NOVEMBER 19TH, ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, BRAKES WENT TO FLOOR, I HIT A PICKUP. REQUESTED DEALER CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM, THEY DID A TEST DRIVE SAID BRAKES ARE FINE. NOVEMBER 30TH, DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, WENT TO STOP NOTICED BRAKES WERE MUSHY, NOT SAME TENSION AS USUAL BUT CAR DID BRAKE. DECEMBER 5TH, MAKING RIGHT HAND TURN TO GET ON FREEWAY, TAPPED BRAKES, BRAKES DID NOT WORK, TAPPED AGAIN THEY WORKED. *TR
DEAR SIR: I RECENTLY PURCHASED A FORD FOCUS SEDAN 2007 WHICH HAS THE FEATURE IN WHICH IF THE FRONT PASSENGER IS NOT WITHING CERTAIN RANGES THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. CONSISTENTLY, THE NOTIFICATION THAT THE AIR BAG IS OFF LIGHT ON WITH MY 22 YEAR OLD FEMALE DAUGHTER WHICH IS SHORT ( 5FOOT 2 AND 105 POUNDS) IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE WITH THE DEALER BUT THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION AND THEY STATE THAT THE THRESHOLD IS SET TO 100LB WHICH I CONSIDER EXCESIVE. AFTER ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES OR SO THE LIGHT TURNS OFF AS IT SHOULD BE, BUT THIS LEAVES AN EXTENDED INTERVAL IN WHICH MY DAUGHTER IS NOT PROTECTED. I'D APPRECIATE YOUR ADVICE ON HOW TO HANDLE THIS MATTER . *TR
I'VE HAD TO GET THE WHEEL BEARINGS FIXED 3 TIMES. THE ELECTRICAL WARNING LIGHTS GO OFF AND ON FOR EXAMPLE THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN GOES OFF FOR NO REASON AND THE SAME WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT. ALSO THE SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT SENSES A PERSON OR A INANIMATE LOAD IS INCORRECT SOMETIMES. AND LAST, WHEN I PUNCH MY EXCELLORATOR TO GO ON THE FREEWAY, IT DOESN'T KICK INTO OVERDRIVE EVERY TIME. MORE TIMES IT DOESN'T THAN DOES.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF WHEN AN OCCUPANT IS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE OCS SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND THEY MADE THE REPLACEMENT. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S WEIGHT CAUSED THE LIGHT TO FLASH, BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,544 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91.
ON OCTOBER 25 2007 I PURCHASED A FORD FOCUS SEDAN 4 DOOR CAR WITH MORE OR LESS 400 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I NOTICED THAT WHEN MY DAUGHTER WHICH IS 5 FOOT ONE, 112 LB WAS RIDING IN THE PASSENGER'S SEAT, AN INDICATOR LIGHT LIT INDICATING ME THAT THE AIRBAG IS TURNED OFF ( WRITTEN ON THE PLASTIC), TELLING ME THAT AT THIS MOMENT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN CASE OF A COLLISION. THIS FEATURE IS SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE WHEN CHILDREN ARE SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IN ORDER TO AVOID DEPLOYMENT INJURY. I WENT TO MY DEALER 4 TIMES EXPRESSING MY COMPLAINTS AROUND THIS SAFETY ISSUE. EACH TIME THEY TOLD ME THAT THE UNIT WOULD BE RESET AND ULTIMATELY THEY EVEN EXCHANGED A SEAT CUSHION, ALL OF THIS WITH NO AVAIL. CONFRONTED AGAIN WITH THIS PROBLEM WITH MY WIFE AS A PASSENGER (5FT 3 AND 114LB) I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPRODUCED THE SITUATION I WAS EXPLAINING WITH A LOCAL THIN PASSENGER. AS A RESULT OF THIS VISIT I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT ON 11/19/2007. FORD ADVISED THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A FOLLOW UP CALL IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. TODAY 11/20/2007 FORD CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT ACCORDING TO THEIR ENGINEERS, THE BEHAVIOR OF THE LIGHT WAS "AS DESIGNED" AND AS SUCH I COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. LET ME STATE THAT FORDS EXPLANATION IS RIDICULOUS AND A SEVERE BREACH IN AUTO SECURITY WITH LIABILITY ISSUES. BOTTOM LINE, OCCUPANTS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT ( IN THIS CASE MY DAUGHTER OR WIFE) COULD BE SUBJECTED TO LETHAL INJURIES AS A RESULT ON NON DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG DUE TO A FAULTY MECHANISM WHICH INTERPRETS ERRONEOUSLY THAT SMALL ADULTS ARE CHILDREN EVEN IN THE CASE OF NORMAL SMALL ADULTS. I FIND THIS SITUATION COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND AWARENESS, IF NOT A CLASS SUIT SHOULD BE INITIATED AGAINST FORD. AS A CUSTOMER, I'M FRUSTRATED AND FEEL AT RISK USING THIS NEW VEHICLE. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT APPROXIMATELY 5000 MILES, NO MAJOR INCIDENTS LED UP TO IT, HOWEVER, MINOR SOUNDS WHEN IT SHIFTED, TRACTION CONTROL WOULD NOT SHUT OFF ON ONE OCCASION. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS NEW 2007 FORD FOCUS ON 8-16-07 AND WHEN I LEFT AND HEADED DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY TIRES WHICH ARE PIRELLI P6 FOUR SEASONS 205/50R16 WERE MAKING A TERRIBLE THUMPING NOISE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS REASSURED BY THE SALESMAN THAT THE IS WHAT HAPPENS WITH LOW PROFILE TIRES. I TALKED TO HIM 5 OR 6 TIMES OVER A 2 TO 3 WEEK PERIOD AND HE KEPT TELLING ME THAT IS THE SOUND OF LOW PERFORMANCE TIRES. WELL I WENT IN FOR MY OIL CHANGE AND TO HAVE MY TIRES ROTATED AND THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND MY TIRES WERE SHOT. THE TWO FRONT ONES WERE WORE ON THE INSIDE AND THE BACK TWO HAD A FUNNY WEAR PATTERN THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THEY ALSO TOLD ME HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO HAVE 4 NEW TIRES PUT ON AND A ALIGNMENT. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND I WAS PUT OFF. I WAS TOLD I HAVE NO WARRANTY WITH THE TIRES AS I WAS TOLD BY MY SALESMAN (WHO BY THE WAS IS NO LONGER THERE). I AM UPSET BECAUSE THE SERVICE GUY WHO MADE MY APPOINTMENT SAID THEY ARE SEEING THIS ALOT WITH THE 2007 FORD FOCUS PIRELLI TIRES BUT I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR NEW ONES. I DON'T THINK SO THIS IS A PROBLEM I HAVE HAD SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE A.S.A.P. BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OUT ON THE ROAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THE CONTACT RELEASES THE THROTTLE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY TAKES A LONG TIME TO RETURN TO IDLE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE DOES NOT HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS RELEASED, THE VEHICLE PULLS BEFORE IT DECELERATES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS HORRIBLE. THE CONSEQUENCE OF THE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A CRASH DUE TO THE SLOW RESPONSE TIME WHEN BRAKING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE, BUT WAS ONLY SERVICED ONCE. THE AIR CONTROL VALVE WAS REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED HOWEVER, AFTER 25 MINUTES, THE THROTTLE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS LESS THAN 100. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON THE SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE ECU EITHER UPDATED OR REPROGRAMMED. UPDATED 06/16/08
I WAS IN A CRASH IN A 2007 FORD FOCUS. I WENT FORWARD WITH A FORCE SO GREAT THAT MY COLLAR BONE WAS BROKEN BY THE SEATBELT, BUT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. IF IT HAD, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS FRACTURE. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS.
