FRONT WHEEL ALOY RIM IS BENT DUE TO FAULTY FIRESTONE FIREHAWK GTA 02 205/50R16 TIRES WITH WEAK SIDEWALLS. TIRE HAS BUBBLE ON SIDEWALL DEALER STATED FIRESTONE PROBLEM NOT FORD PROBLEM. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACED THE TIRE AND RIM UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THE DENTED RIM CAME FROM THE VEHICLE HITTING A ROCK OR POTHOLE. THE BENT RIM CAUSED THE TIRE TO HAVE BUBBLE ON IT. THE DEALER ULTIMATELY REPLACED THE TIRE BUT NOT THE RIM. THE NEW TIRE WAS GOOD FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IT PUNCTURED AND DESTROYED. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THE FIREHAWK TIRES HAVE DESIGN FLAWS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.*AK
THE REAR WINDOW IN MY 2003 FORD FOCUS SEDAN ZTS SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED OVERNIGHT WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE NEXT MORNING IT WAS FOUND COMPLETELY INTACT WITH NO SIGN OF IMPACT OR FORCED ENTRY. FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR STATING THAT I SHOULD CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAVE THEM SUE FORD.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE SIDE AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INVESTIGATION. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *PH
WHEN BRAKES GET WET, THEY MAKE A WHISTLING SOUND; THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED BEFORE WHEN TURNING; THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN CUT AND THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED; THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON IT. *AK
APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS AGO, I WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC, AND MY 2003 FORD FOCUS QUIT ACCELERATING. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING.*AK I BEGAN PUMPING THE GAS PEDAL, THINKING A FUEL LINE MIGHT BE CLOGGED, BUT IT DIDN'T SEEM TO HELP. FINALLY, ALTHOUGH SOMEWHAT CHUGGING, I GOT ENOUGH ACCELERATION TO WEAVE OUT OF TRAFFIC AND EXIT AT AN OFFRAMP. I PULLED INTO THE FIRST PARKING LOT, PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL, AND LET IT IDLE. THE ENGINE SOUNDED SMOOTH. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I PUT THE CAR BACK IN DRIVE AND ALL WAS FINE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SAN DIEGO FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD NO PROBLEM COULD BE DETECTED. I WAS ADVISED TO LET THE GAS TANK GO TO EMPTY, ADD STP, AND SEE IF THE PROBLEM CEASED. I DID SO. NOW, SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 65MPH DOWN A DANGEROUS WINDING GRADE NEAR MY HOME IN MORONGO VALLEY. AGAIN, MY CAR LOST ACCELERATION. I BEGAN PUMPING THE GAS PEDAL, BUT THE MOTOR JUST REVVED. IT WAS AS THOUGH MY CAR HAD SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL. I GLANCED DOWN AT THE AUTOMATIC SHIFT LEVER, TO SEE IF I HAD ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKED IT OUT OF GEAR. IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I BEGAN LOSING SPEED AND HAD TO COAST DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE GRADE, WHERE THERE WAS PARKING ACCESSIBILITY. THE SAME AS BEFORE, I PLACED MY CAR IN PARK, LET IT IDLE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, PUT IT IN DRIVE, AND IT WAS FINE. I TOOK IT TO PALM SPRINGS FORD, WHERE IT IS RIGHT NOW. I RECEIVED A PHONE MESSAGE FRIDAY EVENING, AFTER WORK, AND I WAS TOLD THE CAR HAS CHECKED OUT FINE. I HAD ASSUMED THIS WOULD HAPPEN, BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS SO INTERMITTENT. THE SERVICE ATTENDANT, MIKE BRUNI, STATED HE HAD DOCUMENTED THE PROBLEM AND I COULD PICK UP MY CAR. I LEFT A MESSAGE ON HIS VOICEMAIL, EXPLAINING MY FEAR OF A COLLISION. THERE IS DEFINITELY A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT MUST BE FIXED, OR I FEEL MY SAFETY IS IN JEOPARDY. UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS ELIMINATED, I AM RELUCTANT TO TAKE MY CAR HOME. I SEE THE 2000-2001 FOCUS HAD A STALLING PROBLEM ALSO. ANY RELATION?