UPON IGNITION A MESSAGE 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT SVC REQUIRED' SOMETIMES APPEARS AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. PROBLEM IS USUALLY REMEDIED BY TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING BUT CAN SOMETIMES TAKE THREE TRIES. PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT BUT IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. SO FAR IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED ON LEVEL GROUND AND SLIGHTLY INCLINED DRIVEWAYS. ONLINE RESEARCH SUGGESTS BAD PLACEMENT OF THE STEERING MODULE IS CAUSING INTERNAL ELECTRONICS TO OVERHEAT AND DEVELOP FAULTS.
STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION-SERVICE REQUIRED KEEPS COMING ON. WHEN IS A RECALL COMING. SCARED THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TO TURM THE CAR OFF AND ON THEN WAIT TIL IT DECIDES IT WANTS TO MOVE. AFRAID THE STEERING WILL LOCK WHILE DRIVING. SO FAR IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHILE STATIONARY BUT HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS WHEN DRIVING IN REVERSE TO GET OUT OF A PARKING SPACE.
IN EARLY 2017 I STARTED EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. I WOULD TURN MY CAR ON SOME DAYS AND IT WOULD SAY POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AND DRIVE. TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON (SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES) WOULD GET RID OF THE ERROR CODE AND I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT LIKE NORMAL. A MONTH AGO AT 129,000 MILES THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME IT IS OUT FOR GOOD. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I RESTART THE CAR, THE ERROR CODE WILL NOT GO AWAY. THE COST TO REPAIR IS OUTRAGEOUS FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT WORTH MUCH DUE TO THE HORRIBLE REVIEWS AND UNENDING PROBLEMS THAT EVERYONE IS EXPERIENCING. ON TOP OF THAT, I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE CAR SHUDDERING CONSTANTLY WHEN I DRIVE IT. MY TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT A YEAR AGO AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT. I PULLED OVER AND I COULD NOT GET IT INTO REVERSE OR ANY GEAR. A FEW MONTHS AFTER IT WAS FIXED THE SHUDDERING BEGAN AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR (SAME SYMPTOMS AS LAST TIME BEFORE IT COMPLETELY WENT OUT), BUT FORD SAYS THAT THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER THE MILEAGE IT NEEDS FOR THE RECALL REPLACEMENT, SO IF IT GOES OUT AGAIN AND I KNOW IT WILL IN A MATTER OF TIME, THAT WILL BE ANOTHER $2,500 TO FIX. WITH THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON JUST THE POWER STEERING ISSUE AND THE CONSISTENCY BETWEEN REPORTS, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
My car was sitting ,in the driveway of my,home it was t-boned after which it spun around 90 degrees,it was damaged severely.The air bags did not deploy,I think they should've deployed. The car went to the shop and it has not been properly repaired,the body is structurally distorted ,and some of the mechanisms related to suspension and the trailing axle aren't properly installed or repaired.
AFTER MULTIPLE ISSUES \RECALLS WITH THE TRANSMISSION THE CAR STILL IS NOT RUNNING RIGHT. IT TAKES SOMETIME FOR THE VEHICLE TO START AND ONCE IT DOES IT SHUDDERS ON ACCELERATION. NOW I AM BEING TOLD BOTH THE FUEL PUMP AND THE CLUTCH NEED TO BE REPLACED. BASED ON EVERYTHING I AM READING THERE ARE QUITE A FEW FAULTY PARTS IN THESE VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
I ALMOST GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE DEAFENING NOISES COMING OUT FROM THE SPEAKERS WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT SOUNDED LIKE FIRECRACKER GOING OFF NEXT TO MY EARS. I WAS STARTLED AND TRYING TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. DUE TO THE DISTRACTION FROM THE NOISES, NEITHER DID I FLICK THE TURNING SIGNAL NOR DID I HEAR THE HONKING FROM THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME. DEALER UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND ASKING FOR $783 TO REPLACE THE RADIO. THERE ARE LOT SIMILAR COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS, THEY NEED TO MAKE A RECALL ON ALL DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSOR MODULE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,200.
WHEN STARTING THE CAR, BEFORE DRIVING, "STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION" COMES ON THE SCREEN AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TURN. THIS HAPPENS A COUPLE OF TIMES A DAY AND I FEAR THIS WILL IMPAIR THE ABILITY TO TURN DURING DRIVING OR WHEN STARTING MY COMMUTE. I FOUND RESTARTING THE CAR A FEW TIMES ELIMINATED THIS ERROR.
