BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGER'S DOORS ARE SHOWING STRESS CRACKS. CONSUMER FEELS IN AN ACCIDENT DOORS MAY NOT HOLD. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
I AM SUBMITTING A COMPLAINT IN THE HOPES THAT I WILL GET SOME ANSWERS. HAVING JUST COME OFF THE INTERSTATE 40 ONTO OUR 14 ACRES, BOTH AIR BAGS IN A VEHICLE WE OWNED EXACTLY 23 DAYS, DEPLOYED - DESTROYING THE CAB INTERIOR OF THE TRUCK. I PHONED THE MANUFACTURER IMMEDIATELY AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. TWO MONTHS LATER, FOLLOWING AN ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSIS OF THE VEHICLE, FORD INFORMED ME THAT THE SENSORS REGISTERED THREE CRASHES AND THAT IT LOOKED AS IF THE RIGHT FENDER HAD BEEN REPLACED, THE RADIATOR SUPPORT WAS STILL BROKEN AND THE HEADLAMPS AND GRILL WERE LOOSE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS AND I AM REQUESTING INFORMATION AS TO WHAT WOULD CAUSE AN AIR BAG TO DEPLOY UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. I AM NOT IMPLYING OR PLACING RESPONSIBILITY WHEN I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION, I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING UNUSED SINCE JULY 21ST AND I AM AFRAID TO PLACE MY FAMILY IN ANY FURTHER JEOPARDY BASED ON THE DAMAGE TO THE CONTROLS AND INTERIOR. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VERY HARD WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. IN JULY OF 2000 THE NEWSPAPER IN BECKLEY, WV , THE REGISTER-HERALD, RAN AN ARTICLE THAT NHTSA REPORTS THAT THE FORD F-SERIES SUPER DUTY TRUCK HAD PROBLEMS OF LOSING THEIR STEERING AND BRAKES. AND THEY COULD GO OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. THAT HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK. FORD DENIES KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE REPORT? ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 1999, F250, LT265/75R16SIZE. REAR TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED A SPLIT RESULTING IN AIR LOSS, CAUSING A BLOWOUT FROM SIDEWALL WHICH RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. *AK
ON JULY 18TH 2012 I WAS TAKING HOLLYWOOD BLVD TO GO TO THE STORES AND ALL THE SUDDEN THE TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND DINT' HIT ANYBODY. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOME. THEN A FEW DATES LATER WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER WERE THEY CHARGE US FOR CHECKING THE TRUCK AND THE MECHANIC FROM THE FORD DEALER AND OTHER PEOPLE I KNOW THAT HAS THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. AND THEY ALL TOLD ME THE SAME IT IS A MANUFACTURE ERROR AND IT IS SO AND SO BAD THAT THE PART IT IS IN BACK ORDER IS WORTH $600.00 DOLLARS MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHY WE THE PEOPLE THAT PURCHASE THESE VEHICLES BE RESPONSIBLE AND HAVE TO PAY FOR A PART THAT THE FORD MANUFACTURED MADE AN ERROR THEY SHOULD REPLACE THE PART AT NO COST TO US THE CUSTOMERS. WHILE DRIVING ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS ON DASH WENT OUT. CONSUMER WAS AFRAID TO SHUTOFF VEHICLE IN FEAR THAT VEHICLE MAY NOT START AGAIN. CONSUMER HAS ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT DEALER.*AK A FAULTY FUSE PANEL WAS DISCOVERED AND REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME WHICH CONTOLS THE COMPUTER AND INSTRUMENT PANEL IT WAS THE MAIN PANEL THAT CONTROLS ALLS THE OPERATING FUNCTIONS.*JB
TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A FORD, F250, 1999, TIRE SIZE LT26575R16, DOT NUMBER NOT AVAILABLE, AND TIRES HAVE OVER TWENTY-TWO THOUSAND MILE S ON THEM. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR ROUTINE INSPECTION WHEN MECHANIC NOTICED THAT FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE AND RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD DEVELOPED CRACKS ON THE EXTERIOR. CRACKS HAVE STARTED TWO INCHES FROM THE RIM. *AK FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND CRACKS ON ALL FOUR TIRES NEWAR THE RIM, DOT NUMBER EXBM14474-3. *SLC
