WEST BROMLEY LANE, BRIGHTON, CO 80601, (303) 800-3235) WHERE THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DUPLICATED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL AND THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND WAS UNCONTROLLABLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO 30 MPH. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER ROWE WESTBROOK (91 MAIN ST, WESTBROOK, ME 04092, (207) 854-2555) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SWAY BAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,856.
AFTER ABOUT 35,000 MILES I STARTED NOTICING A VIBRATION WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. TOOK TO A FORD DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS FINE. TOOK TO CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ONE MONTH LATER AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED. 80% OF MY DRIVING IS INTERSTATE TRAVEL WITH VERY LITTLE STOP AND GO. I ALSO DO NOT DRIVE AROUND WITH ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE ALL THE TIME. THEREFORE MY GUESS IS THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY A DESIGN PROBLEM OF SOME SORT. ROTOR SHOULD OBVIOUSLY LAST MUCH LONGER.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IT STALLED IN MIDDLE OF STREET IN TRAFFIC. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. PUSHED TRUCK TO SIDE OF ROAD. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. HAS BAD FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE AND FUEL PUMP NOT WORKING PROPERLY. TRUCK HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT. FORD HAS ALREADY RECALLED 91,000 VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE BUT NOT INCLUDE THE F-150.
ON MOST OCCASIONS WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW FREEZING, WINDSHIELD WASHER SOLVENT DOESN'T WORK TO CLEAR WINDSHIELD OF ICE AND SALT BUILDUP, CREATING LITTLE TO NO VISIBILITY. IT SPORADICALLY FUNCTIONS BETWEEN +25 TO +32 DEGREES AND RARELY EVER BELOW +25 DEGREES. USING WINTER BLENDED WASHER SOLVENT -25 DEGREES. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE FIX IS TO REPLACE A RUBBER WASHER FLUID SUPPLY LINE. APPARENTLY, THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE HOSE. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED TO CORRECT THESE DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.
IN COLD WEATHER 1 OR MORE OF THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK ELECTRICALLY. BEEN A PROBLEM FOR 2 YEARS NOW. DEALER HAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.
44,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND THE EPAS IS GOING OUT! $1800 REPAIR NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY! NEAR MISS COLLISION DUE TO POWER STEERING WORKING AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING NO POWER ASSIST WHILE DRIVING. DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE TRUCK GOING STRAIGHT DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHILE IT IS ACTING UP INTERMITTENT.
DOOR LATCHES ARE FREEZING UP, EVEN AFTER THE RECALL "FIX" OF A WATER DIVERSION SHIELD. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO TRY TO HAVE IT PROPERLY FIXED AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AS, THE PARTS WE ALREADY INSTALLED. IT HAS BEEN FREEZING UP EVERY TIME IT'S BELOW 32 AND I AM UNABLE TO GET INTO THE BACK SEAT WITHOUT CRAWLING THROUGH THE FRONT AND MANUALLY UNLOCKING FROM WITHIN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY FACTOR IF THERE WERE TO BE AN ACCIDENT AND ONE OF MY KIDS WAS TRAPPED IN THE BACK, AMONG OTHER ISSUES OF INCONVENIENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 FORD F-150. AFTER 15 MINUTES OF BEING PARKED IN A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AROUND THE FRONT END. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
MY TRUCK ODOMETER SHOWS I HAVE 26582 MILES ON THE TRUCK. AND THE ENGINE HOURS SHOWS I HAVE 867 HOURS. HOWEVER RUSTY WALLACE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID I HAVE 63000 MILES ACCORDING TO THE PCM!!! I HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE TRUCK UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTENT THAT THE TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY I HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO THE ODOMETER. I HAVE PICTURES THAT SHOW I WAS DOING 72 MILES A HOUR AND ON THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER BUT THE OTHER SPEEDOMETER SHOWED I WAS DOING 90 MILES A HOUR. I PARKED THE TRUCK AND IT STILLED SHOWED I WAS DOING 20 MPH. I HAVE ATTACHED THE PHOTOS.