OPEN HOOD WARNING LIGHT COMES ON,AT RANDOM TIMES, WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THE HOOD IS CLOSED SECURELY. ALARM SYSTEM GOES OFF, SEVERAL TIMES AT NIGHT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND ENGINE IS OFF. LOW BATTERY WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE CAR ENGINE IS ON. BATTERY HAS BEEN CHECKED, IS GOOD!
WHILE DRIVING DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND GAUGES TURN OFF RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF AND UNABLE TO OPERATE OR TURN OFF IT STAYS ON WITH EXTREMELY LOUD STATIC.CARS TURNS OFF WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY AND STREET. WE PUSHED IT TO SAFETY THEN ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IT DID. TODAY WE TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER THE REP HOOKED IT UP TO THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE NO PROBLEM WAS WAS FOUND. THEN LATER THAT DAY IT DID IT AGAIN. WE TOOK IT BACK NOW THEY SAY ITS THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS COMPUTER PROGRAMMING FOR THE CAR. GRANTED THEY HAD NOT HOOKED IT UP TO THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND THE COST WOULD $800. THIS CAR IS NOT EVEN 6 YEARS OLD THIS IS A BIG CONCERN /LIABILITY WHEN YOU HAVE THE DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES, THE RADIO TURNING OFF AND ON . THE CAR IS SHUTTING OFF IN MID MOTION. I CALLED FORD TODAY THE REP SAID NOTHING WE CAN DO NO OTHER REPORTS ABOUT THOSE SYMPTOMS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. YES THE REP SAID SYMPTOMS. BUT OTHER REPORTS HAVE BEEN MADE ON BLOG CHATS. SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES. I HAVE MAJOR CONCERNS WHEN A CAR IS SHUTTING DOWN WHE DRIVING THAT IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT. 2012 FORD FOCUS COST $21000.00 6 YEARS OLD NEEDING MINOR REPAIRS WEAR AND TEAR UNDERSTANDABLE TIRE $50 WINDSHIELD WIPERS $30 ETC ELECTRICAL COMPUTER PROGRAMMING MAJOR REPAIR BIG PROBLEM SINCE POTENTIALLY YOUR CAR CAN SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY AND YOU A CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE DIE. $800 IS A LOT OF MONEY TO GET A REPAIR DONE FOR 6 YEAR OLD CAR.
ON 3 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING DOWN A SIDE STREET WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 35MPH, A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT NOTIFICATION APPEARED. ON ONE OCCASION IT PREVENTED MY BRAKE PEDAL FROM ENGAGING THE BRAKES. THE PARKING BRAKE STILL WORKED. THE VEHICLE HAS A 3RD PARTY WARRANTY THROUGH THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM, WHEN TAKEN TO THEIR MECHANICS IT WAS STATED THAT THEY COULD FIND NO TRACE OR CAUSE OF THE ISSUE AND COULD NOT REPLICATE.
TAKATA RECALL, FIRST OFF IS THE DRIVER DOOR COMES UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING, ALSO HAD A DOOR LOCK AND WASN'T ABLE TO CLOSE. MY 2012 FOCUS FEELS LIKE IT'S GOT NO POWER ALOT OF TIMES OR WILL START TO SPUDDER FROM EVERY STOP. DOES SAME WHEN REVERSING OUT OF A DRIVE WAY. SOMETIMES IT SEEMS LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL, I HAVE THE AUTOMATIC. IT REVS AT REALLY HIGH RPMS LIKE IT NEEDS TO SHIFT BUT DOESN'T. PROBABLY HAVE MORE ISSUES THE LONGER I KEEP IT, I BELIEVE THE HUFFINES DEALERSHIP, THE COMPANY THAT FINANCED AND FORD KNEW THESE THINGS COULD AND DID HAPPEN TO THE CAR I WAS SOLD. SINGLE FATHER WITH A 4 YEAR OLD SON JUST TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS SAFE.

THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE ENGINE WAS POWERED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WITHOUT POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS, EVERY TIME I START UP THE CAR THE STEERING COLUMN IS ALMOST LOCKED. I START BACKING OUT AND IT LOOSENS UP. THIS MORNING I STARTED MY CAR UP AND IT WAS LOCKED AGAIN, BUT I GOT THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION, AND IT NEVER LOOSENED UP. I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS DRIVING IT OT WORK, BUT I HAD TO GET THERE. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO GET FIXED.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY REAR LEFT DOOR FLEW OPEN WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN OUT OF A PARKING LOT, NOW I SHUT MY RIGHT FRONT DOOR AND IT WON'T LATCH. I'VE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION ABOUT A RECALL. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BEFORE A CHILD FLIES OUT OF A CAR. MY CAR ONLY HAS 55K MILES ON IT. THIS IS PRETTY SAD.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,496.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NOISE PREVENTED HER FROM CONCENTRATING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BOMMARITO FORD (675 DUNN RD, HAZELWOOD, MO 63042, (314) 895-0600). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE AUDIO CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-24624323. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

POWER STEERING IS DISABLED UPON STARTING VEHICLE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS JUST A RANDOM ERROR BECAUSE I WOULD TURN VEHICLE OFF THEN ON AND THEN IT WAS FINE. NOW THE ERROR WILL NOT TURN OFF AND I DO NOT HAVE POWER STEERING AT ALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
RECEIVED "STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION" ERROR ON DASHBOARD AT START UP. POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING AND VERY HARD TO TURN CAR. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM ELECTRONIC STEERING MECHANISM AND RACK NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2300. SEEMS LIKE A WIDESPREAD AND DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS MODEL, WONDER WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL?