I WAS DRIVING A 2007 FORD FOCUS THAT I HAD RENTED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY UNDER GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS, MID-MORNING, GOOD LIGHT, NO CURVES, NO DISTRACTIONS, LIGHT TRAFFIC. THE CAR BEGAN TO VEER TO THE RIGHT. I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO CORRECT IT AND IT DIDN'T RESPOND. WHEN I TURNED IT A LITTLE FURTHER, THE CAR ABRUPTLY TURNED ON A SHARP ANGLE TO THE LEFT. THE STEERNG WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. I SWERVED AGAIN TO THE RIGHT, THEN LEFT. I WAS UNABLE TO MANEUVER IT AND WAS ABOUT TO HIT THE MEDIAN WHEN I WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR (I CROSSED THE FAR LEFT LANE IN FRONT OF ANOTHER DRIVER). THE IMPACT CAUSED THE SIDE OF THE CAR TO INDENT MORE THAN 1 FOOT. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT. I WAS FORCED FORWARD SO HARD THAT THE SEATBELT BROKE MY COLLAR BONE. I ALSO HAVE SEVERAL BROKEN RIBS AND A HAND INJURY. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY UNDER EXAMINATION BY ENGINEERS WHO HAVE TOLD ME THAT I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE, GIVEN THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR, WHICH IS A TOTAL LOSS; I HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM IT.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD FOCUS PURCHASED IT NEW, CURRENTLY HAS 19,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TODAY SMOKE STARTED TO FILL THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND MY ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. WIRES MELTING ALL OVER THE PLACE, FLAMES AND SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE ALTERNATOR. THIS WAS A SAFETY HAZARD, THE SMOKE COULD'VE OVER COME ME OR MY PASSENGERS, PLUS THE FIRE ITSELF COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURIES IF I HAD DRIVEN A BLOCK OR TWO DOWN THE ROAD. IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER, BUT IT WONT GET LOOKED AT UNTIL NEXT WEEK. MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
ON OR ABOUT 7/10/2007, MY 2007 FORD FOCUS ZX3 (ONE WEEK IN SERVICE, 400 MILES ODOMETER) LEAKED AN UNKNOWN QUANTITY OF FUEL ONTO THE FLOOR OF THE ATTACHED ENCLOSED GARAGE AT MY RESIDENCE. THE QUANTITY OF FUEL SPILLAGE IS UNKNOWN; HOWEVER, THE FUMES WERE SO STRONG INSIDE THE GARAGE, THAT THEY CONTAMINATED MY CLOTHING TO THE DEGREE THAT A "GAS SMELL" WAS NOTED BY A TOW TRUCK DRIVE THREE HOURS AFTER I WAS EXPOSED TO THE FUEL SPILL. THE SERVICING DEALER SAY THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS SPLIT ALONG THE SEAM OF THE TANK. THE SERVICING DEALER IS IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE GAS TANK. *TR
THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURED ABOUT 10 TIMES. THE VEHICLE LOSES SPEED BUT THE TACHOMETER RPMS INCREASED. THE SPEED WILL DROP TO 5 MPH AND THEN INCREASE UP TO MAYBE 20 MPH AND THEN DROP BACK DOWN. IT WON'T GO OVER 20 MPH. THE CONDITION LASTE D FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES. EITHER THE CONDITIONS CORRECTED ITS SELF OR I HAD TO STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED THE DEALER INDICATED THAT IT WAS RELATED TO THE TRACTION CONTROL WHICH WAS STRUCK ON. THE DEALER NOW SAID THAT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES ON THE COMPUTER, SO THE ONLY THING TO DO WAS WAIT FOR THE CAR TO BREAK DOWN. SINCE I LOST SPEED IN TRAFFIC I FELT THAT THISWAS A SAFETY ISSUE.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. SHE RETURNED TO THE DEALER TWICE IN ONE WEEK AND THEY REPAIRED THE AIR BAG SENSOR THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIGHT WOULD DIM FOR TWO DAYS, BUT THEN ILLUMINATE AGAIN. SHE BELIEVED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THE DEALER ADVISED HER NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,300 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,900.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION IN JANUARY OF 2007. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THAT CRASH AS WELL. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 3,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IT STARTED TO STALL AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I KEPT DRIVING THE CAR HOME AND IT WAS NOT SHIFTING AT 35 TO 40 MILES P/HR. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP NEAR MY HOUSE AND THEY DIDN'T REPAIR IT AT ALL. FROM THERE I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. SO, I TOOK MY CAR TO BOB BAKER FORD. BOB BAKER FORD TOLD ME THE CAR NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND THEY CHARGED ME $3,076.10 DOLLARS. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED BUT I BELIEVE THAT THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2004 FORD FOCUS WAS DEFECTIVE WHEN I BOUGHT IT FROM THEM AND THEY SHOULD PAY AT LEAST FOR THE COST OF THE NEW TRANSMISSION. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEFROSTER WOULD NOT REMOVE THE DEW FROM THE WINDOW WHILE THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED. THE DEFROSTER WOULD ONLY REMOVE THE DEW WHEN THE HEATER WAS ACTIVATED. THE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,527 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.