DOORS WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED WHEN TEMPERATURES DROP BELOW FREEZING. I HAD MY VEHICLE BROUGHT INTO THE DEALER EARLIER THIS YEAR TO REPLACE THE LATCHES AND INSTALL THE DOOR GUTTER. TODAY WAS THE FIRST FROST SINCE THAT WORK WAS COMPLETED AND THE DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE ONCE AGAIN. FORDS FIX TO THIS ISSUE DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN AGAIN SO THEY CAN REPLACE THE LATCHES AGAIN. I ATTEMPTED TO CALL FORD TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THEIR FIX IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX. THIS MORNING MY DOOR FLUNG OPEN GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. WHILE I DID NOT FALL OUT I SUSPECT IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME AND FORD NEEDS TO FIND A REAL FIX TO THIS PROBLEM RATHER THAN WASTE TIME ON A SOLUTION THAT HAS PROVEN ITSELF NOT TO FIX THE ISSUE.
I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL 17V-652 FROM FORD FOR AN ISSUE WITH DOOR LATCHES. IN THE RECALL NOTICE THEY STATE IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR TO CALL THE DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED IMMEDIATELY. MY DOOR HAS SWUNG OPEN TWICE WHILE DRIVING BOTH TIMES WITH MY SONS IN THE FRONT SEAT. MOST RECENTLY THIS MORNING. I CALLED THE DEALER NORTH COUNTRY FORD IN COON RAPIDS MN AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART TO FIX IT. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY SAID TO CALL THE DEALER. TRUCK IS NOT USEABLE IN THE WINTER AS IS. TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE FALLS BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT UNLOCK ELECTRICALLY OR MANUALLY. THE BACK DOORS HAVE BEEN OPENED MANUALLY AFTER CLIMBING OVER THE CONSOLE INTO THE BACK SEAT AND USING INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BUT THEN HAVE NOT LATCHED FULLY WHEN CLOSING ALLOWING DOOR TO COME OPEN UPON DRIVING. I CLIMBED OVER THE CONSOLE TO OPEN THE BACK DOOR THIS MORNING AND IT WOULDN'T OPEN MANUALLY TRAPPING ME IN THE BACK SEAT AT BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURE BECAUSE I COULD NOT CLIMB BACK OVER THE FRONT SEATS. THIS ISSUE WAS FIRST FILED WITH NHTSA 12/30/2016. DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN MARCH 2017 BUT IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN. I HAVE HAD TO TIE A ROPE FROM HANDLE TO HANDLE IN THE BACK SEAT TO KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED. CAN NOT SAFELY PUT CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT FOR FEAR OF THEM FALLING OUT. THIS TRUCK SHOULD BE RED FLAGGED UNTIL SAFE TO OPERATE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS FAILED TO FIX THIS TSB 15-0052 AND TSB 16-0155 PROPERLY AND SAFELY. THE VEHICLE IS USUALLY PARKED IN DRIVEWAY WHEN THE DOOR LOCKS ARE FROZEN BUT HAS ONE TIME BEEN IN MOTION WITH THE BACK DOORS NOT LATCHED FULLY CAUSING THEM TO COME OPEN DRIVING AROUND CORNERS BEFORE I TIED THE DOORS TOGETHER. *JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. JOE MYERS FORD (16634 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77040, PHONE: (713) 766-3600) AND AUTONATION FORD KATY (20777 KATY FWY, KATY, TX 77450 (281) 305-8949) CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I NOTICED A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK. I COULD ALSO FEEL THE GRINDING THOUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR RACK/PINION. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO FORD AND THEY DECLINED TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR COST AND DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM.
