TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. NO FURTHER DETAILS WERE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
I PURCHASED MY 2011 FORD FIESTA IN AUGUST 2014 WITH 45,000 MILES ON IT. CAR RAN FINE FOR A WEEK THEN I NOTICED WHEN THE AC IS ON THE CAR JERKS WHEN I ACCELERATE. IT ALSO DOES IT DAILY WHEN I DRIVE SPEEDS UNDER 30 MPH. THE CAR STALLED OUT AS I PULLED OUT LEAVING WAL-MART AND THANK GOD IT WAS DURING THE DAY WHEN EVERYONE IS AT WORK AND THAT THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC!! THIS CAR MAKES ME NERVOUS DRIVING IT A DISTANCE LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES AND NO CAR SHOULD FEEL THAT UNSAFE. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER THIS MORNING REPORTING OF CONSTANT JERKING AND HESITATION WHILE I AM DRIVING AND FEELING THE GEARS GRINDING WHEN I BRAKE. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW CLUTCH AND THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AND THAT SINCE THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER IT WOULD TAKE MINIMUM 2 WEEKS TO GET IN!. HOW THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I HAVE READ COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST WINTER I TURNED LEFT FROM MY DRIVEWAY. AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE BRIEFLY SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. THE VEHICLE IS CONTROLLED BY AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, BUT SLIPPED FROM GEAR, LEAVING ME IN THE ROAD, UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. MY TRANSMISSION HAS ALSO FAILED SEVERAL TIMES AT RED LIGHTS. I WILL STEP ON THE GAS, AND THERE ARE SEVERAL SECONDS OF HESITATION, WHERE MY VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE. THEN IT LURCHES FORWARD. FORD HAS SENT A LETTER EXPLAINING THERE HAVE BEEN DEFECTS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, BUT I HAVE CALLED 3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS IT OCCURS DURING A TEST DRIVE BY THEIR TECHNICIANS. IF THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR DURING THEIR TEST DRIVE THEY WILL CHARGE ME OVER $100 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN TO FORD, YET THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT ENOUGH THAT I CAN BRING IT IN, KNOWING THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR ON THAT PARTICULAR TEST DRIVE. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE ROAD, DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM HAS ALSO CAUSED OTHER ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. MY O2 SENSOR AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WORE OUT PREMATURELY.
CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN IN SNOW. IF TRYING TO START FROM A COMPLETE STOP IN 1" OF SNOW, THE TRACTION CONTROL WILL CUT POWER TO THE WHEELS, LEAVING YOU STUCK IN PLACE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN LEAVE THE DRIVER STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AS HAPPENED TO ME TODAY. FORD HAS SINCE ADDED A WAY TO DISABLE THE TRACTION CONTROL, BUT THIS MODEL YEAR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN THE SNOW. *TR
I WAS AT A STOP SIGN WHEN MY CAR JERKED TO THE FRONT AND ALMOST STRIKE A PEDESTRIAN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON ON AUGUST 21, 2014 WHEN MY CAR SEEMED TO LOSE THROTTLE. I HAD NOTICED IT WAS SLUGGISH TO PICK UP SPEED AROUND 5 MILES BEFORE. IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE CAR LOST THROTTLE, AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AN AUDIBLE ALERT WAS MADE, AND THEN MOST OF THE SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OVER IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS, AND ONCE I WAS PARKED I COULD SEE FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HOOD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AT THAT POINT, GOT OUT, AND CALLED 911. UNFORTUNATELY THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY ENGAGED BY THE TIME THE FIRE CREW ARRIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP LIGHT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. HAD NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR PEDDLE. WOULD NOT GO. WAS ABLE TO ROLL INTO A PARKING LOT. AFTER SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT RAN FINE. CONTINUED 1-2 MILES AND CONDITION OCCURRED AGAIN. HAD TO RESTART IN THE ROAD TO CONTINUE HOME. RAN FINE TO WORK AND BACK THE NEXT DAY. THEN, ON HIGHWAY WHILE GOING 65-70 STARTED TO LOSE SPEED AND HAD NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR PEDDLE. CAME TO A ROLLING STOP UNABLE TO GO. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT . TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP TO LEARN THAT A THROTTLE BODY IS NEEDED AT A COST OF $1000.00. THIS IS NOW SITTING IN THE DRIVE AS WE CANT AFFORD THE $1000.00. BIG SAFETY ISSUE AS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND GET OFF OF ROAD AT UNEXPECTED TIMES. *TR