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, THE VEHICLE JUMPS ALL AROUND, THEN VEHICLE WILL EVENTUALLY STOP, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS AND BRAKES, PROBLEM REOCCURRERD THIRTEEN MONTHS LATER. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE PAD AND ROTORS, BUT THEY FAILED AGAIN. *YH
CONSUMER HAS NOTICED THAT EXTERIOR MIRRORS THAT ARE USED FOR TOWING OF VEHICLE ARE NOT ADJUSTED CORRECTLY. MIRRORS ARE SUPPOSE TO SHOW REAR TIRES TO CURVE, NOT JUST REAR OF TIRES. PE 00 040/TIRE FAILURE: WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH WITH ONLY THE DRIVER IN A 1999, FORD, F250 SUPER DUTY; ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, TIRE SIZE LT265/75R16, DOT# VNW81XM019 HEARD A ROARING SOUND. PULLED VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED A LEFT REAR FLAT TIRE. TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE REPAIR SHOP, AND WAS INFORMED OF SEVERE CRACKING INSIDE SIDEWALL. FIRESTONE WAS NOTIFIED AND UNWILLING TO ASSIST.*AK CONSUMER MADE A SECOND CALL TO FIRESTONE AND AT THAT TIME, ALL 4 TIRES WERE REPLACED. *SLC
THREE TIRES HAVE TREAD SEPARATION AS STATED BY DEALERSHIP. FIRESTONE SAYS "BULL" BUT, WILL REPLACE AT A PRORATE WHICH IS BASICALLY I MUST PAY FULL PRICE TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE TIRES WITH A LOT OF TREAD LEFT ON THEM. I CALLED FIRESTONE CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY TOLD ME TO GO JUMP IN THE LAKE. *AK (DOT NUMBER: 008062 TIRESIZE: LT26575R16)
THE RIGHT AND LEFT BALL JOINTS BEGAN FREEZING LAST SUMMER. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO WANDER AND IT BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO KEEP IT IN MY LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM CAME ON SLOWLY BUT WAS FIRST NOTED BY ME LAST SUMMER. THIS SUMMER IT GOT TO THE POINT THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE ATTEMPTING TO GET THE WHEELS TO MOVE SLIGHTLY RESULTED IN TOO MUCH MOVEMENT LEADING TO CONSTANT ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE OVER-CORRECTION. THE DEALER READILY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS FROZEN BALL JOINTS AND REQUIRED THAT I PAY FOR THE REPAIRS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE PROBLEM BEGAN WELL BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. A DEALERSHIP EMPLOYEE INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE REPLACING MANY OF THESE PARTS UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO PREMATURE FAILURE. THE ORIGINAL PART DID NOT HAVE ANY PROVISION TO LUBRICATE THE JOINT. THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS A FITTING TO LUBRICATE IT. OBVIOUSLY FORD MADE A DESIGN CHANGE IN THIS PART AND ARE NOT TELLING OWNERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. AT NEARLY $1000.00 TO REPAIR IT, SOME OWNERS MAY CHOOSE TO DELAY OR FORGO REPLACEMENT AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK WHEN IT IS UNSAFE TO DO SO. AS A RULE, BALL JOINTS SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO GO DOUBLE THE MILEAGE AT WHICH MINE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. MY CALLS TO FORD RESULTED IN NO ADMISSION OF FAULT ON THEIR PART. THE STEERING ON THE TRUCK WAS SO BAD THAT NEITHER MY WIFE OR I FELT THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.*AK
FORD F250 1999, TRUCK AND GARAGE COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. *BF THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FIRE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. *JB
