THIS VEHICLE HAS BECOME DANGEROUS FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. THE TRANSMISSION WON'T ENGAGE PROPERLY WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP OF ANY KIND AND I HAVE BEEN ALMOST BROAD SIDED MORE THAN ONCE. I CANNOT MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION JERKING AND THE CAR STOPPING LONG ENOUGH TO BE DANGEROUS. ALSO, IT MAKES A METALLIC SOUND AND FEELS AS IF IT IS GRINDING. I AM STILL PAYING FOR THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS SITTING AT A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD TIME. THIS TIME, FORD WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS AND THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT THE PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED AND ANOTHER CUSTOMER HAS ALREADY BEEN WAITING FOR TWO MONTHS FOR HIS TO BE FIXED. PLEASE HELP ME GET A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WITH A CHILD SEATED IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR ERRONEOUSLY OPENED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE DOOR LATCH AND LOCK FAILED AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED AND SECURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I WENT OUT TO DINNER AND WHEN WE CAME BACK TO THE CAR MY PASSENGER OPENED THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. I PROCEEDED TO WALMART AND BOUGHT BUNGIE CORDS TO TIE IT SHUT AND WHEN MY PASSENGER OPENED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND I HAD TO TIE THAT ONE AS WELL. UPON CONTACTING FORD AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH HOW LITTLE IS BEING DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS UNDER A RECALL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WILL ONLY FIX THE TWO THAT ARE BROKEN NOW AND WILL FIX THE OTHER TWO ONCE THE PARTS ARE IN A PLENTIFUL SUPPLY. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE AN EXTENDED PERIOD TO GET THE PARTS AND THAT I COULD DROP MY CAR OFF TO BE FIXED. THIS IS VERY UNACCEPTABLE, THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO BE SAFELY OPERATED THRU NO FAULT OF MINE. I DRIVE AT LEAST 30 MILES TO WORK EVERY DAY AND DEPEND ON THIS CAR FOR TRANSPORTATION, AND NO OFFER OF ASSISTANCE WITH THAT HAS BEEN OFFERED EITHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AND REMAIN SHUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DE PAULA FORD (1101 CENTRAL AVE, ALBANY, NY) AND THE DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED, BUT THE SAME FAILURE RECENTLY OCCURRED ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000(STRUCTURE). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THE RIGHT PASSENGER REAR DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. IF YOU SLAM THE DOOR, IT WILL NOT LATCH SHUT. IT ACTUALLY BOUNCES BACK OPEN. THE DOOR CANNOT BE CLOSED, LEAVING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. THERE IS NO WAY TO SECURE THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN UNLESS SOMEONE HOLDS THE DOOR SHUT. THERE IS NO MANUAL OVERRIDE.
SUNDAY (6/14/15) EVENING I WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE MY REAR PASSENGER CAR DOOR WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCK MY CAR. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON. I COULD NOT LEAVE AN UNLOCKED CAR PARKED ON THE STREET OVERNIGHT AND WAS ALSO WORRIED IT WOULD CAUSE MY BATTERY TO DIE, SO I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DROP IT OFF. AS I DROVE, THE DOOR CONTINUED TO FLY OPEN. I FELT VERY UNSAFE WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHT GLARING AND THE DOOR FLYING OPEN. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED MONDAY TO SAY THEY WOULD ORDER THE PARTS FROM FORD RIGHT AWAY. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ON TUESDAY (6/16/15) TO TELL ME THE CAR WOULD BE READY WEDNESDAY (6/17/15), I ASKED IF ALL FOUR LATCHES ARE BEING REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE ONE DOOR LATCH. I MENTIONED THE LETTER RELEASED BY NHTSA, FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AND OTHER PRESS RELEASES AND HOW IT STATED THAT DEALERS SHOULD REPLACE ALL FOUR DOOR LATCHES WITH AN IMPROVED PART. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY WERE ONLY AUTHORIZED TO FIX THE DEFECTIVE DOOR AND THE OTHER THREE LATCHES ARE FINE. I ASKED IF THE PART THEY WERE GOING TO INSTALL WAS AN IMPROVED PART OR THE SAME PART FOR THE DOOR LATCH. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME AND TOLD ME TO CALL FORD CUSTOMER CARE IF I WANT MORE INFORMATION. I PRESSED THE ISSUE AND AFTER A PHONE CALLS TO FORD CUSTOMER CARE, THE FORD SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, AND THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER, THE DEALERSHIP AGREED TO LOOK INTO WHETHER THEY THINK THE OTHER THREE LATCHES SHOULD BE FIXED. THEY ARE ALSO AGREED TO CHECK TO SEE IF THEY FOLLOWED THE CORRECT PROTOCOL TO FIX THE ONE DOOR AT MY INSISTENCE SINCE THE DEALERSHIP MENTIONED THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED THE PROTOCOL YET ON HOW TO FIX THIS DOOR LATCH ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS UPON ACCELERATION. THE GEARS DO NOT CHANGE SMOOTHLY . IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE FREEWAY AS THE CAR WILL NOT GET UP TO SPEED AS IT SHOULD. THIS STARTED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER. THE INTERNAL CLUTCH HAS BEEN CHANGED OUT 3 TIMES AT FORD OF KIRKLAND IN KIRKLAND, WA. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AT HARRIS FORD LYNWOOD, WA. FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND EITHER REPLACE THE CAR OR COME UP WITH A PERMANENT FIX. I SEE THERE IS A LAWSUIT ALREADY FILED AGAINST FORD IN CA. WE OF COURSE OWE WAY MORE THAN IT IS WORTH
AT AT STOP LIGHT MAKING A LEFT TURN THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. I HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT DID NOT MOVE. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. TWICE. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER AFTER TRAFFIC CAME TO A STOP. THE CAR HAS A VOLUNTARY RECALL TO FIX THE TRANS BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 2 MONTHS FOR THE PARTS.
THE TRANSMISSION FOR THIS FIESTA IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS. IT SHUDDERS AND DOESN'T STAY IN GEAR. THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL OUT ON IT BUT FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. THEY ALSO DON'T TELL YOU UNLESS YOU CALL THEM. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS A BAD SEAL IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OR IT COULD BE A CLUTCH PROBLEM WHICH IS BACK ORDERED.
THE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH LEAVING MY PASSENGER DOOR UNABLE TO STAY CLOSED. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WILL NOT TELL ME IF THEY HAVE PARTS OR WHEN THOSE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. ALSO TOLD ME THIS RECALL IS NOT UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF JULY SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THEN ASK THEM FOR REIMBURSEMENT WHEN RECALL GOES INTO EFFECT. FORD WOULD NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTION AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO WITH A CAR THAT THE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT STAY SHUT AND WOULD ONLY TELL ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER WHO ALSO WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY FORD WAS TELLING ME TO TALK TO MY DEALER ABOUT MY QUESTIONS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES ) HOWEVER THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
CAR HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS DELAY IN SHIFTS AND JERKY LOUD GRINDING NOISES. HAVE HAD 3 CLUTCH REPAIRES TO SOLVE AND NOW TO MY FORTH. I'VE HAD THREE CLOSE CALLS AS THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE ACTING ALMOST IF THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED WHEN ENTERING TRAFIC. THESE HAVE BEEN SPACED OVER MY OWNERSHIP SINCE 10/2011. THE DEALER AND THE TECH TELLS ME THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT AND THAT FORD WILL NO LONGER OFFER THIS TRANSMISSION DESIGN. THIS IS A TRULY UNSAFE CAR WHEN THE CLUTCH FAILS. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAD BEEN REPROGRAMMED 6 TIMES AND NOW WILL HAVE ITS 4TH NEW CLUTCH INSTALLED AND IT ONLY HAS 58,800 MILES.
SEVERAL RECALLS FOR DIFFERENT PARTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS CAR. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE ALL THE TIME CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK AND MOVE FORWARD QUICKLY WITHOUT NOTICE AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CAR. GO UP HILLS THE TRANSMISSION HAS CUT OUT BEFORE AND THEN SHOT FORWARD AS PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED. DOOR LATCHES CAN AND WILL COME OPEN ALLOWING FOR THE DOOR TO OPEN WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND NOW I AM STUCK WITH IT. *JS
REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT SECURE. LATCH SEEMS TO HAVE BROKEN/MALFUNCTION. CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNLESS THE TWO BACK DOORS ARE TIED TOGETHER FROM THE INSIDE, TO PREVENT THEM FROM OPENING WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. AFTER THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE, HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL BOOMING STATIC NOISE COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND BEFORE SHIFTING INTO GEAR, THE STATIC NOISE WAS STILL AUDIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIO MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS ABNORMALLY NOISY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PCM, THE CLUTCH, AND THE SEALS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,370.