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD FOCUS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE KEY COULD NOT BE INSERTED INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (PARKS FORD & LINCOLN OF GAINESVILLE LOCATED AT 3333 N MAIN ST, GAINESVILLE, FL 32609) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
SQUEALING BRAKES, GRABBING BRAKES, GRINDING NOISES FROM BRAKES, PREMATURE WEAR IN FRONT ROTORS, KNOCKING NOISE FROM REAR SUSPENSION, LOUD SQEAKING NOISES FROM ALL SUSPENSION. BROUGHT CAR INTO 3 DIFFERENT SERVICE DEPARTMENTS A TOTAL OF 10 TIMES FOR ALL AND NO SOLUTION. SERVICE DIDN'T CARE ENOUGH AND VERY RUDE.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO START IN THE MORNINGS AND IT WOULD IDLE EXTREMELY ROUGHLY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND REMEDY THE ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THE MOTOR MOUNTS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD NOT BLOW COLD AIR. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF DETERMINING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

"CHECK BATTERY" LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY OR STOPPED. WHEN DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 45 MINUTES SPEEDOMETER JUMPS WILDLY AND DASH LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF. ELECTRICAL BUZZING NOISE FROM DASHBOARD. DEALER REPORTS THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS HIGHWAY SPEEDS VEHICLE VIBRATED. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEMS PERTAINED TO THE TIRE AND RIM. SHE HAD TO REPLACE THE SAME TIRE AFTER 18,000 MILES/30,000 MILES, AND 46,000 MILES DUE TO MUD ACCUMULATING INSIDE THE TIRE RIM. THIS THREW THE BALANCE OFF, AND VEHICLE CONTROL WAS AFFECTED. IT PERFORMED ERRATICALLY. CONSUMER ALSO CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH THE LEFT FRONT TIRE ON MY CAR SUDDENLY BLEW OUT. IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE SIDEWALL. THE TIRE WAS A GOODYEAR INTEGRITY SIZE P185/65/R-14. THE SUDDEN BLOWOUT CAUSED 900 DOLLARS DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND THE DEALER AND TIRE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO PAY. *LA
2003 SVT FORD FOCUS: FLYWHEEL, PRESSURE PLATE, CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FAILURE. MULTIPLE CASES HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED TO DEALERS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR 15 BUSINESS DAYS WITH NO END IN SIGHT. I HAVE ALSO HEARD OF BELLHOUSING CRACKING HOWEVER I'M NOT SURE IF THIS WAS A CASE WITH MY CAR, NO INFORMATION ABOUT THAT FROM DEALER.*AK
THE BRAKES ARE SQUEEKING AND MAKING THUMPING NOISES AT ONLY 6000 MILES. *LA
METAL PEICE ON THE BACK OF THE CAR LIKE TIE ROD ENDS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IT IS BROKE AND CAUSE THE CAR TO GO OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND RUIN ALL TIRES. HAVE TO REPLACE THE METAL PIECE WITH ONE THAT IS ADJUSTABLE. HAVE TAKE THE CAR TO THREE DIFFERENT PLACES TO GET THE JOB DONE. WE LIVE IN WYOMING SO THAT MEANS THAT WE HAVE TO TRAVEL A WAYS TO GET TO THESE PLACES. SHEIDAN AND GILLETTE. THUNDER BASIN FORD IS CURRENTLY ORDERING THE PART SO THAT WE CAN GET THE REAR ALLIGNED PROPERLY. THEY STATED THAT THE PEICE WAS PROBABLY BENT FROM THE MANUFACTURE.