TIRES REMOVED FROM VEHICLE AND REPLACED DO TO SAFETY CONCERNS ABOUT TIRES FAILING DO TO TREAD SEPARATION ON SIMILAR VEHICLES. TIRES SHOW DRY ROTTING OF WHITE LETTERS. MY TRUCK WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT. MENTION WAS MADE BY THE DRIVER THAT THE STEERING COLUMN SEEMED TO GO OUT. I IGNORED HIS COMMENTS AND SIMPLY ASSUMED THAT HE WAS DRIVING TOO FAST AND LOST CONTROL. ON MAY 11, 2001 I READ AN ARTICLE IN THE KANSAS CITY STAR THAT INDICATED YOUR AGENCY WAS OPENING AN INVESTIGATION INTO "FRACTURES IN THE STEERING GEAR SHAFT OF FORD F-SERIES SUPER DUTY TRUCKS. I FAXED THE ARTICLE TO THE SHOP REPAIRING MY TRUCK. HENRY MILLS, MILLS AUTOMOTIVE, MARSHALL, MISSOURI, INSPECTED THE VECHICLE, CALLED ME BACK ALMOST IMMEDIATELY INFORMING THAT THIS SECTOR HAD BROKE ON MY TRUCK. HE CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHO I UNDERSTAND WENT AND LOOKED AT THE VECHILE AND INFORMED MR. MILLS THAT FORD HAD NOT ISSUED ANY BULLETINS ON THE PROBLEM AND COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT AT THIS TIME. I DECIDED I SHOULD BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION. PLEASE KEEP ME INFORMED OF YOUR FINDINGS.I*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ENGINE STALLED. CONSUMER NOTICED A LOSS OF POWER AND FUEL USAGE PRIOR TO THIS STALLING. DEALERSHIP REPLACED 2 ELECTRONIC SENSORS. THEN A FEW DAYS LATER, ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. DEALERSHIP HAS VEHICLE, AND HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF DEFECT. *AK

WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET ON 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE AND THEN THE TIRE THREAD CAP BLEW OFF THE TRUCK DAMAGING RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE FENDER BRACE, MUFFLER, FENDER WELL SKIRTING, AND PAINT. ON FEBRUAARY 3, 2001 MY WIFE WAS PULLING INTO THE CUSTOMER PICKUP AREA OF SEARS IN AMARILLO, TEXAS AS SHE PULLED UP TO THE PICKUP AREA AND REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND OUR PICKUP TRUCK RAMMED THE BACKEND OF ANOTHER PICKUP TRUCK IN FROM HER. SHE SHIFTED TO REVERS, THE ENGINE STILL RUNNING AT A RAPID SPEED, TO BACK AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE THAT SHE HAD RAMMED. SINCE THE ENGINE WS RUNNING AT A HIGH SPEED, OUR VEHICLE RACED BACKWARD. IN ORDER TO KEEP FROM BACKING TNTO SOMEONE BEHINDHER, SHE THEN SHIFTED INTO FORWARD GEAR AND RAMMED THE PICKUP IN FRONT OF HER AGAIN. ALL OF THIS TIME THE REAR TIRES WERE SPINNING AND SMOKING. AFTER SHE RAMMED THE PICKUP THE SECOND TIME, SHE TURNED THE IGNITION OFF TO STOP THE CRAZY SITUATION. HAD SHE KNOWN, OF COURSE, THAT THE THROTTLE WAS GOING TO STAY ENGAGED AT HIGH SPEED, SHE WOULD HAVE KILLED THE ENGINE EARLIER. THE COMBINATION OF ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND AN UNCONTROLLABLE THROTTLE IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTOR.
TRANSMISSION SEAL FAILED, AND TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
ON JANUARY 30, 2001 OUR VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ONE CAR COLLISION WITH A BRIDGE OVERPASS CAUSING A TOTAL LOSS TO OUR TRUCK. THIS WAS MAINLY A FRONT IMPACT WITH COLLATORAL DAMAGE TO THE REST OF THE TRUCK. MY WIFE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, OUR SON WAS IN A REAR SEAT AND ALL WERE WEARING OUR SEATBELTS. LUCKILY FOR US THE SEATBELTS DID THEIR JOB AND OUR ONLY INJURIES WERE RELATED TO THE SEAT BELTS HOLDING US IN PLACE. ALTHOUGH THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED AS THEY SHOULD HAVE. SINCE THERE WERE NOT SERIOUS INJURIES WE WERE NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. MY NAGGING CONCERN WAS WHAT IF WE HAD NEEDED THEM? THAT IS WHY I'VE DECIDED TO REPORT AT THIS TIME PLUS WE RECEIVED NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM FORD THAT THEY ARE ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU.
