MY CAR LUNGES WHEN THE AIR IS ON AND I COME TO COMPLETE STOP IN DRIVE OR WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE IT IS DANGEROUS LUCKY I HAVENT BACKED INTO ANYTHING YET IS THIS A FORD DEFECT I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY WANT A $120 JUST TO LOOK AT IT THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM , BUT LOOKING THRU THE INTERNET I SEE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ALOT OF OTHER CARS MY YEAR , SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT ! *TR
CAR SURGES ON ITS OWN, AFTER PUTTING IT INTO GEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WHEN THE GEAR WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE, THE RPMS INCREASED AND THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 198,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 199,000.
I WAS TURNING ON TO A ROAD AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE JUST REVVED UP LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN TO BOB BOYD FORD 2 TIMES BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION JERKS BUT THEY HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT IN THERE FOR THE JERKING THEY SAID IT WAS THE COMPUTER AND IT NEEDED RESET. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS ME AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT GOTTEN A RECALL ISSUED FOR THESE CARS. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT IN ONE MORE TIME BUT IF THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AGAIN I WILL BE PURSUING LEGAL HELP WITH GETTING A CLASS ACTION STARTED. IF THE NHTSA IS REALLY CONCERNED FOR PEOPLES SAFETY AND WELL BEING THEY SHOULD LOOK INTO THE PROBLEMS PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE CARS. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS LOOK UP ON GOOGLE 2006 FORD 500 RECALLS AND I FOUND ALL KINDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,400. UPDATED 09/19/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED HAS REPLACED AN O RING AND FOUR (4) THROTTLE BODIES WHICH ONLY TURNED OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. NONE OF THE REPAIRS RESOLVED THE ISSUE. 09/20/2012 *JS
5/29/2009 TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 86,000 AT A COST TO ME OF $5197.36 TOTAL. BRAND NEW FORD TRANSMISSION INSTALLED WARRANTY GIVEN OF 3YEARS 100,000MILES. 6/21/2012 AGAIN TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT 150,000 4WEEKS AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES. I UNDERSTAND FORD HAS HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THUIS CVT THAT THEY STOPPED INSTALLING THEM. FORD DEALER COMMENTED THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE SO MANY AND ARE SURPRISED A RECALL HAS NOT OCCURRED. VERY DISTRAUGHT THAT I AM GOING THROUGH THIS AGAIN. *TR
I NOTICED A LEAK UNDER MY VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR LEAKING. I AM PREPARING TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. I AM AWARE THAT THE SAME PROBLEMS EXIST ON NUMEROUS 2005 AND 2006 MODELS. I HOPE THAT FORD WILL TAKE SOME ACTION TO ASSIST THE MANY CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE A RECALL IS REQUIRED! *JS
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE I HAD MY FOOT ON BRAKE AND PUT CAR IN REVERSE. WHEN I LET MY FOOT OFF BRAKE THE CAR LUNGED BACK AND THE RPMS WENT UP WITHOUT MY FOOT TOUCHING THE GAS. AFTER FINALLY FIGHTING IT TO GET IT OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT AND NOT HITTING THE CAR BEHIND ME I PUT IT IN DRIVE. ONCE IT WAS IN DRIVE IT DID THE SAME THING. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND IT WAS LUNGING FORWARD WITH MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME IN PARKING LOT AND FROM A DEAD STOP. IT LUNGES AND JUMPS AT STOP SIGN, RED LIGHTS AND LOW SPEED. *JS

