CPSC# I1250486A. 2010 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER STATED AS SHE WAS ENTERING THE CAR HER FOOT BECAME WEDGED BETWEEN THE PLASTIC CASING ON THE DOOR. *LN THE CONSUMER NEEDED HELP GETTING THE CASING OFF OF HER FOOT. SHE SUFFERED A MINOR INJURY. THE DEALER OFFERED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND BOTH REAR TIRES WERE WORN BECAUSE THE ALIGNMENT WAS NOT PROPERLY CONFIGURED. THE CONTACT ORIGINALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TIRES WERE ROTATED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER HAD TO OBTAIN AN ALIGNMENT KIT TO RESET THE WHEEL BASE. THE CONTACT EVENTUALLY HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 11,304 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR REAR DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPEN WHEN BEING ACCESSED WITH THE KEY FOB OR MANUALLY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A FAULTY DOOR ACTUATOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. UPDATED 9/4/13 *CN THE REAR DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR, WAS TO CROSSOVER THE SEATS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT RESTRAIN PROPERLY AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S CHEST ABRUPTLY STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE LOCK BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED ON THE FOBIK KEY, THE DOORS LOCKED BUT WHEN THE UNLOCK BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE AND REAR DRIVER SIDE DOORS FAILED TO UNLOCK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE AND THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOORS LOCK WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE DOORS FAILED TO UNLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS DIRT IN THE LOCKING MECHANISM. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON MICHIGAN HIGHWAY 91 BETWEEN LANGSTON AND TURK LAKE BETWEEN 2:30 AND 3:00 AM WHEN A DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAR. I WAS GOING ABOUT 55 MPH AT THE TIME. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BUT DID HIT THE DEER. THE CAR WAS NOT SERIOUSLY DAMAGED AND I CONTINUED ON. I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE MUSHY AND LESS EFFECTIVE THAN NORMAL AFTER THE INCIDENT. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIRS I WAS TOLD THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD "BURST".
HANKOOK TIRES 20,000 MILES. CAR SHAKES, TIRES CHOPPY AND VERY LOUD ON HIGHWAY. DEALER HAS ROTATED EVERY 3,000 MILES AND 2011 FORD FOCUS SE IS ALIGNED PROPERLY. WORSE TIRES IN THE WORLD AND NO SATISIFICATION FROM DEALER, THE FORD CO. OR TIRE COMPANY. THEY ARE WAITING FOR INJURIES JUST LIKE WHEN THEY PUT FIRESTORM TIRES ON TREE VEHICLES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. A THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ALSO BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. UPON RESTART THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,915.
THE DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVERS DOOR WHEN USING KEY FOB DOES ALWAYS UNLOCK, WHEN LOCKS ITS OWN AT 10MPH THEN YOU TRY TO GET OUT SOME DRIVING HAS BE WRENCHED WITH HANDLE. PASSENGER DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER LOCKS ITSELF AT 10MPH, STAYS LOCKED, CANNOT BE OPENED BY HANDLE EVEN AFTER CAR OFF, THE DOOR PULL CANNOT BE PULLED UP TO UNLOCK THE DOOR, MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN USING OTHER DOOR FOR YEARS TO GET IN AND OUT BECAUSE WE CANNOT GET THAT DOOR UNLOCKED. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK USING KEY FOB OR FROM MAIN DOOR INSIDE VEHICLE. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE WE BOUGHT IT NEW. HAS BEEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM, IT THEN WENT OUT OF WARRANTY SO WE NEVER WENT BACK.
SINCE NEW THIS CAR HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE ON SLICK ROADS. THE REAR END ROUTINELY STEPS OUT OR SLIDES OUT UNEXPECTEDLY EVEN WHEN DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT THE REAR END HAS A SENSATION OF STEPPING OUT WHEN CORNERING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RE-ALIGNED BY THE DEALER TWICE BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINS. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH THE OEM TIRES AS WELL AS REPLACEMENT PIRELLI TIRES. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW AND EVERY WINTER SINCE. AS DESCRIBED ABOVE THE HANDLING ISSUE IS ALSO ON DRY PAVEMENT IN SUMMER, JUST NOT AS DANGEROUS THEN.
REAR DOORS DO NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side and both the rear driver’s and passenger’s side doors failed to open. The contact stated that the front driver’s side door was able to open by lowering the window and manually opening the door from the exterior door handle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the front passenger’s and rear driver’s side door latches to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the rear driver’s side door latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