66,400 MILES AND MY ENGINE IS BLOWN AT A COST OF $4,800.00, UNACCEPTABLE RESULTS FROM AN AUTO THAT IS'NT SUPPOSED TO BE TUNED UP, UNTIL 100,000 MILES. ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE WAS DONE.*AK

DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE WITH 70 DEGREE WEATHER, RIGHT REAR TIRE FAILED.CONSUMER LOOKED IN REAR VIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED SMOKE AND PIECES FLYING. PULLED OVER TO SIDE, AND NOTICED ABOUT 4-6 INCHES OF SIDEWALL LEFT ON EACH SIDE OF WHEEL. PRIOR TO INCIDENT, TIRE HAD GOOD AMOUNT OF TREAD, WAS NOT WORN OUT. *AK GOODYEAR WRANGLER RTS TIRES. *SLC

VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION OF 25-30 MPH, AND BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. DRIVER REPORTED NECK/ARM AND SHOULDER INJURIES. *AK
ORIGINAL BUSHINGS ON FORK WERE PLASTIC. FORD HAS SINCE CHANGED THESE TO ANOTHER MATERIAL. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERS MECHANIC THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE. I'VE CONTACTED FORD MOTORS AND THEY HAVE FAILED TO RETURN MY CALLS. I'VE ASKED FOR FINANCIAL REIMBURSMENT FOR THIS REPAIR. AGAIN NO CONTACT HAS BEEN MADE. CAN YOU HELP ME GET SOME RESULTS? ON 7/12/2000 I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF SEVERE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING FROM HIGHWAY SPEED. AT THAT TIME THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS BECAUSE THEY WERE WARPED. NOW 6 MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM HAS RE-OCCURRED. GIVEN THE INFORMATION I HAVE FOUND ON THE INTERNET REGARDING SIMULAR PROBLEMS FROM OTHER OWNERS, IT CAN ONLY BE CONCLUDED THAT THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. HOWEVER, AT THIS TIME, BOTH THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER REFUSE TO ADEQUATELY ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. *AK

TOW OF TIRE IS SHOWING SOME CRACKS IN SIDEWALLS. *AK CONSUMER STATES HE DROVE TRUCK TO FLORIDA AND UPON CLEANING TRUCK HE NOTICED CRACKING WAS SERIOUSLY WORSE, CONSUMER CONTACTED FIRESTONE AND THEY REPLACED TIRE FREE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MOUNTING AND BALANCING. *JB

ALL 5 GOODYEAR WARNGLER AP TIRES AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON TRUCK WERE DEFECTIVE WITH BULGES ON SIDEWALLS. BITTERROOT FORD REP DENIED THAT TIRES HAD ANY DEFECTS AND WOULD HAVE "PUT THEM ON HIS WIFE'S CAR" AND IN FACT SAID THAT THEY HAD THE EXACT SAME MODEL TIRES IN THEIR INVENTORY WITH THE SAME BULGES ON THE SIDEWALLS, BUT FOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM AND HE REFUSED TO GIVE US GOODYEAR PHONE NUMBER. HOWEVER, WE DID GET THE GOODYEAR PHONE NUMBER FROM OTHER SOURCES AND CALLED GOODYEAR TIRE DIRECT WHO HAD US GO DIRECTLY TO THEIR GOODYEAR TIRE DEALER IN POLSON, MONTANA, WHO EXAMINED ALL 5 TIRES WHICH INCLUDED THE SPARE (WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN ON THE GROUND) AND VERIFIED THAT ALL 5 TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE WITH BULGES ON THE SIDEWALLS. HE THEN DIRECTLY INFORMED GOODYEAR TIRE AND THEY IMMEDIATELY AUTHORIZED HIM TO REPLACE WITHNO PRO-RATE REDUCTION ALL 5 OF THE GOODYEAR WRANGLER AP TIRES WITH ANOTHER MODEL THEIR TIRES.