I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT SAFETY CONCERN ON FORD F-150 INTAKE THROTTLE FAILURES. I BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PART FOR A DIFFERENT S/N RANGE OF FORD F-150. THIS VIN WAS NOT IN THE LIST. WHEN THIS FAILS, YOU LOSE ALL POWER AND TRUCK GOES INTO NEUTRAL. WAS TOWING LOADED TRAILER IN 4 LANES OF HIGH SPEED INTERSTATE CITY DRIVING. ALMOST WAS IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DID NOTHING OR INDICATE THAT THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK AT S/N RANGE IMPACTED. I AM A CHIEF ENGINEER AT CATERPILLAR. I UNDERSTAND THE BUSINESS OF EFFECTIVE S/N AND WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MANDATORY RECALLS. THEIR LACK OF ACTION IS A CONCERN.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILS TO REMAIN LATCHED AFTER CLOSURE. AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR (AND THE VEHICLE REGISTERING THE DOOR AS CLOSED), I BEGAN DRIVING AND LEANED AGAINST THE DOOR. A SHORT DISTANCE LATER, THE DOOR UNLATCHED ITSELF AND OPENED. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND OPEN/SHUT THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES (AND LOCK/UNLOCK THE LOCKS) TO GET IT TO LATCH PROPERLY. FORD HAS ISSUED THEIR OWN NOTICE OFFERING A VOLUNTARY DOOR LATCH INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT; HOWEVER DUE TO THE POTENTIAL DANGER THE SELF-OPENING DOOR PLACED ME IN- THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL FOR ALL FORDS WITH THIS TYPE OF LATCHING MECHANISM ON THEIR DOORS. I WAS ON A ROAD WITH A 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED AND WAS BUCKED-UP (LUCKILY).
WHILE DRIVING MY 2015 FORD F-150 PICKUP TRUCK AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS OF 5 TO 70 MPH THE VEHICLES THROTTLE BECOMES INOPERABLE. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN AT A LOW IDLE HOWEVER IT IS A VERY ROUGH IDLE AS IF THE ENGINE HAS A SEVERE IGNITION MISFIRE CONDITION. FURTHERMORE, THE DASH STARTS TO CYCLE THROUGH MULTIPLE FAULT/TROUBLE DISPLAYS. THESE INCLUDE "HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT", "SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK", "SEE MANUAL (W/ WRENCH SYMBOL)"; ALSO THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. WHEN THIS OCCURS I HAVE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY OR BUSY CITY STREET BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. ONCE STOPPED, WITH EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON, I HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. IN SOME INSTANCES I'VE HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE MORE THAN ONCE TO SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVE A SMOOTH RUNNING ENGINE. I MUST THEN PRESS THE "OK" BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO STOP THE DASH FROM DISPLAYING THE FAULT/TROUBLE MESSAGES. I CAN THEN DRIVE ON WITH AN OPERABLE THROTTLE AND PROPERLY RUNNING ENGINE. THIS CONDITION HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING AND PRESENTS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION!
MY ELECTRONIC STEERING IS OVERLY SENSITIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND MAKE CONTROLLING A TRAILER UNDER TOW VERY DIFFICULT. I AM ALSO HAVING ISSUES AFTER TURNING WITH THE STEERING NOT WANTING TO GO STRAIGHT AFTER THE TURN. I HAVE TO FIGHT THE WHEEL TO KEEP THE TRUCK GOING STRAIGHT. THE WHEEL REQUIRES A COUNTER STEER, BUT THERE IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE TO THAT COUNTER STEER. ONCE STEERING FIGURES OUT I WANT TO GO STRAIGHT THE WHEEL ENDS UP CANTED SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THIS WHILE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP USING A 2017 TEST TRUCK AS WELL. WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE FREEWAY FROM THE ON-RAMP, ALL THROTTLE CONTROL WENT AWAY AND THE TRUCK STARTED DECELERATING ALONG WITH WARNING LAMPS TURNING ON THE DRIVER DISPLAY PANEL. STEEP HILL DESCENT FAULT, SENSORTRAC FAULT. HAD TO PULL COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER UNDER ROUGH IDLE AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE IGNITION. AFTER CYCLING THE IGNITION, THE THROTTLE CONTROL CAME BACK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES NOW DURING THE LAST WEEK OR SO. AFTER A GOOGLE SEARCH ONLINE, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON OCCURANCE WITH FORD F-150'S AND SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CONTROLLER. I HAVE A 2015 F150 KING RANCH WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST. IT HAS 41,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL YESTERDAY MORNING AND TODAY AROUND LUNCH. THIS WAS FROM YESTERDAY 10/23/17: HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT SERVICE ADVANCETRAC HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE I WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY AND THE TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY, MOVING VERY SLOW WITH NO ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING WAS LOST, AND THE DASHBOARD WAS SHOWING ALL THE ABOVE ERRORS. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES COMING WHEN I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A PLACE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO IDLE ROUGH AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY. AND TODAY 10/24/17: I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK DID THE SAME THING AS YESTERDAY MORNING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF THE MOTOR. ONCE I RESTARTED THE ENGINE, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT WOULD BE DOING THIS AND HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM FORD OR SEEN THIS IN OTHER F150'S THEY HAVE SERVICED. UPDATE: THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THE FIX IS IN A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND THEY REPLACED IT AT A WHOPPING PRICE OF $770. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS FORD HAS ISSUES WITH ETB'S ACROSS VEHICLES OF ALL CLASSES AND KNOWS ABOUT IT. IN FACT, SOME CONSUMERS SEEM TO BE INVOLVED IN LAWSUITS AGAINST FORD BECAUSE OF THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS FATALLY INJURED. THESE WERE SCARY, SCARY SITUATIONS WITH MY VEHICLE AND THANK GOD MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE NOT WITH ME. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO CORRECT IT AT THEIR EXPENSE.