AS A RESULT, HE CAN NOT SEE THE AIR BAG, SPEEDOMETER, THE VENTS, AND A HUMP FIGURE. HE STATED THAT THE FAILURE PREVENTS HIM FROM SEEING THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF HIM AND IS SIMILAR TO LOOKING THROUGH A SCREEN DOOR. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FAILURE THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON APRIL 28, 2007. FORD STATED THAT THERE IS NO RETURN POLICY EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW. 2007 FORD FOCUS WITH UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION ISSUES. CONSUMER STATES THAT HER VEHICLE REVVED UP AND SURGED ALMOST HITTING A GUARD, AND THEN A SECOND TIME ALMOST WENT INTO THE WOODS. *KB *TR
DRIVING DOWN DIRT ROAD ~45MPH. SPEED LIMIT IS 55MPH. SAID ROAD HAS NUMEROUS POTHOLES, NONE OF LARGE SIZE THAT WERE OBSERVED TO BE CATASTROPHIC. PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITH PASSENGER IN SEAT. SPOKE WITH FORD COMPLAINT LINE, THEY DENY THIS AS A FAILURE WITHOUT INVESTIGATING OR INSPECTING, NOR DID THEY OFFER. FORD DEALER WHO IS REPAIRING VEHICLE, WAS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE INFORMATION OF WHAT SET THE AIRBAG OFF AS OF YET (SENSORS?). FORD DEALER CLAIMS POTHOLE DAMAGE ON VEHICLE. *TR
THIS CAR IS GOING BACK FOR 3RD TIME FOR A FUEL LEAK . THE FUEL LEAKS OUT OF THE RETURN LINE AND DRIPS ON TO THE EXHAUS. T I GUESS FORDS IS WAITING TILL IT CAUSES A FIRE BEFORE THEY FIX THIS. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO CHECK THE REST OF THESE CAR. I KNOW OF 4 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK

HE STATED THAT THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE, BUT ARE STILL SQUEAKING. WHEN HE RELEASES THE CLUTCH AND SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL, HE HEARS A KNOCKING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE MAKES A TICKING SOUND AS IF IT WILL EXPLODE. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN DIAGNOSING AND REPAIRING ALL OF THESE FAILURES. THE REPAIRS USUALLY LAST APPROXIMATELY 3-4 WEEKS BEFORE THE FAILURES RECUR. THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE DEALER REPLACE HIS VEHICLE WITH A NEW VEHICLE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,701 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
YEAR OF VEHICLE: 2007 MAKE: FORD MODEL: FOCUS SE DATE OF PURCHASE: JULY 2007 SELLING/: SPREEN HONDA ODOMETER @ PURCHASING: 24,900 CURRENT MILEAGE: 49,000 PROBLEM(S) WITH THE FOLLOWING: TRANSMISSION - REPAIR ATTEMPTS: SRS/AIRBAG LAMP - REPAIR ATTEMPTS: STEERING SHAKE/VIBRATION - REPAIR ATTEMPTS: SEAT BELT REPAIR/REPLACEMENT - REPAIR ATTEMPTS: AIR BAG LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN IN THE 'ON' POSITION - MULTIPLE REPAIR ATTEMPTS: COMPLAINT TO DEALER: YES. CLD SPREEN HONDA SPOKE TO OWNER WHO SENT ME TO A SALESMAN. THE NEXT TIME I RETURNED IT TO FRITZ DEALERSHIP (SINCE THEY DID ORIG WORK), FOR SAME PROBS & I WAS TOLD I WOULDN'T GET A COURTESY CAR AND THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE FOR REPAIRS. THE INTERIOR AIRBAG LIGHT WAS IN THE 'ON' POSITION, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING, THE FRONT END WAS SHAKING LIKE BEFORE. CAR WAS RETURNED THE 2ND TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS DEFECTIVE PARTS & HAD TO BE ORDERED. NO COURTESY CAR THIS TIME LIKE THE FIRST TIME SO I WAS STRANDED (I'M DISABLED AND ND TRANS). THE CAR IS FALLING APART LITTLE BY LITTLE WITH THE BACK DOOR HANDLE BROKEN COMPLETELY. THE