MY WIFE BARBARA PURCHASED A NEW 2003 FORD FOCUS. SHE BROUGHT IT HOME ON FRI. OCT.10TH. 2003, SHE PUT ON ABOUT 100 MILES. SHE PARKED IT IN OUR DRIVEWAY. ON MONDAY OCT. 13, 2003 WHEN I WENT OUT TO THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW WAS CRAZED. WITH A CLOSER INSPECTION I SAW THAT THE WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY CRACKED. THE WINDOW WAS INTACT WITH NO SIGN OF IMPACT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ASKED ME TO BRING IT IN TO THEIR SERVICE CENTER. I DID AND THEY ARE REPAIRING IT. WE LIVE IN A REMOTE AREA WITH NO TRAFIC. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY WITH THE REAR WINDOW FACING AWAY FROM THE ROAD. THE TEMPERTURE WAS 38 DEG. F.AT NIGHT AND 70 DEG. F DAYTIME. WE LIVE IN ALPINE, AZ ELLEVATION 8050 FT. *LA
I BOUGHT MY 2003 FORD FOCUS AROUND OCT 2003, SINCE DAY 1 THE DRIVER'S SIDE AREA OF THE TRUNK GETS SOAKED WHEN IT RAINS. I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE IT IS COMING FROM OR HOW THE MOISTURE GETS IN. ALSO, CAR HAD RUST ON THE MUFFLER AND UNDERCARRIAGE WHEN I DROVE IT OFF OF THE LOT THE DAY I BOUGHT IT.*AK
REAR DRIVE WHEEL RIM IS BENT AND DAMAGED THE TIRE. DEALER STATED PROBABLY CONSUMER HIT A POTHOLE OR A CURB AND BENT THE WHEEL.*AK THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACED THE RIM UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THE DENTED RIM CAME FROM THE VEHICLE HITTING A ROCK OR POTHOLE. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH AND WITH NO WARNING VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, HEAVY BLACK SMOKE AND FLAMES CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED TO INDICATE THERE WAS ANY KIND OF PROBLEM. *NLM
DRIVER'S SEAT HAD A PIECE OF METAL WHICH WAS EXPOSED, AS A RESULT, THE CONSUMER CUT HER LEG. *AK (SEVERAL OTHERS HAD BEEN HURT AS WELL) THE METAL WAS ONLY EXPOSED WHEN THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS PUSHED FORWARD TO ALLOW THE PASSENGER IN THE BACK TO EXIT. IF THE SEAT WAS BACKED FOR A TALL DRIVER, IT WOULD BE EXTREMELY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE PASSENGER TO BECOME INJURED. *SCC *JB
REPLACED THE AXLE AND TRANSMISSION AND WAS PICKED UP ON 8/26/03. IT HAD EXACTLY 725 MILES. ON 9/5/03 IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN WITH THE TRANSMISSION GETTING STUCK IN A FORWARD GEAR. IT HAD EXACTLY 1024 MILES. REMAINS IN THE SHOP TO THIS DAY. 9/12/03. *PH

I BOUGHT A 2003 FORD FOCUS LX ON 7/23/03. IT BROKE DOWN ON 8/18/03 IN SPRINGGOLD, GA. WITH A BROKEN AXLE AND A BROKEN TRANSMISSION. SALE FORD REPLACED THE AXLE AND TRANSMISSION AND WAS PICKED UP ON 8/26/03. IT HAD EXACTLY 725 MILES. ON 9/5/03 IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN WITH THE TRANSMISSION GETTING STUCK IN A FORWARD GEAR. IT HAD EXACTLY 1024 MILES. REMAINS IN THE SHOP TO THIS DAY. 9/12/03. *PH