AROUND MAY 1, MY FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. A FEW MINUTES OF INTERNET RESEARCH IDENTIFIED THAT THIS WAS LIKELY DUE TO A RECALL THAT HAD BEEN RECENTLY INITIATED BY FORD (DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT - NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 15V246 - FORD RECALL NUMBER: 15S16) (THIS FAILURE CONFIRMED LATER BY THE SHOP). I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND MANAGED TO WORK WITH FORD TO SECURE A RENTAL CAR FOR ME UNTIL THE TIME THAT THIS RECALL REPAIR HAD BEEN COMPLETED. SPECIFICALLY, "TO HAVE ALL FOUR DOOR LATCHES REPLACED WITH A MORE ROBUST SERVICE PART." NOW THAT WAS OVER THREE MONTHS AGO. I AM STILL IN THE RENTAL CAR, YET THE RECALL STATUS IS STILL "12 - RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE." FURTHERMORE, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY PAPERWORK ABOUT THIS RECALL OR INSTRUCTIONS FOR REMEDY. AND FINALLY, I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE "THE ENDING DATE FOR REIMBURSEMENT ELIGIBILITY IS DECEMBER 1, 2015." IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS RECALL? IN PHONE CALLS, FORD HAS NOT HAD MUCH INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATUS OF THIS RECALL. CAN THE NHTSA DO ANYTHING TO MAKE THEM MOVE FASTER?
ON WARMER DAYS, WITH THE A/C ON, VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS COMING TO A STOP. IT STALLS ABOUT EVERY 25-50 STOPS.
CAR SHUDDERS, JERKS, AND LURCHES. CONCERNED ABOUT IT EVEN BEING SAFE TO DRIVE. DO NOT HAVE THE CONTROL NEEDED TO DRIVE SAFE AT ALL TIMES. THE DEALER HAS MADE REPAIRS AND ADJUSTMENT TO THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE MORE THAN THREE TIMES. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT IS FIXED EACH TIME AND EACH TIME THE PROBLEM REMAINS. SEEMS LIKE THE NHTSA SHOULD STEP IN BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. AFTER RESEARCHING, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS FAR FROM UNIQUE. PLEASE SOMEONE GET INVOLVED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FIESTA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS UPHILL, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE MOVED VERY SLOWLY. ALSO, WHEN PARKED ON A HILL, THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
THIS MORNING WHEN I WAS GOING TO DRIVE TO WORK, I FOUND THE FRONT RIGHT DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE. I TRIED TO CLOSE IT SEVERAL TIMES BUT FAILED. THE DOOR JUST DIDN'T STAY SHUT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME. ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO, THE DOOR AT BACK RIGHT SIDE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. IT CAUSED ME $400 TO FIX THAT. NOW ANOTHER PROBABLY ANOTHER $400.... *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND MAKE A QUICK ADJUSTMENT TO THE DOOR DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE INTERNAL LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED DUE TO THE FAILURE, WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY FOR MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES), BUT THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE THE PART FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, WHICH WAS NOT IN A REASONABLE TIMEFRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS STILL EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V488000 (AIR BAGS). THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THAT RECALL REPAIR WOULD BE PERFORMED. THE DEALER DID NOT NOTIFY THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE CONTACT REPORTED THE FAILURE TO THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE WHEN THE TWO RECALL REPAIRS WOULD BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED FOR THE DOOR LOCK FAILURE AND STILL WAITING FOR THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE AIR BAGS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED AND DOOR DOES NOT STAY CLOSED. HAPPENED AFTER CHECKING ON MY SON IN HIS CAR SEAT. THANKFUL IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE INTERSTATE SINCE WE WERE TRAVELING ALL MORNING. FORD STATES IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY NOR HAS THE LATCH BEEN RECALLED YET. HAD THE TIMING OF THE LATCH FAILURE BEEN DIFFERENT IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. *TR
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR UNLATCHED WHILE TURNING A CORNER (CHILD-LOCK WAS ON). MY 3 YR OLD AND 10 YR OLD WAS IN THE BACK WHEN IT HAPPENED. THEY BOTH HAVE AUTISM. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS HURT!! THE DOOR WILL NOT SHUT. I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE LATCH IS BROKEN. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? EVEN WORSE....THE REPAIR IS 501.63. WHAT???? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!!! MY CAR IS SO ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE LATCH, ASAP!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! THANK GOD MY 3 YR OLD IS RESTRAINED IN HIS CAR SEAT AND DIDN'T PUT HIS HAND/ARM OUT WHEN THE DOOR OPENED. IF IT HAD BEEN MY 10 YR OLD....HE MIGHT'VE JUMPED OUT (HE HAS ZERO SENSE OF FEAR DUE TO HIS AUTISM). I WILL SUE EVERYONE IN MY PATH OF A HAIR ON MY CHILD'S HEAD GETS HARMED. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.

