WE BOUGHT MY CAR IN JULY 2011, ITS WAS GARAGED BY THE 1ST OWNER SO IT WAS LIKE BRAND NEW!! LOW MILES JUST 12,850 , START WHAT NOW SEEMS TO BE THE ENDLESS DRIVES IN A RENTAL CAR AND WITH EMPTY WALLETS TOTALING NOW APPROX; CLOSE TO AN ADDITIONAL $3,500 NOW IN REPAIRS FROM THE BATTERY IN AUG 2011 TO NOW TO HAVING THE THROTTLE BEING REPLACE ALONG WITH A SET IF TIRES AND THE 2ND SET OF BOTH REAR AND FRONT BRAKES IN LESS THEN A YEAR , ALL DUE TO THE CONSENT STOPPING AND GOING OF THE CAR BY HITTING THE BRAKES TOO MUCH AND HAVING TO ACCELERATE, BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD WHILE TEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF MY GARAGE AT WHAT SHOULD OF BEEN A MERE 3MILES PER HOUR; RESULTED IN FLYING BACKWARDS SUDDENLY WHILE FOOT WAS APPLYING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM MOWING DOWN MY TEENAGE SON AT 15 MILES A HOUR ON ITS OWN WITH THE MP RISING RAPIDLY , WAS THE SCARE OF MY LIFE!!!! PLEASE SOMEONE RECALL THIS CAR , BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY DOES GET KILLED OR HURT!!! HI, I HAVE A 2005 FORD FIVE HUNDRED WHILE DRIVING ONE DAY ABOUT A MONTH AGO I HEARD THIS NOISE WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL,I DIDN'T THINK IT TO BE NOTHING, BUT IT FELT LIKE A STUGGLE TO STOP AND THE NOISE GET WORST IT FEELS LIKE THE CABLES OF THE BRAKE LINE ARE TO TIGHT AND EVERTIME I STEP ON THE BRAKES IT MAKES A CREEKING SOUND, A FEW DAY AGO I TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE NOISE CHECK I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NO NEED TO HAVE IT FIX BECAUSE THE NOISE WOULD ONLY COME BACK AND THAT THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR WAS AROUND $1345.99. I CONTACT THE FORD CORP., BY E-MAIL AND RECIEVED A REPONSE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL OR WARRANT ON THIS PART IN OTHER WORDS THEY COULD NOT HELP. I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION ONLY TO BE ADVISED THAT I NEEDED REAR BRAKE ROTORS, REAR BRAKE PADS AND BRAKE FLUID FLUSH. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I'VE REPLACED THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 83,000 MILES ON IT AND I LIVE IN THE SUBURBS. I ARGUE WITH THE SERVICE TECH'S EVERY TIME THEY INSIST THAT THE BRAKES NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT A CAR CAN GO THROUGH SO MANY BRAKES IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. *TR
2005 FORD 500 REAR BRAKE PROBLEM. AT 42,469 MILES A GRINDING NOISE CAME FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. BOTH REAR ROTORS AND PADS WERE DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE NOT WORN. FORD DOES NOT PAY TO CORRECT THIS WHICH IS EVIDENTLY A DESIGN PROBLEM. *TR

PURCHASED MY 500 9/05 IT ONLY HAD 5 MILES ON IT. 6 MONTHS LATER LOUD EXPLOSION IN ENGINE WHICH BEGAN TO LEAK SOME SORT OF FLUID GOT THE CAR TOWED TO DEALER PURCHASED WAS TOLD A/C LEAKING OIL AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLD I WASN'T EVEN USING THE A/C WAS MARCH!!! MY DASH CONSOLE HAD TO BE REPLACED SINCE IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE COMPUTER ALSO HAD TO BE REPROGRAMMED SINCE THE CAR WOULDN'T START IN 30 DEGREE WEATHER THIS HAPPENED IN JAN06......MY FUEL STRAPS WERE REPLACED DUE TO RECALL AND MY DOOR LOCKS WERE REPLACED DUE TO RECALL AND I HAD 22K MILES WHEN THE BACK BRAKES BEGAN MAKING A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WHEN BACKING UP TOOK TO DEALER SAID THAT ALTHOUGH CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY BRAKES ARE UNDER WEAR AND TEAR AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED NOW WHICH DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE SINCE THE FRONT BRAKES WERE GOOD HOW COULD BACK BRAKES GO BAD BEFORE FRONT BRAKES UNLESS YOU ONLY DRIVE YOUR CAR IN REVERSE????? I PAID THE $400 TO FIX SINCE WAS INFORMED 500 ROTORS CANT BE TURNED EVER WILL ALWAYS HAVE TO PURCHASE NEW ONES......THEN 6 MONTHS LATER BRAKES WERE RECALLED AND I DID REQUEST REFUND WHICH I DID RECEIVE. HOWEVER I NOW HAVE 44K NO LONGER HAVE WARRANTY SINCE EXPIRED AND I DIDN'T BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY BROUGHT CAR IN TO FORD SINCE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS TURNING ON AND OFF ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT THEN HAD TRANS CENSOR REPLACED WAS TOLD THAT WAS PROBLEM THEN 2 DAYS LATER LIGHT STILL TURNING ON AND CAR WILL NOT REVERSE TOOK INTO DEALER AGAIN WAS TOLD TRANS AXLE BROKE IN HALF AND NEED NEW TRANS WHICH COSTS $5300 CAR IS ONLY WORK 9K!!!! FORD COMPANY SAID THEY WILL OFFER ASSISTANCE ONLY OF 3K SINCE OUT OF WARRANTY THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT HAD I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I WOULD ONLY BE PAYING $100 NOTHING LIKE THROWING THAT IN YOUR FACE. I OWN A 2005 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR FOR OIL CHANGE MAINTENANCE ON 11/25 AND TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED AND ALIGNED, THE MECHANIC SAID THE REAR BRAKES ON THE VEHICLE WERE 95% WORN, AND SHOULD BE REPLACED IN SHORT ORDER. THIS IS UNUSUAL SINCE THE VEHICLE IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE AND ONLY HAD 21,300 MILES. THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE RECEIVING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE BRAKES FOR THAT MAKE OF VEHICLE. *TR