ON OCT 23, 2017 MY 2015 FORD F150 STEERING LOCKED WHILE DRIVING ON CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY 273. STOPPED TRUCK AND HAD TO FORCE STEERING WHEEL HARD TO THE RIGHT TO GET STEERING TO BREAK LOOSE. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL NUMBER 17V652 FORD RECALL NO 17S33 ABOUT DOOR LATCHES
ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2017, AFTER A NIGHT OF CAMPING WITH MY FAMILY, WE LOADED UP OUR CAMPING GEAR AND LEFT THE CAMPGROUNDS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE WINDING ROADS IN THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY A FEW MILES FROM OUR CAMPSITE MY TRUCK DISPLAYED THE WARRING THAT MY BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW. I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER AND CHECK MY BRAKE FLUID LEVEL HOWEVER MY BRAKES WERE GONE AND MY PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR. MY BRAKES SYSTEM EXPERIENCED A TOTAL FAILURE AND I HAD TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ROLL TO A STOP. AFTER I STOPPED I CHECKED MY BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR AND IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE TRUCK AND I HAVE DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE TO BE RELATED TO A FAILURE WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER. I CONTACTED A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THERE WAS NO ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE ISSUE THAT I WOULD NEED TO CONTACT THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER IF I WANTED TO SEEK ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. I CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND REPORTED THE ISSUE AND A CASE WAS OPENED FOR REVIEW; 2 DAYS LATER I RECEIVED AN AUTO-GENERATED EMAIL DENYING MY REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE SINCE I HAD EXCEEDED BY 3-YEAR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT NOT ENOUGH INJURIES OR FATALITIES RELATED TO THIS ISSUE HAVE ARISEN AND FORD IS NOT CURRENTLY COMMITTED TO FIXING THE ISSUE. ON THE ROADS, MY FAMILY AND I WERE ON WITH THE TIGHT TURNS AND NARROW LANES THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
IT HAS BEEN NEARLY NINE MONTHS SINCE FORD FIRST REPORTED A RECALL ON CERTAIN FORD F-150 TRUCKS RELATED TO FAULTY DOOR LATCHES. TO DATE, FORD HAS STILL NOT NOTIFIED EFFECTED OWNERS HOW OR WHERE THEY CAN HAVE THEIR VEHICLES REPAIRED. I ENCOURAGE THE NHTSA TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT FORD IS LIVING UP TO ITS OBLIGATIONS TO REPAIR THE DEFECT ON A TIMELY BASIS. LIVES ARE AT STAKE.

ACCORDING TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, FORD HAS NOT DISTRIBUTED THE APPROPRIATE PARTS TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS..... A FROZEN DOOR LATCH OR A BENT OR KINKED ACTUATION CABLE MAY RESULT IN A DOOR THAT WILL NOT OPEN OR WILL NOT CLOSE CONDITION. SHOULD A CUSTOMER BE ABLE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THESE CONDITIONS, THE DOOR MAY APPEAR CLOSED, BUT THE LATCH MAY NOT FULLY ENGAGE THE DOOR STRIKER AND THERE IS A POTENTIAL THE DOOR COULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING.