THE CONTACT PUMPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD SLIGHTLY, WITH AN ABNORMAL JERKING MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE SKID, SERVICE ENGINE, AND TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO LIMP MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE TRANSMISSION DIFFERENTIAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND AS I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL..............THE CAR ACCELERATED ABRUPTLY AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP CAUSING ME TO PASS RED LIGHT, ALMOST STRIKING AN ONCOMING VEHICLE THAT WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND DRIVING ONTO SIDEWALK. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT AND AN ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED DUE TO MY QUICK RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE HAS ACCELERATED ABRUPTLY ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS. I WAS PARKED IN A PUBLICS PARKING LOT WHEN I PUT MY VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN ACCELERATED ALMOST HITTING PARKED VEHICLE BEHIND ME. I WAS ADVISED THE THROTTLE SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE ON 2005 & 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED MODELS AND NO RECALL YET! THIS DEFECT CAUSES VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE ABRUPTLY (EVEN WHEN PARKED) OR NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL! THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. WHEN A LIFE IS LOST OR SOMEONE IS SEVERELY INJURED..................IS THAT WHEN SOME ACTION WILL BE TAKEN? ACCORDING TO REPORTS EVEN IF THE PART GETS REPLACED IT DOES NOT GUARANTEE IT WILL NOT GO BAD AGAIN. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO COST BETWEEN $450.00 TO $750.00. *TR
TWO PROBLEMS: 1. CAR SURGES SPORADICALLY (I.E. WHEN PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, CAR SURGES AS IF PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR). 2. WHILE DRIVING ALL LIGHTS ON DASH GO OUT, SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER GO TO ZERO. I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED ONCE (SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, FORD REIMBURSED ME FOR THE COST UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 12N03. THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE PROBLEM IS NOW RE-OCCURRING. FORD HAS INDICATED THAT THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THE CAR AGAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
ENGINE SURGED UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSING TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OCCASIONALLY FOR SEVERAL WEEKS WHILE IN DRIVE AT IDLE OR WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. I HAVE FOUND THIS ISSUE TO BE WIDESPREAD WHEN CHECKING FORUMS ON DIFFERENT WEBSITES. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION THAT EXISTS FOR MANY CONSUMERS WITH THIS MODEL. A RECALL IS NEEDED SO THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION IS ADDRESSED. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE COMPLETELY WHEN PUSHING THE RELEASE BUTTON. ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE SEAT BELT BACK INTO THE BUCKLE TO SEE IF THE RELEASE BUTTON WOULD WORK TO RELEASE THE BUCKLE. THE RELEASE BUTTON WAS STUCK DOWN IN THE BUCKLE AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE BELT OUT. I HAD TO CLIMB OUT OF THE SEAT BELT AND NOW I AM UNABLE TO USE THE SEAT BELT. THE FIRST THING THAT RAN THROUGH MY MIND WAS THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN ON A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT TO MY KNOWLEDGE. (I BOUGHT THIS NEW) THEN OF COURSE MY MIND STARTS WORRYING ABOUT WHETHER THIS WILL HAPPEN TO THE OTHER SEAT BELTS AND WHETHER I WILL BE ABLE TO GET MY SON OUT IN AN EMERGENCY. I CURRENTLY NOT ABLE TO USE THE BELT AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE. OF COURSE FORD OFFERS NO HELP. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A DEALER ABOUT THE REPAIR DUE TO FAMILY DEMANDS, I AM A SINGLE PARENT WORKING FULL TIME AND MY MOTHER HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY AND NEEDS CARE AT HOME FOR AN INFECTION. I BARELY GET 5 HOURS OF SLEEP A NIGHT. I WILL BE CALLING A DEALER THIS WEEK HOWEVER, I THINK THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR A 6 YEAR OLD CAR. THERE ARE CARS 20-30 YEARS OLD THAT STILL HAVE THEIR ORIGINAL SEATBELTS THAT FUNCTION. THIS PROBLEM IN MY OPINION IS BECAUSE CAR MAKERS ARE TRYING TO PUT AN EXTRA DOLLAR IN THEIR POCKET BY BUYING CHEAPER, LOWER QUALITY PARTS. *TR