IT SPUTTERS AND SURGES AND THEN THE POWER WILL ALL BUT GO OFF AND I GET THE WARNING: ENGINE FAILURE: SEE YOUR DEALER IMMEDIATELY. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES. TWICE, I HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND WILL TOTALLY BE UNABLE TO GO OVER 10 MILES AN HOUR; IF I SHUT IT OFF FOR 5 MINUTES WHEN IT COMES BACK ON IT IS USUALLY OK. I READ THAT FORD AGREED TO FIX 1,600,000 CARS THAT "LIMP HOME". I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE ON MINE AND I HAVE READ THERE WERE 59,807 WARRANTY CLAIMS RELATED TO ETB REPLACEMENTS. A SO-CALLED "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM EXTENDED THE ETB WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR UP TO 10 YEARS. WHEN I TOOK MY IN THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS THE CONSTANT STALLING IN TRAFFIC ETC.
LATCH FAILED. MY PASSENGER NEEDED TO PUT SOME POSSESSIONS IN THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE THERE WASN'T ENOUGH ROOM IN THE FRONT. HE PROCEEDED TO PUT HIS THINGS IN THE BACK, THEN CAME TO THE FRONT AND GOT INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT. I STARTED THE CAR AND THE RADIO DISPLAY NOTIFIED ME THAT A DOOR WAS AJAR. I ASKED HIM TO RE-CLOSE THE BACK DOOR AND WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TOO, IT WOULDN'T LATCH. WE TRIED PULLING THE DOOR HANDLE ON BOTH THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE CAR, AND PUSHING AS HARD AS WE COULD ON THE DOOR, BUT THE DOOR WOULDN'T LATCH SHUT. I ENDED UP HAVING TO DUCT TAPE THE DOOR CLOSE, BUT THE INTERIOR LIGHT REMAINS ON AND REDUCES MY VISIBILITY THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE GLARE. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE LEAVING MY CAR IN PUBLIC PLACES DUE TO THE RISK OF THEFT, AND LEAVING ITEMS BACK THERE FOR FEAR OF THEM FLYING OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. *TR
AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY MY ALERT LIGHT PINGED ON LETTING ME KNOW MY PASSENGER DOOR WAS OPEN. I LEANED OVER TO SHUT IT AND THE LATCH OF THE DOOR WOULDN'T CATCH AND ACTUALLY CLOSE. I HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THIS SAFETY CONCERN. ON APRIL 6, 2015 MY REAR PASSENGER SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD JUST ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, WAS THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND THEN STARTED MY CAR UP. THE LIGHT ALERTING ME THAT I HAD A DOOR AJAR CAME ON. I FIGURED IT WAS MY DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR AND REOPENED AND CLOSED IT AGAIN. I NOTICED THAT MY DISPLAY SAID THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS SIDE WAS AJAR. I THOUGHT ODD BECAUSE NOBODY USES MY DOORS. I GOT OUT, AND TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR ONLY TO HAVE TO BOUNCE BACK AT ME. THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. FORTUNATELY, A FRIEND WAS ABLE TO LOAN ME A BUNGEE CABLE TO HOLD MY DOOR CLOSED. IT IS CURRENTLY SECURED WITH ROPE AND THE BUNGEE CABLE. ON THE 21ST, AS I WAS MAKING A U-TURN IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, MY DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER FLEW OPEN. AT THE SAME TIME MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR STARTED TO UNLATCH AS WELL, TERRIFYING ME AND RESULTING IN A MINOR COLLISION. I MANAGED TO GET MY DRIVERS SIDE LATCHED AGAIN, BUT NOW I HAVE TO HAVE ALL OF MY DOOR SECURED, I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP. A BRAND NEW 2012 FORD FIESTA FAILING IN EARLY 2015. IN ADDITION TO MY DOOR PROBLEMS, MY MODEL HAD A RECALL NOTICE FOR I BELIEVE SOME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. MY CAR WAS VIOLENTLY SHUDDERING, CUTTING OUT/TURNING ITSELF OFF, ETC. THIS OCCURRED WHEN I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, WHILE DRIVING, REVERSING, ETC. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED AND IT IS STILL OCCURRING. I BOUGHT MY FIESTA LAST YEAR IN MARCH. SINCE THE DAY I GOT THE CAR IT HAS VIOLENTLY SHAKEN AND SHUDDERED WHEN PRESSING THE GAS AND MOVING THE CAR FORWARD. IT MAKES A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE. I WAS DRIVING IN MY VEHICLE WITH MY NEPHEW IN THE BACK SEAT. I WAS GOING BETWEEN 45-50 MPH AROUND A CURVE AND THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WHERE MY NEPHEW WAS SITTING FLEW OPEN. I HAD TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO TRY TO SHUT THE DOOR. IT WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED AFTER THAT. MY SISTER WHO WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT HAD TO MOVE TO THE BACK TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT SO I COULD GET HOME. NOW I HAVE A TIE DOWN ACROSS MY ENTIRE BACK SEAT TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM SWINGING OPEN WHILE DRIVING. AND TO HOLD IT SHUT SO THAT I CAN LOCK MY CAR. BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS UP FORD WILL NOT COVER THIS DEFECTIVE PART AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF 400-500 DOLLARS. *TR
THIS CAR HAS HAD 2 DOOR LATCHES FAIL AND NEED REPLACEMENT AFTER ONLY 50,000 MILES AND NO COLLISIONS. IN OCTOBER OF 2014, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AS PER THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS OUTSIDE THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER, I BELIEVED THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE, REQUIRING ME TO TIE IT DOWN WITH A BUNGEE CORD. I CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ANY SORT OF ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. AFTER PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED IN MARCH OF 2015. ONCE AGAIN, I CONTACT FORD. THIS TIME MY CASE WAS ESCALATED TO A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER BUT THE END RESULT WAS THE SAME. THIS CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT AND TWO DOOR LATCHES HAVE FAILED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. TWO DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCHES HAVE LEFT ME WITH TWO DOORS WHICH WOULD NOT CLOSE AND REQUIRED TYING ROPES AND BUNGEE CORDS TO SEATS TO SECURE THEM. EVEN WITH THESE MEASURES, THE DOORS WERE STILL PRONE TO SWINGING OPEN WHILE DRIVING. WITHOUT THE DOORS BEING ABLE TO FULLY CLOSE, I ALSO COULD NOT LOCK MY CAR. AS OF MARCH 24TH 2015, NO RECALL ON THESE DOOR LATCHES HAS BEEN ISSUED DESPITE THIS BEING A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THESE DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCHES. ONCE AGAIN, THESE ARE MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES AND SUBSTANTIAL EXPENSES COSTING ME $400+ PER EACH DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT. *TR

HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT THE SAME FAILURE SHORTLY AFTER THAT REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.

I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY REPORTED THEY WERE AWARE OF AN ISSUE WITH THE REAR DOOR LATCHES BUT THAT THERE WAS NOT AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THEM. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR JUST CAME OPEN ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS RIDING IN HER BOOSTER SEAT IN THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WHEN IT CAME OPEN. HAD SHE BEEN IN THE OTHER SEAT, SHE COULD HAVE FALLEN OUT! THE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AT ALL AND IN FACT, BOUNCED BACK AND HIT ME WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE IT. I HAVE CONTACTED A LAWYER TO GET ME RELEASED FROM THIS "DEATH TRAP". ON MARCH 6, 2015, I WENT TO TURN LEFT ACROSS TWO LANES OF ON COMING TRAFFIC AND IT SHUTTERED AT ACCELERATION AND NEARLY STALLED. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS AUTOMATIC. I WAS NEARLY BROAD SIDED. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A LOANER FOR ME TO DRIVE WHILE THEY REPAIRED MINE. SO ON, MARCH 10, 2015, I TOOK THE FIESTA TO ANOTHER LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER AND UPON THEIR INSPECTION WAS TOLD THAT THE CLUTCH HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE WONDERFUL NEWS TO THIS STORY IS THE PART IS BACK ORDERED FROM THE FACTORY AND IT WILL TAKE EIGHT WEEKS FOR THEM TO RECEIVE IN THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THE FORD FIESTA IS NOT A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD HAVE THE SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS THAT IT HAS. IT ISN'T SAFE FOR CONSUMER USE. *TR
