TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THERE WAS A DELAYED RESPONSE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MARCH OF 2013 FROM THE FIRST WEEK I OWNED THE CAR I HAVE COMPLAINED THAT THE CAR: SHUDDERS AND GURGLES AT TAKE OFF WITH NO POWER WHAT SO EVER, GOING UP A STEEP HILL HAS NO POWER AT ALL THE CAR GURGLES AND THEN ONCE IT CATCHES THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD VERY FAST, WHEN BREAKING THERE IS A LOUD NOISE AND THE CAR SHUDDER, THE RPMS REV HIGH AT TAKE OFF. 1ST APPOINTMENT I WAS TOLD IT WAS A NEW TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND IT HAD TO LEARN THE WAY I DEPRESS THE GAS. 2ND, 3RD, 4TH APPOINTMENT SAME THING....5TH APPOINTMENTCLUTCH RESET TO RE-LEARN THE SHIFTING PATTERNS.....6TH APPOINTMENT - CLUTCH REPLACED. CALLED TO ASK WHAT TO DO BECAUSE ITS NOT FIXED. I WAS ADVISED TO CALL FORD CUSTOMER CARE THAT MAYBE THEY WOULD GIVE ME A LOANER CAR SO THE DEALER COULD KEEP THE CAR LONGER....6/22/15 - I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS I WAS ADVISED TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CALL FORD CUSTOMER CARE BACK TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT THE DIAGNOSIS WAS...6/30/15 - THE CLUTCH WAS RESET TO RE-LEARN THE SHIFTING PATTERNS, AND WAS ADVISED THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BREAKS...6/30/15 - CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE WITH THE DIAGNOSIS, WAS ADVISED THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS DOING THE STEPS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE PER FORD. ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR...7/2/15 - SUPERVISOR CALLED, INFORMED ME THAT I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE BUY BACK PROGRAM, THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT FORD IS TELLING THEM TO DO AND THAT I CAN BUY A NEW CAR AND MENTION THE CUSTOMER LOYALTY FORD FIESTA PROGRAM TO RECEIVE MONEY TOWARDS MY NEW PURCHASE. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE HIGHER UP; SHE ADVISED ME THAT SHE WOULD HAVE SOMEONE CALL ME BUT THAT THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME THE EXACT SAME THING...7/6/15 - WAITING ON A CALL
WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PULLING OUT I FEEL A SHUDDER, FEELS LIKE CAR IS JUMPING. YOU CAN DEFINITELY FEEL AND HEAR IT. DAY FORD IN MONROEVILLE PITTSBURGH PA SAID I NEEDED A NEW CLUTCH KIT SYSTEM. A YEAR LATER ON APRIL 15TH SAME INCIDENT. CAME BACK TO ME AS THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY STATED IT WAS IN THE CARS LIMITATION, (RPM). THREE WEEKS LATER BROUGHT IT BACK TO THEM AND SAID IT AS GETTING WORSE. THEY LOOKED OVER CAR AND STATED YES THEY FELT THE SHUDDER BUT THE CAR WAS IN LIMITATION. THEY ALSO STATED MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE SO THEY EXTENDED THE CARE WARRANTY FROM 50,00 TO 100,000. I STATED THAT I WAS NOT SATISFIED AND SAID I WILL FILE A COMPLAINT. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND BACK LEFT TIRE EXPLODED, THE COMPLETE SIDE WALL ALL THE WAY AROUND BLEW OUT. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH LOSING AIR AND I GOT NO WHERE WITH THE DEALERSHIP, THEN WHEN THIS HAPPENED I EVEN PRINTED OUT COMPLAINTS OTHERS HAD WITH THE SAME TIRES AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WAS CONSIDERED WEAR AND TEAR. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IN AUG OF 2012 AND ITS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD. I AM ALSO HEARING MORE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS. I HAVE A COMMERCIAL LIC., AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY FOR AN UNSKILLED DRIVER. I FEAR FOR MINE AND OTHERS SAFETY. I HAD MY TIRES REPLACED AT WAL-MART. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN OBSERVED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 MILES AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,242 MILES. SR
CAR STARTED TO JERK WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. AND CAR STARTED TO TURN OFF AT RED LIGHTS. AND NEED TO BE STARTED UP AGAIN TO GET GOING . *TR