CAR LUNGES FORWARD IN REVERSE AND DRIVE AND WHILE AT A STOP POSITION. MAINLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS RUNNING. I'M ALWAYS AFRAID OF HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHILE PARKING OR GOING IN REVERSE. GOD FORBID A PERSON IS WALKING ACROSS A CROSSWALK. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS HERE BUT NO ONE CHOOSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. WELL FORD WILL HAVE A LAWSUIT IF SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENS THAT CAUSES INJURY OR A ACCIDENT TO A PARKED VEHICLE AND OR PERSON. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WEBSITE IS HERE IF NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT!!! I CAN SEE WITH OTHER COMPLAINTS ITS THE DEALERS PROBLEM. AT A REDUCED SPEED IN DRIVE AND REVERSE TRANSMISSION BECOMES ERRATIC AND UNPREDICTABLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED THAT WILL LUNGE FORWARD AT ODD TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN THE A/C IS ON. IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED A LONG TIME AGO. I BOUGHT MY FORD FIVE HUNDRED IN JAN 2008 AND IT HAS BEEN DOING IT EVER SINCE. THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED WITH USED TRANSMISSION AND TWO WEEKS LATER THAT ONE WAS DOING IT. PROBLEM STARTED FOR ME AT ABOUT 45,000 MI . THE DEALER I PURCHASED FROM SAID THERE WAS A BULLETIN OUT BUT NO RECALL SO I HAD TO TAKE THE USED TRANSMISSION OR BUY A NEW ONE.IT WILL JUST LUNGE FORWARD EVEN WHEN BRAKING OR STOPPED. WHAT A PAIN. I AM AMAZED I HAVEN'T REAR ENDED SOMEONE. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE EGR VALVE. THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127, 6000.
DASH CLUSTER MALFUNCTION FOR ALL GAUGES. AT THE TIME OF MALFUNCTION, REVERSE LAMPS TURN ON. IF MALFUNCTION OCCURS AT NIGHT, DASH ILLUMINATION ALSO SHUTS DOWN. GAUGES ZERO OUT, TOP OUT THEN FLUTTER AT ZERO. *JS HAVE NOTICED AIRBAG LAMP ON OCCASIONALLY. *JS
2006 FORD 500. THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY SURGE AT IDLE...IT ALSO SURGES DURING GEAR SHIFTS FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND PARK TO REVERSE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY SURGE FORWARD. THIS CAN LEAD TO DAMAGE OF THE VEHICLE OR INJURY TO A PEDESTRIAN. ARFC WEBSITE HAS 125 REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM. SEEMS TO GET WORSE AROUND THE 60-65,000 MILE RANGE....CONVENIENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY. TAKING CAR TO DEALER TODAY FOR EVALUATION AND REPAIR. *TR
THE CAR HAD BEGUN SURGING HARD BOTH IN REVERSE AND FORWARD. IT HAPPENS WHEN STOPPING AND WHEN FIRST PUTTING IT IN GEAR. I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE TO HAVE NOT HIT ANYTHING YET, BUT I AM FEARFUL THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN. I'M SEEING A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM IN SEVERAL FORUMS AND WEBSITES. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. *JS
WHILE DRIVING, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BOTTOMS OUT ON THE SPEEDOMETER, TACH, AND ALL OTHER WARNINGS - BACKUP LIGHTS COME ON AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS GO OUT.. SOMETIMES IT WILL COME BACK ON BY PRETTY QUICKLY, OTHER TIMES IT WILL BE THAT WAY FOR A WEEK OR MORE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND FROM RESEARCH I'VE DONE IS HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM? THERE IS A TSB 06-17-9 DATED 9/4/2006 BUT NO REMEDY BY FORD. ALSO AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED AT THE RECOMMENDED MILEAGE THE TRANSMISSION THEN STARTED SLIPPING AND HAD TO EVENTUALLY BE REPLACED.
CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED MAKING A "CLICKING" SOUND WHILE IN PARK, WE TOOK IT IN TO OUR LOCAL DEALER, THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS UNDER A TSB, BUT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT. SO WHILE WE WAITED FOR THE PARTS TO BE MADE (AS WE WERE TOLD), THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AS MY WIFE AND 7 MONTH OLD CHILD WERE DRIVING IT. SO NOW I HAVE A BROKEN CAR WITH NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT. REPEATED CALLS AND EMAILS TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HAD OFFERED NO SOLUTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH AND ATTEMPTED TO MERGE INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION AND STALLED. THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 151,000.