SELLER (SPREEN HONDA) SAID I WOULD HV TO GET A NEW LOAN ON A NEW VEHICLE INSTEAD OF 'EXCHANGING VEHICLES' AS PROMISED IN MY CONVERSATIONS WITH THE OWNER, AT SPREEN HONDA, PLACE OF PURCHASE. I REFUSED THIS 'HUSTLE' BECAUSE THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD OVER THE PHONE, BUT AFTER 2ND SET OF REPAIRS, THE CAR WOULD BE REPLACED...NOT ME PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR AND GIVE UP ANOTHER DOWN PAYMENT! I DIDN'T AGREE TO THIS AND WALKED OUT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN UNDER REPAIR FOR WEEKS OFF/ON FOR THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEM I.E., THE TRANSMISSION FIRST REPAIR WAS ONLY A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, ALONG WITH FRONT END SHAKING. I WAS GIVEN A COURTESY CAR WHILE REPAIRS WE DONE W/OUT THE 1ST TIME, BUT NOT THE 2ND. I WAS TOLD MY CAR HAD A 'DEFECTIVE PART' & HAD ORDERED IT. THE CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED AGAIN FOR SAME PROBS MENTIONED ABOVE. AIRBAG LIGHT IS BK ON AGAIN AND TRANSMISSION SLIP. *TR

I HAVE SOME MAJOR CONCERNS WITH MY BRAND NEW FORD FOCUS. I WAS IN A VERY MINOR CAR ACCIDENT. THE ONLY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WAS A COUPLE OF CRACKS IN THE FRONT BUMPER, LOSS OF THE FORD EMBLEM AND CRACKED GRILL. THE FRONT WAS NOT CAVED IN OR THE GRILL EITHER. THE SUPPORT BRACKETS FOR THE GRILL WERE STILL IN TACT. ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE TO THE HOOD. AS I GOT BACK ONTO THE ROAD THE HOOD FLEW UP AND SMASHED OUT THE WINDSHIELD, AND SOME DAMAGE TO THE ROOF. THE HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY, IN MY OPINION, WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED. THE MIDDLE PART OF THE LATCH IS METAL BUT IT IS INCASED IN PLASTIC. KEEP IN MIND THAT WHEN THE HOOD FLEW UP, THE HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE HOOD. THIS IS NOT A VERY GOOD SAFETY FEATURE FOR THE VEHICLE. NOT ONLY HAS THE VEHICLE INCURRED MORE DAMAGE THEN WAS NECESSARY, I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE ELSE ON THE FREEWAY AS I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING WILL THE HOOD COVERING MY WINDSHIELD. IF NEED BE I WILL GLADLY FORWARD PICTURES ON MY BADLY DAMAGED CAR. *NM
MY ENGINE IN MY BRAND NEW 2007 FORD FOCUS WAS NOT STARTING PROPERLY. HAD TO ACTUALLY PUSH THE GAS TO GET THE ENGINE TO CATCH. CONTACTED MY DEALER, AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINES IN THE 2007. HE WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN IT WAS READY TO BE FIXED. I WAITED 8 MOS AND CONTACTED FORD CANADA. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND BROUGHT IT IN, BUT NOTHING WAS DONE THEN EITHER. IT CONTINUES TO BE A POOR STARTING PROBLEM. *TR
RIGHT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WAS LEAKING. THIS CAUSES PREMATURE TIRE WEAR (CUPPING) AND UNSAFE HANDLING CONDITIONS. VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 1,000 MILES ON IT. SHOCK ABSORBER WAS PROBABLY DEFECTIVE FROM MANUFACTURER AND FORD FAILED TO INSPECT OR NOTICE THIS DEFECT. FORD REPLACED THE PART AT MY REQUEST AFTER I NOTICED LEAKING ITEM. ON AN UPHILL SECTION OF ROAD (SLIGHT INCLINE) WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE WHILE STOPPED FOR A STOP SIGN, I RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND BEFORE I COULD STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I WAS ABLE TO REALIZE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND JAMMED DOWN THE GAS PEDAL TO AVOID ROLLING BACKWARD INTO THE NEXT CAR IN LINE BEHIND ME. A PERSON CROSSING THE STREET BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE CAR BEHIND WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED. I NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN ON ANY OTHER CAR WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BEFORE. THE FORD DEALER TELLS ME THIS IS NORMAL FOR A 2007 FORD FOCUS WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. I THINK IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS ROLL BACK PROBLEM IS NOT ADDRESSED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RESURFACED ACCOMPANIED BY MILD DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT AND EXCESSIVE VIBRATION. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS CAUSED THE FAILURES. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT AN ALIGNMENT BE PERFORMED. IN ADDITION, ALL FOUR TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE TIRE SPECIALIST STATED THAT THE A COMPONENT ON THE VEHICLE WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2007 FORD FOCUS AND IT IS FOUR MONTHS OLD WITH 20,000 MILES ON IT. THE TIRES ARE BALD WITH DIFFERENT PATTERNS. THE TIRE THAT CONCERNS ME THE MOST IS THE ONE THAT HAS A WAVE LIKE PATTERN ON IT. THE DEALER SAID ITS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR BUT ALL THE PEOPLE INCLUDING MECHANICS I SHOWED IT TOO BEFORE I WENT TO FORD SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A MAJOR DEFECT THAT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE SOMEONE. *JB

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND WITHIN TWO YEARS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE I HAD THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED EIGHT TIMES. *TR
2007 FORD FOCUS WITH SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES. CONSUMER STATES THAT HE HAS HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS INCUDING PUNCTURE IN THESE TIRES. HE STATES THAT IT HANDLED POORLY, AND HE HAD TO REPLACE THEM AT 26,000 MILES. *KB THE TIRES LOST AIR, AND A REPAIR THAT WAS MADE DID NOT HOLD.(HANKOOK OPTIMO TIRES). *JB
2007 FORD FOCUS WITH DEFECTIVE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE AIRBAG DOES NOT SENSE WHEN HIS GIRLFRIEND IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. HE ALSO SAYS THAT COLD WEATHER ENHANCES THIS PROBLEM. *KB THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. *JB

CONSUMER WAS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. *BF THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A BLACK BOX AND THE LAWYER HAS BEEN ATTEMPTING TO GET THE MANUFACTURER OF THE BLACK BOX TO DOWNLOAD THE RCM , BUT HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. ON JULY 2009, THE LAWYER FOR THE DECEASED WAS INFORMED BY ONE OF THE ATTORNEYS FOR FORD MOTOR COMPANY, THAT THEY WERE IN CONTACT WITH THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE DOWNLOAD OF THE RCM INFORMATION AND WERE ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO DOWNLOAD THAT PARTICULAR MODEL IN THE UNITED STATES AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO FORWARD THE UNIT TO GERMANY TO DOWNLOAD THE INFORMATION. THE LAWYERS OFFICE STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION AND BELIEVED THE BLACK BOX MANUFACTURED BY BOSCH IS A FRAUD AND THAT THE BLACK BOX DOES NOT MAINTAIN ANY INFORMATION. LAWYER WROTE IN ON BEHALF OF THE ESTATE OF THE DECEASED. *JB