MY FOCUS WHEN BEING TURNED ON THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS IN PLACE AND DOES NOT WANT TO TURN IN ANY DIRECCION. THIS HAS HAPPEND MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. THE PROBLEM USED TO BE RESOLVED BY TURNIG THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON BUT IS NOT THE CASE ANYMORE. THIS LAST TIME THAT IT HAPPEND I WAS IN MOTION COMING TO A STOP SIGN AND IT SEIZED ON ME. LUCKYLY I WAS ALREADY STOPPING OR I COULD HAVE WRECKED. IT TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS OF TURNING THE ENGINE ON AND OFF TO GET IT TO WORK AGAIN. FOR NOW WE ARE NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE WE FEEL THAT IT IS DANGEROUS. THE WARINING THAT TURNED ON ON THE DASH READ "STEERING FAULT". THIS CAR IS A 2012 WITH 130 THOUSAND MILES.

POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY. AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING. ONLY REMEDY WAS TO REPLACE.
ON 9/25/18, AFTER DRIVING TWO HOURS AND THEN MAKING A BRIEF STOP, WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING WARNING: "STEERING ASSIST FAULT. SERVICE REQUIRED." WHEN I STARTED BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE, I DISCOVERED THE CAR HAD LOST POWER STEERING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON BUT RECEIVED THE SAME WARNING AND STILL HAD NO POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE TWO HOURS HOME VERY CAREFULLY BUT OBVIOUSLY THIS POSED A SAFETY RISK, ESPECIALLY IF IT HAD GONE OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING OR IF THERE WAS A NEED FOR ME TO MAKE A TURN QUICKLY. HERE ARE THE FACTS WE LEARNED FROM DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND CONTACTING OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP: SEVERAL OTHER FORD FAMILY MODELS WITH SIMILAR YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR STEERING ASSIST ISSUES AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM WHICH COSTS OVER $2100. IN CONCLUSION, WHY AM I NOW $2100 POORER AFTER REPLACING POWER STEERING IN A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MILES WHEN CLEARLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH FORD'S POWER STEERING THAT SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL ON THE FOCUS AS WELL? THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION OF THIS COMPLAINT.
THIS CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASING IT AS A CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE FOR MY DAUGHTER. THE STEREO WENT OUT COMPLETELY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES BUT FORD SAYS THE PROBLEM IS NOT BAD ENOUGH WHEN HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER FOR IT TO BE REPLACED UNDER THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH FORD HAS PUT IN PLACE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 100,000 MILES AND 7 YEARS. LASTLY TWICE WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS STARTING TO DRIVE THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE AND CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD. ITS A GOOD THING SHE KNEW TO USE HER EMERGENCY BRAKE OR SHE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. NEVER BUYING A FORD AGAIN.
POWER STEERING HAS BEEN GOING "IN AND OUT" FOR ABOUT A YEAR. RESOLVED TEMPORARILY TYPICALLY BY RESTARTING ENGINE. HOWEVER, POWER STEERING PERMANENTLY FAILED 9/24/18. T CALLED CUSTOMER CARE STATING FORD KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE (2017 DISMISSED LAWSUIT). THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT. MILEAGE @88,000. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ISSUES THEY HAVE WITH THEIR VEHICLES. COST TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION WAS $2,200!
THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROL UNIT APPARENTLY STUCK OPEN AND RESULTED IN EXTENDED BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL. I WAS SLOWLY TURNING AND THE RT WHEEL WENT OVER THE END OF A DRIVEWAY ABOUT 2 INCHES HIGH. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT A FORD DEALER WHO APPARENTLY WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM AND COST ABOUT $1100. I HAVE RECEIPTS AND CORRESPONDENCE.IT OCCURRED 9/24/18 WITH 31,000 MILES.