THE IGNITION HAS BEEN STICKING FOR A COUPLE MONTHS, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO START THE CAR, MORE RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN A DAILY OCCURRENCE THAT THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN WITHOUT GREAT DIFFICULTY. WHAT THIS ULTIMATELY LEAD TO WAS GETTING STRANDED DUE TO THE CAR BEING UNABLE TO START ( IGNITION WOULDN'T EVEN TURN). I AM NOW GOING TO HAVE TO GET THE CAR TOWED AND EITHER RE-KEYED, OR A NEW IGNITION PUT IN WHICH WILL COST A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY. *TR
I BOUGHT MY FIRST BRAND NEW CAR, 2003 FORD FOCUS! SINCE IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR, I EXPECTED IT TO BE FLAWLESS. HOWEVER, I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WHEN WE FOUND RUST ON THE MUFFLER, THEN ON THE METAL FRAME IN THE DASHBOARD AREA. WE TALKED TO THE ASST. MGR (JAY PARKER) ON 8/24. I ASKED FOR THE GM, BUT HE SAID TO CALL MONDAY, 8/25 TO SEE IF HE'S IN. HE WAS IN ON MONDAY, BUT THEY HAD ME TALK TO ANOTHER PERSON, EDDIE SUZUI. HE SAID TO BRING THE CAR IN AND ASK FOR HIM. AS SOON AS WE GOT THERE, WE WERE TOLD TO BRING THE CAR TO THE SERVICE AREA, AND ROBERT ENRIQUES, THE SERVICE ADVISOR EXAMINED THE CAR, AND WENT THROUGH THE LIST OF PROBLEMS ABOUT THE CAR. HE DID SAY THE RUST ON THE MUFFLER IS JUST "SURFACE" RUST, BUT THE OTHER RUST IS "MORE THAN SURFACE RUST". I ASKED HIM WHY FORD SELLS CARS WITH RUST IN IT. HE JUST SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS AND SAID NOTHING. I TOLD HIM THAT I DIDN'T WANT THE CAR ANYMORE, SO I ASKED TO SEE THE GM. ROBERT SAID HE'LL GET THE GM, BUT A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE ASST. MGR CAME TO TALK TO US. BASICALLY, JAY CONFIRMED WHAT ROBERT ALREADY TOLD US, AND TRULY EMPHASIZED THAT THE CAR DOES HAVE SERIOUS RUST ON THE FRAME, AND THAT WE'RE NOT JUST IMAGINING IT! IT IS NOT JUST SURFACE RUST!ROBERT ENRIQUES TOOK PICTURES OF THE RUST AND SENT THEM TO DIGITAL IMAGING. ROBERT TOLD ME THAT MANUFACTURER WON'T TAKE THE CAR BACK. HE ALSO SAID THAT THE FORD SERVICE REP WILL BE HERE IN HAWAII ON 9/8, AND HE'LL SHOW THE PICTURES TO HIM THEN AND DECISION WILL BE MADE. I FINALLY GOT TO TALK TO THE GM (8/27), AND TOLD HIM ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. HE SAID HE'LL TAKE CARE OF THE RUST, AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS CAN BE TAKEN CARE OF, BUT THEY'RE ALL MINOR PROBLEMS. I DON'T THINK THEY ARE! NOT ON A BRAND NEW CAR! JAY PARKER TOLD US ON MONDAY, 8/25 THAT THIS BRAND NEW CAR DOES HAVE SOME SERIOUS RUSH, AND IF THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT GOING TO TAKE BACK THE CAR, I COULD GO FOR ARBITRATION. THIS CAR COULD BE CLASSIFIED AS A "LEMON" CAR. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
MY 2000 FORD FOCUS WITH 70080 MILES SUFFERED ENGINE FAILUE WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE ENGINE WILL NOT REMAIN RUNNING UNLESS THE ACCELLERATOR PEDAL IS HELD OFF OF IDLE. THE ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK AND STAY AT IDLE WITHOUT OPERATOR INTERVENTION. *AK THE UNIT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SERVICE PENDING REPAIR. THERE IS A RUMBLING SOUND FROM THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES (+-0.5" AT 3 HERTZ) WHEN AT 55MPH AND ABOVE.