CAR (FORD FIESTA 2012 PURCHASED IN MAY 2012) REGULARLY STALLS, JERKS AND SHAKES WHEN ACCELERATING AND CAUSES CAR NOT TO MOVE AS QUICKLY. CAR MOVES SLOWER WHEN IT STALLS, JERKS AND SHAKES. DRIVER CANNOT GAUGE WHEN STALLING WILL OCCUR AND WHEN CAR WILL MOVE SLOWER. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IF IN A SITUATION WHERE THE DRIVER NEEDS TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY, CAR MAY OR MAY NOT MOVE AS EXPECTED AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE (3/27/13 AND 12/21/13 FOR THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR. REPAIR RECEIPTS STATE THAT THE CAUSE IS LEAKING SEALS FROM CLUTCH HOUSING AREA. THEY HAVE REMOVED TRANSMISSION REPLACED INNER AND OUTER INPUT SHAFT SEALS, CLEANED CLUTCH AND REASSEMBLED. DESPITE THEIR EFFORTS WE CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR

TRANSMISSION/SHIFT VIBRATES AND SHAKES WHEN IT SHIFTS AND ON OCCASION DIES AT STOPS. HESITATES SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP. TAKEN TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIME, THEY APPLY SOFTWARE UPDATES AND DENY ANYTHING IS WRONG. DEALER AND FORD MOTORS SAY IT IS WITHIN GUIDELINES AND REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER.. *TR
BRAKE FAILURE, THE CAR PULLED SO HARD TO THE RIGHT IT LITERALLY CHANGED THE LANES. CAR IN LEFT LANE HAD TO LOCK UP HIS BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING ME. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY WHEN I HAD TO BRAKE TO AVOID ANOTHER CAR PULLING INTO MY LANE. BRAKES FAILED THE CAR PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND I BARELY MISSED THE COLLISION. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A YEAR AND THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS 6 TIMES. THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES BUT THE BRAKE TECH SAYS IT IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL 2012 FORD FIESTAS HE TEST DROVE. *TR
WHEN ENGAGING THE FRONT SEAT HEATERS, THE SEATS HEAT UP TO 107 DEGREES. TWICE I HAVE COMPLAINED TO FORD, AND BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL OPERATING BEHAVIOR. THE SEATS BECOME SO HOT YOU CANNOT SIT ON THEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF A YOUNG CHILD/INFANT WERE INVOLVED. *TR
MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM, INCLUDING ROLLING BACKWARDS AFTER COMING TO A STOP, HESITATING WHEN SHIFTING, CLUNKING AND CHATTERING WHEN SHIFTING, RESPONDING SLOWLY WHEN ACCELERATING, FEELING LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SEARCHING FOR THE CORRECT GEAR BUT CANNOT FIND IT, AND THE RPM SPIKES AND DROP WHEN SHIFTING. TWO SOFTWARE UPDATES FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND TWO REPLACEMENTS OF THE CLUTCH HAVE BEEN MADE WITHIN THE LAST 1 AND A HALF. *JS
THIS IS AN ON-GOING ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS OR WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHILE MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY OR AT A TRAFFIC STOP THE CAR WILL SHUDDER, PAUSE, JERK FORWARD OR PAUSE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE I HAVE NEARLY BEEN IN A COLLISION BECAUSE OF THIS CLUTCH PROBLEM. THE JERK REACTION OF THE ACCELERATOR HAS CAUSED THE MOST CLOSE CALLS, AS IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE DECELERATING AS WELL. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO MY LOCAL DEALER'S ATTENTION AND HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF 3 WEEKS OR MORE WITHIN A 6 WEEK PERIOD RECENTLY. BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD THE CLUTCH SYSTEM WAS RESET AND HAD TO RE-ADAPT TO MY DRIVING, ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM START AGAIN WITHIN A DAY OR TWO UNEXPECTEDLY. I HAVE TO BRING MY CAR IN YET AGAIN FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN JULY OF 2012 AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE MAIN ISSUE BEING THE HORRIBLE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR SPUTTERS AND SHAKES UPON TAKE OFF; THE RPMS REV UP VERY HIGH AND YET THE CARE GOES NOWHERE; THE CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT NEEDS TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR, BUT DOESN'T; THERE IS A HUGE DELAY WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS, THE CAR SITS THERE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY GOES ANYWHERE; THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD WHEN YOU ARE IN SITUATIONS LIKE STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS AND THE CAR HAS HAD 3 CLUTCHES SO FAR. THE NEWEST PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS A HORRIBLE SQUEALING COMING FROM THE BRAKES. I'VE HAD TWO NEW SETS OF BRAKES AND A DEGLAZING OF THE BRAKES, ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. I'VE TAKEN THIS CAR IN FOR A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND THIS WEEK WILL BE THE 4TH TIME FOR THE BRAKES. THESE CARS ARE A ROAD HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE BBB AUTO LINE. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR KNOWING ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. PEOPLE'S LIVES ARE AT RISK IN THESE CARS AND THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T CARE. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO DIE OR GET INJURED BEFORE FORD DECIDES TO ADMIT THEY SOLD A HORRIBLE PRODUCT AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
TRANSMISSION MAKES A GRINDING SOUND AND SHUDDERS WHEN SHIFTING. WHEN YOU GO TO TURN A CORNER THE CAR SHUDDERS SO BAD IT ALMOST STALLS. WHEN DRIVING UP HILLS WHEN THA TRANSMISSION SHIFTS IT STARTS TO SHUDDER AND YOU ALMOST STALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY AND JERKED. THE FAILURE REOCCURRED WHEN DRIVING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER SPECIAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM PERTAINING TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER. AFTER THE REMEDY WAS PERFORMED, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE RECALL REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT AND FAILED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE THEN STUTTERED AND HESITATED BEFORE THE TURN WAS MADE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission module and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. While driving, the vehicle continued to jerk and there was smoke coming through the vents. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, there was an abnormal booming sound detected. The contact had to depress the accelerator pedal continually for the vehicle to respond as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 28,100. The consumer stated parts alone were $872 of which he doesn't have due to his disability.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY AND THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,900.
THE "AFFECTED PART" IS THE TRANSMISSION. THE "INCIDENT" THAT OCCURRED IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE POWER SHIFT TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE CAR'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS IN "DRIVE" OR "REVERSE", AND THE DRIVER TAKES HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR, THE CAR ACTS AS THOUGH IT IS IN NEUTRAL FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND. IF THE CAR IS ON A HILL, THE CAR WILL ROLL DOWNHILL DURING THAT BRIEF PERIOD WHEN THE BRAKE/ACCELERATOR IS NOT APPLIED. ALTHOUGH THIS HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT DRIVING THE CAR YET, I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARDS THIS COULD CAUSE. IF THE CAR IS STOPPED ON A HILL AND THE DRIVER LETS OFF THE BRAKE/ACCELERATOR, DESPITE ANY ACTION OF THE DRIVER, THE CAR MAY ROLL DOWNHILL AND HIT A CAR BEHIND IT. ADDITIONALLY, PARALLEL PARKING IS VERY DIFFICULT BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION REMAINS IN NEUTRAL FOR THAT 1 SECOND, AND EVEN ON A SLIGHT HILL THE CAR WILL ROLL. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP TO ALERT THEM OF THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IS NORMAL FUNCTIONING OF THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A CAR THAT, WHEN IN DRIVE, ROLLED BACKWARDS WHILE I WAS ON A HILL. IF THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE NORMAL FUNCTIONING OF THE TRANSMISSION, THEN THE TRANSMISSION HAS A FAULTY DESIGN. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE HAZARDS THIS TRANSMISSION MAY CAUSE, SINCE IF A CAR IS CLOSE BEHIND ME WHILE I AM PARKED ON A HILL, MY CAR MAY ROLL BACK AND HIT IT OUTSIDE OF MY CONTROL. IN A TYPICAL MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAR, THE DRIVER IS ABLE TO CONTROL THIS ROLLING WITH THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE. BECAUSE THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THE DRIVER IS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE ROLLING. *TR
WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF DRIVING THIS CAR THAT WE PURCHASED BRAND NEW, IT STARTED SHIFTING ROUGHLY. IT WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT WHENEVER WE MADE A LEFT TURN FROM A STOP, AND IT WOULD STUTTER AND JERK WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN THE LOWER GEARS. EVERYONE WHO RODE WITH US OR DROVE THIS CAR ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 3 TIMES, AND EVERY TIME I BROUGHT IT THEY SAID THEY CHECKED IT OVER AND IT WAS FINE (AT FIRST, IT WAS "LEARNING" HOW WE DRIVE, THEN WE WERE "DRIVING IT WRONG" AND NEEDED TO REALLY "PUNCH IT" STARTING FROM A STOP). GAS MILEAGE WAS TERRIBLE TOO, AS WE WERE SLAMMING THE GAS TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR FROM STALLING. I BROUGHT IT TO MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SAID THERE WAS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION, BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM AGAIN, AND THEY AGAIN SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND WE WERE DRIVING IT WRONG. JUST GOT IT BACK FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHO IMMEDIATELY SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE CLUTCH. THEY SAID THAT THE SEALS AROUND THE CLUTCH HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED, AND THAT WAS THE ISSUE, AND WE SHOULD NOT HAVE THE ISSUE AGAIN. I HOPE THAT IS THE CASE, BUT WISH WE HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS CAR. *TR
ITS ROLLS BACKWARDS, AGAIN AS PREVIOUSLY STATED IT HAS DEFINITE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SOMETIMES IT WON'T SHIFT VERY WELL AT ALL. HESITATING AND FEELS LIKE IT WILL STALL AT ANY MINUTE. HILLS ARE THE WORST, VERY HARD TO GET UP THEM. NOT ONLY DOES IT SPIT AND SPUTTER SHIFTING UP BUT YOU CAN ALSO HEAR THE CLUNKING OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN IT SHIFTS DOWN. *TR
OCTOBER 24, 2012 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. I ACCELERATED VERY GINGERLY (THE POWERSHIFT IS EFFECTIVELY TWO THREE SPEED MANUALS SO YOU CAN'T JUST JAB IT) TO PASS. THE CAR GEARED INTO A LOWER GEAR AS EXPECTED AND THE ENGINE RPM'S SPIKED AS EXPECTED. THE LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION WAS TURNING RED SO I BRAKED EASILY TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. AT THIS POINT THE CAR WAS HOLDING THE LOWER GEAR AND REVVING OUT OF CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR (AS IT WAS TRYING TO OVERPOWER THE BRAKES) AND PLACE IT INTO NEUTRAL WHICH STOPPED THE PROBLEM. THE CAR THEN DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. I RESTARTED THE CAR. AS I WAS GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE, I WAS MERGING INTO TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION GEARED DOWN AGAIN. THE PROBLEM REPEATED. I TRIED PLACING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AGAIN, HOWEVER, THIS DID NOTHING. I CUT THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY AT 50 MPH. MY STEERING GOT REALLY HEAVY. CAR WAS OK FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BUT CONCERNS BACK WITH NOISES, JOLTING, JERKING, LACK OF ACCELERATION. THE WONDERFUL NEWS TO THIS STORY IS THE PART IS BACK ORDERED FROM THE FACTORY AND IT WILL TAKE EIGHT WEEKS FOR THEM TO RECEIVE IN THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.