MY 16 YEAR OLD WAS DRIVING AND THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT MADE THE STEERING GO OUT FOR HER. THIS PART IS EXTREMELY PRICEY I FEEL THAT AS MANY COMPLAINTS THERE ARE ABOUT THIS PLUS THE HIGH COST THIS SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS. VERY DANGEROUS
THE BATTERY WHICH IS FUNCTIONAL DISCHARGES EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN RECENTLY AND THE CAR WILL NOT START UNTIL THE BATTERY IS JUMPED. WHICH PRESENTS A PROBLEM IN THAT YOU CANNOT SURE IF YOU GET BACK FROM WHERE YOU HAVE GONE. THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ARE FUNCTIONING.
OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR, AN INDICATOR WARNING MESSAGE KEPT COMING ON ABOUT THE POWER STEERING MANUAL ASSIST, WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE A DEFECT IN THE STEERING COLUMN. TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF SOLVED THE ISSUE AT THE BEGINNING. BUT THEN WHILE I WAS ON THE ROAD IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND WOULDN'T GO OFF. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED FOR $2,200. THE COST WAS NEGLIGIBLE TO THE RISK'WE WHO OWN THESE CARS WERE RISKING OUR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD OUGHT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE BY FIXING THE PROBLEM FOR FREE.
THE TRANSMISSION OF MY CAR SHUDDERS DURING LIGHT ACCELERATION WHEN IT GOES INTO MOTION FROM A STATIONARY POSITION. I HAVE BEEN FACING THIS ISSUE FOR A LONG TIME NOW. IT RUNS GREAT IN 1ST GEAR BUT WHEN IT SWITCHES TO 2ND IT SHUDDERS AND THEN SHIFTS. ALSO WHEN IT IS ON GEARS MORE THAN 2 IT RUNS FINE.
THE HORN QUIT WORKING AT 90XXX MILES. I CHECKED THE RELAY, AND THE RELAY WAS NOT THE ISSUE. I LUCKILY PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT PAID FOR THE HORN. BUT I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALLED ISSUED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL ARE HAVING THIS ISSUES, FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND ONLINE.

THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING. IT WILL MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MAKING IT VERY HARD TO STEER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
ALL OF A SUDDEN MY DRIVERS DOOR CLOSES, BUT WILL NOT LATCH SHUT AND THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. WORKED YESTERDAY AND TODAY WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE DOOR OPENED AND INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON WITH A DASH WARNING THAT DRIVERS DOOR IS OPEN. THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY.

POWER STEERING HAS BEEN GOING "IN AND OUT" FOR ABOUT 1-2 YEARS. RESOLVED TEMPORARILY TYPICALLY BY RESTARTING ENGINE. HOWEVER, POWER STEERING PERMANENTLY FAILED 9/9/18. TOOK MY CAR IN MULTIPLE TIMES PRIOR TO THIS WITH NO RESOLUTION. LOOKING AT A $2100 BILL TO REPLACE WHOLE STEERING GEAR. MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH CARS COMPUTER. CALLED CUSTOMER CARE STATING FORD KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE (2017 DISMISSED LAWSUIT)-- BUT WARRANTY WAS RELIED TO GET OUT OF THE COST RESPONSIBILITY. MILEAGE AROUND 94-96,000.
WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK AT ANY LEVEL WHILE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, THEN LATER BEGAN RUNNING ON THEIR OWN. THIS INCLUDES WHILE VEHICLE WAS BOTH STATIONARY (0MPH) AND IN MOTION (73MPH). FIRST INCIDENT OF WIPERS NOT WORKING AT ALL OCCURRED IN THE MORNING AFTER VEHICLE WAS STARTED FOR THE FIRST TIME OF THE DAY, AND CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE DAY. LATER, DURING AFTERNOON COMMUTE (70MPH), WIPERS SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED RUNNING ON THEIR OWN BRIEFLY WITHOUT LEVER BEING PRESSED. ON THE SAME EVENING, WHEN VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY (0MPH), WIPERS STARTED RUNNING ON HIGH SPEED AND WOULD NOT STOP RUNNING DESPITE ENGINE BEING TURNED OFF AND KEYS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION.