MY 2003 FOCUS STATION WAGON WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE (THE ENTIRE CAR) AT SPEEDS ABOVE 55 - 60 MPH WHEN BOTH REAR WINDOWS ARE OPEN ALL THE WAY AND ALL OTHER WINDOWS SHUT, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BECOME ALARMED AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW W/AIR FLOW, WHICH CAUSES THE ENTIRE CAR TO RESONATE.*AK
PROBLEMS WITH WATER IN VEHICLE'S ENGINE.*MR CONSUMER DROVE OVER A PUDDLE AND VEHICLE WAS SPLASHED ON BY ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE OPPOSITE LANE. APPROX. 50 FEET FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE CUT OFF AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE NEXT MORNING SOMEONE FROM THE SERVICE DEPT. STATED THE ENGINE WAS FLOODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT $5000. THIS WASN'T COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER WOULDN'T OFFER A RENTAL VEHICLE SO THE CONSUMER FELT HE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO HAVE THE WORK DONE. AN INDEPENDENT COURT CERTIFIED AUTO EXPERT STATED IN HIS OPINION THERE WAS A DESIGN DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS INCAPABLE OF BEING DRIVEN THROUGH PUDDLES DUE TO LOW AIR INTAKE. *PH *JB THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT. *SC

CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE INSPECTED BY A CERTIFIED NEW YORK CAR INSPECTOR, WHO INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE AIR INTAKE HOSE IS BELOW THE FRONT FENDER OF VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND NEITHER WILL CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY. *PH

BRAKE FAILURE;I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN SEATTLE, WA. I WAS KEEPING ABOUT TWO CAR LENGTHS BEHIND OTHER CARS. THAT STRATEGY PROVED TO BE A MISTAKE BECAUSE A LARGE ONE TON DODGE VAN SCOOTED INTO THE GAP AHEAD OF ME. WE WERE GOING ABOUT TEN OR TWELVE MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE LARGE VAN SUDDENLY STOPPED. I HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD AND HELD IT TO THE STOP (FLOOR?) AND MY FORD FOCUS CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD ABOUT TWELVE FEET WITHOUT ANY FEEL OF SLOWING OR STOPPING. THE LARGE DODGE VAN AHEAD STOPPED ME.*AK
TRUNK LATCH FAILED TO WORK, UNABLE TO CLOSE TRUNK ONCE OPEN AND UNABLE TO OPEN TRUNK ONCE CLOSED. CAR WAS IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE 2ND TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM, ORDERING NEW TRUNK LATCH MECHANISM FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO REPLACE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED PART WAS DEFECTIVE.
I GOT INTO MY CAR LAST NIGHT AND COULD NOT START IT, I HAVE A 2003 FORD FOCUS STATION WAGON SE, THE KEY WON'T TURN IN THE IGNITION, I AM STRANDED AND CANT GET TO THE DRUG STORE TO GET MY SONS MEDICATION. I CANT GET TO THE GROCERY STORE AND AM AFRAID I WONT BE ABLE TO GET TO WORK ON MONDAY. *TR
I CURRENTLY HAVE 7000 MILES ON MY FOCUS. THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES THE FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED. ITS IN THE SHOP AGAIN. CAR STALLS CONSTANTLY. LOTS OF EXCUSES, NO SOLUTIONS. CURRENTLY RESEARCHING LEMON LAW.*AK

BUY THE CAR IN LIVINGSTON MONTANA 09-28-2002 THE VIN [XXX] THE CAR HAD ONLY LIKE 20 MILES WE DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. WE WENT ON VACATION THAT SUMMER WE HAD A BLOW OUT ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE. WE CALLED THE FORD COMPANY IN LIVINGSTON ,MONTANA WE WERE IN ID SO THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANY THING FOR US. WE HAD TO DRIVE TO THE NEXT TOWN ABOUT 14 MILES BACK . WE GOT BACK WE TOOK IT TO FORD COMPANY. THE CAR WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT AND SHAKING REALLY BAD AND THE TRUNK WILL NOT LOCK (IT WILL NOT LOCK IF WE PUSH THE BUTTON ) WE DO NOT USE THE TRUNK STILL ,THE CLUTCH POPS OUT THEM TOLD US TO DOUBLE CLUTCH AND IT ( STILL POPS OUT WENT YOU BACK UP SOMETIMES). WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THEY ,THEM ON 09-24-2003 THEY HAD THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS ALMOST I HAVE A LISTED OF THING WANT WAS WRONG AN STILL WRONG WITH THE CAR ,WE TOLD THEM WE WANT AN NEW CAR BUT THEY STILL WOULD NOT GIVE US ONE OR WOULD NOT WORK WITH US , THEM SAID I'M SORRY BUT WE COULD NOT DO THAT. THE ACCIDENT THAT TOOK PLACE ON 5/29/03 INVOLVED A 2003 FORD FOCUS STATION WAGON DRIVEN BY MY SON. THERE WAS