AIR BAG SYSTEM FAILED , WAS TOLD BY DEALER NONE OF THE AIR BAG IN THE AUTO WILL WORK WITH THE PASSENGERS AIR BAG DEFECTIVE.. WE REPLACED THE SEAT BUT THAT ONE ALSO DIDN'T WORK SO THIS PROBLEM IS NOT LIMITED TO OUR AUTO. WE HAVE HIGH MILEAGE BECAUSE MY WIFE DRIVES 600 MILES A WEEK TO GO TO WORK {ALONE} NO ONE HAS EVER EVEN SAT IN THIS SEAT THIS IS THE PASSENGERS SEAT AIR BAG THAT IS DISABLING THE SYSTEM. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY DON'T CARE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK AND SHIFT HARD WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DOWN SHIFTING OR WHEN BRAKING TO A STOP. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT'S DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS OR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
1ST ISSUE: WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO JUMP FORWARD EVEN WHILE THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED. I WORRY ABOUT REAR-ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK, THE CAR BEGINS TO REV OR IDLE HIGH AS IF THE ACCELERATOR HAS BEEN PRESSED. 2ND ISSUE: WHILE IN PARK OR DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS OF 30-35MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL QUITS WORKING AND THE A/C STOPS AS IF THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. IT'LL THEN COME BACK ON AND WILL CONTINUE TO COME ON AND OFF. THE BAD THING IS THAT THE HAZARD LIGHTS WON'T EVEN WORK. THERE'S NO WARNING. WE HAVE ALREADY HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIRED LAST YEAR IN 2011 WHEN WE FOUND OUT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM BUT NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY NOR A RECALL ISSUED. *TR
MY CAR HAS DONE THIS FOR A WHILE HOWEVER HAS CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. IT WILL JERK WHEN IT CHANGES GEARS. IT IS SO BAD AT TIMES IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO FALL OUT. ALONG WITH THE JERK IT WILL COMPLETELY GO OUT OF GEAR AND THE ACCELERATOR ONLY RAMS IT UP. I HAVE BEEN PASSING CARS ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT GO OUT OF GEAR, I HAVE BEEN ON SIDE ROADS AND IT GO OUT OF GEAR AND ALL I CAN DO WHEN THAT HAPPENS IS ROLE UNTIL I CAN GET THE CAR PULLED OVER. EVENTUALLY THE CAR WILL JERK AND IT WILL GO BACK INTO GEAR. I HAVE NOT HAD A WRECK BUT HAVE COME VERY CLOSE JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE BEHIND ME AND THE CAR STALLING ALL OF A SUDDEN. GOD HAS JUST BEEN WITH US EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO GET FIXED AND MINE IS PARKED AS WE SPEAK BECAUSE I CANT AFFORD THE PART NOR THE LABOR. THE FORD DEALER SAYS IT IS THE VALVE BODY. IF I DRIVE IT MUCH MORE IT WILL COST DOUBLE TO GET THE TRANSMISSION ITSELF FIXED. I AM VERY UPSET DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DO REALLY LOVE THIS CAR. IT SEEMS THAT EVERYONE WHO HAS THIS VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS A FORUM THAT IS ON THE WEB THAT PEOPLE HAVE SHARED THEIR EXPERIENCES AND WE ALL ARE ALIKE. IT IS A SHAME THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SO MANY WRECKS BEFORE A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION IS MADE. DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED OR HURT REALLY BAD TO PROVE THAT THIS IS A TRUE PROBLEM. IF THIS MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME TRANSMISSION TROUBLES CAN THEY NOT SEE SOMETHING IS WRONG. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR RPM GAUGE WAS MOVING UPWARD EVEN THOUGH I WAS STILL AT STEADY SPEED. WHEN I SLOWED AND STOPPED IT APPEARED TO CONTINUE TO LUNGE FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL SINCE I HAD SOME DISTANCE FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. BY THE TIME I REACHED MY DESTINATION I WAS AFRAID THAT IT HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. IT SETTLED WHEN I TRIED TO PARK FOR IT THEN CUT OFF. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS EVENTS WHEN THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD OR CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND EVEN WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. I HAD THREE (3) MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED AND NEW BATTERY ALONG WITH THE SAFETY SENSOR. IT COSTS MORE TO REPAIR THAN GENERAL MAINTENANCE. I SEE WHY THEY STOPPED MAKING THIS CAR. ITS DANGEROUS! I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WHICH MAY NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. THIS CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED OR WE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR REPAIRS RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
INITIALLY CAR WOULD STALL WHEN CRUISE CONTROL WAS TURNED ON AND SPEED WAS ABOVE 55MPH. AFTER RETURNING TO CARMAX FOR REPAIRS CAR CONTINUED TO STALL WITHOUT THE CRUISE BEING TURNED ON. THEN CAR BEGAN ACCELERATING WITH FOOT ON BRAKE WHEN CHANGING GEARS FROM A DEAD STOP. I HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRING. ALL THREE TIMES THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM (WHICH EVENTUALLY WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY). THREE DAYS AGO, ON THE FREEWAY, THE CAR WAS "LUNGING FORWARD" GOING BETWEEN A COMPLETE STOP TO 15 MPH IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE CAR DIED ON ME AND I NEEDED TO PUSH IT OFF THE FREEWAY. I WAS GOING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD NO THROTTLE. I WENT ONLINE AND RESEARCHED THE CAR AND THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS (UPWARDS OF 100+) PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT. CRUISING APPROX 65 MPH. I HEARD A THUD (LIKE RUNNING OVER A POT HOLE). THE CAR LURCHED FWD THEN SEEMED TO SHUT OFF, HOWEVER IT WAS STILL RUNNING. THE RPM DROPPED BELOW 1000 AND THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT WORK. PLACED CAR IN NEUTRAL AND MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NOTICED THE WRENCH LITE WAS ILLUMINATED. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. THE CAR SEEMED TO DRIVE FINE AFTER THAT WITH NO LITE. TOOK THE CAR TO HAVE THE CODES CHECKED. TWO CODES SHOWED: THROTTLE STUCK CLOSED AND THE THROTTLE FORCED TO IDLE (APPARENTLY A SAFETY FEATURE). TWO DAYS AGO HAD TO HAVE THE PCM AND TCM UPDATED AND REPLACED THE UPPER MOTOR MOUNT. FROM PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS THERE ARE SEVERAL WITH THE CAR TAKING OFF AND A FEW OF WITH MY ISSUE. ALL SEEMED TO BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONING WHICH IS APPARENTLY THE CASE HERE. GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES CONCERNING THIS ITEM, SURELY THERE IS A RECALL REQUIRED. AT THE VERY LEAST THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD GIVE US WHAT WE PAID FOR THE VEHICLE AS CREDIT TOWARD ANOTHER CAR (ANY MAKE AND MODEL) IF THEY ARE NO GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

FORD 500 LURCHES SEVERELY AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE THE ENGINE IS ENGAGED. THIS HAPPENS MOST DANGEROUSLY AT HIGH SPEEDS, DUE TO DRIVER'S INABILITY TO CONTROL VEHICLE ADEQUATELY TO DEFEND AGAINST POTENTIAL CRASHES OR CONTROL SPEED DURING TURNS. THIS HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS ON THE SNOW AND ICE HERE IN ALASKA BECAUSE UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION REDUCES TRACTION. ALSO OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS, WHICH IS MORE EASILY CONTROLLED THROUGH BRAKING, BUT REQUIRES EXTREME CAUTION IF ENGAGING VEHICLE WHEN PEDESTRIANS OR OTHER VEHICLES ARE NEAR. IT HAS SURPRISED AND SCARED ME ON MANY OCCASIONS SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED THIS CAR A MONTH AGO, BUT THE REASON I AM WRITING THIS IS BECAUSE I HAD A SCARY INCIDENT TODAY WHEN PULLING OUT OF A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT (PEDESTRIANS IN FRONT OF ME WHEN IT SUDDENLY JUMPED AS SOON AS ENGINE ENGAGED). TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSTIC CHECK SAYS ISSUES WITH FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM.