WHEN HARD BRAKING AND HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL TRAVEL FURTHER, ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND IT FEELS LIKE I WILL NOT STOP. FOR A WHILE AFTERWARDS THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL STILL TRAVEL FURTHER MAKING YOU FELL LIKE YOU WILL NOT STOP. TALKED TO THE DEALER (CREST FORD IN CENTER LINE, MI, MIKE) AND HE EXPLAINED THIS IS NORMAL. AFTER THE HARD BRAKE AND THE WHEELS LEAVE THE GROUND, THE ABS SYSTEM THINKS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND DOES A FULL DIAGNOSTICS, DURING WHICH TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL IS INCREASE UNTIL THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK IS COMPLETE. NO OTHER CAR I HAVE OWN DOES THIS AND DO NOT THINK THIS IS SHOULD BE THIS WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES LAST WINTER, THEN WHEN IT HAPPENED ON DRY PAYMENT I CALLED TO BRING IT IN AND THEY TOLD ME NOT TO
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES WHERE THE STEERING FREEZES AND THE VEHICLE HAS TO STOP, BE RESTARTED FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE RECTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION REVERSING OR JUST STARTED. IT IS NOW GOING INTO A FORD DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
WHILE SITTING STILL MY GAS HAND WENT FROM 1/2 A TANK OF GAS TO THE FULL MARK. FILLED IT UP EVEN THOUGH THE GAS HAND WAS ON FULL MARK. IT TOOK $20 TO FILL IT UP AND FOR IT TO KICK OFF. THEN WHEN I STARTED TO START MY CAR I HAND TO TURN THE KEY TWICE TO GET THE MOTOR STARTED AND THEN AFTER I TOOK MY HAND OFF THE KEY IT KEPT ON CRANKING AS IF TRYING TO START ALTHOUGH IT WAS ALREADY RUNNING. I DROVE IT TO LEXINGTON AND COULD FEEL IT REVVING THE MOTOR UP WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. I TURNED AROUND AND DROVE BACK TO FRANKFORT AND TOOK IT TO BIG O'S. THEY PUT A HANDHELD TESTER ON IT AND SAID IT WAS EITHER THE OXYGEN SENSOR OR CONVERTER FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS ON. I INFORMED THEM THAT I HAD REPLACED THE O2 SENSOR JUST 3 WEEKS AGO. HE TEST DROVE IT AND SAID IT REVVED UP ON HIM ALSO WHICH HE SAID SOMETHING WAS GOING WRONG IN THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I LEFT FROM THERE THE LIGHTS CAME ON BY THEMSELVES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, AND THE GAS HAND WAS STILL PAST THE FULL MARK. ON 9/7/2018 ALTHOUGH IT SAID THE TANK WAS FULL MY FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. IT ALSO QUIT ON ME ON 9/7/2018 GOING DOWN A HILL AND I HAD TO PULL OVER FOR A WHILE BEFORE IT WOULD START BACK UP SO I COULD GET HOME. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TCM VALVE WHICH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND THE CLUTCHES IN THE TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE.
THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME, BUT MID-TRIP. MY SON WAS DRIVING AND HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING HOME.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
WHILE DRIVING, WOULD HEAR LOUD POPPING SOUND FROM SPEAKERS AND RADIO WOULD CUT OUT COMPLETELY. WOULD HAVE TO RESTART CAR TO GET RADIO TO WORK. POPPING SOUND IS SO SUDDEN AND SO LOUD IT LITERALLY SCARES ME WHILE I'M ON THE ROAD. THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD AS I COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT FROM BEING STARTLED BY THE SOUND THESE SPEAKERS MAKE. SEVERAL OTHER FORD DRIVERS HAVE EXPRESSED HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE.
WHEN PLACING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP YOU HEAR/FEEL A CRUNCHING SOUND. IT NEVER DID THAT BEFORE NOW IT DOES IT EVERY TIME YOU USE THE BRAKES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT GARAGES TO BE CHECKED AND GOT BACK THAT MY BRAKES WAS FINE. ONE GARAGE SAID IT COULD BE THE ABS SYSTEM MAKING THE NOISE. NO POWER TO CLIMB A HILL OR IF YOU GET UP THE HILL THE ENGINE/MOTOR DOES NOT SHIFT LIKE IT SUPPOSE TO. THIS ALL TOOK PLACE IN AUGUST OF 2018.
A WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAY WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY : "TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONING, SERVICE NOW". CAR STOPS SHIFTING PROPERLY. AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE FOR 1 HOUR , IT STARTS BACK AND THE WARNING MESSAGE DISAPPEAR. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. SCARY FEELING UNSAFE. THIS IS A DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM (AUTOMATIC/MANUAL 6 SPEED).
REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT PROPERLY. THE SEAT BELT HAS BARELY BEEN USED OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, SO THIS IS NOT A WEAR ISSUE. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER IN WASHINGTON, MO, AND THEY STATED THE SEAT BELT MECHANISM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED--COST WAS ABOUT $500. TOO MUCH FOR A SEAT BELT THAT BARELY GETS USED.