VEHICLE HAD A ROUGH IDOL AND STALLING AT SLOW SPEEDS. TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP, CLEANED AIRFLOW SENSOR AND CHANGED AN AFTERMARKET K&N FILTER (THOUGHT IT WAS OIL FROM FILTER ONTO SENSOR). VEHICLE DID NOT IMPROVE, ACTUALLY WORSENED TO A POINT THAT STALLS UPON DECELERATION. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSED THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DID NOT REPLACE, STALL WORSENED AND RPM STICK AT HIGHER RPM ON TWO OCCASIONS. CAR PARKED UNTIL SOLUTION CAN BE FOUND. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING, KEYLESS REMOTE STOPPED WORKING, ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING, TRIPOMETER STOPPED WORKING. TOOK IT TO THE FACTORY AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED, BECAUSE IT WAS 2 WEEKS OUT OF 3 YEAR BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. ALL OF THESE ARE SUPPOSEDLY THE RESULT OF A BAD SPEED SENSOR BETWEEN THE AXLE AND THE TRANSMISSION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
THE ENGINE STALLED THE FIRST TIME TWO DAYS AGO ON 9/27/2013. THE CAR SHUT OFF ON THE ROAD AND I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR. ALSO IT SHAKES WHEN YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THIS HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED. YESTERDAY WHILE I WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE THE CAR STALLED SO BAD THAT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL TO GO OVER THE BRIDGE, THE RPM GAUGE WIGGLED VERY BAD BACK AND FORTH AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLIDE BACK DOWN THE BRIDGE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO FORD AND THEY CLAIM THIS IS HOW THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO ACT. I LIVE IN JACKSONVILLE, FL AND BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN GETTING ON AND OFF RAMPS ONTO THE INTERSTATE IS CRUCIAL WHEN MERGING WITH TRAFFIC BUT IF THE CAR STALLS AND DOES NOT ACTUALLY MOVE AND YOU ARE TRYING TO YIELD AND MERGE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC, ANYONE CAN SEE THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD AND VERY DANGEROUS. MY NEXT STEP IS TO FILE A LEMON LAW LAWSUIT AND GET FORD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THEY WILL ARE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHILE IT IS IN THEIR REPAIR SHOP AND THEREFORE WILL NOT FIX IT. MY BEST FRIEND HAS THE SAME CAR AND COMPLAINS ABOUT THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. HER CAR SHUTS OFF SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK SO SHE IS GOING TO ALSO FILE A COMPLAINT. BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS CAR I HAD A OLD BEAT UP 1995 FORD RANGER AND I NEVER HAD THESE ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN TO FORD OVER 3 TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY CONTINUE TO SAY "SIR THIS IS HOW THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO ACT" EVEN THE RECEPTIONIST STATED WHEN I CALLED TO SET UP YET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO HAVE FORD LOOK AT THE CAR "WOW... THAT DOES SEEM VERY DANGEROUS WE NEED TO GET YOU IN HERE ASAP" THIS IS NOT THE ONLY INCIDENT I HAVE HAD WITH FORD.. I WILL NOT EVEN STRESS ON THAT ISSUE. THIS IS A 2011 FORD FIESTA WAS ON THE FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO CHANGE LANES AND EXIT THE FREEWAY, THE CAR LOST POWER AND IT LITERALLY FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE IN USE. SINCE (I ASSUME) THE BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT GO ON, I NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH A TRUCK THAT WAS BEHIND ME. I WAS FORTUNATE AND TRAFFIC THE TRAFFIC PATTERN ALLOWED ME TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE NEVER SHUT DOWN, AND WHILE SITTING ON THE BERM AND IDLING, THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN RESPONDED PROPERLY. I PUSHED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF BUTTON AND PROCEEDED WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEM, BUT HAVE NOT USED THE CRUISE CONTROL SINCE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TO KLABAN FORD SERVICE IN KENT OHIO THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT. IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP ON MAY 22 AND I DO NOT YET KNOW THE RESULT. I WAS TOLD THEY WILL TRY TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MERGE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT PRODUCED A VIOLENT JERK WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,281.

AFTER SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING COMPLETELY, WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED, THERE IS A HESITATION...ALMOST FEELS LIKE AIR IN THE GAS LINE...IT CUTS OUT AND THEN JERKS AS IT TAKES OFF. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT UP TO NOW, BUT SINCE I'VE NOTICED IT AT THE BEGINNING, I HAVE MADE SURE IT WAS SAFE TO PULL OUT. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHAT THEY CALL "ECO-BOOST" BUT, IT SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS TO ME. I PURCHASED THIS CAR 05/13/2011 AND ONLY HAVE 10,500 MILES ON IT BECAUSE I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. *TR