IMPACT WHERE A PARKED CAR AND A TREE WAS INVOLVED,AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ALL. I THOUGHT AIRBAGS WERE A SAFETY FEATURE THAT SHOULD HELP PREVENT BODILY INJURIES. I WROT A LETTER TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY YET I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE TO THIS MATTER. I ALSO SPOKE TO ONE OF THEIR REPRESENTATIVES BY THE NAME OF "MARY" WHO WAS SUPPOSE TO BE GIVING THE INFORMATION TO THE ENGINEERING STAFF THAT HANDLES THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS,"YET NO RESPONSE. WHEN THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED I DIDN'T EXPECT MECHANICAL FAILURE TO OCCUR. I'AM NOT PLEASED AT ALL THAT FORD MOTOR HAS NOT CONTACTED ME CONCERNING THIS MATTER. THE PEOPLE THAT WERE INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT ARE NOW SUING MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND MYSELF DUE TO THE ACCIDENT AND AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THEN WHEN SPEAKING TO THEIR REPRESENTATIVE SHE STATED IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILTY TO GET THE CAR OVER TO A FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS INSPECTED,"I DONT'T THINK SO". I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE NATURE OF AIRBAG MECHANICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A FAULTY POWER MODULE, WHICH WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALER. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONSUMER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE BUT SOON AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. AFTER DOING THIS FOR THE FOURTH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PCM FAILED. THE LEFT BRAKE LIGHT BULB BURNED OUT. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WERE INOPERATIVE. *NLM *CB *NLM
WHEN RUNNING THE AC ON THE CAR, THERE IS AN EXTREMELY BAD ODOR WHICH CAN BE SMELLED BOTH INSIDE THE CAR AND OUT. IT APPEARS TO BE SOME KIND OF BURNING OR CHEMICAL ODOR. IT WILL ACTUALLY AFFECT THE BODY BY MAKING YOUR EYES BURN AND MAKING YOU FEEL SICK. IT CAN NOT BE DRIVEN. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES WITH THE PROBLEM UNRESOLVED. THE THIRD TIME, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS FIXED; HOWEVER, UPON TESTING AT THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE PROBLEM WAS UNRESOLVED. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT FORD'S ENGINEERS ARE COMING IN TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM, AS THE SERVICE MANAGER PULLED THREE NEW CARS OFF THE LOT AND FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHEEL WAS DAMAGED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. DEALERSHIP FOUND WHEEL WAS CONSIDERED BY FORD TO BE A PRODUCTION ONLY PART AT THIS TIME. THE WHEEL WON'T BE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC OR DEALERSHIPS UNTIL OCTOBER. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE SPARE WON'T WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER. CONSUMER CONTACTED FORDS CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD OR WOULD DO TO HELP. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO DRIVE ON A SPARE FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME. *TT
I HAD A CRACK IN THE COOLANT RESERVOIR THAT I TOOK TO GET REPAIRED. I DROVE MY CAR THERE, TURNED THE CAR OFF WHILE WAITING FOR THE CUSTOMER IN FRONT OF ME TO PULL UP. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND PULLED IT UP TO WHERE THE SERVICEMAN WAS WAITING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I GAVE THEM MY INFORMATION. THE SERVICEMAN THEN TOOK MY CAR, STARTED IT, AND DROVE IT INTO THE SERVICE BAY. THEY DID THE WORK ON THE CAR AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THEY TRIED AND TRIED. IT WOULDN'T TURN. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OR ANYTHING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I WENT TO THE FORD DEALER AND ASKED THEM HOW THIS HAPPENS, IF IT HAPPENED OVER TIME, OR WHAT. THE GUY TOLD ME THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME AND THEN IT WOULD COST $400 TO GET REPAIRED. JUST OUT OF THE BLUE WITHOUT WARNING HE SAID THAT THE IGNITION COULD GO OUT! I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HE ONLY HAD TO REPAIR THE IGNITION SWITCH AT VIRTUALLY HALF THE PRICE USING FORD DEALER PARTS! IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE THAT SOMETHING AS VITAL AS THE IGNITION CAN JUST STOP AT ANY TIME! *TR