SCRAPPING SOUNDS WERE COMING FROM THE REAR OF VEHICLE, TAKEN TO DEALER, TOLD 15 DAYS TO GET PARTS. 1 MONTH LATER WENT TO DEALER, TOLD PARTS AVAILABLE FEB 2008, TOLD TO REPAIR VEHICLE ON MY OWN AND WOULD BE REIMBURSED. CALLED FORD, TOLD TO GO AHEAD. FOUND PARTS AND HAD VEHICLE REPAIRED (NEW PADS AND ROTORS - $192.00), LATER IN THE AFTERNOON DEALER CALLS, PARTS HAVE MAGICALLY APPEARED, DEALER TOLD CAR IS REPAIRED. BOTH FORD AND DEALER REFUSE TO REIMBURSE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND FORD WILL NOT OWN UP TO IT. THE REAR WHEELS UP TO THE TIME OF SCRAPPING SOUNDS SHOWED EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST VS THE FRONT WHICH SHOWED ALMOST NO DUST. BOTH FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP DISMISSED THE REIMBURSEMENT SAYING REPAIR WAS OFFERED, WHERE WERE THE PARTS THAT JUST APPEARED OUT OF THIN AIR WHEN THE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE RECEIVED IN FEB 2008? THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS; AND THE BRAKE LINING KIT WAS REPLACED UNDER A VOLUNTARY RECALL ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED THREE YEARS LATER. ON MAY 10, 2007, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT HEARD THE REAR BRAKES GRINDING METAL TO METAL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE REAR ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. THE CONTACT HAS THE REAR ROTORS TO SHOW THE UNUSUAL WEAR. THE CONTACT ALSO HAS THE REPAIR ORDERS FROM BOTH REPAIRS. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 38,585. MY WIFE RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD ABOUT A POSSIBLE SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE REAR BRAKES. THE NOTICE WAS RECEIVED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE AND WE PAID FOR THEM. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2005 FORD 500 NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2005. ON APRIL 17, 2007, 20 MONTHS I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND THE 16,000 MILE CHECK UP AND I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED NEW REAR BRAKES. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHY REAR BRAKES SHOULD BE REQUIRED SINCE I DRIVE VERY LITTLE, AND I TOOK EXTREMELY GOOD CAR OF THE VEHICLES. I OWN TWO OTHER CARS. THIS APPEARED TO BE A MANUFACTURING OR AN ENGINEERING FLAW. I WAS SURPRISED ON HOW QUICKLY THE FORD DEALER KNEW TO LOOK AT THE BRAKES FOR PROBLEMS. THEY MUST BE DOING THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS. I CALLED FORD, AND THEY SAID THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE BRAKES WAS ONLY FOR 12 MONTHS, VERY CONVENIENT. NHTSA SHOULD START AN INVESTIGATION GIVING THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM.AK

THE FORD FIVE HUNDRED HAD REAR BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR FAILURES AFTER ONLY 22,137 MILES. THIS REQUIRED REPLACING THE PADS AND ROTORS AT MY EXPENSE. MY LAST CAR REQUIRED NEW BRAKES AT 53,000 MILES. IN ADDITION ONLY THE REAR BRAKES WERE WARN OUT. THE FRONT PADS WERE STILL OKAY. IN MY OPINION THIS WAS CLEARLY EITHER A DESIGN FAILURE OR A MATERIALS FAILURE. I CONTACTED FORD, AND WAS TOLD THAT BRAKES WERE A WEAR ITEM, AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING.
